The Doors had one of the most extraordinary debut years in music history in 1967, releasing a string of hit singles and two platinum albums, beginning in January with the band's self-titled debut, followed by Strange Days in September. The latter peaked at #3 on the Billboard album chart and featured classics like Love Me Two Times,' When The Music's Over,' and the title track Strange Days.'

STRANGE DAYS (50TH ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION) was produced by the album's original engineer Bruce Botnick. It includes the original stereo mix of the album on CD for the first time in a decade, with sound that's been remastered for the first time in 30 years. The second disc features the album's original mono mix, which has been remastered for this set and is making its CD debut. Accompanying the set are liner notes by music journalist David Fricke, as well as a selection of rare and previously unseen photographs.

Having a larger budget for Strange Days allowed the band to spend more time experimenting in the studio. They used an eight-track recorder for the first time, which resulted in some memorable overdubs like Krieger's double-tracked guitar on When The Music's Over.' Surprisingly, the trippy keyboard sound heard on the album's title track is actually one of the earliest appearances of a Moog synthesizer in a rock song.

Strange Days mixed new songs written on the road with some written before the band's 1967 debut. In fact, the band performed Strange Days' during its 1966 residency at the London Fog in L.A., while My Eyes Have Seen You' dates back to 1965. Another early track is Moonlight Drive,' which was one of the very first songs that the band practiced together, and where the band heard Krieger's haunting bottleneck guitar playing for the first time. It's also the song Morrison sang to Manzarek at Venice Beach in 1965 when the two former UCLA film students reconnected and decided to start the Doors.

1967's I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die, the second album from Bay Area psych-rock band Country Joe & The Fish, followed hot on the heels of their breakout debut from earlier the same year, but it represented a major step forward in both material and overall sound achieved by Vanguard Records' producer Sam Charters. Accessible and very much in tune with the alternative culture of the mid-60s, it quickly became one of the cornerstone releases of the new 'psychedelic rock' explosion. The album is opened and anchored by the live standard "The Fish Cheer" and famous anti-Vietnam protest song "I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag."

Out of This World is the fourth studio album by the Swedish rock band Europe, originally released in 1988. Four singles were released from the album: Superstitious', Open Your Heart', Let the Good Times Rock' and More Than Meets the Eye'.

Superstitious' was the first single released from the album and is arguably one of Europe's most recognizable and popular songs.

In 2004, Morrissey invited the legendary band to play a very special show at the Meltdown Festival in London at Royal Festival Hall. Simply put, the results were fantastic and found the Dolls playing better than ever after 30 years.

The Grateful Dead forged its legend on the road, traveling countless miles between 1965 and 1995 to perform a world record 2,318 shows for millions of devoted fans. The band's refusal to ever play a song the same way twice has endeared generations of fans, many of whom prefer certain live versions of songs over their studio counterparts, and garnered the popular phrase among Dead Heads: There is nothing like a Grateful Dead concert.'

The live albums the band released during its 30-year career are the primary source for the collection, including tracks like Bertha' from Grateful Dead (Skull & Roses) (1971), Fire On The Mountain' from Dead Set (1981), and The Music Never Stopped' from One From the Vault (1991). A testament to its ongoing popularity, the revered double-album Europe '72 (1972), is represented by no less than five tracks, including Sugar Magnolia,' Jack Straw' and a searing rendition of Morning Dew.'

Other performances on the set were selected from the growing number of live releases that have emerged since the death of founding member Jerry Garcia in 1995. Some of those recordings include Touch Of Grey' from Truckin' Up To Buffalo (2005), a 1990 version of Eyes Of The World' with saxophonist Branford Marsalis featured on Wake Up To Find Out (2014), and Estimated Prophet,' which debuted earlier this year as part of Cornell 5/8/77, a recording of the Grateful Dead's mythic show at Cornell University in 1977, thought by many to be the band's greatest live performance.

Made for die-hard Dead Heads and new fans alike, The Best Of The Grateful Dead Live Vol. 1 1969-1977 will be available as a on 180-gram vinyl as a 2-LP set, covering the first half of the album, on March 23rd. The music will be available through digital and streaming services as well.

South London members Alan Lancaster (bass) and Francis Rossi (guitar) were the original members and founders of Status Quo. Formerly known as The Spectres and later renamed to Traffic or Traffic Jam they settled for Status Quo as their band name in 1967. The following years they were joined by John Coghlan (drums), Roy Lynes (keyboard) and Rick Parfitt (guitar †2016), and after several band members changes are still performing today in a revamped line-up.

In 1968 their first hit record Pictures of Matchstick Men' was released and the debut album soon followed. The subsequent years Status Quo, or simply Quo, enjoyed a multitude of hits, Mean Girl', Down Down', Rockin' All Over The World', The Wanderer', In The Army Now', Roll Over Lay Down (Live)', all climbed the charts in different countries.

During the years Status Quo developed their own signature style of heavy rhythms, a few guitar chords, straightforward, accessible lyrics and collected a huge and loyal fan base. In 2006 NME magazine named Status Quo The Most Successful UK band' as they achieved more chart hits than any other British band.

The 2 LP Collected compilation is an era spanning selection of Status Quo including the hits, 4 original mono recordings Pictures Of Matchstick Men', Ice In The Sun', I (Who Have Nothing)' by The Spectres, Almost But Not Quite There' by Traffic Jam and is newly remastered for vinyl.

This limited edition is pressed on purple vinyl, includes a 4-page booklet with liner notes and is packed in a limited gatefold embossed guitar' sleeve. Once the first pressing is sold out, the Collected album is available on black vinyl.

In the spring of 1962, folk music manager Albert Grossman began to take an active interest in Dylan. He proposed that Dylan sign with the prestigious publisher M. Witmark & Sons. Dylan signed a contract with Witmark on July 12 and immediately recorded a demo of what would become his breakthrough song, "Blowin' in the Wind". Four months passed before Dylan returned to record another song, "Ye Playboys and Playgirls", but the next month, in December, he showed up with many new compositions, including three that would become classics of his, "A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall", "Ballad of Hollis Brown", and "Tomorrow Is a Long Time". All of Dylan's 1962 demos for Witmark are reproduced here on Wax Love.

As America left the clouds of world war behind, no-one personified their hopes and dreams more than the beautiful, freckle-faced Doris Day. The nation's favourite blonde was not only an in-demand singer but an Oscar-winning actress - yet she remained engagingly modest and unfailingly approachable. The Hollywood mood of the Fifties was light and upbeat, and Day was very much in tune with the times. Enjoy this superb LP with some of her best songs.

'N SYNC is the self-titled debut studio album by American boy band 'N SYNC (also written as N SYNC and NSYNC), originally released in 1997. 'N SYNC consisted of Justin Timberlake, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass.

Beauty And The Beast is the latest in the series of special limited edition David Bowie 7' picture discs being released and will be out on 5th January 2018, almost 40 years to the day of its original release on 6th January 1978.

Beauty And The Beast was the second single taken from the album Heroes, the second of the Berlin Trilogy albums recorded with Tony Visconti and Brian Eno at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin. The track also features Robert Fripp of King Crimson on lead guitar, who claims that his guitar was all recorded in his first take.

The A-Side of the 7' picture disc features the track with newly remastered audio, mixed by long-time Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti. The AA-Side is a previously unreleased live version of Blackout, recorded live at Deutschlandhalle, Berlin on 16th May 1978 during the ISOLAR II tour.

You just need to listen to the sound quality of the 1960 'Living Stereo' version of the 'Elvis Is Back' album, to appreciate just how much the recording industry had moved on in just two years. Such was the demand for stereo records in the early 1960's most major labels had created their own process for converting mono into stereo or 'fake' stereo as it became known, with some labels producing better results than others. Opinions on Elvis' 1960's electronically reprocessed stereo versions are mixed, with some recordings making the transition from mono to stereo effect better than others. Some DJ's actually preferred playing the electronically reprocessed stereo versions, believing they gave a wider fuller sound on the dancefloor. By late 1970's, RCA had once again begun to re-issue original mono masters, giving many fans their first opportunity to hear how these tracks were originally issued. By the time compact discs had arrived on the scene in the 1980's, electronically reprocessed stereo was well and truly dead and buried. Very few electronically reprocessed stereo recordings ever made it onto a digital format and the few that did are now highly collectible. Recorded at RCA Studio 1, New York on the 30th of January 1956, My Baby Left Me is a driving powerhouse rockabilly masterpiece with a real Sun Records vibe to it (produced by Steve Scholes with Elvis on vocals and acoustic guitar, Scotty Moore on electric guitar, Bill Black on bass and D.J. Fontana on drums). Our flip side Blue Moon Of Kentucky is another rockabilly classic which first appeared as the opposite side to That's All Right (Sun 209) in 1955 (Elvis' first single). Hailing from Britain, with origins in Guyana, Jamaica, and St. Vincent, critics and historians agree that the world simply wasn't ready for Cymande. Formed in 1971, the band would become renowned for their progressive, and complex brand of funk music, which fused elements of calypso, jazz, R&B, African music, and British glam rock. Despite touring with Al Green, performing at venues like The Apollo and Soul Train, and having a Billboard R&B hit, Cymande languished in obscurity before disbanding in 1974, only to develop a widespread cult following over the years, and become a treasure trove for crate diggers and beatsmiths. Though their debut album was not a monster hit for Cymande, it allowed them enough fortunes to re-locate to the US, where they further developed their distinct blend of world-influenced funk, and took in the political climate. Their stay in America led to their 2nd album, 1973's Second Time Round, which cultivated afro-inspired arrangements, as well as fusions of reggae and jazz, and a touch of social commentary thrown in. While Second Time Round didn't reach even the minor level of success of Cymande's debut, it did render a dancehall monster in the track "Fug", and numerous other underrated soulful classics. A definite must for any deep funk historian worth their salt.

The Doors' 50th anniversary celebration continues this summer with a new Singles collections that spotlight every single and B-side the band released in the U.S., all gathered together for the first time.

THE SINGLES shows the creative chemistry shared by drummer John Densmore, guitarist Robby Krieger, keyboardist Ray Manzarek, and vocalist Jim Morrison, four brilliant artists who made The Doors one of America's most iconic and influential rock bands.
The collection includes the single versions from all six of the landmark studio albums the quartet released between 1967 and 1971, including classics like People Are Strange,' Love Her Madly' and Riders On The Storm.' Also included on the CD versions are four mono radio versions of some of the band's biggest hits, such as Hello, I Love You' and Touch Me,' which have never been made available anywhere after being sent to radio around their original release. The B-sides - many of which are making their CD debut - add another dimension to the band's legacy with such stellar tracks as Who Scared You,' which appeared in March 1969 as the flipside to Wishful Sinful,' and a cover of Willie Dixon's (You Need Meat) Don't Go No Further,' which was paired with the 1971 smash Love Her Madly.'
THE SINGLES also features several songs released after Morrison's passing in 1971. Among those recordings are tracks the surviving trio recorded together ( Tightrope Ride' and The Mosquito'), as well as live selections from posthumous releases ( Roadhouse Blues' and Gloria.')
The Blu-ray disc that accompanies the expanded version of THE SINGLES features a high-resolution Quadraphonic mix of The Best Of The Doors. After cutting his teeth playing with Fela in the 70's and releasing two afrobeat LP's Kingsley travelled the globe before finding himself in London, it's here that he laid down 6 distinctive electro-funk tunes inspired by African rhythms and music he'd heard through his travels in the States and in Europe. Originally issued on Kinglsley's own KAB records in '85 and according to Kingsley the release was well received at the time, but due to constraints of international marketing the record remained mostly unknown outside of his homeland. Fast-forward to 2017 and the stage is set for a new global audience to appreciate the distinct sound of KB.

Considering Jerry was the most recorded musician of all time, there's always some overlooked gem just waiting to be discovered.

Originally released in early 1976, Garcia's third solo outing Reflections features a diverse mix of roots-oriented styles with contributions from his two primary vehicles of musical expression - the Grateful Dead and the Jerry Garcia Band. In some ways, Reflections picks up where Garcia and the Dead left off on Blues For Allah. Speaking about the sessions, Garcia explained "we were having fun in the studio is what it boils down to, and that's pretty rare for us. The energy was there, and I thought, 'I've got a solo album coming up. Let's cut these tracks with the Grateful Dead. I've already taught them the tunes.'"

Assembled in Bob Weir's home studio, Ace's, Garcia and the Dead laid down well-worn but never previously recorded songs including "They Love Each Other," "It Must Have Been The Roses" and "Comes A Time" plus a new song, Robert Hunter's "Might As Well" - a document of the Dead's 1970 trip across Canada aboard the legendary Festival Express. The balance of the record showcases the late-1975 Jerry Garcia Band core featuring John Kahn, Ron Tutt and Nicky Hopkins, plus Larry Knechtel of the famed Wrecking Crew. Like the material recorded by the Dead, the Jerry Garcia Band's selections were also road-tested prior to recording. The cuts included the seminal Garcia/Hunter ballad "Mission in the Rain" plus renditions of Hank Ballard's rocker "Tore Up Over You," "Catfish John" and Allen Toussaint's "I'll Take A Melody."

As Steve Silberman noted in the 2004 All Good Things box set, while Reflections was effectively two half-albums in one, "it's one of Garcia's most artistically unified statements of harmony, affirmation and joy."

One of his finest overall albums outside of the Dead, the beloved 9-track collection features all original material including a pair of songs by longtime collaborator John Kahn as well as a spate of Garcia-Hunter gems (the title track and "Gomorrah" became Dead staples). Keith and Donna Godchaux, Merl Saunders and Maria Muldaur also appear here. Although not necessarily a financial success Cats Under The Stars remained one of Jerry's favorite recordings, "The record I worked hardest at and liked best was Cats Under The Stars. That was kind of like my baby...(Cats Under The Stars) had everything - chops, production, songs."
