In a career spanning over 50 years James Brown became known as a progenitor of funk music and influencing the development of many other genres. All his hit songs, hidden gems and collaborations are now bundled on Collected. It contains 29 songs, including music from his early days with the Famous Flames, the J.B.’s and a wide collection of tracks from his solo career.

Brown began his career as a gospel singer and joined a rhythm and blues vocal group, the Famous Flames, as the lead singer in the 1950s. Later on he formed his own band and released successful singles as “Papa’s Got a Brand New Bag”, “I Got You (I Feel Good)” and “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World”. While developing the funk to a new level he created the J.B.’s, with which he scored hits like “Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine” and “The Payback”. Brown was inducted into 1st class of the Rhythm & Blues Music Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Songwriters Hall of Fame. During the years he gained different honorific nicknames including “Godfather of Soul”, “Mr. Dynamite”, and “Soul Brother No. 1”.

When BOB hit the stage at the legendary Quartier Latin club during the Berlin Independence Days on October 21 1991, they were talking loud and saying something.
BOB had been touring relentlessly for five years. All over the UK and Europe. Headlining their own shows and supporting some of the biggest names in indie rock, but this gig was something else. It couldn’t have happened in any other place, or, at any other time.
In Berlin, the wall had come down two years previous.Things were changing. There was a freedom of movement, unknown for many decades. You could grasp the spirit of creativity.
In London, the underground indie scene of the mid to late 80’s was being replaced by the corporate music marketing machine they called Britpop.
On this recording we capture a milestone moment of this time.

Oliver Nelson was an American jazz saxophonist, clarinetist, arranger, composer and bandleader. Oliver was born into a musical family in Missouri (his brother was a saxophonist who played with Cootie Williams in the 1940s, and his sister sang and played piano) so he began learning to play the piano when he was six and started on the saxophone at the age of eleven. In 1947 Nelson already started playing in local bands in and around the Saint Louis area. After his military service Nelson returned to Missouri to study music composition and theory. Upon completing his education and getting his degree, Oliver moved to New York City, playing with Erskine Hawkins and Wild Bill Davis, and working as the house arranger for the Apollo Theater. In the late 1950s he was the leader of various groups and began recording for Prestige Records
.
From 1960 to 1961, he played with legendary artists such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington before joining the Quincy Jones big band (touring both in the U.S. and in Europe). After recording many successful records on various labels he had already made a name for himself as a distinctive composer/arranger and moved to Los Angeles where he started composing background music for television and films (including large productions such as Columbo and The Six Million Dollar Man). He also arranged Gato Barbieri's music for Last Tango in Paris.
Next to his own recordings…in the following decade Oliver Nelson has worked as an arranger, writer and instrumentalist on large ensemble albums for artists such as Thelonious Monk, Leon Thomas, Burning Spear and Louis Armstrong. Next to his Prestige and Impulse! albums he also recorded for big labels such as Capitol, Columbia and Verve Records. Nelson produced albums for big acts from the likes of James Brown, The Temptations and Diana Ross. Oliver Nelson’s work was sampled on records by Moby, Beastie Boys, DJ Shadow, J Dilla and countless others. But he is perhaps best remembered for his 1960 Impulse! album The Blues and the Abstract Truth, often regarded as being among the most significant recordings of its era. Oliver Nelson was unfortunately lost to the world of Jazz in 1975 when he died aged 43 from a heart attack. He left us with an impressive legacy…to say the least.
Today we present to you another classic recording by Mr. Nelson (Skull Session) recorded in 1975 for the ‘Flying Dutchman’ label. Here on this album, Oliver Nelson plays with a HUGE all-star line-up consisting of Jerome Richardson (Miles Davis-Alice Coltrane), Bud Shank (Ravi Shankar-Astrud Gilberto), Bill Perkins (Dizzy Gillespie-Charlie Parker), Chuck Domanico (Prince-Mary J. The great wealth of multifaceted skills is Ralph Heidel's core identity, evident in the attempt to classify his music into a genre. Drone Jazz, Organic Glitch, Neo Classic, Jazztronica, all these terms apply when we read about his music. He began his career as a saxophonist and by now has also become a highly requested composer and arranger for a wide variety of productions. The 28-year-old musician was signed by Mathias Modica (Gomma, ToyTonics) for the Kryptox label, while he was still studying at the Musikhochschule München. Heidel released his debut album"Moments of Resonance" (2019) with his eight-piece ensemble Homo Ludens, followed by his EP "Relief" (2021). This grandiose prelude received applause on an international level. BBC6 presenter Mary Anne Hobbs, decided right away to exclusively feature Ralph Heidel on her radio show.

Out of This World is the fourth studio album by the Swedish rock band Europe, originally released in 1988. It included four singles, “Open Your Heart”, “Let The Good Times Rock”, “More Than Meets The Eye” and “Superstitious”. The latter is arguably one of Europe’s most popular songs. The album was produced by Ron Nevison, who has been recognized four times by Billboard Magazine’s Top-5 Producer of the Year, has been nominated for several Grammy’s and worked with iconic bands as Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Thin Lizzy and Meat Loaf amongst many others.

The Iveys had been a moderately successful Swansea-based beat group in the mid-sixties performing cover versions of the latest pop and soul records before they engaged Liverpudlian Bill Collins as their manager. Collins had known the Beatles back in 1962-63 and was chummy with their road manager Mal Evans, who came along to an Iveys gig in January 1968. This led to the group being signed by Apple Records for a three-year deal. Tom Evans’ composition Maybe Tomorrow was the first single. Although it bombed in the UK and USA, it was an international smash released in 20 countries worldwide. “We felt our original name was too nice. And people kept asking us if we were the old Ivy League.” In November 1969, The Iveys changed their name to Badfinger to coincide with the release of their recording of the Paul McCartney song, Come And Get It. Side One of this set contains songs recorded by the Iveys for the BBC in 1969, and Side Two consists of Badfinger sessions from 1970 for the BBC and a couple of tracks* for the German TV programme, Beat Club. Recording quality is excellent throughout except for Birthday and Nobody where unfortunately a better quality source was not available.

WRWTFWW Records is very happy to reissue Swiss cult band Grauzone's self-titled album in an expanded 40 Years Anniversary Edition packed with the original 1981 album plus 9 extra songs, as well as extensive liner notes by Swiss music historian Lurker Grand. The 19-track album is available as a double LP vinyl in heavy 350gsm sleeve and a digipack CD, both sourced from the original reels and put together under the supervision of band member and all around legend Stephan Eicher.

The pioneering band from Bern (Switzerland) had a short-lived but highly-regarded career which birthed a cult discography that still fascinates and resonates today. Consisting of core members Martin Eicher, Stephan Eicher, and Marco Repetto, and on-and-off participants Christian GT Trüssel, Claudine Chirac, and Ingrid Berney, the elusive group broke new grounds in the early 80s, experimenting with punk and industrial music, early techno sounds, minimalism, new wave, pop, and various electronics. With an innovative and polished approach to design, visuals, performance, and all around style and philosophy on top of their superb music, the constantly transforming unit developed a whole experience - the Grauzone experience: wild and unpredictable, yet sophisticated and cohesive, or as Swiss music historian Lurker Grand would call it, "an Art band with a Punk attitude".

Completely rejecting the music industry rules and refusing to play the game of promotion, touring, release schedules, and TV appearances even though they had a multi-platinum international hit with the song "Eisbär", the band quickly disintegrated in full convention-defying glory, leaving behind an inspiring music legacy for the world to discover and discover again, one generation after the other.

This extended version of their debut (and only) album beautifully crystallizes the Grauzone miracle/accident - where pop and youthful experimentation meet at (new/cold/no) wave and industrial crossroads, and where classic hits ("Eisbär", "FILM 2", "Raum", "Träume Mit Mir", "Der Weg Zu Zweit"…) flawlessly mesh with unconventional deep cuts ("In Der Nacht", "Film 1", "Maikäfer Flieg"…). Stephan Eicher went on to be, arguably, the most successful Swiss musician ever, with an international career extending from pop chanson to experimental escapades and collaborations with Moondog, artists Sophie Calle and Sylvie Fleury, and author Martin Suter among many other luminaries. Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of international superstar Shakira's first English language album with the release of Laundry Service
(Washed and Dried) (an expanded digital edition featuring four bonus tracks new to DSPs) on Friday, November 12 and a special, yellow opaque 12” vinyl edition to follow on 17th December in the US and
the UK/EU on 7th January 2022.

The tracklist for the vinyl mirrors the original tracklist from 2001, however the newly expanded 20th anniversary digital edition of Shakira's Laundry Service (Washed and Dried) premieres the previouslyunreleased remix of "Whenever, Wherever" from Shakira's electrifying halftime performance at Super Bowl LIV (February 2, 2020), the previously unreleased "Whenever, Wherever (Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show Remix),“. Laundry Service (Washed and Dried) also offers three more bonus tracks newly available on DSPs: "Whenever, Wherever" (Sahara remix), "Underneath Your Clothes" (acoustic version) and "Objection (Tango)" (Afro-punk version).

Before they hit it big with Phil Spector and his Phillies label, the vocal trio from Harlem known as The Ronettes recorded numerous sides for Colpix Records. Two sisters (Veronica, later known as Ronnie Spector, and Estelle Bennett) and their cousin (Nedra Talley), first began performing at local sock hops and bar mitzvahs around Manhattan in the early 60s under the name Ronnie and The Relatives. It was under this name that they recorded several sides for Colpix Records in 1961-1962, all great slices of early sixties pop/R&B, though none of which managed to chart. A name change to The Ronettes and more great singles were released in 1963 (including the killer interpretation of The Ray's doo wop classic "Silhouettes"), but again, success eluded the group. They soon were performing with their over-the-top hair on Murray The K's legendary live program and, disappointed with their lack of success on Colpix, placed a call to audition for Phil Spector and the rest, as they say, is history. However, despite Colpix's inability to find airplay and sales for the group, these early sides nonetheless show glimpses of the greatness that was to come and are fantastic sides of early 60s pop in their own right. Das neue Album der in Montreal ansässigen Ikone der modern-klassischen Musik zeigt eine neue Seite des Künstlers, oder wie er sagt Neben der Entscheidung, für ein Ensemble zu schreiben, hat Blais auch andere Parameter für das Projekt festgelegt. ”Mit diesem Album habe ich definitiv auf bestimmte Trends in der klassischen Musik reagiert”, meint Blais.

”Zum Beispiel die Tatsache, dass das Soloklavier dazu neigt, immer melancholisch zu klingen. Das ist gut, aber das habe ich schon gemacht, ich wollte darüber hinausgehen. Es war auch
das erste Mal, dass ich so viel in Dur und nicht in Moll geschrieben habe. So viel Klaviermusik, vor allem in der modernen klassischen Musikwelt, steht in Moll. Ich wollte dorthin gehen, ohne dabei kitschig zu sein. Was ich in dieser Zeit am meisten liebte, war, zu laufen oder Rad zu fahren, während ich mir meine Demos anhörte und beobachtete, wie die Natur in die Stadt zurückkehrte, während es so ruhig war.

Die Natur geriet einfach außer Kontrolle.” Blais zögert, ”Aubades” als ein Pandemie-Album oder gar ein Trennungsalbum
zu bezeichnen. ”Das sind Dinge, die wir alle erleben”, sagt er. ”Aber gleichzeitig war es ein sehr fruchtbarer Moment der Kreativität für mich.

Vangelis, ein Pionier der elektronischen Musik, hat mit seiner sich ständig erweiternden Fantasie und seinen innovativen Experimenten wie niemand zuvor die perfekte Verbindung zwischen der akustischen und der elektronischen Welt geschaffen. •Brian Jones performs on only two tracks: playing the autoharp on You Got the Silver, and percussion on Midnight Rambler – he was replaced by Mick Taylor during the recording, who plays guitar on two tracks – Country Honk and Live with Me, as well as on Honky Tonk Women (recorded during the Let It Bleed sessions).
•Like Beggars Banquet the year before, the dominant influence was American roots music – drawing heavily from gospel (apparent in Gimmie Shelter and You Can’t Always Get What You Want), country music of Hank Williams and Jimmie Rodgers (Country Honk), Chicago blues (Midnight Rambler) and country rock on the title track.
•Recording for Let It Bleed began in earnest in February 1969, recorded mainly at Olympic Studios in London and was originally scheduled for release in July 1969. Although “Honky Tonk Women” was released as a single that month, the album itself suffered numerous delays and was eventually released in December 1969, after the band’s US tour.
•The lyricism found on Let It Bleed is often noted for its violent and cynical undercurrents. Jann S. Wenner, in a 1995 Rolling Stone interview with Jagger, described the album’s songs as “disturbing” the scenery as “ugly” and asked Jagger if the Vietnam War played a role in the album’s worldview. Jagger said:
“I think so. Even though I was living in America only part time, I was influenced. All those images were on television. Plus, the spill out onto campuses”.

•The album cover shows a surreal sculpture designed by Robert Brownjohn. The cake was made by then-unknown cookery writer Delia Smith!
•The cover for Let It Bleed was among the ten chosen by the Royal Mail for a set of “Classic Album Cover” postage stamps issued in January 2010.

Who does not remember the legendary lyrics? The synth sounds, the drum echoes, the pumping beat and the vocals starting with „Rhythm Is A Dancer“?

On March 30th, in 1992, German Eurodance act Snap! released the single „Rhythm Is A Dancer“, which soon turned out to be a worldwide hit, charting on #1 in several countries across the world. The track had been originally released as part of the platinum long-player „The Madman‘s Return“ on March 24th. With their iconic single Snap! ultimately started the Eurodance wave and created a hype which continues to this day.

Optimo Music Archiv is a new offshoot label for revisiting music JD Twitch has been a big fan of for a very long time. This first release takes 5 Force Dimension favourites and reconfigures them as an extended EP / mini album.

The songs are untouched but have been remastered for 21st Century ears.

“Tension” comes in two versions, one from each version of their debut album. Oddly they put out an original version (Blue), they decided they didn’t like it and re-recorded it. Both versions of Tension rule.

200 FA is an end of the night anthem. A perfect piece of E Music that crossed over into the early 90s Rave era and still much sough after to this day.

Aqua 2000 and All Systems Out are too Belgian bombs that still slay dancefloors today.

This career spanning retrospective box set features 10 black Vinyl LPs, complete with newly remastered versions of all five of their Mute/Geffen albums, That Total Age, Belief, Showtime, Ebbhead, and Big Hit, plus 5 LPs of 29 bonus tracks, featuring B-sides, and rare 12” mixes. The original artwork for each album has been expanded into gatefold sleeves, with embossing and spot UV finish. It also contains a large size 28-page booklet with linear notes by Douglas McCarthy and Bon Harris and unseen photos, flyers and artwork. The box also has accommodated their first self released album Basic Pain Procedure, from 1983 and their last release Industrial Complex from 2010, by leaving adequate space inside, to complete the collection by the fans, as these titles have been in print in recent years.

Gleichzeitig feiern die australischen Rock-Legenden damit ihr Debüt beim SONY-BMG-Label Columbia. "Black Ice" entstand unter der Regie von Star-Produzent Brendan O'Brien (Rage Against The Machine, Springsteen, Pearl Jam, Incubus, u.v.a.) in den Warehouse Studios in Vancouver. Abgemischt wurden die Songs vom kanadischen Juno-Award-Preisträger Mike Fraser, der neben zahllosen AC/DC-Meisterwerken auch entscheidend an Alben von Aerosmith, Dio, Biffy Clyro, Motley Crue, Van Halen und Slipknot mitgewirkt hatte. Ende Oktober startet die Band zu ihrer ersten Welt-Tournee seit 2001.

Mit "Rock 'N Roll Train" brachten Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams und Phil Rudd bereits den ersten Vorab-Song des Albums aufs (Hit-)Gleis: Kurz nach dem offiziellen Radio-Date schoß das AC/DC-Brett in den Top 100 der deutschen Airplay-Charts. Und auch die weiteren vierzehn Stücke auf "Black Ice" haben es in sich. "Es sind viele starke Songs auf dem Album - denn darum geht es ja letzten Endes bei einer Band. Man ist immer nur so gut wie seine Songs", erklärt Gitarrist Angus Young, "manche Stücke muss man ein zweites und drittes Mal hören, aber das finde ich sehr positiv - wenn die Songs mit jedem Hören wachsen." "Es ist das beste Album, das wir je gemacht haben. Schlicht und einfach", ergänzt Sänger Brian Johnson, "'Back in Black' war großartig für seine Zeit, bzw. es ist ein zeitloses Werk. Kick, the sixth and best-selling 1987 studio album by Australian band INXS, has the unmistakable sound personified by its four U.S. Top 10 singles, "New Sensation," "Never Tear Us Apart," "Devil Inside" and "Need You Tonight," — which reached the top of the U.S. Billboard singles charts.

Between 1980 and 1984, INXS released four studio albums and had toured their native country Australia extensively. With Kick, producer Chris Thomas fused the funk and soul of their previous album The Swing with the mainstream rock of Listen Like Thieves. In an interview with MusicRadar, Andrew Farriss stated, "The melding of funk and rock was always in our heads. We were very excited about the idea of overlaying two types of songs and genres together."
