The much anticipated fourth dragSTER album will finally be released on Digipack CD and as a limited edition Red vinyl LP (with DL code) via John Robb's Louder Than War Records label on Friday 17th August 2018.
The Coventry (UK) based five piece have gained a worldwide unique cult-like following thanks to their enigmatic B-Movie inspired style of song-writing and adrenaline fuelled live performances led by the mesmerizing antics of their lead singer, Fi.

Well known for lacing their lyrics with political potency dragSTER have announced details of their fourth studio album which looks set to follow a similar tone to their previous releases ('Step Into The Death-Ray' 2006 Noisemaker Records; now deleted; 'Here Come The Meat Robots' 2010 STP Records, 'Dead Punk' 2014 STP Records);
The music is typically uncompromising, a full throttle assault on the senses that draws on both the bands punk roots and dirty born bad rock 'n' roll coupled with ominous predictions and opinions surrounding democracy, biased media, freedoms and the societal grip held by the shadowy elite powers that be. dragSTER, founder and guitarist, Diesel, said about the new record and it's direction; 'Anti-Everything came about from a real feeling of being manipulated by those with power who seem to see individual thought, art, and free speech as a threat''Anti-Everything' is the bands incendiary reaction; it's the band essentially lashing out, almost screaming, at the sheer apathy of the mainstream. It's their take on mass control, the use of the media as misinformation - fake news. War as creation, not a necessity, the drabness of working class life, technology as control, not freedom. The street littered with millions of surveillance cameras - not for the claimed safety, but for compliance.
The distinct cover art (a collaboration of both dragSTER and designer Marie Sindell at Scarletism Design) perfectly reflects this - it is deliberately Orwellian because that how is life today. Diesel added 'Musically we tried to capture the raw energy of our live shows, we've got something to say and we do it through born-bad spit rock n roll."

Unlike boxing, rock and roll is not renowned for great comebacks. A few missteps and then it's usually farewell, have a good life, who are you again Occasionally, though, a true heavy musical champ loses a bout only to re-emerge even stronger later. David Bowie, for example, went through a long fallow period before his renaissance. Paul Weller had a rocky few years before finding his feet as a solo artist. Now we can add a third era-defining voice to that list of champions who returned to reclaim their belt: Liam Gallagher.

After Beady Eye officially split in 2014, Liam found himself out of the bubble' of being in an organised rock group with all the appropriate management apparatus for the first time in twenty years. He fell hard. Suddenly just a regular geezer ( just a regular absolute legend' he clarifies), he had to consider what he was going to do. For a while, he toyed with the idea of moving to Majorca and living Sexy Beast-style' around the pool in the sun. He had a few holidays. He went for lots of jogs. He had a few pints. And he got divorced. And when all that was done he took a long look at himself in the mirror and remembered who he is and what he does. He's Liam Gallagher, son of Peggy Gallagher, of Burnage, Manchester, the best singer and frontman of his generation. So he decided to start singing some songs again. Majorca could wait.

Playing around in his own idiosyncratic style on a guitar at home in London, he surprised himself by writing a song. I am definitely not a professional at it,' he says, modestly. It's proper Frankenstein tackle. But I suppose everyone has their ways. Even Paul McCartney didn't just sit down and write Hey Jude straight away.'

The song that he wrote was a heavy dollop of soul-rock called Bold and strong enough to get him signed to Warner Bros. There was something there alright. Eventually, he had a whole batch of songs written which he demoed with a multi-instrumentalist called Dan McDougall in London before he started to meet producers and co-writers. Warner Bros said to me, 'Are you up for a bit of co-writing I was, like, 'never done that before. Why not'' He flew out to LA, met a few, but really hit it off with Greg Kurstin. Greg Kurstin played me a few ideas, we had a chat, swapped some ideas, sorted it out and before you know we had some more songs. I'm as surprised as anyone that it worked, but the songs we did are top.'

These songs include Liam's incredible first single as a solo artist, Wall Of Glass. If you had to make an equation of all the elements that made the early Oasis singles so apocalyptically good - i.e, huge waves of guitar hooks + melody you can't shake for...ever + thunderous rhythm + LIAM GALLAGHER'S VOICE delivering an unbelievably catchy chorus - then Wall Of Glass fits in the lineage perfectly. It's hard to recall a time he's sung better - it's like hearing him for the first time again, the same yearning menace that claimed a million hearts by the end of Supersonic's first chorus. His voice is definitely on point.

Yeah, well,' he almost agrees. I'm a good singer, man! Nine out of ten times I nail it. In a studio, without a doubt. Never done a shit vocal there.'

Regis' Downwards label presents an album of heavy hearted industrial songs from Ora Iso, making a kind of windswept, slowed-down and gothic pop variant that's essential listening if yr into HTRK, Tropic of Cancer or Clay Rendering. Ora Iso are an NYC-hailing band revolving around Indonesian-Australian, Kathleen Malay and New Yorker, Jason Kudo. Building on the rubbly ground of their Bathcat debut for Ba Da Bing!, the duo's mutual sense of entropy and ennui results in a classically scorched sound in Image Certifies, one laced with scornful sarcasm and a general dissatisfaction with the world, and yet somehow bolstered by the slightest promise of hope. Weighing in their heavy, bleeding hearts on 10 brittle dirges described by the band as 'A love letter to a society dying of its own self-induced cancers', Ora Iso play to Downwards' most maudlin aspects with a sound that clearly resonates with their previous releases by Eyeless In Gaza or Tropic Of Cancer, but here blessed with a strung-out, unyielding and lugubrious quality they can surely call their own. As will become patently obvious, Image Certifies is not a record that takes itself lightly, and when the mood is right, the blend of Kathleen Malay's stark, cracked, gothic vocals with Jason's Kudo's cranky as hell Vainio-esque instrumental backdrops is a perfect accompaniment to moments of introspection and misanthropy. From almost BM-styled beginnings on No Fish, their agenda becomes apparent as it grows into a slow rolling fog of distant, evocative vocals wailing worn-out nothings about 'the future' and 'the children' in an effortlessly sensuous and blank-eyed style that worms thru the record, peaking in highlights such as the jagged Dead Riot, and the folksier trudge of Pour It On Me, whilst the bollocked drums of From The Hallway To The Door and the exquisitely succinct Have I Gone Too Far packs a more gothic electronic crunch recalling NIN or Clay Rendering.

The Lyon band's recent collaborations with Virginie Despentes and Béatrice Dalle put them in the spotlight they deserved but this is just the latest chapter of a story started when they were young more than 25 years ago by Eric Aldéa and the drummer Franck Laurino. In the Deity Guns (89-93) and Bästard (93-98) and in a handful of albums (including productions by Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth or Andy Briant de Tortoise*), they were simply the pioneers of post-rock in France. And yet the chapter that arrives today almost resembles the "debut album" of a young band shot through with a fiery and insatiable desire to take on the world. A complex, distressing and oppressive world which is nonetheless rich in its very confusion. "Isn't it all a bit of a mess" seems to be suggested by the title of this new album "Is not That Mayhem' and its striking post-apocalyptic graphic art. There are no limits and who cares what tools, sounds and instruments are used There is trombone on the insistent instrumental We Blew It and even a kind of liturgical organ at the end of Five vs Six. The whole album catches hold of you with its hypnotic layering (Deranged, Myself as a Fool), a chorus in unstable equilibrium (Fake From The Start), an unstoppable rhythm (Marathon Woman walking force), a singular tone of voice (the almost blues-like Alligator Wine borrowed from Screamin' Jay Hawkins), a guitar riff as simple as a tree that hides the forest of variations, advancing from behind to play with neurons and sensations (Recife, 1974 ) ... This very productive trumpeter and bandleader hails from El Paso, Texas. 'Mucha Salsa' from 1978 is essentially an obscure salsa set from Ray Camacho - an artist who always seems willing to mix up styles in his music. That's definitely the case here, as Ray mixes straighter Latin modes with a few border touches - creating a hybrid of New York and Mexican modes that's pretty unique - but which also has some occasional funk and soul currents that are probably the record's strongest suit. Ray plays trumpet off course and the rest of the group includes guitar, trombone, and plenty of percussion - plus sax and piano from Manuel Palafox, who also handles arrangements. Titles include a great cover of "Low Rider", dubbed "El Pachuco", the Latin funk number "Tomas Al Timbal" and a funky take on Brass Construction's "Movin On". Plus the o so sweet cover of Aaron Neville's classic ballad 'Tell It Like It Is' here named 'Dime La Verdad'. The eagerly anticipated second album from System Of Hate will be released on Digipack CD and as a limited-edition vinyl LP (with DL code) via John Robb's Louder Than War Records label on Friday 3rd August 2018.
The Barnsley (UK) based five piece have gained a cult-like following thanks to their blackened post punk sound, drawing upon on influences from the likes of Killing Joke, and Theatre of Hate, but then applying their own ominous vibe.

'There Is No Madness Here' is a densely packed, delusional, psychotic joyride through the land that is System Of Hate, devoid of hope, full of despair and always with a brutal truth!

The album covers the usual System Of Hate obsessions; one's sanity, war, treachery, the death of mankind, blind faith, resurrection, crucifixion, love and much more.  

The band commented 'We haven't reinvented the wheel, but we have certainly pushed ourselves harder this time.  Every one of us has upped their game, be it musicianship, vocal ideas, or performance.  We knew more about what the studio was capable of and had so much more trust in Matt (@ Axis Studios) because we know him, and he was only going to help us, plus he trusted us - you only get that with time. '

With the previous album ('Unhallowed Ground' 2016 RET Records) a lot of the songs were written at home and evolved in both the rehearsal room and during live performance, this time more of the material was jammed out and written in rehearsals, never played live at all, before recording.

Push Pull, so named for the power struggles and co-dependency that goes on within any long-term relationship - including, but not only, marriage and a rock band - was produced by long-time pal (but first-time collaborator) Matt Wallace at his Studio Deluxe facility in the heart of the band's San Fernando Valley turf.
Dan Estrin told Louder Sound: We've been doing this from day one because we love it. We didn't do it for money or fame. It was our drug. Didn't need anything more than that. This is still like summer camp for adults. But these days, even my mom asks if there's a hit on the new record.'
We never stopped exchanging musical ideas,' says vocalist/guitarist Doug Robb, who co-founded the band with high school classmates, Dan Estrin and Chris Hesse, almost 20 years ago in Agoura Hills, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles he still calls home. We waited until we had enough material to start recording an album. We love creating music, even if no one else ever hears it.'

On June 8, Oakland, California's Howlin Rain return with The Alligator Bride, their fourth album of swampy, ragged, unapologetic rock 'n' roll. Led by Ethan Miller (co-founder of psych rockers Comets On Fire and Heron Oblivion), the band recorded the album with Eric King Riff' Bauer at the Mansion in San Francisco, direct to tape, in one or two takes. It's their first release on Silver Current Records, the artist-run label owned by Miller, and gleefully indebted to classic rock formations like the Grateful Dead's Europe '72 and Free's masterpiece of atmospheric, minimalist blues, 1969's Fire And Water. The guiding principle for The Alligator Bride was to create 'Neal Cassady Rock,'' says Miller. Which is to say, high energy, good-times adventure music, driving the hippie bus, shirtless and stoned, up for four days straight, and extremely fuzzy around the edges.' It's a fitting vision for the band: torn between eras, fuzzed out but full of soul, an epic perspective on what's come before and what lies ahead, woven into a cosmic tapestry of riffs, rhymes, and resonant frequencies.

Never before issued on vinyl, Silver Current presents Howlin Rain's selt-titled 2006 debut album, originally on CD only on Birdman Records! Formed in 2004 in San Francisco, the band features Ethan Miller (Comets On Fire, Heron Oblivion), John Moloney (shaman leader and percussionist for Boston's Sunburned Hand Of The Man) and Ian Gradek (bassist, iron worker, banjo-picker and world traveler). For a group of musicians who spend most of their time playing napalmwrecked avant-rock or underground improv, this is an opportunity to downshift and ease into some classic good-time jams—some yin to the more experimental yang of their better known projects. They draw from the resonance of The Dead, The Allman Brothers, Richard Brautigan, Exuma, Terry Reid, Golden Earring, CSNY (as well as Neil Young and Crazy Horse), Bob Dylan, Blue Cheer, CCR, Simon and Garfunkel, Randy Holden, White Heaven, Jimi Hendrix, Joe Walsh and anyone who's played piano on an album without actually knowing how to. They're equal parts dust, groove, folk, rock, dirt, mercury, earth, beer, watermelon, the Eel River and the great land that surrounds it. Howlin Rain came together with the intention of making a good, old-fashioned, free-wheeling rock album with a bared soul and a body that hangs joy, hysteria and darkness on the same rambling bones. They play unfiltered music in all its grit and all its glory, music to beat the steering wheel of your van to or sing along with while drinking whiskey in the bathtub with your dog on a Saturday night.

This LP - originally broadcast on the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show - is taken from Iggy's concert at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland Ohio on 21st March 1977 (the night before two of the concerts at the same venue were used on TV Eye Live). It boasts much better sound quality than the RCA live album, since it was
recorded using the Rolling Stones' mobile studio. The material here is drawn almost exclusively from the Stooges' back catalogue, with only "Sister Midnight", "Funtime" and "Turn Blue" coming from the two Bowie-produced albums.

Roo has described his new album Quiet Man as having a general theme of encouragement'. From the more introspective and personal 'A Year In A Garden' and aforementioned 'A Message to Myself' which are about personal growth to 'Ophelia', a song as staggeringly beautiful as its name with a heart-warming message of encouragement to a loved one ( Take heart my love as when I see you I see hope'), and 'My Sweet Refuge' which wraps a loved one in a blanket of appreciation and love. At the more robust spectrum of the album with its rousing horn section is 'Warrior' which is lyrically a spirited show of confidence from one friend to another, whilst on the gentler end of the record comes the tender romanticism of 'Quiet Man', picked as the album's title track as the song emerged from what Roo describes as a place of stillness, peace and contentment'. Words that summarise the album as a whole. Quiet Man was written by Roo Panes and recorded in Deep Litter Studios at Start Point, Devon and produced by Chris Bond, mixed by Boe Weaver and mastered by Tim Debney at Fluid Mastering. It is released on CD, vinyl and digitally on 15 June via CRC Records.
Panes's three EPs and two previous albums have been streamed 160M+ times, and his videos have received 13M+ additional streams. He's received radio support from BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, and BBC 6 Music. Panes will be playing his first US dates later this month. New album from Anthony Ferraro aka Astronauts, etc, who for most of his music career, served as Toro y Moi's keyboardist, with this album 'Living In Symbol' being his debut solo record.

Sonically, the album weaves its influences into an alien drapery. 'The Border' introduces Latin psychedelia to a groove à la David Axelrod, setting the stage for a vocal performance that manages to be equal parts Lee Hazlewood and HAL 9000. On 'The Room', a Borgesian story gets dressed up in an eerily graceful string arrangement reminiscent of Les Baxter. And 'Who I Talk To' nods to George Harrison in a soft rocking arrangement that supports Ferraro's ghostly croon.

Ferraro's Friendship With Chaz Bear, Who Co-produced The Album, Began Modestly Enough: Bear Walked Into The Coffee Shop Where Ferraro Worked While Attending Uc Berkeley. The Two Became Friends, And When Ferraro Graduated The Following Summer, He Signed On As Touring Keyboardist For Toro Y Moi. Musical Bonds Were Forged Over The Next Few Years, And The Pair Began Collaborating On What Would Become Living In Symbol.

The record was almost complete when the band was invited to join Foxygen's U.S tour, compelling the girls to finish the album on the road. Armed with a microphone and an interface, Dillon and Cohen captured the final touches on a boat in England, the coast of Portugal, in the mountains of Southern Italy, cafes of Mexico, and finally in Venice Beach, Los Angeles.

Pink Is The Colour is an expansive and exciting body of work, showcasing Cohen's unusually refreshing twists on pop arrangements. Melbourne/Geelong quartet School Damage began as a bedroom recording project for Carolyn Hawkins (Chook Race, Parsnip) and Jake Robertson (Ausmuteants, Frowning Clouds etc). They released a cassette for Moontown Records in 2013, then were joined by Jeff Raty on drums and Dani 'Damage' Hakim on bass.
Taking cues from pop outfits such as The Vaselines, The Particles and Young Marble Giants, School Damage's sound is defined by wobbly keyboards, weaving bass lines, and lyrical content focused on the vagaries of modern life.
Following on from last year's excellent debut album through Chapter, School Damage return with a new EP for Upset The Rhythm titled 'Sings... Four Songs About One Cat'. As titles go this one hits it on the head, School Damage tell the tale of a very independently-minded feline that they share their life with called Lumpy (also known as Scump). As Jake from the band explains, 'Lumpy is incredibly naughty, she's not very cuddly and she definitely plays by her own rules.  The songs here are a mix about us having anxiety as pet owners - whether she'll run away, or if we're suffocating her by our constant need of attention... and also about how much she enriches our lives.'
For a cat who spends much of her time scratching up record spines, it seems fitting that Lumpy will now grace the cover and sentiment of her very own 7'. Maybe she's just been making room all this time for as many copies as possible of her hit record.
