You may never have heard of him, but unless you're a complete stranger to the 20th century, you will almost certainly have heard at least some of his music. André Brasseur composed countless tunes that received plenty of airplay and were used as radio and TV intro tunes all over Europe in the late Sixties and in the Seventies. His biggest hit, 'Early Bird Satellite' was an international million seller..

This compilation focuses on a lesser known aspect of Brasseur's musical output. Because in between his quest for the perfect intro tune, playing innumerable live shows and running several successful restaurants and discothèques, Brasseur recorded a great deal of experimental, funky jams in the Seventies. We made it our mission to compile the most exciting and timeless of these lost cuts and ended up with 13 enchanting cult classics and hidden gems, ready to devour.

Recorded over two very special, long sold out nights at London's beautiful St Pancras Old Church in May 2015, this record perfectly captures the incredible atmosphere and acoustics as Kevin played through songs from his eight studio album back catalogue. The vinyl includes a download card to pick up 17 bonus tracks, allowing you to hear even more from these two stunning nights, as well as some of the funny and insightful stories behind the songs. HYMNS" ist eine Art Wiedergeburt für Bloc Party. Nach 16 erfolgreichen Jahren als Band, unzähligen Welttourneen, Auszeichnungen und vier Studioalben, kehren Kele Okereke und Russell Lissack zu den Ursprüngen zurück. Klanglich zeigt "HYMNS" auf, wie eine Band über die Jahre wächst und sich verändert: die elektronischen Klänge, die sich schon auf den letzten beiden Alben in den Klangkosmos der Band einschlichen, wurden hier noch verstärkt - aber fast komplett mit Instrumenten umgesetzt. Keles Affinität zum Pop und großen Melodien kommt hier ganz deutlich zur Geltung, vor allem in den beiden Singles "The Love Within" und "Virtue". Despite the project name Post Industrial Boys is basically one man, George Dzodzuashvili aka Gogi. He's a musician from Tbilisi and is part of the Goslab artist collective together with TBA /Natalie Beridze and many more. So far Post Industrial Boys previously released two albums on Thomas Brinkmann's Max Ernst label. But with Unintended, Post Industrial Boys return with their first album in 10 years. And, we are delighted to say, for the first time on Karaoke Kalk. Unintended is an intimate and reflective collection of songs produced in a unique style - part pop, part electronica.

The album starts with the song "Strange" and there is without question a strangeness to the Post Industrial Boys sound throughout the album. But it's a strangeness that soon becomes as familiar as an old friend with repeated listens. A title like "It's me" makes it clear that the album is a very personal statement by Gogi. In his own words: "although there is a big time difference between some of them, for me they are one whole, all reflecting important changes in my life." Indeed, most of the songs on the album were inspired by lyrics written by Gogi's wife, which reflect on the period of time in their lives when all these songs were written - from 2007 to 2013. So one could say the album is kind of a family diary.

The only song with Georgian lyrics is "Naked". The words are by the 19th century Georgian poet Vaja-Pshavela. This song is a collaboration with the actress and singer Mzia Arabuli, who comes from the mountain region and sings in the style of Georgian folk songs. In short, the lyrics say that we are born naked, don't really posses anything in life and die naked.

"Passenger" is a tale of transit and travel. It's intense use of repetitive melodies and vocoders conjure images of the monotony of everyday commuting. Other songs like "Through", "Sometimes" and "Raindrops" make clever use of an ambient backdrop that creates a trance like mood while abstract melodies, beats and lyrics subtly criss-cross the audio field. While "Directions" is structured in the manner of a fairy tales: kind of like a choose your own adventure story in song format. Sinister melodies envelope the song creating a mysterious atmosphere.

The album closes with its title track, a sweet little ballad comprising gently strummed acoustic guitar and lilting piano melodies. The lyrics are as open and heartfelt as throughout the rest of the album."I was in love but I never noticed it" calls the refrain - a touching sentiment on which to close a truly remarkable record.

Unintended is a perfect album for anyone into emotionally charged, inspiring left-field electronic pop. The 10 songs contained and the production used within them achieve the impressive feet of fusing the accessibility of pop melodies, lyrics and structures with an obscure and challenging sound design. Besides their precisely crafted production the songs on Unintended are characterized by the quaintly monotone delivery of George Dzodzuashvili's vocal performance - all the more expressive for the fact that many words are half spoken rather than sung. The lyrics are pensive with a marvelous daydreamy quality while at the same time still being rooted in everyday experience. It doesn't take long for the Post Industrial Boys sound to seep into your soul, and when it does you will cherish the songs on Unintended forever.

Revered Chicago-based instrumental group Tortoise, comprised of Dan Bitney, John Herndon, Doug McCombs, John McEntire and Jeff Parker, have spent 25 years making music that defies description. While the quintet have nodded to dub, rock, jazz, electronica and minimalism throughout their acclaimed and influential six-album discography, the resulting sounds have always been distinctly their own.

It's a fact that remains true on the hotly anticipated forthcoming new album 'The Catastrophist', due out 22nd January via Thrill Jockey and Tortoise's first studio album in nearly seven years. They have conjured sounds that aren't being purveyed anywhere else in music today.

Recorded at McEntire's famed Soma Studios, it's an album where moody, synth-swept jams like the opening title track cosy up next to hypnotic, bass-and-beat missives like 'Shake Hands With Danger' and a fantastic cover of David Essex's 1973 hit song 'Rock On' sung by U.S. Maple's Todd Rittmann. Throughout, the songs on The Catastrophist transcend expectations as often as they delight the listen's eardrums.

Rock On isn't the only vocal moment on the album. Yo La Tengo's Georgia Hubley distinctive tones are on the bittersweet classic soul/R&B vibe ballad 'Yonder Blue'. This also marks the first time a Tortoise album will feature a guest vocalist singing original lyrics.

'Gesceap', the first track which you can hear from The Catastrophist, is a stunning seven-minute long, minimalist rhythmic piece, morphing from two gently intersecting synth lines into a pounding, frenzied full-band finish.

Stephen O'Malley (cult-guitarist of SUNN O))), KTL) teams up with one of the leading UK drummers of the avantgarde scene, Steve Noble to build hypnotic soundsculptures and drones!

London-based psych-folk outfit The Hanging Stars release their much anticipated debut album Over the Silvery Lake in March 2016 via The Great Pop Supplement/Crimson Crow. Blending folk pastoralism with swampy 60s Americana, they sound like the missing link between the California desert sun and the grey skies of London Town. The album was recorded between LA, Nashville and Walthamstow, with each of these vastly different places leaving an indelible mark on the songs.

Fronted by London-based songwriter, singer and guitarist Richard Olson (The See See, Eighteenth Day of May), The Hanging Stars are essentially a loose collective of people who weave together a blissed-out psychedelic tapestry.

During 2015, the band released two critically acclaimed singles via The Great Pop Supplement (both of which also appear on the album). 'Golden Vanity' was premiered by The Line of Best Fit who said; 'you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd just unearthed a rare deep cut from the late 60s/early 70s boom of psychedelia infused Americana' and 'The House on The Hill' was described by The Guardian as; "a hazy, desert-dream of a song, nicely sharpened with steely-eyed guitars, Mersey-laced harmonies and just a whiff of the Gun Club'. They picked up a good amount of support at 6 Music and 'The House on the Hill' scored a much-coveted 10/10 by John Robb on Steve Lamacq's Roundtable. The Hanging Stars played a sold-out three-night residency at London's Betsey Trotwood, recently shared the stage with The Clientele at Islington Assembly Hall and have toured extensively throughout Europe.

There are a number of allusions to nature and the weather on the album, borne in part out of the contrasting surroundings in which it was produced. The band's fascination with Americana led them to record some of the material Stateside, laying down some of the parts at Battle Tapes Studios in Nashville (Lambchop, Paperhead), as well as at Vision Quest Studios in Los Angeles with Rob Campanella. His work with The Quarter After, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Beachwood Sparks and The Tyde was a perfect match to capture their sound and they even had San Franciscan legend Christof Certik step in on lead guitar for a couple of tracks.

Following the LA recordings, a trip to the Californian desert provided the core notion of what they wanted to produce - a shard of light that they clung on to whilst recording the rest of the album in the significantly more rain soaked atmosphere of Walthamstow, London, under the watchful eye of Brian O'Shaughnessy at Bark Studios (The Clientele, Comet Gain, My Bloody Valentine). As the band explain: 'Ultimately we hope you can hear both the sand and the rain in this record.'

Jacktone Records is excited to announce our latest release, a limited edition 7" from Tokyo-based, Dechirico. Dechirico is a new project from Adam Douglas, also known as Kemek. The 7" is available now from our Bandcamp.

The guiding rhythm for the Dechirico project is Klaus Dinger's Neu! beat, an eighth note motorik pulse that is sublimely perfect in its driving precision. Dechirico is an attempt to update that motorik sound using modern production methods while still maintaining the spirit of the original recordings.

Dechirico's release with us features two tracks, Kumamoto and Kumaso. Kumamoto is melody-driven, catchy, and would not be out of place on a mixtape with Stereolab and Mouse on Mars. The B-side, Kumaso, reminds us of an electronic post rock adaptation of BOC's Dayvan Cowboy that puts you in a trance with its driving beat before sending you into space.

Plans is the fifth studio album by Indie Rock band Death
Cab for Cutie, originally released August 30, 2005.


The album spawned three singles: 'Soul Meets Body', 'Crooked Teeth', and 'I Will Follow You into the Dark', with all three songs charting. 'I Will Follow You Into The Dark' became Death Cab for Cutie's best-selling single to-date, and gained the band a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals the following year.

Plans peaked at number four on the Billboard 200, and received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album at the 48th Grammy Awards in 2006.

Narrow Stairs is the sixth studio album by indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, originally released in 2008. Four singles were released for the album: 'I Will Possess Your Heart', 'Cath...', 'No Sunlight', and 'Grapevine Fires'.

Narrow Stairs reached number one on the Billboard 200, making it Death Cab for Cutie's highest charting album to-date. The album was nominated for the 'Best Alternative Music Album' award at the 51st Grammy Awards. In addition, 'I Will Possess Your Heart' was nominated for 'Best Rock Song', and named iTunes UK song of the year 2008.

In 2011 guitarist and producer Walla stated, 'the master plan for Narrow Stairs was to be as invisible and hands-off as a producer as I possibly could. I was really interested in seeing what would happen. When we started that record, we had been on tour for the better part of two years. All we could remember was being on stage and playing. So the whole idea was: what happens if we're just on stage and we play, except we're in the studio and we're recording' He added: 'Narrow Stairs was very much a commitment to just crashing through the songs as we recorded them, like four people in a room.'

The cover art was created by designer EE Storey, the art director forTegan and Sara.

Codes And Keys is the seventh studio album by Death Cab for Cutie, originally released in 2011. A much less guitar- centric album than the band ever made before, the band surprised the world with their compelling venture to new horizons.

As lead vocalist and guitarist Ben Gibbard stated: 'It's not a guitar-based record. We've been into vintage keyboards and playing with that palette.' Guitarist and producer Chris Walla stated: 'Guitar is great; it's a really immediate, impulsive sort of instrument. But I think if we had strapped on guitars and gone into the studio with the intent of making a sort of live-ish sounding record, we definitely would've retreaded some of the territory that we were in for Narrow Stairs [MOVLP1376].'

In 2011, the album received a Nomination in the 54th
Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Music Album.

With a quiet intensity over the last 12 years, Strategy has proven himself to be an incredibly resourceful and rewarding musician in both group settings and as a solo artist. In the latter guise, this Portland producer/multi-instrumentalist (aka Paul Dickow) has released a prolific amount of excellent work for quality indie labels such as Kranky, Idle Hands, 100% Silk, Endless Flight, and Entr'acte, putting a cerebral yet sensual spin on dub, ambient, post rock, and house music. For his Further Records debut, Noise Tape Self, Strategy delves ever deeper into his more ambient inclinations and experiments with tape loops. Most of the six tracks bear titles more suited for a library record, but Noise Tape Self lacks library music's faceless functionality; rather, it's an immersive soundtrack to stimulating one's imagination or losing one's bearings. Dickow says he became obsessed with making tape music in 2008, after tiring of using the computer as his main instrument. Fellow Portland producer/ingenious gear-tinkerer David Chandler (Solenoid) taught Dickow 'how to make a tape loop that could be put inside a cassette tape. I got really into this, and got a 4 track, knowing this would allow me to have four synchronized loops per tape. I would then run each channel through a series of effects and 'perform' live mixes using the loops. I alternated between using source material of my own devising and using whatever source material happened to be on the cassettes I was hacking.

'Hardest working band in the UK' the Stone Foundation are releasing "Beverley" and "Pushing Your Love are available"  7 Vinyl for the first time on Gloria Jones' newly formed Light Of Love Wax Co. label. Profits are to be donated to the building of a school for music and film in Sierra Leone. Lifted off their latest album, both Beverley and Pushing Your Love feature Northern Soul star cameos by Nolan Porter and The Four Perfects on backing vocals.

Recorded in London with Rory Atwell, Taffy Come Home' is one of their finest moments to date and comes backed with 'It's Not Very Easy' which is only available as a bonus track on special editions of the album.

TELEGRAM line up of Matt Saunders (vocals/ guitar), Oli Paget-Moon (bass), Jordan Cook (drums) and new guitarist Pip Stakem have announced a UK headline tour. The band kick off the twenty date run with a show on the 11th of February at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham and then finish up in London at the Moth Club in Hackney on Thursday the 3rd of March.

Living in both London and Berlin, VENN encompass an impressive
mix of musical influences on their debut EP - from the more industrial-
leaning sounds of early 70s West Germany, up to the bourgeoning
post-punk influenced scene of early-millennial Atlanta. The
experimental essence of both eras is captured in Venn's
unconstrained recording process, with the inclusion of live takes,
sampling and assertive rhythmic changes throughout.
A snapshot in time, the EP was performed in the studio and then
chopped, dubbed and reassembled by the band, with lost sounds -
now unremembered to VENN - finding their way back into these
current compositions. These sporadic and improvised parts, such as
the inclusion of vinyl being dragged backwards on a turntable, all
contribute to the alluring bricolage that is RUNE001.

Mystery Plane formed in 1980 from the ashes of 70's new wave band 3D5 who's line-up also featured future Cure member Porl Thompson. This record was originally a demo cassette made in 1981 that was hawked around record labels with a view for release. Later Color Tapes released a 100 copies edition. To support their demo at the time the band played such gigs at the Marquee, Rock Garden and The Bridgehouse supporting bands such as Fad Gadget, Modern English and Henry Padovani (Ex-Police) in London.

This sublime minimal basement krauty synth LP was inspired by bands such as Neu, Amon Duul ll, and "Vienna" period Ultravox. The album features guitar work of Gerald O' Connell who was a big fan of Ash Ra Tempel's guitarist Manuel Gottsching. A year later he went on to form Lives Of Angels who made the classic cold wave album "Elevator To Eden" which was originally released on Color Tapes in 1983.

Mystery Plane have been featured on the sold out Cold Waves Of Color compilation series. The album has been remastered by Denis Blackham and comes complete with a poster insert.

King Charles is set to release his second album 'Gamble For A Rose'
through Buffalo Gang via Kobalt Label Services.
The LP is a limited edition coloured vinyl version.

Following his biggest tour to date, a 28 nights in 28 days extravaganza that ended with a
triumphant headline show at the London Forum, Charles set out to make "the album I should
have made five years ago." Charles and old friend Marcus Mumford (who produced the
album) began demoing songs and decamped to a farm near Exeter with mattresses pushed up
against the walls to make vocal booths and old friends to jam with including Charlie Fink and
Tom Hobden (Noah and the Whale) and Winston Marshall (Mumford & Sons). Charles has
recently supported Mumford & Sons at their O2 London gig.

King Charles is a different person to the one who released extraordinary debut album
'Loveblood' in 2012. Not only has his appearance changed, his long dreads cut perhaps as a
symbol of the move away from his old persona to a new more mature Charles, but his music
and outlook are underpinned by a need to return to find the root of his musical passion, the
reason he started playing, and that all started with friends.

The first song to be unveiled from 'Gamble For A Rose' is the album opener 'Loose Change For
A Boatman', a passionate love song ("You say your love for me has waned from the storm, Your
passions have fallen from the days of old, If ever you loved me, If ever at all, Our souls are
tied."), which builds and builds before exploding into riotous, arena-leveling colour.

Charles' recording story began in 2010 when a few months after a near-fatal skiing accident he
won Grand Prize at the International Songwriting Competition for a piece called 'Love Lust'.
Soon after he signed to Universal in America and relocated to LA where he made his debut
album 'Love Blood' with Matthew Wilder (No Doubt, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson).

These recordings pull back a curtain to reveal the mysterious world of Syntoma and early-80s underground Mexico.
Founded by Alex Eisenring in 1980, making use of synths and drum machines and driven by a freedom-seeking DIY ethos but informed by a "rock-jazz-prog-experimental" background. These 70s-born influences throw crazed funhouse mirror reflections onto later Kraftwerk, UK synth-pop, post-punk and pure pop forms. The first five tracks are instrumental, evidencing some intelligent melodic and harmonic conceptions, the same can be said for the remaining female/male vocal tracks, but the sense of otherness is boosted as the vocal stylings combine a definite UK 80s feel with an unplaceable geo-temporal
essence, spanning decades and continents. Primarily a trio during the period of these recordings, 1981-84, Syntoma transcends the era and stands apart from their peers with a surprising melodic sense, harmonic adventurousness, interesting arrangements and, above all, an atmosphere of freshness and enthusiasm. Available on CD and 12"
vinyl with liner notes and lyrics.

Writing for Xtreme Now began while the Larson sisters were living on a black metal utopian commune on Vrmsi, a remote island off the coast of Estonia during the summer of 2012. There, Taraka had a near death experience inside an ancient Viking ruin which sparked a recurring sense of time-schizophrenia, or the physical sensation of existing in multiple time periods simultaneously. In this case, she experienced a joint-existence in both the medieval ages and the year 2067. In one of her prophetic visions she describes, In the year 2067, I witnessed an aesthetic landscape where art museums are sponsored by energy drink beverages and beauty is determined by speed. I saw a vision of ancient tapestries stretched across half-pipes and people base-jumping off planes with the Mona Lisa smiling up from their parachutes. I saw art merge with extreme sports to form a new aesthetic language of 'Speed Art.' I realized that time travel was possible via the gateway of extreme sports, and I wanted to make music that would provide the score.'

Perceiving a great void in the world of extreme sports for music that could match the metaphysical intensity of these death-defying feats, Prince Rama set forth to make Xtreme Now, the first real foray by any musician to create a new extreme sports genre.' For inspiration, the sisters looked to their own flirtations with death and time-dilation, along with countless hours of obsessively watching extreme sports videos and consuming dangerous quantities of Monster Energy drink.
