den Anfängen seiner Karriere zurück. - Higher Than Here' erscheint am 30.10.2015 und ist das bis
dato eindringlichste, einfühlsamste und ehrlichste Album von ihm. Die erste Single daraus, - Demons',
handelt von den inneren Dämonen, die jeder Mensch in sich hat, und berührt in gewohnter
James-Manier mit einer unglaublichen Authentizität - und das kommt an: Diverse Radiosender wie
beispielsweise SWR3, SR1 und NDR2 nahmen den Track direkt in ihre Playlisten auf. James Morrison
begeisterte bereits zuvor mit unzähligen Hits, u.a. - Wonderful World', - I Won't Let You Go' und
- Broken Strings' (feat. Nelly Furtado). Letzterer schoss in Deutschland sowohl auf Platz #1 der
Single-Charts als auch auf Platz #1 im Airplay. Seine drei bisherigen Alben - Undiscovered', - Songs
For You, Truths For Me' und - The Awakening' verkauften sich insgesamt über 4,5 Mio. Mal. - Higher
Than Here' erscheint nun als Standard-Version mit 12 Songs sowie als Deluxe-Version mit 3

Der Re-Realease von - Crystal Sky' erscheint am 23.10.2015 als Deluxe Edition mit der Hitsingle "Wild
& Free", die auch der Titelsong zum Kino-Blockbuster "Fack Ju Göhte 2" ist. Außerdem enthält die
Deluxe Edt. eine DVD mit exklusiven Videos der MTV Live Sessions mit Lena, ihren drei Musikvideos

Having emerged out of West London's broken beat movement in the '90's as bandleader of the cult soul/jazz outfit SK Radicals, Sean Khan's music holds a fascinating place in jazz's lineage. On Muriel, jazz greats 'Trane, Jaco, Herbie and Gil', are paid tribute to, as is Goya music, the label Sean attributes to kick-starting his recording career, as well as being a key facilitator of the broken beat movement as a whole. These references reflect Sean's unique musical standpoint: his axis of influence pivots between classic, free and Latin jazz and a specific sense of rhythm and experimentation drawn from his immersion in the broken beat scene. This combination of musical approaches, coupled with Sean's belief in a concept of 'instinct over intellect' (while retaining an appreciation of the philosophy behind the music) lays the foundation for the album's stirring innovation. The masterful compositions on Muriel are teeming with technical prowess and drenched in soul with the help of some world-renowned vocalists including father of British Neo-Soul Omar, Brazilian musical icon Sabrina Malheiros and Heidi Vogel of the Cinematic Orchestra.

The album is dedicated to the driving force behind his musical education, his mother Muriel McGinley. Through its exquisite mixture of classic jazz, soul and funk, the record offers a fresh portrait of Sean's musical influences and the divergent scenes he has been a part of.

Sean Khan's exquisite alto sax throughout the album demonstrates both his technical prowess and keen understanding of jazz's history, whilst continuing to carve out its future. The swing laden, percussive beats of Laurie Lowe and the underlying slung double bass lines of Mike Edmonds, lay the foundational groove for Sean's highly accomplished and expressive sax playing. Album opener 'Things To Say' and 'Sister Soul' each feature the vocal talents of Diana Martinez and Sabrina Malheiros respectively, which flawlessly compliment Khan's luscious arrangements, while 'Dance For Little Emily' showcases Sean's ingenuously darting sax solo's.

In anticipation of Sean Khan's second full length album on Far Out Recordings, Far Out has released two 12' remix EPs, the first of which features remixes from 4Hero and Nicola Conte of album tracks 'Things To Say' and 'Don't Let The Sun Go Down' - with a contribution from the instantly recognizable vocals of the father of Neo-Soul, Omar - the second a showcase for two rising South London producers, Henry Wu and Ben Hauke, who lend a whole new spin to the tracks 'Samba Para Florence' and 'Things To Say'.

On 'Muriel', Khan immerses himself in his jazz roots and, in doing so, has produced his finest album to date, one that uniquely reflects the high-quality Far Out jazz sound.

Es ist schwierig, eine bestimmte Dekade seit den Achtzigern zu nennen, in der Tracey Thorns Stimme

wahrscheinlich, meine interessantesten Zeiten waren die mit ‚Everything But The Girl' oder ‚The
Marine Girls' und dass diese Arbeiten definitiv auf dem Album zu finden sein sollten. Aber die
Geschichte, die hier erzählt werden soll, ist die, die sich mit einem einfachen Wort beschreiben lässt:
Solo. Das Album zeichnet eine facettenreiche und gefeierte Karriere nach. Es hebt lebhaft den
Kontrast zwischen der inneren Welt ihrer akustischen Werke wie des minimalistischen Debüts - A
Distant Shore' von 1982 und der extrovertierteren Seite der elektronischen Musik hervor. In Traceys
Worten - mit augenzwinkerndem Verweis auf ihre Memoiren, die 2013 zum Sunday-Times-Bestseller
wurden - - Was du hier bekommst, ist meine ‚Bedsit'-Seite, die glücklich neben der ‚Disco Queen' weilt.

60 years ago West Africa was bursting with energy as first Ghana, and then in 1958 Guinea, gained their independence. In the case of Guinea her birth was sudden and dramatic as France, the then colonial power, withdrew within one month of the vote for independence, famously taking 'everything including the lightbulbs'.

Guinea had to start from scratch, not least in her approach to the arts which the new state wanted to modernise while still remaining true to tradition. This policy was called authenticité. Music was its focus, Syliphone its record label and Guinean music soon became a shining example for other emerging African nations. It even attracted artists and activists such as Miriam Makeba and her then husband, ex-Black Panther, Stokely Carmichael who, harrassed by the CIA, moved to Guinea in 1968.

Under authenticité, musicians were employed by the state, given instruments and encouraged to create a new but traditionally-rooted music. A whole system of regional and national bands was established, with regular competitions to establish precedence. It's also worth noting that from the Guinean perspective, this 'tradition' included Latin music, the African roots of which were considered so obvious as to be beyond debate.

Very quickly, three bands rose to the top: Orchestre Paillote, later to become Keletigui et ses Tambourinis; Orchestre du Jardin de Guinée, later to become Balla et ses Balladins; and perhaps the strongest of them all, Bembeya Jazz. In each case our selection features their first full-length album recordings, faithfully recreated as originally presented, sequenced and released in 1967.

Nine years later, in 1976, the situation was not so positive. Guinea's economy was struggling and political dissent had arisen. It is against this background that the 4th album in our series, 'Musiques sans paroles' was recorded and released. Entirely instrumental, it features a variety of groups, including Miriam Makeba's sometime backing band, the Quintette Guinéenne, and remains remarkably fresh today with e.g. Tam-tam sax referencing the free jazz sounds of Pharoah Sanders or Albert Ayler, while in Flute parlant, showcasing the traditional flute of the Fula people.

mit auf den Weg gibt. Ein Prisma, das Dinge sichtbar macht, die mit bloßem Auge nicht erkennbar

Moden kommen und gehen. Das Zeitlose aber bleibt. Das gilt vor allem für den Kunstbereich. Etwa für Anne
Haigis, die seit den 1980er-Jahren für einen künstlerisch und qualitativ hohen Standard in der hiesigen
Musikszene steht. Mit ihrem Livealbum "15 Companions" kombiniert die Sängerin einige ihrer Hits wie "Kind
der Sterne" und "Freundin" mit Titeln anderer Musiker. Wie etwa "No Man's Land", ein Song, den Anne
bereits zusammen mit Tony Carey und Eric Burdon mitreißend interpretierte. Mit viel Ausdruck in der Stimme
erkundet sie auf "Out Of The Rain" und "We Danced" die Ecken und Nischen des Gospels und kehrt mit
hemmungsloser Offenheit für "Nacht aus Glas" ihr Innerstes nach außen. Gerade noch gefangen von der
Eindringlichkeit des melancholischen Tom-Waits-Klassikers "Waltzing Mathilda" findet man sich im nächsten
Moment in der rockig pulsierenden Leichtigkeit von "Life Is Wonderful" wieder. Anne Haigis interpretiert Musik
nicht nur - sie fühlt, sie lebt sie und führt sie unwiderstehlich authentisch durch US-Southern-Rock, Blues bis
hin zu Gospel und Folk.

Ólafur Arnalds und Nils Frahm legen mit der Doppel-CD "Collaborative Works" eine Sammlung ihres bisherigen Schaffens vor. Sie enthält neben den drei bisher erschienenen Vinyl-EPs "Loon", "Stare" und "Life Story Love And Glory" sieben Songs aus ihrem "Trance Frendz"-Studiofilm. "Stare" (2012) war die allererste gemeinsame Veröffentlichung von Ólafur Arnalds und Nils Frahm - ein wirkliches Familienprojekt, das 2011 zusammen mit der Cellistin Anne Müller zwischen Reykjavík und Berlin stattfand. "Loon" (2015) ist eine vom Synthesizerklang angetriebene 5-Track EP, die im Herbst 2014 in Nils' Durton-Studio in Berlin aufgenommen wurde und den Ambient-Sound von "Stare" fortführt, jedoch unter der Hinzugabe von perkussiveren Elementen und Dub-Einflüssen. "Life Story Love And Glory" (2015) sind zwei Improvisation an zwei
Klavieren, die im Oktober 2012 ebenfalls bei Frahm in Berlin aufgenommen wurden, "Trance Frendz" (2015) ist die Audioaufnahme ihres intimen, 46-minütigen Studiofilms gleichen Namens.

Adem, eigentlich Adem Ilhan, ist viel mehr als nur ein Solokünstler. Einen Namen machte er sich vor
allem, weil er ein Teil der Postrock Band Fridge ist, der neben ihm noch Kieran Hebden von Four Tet
beiwohnt. Ebenso ist er Teil des Elektronik Duos Silver Columns, zusammen mit Johnny Lynch.
Vermehrt hat er sich in den letzten Jahren auch als Produzent einen Namen gemacht, so zum Beispiel
für die Solo Alben des Radiohead-Drummers Phil Selway.

Things That Grow is a fluid musical project exploring the sonic possibilities of southern African musical bows within improvisatory contexts. On this album, Cara Stacey performs contemporary compositions and improvisations on the umrhubhe and uhadi bows with Shabaka Hutchings (clarinet, tenor saxophone), Seb Rochford (drums), Ruth Goller (bass), Crewdson (concertronica), and Dan Leavers (synths/production). Combining original compositions by Cara and Shabaka, as well as freely conceived improvisations, this recording aims to stretch the boundaries of bow music in an ensemble and create something entirely new.

Cara is a South African multi-instrumentalist, composer and researcher. She is a pianist and plays different southern African musical bows (umrhubhe, uhadi, makhoyane). Cara holds a BMus in musicology from the University of Cape Town, an MMus in musicology from Edinburgh University, and an MMus in musical performance from SOAS (London). Cara is currently completing her doctoral research through the South African College of Music (UCT) and SOAS, specialising in the makhoyane braced-bow of Swaziland. A founding member of Inclement Quartet and Pergola, she has performed in numerous ensembles in South Africa, England, and Scotland. She is based between London, Cape Town, and Mbabane.

Der Gitarrenvirtuose Hotei ist ein Superstar in Japan, dort hat er mehr als 40 Millionen Alben verkauft.
Erstmals international für Furore sorgte Hotei mit seinem Song "Battle Without Honor Or Humanity"
den Quentin Tarantino als Theme-Song für Kill Bill verwendete. Danach hat er u.a. mit David Bowie,
Andy Mackay (Roxy Music), INXS, Blondie, Joni Mitchell, Darren Price (Underworld) und zuletzt mit
den Rolling Stones auf deren 50th Anniversary Tour zusammengearbeitet. Mit "Strangers" legt Hotei
nun sein erstes internationales Album vor. Diverse namhafte Special Guests wurden für die
Gesangsparts an Bord geholt: Iggy Pop, Richard Z. Kruspe (Rammstein/Emigrate), Matt Tuck (Bullet
For My Valentine), Noko (Apollo 440) und Sängerin Shea Seger. Musikalisch ist "Strangers" eine wilde
Reise durch die Genres: Rock, Dance, Punk und Elektro. Für die Writing und Production Credits
zeichneten sich u.a. Youth (Pink Floyd, Verve, Killing Joke), Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno, Paolo Nutini)
und Stephen Lipson (Jeff Beck, Grace Jones, Hans Zimmer) verantwortlich. "Battle Without Honor Or
Humanity" ist auf "Strangers" als furioser Schlußtrack enthalten.

Jo Bisso was born and raised in Yaounde, the political capital Cameroon. He grew up being a fan of American soul music such as Otis Reading and Wilson picket. In 1971 he left Cameroun to pursue his musical career. Beginning an 8 year stint of Paris to New York jet trips the young ambitious man forged his musical career on his own terms, Staring off with the minor hit "Flying To The Land Of Soul" which he signed to Decca and moving on to produce, finance, write and create several albums released under his own name and other artsits such as Sookie and Venise.

In 1975 Jo created his genre blended debut album "Jo Tongo" on the Paris based Disques Esperance label. Sung in English and his native language it was way ahead of its time for the day, blending Jazz, Funk, Soul, afro rhythms and the sounds that were at the time being come to be known as Disco. The album was produced by Jo who plays a wide variety of the instruements and contributes his baritone "Barry White" tinged spoken vocals about life and love.

The album opens up with the title track "Dance To It", A slice of groovy lounge-funk. Part 1 is all about the driving catchy groove which is layered with a downtown funk saxophone lead line. Part 2 brings in Jo's spoken vocals in his native language and English, setting the tone of the album to come. "Disco Madonna" introduces a Latin flavour with Spanish vocals, a rumba groove and darting percussion. "Ramaya" melds a playful, summery, euro melody with Jo's throaty, fun-loving vocals and a nascent use of synthesizers.

"Lets Keep It Together" is a song in two parts. The first half builds the groove over washy guitar, and chords before breaking into a solid soul riff with bass, Rhodes and guitar. Over this Jo layers the catchy, soulful vocals, summer-breeze guitars and jazzy keys. A real treat. Flip over to the Vinyl B side for what is probably the albums most "getting down" moment. The driving funk of "Give It Up". Stabby brass, whirling organ and tight bass which is all wrapped up in a one tight arrangement. Add in doses of Jo's sulty vocal and that is a recipe for a real winner.

"Don't Fight The Feeling" again furthers into real deep funk territory. Jo opening up with a sermon on "love and sex". The album closes with the swinging soul of the pensive Jo and his thoughts on life, "Odwa". What is going down

The Give It Up track was a highlight of the recent Africa Seven debut release "African Airways Volume 1: (Funk Connection 1972-1979). To Follow that up Africa Seven are proud to repress the debut Jo Bisso album in its full glory.

Jo moved back from the US in 1981. From 1981 to 1989 his lived in Cote D'Ivoire. He now lives in Paris and although he sometimes "finds it hard to listen to his albums", he does thinks it great that people love his music and his debut album is getting a re-release all these years later.

60 years ago West Africa was bursting with energy as first Ghana, and then in 1958 Guinea, gained their independence. In the case of Guinea her birth was sudden and dramatic as France, the then colonial power, withdrew within one month of the vote for independence, famously taking 'everything including the lightbulbs'.

Guinea had to start from scratch, not least in her approach to the arts which the new state wanted to modernise while still remaining true to tradition. This policy was called authenticité. Music was its focus, Syliphone its record label and Guinean music soon became a shining example for other emerging African nations. It even attracted artists and activists such as Miriam Makeba and her then husband, ex-Black Panther, Stokely Carmichael who, harrassed by the CIA, moved to Guinea in 1968.

Under authenticité, musicians were employed by the state, given instruments and encouraged to create a new but traditionally-rooted music. A whole system of regional and national bands was established, with regular competitions to establish precedence. It's also worth noting that from the Guinean perspective, this 'tradition' included Latin music, the African roots of which were considered so obvious as to be beyond debate.

Very quickly, three bands rose to the top: Orchestre Paillote, later to become Keletigui et ses Tambourinis; Orchestre du Jardin de Guinée, later to become Balla et ses Balladins; and perhaps the strongest of them all, Bembeya Jazz. In each case our selection features their first full-length album recordings, faithfully recreated as originally presented, sequenced and released in 1967.

Nine years later, in 1976, the situation was not so positive. Guinea's economy was struggling and political dissent had arisen. It is against this background that the 4th album in our series, 'Musiques sans paroles' was recorded and released. Entirely instrumental, it features a variety of groups, including Miriam Makeba's sometime backing band, the Quintette Guinéenne, and remains remarkably fresh today with e.g. Tam-tam sax referencing the free jazz sounds of Pharoah Sanders or Albert Ayler, while in Flute parlant, showcasing the traditional flute of the Fula people.

By 1982 Dillinger was already firmly established as one of Jamaica's leading deejays, with huge international hits such as 'Cocaine In My Brain' and 'CB 200 under his belt but in that year he really shone as a producer and released half a dozen 12' singles on the UK-based Oak Sound label featuring both himself as artist, together with the likes of Trinity, Al Campbell, Johnny Osbourne and Barrrington Levy. The standout release was the classic 'Five Man Army' which was reissued for the first time by King Spinna Records in 2014. Dillinger also released one LP on Oak Sound, 'Join The Queue', the subject of this current reissue . For some reason the album seemed to disappear off the radar and is not particularly well known today. But it deserves to be heard by a wider audience as it's on a par with his best work, and interestingly it captures the transition from the older Seventies roots style to the newer dancehall rhythms epitomised by the then in-demand studio outfit Roots Radics who contribute five of the rhythms on the album. The other five come courtesy of Lloyd Parks's We The People Band and all are original recordings made specifically for this album.

Dillinger himself is in sparkling form throughout, throwing down fresh and original lyrics ranging from the playful to the boastful ('Dillinger The People's Choice') to the downright rootical on such tunes as 'Please Officer' and 'Rub A Dub Anthem' which features some highly idiosyncratic vocalising. He even manages to slip in a bit of authentic yodelling on 'Duddle Oley', something not heard too often on a reggae record.

After 33 years out of print this reissue of 'Join The Queue' should make a welcome addition to any true Dillinger fan's collection.
