Imagine DyE aka Juan de Guillebon as an advanced receptor transmitter of melodies and sounds for the young generation. When music - from the seventies to 2015, from Bruce Springsteen to Daphni - travels through him it's processed by filters, hardware living machines and magical organs, to become new music. Music that seems to describe a trance towards the stars and the future, where the future is to awake vocations and dreams - straight from his home-studio « à la Jamaicaine » as he likes to call it.

DyE's music belongs to epic quests. You're Link, the little knight in Zelda, smashing archetypal sounds in Detroit, Robocop listening to Ah-Ah in the jungle, Albator meeting dolphins in a subaquatic Paris.

In the first level, his debut album TAKI183, you were experiencing the transition from childhood to adulthood. With COCKTAIL CITRON, you'll find multiple love - may it be in a pill or with a French girl as the title track sums it perfectly well.

Like a resonance of his work as a remixer or as a bass player with Joakim, Bot'Ox, Aladdin, Rachid Taha and many more, this record is also about free encounters. May DyE be a solo project, may Juan know how to sing (Downlovers, Steel Life), he's making a point in inviting people from other dimensions to expand the spectrum of words and sound (legendary Egyptian Lover on She's Bad, Angie David on Cocktail Citron, Guillaume Teyssier - as a faithful author from DyE's debut - on Downlovers and Steel Life etc.).

It's also DyE's most danceable record so far, probably a consequence of his young DJ career, playing along the Tigersushi crew or opening for the likes of Erol Alkan or Four Tet.

MannGold de Cobre ontstond in 2011 toen de Handelsbeurs zijn schouders onder het idee zette om de band MannGold te helpen uitbreiden met 8 blazers. Samen met Peter Vermeersch werd er geschreven en gearrangeerd, hetgeen uitmondde in een volstrekt nieuw en origineel geluid, een kosmische punk big band met 2 drums, 2 gitaren en 8 blazers, die met een immense energie zweeft kolkt raast en dendert tussen jazz, kraut, herrie, lieflijke scapes, film noire, Sun Ra en trance.


De band speelde een reeks concerten (Vooruit, Beurs, Boomtown, Gent Jazz,...) die gesmaakt werden door zowel het jazz publiek en pers als door het jonge lawaaiminnende publiek; een geslaagde cross-over. Hierdoor aangemoedigd besloot MannGold DC op te nemen, en dit in de Vantage Point Studio van dEUS. Met 13 in 1 ruimte, tegelijk, zonder overdubs. Het resultaat is dus deze plaat.

MannGold, de moedergroep - Rodrigo Fuentealba (gitaar), Philipp Weies (gitaar), Karel de Backer (drums), Matthias Standaert (drums) en Maarten Standaert (bas) -, ontstond in 2008 en hield en houdt zich ledig met energieke stukken instrumentale muziek, met één been Kraut, psychedelia en tribale ritmiek en een ander been in noise, impro, repetitiviteit en minimalisme. En punkrock, MC5 en Motorhead. Door de energieke intense concerten kreeg MannGold snel een following, die gestaag groeit en blijft groeien.

TOO TANGLED are an indie-wave-rock duo hailing from Ghent, Belgium. Roeland Vandemoortele (Vox, Guitar, Drumbeats) and Eva Buytaert (Vox, Violin, Keys) formed Too Tangled 5 years ago, and have since released their debut album 'The Magic Got Killed' (2010, a.o. nr 1 in OOR magazine underground top 5) and their 2nd album 'Where the echoes die' (2012, a.o. Best of spring 2013 De Standaard) both to much 'Hail&Praises' of the European press.

Their singles have been picked up by many cool College-radio's, aswell as national stations. A.o. Their music is described as sexy, catchy and subtile agressive. Parallels get drawn with bands such as The Velvet Underground, Black Rebel Motor Cycle Club, The Raveonettes, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Jezus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine; and they get praised as well for their 'own fresh sound'.

Roeland and Eva (TT) have been touring through Europe most of the past 14 months with their album 'Where the echoes die'. After spending the last 48.000 km in their Van, 83 shows and watching the concrete fly by underneath them, playing full venues and great shows, but also, sometimes giving the best of themselves for 10 people, beating it up every time, and crashing in hotel rooms for a couple of hours of sleep before driving off to the next gig...
... Restless going after that one moment where time is nonexistent... They had the urge to make this new album.

Op zijn derde album Ballroom Blitz keert Zool. (aka Gerry Vergult) terug naar zijn eerste muzikale liefde, de gitaar. In de acht stukken op dit album vormt die dan ook de leidraad voor deze nieuwe excursie door het immer uitdeiende universum van Zool.

En deze keer kan er in dat universum ook schaamteloos gedanst worden. De psychofunk van Impossible Boogie of de woestijndub van Mutant Chaabi zullen niet misstaan op de betere dansvloer. Maar ook de andere titels ontlenen hun bestaansrecht aan hun dansbaarheid, ook al moet je dat begrip dan wel heel breed interpreteren.

De warme melancholie (in stukken als Rumba Galbani of Frantic Waltz) die ook Zool.'s twee vorige albums kenmerkte is immers ook hier ruimschoots aanwezig, terwijl aan de andere kant van het spectrum een track als Sonic Tango duidelijk verwant is aan Vergult's (als Fred Angst) hardere werk bij Aroma Di Amore.

Ballroom Blitz komt uit op vinyl op Vynilla Records. De digitale release (I-Tunes, Spotify, Deezer, Amazon, Google, enz..) is in handen van Kinky Star Records. Het album wordt gereleased op Record Store Day (19 april 2014) en die dag zijn er 200 gelimiteerde en genummerde exemplaren te koop met nog vier exclusieve, onuitgegeven bonustracks er bovenop! Dieter Meier, the voice of Yello, is releasing his first solo album!

Unavailable since the film's release in 1982, Susan Justin's music for FORBIDDEN WORLD - produced by the legendary Roger Corman - mixes the electronic influences of the time with splashes of new wave, creating a score that fuses the eerie tonalities and avant-garde sensibility of ALIEN with the straight-up funk of ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13. Birthed from this is a cult classic score that deserves to be held up alongside the works of Richard Band and Alan Howarth.

What immediately stands out from the score is the amazing main theme, a melodic groove firmly embedded in the 80s synth movement, complete with creepy vocal effects overlaying its driving keyboard line. Originally a parody that Corman turned into a straight horror, the score is used typically to create tension with isolated piano and harsh electronic tones, acting as a stereotypical precursor to the horror moments. Amidst all this is also the 'Blaster Beam', a unique instrument famous for its use in Jerry Goldsmith's STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE. The punk icon's first ever solo release, & the first offering is titled, Meet The Foetus/ Oh The Joy and it s the ambitious, centrepiece of the forthcoming album. It s a song about creating life and was responsible for kicking the whole album process off again for Brody. And if you listen carefully you can hear, good friend Shirley Manson (Garbage) and Emily Kokal (Warpaint) lending a hand on backing vocals.
Brody Dalle spent a year writing, playing, recording and co-producing her first solo album, a riotous blast of punk rock with a pop sheen that storms through ideas about the modern age, triumphing against the odds and even spirituality. She co-produced everything with Alain Johannes (Arctic Monkeys, Them Crooked Vultures, Mark Lanegan) at his studio, and at her and husband Josh Homme's studio Pink Duck, both in California. I've always had a hand in crafting how it's going to sound and hearing it and trying to make that happen. But it's the first time I've put my name on something for production , she says of the release. Amazingly, she wrote all the songs and played almost all the instruments you can hear on the album save for a few incredible guests.

Die Nachricht, dass Brody Dalle an einem neuen Projekt arbeitet, löste im vergangenen Jahr große Aufregung aus. Mehr noch, als bekannt wurde, dass es konkrete Pläne für ein ganzes Album gibt. Ihr im letzten Jahr angekündigtes London-Konzert war in weniger als einer Stunde ausverkauft. Und auch für ihr Konzert in Berlin gab es Wochen vorher keine Karten mehr.
Jetzt gibt es einen ersten musikalischen Vorgeschmack für die Fans der Punk Ikone.

'Meet The Foetus/ Oh The Joy' heißt das erste ambitionierte und zentrale Stück des kommenden Albums. gewisser Tensnake, der derzeit die Cover fast aller Szenemagazine
ziert, oder eine logische Weiterentwicklung des Deep House Hypes der
letzten Jahre ist:
Nu Disco - welches ja eigentlich schon am Ende der 2000er Jahre
einen ordentlichen Hype hatte - ist wieder voll da, mit einem
qualitativen Output, der alles davor dagewesene öde und grau
erscheinen lässt.
Was ist überhaupt Nu-Disco Tanzmusik, die meist knapp unter
120bpm liegt, mit deutlichen Anleihen des Discosounds der 70er und
80er, jedoch mit einem deutlich fetteren und zeitgemäßeren Sound.
Oder einfach nur Deep House mit etwas mehr Song-Orientierung
Wie dem auch sei. Derzeit steht schon fest, dass die diesjährige Ibiza
Saison von diesem Sound dominiert wird.

Utilising a minimalist set up of drum machine, keyboard and synth mixed with a life time obsession of the electronic pop music of yesteryear allow Laura Hill's ideas to come alive. These are not cute brainless love songs however. Although love is an inspiration in a lot of the songs, the lyrics and themes mostly deal with the darker painful side of that irrational emotion. Depth comes in the way Hill can effortlessly blend the banal drudgery of everyday living with the abstract and surreal. Meditations on the sadness of a fleeting human existence, strange attractions to machines and the technical world, to the ever present escapist allure of outer space and the dream world. All this set to some of the finest and (I dare say) catchy pop music this side of the 21st century. Scraps is a distinctly unique artist borne directly out of her environment. Scraps has not gained her small but incredibly loyal and growing cult following through media saturation, blog hype, or a money backed promotional whirlwind. It has been acquired through the independent and uncompromising nature of her spirit, the authentic DIY quality of the music, and her honest approach to songwriting and performing. Strong releases on hometown Brisbane record labels Bedroom Suck and Disembraining Machine have complimented an already dense discography of hand made, self released material. Scraps has performed relentlessly all over Australia and abroad to a wide variety of people alongside an even wider variety of bands and artists. From drunken suburban house parties, inner city generator squat shows, art galleries, cafes and bookstores, museums, drug fuelled nightclubs, rural raves, reputable and disreputable pubs, to some of the biggest venues in town as international support. The fact that Scraps can effortlessly transcend these often starkly contrasting spaces is a testament to the quality of her abilities as a songwriter and performer. Ellis Island Sound comprises the duo of Pete Astor (The Loft, Weather Prophets, etc) and David Sheppard (State River Widening, Snow Palms, etc). Described as 'Afro-Krautrock', 'Intro, Airborne, Travelling' is the first single from the duo. A toe-tapping motorik Kraut-pop juggernaut by all accounts. The single features vocals from Radiohead collaborator John Matthias, coming on like an opiated James Brown channelling Damo Suzuki. The EP also features remixes from rising star Fryars and long time Andrew Weatherall collaborator Scott Fraser to complete the package. For fans of Can, Fela Kuti, Talking Heads, Fryars and Scott Fraser.

Fenster's second record The Pink Caves is a dark fairy tale brimming with layers of tremolo guitars, tactile percussion, soft analog synths and moon-dusted vocal melodies. The tracks take you on a slow-motion free fall through the rabbit hole into an ethereal world of spectral soundscapes, lush pop opulence and minimalism drawing inspiration from science fiction, french 70s film scores and Lynchian mysticism.
Work began on The Pink Caves in early 2013. A home studio was set up in a cabin in East Germany and the whole house was wired so every room contained different elements, set up in such a way that they were able to record live altogether. As a result The Pink Caves radiates with an intuitive and spontaneous approach to noise experimentation. The band reputedly used the house they recorded in as an instrument in itself, using slamming doors, clanging the metal oven, the ticking of clocks, the animals in the yard, the water in the well, candlesticks, coat hangers and matches...whatever happened to be within reach. All of this was captured by producer Tadklimp, whose idiosyncratic and inimitable production skills unravel the complexities and textures of the album.

Origamibiro is a collaborative project consisting of three core members: musician, soundtrack composer and producer Tom Hill, visual artist and filmmaker The Joy Of Box, and multi-instrumentalist Andy Tytherleigh. For fans of intelligent multi-instrumental ambient electronica with an organic feel - Julia Kent, Mum, Fred Frith's compositions for dance, Max Richter's ""Blue Notebooks"" and the works of CM von Hauswolff can be considered as references.

After a crazy year of touring, RMFTM are ready to launch their new album 'Strange Wave Galore' through 'Fuzz Club Records' in 2014. Jimi Tenor and Nicole Willis´ sublime Herakles label returns with 'Haunted by Hallucinations' , the new Bandproject from Petri Tokkannenm mastermind of the fabolous finish 'Soul Investigators' group. Guitarist Petri Toikkanen, who graces the liner notes of nearly all the Soul Investigators ("Home Cooking", 'Keep Reachin' Up") releases, as one of the formidable composers of the musical group, makes the debut on this self titled new band´s album. The group was founded by Toikkanen and drummer Laura Könönen as they composed their songs through hypnotic jam sessions, with bass player, Jussi Oskari. Jussi Oskari is best known for his contribution to the project, Tuvalu, a progressive rock ensemble. The genre that sets the tone for Haunted by Hallucinations is the psychedelic cousin to that of post metal and post rock/doom. Toikkanen cites Pink Floyd, Venom, Uriah Heep, and Dio as his childhood staples. While direct influences are denied, Haunted By Hallucinations might sit well next to Earth and Goblin. That the phasers and flangers of stoner doom would be replaced with heavy doses of delay on Toikkanen's personal genre of neo - psychedelia. Toikkanen's playing has textures of surf, harking the legend of surf, Dick Dale, together with a prototype of Rock & Roll. Toikkanen's main instrument is a Fender Jazzmaster. Oskari also plays Moog Taurus bass pedal synthesizer. Laura Könönen is also a visual artist, whose main medium is sculpture, has supplied the LP cover artwork with one of her paintings and drawings. The album is produced by Jimi Tenor & Nicole Willis.

Darren met Emma in Sheffield and told her he was suspicious of a band who all wore hats. Then her band all put hats on and went on stage. They started a friendship based on short scale basses. Darren started writing a song and thought the melody in the chorus sounded like something Emma might write and sing. To avoid legal action he asked her to sing on it. During the recording session they aspired to make the record sound as much like Bryan Adams and Sporty Spice as possible. If it doesn't sound like that, then they've failed. That was their only objective. Emma told Darren it was the best guitar playing she had ever heard in her entire life. Ever. Bar none. There's a video too, where they both play cat's cradle beside canals. The video is less like Bryan and Sporty. There are rumours that Darren and Emma are now making an album of duets. he Grafham Water Sailing Club were born in February 2012. Love and the fear of loss is the theme here, and its plaintive entreaty 'Please don't put a shadow on her lung' is coupled with an epic, widescreen, soul-stirring pop tune that leaves no room for doubt. As Dan himself says, "It's about love. Not romantic love or sexual love. The other stuff." Active in the world of visual art and dabbling in music for many years, Dan Willson came late to singing and songwriting at age 30, in a period of reflection between the death of a close friend and the birth of his first child. The resultant material, much of which went on to become the album Good News, was praised for its depth and startling honesty, and won him accolades from the likes of Rolling Stone and Mojo, as well as fans from Jarvis Cocker to Marc Riley. The ensuing years saw him embraced by the now defunct Fife-based musical powerhouse the Fence Collective and his songs picked up by MTV and cult series Skins. A prolific live performer, recent Withered Hand shows have included Pam Berry of seminal 90s US noisepop band Black Tambourine (who also contributes vocals to the new album) amid a rotating cast of musical friends embellishing Dan's exuberant and original songwriting, alongside his fragile and uplifting solo performances. Without doubt the most exciting breakthrough band of 2013, London Grammar's album, If You Wait debuted at Number 2 in the UK charts and is still holding Top 10 five weeks after its release. Not only a hugely impressive result during a notoriously competitive time of year, but particularly so for a band whose name was barely a whisper less than twelve months ago.
And it's not just the UK that has fallen in love with this year's most enchanting album.
