Gut zwei Jahre nach seinem erfolgreichen "Privateering"-Album, das in Deutschland direkt auf Platz 1 der Media Control Charts einstieg, meldet sich der mehrfache Grammy-Gewinner Mark Knopfler im Frühjahr mit seinem achten Soloalbum zurück: Auf Tracker präsentiert Mark Knopfler seine scharfsinnigen, zutiefst persönlichen Beobachtungen mit dem für ihn so typischen, trockenen Humor und setzt auch musikalisch wieder einmal auf subtile Kompositionen und stilistische Vielfalt.

Produziert wurde Tracker, wie übrigens schon die beiden Vorgängeralben, von Knopfler selbst, wobei ihm in den Londoner British Grove Studios wieder einmal Guy Fletcher als Co-Produzent zur Seite stand. Während er selbst sämtliche Gitarren einspielte, zeigte sich Fletcher zudem für die Keyboards verantwortlich, während die Stammgäste John McCusker (Geige), Mike McGoldrick (Flöte), Glenn Worf (Bass) und Ian Thomas (Schlagzeug) die Studioband komplettierten. Zu den weiteren Albumgästen zählen Ruth Moody (The Wailin' Jennys) am Mikrofon, Nigel Hitchcock am Saxofon und Phil Cunningham am Akkordeon.

Tracker erscheint als Standard-CD & Download, Doppel-LP, limitierte Deluxe-CD mit vier Bonustracks sowie als exklusives limited Super Deluxe Box, in dem sowohl die CD als auch die Vinyl-Version enthalten sind, sowie obendrein eine Bonus-CD mit sechs weiteren Tracks und eine DVD, auf der ein Kurzfilm von Regisseur Henrik Hansen und ein Interview mit Mark zu sehen sind, in dessen Rahmen er die Entstehung des neuen Albums erläutert. Great chance to get your hands on three of rock legend Chicago's most dance-friendly moments loud-pressed on one slab of 12' vinyl. Starts with the highly-desired special Columbia promo-only disco version of the 1979 classic 'Street Player', a magnificent funky disco cut spun by discerning DJs such as Harvey and Derrick Carter and made famous again when Kenny Dope sampled it to great effect for his Bucketheads' hit 'The Bomb'. Next up is another great disco-rock cut 'I'm A Man' - a Glimmers and Rub'n'Tug favourite, this burns dancefloors with hypnotically intense funky bass, relentless guitar and instantly recognizable synth lines. And last but definitely not least is big Balearic track 'Happy Cause I'm Going Home', a divine folk-funk chugger plucked from the relative obscurity of the band's 1971 Chicago III LP. Superb!

Inspired by a great passion for Astor Piazzolla's tango, The Soul Of The Tango is a critically acclaimed and essential work of the "Nuevo Tango", played by Yo-Yo Ma's world famous cello and many of Piazzolla's former friends and colleagues.

Piazzolla's old guitarists Sergio and Odair Assad even showed up to work on a pair of tracks arranged by Sergio: the "Tango Suite" (consisting of "Andante" and "Allegro"). The sheer beauty of one of Piazzolla's tangos is generally enough to warrant the purchase of an album involving these two. An album such as this one, where all of the songs are compositions by Piazzolla is even better. Add to this the masterful playing of Ma, and the surprising facility in which the cello fits into the tango, and you've got what is a classic album.

The album begins with "Libertango', a composition from Piazzolla's first album that became the theme song for the movie The Tango Lesson. Following is the pair of tracks in the "Tango Suite" from Sergio Assad. Then comes "Sur: Regreso al Amor', a softer work, though with some definite virtuosity displayed. "Le Grand Tango" is an eleven minute tour de force in the tango. "Tango Remembrances" is a particularly nice work, due to the appearance of Piazzolla's own playing. "Milonga del Angel" is a seemingly sentimental work that shows off Piazzolla's ability to express the emotions of a song perfectly and purely. To finish the album, Ma presents "Cafe
1930", a rather slow paced work, but again, as in the previous song, expresses emotion very fully in its nostalgia.

Overall, the album is a stunning work of art, and even those that may not have heard of Piazzolla could easily be lured to his music via this single album.

Following their debut EP with 'Ezra Was Right' and support from the likes of Gilles Peterson, Grandbrothers are presenting their debut album 'Dilation". Twelve modern Experimental / Ambient / Piano pieces, whose sounds are generated completely out of a grand piano using small electromagnetic hammers. Grandbrothers are Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel. After meeting at university in Dusseldorf, Erol and Lukas formed Grandbrothers to tie together their respective musical backgrounds and disciplines: Erol is a trained jazz pianist, while by day Lukas constructs synthesizers at Access Music. Together, they create a sound that combines classical composition with modern, experimental production and sound design. Their first song, 'Ezra Was Right', earned an early supporter in the esteemed Gilles Peterson, who included the track on his Bubblers 10 compilation and played it numerous times on his Worldwide radio show for BBC Radio 6 Music, with the song eventually being voted #7 by listeners in his end-of-year poll in 2013. A full EP on FILM followed - backed by remixes from legendary Manchester DJ Greg Wilson, Optimo's JD Twitch, and Kim Brown - which sold out its initial run within ten days. Now, Grandbrothers present their debut album, Dilation. The product of two years work, Dilation builds on some of the ideas established on 'Ezra Was Right' while exploring further elements of minimalism, ambient music, IDM, and techno.

The Grateful Dead's long strange trip reaches an important mile marker this year with the celebration of the band's 50th anniversary. 2015 is already shaping up to be an epic year thanks to news of the original members reuniting for three final shows this July. A documentary about the Grateful Dead from award-winning filmmaker Amir Bar-Lev and executive producer Martin Scorsese has also been announced.

On October 21st, Verve Records will release LOVE TO LOVE YOU DONNA, a remix record celebrating her life and voice. The LP will be released October 28th.

Highlights from LOVE TO LOVE YOU DONNA include the legendary producer Giorgio Moroder's entirely re-imagined version of "Love to Love You Baby," originally recorded in November of 1975; Afrojack's take on 'I Feel Love,' and indie electro artists Hot Chip's interpretation of 'Sunset People.' Also included are remixes of 'Hot Stuff' by Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper, Laidback Luke's remix of 'MacArthur Park,' Duke Dumont's remix of 'Dim The Lights' and more.

Factory Benelux presents a deluxe double disc edition of Always Now, the debut album by cult Factory Records group Section 25, produced by legendary sonic architect Martin Hannett in 1981.
This new Factory Benelux 2xCD edition is housed in a miniature version of the folding pochette wallet designed by Peter Saville - famously one of the most expensive sleeves produced by Factory.
Recorded as a trio at Pink Floyd's Britannia Row studio in London, Always Now combined austere post-punk rhythms with elements of Can, Krautrock and modern psychedelia. Key tracks include Friendly Fires, Dirty Disco and New Horizon, along with non-albums singles Charnel Ground, Je Veux Ton Amour and Girls Don't Count - the latter produced by Ian Curtis and Rob Gretton (of Joy Division).
Disc 2 offers a wealth of fascinating extra tracks, all previously unreleased. These include a John Peel session from January 1981, a complete live show professionally recorded at Groningen (Netherlands) in October 1980, and alternate versions of several album tracks newly re-mastered from the original quarter-inch tapes.
One of the best albums Britain's second city has unleashed' (Uncut), In 1980 their bass-driven mantras were thoughtlessly dismissed as second-rate Joy Division, but hindsight judges them more kindly. The wind-dried skeins of their blasted guitar harmonics and skimped electronics gauntly cling to the songs' skeletal frames. With telltale titles like Babies in the Bardo their Buddhist interests hang heavy over these early stirrings. But, combining a bass-led drone with a characteristic groaning vocal, Charnel Ground succinctly pins down Section 25's pre-disco appeal' (The Wire)
