The progressive metal band Watchtower is known for their complex rhythms and incoherent structures. It's no difference on their second album Control and Resistance. Ron Jarzombek's guitar performance is the key, but the whole band is performing like there is no way back in producing a technical superb album. And Control and Resistance is indeed nothing less. Instruments of Random Murder' is the first track in which they're showing off their progressive skills. You'll hear no repeating sections and the adventurous guitars sounds and shuffling drums are setting the pace for some incredible vocal parts. The title cut got a memorable riff and mechanical trashwork. It's a monument in the progressive metal and one that had a big influence on the later popularity of the genre.

They only recorded two albums, but Watchtower played an important role in the upcoming power of the progressive metal at the end of the 80s. They made a comeback during the zero's and are planning on releasing a new album 30 years after the last one.

Control and Resistance is available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on purple vinyl.

'jen' Was The First Song I Ever Heard Of Count Raven, And I Have Been Sold Ever Since. Count Raven's Third Full-length Studio Release 'high In Infinity' Is A Clear Continuation Of Their Previous Effort 'destruction Of The Void' And Holds 13 Doomy Candies. These Days When We Talk About Doom-metal Or Even About Traditional Doom, There Are So Many Different Developments, Some Which Stray Very Far From The Original Doomy Path. There Also Are A Host Of "proto-doom" Acts, Which Can Feature Too Much Rock, Blues Or Heavy Metal Influences For Some Fans. Count Raven In All This Is A Shining Beacon Of Doom-metal! Whenever I Think Of A Band That Embodies All That I Myself Associate With Traditional, Old School Doom, Then I Think Of Count Raven. 'high On Infinity', And Esp. The Opener 'jen', Perhaps Illustrates This Best.

The Slow Pace Of The Music, The Heavy Riffs, The Lyrical Topics, Everything Just Breathes Doom. Count Raven Are Daring Enough To Experiment (like The Use Of Keys On 'the Dance') But Stay Within The Boundaries Of Doom-metal. Overall This Album Illustrates Well How To Make Doom-metal Without Fusing With Other Genres, Yet Also Sounding Fresh And Original. This Is A Rare Gift Within Any Musical Genre And I Do Think Count Raven Is Under Appreciated, Their Talent Ignored By Many Newer Doom-fans.

If You Are Looking For A Pure Slab Of Doom, Then Find Yourself Some Count Raven. They Remain The Musical Ear Candy Of The Doom World (perhaps Together With While Heaven Wept) And To This Day It Is A True Shame The Band Is No More. Unless You're Truly Just Into One Of The Fringe Genres Of Doom-metal (from Stoner To Extreme Death/doom Or Gothic/doom) And Absolutely Don't Care For Anything Else, Count Raven Is Worth Investing In And You Can't Go Wrong With 'high On Infinity'. Searching On Web Sites Like Ebay Will Really Pay Off And You Won't Be Disappointed!

After Successfully Launching The First Two Count Raven Albums Destruction Of The Void And Storm Warning On Vinyl It Is Time To Re-issue The Next Two Albums, High On Infinity And Messiah Of Confusion On June 15th.
Both Albums Will Be Available On Vinyl For The First Time Ever And Have Been Remastered By Patrick W. Engel For The Best Sound Quality Possible And Include Bonus Tracks (from The Cd Re-issues) As Well As Posters.
Count Raven Formed In 1989 And Established Themselves In The Worldwide Heavy Metal Scene As A Unique Doom Band, Able To Deliver Sadness And Depth In Highly Emotional And Heavy Songs

Since 1983, The Name Lizzy Borden Has Been Synonymous With Heavy Metal Music Of The Highest Caliber. I Wanted To Make Songs That Would Be Theirs, Albums That They Could Be A Part Of.
That Every Song On The Record Could Be Released As A Single Is Testament To Just How Strong This Collection Is. While Truly A Record For His Fans, Its Appeal Will Easily Reach Much Further, And Borden Is As Eager To Get Back On Stage As His Devout Followers Who Cannot Wait To See Him Back Up There. "i've Already Started Working On The 'my Midnight Things' Show, And I Really Can't Wait To Play These Songs Live. There Are So Many Talented Players Out There In The World, I Know I Will Find The Right Guys Or Girls To Be On Stage With Me In My Touring Band, And Just Based On What Is Being Talked About, So Far It Will Be The Best Show I've Ever Done. Riff-heavy und auf den Punkt
Black Sabbath-artige Verrücktheit.
Dieses L.A. Trio macht es richtig dreckig, mit Riffs und Hieben, wie man sie schon lange nicht mehr gehört hat!

July 2014 was my first encounter with BLOWN OUT label wise.

That's when sister label, Swap Meat Records put out the bands debut physical release 'Sun Rot' as a limited run tape. That quickly sold out and two furthers runs were made and also sold out.

Since then, we've released further four Blown Out releases on Riot Season. Drifting Way Out Between Suns (2014), New Cruiser (2016), Superior Venus (2017) and just last week In Search Of Highs Volume 1 (2018).

So what better thing to do next than go back to where it all began and release 'Sun Rot' on wax at long last. 'Sun Rot' was recorded to tape and was very lo-fi in nature. We've rescued the original tapes and have tweaked them for vinyl ever so slightly but it very much remains the lo-fi classic it once was.

It's off at the pressing plant now, getting cut/mastered and once we've okayed the test pressings it'll be pressed up in a limited one off run of 300 copies on space black vinyl. The artwork has been re imagined by the original cover artist, and long time Blown Out artwork collaborator Anthony Downie - and it looks sweet.

The power metal of Scanner marked some of the highlights of the late 80s metal bands. Their debut album Hypertrace is created around the storyline of a science fiction adventure. The superb combat unit which represents the main character on the album are musically translated to the riffs and rhythms of Scanner's sound. The high speed energetic compositions are the main focus, while the heavy metal is thrown in to vary the album in diversity. Theatrics are mixed with over the top vocals, as you can hear by listening to the track "Warp 7". The song "Terrion" carries some refreshing riffs and double bass drums, while "Across the Universe" is on the slower side of their sound. Hypertrace can be named as the cult classic of the power metal and deserves recognition as one of the genre's best releases.

Since their formation back in 1986 the German band Scanner performed live in different line-ups. Lead guitarist Axel A.J. Julius is the only band member which was part of their first album.

Hypertrace is available as a limited edition of 500 indivually numbered copies, pressed on Red Vinyl. The album includes the bonus track "Wizard Force".

Seattle's Sanctuary Recorded Into The Mirror Black At The Infamous Sound City Studios In 1989. The Band Triumphantly Ignored Suggestions To Tweak Their Bay-area Thrash & Traditional Heavy Metal Sound In Favour Of The Then More Commercially-viable Seattle Grunge-sound, Choosing Instead To Firmly Hold Their Ground With This Often Overlooked Masterpiece. The Heavy Guitar Sounds Which You'll Found On The Album Leaves Plenty Of Space For The Rhythm Section And Riffs. The Excellent Vocal Work Of Vocalist Warrel Dane Can Be Heard On The Strong Opener "future Tense" And The Lighter "epitaph". This Pure Heavy Metal Album Is Balanced Between Their Aggression, Melodies And Soloing And Marks It As A Musical Triumph In The Late 80's.

Although The Band Reached Its Demise In 1992, Warrel Dane (vocals) And Jim Shepherd (bass) Later Carried The Sanctuary Legacy Forward With The Formation Of Nevermore. In 2010 They Reformed And Brought Their Songs Back On Stage. Lead Vocalist Warrel Dane Died In 2017.

Into The Mirror Black Is Available As Limited Edition Of 666 Individually Numbered Copies On Transparent Blue Vinyl.

Refuge Denied (1987) Is The First Album By The Seattle Thrash Metal Band Sanctuary. Dave Mustaine Took The Honor To Produce Refuge Denied, And To Good Effect. Its Sonic Recipe Boasts Some Excellent Guitar Riffing By The Band's Guitar Players Lenny Rutledge And Sean Blosl, Accompanied By Aggressive But Melodic Vocals By Warrel Dane And Driving Bass Lines By Jim Sheppard. It Even Features A Cover Version Of Jefferson's Airplane "white Rabbit". Refuge Denied Is One Of Those Albums That Is Both Typical To Its Time Period, Yet Reflects The Atypical And Chaotic Character Of Its Type. Straightforward Songs Like "battle Angels" Features Their Heavy Riffs And Falsetto Vocals By Dane. Their Heavy Work Can Be Heard On Songs Like "die For My Sins", With Indelible Choruses And Trashy Riffing. The Album Would Prove To Be The Stepping Stone To The Equally Excellent Follow-up Into The Mirror Black. Dane And Sheppard Would Later Form Prog Metal Kings Nevermore.

Initially Picked Up By Megadeth's Dave Mustaine, Sanctuary Recorded Two Albums For Epic And Unfortunately Disbanded Not Long After. In 2010 They Reformed And To This Day They're Still Performing. The Lead Vocalist Position Was Held By Warrel Dane Until His Death In 2017.

Refuge Denied Is Available As A Limited Edition Of 666 Individually Numbered Copies On Transparent Red Vinyl.

The debut album See You in Hell from New Wave of British Heavy Metal stalwarts Grim Reaper was originally released in Europe in 1983, with the rest of the world following a year later. The album is a perfect example of the way Heavy Metal guitar lines and vocals are blended together in consistently strong tracks. It's a keeper in which the band is kicking hard, but also got some lighter moments, for example in the track The Show Must Go On'. When the heavy metal riffage got them knocking on your door they're reaching out for their most effective songs, like Dead on Arrival' and title song See You in Hell'. With their dynamics and rhythms they created on of their finest albums. Naturally, a band wearing leather and album artwork depicting 'satanic' imagery also received what is nowadays laughable allegations of demon-worship. Sadly, we can assure you there are no hidden messages in this album if you play it backwards....

See You in Hell is available as a limited edition of 666 Individually numbered copies on flaming coloured vinyl.

Rituell Und In Trance Versetzend, Dieses Album Ist Ein Echtes
Heavy-psych Juwel!
Dieses L.a. Trio Legt Einen Neuen Dreh Auf Sämtliches Heavy-psych Geartetes.
Schamanisch Und Selbstsuchend, Diese Band Macht Alles Richtig.
Brillantes Zeug!

Beacon Of Faith broadly follows the same trajectory as the album's predecessors, Bushcraft (2013) and Bloodmines (2014) - combining raw adrenaline-fuelled emotion, venomous vocal delivery, gigantic guitar sound, and a visceral rhythmic propulsion - a sonic manifestation of desolate rage, bolstered by a palpable sense of urgency.Beacon Of Faith is densely-packed yet Baptists' sound is far from claustrophobic, there is melody amongst the dissonance, as the band more deeply explore the noise rock vistas that have always underpinned their sound.  Lyrics are drawn from their direct experience of a broken society and general discontentment with everyday life. A multitude of issues are in the firing line, from the Canadian court system, issues surrounding substance abuse, mental health, and how the more fortunate 'tend to dismiss people who have been dealt a less-fortunate hand' - as guitarist Danny also reflects.

The New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Started Back In The Late 70's And One Of The Bands Who Stood The Test Of Time Is The Band Saracen. Breaching is the debut album from Leeds-based, 6-piece, post-metallers Hundred Year Old Man. Hot on the heels of recent EP Rei, Breaching emitsthe same heaving intensity and unforgiving, wall of sound approach. Dense and billowing riffs are intertwined with field recordings and spoken word passages to form an unyielding, sprawling piece of work that delivers the bands artistic vision perfectly. The more ambient, drone sections of the record compliment and allow the real songs to take flight. Debut single Black Fire is reworked to give the track a new lease of life, whilst the other heavy hitters here; The Forest, Long Wall, Disconnect and Ascension are a continuation of the excellent work found on the Rei EP. Breaching contains masses of atmosphere and is a ferocious and immersive listening experience. An epic, monolithic voyage full of texture, depth, aggression and emotion. This is an album that should be approached as a whole, with patience and attention. The rewards will deliver a unique, crushing and quite simply superb record.

Awake is the third studio album by American progressive Metal/Rock band Dream Theater and was originally released in 1994. After the success of Images And Words (MOVLP780), Dream Theater was eager to work on fresh material and retreated to the studio in May 1994. John Purdell and Duane Baron produced, engineered and mixed the album. The album's cover was designed by the band and features numerous references to the album's lyrics. The album peaked at 32 on the US Billboard 200.

Awake was the last Dream Theater album to feature keyboardist Kevin Moore, who announced his decision to leave the band during the recording of the album. Dream Theater auditioned for keyboardists to replace Moore for the upcoming Awake world tour and eventually hired Derek Sherinian.

"Lie", "Caught in a Web" and "The Silent Man" were released as singles. There is no title track on the album, but the lyric "Awake" appears in the songs "Innocence Faded" and "The Silent Man".

It's a known fact that Dream Theater is an experience you should undergo when the band plays their compositions live on stage, especially when there is an entire orchestra behind them. Such a performance is recorded on this 4LP set, as part of the band's 20th Anniversary World Tour.

The Score: 20th Anniversary World Tour was first released in 2006. The live performance of Dream Theater classics are no less than thrilling, the first two LP's contain the band's exquisite renditions of classics like "The Root Of All Evil" or "Another Won".

The second half of this 4LP serving consists of the band's performance with The Octavarium Orchestra. The classic "Six Degrees Of Innocence" is spread out over two sides and album closer "Metropolis" finishes the Dream Theater experience in due style.

Megadeth spent the majority of 1995 on tour. It was their insane, four continent spanning Youthanasia Tour promoting the album of the same name that had been released in November of 1994. By the time they hit São Paulo, Brazil in the beginning of September they had already played more than 100 shows that year and were a band displaying prowess and tightness that only comes from honing chops every night. An absolutely stunning set in front of a massive Brazilian crowd, some of the greatest metalheads on earth! Essential live broadcast from one of metal's most important acts.
