'The BEAST is back, the BEAST IN BLACK!' Haunting words recalling 'Berserker', BEAST IN BLACK's debut album, which was finally released in November 2017. Although it never actually felt as if the BEAST had been away entirely. Right after the departure from his former band BATTLE BEAST, BEAST IN BLACK's founder Anton Kabanen recruited new companions in the way of high-pitched vocalist Yannis Papadopoulos (WARDRUM), bassist Mate Molnar (WISDOM), guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen (U.D.O.) and last but not least drummer Atte Palokangas (THUNDERSTONE), who officially replaced Sami Hänninen in early 2018.

Continuing with the same style of songwriting that he started with BATTLE BEAST, Kabanen crafted a new host of addictive songs that excite with their use of relentless energy and power. Especially the album's first single, 'Blind And Frozen', that blew the roof off and set the bar very high by achieving several million YouTube views in just a year. To cut it short: 'Berserker' was very well received by both new and old fans of Anton's work, as well as fans of the anime series 'Berserk', which Anton drew inspiration from. A number of well-known musicians have also praised the record such as NIGHTWISH's Tuomas Holopainen (who said that 'you have to be mentally insane to not love this album'), HELLOWEEN / GAMMA RAY's Kai Hansen and many more.

Additionally, 'Berserker' not only allowed BEAST IN BLACK to enter the hearts of many people all around the globe, but also gave them the keys to the gates of the world's stages! The accompanying touring cycle kicked off in October 2017 in the form of a few European shows supporting the legendary W.A.S.P. - one of Kabanen's musical idols next to JUDAS PRIEST, ACCEPT among others - followed by select shows opening for Germany's BEYOND THE BLACK. If you'd have thought, that it's impossible to top such an amazing beginning, you would soon be proved wrong. To worthily close the 'Berserker' live chapter, the band returned to where their live career had begun back in 2015 - supporting Finnish symphonic metal giants NIGHTWISH in front of several thousand fans in November & December 2018. Despite their extensive touring schedule, the BEAST managed to achieve something else in the past few months...

The band secretly forged 11 hot new tracks which comprise their highly-anticipated sophomore record 'From Hell With Love'. The album was once again recorded in Anton's own Sound Request Studio, and true to the motto 'Never change a winning team', the cover artwork was created by Roman Ismailov who worked on »Berserker« as well as the first record Kabanen wrote under the banner of BATTLE BEAST, 'Steel' (2012). Although BEAST IN BLACK's new tunes musically fit into a similar vein as their debut album, the lyrics haven't only been inspired by the aforementioned 'Berserk', but also by other movies and TV series Anton is a huge fan of, as well as personal experiences once again. For example, 'Cry Out For A Hero' is based on another Japanese manga and anime series called 'Fist Of The North Star'. Fans of 'Berserk' have nothing to worry about as with the help of Anton's Italian friend Paolo Ribaldini the record still delves deep into Anton's favourite series!

'From Hell With Love' delivers everything that made fans love Anton's work in the first place. A slew of fast-paced tracks like the opener 'Cry Out For A Hero' and 'Repentless', hymnic songs 'Unlimited Sin' and 'This Is War' and one of the band's specialities, mid-tempo smashers that only BEAST IN BLACK can deliver are back and represented on the new disc by the lead single 'Sweet True Lies' and the album's title track. Høyem manages to create a rare, obscure beauty with a voice that is deep and dark. Shortly after the recording of Endless Love his manager Per Eirik Johansen died, the man who supported him since the beginning of his career.

DEAFKIDS is one of the most exciting bands I have heard in a very long time. They are a unique psychoactive journey of Brazilian polyrhythmic percussion, hypnotic chanting, and aggressive repetitive raw punk all echoing out from another dimension.  Having had the blessed opportunity to play several shows with them in Europe and Brazil I can say that without a doubt, they are something new and mind blowing created from something old and primal.  Their youthful energy is contagious and their wisdom and deep knowledge of sound is beyond their years. While their previous release, 'Configuração do Lamento', captured the group as they delved deep into their own musical world of diverse and discordant characteristics 'Metaprogramação' takes this blend to entirely new extremes. In a narrative where songs melt and dissolve into one another, electronic pulses blend into the power of rhythmic and percussive fabrics frantically woven to imprint this 'future-primitive psychic scenario' into the songs. Difficult to describe or pigeonhole - yet, all the elements which characterize the band's punk and aggressive aesthetic are present (even if in unpredictable and surprising ways) - barrages of delay and noise, wailing guitars, dancing frenzied rhythms - all culminating in a wild psychedelic journey that's bound to reach one's mind through the body while inebriating both.
"Deceived by perceiving our so-called individuality as a form of freedom, we are programmed to live and continue living as a fragmented and binary model of nature. Experimental numbers in a worldwide political power-game where human lives and it's complexities, connections, necessities and environments are lowered in terms manipulated by algorithms, mind control and brutal force upon our conditions, our rights and our true will. Metaprogramação offers a vertiginous, sensory insight on these inner conflicts and aspects of the animal being.

Their first proper full-length after a series of EPs and singles, Rites of Despair is the resulting vision of two years' worth of tumult, including relocations, lineup changes, life and death. Divided between two Acts, Act I: Depersonalization & Act II: Derealization, Rites of Despair explores themes of isolation, depression, decay, tumultuous self discovery, and abandonment.

Rites of Despair is the descent into sludging funeral doom madness. Melodic interludes and numerous guest vocal spots drive home the narrative with absolute sonic dread.

As tradition, Rites of Despair contains artwork from the vision of Bryan Clovenhoov Proteau, who has worked with Fórn on imagery for all of their solo releases to date.

Started in 2017 as the solo project of Carl Skildum (Antiverse, Threadbare, live guitarist for Obsequiae, Majesties, and more) and now featuring the RIAA-certified gold producer Matt Kirkwold, Inexorum present their debut album 'Lore Of The Lakes'. Souls Of Black is the fourth studio album by American thrash metal band Testament. The album was released in 1990. In order to promote Souls of Black, Testament supported Megadeth, Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies in Europe on the Clash of the Titans tour. Formed in 2005 by teenagers Jan-Ole Lamberti (guitars) and Volker Dieken (guitars), NAILED TO OBSCURITY went through the usual ups and downs as a band. The Germans took their name from a song off HATE ETERNAL's debut album, 'Conquering The Throne', but that's another story for another time. Mere months after forming, NAILED TO OBSCURITY issued their first demo, 'Our Darkness'. While most bands live and die on the possibility of signing a label deal, NAILED TO OBSCURITY persevered, releasing their debut album, 'Abyss', independently in 2007. Certainly, line-up shifts were part of the progression as a band, but Lamberti and Dieken -the band's primary songwriters -pushed on, with Jann Hillrichs (drums) and Carsten Schorn (bass) forming the rhythmic foundation. By the time, the group ushered in 'Opaque' in 2013 and 'King Delusion' in 2017 -both for German independent Apostasy Records -they were a different band entirely. BURIAL VAULT vocalist Raimund Ennenga had replaced Alexander Dirks in 2012, and the rest, at least for the present, is history.
Today, NAILED TO OBSCURITY remain Lamberti and Dieken's labor of love, but the duo are far from authoritarian in the way they write music. In fact, while the two axe-slingers comprise the creative core, NAILED TO OBSCURITY complete songs as a band. Songs like 'Tears Of The Eyeless,' 'The Aberrant Host,' 'Road To Perdition,' and the magnificent title track were part of NAILED TO OBSCURITY's weekend forays into the depths of melodic death metal (and beyond). Lyrically, 'Black Frost' continues Ennenga's fascination with struggle, strife, and self-control. The album title was plucked from a concept inspired by seafaring terminology. While at sea, ships may become over-burdened by black frost, a phenomenon where fog or rain freezes to the moorings or masts causing ships to become unbalanced. Unbalanced ships capsize easily. Ennenga took this concept to heart, applying it to humans, who struggle to control fear, anger, or rage. The idea is a cautionary tale to all of us to not let the black frost over-burden our minds.
Where NAILED TO OBSCURITY take 'Black Frost' from here is on tour. As much as the Germans enjoy the creative process and working in the studio, they are, in the end, a live band. A really good live band. They have the track record - where they were either direct support for ARCH ENEMY, PARADISE LOST, and AT THE GATES or main support for DARK TRANQUILLITY - to show for it. Additionally, NAILED TO OBSCURITY have also performed in front of thousands at festivals like Wacken Open Air, Party.San Metal Open Air, and Bloodstock Open Air. der Band. Es setzt den erdigen und trancehaften Rock-Groove des Debüts nahtlos fort. Die Aufnahmen
fanden ganz stilecht auf einer Hütte in den Berchtesgadener Bergen statt.

There are few metal artists that need no introduction, but Sweden's SOILWORK are definitely one of them. Their reputation as one of the country's finest exports (aside from herrings, Abba and porn) is well-deserved. Few bands have melded the aggressiveness of metal with genuinely catchy choruses to such impressive results. Before you start
name-dropping the latest metalcore sensation, let's just get one thing straight, SOILWORK - which is not a reference to cultivation, but to working their way up from the ground - have established a solid reputation alongside fellow countrymen like In Flames, Meshuggah & Arch Enemy as well as influencing bands such as US heavyweights Killswitch Engage. Surfacing in 1997 with a five-track demo,'In Dreams We Fall Into The Eternal Lake', SOILWORK formed as a quartet before expanding for their first full-length release. 'Steelbath Suicide', the band's official debut, saw the light of day in 1998 and immediately caused a major positive stir in the metal underground. Their mix of modern, melodic and progressive metal has created a distinctive sound spearheaded by the soaring vocals of Bjorn 'Speed' Strid. Obituary's death metal debut album Slowly We Rot was a ground-breaking release at the end of the 1980s. As one of the pioneers of this genre they created a heavy album where everything was monstrous. From their down-tuned guitar riffs, deep growls and moans and distinct tempo changes. The songs are often slowing down to a doomy tempo, a revolutionary thing at the time of release. Slowly We Rot is inspired brilliance, where the meaning of the title is illustrated in the music and lyrics. Overall, you're in for one hell of a package with this album, as this is the true classic from the death metal.

The Floridian death metal band Obituary is one of the most successful death metal bands of all time. With the exception of their 1997-2003 split, they continue to perform live around the world.

SLIPKNOT have announced a 10th Anniversary Edition of their Double Gold UK certified milestone LP, All Hope Is Gone. The release will feature newly reimagined artwork by the band's own M. Shawn Crahan, remastered audio, and a bonus disc containing SLIPKNOT's landmark 2009 headline set from Madison Square Garden.
