Comfortably laying claim to being the godfathers of electro-pop, Swiss duo Yello make their long-awaited return on 30 September, when they will release Toy, their 13th studio album - and first new album in seven years. Comprising 14 brand new songs, the album sees the iconic duo, Boris Blank and Dieter Meier, updating their classic sound (which, lest we forget, defined electro-pop throughout the 80s and bequeathed the world the classic 'Oh Yeah') for a new generation, and bringing their unique vision band up to date.

Powder Blue Tux'Container Zero' b/w 'Mayfair Powder Blue Tux is the creative outlet for Barney Hurley, former writer and producer behind Samuel Purdey, who back in 1999 released their one and only album, the critically acclaimed "Musically Adrift". A lost classic, that was distinguished by its soulful, melodic fusion of west coast influences that could be traced back to the likes of the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and Earth, Wind & Fire.Fast forward seventeen years and you might say the remnants of the 'Purdey Phoenix' are rising from the ashes once again. This time Hurley, the driving force behind that band, has put together his new creative project titled Powder Blue Tux, with the aim of bringing together some of the finest west coast musicians to immerse themselves in two tracks that draw their influence from those immaculate grooves and rhythmic sensitivities of Steely Dan, and the result is one of this years most anticipated EP releases on Preservation Records, 'Container Zero' b/w 'Mayfair'. 'Container Zero' features Peter Erskine honing a pulsating groove on drums. Steely Dan's legend on the horns, the fluid Michael Leonhart weaves his magic on both tracks and with Jay Graydon adding his guitar solo in the middle eight for good measure, it feels like a lost outtake from an album that Samuel Purdey should have gone on to make. Mixed by Elliot Scheiner (Steely Dan/Eagles/Fleetwood Mac) and Bob Power (Pat Metheny/Chaka Khan/D'Angelo).

'Mayfair' was also mixed by Grammy Award-winning producer Bob Power and mastered by Scott Hull at Masterdisk, NYC, and features top session musicians including legendary guitarist Elliott Randall and Walt Weiskopf (The Steely Dan Horns). Vocals are courtesy of former Corduroy front man Ben Addison, with his brother Scott on backing vocals, piano and synths. Both tracks were produced by Hurley in London, NYC & Los Angeles.

American bands have never gotten in the habit of their British counterparts, who tend to release lots of extended singles filled out with not-meant-for-prime-time experimentations. If the Beasties had gotten into that habit, this would be their B-side compendium: a dozen instrumental tracks showing off their groovier side, complete with plenty of wah peddle on the guitar and prominence given to frequent Beastie collaborators "Money" Mark Nishita (keyboards) and Eric Bobo (percussion). It's tough to believe that the same band is responsible for this and the Aglio e Olio EP, but it goes a long way in explaining how they've remained viable for so long.

This collection of demos and live recordings from Amsterdam/Dutch post-punk bands capture the early 80s sound and offer a unique insight into the spontaneous, DIY music style of the time. The Frozen Autumn is an Italian darkwave band, formed in May 1993 in Turin, Italy.
Originally the solo project of singer, keyboardist and synth programmer Diego Merletto, guitarist Claudio Brosio joined on during early studio sessions and live performances. Together they recorded and released two albums, Pale Awakening' in 1995 and Fragments of Memories' in 1997. In 1998, Claudio left the band and Diego recruited Arianna (aka Froxeanne) who sings, programs and composes. After 18 months of work, The Frozen Autumn's third album, Emotional Screening Device', was released in April 2002.

Time Is Just A Memory' is a 6-track overview of songs from The Frozen Autumn's first three albums. Characterized by a blend of melancholic vocals, atmospheric gothic-wave and 1980s-style electropop, the duo call their style "frozen wave'. The Frozen Autumn have stated that labelmates Clan of Xymox have been their main source of inspiration over the years. Other influences include Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, The Sisters of Mercy, Xmal Deutschland, David Sylvian and Depeche Mode. These six tracks stand out for their rich melodies, from the guitar-laden early tracks Dusk Is Like A Dagger', Wait For Nothing', There's No Time To Recall', and This Time,' to the electronic sheen on later songs Is Everything Real' and Silence Is Talking'.

All songs have been remastered for vinyl by George Horn at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley. The release is housed in a custom-made jacket by Peer Lebrecht, from German electro/synthpop band The Dust Of Basement, incorporating a photograph by Diego over a textured background that recalls early 4AD designs. Each copy comes with a double sided 11x11 insert with lyrics and notes.

A new album of muscular British rock 'n' roll from the celebrated beat power trio. 'Obermann Rides Again' comes trampling merrily over a swathe of garage rock pretenders, with the group's vintage instruments and their vintage owners pushed well past breaking-point to bring you 14 slices of raw and tender songsmithery.

Led by the gruffly charming Mickey Hampshire, whose long songwriting career stretches back to Medway trash legends The Milkshakes, and ably assisted by fellow ex-Milkshake and renowned drum wizard Bruce Brand and top Scotch bass thumper John Gibbs, the Masonics have built their reputation on live shows across Europe and the UK that delight teen twisters and pop purists alike.

Sadly no further recordings were released as the band folded in 1978 and became the backing band for Max Splodge but little did we know, the band did record four studio tracks for the highly collectable LIGHTNING label and were scheduled for a release in March 1978. One thing led to another and the band never signed the contract and the tracks were shelved. Rough cassette copies circulated over the years but Tony the singer still had the master tape..... So we are PROUD to give you three of the four tracks recorded here on the vinyl.... This band SHOULD of made it and is criminal they are not up there with the likes of some of the bigger bands!

The second band to feature is FU-2 from Southend-On-Sea. Their roots can be traced back to late '77. After years and years of trying to track this band down after seeing some Youtube footage, we hit lucky and found the singer. He had moved so many times and to our astonishment, he still had in his possession the original 5 track master tape. The really interesting thing about these tracks is that all the recordings feature a certain lady who was made famous by appearing in the Sex Pistols film THE GREAT ROCK 'N' ROLL SWINDLE, Yes.... HELEN OF TROY. Her vocals are so unique and some might say out of tune but blend perfectly with the opposing vocals of Terry Piper. Three of the five tracks can be heard here! Be warned!!!! THESE TRACKS ARE SO CATCHY and you will be singing them all day! Once again, three of these tracks HAVE NEVER BEEN HEARD BEFORE!

Next up is a band from Caterham in Surrey called NUFFIN' who were mates with The Damned & Johnny Moped. Their claim to fame so to speak of is that they had Roger Bullen (aka Dee Generate) as their drummer before being head hunted by EATER. Things were looking good for Nuffin' as in November 1976 London Weekend Television broadcast a documentary by Janet Street Porter on a new youth cult called punk rock that was sweeping the nation. You can hear one of their tracks being played in that program. Here we have three of their four studio tracks that have NEVER been heard before direct off the original reel to reel master tape.

Side Two kicks off with Norwich's first Punk band THE TOADS. These tracks that are featured are the essence of what Punk is for me.... No messing about... straight in with 1234.......BANG! Short and sweet! After only a year or so they were gone but the nucleus of the band re-appearing as SILENT NOISE.

The last band to grace volume 9 are The Coils from out of Morpeth in Northumberland of all places... Once again, no messing about, 1234 and singing about what was happening around them! Just take a listen to Fascist and Smash The Front!

Well that brings the vinyl version of Volume 9 to an end.... Similar to previous volumes, it comes with a in-depth A5 16 Page booklet telling the story behind all the bands with rare and unseen photos etc... If you want to hear more, they buy the CD version as it features loads more tracks!

Swordfish proudly continues its reissue programme of vintage Arthur Brown recordings with Kingdom Come's classic 1971 debut. A stunning fusion featuring elements of psychedelia, prog and electronics. Whilst not a major commercial success at the time in terms of pioneering spirit it has become something of a landmark. Now some 45 years later the driving forces behind it are far clearer-a remarkable visionary work full of genuine progressive portent.

First new Wild Turkey vinyl release since 'Turkey' back in 1972. Five of the eight studio tracks, known as the 'Chalfont demos', were recorded early '74 for a third Turkey LP but shelved. Wild Turkey formed in 1971 following Glenn Cornick's departure from Jethro Tull and they quickly built up a solid following with Gary Pickford-Hopkins fronting the band.

This new heavy vinyl gatefold edition is limited to 500 numbered copies with plentiful photos and posters reproduced from Glenn's archives. Sleeve notes and history by Gary Pickford and Pete Sarfas.

Kapitan Korsakov - dangerously abbreviated to KKK - are back!
After taking a break to focus on his other band Raketkanon, Pieter-Paul Devos (vocals / guitar) gathered his bandmates Pieter Van Mullem (bass) and Sigfried Burroughs (drums) to go camping in Chicago's Electrical Audio Studios and record the successor of the latest Kapitan Korsakov album "Stuff & Such" (2012).
"Physical Violence Is The Least Of My Priorities" is recorded and mixed by kindred spirit Steve Albini and show Kapitan Korsakov at their best: an eclectic mix of uncompromised noiserock, catchy melodies bathing in a mudpool of distorted sounds and heartbreaking songs.
"There are no genres in music. There is only good, sincere music and there is bad music", says frontman Pieter-Paul Devos.
Honest songwriting, authenticity and disregarding all things fashionable are Kapitan Korsakov's trademarks. Quite the relief in times of mediocre radio-pollution.

Maschinenfunk atmen. Das macht "Metal Dance" zu einer so tanzbaren wie spannenden Angelegenheit.

Bob Dylan: The 1966 Live Recordings is set for release on November 11.With the exception of the Manchester concert (May 17, 1966) released as Bob Dylan Live 1966 - The Bootleg Series Vol. 4 (Columbia/Legacy) in 1998, a pair of songs appearing on the 1985 Biograph compilation and a smattering of others, the overwhelming majority of tracks and performances on Bob Dylan: The 1966 Live Recordings are previously unreleased in any format - official or bootlegged - and are being made available now for the very first time. Liner notes have been provided by Clinton Heylin. Each individual CD is housed in a custom sleeve featuring stills from colour film shot by D.A. Pennebaker, who's footage from Dylan's 1965 and 1966 tours became the cinema verite classics Don't Look Back and Eat The Document.

Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory is the fifth studio album by American progressive Metal/Rock band Dream Theater. Originally released in 1999, it was recorded at BearTracks Studios in New York, where the band had previously recorded their second studio album Images And Words (MOVLP780) and the EP A Change of Seasons.

The album is the sequel to "Metropolis-Part I: The Miracle And The Sleeper", a song previously featured on the band's 1992 album Images and Words (MOVLP780). It was the first album to feature Jordan Rudess on keyboards.

In 2012, Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory was voted as the number one all-time progressive Rock album in a poll conducted by Rolling Stone, beating Rush's 2112 and Close to the Edge by Yes.

With the help of her producer Day Wave's Jackson Philips, they collectively head San Franscisco's current lofi indie explosion. We're just about to get started on her first proper release -a 5-track EP called 'Never Going Home'- but she's already clocked up well over a million plays by herself as an unsigned artist on soundcloud and has never been far from the top end of Hype Machine without so much as a single press release.

The summery-sounding title track announces English's exciting new presence as a songwriter. Brisk drum work and a ringing guitar melody propel the song forward while English's hazy vocals infuse it with refreshing sincerity and an aching, yearning sweetness. 

Speaking about "Never Going Home", English states: "The song is about moving overseas, the feeling of being drawn to California, and really finding myself here."

Tumblers From The Vault presents their entire recorded legacy, reviving the story of Syrinx and sharing their memorable, mind-bending melodies. The musicians behind Syrinx were composer and keyboardist John Mills-Cockell, saxophonist Doug Pringle, and percussionist Alan Wells. All three were young veterans of the Toronto creative scene by the beginning of 1970.

LSD played a supporting role in their artistic pursuits, but equal guidance also came from Mills-Cockell's studies at the University of Toronto and Royal Conservatory of Music, where he established an ad-hoc, DIY electronic music course in the school's basement. After the dissolution of Intersystems, a rogue, multimedia ensemble established by Mills-Cockell , John journeyed to Canada's west coast to work on an album of original synth-based compositions. Pringle was enlisted to color outside the music's already adventurous lines, his sinuous, signal-processed saxophone adding another electrifying voice to Syrinx's signature sound.

A sound that hybridized chamber music dynamics with wild, yet tuneful electronic melodicism. With Alan Wells' understated percussion rolled into the fold, what started as a solo venture for Mills-Cockell became a new kind of collective. From these coastal sessions were conjured exemplary pieces like Journey Tree' and Hollywood Dream Trip,' both plaintive and serene expressions of Mills-Cockell's economical arrangements, and also Syrinx's restrained and expert use of their electronic resources. Syrinx's self-titled debut arrived in 1970, followed in 1971 by Long Lost Relatives, which is highlighted as the first album on Tumblers From The Vault.

Between the two albums, Syrinx became a vital part of the Toronto music scene, with Doug Pringle's loft serving as the central node for impromptu performances and the group's collaborative activities. Syrinx also started receiving high profile work, first for television, film, and dance, and then for orchestra. One commission culminated commercially in Tillicum', the unforgettable theme music for pioneering reality television show Here Come the Seventies.

As they did the entire tour, the group opened with a rollicking version of "Heartbreak Hotel", followed by several other classic covers, and of course, what Cramps show from '86 would be complete without "Can Your Pussy Do The Dog."
