The group was really nothing more than a studio project, put together by journalist and record producer José Luis Alvarez, who never performed in public. Their goal was to record songs in the same style that the emerging Andalusian rock scene was already doing in the south of Spain under the influence of the latest international rock trends -imported through the US military bases- and the local musical idiosyncrasy. Although most of the recorded songs - some of whom remained unreleased for years- succeeded in reflecting the original goal, for this first single of All & Nothing their producer instructed the band to record something similar to Iron Butterfly's classic 'In-a-gadda-da-vida', and 'Underground Vibrations nº 2' seems to be a very accomplished effort. The record has become a very sought-after item for those collecting the lesser-known side of 70s Spanish underground rock. The stunning rhythm section on both sides of the single plus the overwhelming organ solos and firing wah-wah and fuzz guitars explain the high interest on this elusive 45, a must in the top DJs record boxes. All Away Lou is the new band from Lou Hanman; a 40 something, queer, English woman living in Philadelphia, PA, still playing punk rock three decades in because it's fun and she needs it! The force behind UK punk favourites Caves & Flamingo 50. Lou emigrated to the US 6 years ago to pursue music full time, touring & recording drums, bass, guitar for the likes of RVIVR, Mikey Erg, Thin Lips, Katie Ellen, Queen of Jeans, Worriers. After a significant songwriting drought, the pandemic and a break from touring gave Lou the space to focus on her own musical output and spend some time recording at Headroom Studios in her current hometown of Philadelphia, PA with Kyle Pulley and Jackie Milestone. While she records everything herself, All Away Lou is very much a band, and an opportunity to get loud, sweaty and rock out as soon as the possibility arises. The name simply comes from never feeling at home, always away. She had felt the culture shock of moving to the states from the UK (especially of the political landscape after November 2016) and a breakup that underpinned the realization that life was not turning out the way she had hoped. Lyrics on the record reflect this point in Lou’s life: the need to return to a feeling of “home” and have the courage to change her mind, take a new path and not settle for things that didn’t feel right. All Away Lou will be taking the album on the road with dates in the UK & Ireland supporting Jeff Rosenstock & Fresh in April 2022.

nicht wieder loslässt, fängt schon beim ersten Hören ein. Gleich zu
Beginn setzt Max Rieger in HALTE MICH die Grundstimmung für die
folgenden Geschichten auf dem zweiten Album seines Soloprojekts all
diese gewalt. "Nichts kommt mir zu nah / Zweifel immer da / du weißt
alles ist wahr / alles ist Fassade / alles ist Versteck / halte mich bedeckt."
Anders als WELT IN KLAMMERN, der deutlich konzeptionellere
Vorgänger, in dem kein Stück hätte fehlen oder ergänzt werden können,
stehen die elf Songs aus ANDERE zwar in Kontakt, können aber auch zu
jeder Zeit einzeln stattfinden. Obschon die Eröffnung HALTE MICH und
der abschließende Titelsong ANDERE das Album umfassen und eine
sichernde Umhüllung bilden, herrscht hier große Song-Autarkie. Der
Entstehungsweg unterscheidet sich von den früheren, was laut Rieger
auch an der Länge des Arbeitsprozesses von über vier Jahren liegt. "In
den ersten zwei Jahren gab es in der Arbeit an ANDERE keinen roten
Faden. Ich habe ihn erst auf den letzten Schritten gefunden." Und noch
etwas hat sich gewandelt. Die Texte bestechen in einer Schlichtheit, die
erst in der Durchdringung und Verdichtung von Geschriebenem entsteht.
"Ich bin deutlich konkreter geworden und immer mehr abgeschreckt von
verwaschenen Aussagen. Die Vorstellung, man müsse Sprache in Musik
poetisieren, finde ich nicht treffend und ich finde es nicht mehr zeitgemäß,
sich abzuheben und elitär zu sein." Umso geräumiger und flächiger darf
der Sound daherkommen, wie ein vielschichtiger Teppich oder eine sich
steigernde Beat-Schraube. In ERFOLGREICHE LIFE unterstreicht ein
anschwellender Jahrmarktsound die Ironie des Erzählten "erfolgreiche
Life / nie mehr verlieren / erfolgreiche Life / alles funktioniert / erfolgreiche
Life / uh ungeniert / erfolgreiche Life / extrovertiert". In GRENZEN findet
sich die Geschichte in den Klang einer New Wave Gitarre gebettet -
"Netze zwischen Räumen / die Angst neutraler Leute / vor gestern
morgen heute", in GIFT wiederum lässt einen die anfängliche Klangkühle
fast frösteln und mündet schließlich in etwas Drohendem, Aggressivem:
"Was soll ich damit / was aus der Tiefe aus mir spricht / das hier war
niemals ich / nein das bin ich wirklich nicht / wenn doch dann bin ich nicht
ich / wenn doch dann will ich das nicht". Sich zeigen macht verletzlich und
Rieger beschreibt den größten Unterschied zwischen Bandleben und
Soloprojekt: "Bei Die Nerven haben wir kollektive Gedanken und teilen
jede Reaktion durch drei. Dort bin ich viel angriffslustiger und deutlich
weniger verletzlich. Bei all diese gewalt entscheide ich allein, stehe aber
auch allein in der Verantwortung." Wer einmal tiefen Schmerz, manifeste
Einsamkeit, für den Moment endgültige Verlassenheit gefühlt hat, kann
auf ANDERE hören, dass Riegers Musik diese Tiefe besitzt, die nicht an
jeder Ecke hörbar, sichtbar, spürbar wird und die nicht auf der
verzweifelten Suche nach der vielbeschworenen Authentizität plötzlich
vor die Füße fällt. Schaut man auf die FacebookSeite von all diese gewalt,
so lautet ein Eintrag von Januar dieses Jahres: "VIER JAHRE
SELBSTDEKONSTRUKTION MÜSSEN REICHEN." - "Vielleicht finde ich
es deshalb furchtbar, weil ich in diesem langen Entstehungsprozess nicht
mit mir im Reinen war. Jetzt ist es schmerzlich, genau das zu hören",
denkt Rieger laut nach. Darauf können wir uns verständigen. ANDERE ist
vieles, aber gewiss nicht furchtbar.

Bei Max Rieger war es schon immer so; es ist immer schon alles im Übergang gewesen: im Werden, im Fluss. Seit über einem Jahrzehnt gehört er zu den prägendsten Künstlern im deutschen Pop, wandlungs- und erfindungsreich wie kaum einer sonst. Mit seiner Gruppe Die Nerven hat er dem elektrisch verstärkten Gitarrenrock hierzulande eine neue Gestalt und neue Schärfe geschenkt. Fünf Alben haben Die Nerven seit 2012 herausgebracht, zuletzt 2022 ihr schwarzes Album, finstere, harte, zugleich nihilistische und ironische Musik, getragen von großer Weisheit und dem Wissen um die Weisheit des Primitiven. "Kein Punkt wird mehr fixiert" hieß das Solo-Debüt 2014, seither sind zwei weitere Alben erschienen, das majestätisch-weiche "Welt in Klammern" 2016 und das kühle "Andere" von 2020. "Alles ist nur Übergang" ist nun sein viertes Werk als All diese Gewalt, es führt die großen Linien des Rieger"schen Schaffens fort und hebt seine Kunst doch auf eine neue Ebene: So organisch, so schwebend hat seine Musik noch nie geklungen, so scheinbar anstrengungslos dahingespielt und zugleich intensiv, mit einem unwahrscheinlichen Gespür für Dramaturgien, für das rechte Maß zwischen dem Treibenlassen der Klänge und dem plötzlich alles ändernden Break.

All Men Unto Me is a project led by Rylan Gleave, composer and vocalist (most notably in Ashenspire and various Paraorchestra projects). Today, All Men Unto Me announces their second album Requiem, an album which re-imagines an ancient mourning in a real, contemporary setting. Taking the broad emotional arcs of the Missa pro Defunctis, these structures pave way for new songs, ruminating on patriarchal power systems and the conditions of transmasculinity within these, through the haze of Queer reverence and forgiveness. In Rylan's words, the Missa pro Defunctis "translates to ‘Mass for the dead’, and refers to the Catholic text taken from the Roman Missal. When set to music, it is called a ‘Requiem’. Requiem masses are usually performed at funerals. I’ve sung in a few Requiems — Mozart, Fauré, Duruflé — when I’ve been in choirs, and felt those dramatic arcs of the structure in my own voice. Writing a Requiem felt like processing my own complex feelings about the Church, patriarchal power within it (and more broadly), and the death of a part of me in a framework that allowed for mourning. The contours of sorrow, light, forgiveness, and reverence made space for these songs to speak to my own identity as a survivor, and use that structure in a way that let me direct an ancient narrative myself." Marrying traditional Anglican soundworlds of electro-pneumatic church organ and stacked choral vocals with heavier sounds, closer to experimental/noise rock and doom metal, Requiem sits at times near Swans, Kayo Dot, Lingua Ignota, Greet Death, and Scott Walker.

CUT THE ENGINES is the third album by All Structures Align, following the critically acclaimed Details And Drawings and Distance And Departure (both released on Wrong Speed Records in 2022). All Structures Align began as a studio project reuniting brothers Tim and Adam Ineson of 90s underground rock heroes Nub. Their debut album Details And Drawings took everyone by surprise.

Rather than sounding like a tentative bedroom project, it arrived fully formed and with its own identity. It was an album of unhurried patience, of mounting tension (and eventual release) and it possessed a depth that rewarded repeated listens as irresistible hooks revealed themselves almost casually to the listener.

It also felt slightly out of time: no rush to the chorus, no gimmicks, no desire to pack out every second of space with sound. Lots of people agreed and the limited vinyl pressing sold out almost instantly. The follow-up came within the same year with the brothers recruiting drummer extraordinaire Neil Turpin (Objections, Bilge Pump, Polaris) to bring swing and pulse to their songs.

Distance And Departure was the result and widened their audience and acclaim further. So much so that the brothers decided to venture out and play live. To do so they brought in Oli Heffernan (Ivan The Tolerable, King Champion Sounds) on bass and Andrew Pollard (Polaris) on guitar and additional vocals.

If you’ve been lucky enough to see All Structures Align live over the last year, you’ll know this expanded band bring the songs to life beyond simple recitation. Those dynamic shifts in the music are now larger than life and fully multi-dimensional. Cut The Engines is the first All Structures Align release to capture the five-piece live band in the studio. Eight songs as spacious and measured as their previous work but with an increased directness and drama that seems to come from the interplay between people in a room.

Whilst never getting down to Ramones levels of brevity, the songs are compact and sharper than before, as though the addition of extra personnel has allowed their musical language to become more concise and effective. The songs still feel like rich novels condensed into short stories, but the band format has brought a confidence and ease to the telling that increases their impact. The resulting record is their most accessible yet, a slow-core indie-rock masterpiece that will intrigue and delight existing fans and newcomers alike for decades to come.

Tennessee. The band consists of drummer Robby Staebler,
vocalist / multi-instrumentalist Charles Michael Parks Jr.,
guitarist Ben McLeod and keyboardist Allan Van Cleave.
 The band’s musical style incorporates elements from multiple
genres, such as hard rock, stoner rock, psychedelia, neopsychedelia, blues, folk and southern rock; however, Julian
Marszalek of The Quietus noted that: “... this isn’t blues of the
‘woke-up-this-morning’ variety but one of malaise, anxiety and
fear brought on a by world seemingly dead set on destruction;
nor is this an escapist variant of psychedelia wherein one form
of reality is jettisoned in favour of another for reasons of cheap
thrills.”

On October 25th, acclaimed singer/songwriter Allison Moorer will release Blood (Autotelic Records / Thirty Tigers) the first solo album in four years from the Academy, Grammy, Americana and Academy of Country Music award nominated artist. Blood is not only Moorer’s most personal and revealing work to date, but also her finest and most important. Blood stands on its own as a complete work, but the album serves as a companion piece to her anticipated autobiography, Blood: A Memoir, being released on October 29th through Da Capo Press, an imprint of Hachette Books. Blood: A Memoir is a detailed account of Moorer and her sister’s (Grammy Award winner Shelby Lynne) childhood growing up in a troubled home in Southern Alabama, which ended with the well-documented murder-suicide of her parents in 1986. Much of what the public has known about the tragic event begins and ends there. For years Moorer had avoided going into the traumatic details of the abuse, alcoholism, intimidation, poverty and neglect, that existed prior to the deaths, and for good reasons which she addresses in the memoir. Moorer also addresses the fact that there was so much more to her family than tragedy, darkness and what people thought they knew. There was love, there was a protective mother, there was the bond of sisterhood and there was music. There was always music. The album Blood serves as a song cycle featuring ten tracks that directly connect to the people, emotions, trauma, and state of mind that are all detailed so eloquently in the memoir.

Idlewild South is the second studio album by American southern rock band the Allman Brothers Band. Produced by Tom Dowd, the album was released on September 23, 1970 in the United States by Atco Records and Capricorn Records. Following the release of their 1969 debut, the Allman Brothers Band toured the United States extensively to promote the album, which had little commercial success. Their performances, however, did create positive word of mouth exposure that extended to more famous musicians, such as Eric Clapton, who invited group leader Duane Allman to contribute to his 1970 album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs.

Tagada-Rock nennt Michael Gutenbrunner alias Alpha Romeo mehr oder weniger augenzwinkernd seinen eingängigen Mundart-Pop, benannt nach dem legendären Karussell im Wiener Wurstelprater. Dabei mischt er großzügig Indie, Folk und Pop aus verschiedenen Musikepochen und hält das Ganze mit offenherzigen Dialekt-Texten, einer spielerischen italo-romantischen Note sowie einer Prise Selbstironie zusammen.
