Legendary Tacoma, Washington mathcore/hardcore/metal band Botch’s final EP An Anthology of Dead Ends was originally recorded in 2002, serving as a swan song sending off one of heavy music’s most inventive groups.
Now, the band’s final EP is set to be re-issued on Sargent House over 20 years after its original release. Their monstrous concoction of metal, noise, indie rock guitar trickery, and depth is on full display.
This is a last will and testament to the group's drive and intent, cementing their legacy as one of the untouchable greats, already having influenced many a group. Bassist Brian Cook, guitarist David Knudson, drummer Tim Latona, and vocalist Dave Verellen formed Botch in 1993, eventually becoming one of the most significant bands of their time.
Their final show was June 15, 2002, the same day as the original release of An Anthology of Dead Ends. The members would go on to play in These Arms Are Snakes, Minus the Bear, and Russian Circles, among others, with acclaim for the band coming mostly post-breakup.
Over 20 years since they played their final show, Botch are reuniting for select dates across the US throughout the end of 2023. Botch continue their first live performances in over 20 years throughout the end of 2023.

On one hand, it could be bumming out the people who enjoyed hearing what the band evolved into. On the other hand, nostalgia sells...and daddy needs to eat! So...Nevermind 2! Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses has seen a few vinyl pressings in the past, but landing a physical copy of You Are My Canvas (which was only released on burned CDs, crafted in the Lovat- Frasers' basement) is almost impossible. Boz Scaggs' self-titled album, released in 1969, is an iconic and pivotal record in his career, marking a shift in his musical direction to incorporate elements of soul, R&B, and showcasing his musical versatility.
Departing from the Steve Miller Band after a two-album stint, Boz Scaggs found himself on his own but not without support. Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner, his friend, helped him sign with Atlantic Records and the label had him set up shop in Muscle Shoals, recording his debut album with that legendary set of studio musicians, known for their down-and-dirty backing work for Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett, among many other Southern soul legends.
AllMusic writes: "The Muscle Shoals rhythm section, occasionally augmented by guitarist Duane Allman, gives this music genuine grit, but this isn't necessarily a straight-up blue-eyed soul record, even if the opening 'I'm Easy' and 'I'll Be Long Gone' are certainly as deeply soulful as anything cut at Muscle Shoals." Scaggs dabbled in country and blues along with the soul and R&B that grounds this record.
The extended 11-minute blues workout "Loan Me a Dime," functions as much as a showcase for a blazing Duane Allman as it does for Boz. Brainbox is a Dutch progressive rock and jazz fusion group from the late
1960s and early 1970s. Parts is their second studio album, released in
1972, and featured none of the original Brainbox members. As a result, the new Brainbox sounded more progressive than ever on Parts, as the band explored new sounds. The album features elements from psychedelic rock, blues, folk, jazz and pop, and even classical. It is a classic prog rock title, not least because it’s the last album the band released before they first broke up, and belongs in the record collection of any fan of the genre. Released as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on yellow vinyl.
The Dutch blues and prog rock group Brainbox was founded in Amsterdam by guitarist Jan Akkerman (Focus), drummer Pierre van der Linden (Focus) and singer Kaz Lux. This self- titled album is considered to be one of the most legendary in Dutch rock history. The album originally consisted of seven tracks, two of which were written by the band itself (Dark Rose and Sea Of Delight). The tracks on this album show great diversity, just listen to Dark Rose and Summertime and you know how great this band sounds.

Brainbox is a Dutch rock group that was initially active from
1968 until 1972, and then reformed in 2009. Brainbox is best described as a progressive blues rock band infused with jazz elements. Their eponymous debut album, released in
1969, is also the only Brainbox record that features founding guitarist Jan Akkerman, who left the band in late 1969 to join Focus. Nevertheless, Brainbox is considered a legendary Dutch band of international allure. Brainbox is now available as a limited edition of only 500 individually numbered copies on purple vinyl.
This septet from Somerset recorded their sole album in London in March 1970. Produced by Lennie Wright (drummer with the Web and Samurai), it originally appeared that October, when it sank without trace. In recent years, however, it has been acclaimed as one of the best British prog obscurities of its time, with its tight jamming and incisive brass arrangements earning favourable comparisons with Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears. It’s presented here complete with a CD including a rare non-album bonus track and a double sided postcard.

After we wrapped I combined both my solo session and the Bros session and released in as one record called Saved By Magic on my label Duna records. That was 2005. Now I'm rereleasing this record on HPS and I've decided to separate the two sessions into their original bodies of work. My solo session and the Bros session. I mostly did this because I feel the Bros deserve to have something of their own as they were a magical band. I also just thought it would be cool. I call both records Saved By Magic Again."

On January 19, 2024, the legendary post-punk band De Brassers played their farewell concert in a completely sold-out Brussels Ancienne Belgique. It was a very memorable evening with guest appearances by Sietse Willems (Meltheads) and Stijn Meuris.
In short, a unique and historic concert now released on vinyl and CD by Antler, the label that helped found the birth of Belgian post-punk and cold wave. A release not to be missed, both for those who attended that evening and for those who could not get tickets

Enlisting a whirlwind of performances from Tess Parks, Cadence Weapon and
an array of the Toronto music scene, including members of Orville Peck, Tallies,
Vallens, Zoon, Sauna, Fake Palms, Rapport, Praises, Civic TV, Moon King, Blonde
Elvis, For Jane, Ducks Ltd, TOPS and Broken Social Scene. Only Up sees Korody
digging through and channelling three decades of anthemic British bands.
From the angular guitars of late 70”s post-punk (Gang Of Four, Wire), to the
lush gloom of 80’s electro-pop (Tears for Fears, OMD), with the dance floor
psychedelia of the Manchester sound (Primal Scream, Happy Mondays), and
through the late ‘90s and early 2000s post-punk / new wave revivalists.
When originally tasked with making this album, Korody and his long time music collaborator Kyle Connolly (Orville Peck, The Seams) quickly threw down
ideas in a session, however with Connolly embarking on a world tour, and with
Korody’s demanding schedule at his Candle Recording Studio, the project sat
unattended.
Somehow, by the time of the album’s delivery deadline, Korody not only orchestrated a creative ensemble of friends and collaborators, he wrote, recorded and mixed the entirety of the album in two weeks without a single regret
or compromise.
“It was the best way I could have done it. A strict deadline to make decisions,
move on and focus on things that matter the most. Every decision was made in
that headspace. The ease of technology to endlessly tweak with, it sometimes
can end up destroying records until there is no soul in it, no happy accidents
and it’s completely sterile. You can have a well produced record without going
down that dark rabbit hole.” Only Up is out via Hand Drawn Dracula.
Not every two-year period measures out the same, noted Brendan Benson, the 51-year old Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and co-founder of The Raconteurs. Benson had just finished his well-received seventh album, "Dear Life" in 2019 when his world came to a stop. "I was rehearsing for South-By-Southwest and gearing up for a tour and had a band ready and then, of course, the world shut down," he said in a recent interview. The lockdown then began to reroute lives, societies and ambitions worldwide. "Everything changed," Benson said. "I went to work on some songs so I"d have new material when things opened up." Over months with minimal interactions, those songs coalesced and took on lives of their own, he said. Two years of semi-isolation, of fading relationships, of the natural inward turn that comes with less human contact unexpectedly pushed Benson"s song-writing into new places. Instead of being an afterthought, Benson"s solitude evolved into, "Low Key" the eighth album by the idiosyncratic songwriter who has enjoyed both world-wide popularity with the Raconteurs and a devoted cult following for his numerous solo projects. Low Key, the Nashville-based artist said, was his chance to explore how lives and relationships changed during the lengthy isolation from the normal interactions of everyday life.

Von Fachleuten mit stammelnd vorgetragenen Begriffen wie - Neo-Krautrock oder - 70er trifft Stoner umschrieben zeigt letztlich nur die Problematik, BRETTs Sound in eine Schublade zu pressen. Klar ist, dass BRETT mächtig rocken, dass sie mit Hendrix und Led Zep ebenso sozialisiert wurden wie mit Queens of the Stone Age und Fugazi - und dass sie (und hier wird es nun wirklich außergewöhnlich!) all das garnieren mit kämpferischen deutschen Texten.
Wie sehr die Arbeit von BRETT vom Ausformulieren deutlicher Gegensätze getragen wird, zeigt sich bereits im Titel des neuen Albums, wie Sänger Max erzählt: - Der Name - WutKitsch tra¨gt das in sich, was wir auf unserem Album musikalisch vereint sehen: keine Angst, Gefu¨hle zu zeigen oder auch mal u¨ber Liebe, Vermissen oder Verlassen werden zu singen - manche nennen das - Kitsch . Gepaart mit einer ordentlichen Menge musikalischer - Wut ergibt es das, fu¨r was wir als BRETT 2018 stehen.
In ihrer ersten Single "Ein scho¨ner Tag (schade, dass Krieg ist)", welche ab dem 12. Januar zu hören sein wird, stellen sich BRETT die Frage, ob man satt und glu¨cklich sein kann, wenn man um die Dinge weiß, die auf der Welt passieren, und beziehen damit einmal mehr klar Stellung. Max: - Man muss ja keine erklärte politische Band sein, um trotzdem Stellung zu beziehen. Aber ich halte es für geradezu unmöglich, ein Künstler und zugleich denkender Mensch zu sein und sich nicht dazu zu äußern, was derzeit auf der Welt passiert.
Produziert wurde das Album von einem der legendärsten deutschen Produzenten: Franz Plasa (u.a. Selig, Rio Reiser, Udo Lindenberg u.v.m.), sozusagen - der deutsche Rick Rubin , und den Sänger Max - nicht nur als einen Freund, sondern letztlich als einen echten Mentor bezeichnet.
BRETT sind keine Rockmusik von der Stange - und wenn BRETT etwas nicht sind, dann gewöhnlich oder erwartbar. In diesem Sinne kann man gespannt sein auf Mehr, denn da rollt Mächtiges auf uns zu, das man in Deutschland so definitiv noch nicht gehört hat.
