In recent years, NOFX have released their first ever double album in the form of 'Single Album' (2021), followed by 'Double Album' a year later. What fans didn't know was that wasn't all this masterpiece had to offer. NOFX's first and only double album has a fifth side! The 5 tracks on "Half Album" are not just a remnant of that session, but an integral part that holds the whole project together.

During a European tour by HADES, it became apparent that the band would soon be splitting up. Guitarist Dan Lorenzo formed Non-Fiction with Dan Nastasi (MUCKY PUP, DOG EAT DOG), who subsequently recorded an EP. However, the line-up carousel was to turn again and HADES and WATCHTOWER singer Alan Tecchio and bassist Kevin Bolembach (later SEVEN WITCHES, JACK FROST, among others) came on board. In 1991 the debut “Preface” was released on Grand Slamm Records, in Europe on Steamhammer/SPV. At the time, many fans of HADES and WATCHTOWER must have been surprised by the doom metal direction, while fans of this style remained unaware of it without the Internet. It is astonishing that certain trademarks of HADES can still be found in the music of NON-FICTION (see also the 1995 reunion album of HADES). In 1992, the second album “In The Know” was released, which is considered a fan favorite and was only released on CD at the time.

Once again, the cover artwork is reminiscent of the art of Hipgnosis (Pink Floyd, UFO etc.), which also applies to “It‘s A Wonderful Lie”, released in 1996. The band‘s third and final album is a little more experimental, but otherwise continues the familiar style. As Hades were active again at this time, the subject of non-fiction was regrettably shelved. Both HADES and WATCHTOWER (with Alan Tecchio) are - sporadically - active again today and quite a few fans hope that Non-Fiction will also make another appearance. Wie eine frische Brise, die durch ein nach langer Zeit wieder geöffnetes Fenster hineinweht, klingt „Visions”, das neunte Solo-Studioalbum der neunfachen GRAMMY-Preisträgerin, Sängerin, Songwriterin und Pianistin Norah Jones. „Visions“ entstand in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Produzent und Multiinstrumentalist Leon Michels, der die singende und Klavier, Keyboards, Gitarre und Bass spielende Künstlerin am Schlagzeug sowie an Bass, Gitarre und Saxophon begleitet. Auf einigen Songs sind zudem als Gäste Brian Blade (Drums), Dave Guy (Trompete) und Jesse Murphy (Bass) zu hören. ”Visions” zeigt Norah Jones in Bestform, sanft rockend und groovend, mit zwölf Song über eine neu empfundene spirituelle Freiheit. Man kann das Album als das Yang zum Yin von ”Pick Me Up Off The Floor” betrachten, Jones’ letztem Studio-Album mit eigenen Songs, das zu Beginn des Corona-Lockdowns im Jahr 2020 veröffentlicht wurde und viele der dunkleren Emotionen jener Zeit aufgriff.

The Equatoguinean Norberto de Nöah established in Madrid in the early 80s, where he became a firebrand of African culture in the vibrant Movida. In 1988 he self-released his first solo album, a blend of homeland sounds —modern and traditional— with new synth and drum machine touches. The vanished album finally gets its well-deserved reissue.

In the mid-1980s, the European media, music industry and public became increasingly interested in African music. This was a period of international success for King Sunny Adé, Salif Keita, Youssou N’Dour, Ray Lema, Touré Kunda, etc. Spain, with its own particular conditions, wasn’t oblivious to the phenomenon and the Equatoguinean Norberto de Nöah may be its best exponent.

Norberto moved in the early eighties from his hometown in the island Fernando Po (now known as Bioko) to its former colonial capital, Madrid. While studying dramatic arts, he created and led the band Nohkis, made up of African and Spanish musicians. In 1985 they released the maxi-single “Mujer española” / “África, ¿dónde está tu gloria?”, and the song “El loco”, was released on a compilation LP called Esto es increíble, both on the label Lollipop. According to the journalist Patricia Godes, they were first artists to record an African music record in Spain. It received positive reviews and a great impact on the most independent side of Madrid’s La Movida movement. Very soon afterwards, Nohkis’ band split up.

Afterwards, Norberto would concentrate on his solo career, and Norberto de Nöah and The Böhöbé Spirits Müsic was released in 1988, definitely a solo album. Norberto created his own label, Kilimandjaro Productions, and composed, arranged and produced all the songs of the LP. Moreover, he sang and played all the instruments: a vast selection of organic instruments, a Yamaha RX-5 drum machine and a Roland D-50 synthesizer.

In the album he exposed his deepest roots, updating the lexicon of traditional Bubi music, the musician’s ethnic group, a compendium of ceremonial melodies that ancient troubadours composed for the court. Doing so he showed new possibilities to one of the oldest ethnic groups in the world. Besides all this, he was also inspired by American music such as funk, R&B, Latin American music and also by a wide range of African and Caribbean rhythms.

Mixing the traditional and the avant-garde in a spontaneous and natural way, the music contained in the record’s grooves flows freely and takes you to places full of magic and mystery, while still transmitting new and exciting sensations. Even more, according to the Equatoguinean musician and writer Baron Ya Búk-Lu based in Madrid, the album’s sound was “the perfect combination of all characteristics that defined the Equatoguinean Afropop music made in Madrid during the 1980s”, a story that still needs to be told in all its depth and intensity!

Following the release of two LPs and several singles, the activity of Norberto de Nöah and Kilimandjaro Productions (and the subsequent Bananas Podridas) ceased. Nevertheless, Norberto’s links to music continued, as a promoter and DJ in Madrid’s nightlife.

Norberto de Nöah contributed greatly to changing Spain’s musical landscape, breaking barriers and mental frameworks. He was the first to make contemporary and popular Guinean music known to the Spanish public.

The repercussions in the African market of a Spanish (and Bube) speaking African musical project, where English and French dominate, was very difficult. In addition, the passage of time and changes in phonographic formats have diluted the memory of Norberto's legacy. Now it’s time to reverse the situation and break all the outdated frontiers!

Norberto de Nöah and The Böhöbé Spirits Müsic, as every important music piece, was at the same time part of a universal phenomenon of recognition of African music and a very personal project, based on the artist’s nostalgic and heartfelt need to show and homage his ethnic group, the Bubis. In this process he also refreshed his hometown music legacy, giving it a new air and opening the door to lots of other great Equatoguinean artists coming afterwards, as well as being an inspiration for many musicians in Spain.

Has there ever been a soundtrack so thrilling and beautiful? This is the pinnacle of cine-jazz, crafted by the master Norio Maeda.

Released in 1971, Shadow Of The Highway is a suspense-action film produced and starring Jiro Tamiya, and directed by Jun Fukuda.
True to its tagline—“A sports car tearing vertically through Japan, from Kagoshima to Hokkaido”—the film features a Mitsubishi Galant GTO racing
across the country. Often compared to the American New Cinema classic Vanishing Point, it stands as a Japanese road movie gem.

The music was composed by the legendary Norio Maeda. His piano corners with elegance, the vibraphone dashes forward with flair, the bass charges
ahead with power, and the drums shift gears with precision. Motion and stillness, obsession and desire, joy and sorrow—thrilling performances and
beautiful melodies elevate the film to new heights.

As a soundtrack, it is exceptional. But even more, it represents an extraordinary level of quality for Japanese jazz in 1971. The performances are so
remarkable that it’s unfortunate the exact personnel remain unidentified. However, it has long been rumored that the musicians may have been associated
with Takeshi Inomata’s Sound Limited—or possibly The Third.

A torrent of brilliance released from the fingertips. The art of the piano trio by a giant of arrangement.

In 1968, Norio Maeda, the genius arranger once described as being able to “write different scores with his right and left hands at the same time,” welcomed his close musical allies Takeshi Inomata and Tatsuro Takimoto and took on the piano head-on in his first piano trio work as a pianist. This album brings together the refined melodies of the new mainstream style that led the jazz scene at the time, experimental elements using prepared piano, and even a strikingly inventive recording approach in which as many as seven microphones were placed inside the piano. With the outstanding structural power of a composer and arranger and the sharp instincts of a performer woven together at a high level, this is an important work that deserves to be engraved in the history of Japanese jazz.

Nourished By Time entstand Ende 2019 in Los Angeles als eine Art Flucht aus dem Alltag. Marcus Brown drohte an der Monotonie seines Tagesjobs zu zerbrechen und suchte nach einem Ausweg. ˜Acabou Chorare™ is the second album from Novos Baianos, or ˜New Bahians,™ who formed in Bahia, Brazil, in the 1960s. They are considered to be one of the most important and revolutionary groups in Brazilian music. ˜Acabou Chorare™ ž which translates to šNo More Crying› ž was originally released in 1972 by Som Livre after the success of their first LP ˜É Ferro na Boneca™ in 1970. It charted at No. 1 in a Rolling Stone Brazil™s Top 100 Brazilian Albums Ever chart. šPreta, Pretinha› placed 20th in the same publication™s list of the greatest Brazilian songs of all time. The unique sound of this record is a result of the fusion of samba, MPB, rock ™n™ roll and bossa nova, and strong influences from Jo–o Gilberto, who frequently played with the group, and bossa nova legend Gilberto Gil.

Following the tradition of Derek Bailey, Henry Kaiser and Sonny Sharrock albums on Celluloid Records, the label is releasing this abstract and mysterious instrumental album, made under a cryptic name:AA in Reverse, by nqthqn. Recorded shortly afterlast year"s Ghostbox Cowboy, released on Tailnia Records out of China, this new effort digs deeper into what critics describe as buzzards circling the half-dead body of Harry Dean Stanton in Paris, Texas. The project curiously explores what it might be like to create no-wave abstract guitar music by a campfire, as inaugurated by Arto Lindsay, Loren Connors or John Fahey. AA in Reverse was recorded and engineered by David Akerman (Robin Hitchcock, Dead Farmers) at Golden Retriever Studios (Parcels, Cate Le Bon, Courtney Barnett) in Marrickville. nqthqn will be touring Japan this April.

Nuevos Ríos ist das neue Projekt, das aus der Zusammenarbeit zwischen der legendären kolumbianischen Band Canalón de Timbiquí, angeführt von der unverwechselbaren Stimme von Nidia Góngora (Quantic, Ondatrópica, The Bongo Hop), und dem in Toulouse ansässigen Trio Reco Reco entstanden ist, das für seine Erkundungen tranceartigen Rhythmen aus Südamerika und darüber hinaus bekannt ist. Als neueste Kreation der pulsierenden kolumbianischen Szene, die sich durch vielfältige Hybridisierungen auszeichnet, bietet Nuevos Ríos einen atemberaubenden Einblick in die afro-kolumbianischen Traditionen der kolumbianischen Pazifikküste, ergänzt durch elektronische und verstärkte Elemente. Das Ergebnis ist beeindruckend: eine Odyssee, die nie von ihrem Kurs abweicht, Grenzen überschreitet und die Zuhörer auf die Entdeckung eines neuen Flusses voller gewundener Pfade mitnimmt. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan & Party lose themselves in this collection of ancient songs whose lyrics recall Sufi poetry and stories. Shahbaaz is intense, ecstatic and uplifting. Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is one of the key artists on Real World Records and certainly one of the most influential. His voice is universally recognised as one of the greats in musical history and he was key in bringing the Qawwali music tradition—a form of Sufi devotional music popular in South Asia—to the Western world. In his lifetime, Khan collaborated with many Western musicians, including Peter Gabriel, Eddie Vedder and Michael Brook. His vocals appeared on soundtracks to films directed by Martin Scorsese, Oliver Stone and Tim Robbins. The foremost reason for his popularity is inventiveness—an ability to bring together separate traditions. To the popular Qawwali (devotional Sufi) form he has blended elements of the highly classical vocal tradition known as Khal (Persian for imagination). In this way he has created a wholly original fusion. More importantly perhaps he also draws on a range of lyrical material. It is as though he is continually both forgetting and reliving the six centuries of his family’s musical experience in a quest to find new and ever more daring paths to the sublime, carrying both eastern and western audiences to that realm known to the Sufis as Isshq— the state where earthly passion and divine love are reconciled.

Born of chance meetings in Accra, the band brings together a Burundian producer and vocalist, Betina Quest; with a Ghanaian singer-songwriter, Eli A Free; and a German percussionist and multiinstrumentalist, Ma.ttic. Nyamekye Junction take their name from a bustling junction in the Ghanaian capital, where a number of major roads merge, embodying the musical approach of the band: a singular sound at the junction of their cultural heritages.

In Eli’s words, ‘Dasein’ (from the German for ‘existence’, ‘being there’), captures “the need to live in this moment here and now with a heart full of gratitude” while exploring a number of interlinked themes, including the importance of one's environment – cultural and political, as well as physical - in situating, shaping and explaining each individual’s identity.

The band adeptly channel a wide range of influences, from the Ghanaian legends Ebo Taylor and Osibisa through to US mainstays such as Nina Simone and Erykah Badu; with equal regard given to UK innovators like Benjamin Clementine and Mala. The resulting debut EP ‘Dasein’ is a stunning collage which showcases the band’s impressive range and evolving sound by traversing a diverse range of moods, rhythms and textures.

The lead single ‘GMT’ (short for ‘Ghana Man Time’) is a dancefloor-ready track that carries a deft political message. Driven by a weighty bassline alongside punching drums and percussion, for a rhythm section that would be at home in any broken-beat set, the song explores and emphasises differing conceptions of time between the West and Africa with a playful irony.

A nice hypnotic and sensual Central African guitar record, typical 80’s productions of the
region and its diaspora. These 120 BPM tunes could be DJ used by the DJs! We got this stock
thanks to our friend Hadj Sameer, who found the vaults of an old African shop in the suburbs of
Paris, held by a family that we met.

Oaagaada hail from the town of Hämeenlinna in Finland. The quartet includes Tuure Tammi (trumpet), Sami Pekkola (sax), Tero Kemppainen (bass) and Simo Laihonen (drums). Laihonen has recently appeared on We Jazz Records with Stanley J. Zappa and previously with Black Motor, and more Oaagaada can be heard on the recent "We Jazz Live Plates" album "Lonna 2019" and on the 2020 7" single release "Oag-Ada".

OAKMAN is a French based trio with Jessie Gayaud on the drum, Geremia Gayaud on the bass and Marine Lanzillotta on guitar/vocal. They play emotional popish rock music, navigating between indiepop and alt-pop with a touch of synthpop.

To celebrate its 25th Anniversary, Familiar to Millions is re-released on 2CD and 3LP formats with the vinyl being made available for the first time since its original release in 2000. Released on November 13th, 2000, Familiar to Millions was Oasis’ first live album and was recorded at their landmark Wembley Stadium show in July that year.

Much-anticipated debut album from Leeds post-punk power-trio and 6Music favourites Objections. Optimistic Sizing is comprised of ten kitchen-sink dramas, ten miniature worlds to lose yourself in. The key topics are covered: performative royal mourning, ill-suited sexual relationships, coastal gentrification, motormouth bigots and - of course - snogging. Objections formed in the post-lockdown period after drummer Neil and guitarist Joe's former band (and cult favourites) Bilge Pump slowed to an amicable halt. They wanted to continue the musical dialogue they had built up over decades and turned to Claire Adams (Nape Neck, Beards) to start something new and Objections was born. The 3 members have also played in/with: Polaris, Yann Tiersen, HiM, Enablers, Felix and Damo Suzuki (among others). Objections released their debut 7" - BSA Day/Better Luck Next Time on Wrong Speed in 2023 and have recorded two Marc Riley / Gideon Coe BBC 6Music sessions. The Ocelots are twin brothers Ashley and Brandon Watson from Wexford, now residing in Leipzig, Germany. Building on the folk-rock essence of their debut, the duo are excited to announce the release of their highly anticipated second album, Everything, When Said Slowly, set for February 2025. This album unveils a richer, more expansive sound, masterfully produced by long-time collaborators Cillian and Lorcan Byrne (Ailbhe Reddy, Susan O'Neill). The narrative woven throughout the album explores themes of Irish migration, the perception of time, love, and the simple joys of cycling. "The title: Everything, When Said Slowly" is a response from an old Irish man's perspective on people leaving our hometown of Wexford over the years past. He said it was a very long time since they left, but not much time if you said it fast. I found it wonderful and profound, but also deeply moving and fitting for the album's sentiment. How time flies or drags depending on what you're experiencing, especially when it's time in a place you said goodbye to."

OCTOPLOID ist die Kreation des Amorphis-Bassisten Olli-Pekka "Oppu" Laine. Da er selbst auf eine lange Geschichte als Songwriter zurückblickt, war es sein langfristiges Ziel, tief in einen Pool musikalischer Elemente einzutauchen und sie zu dem zu verschmelzen, was im Debütwerk seiner neuen Band "Beyond The Aeons" gipfelte. Viele unterschiedliche Stilrichtungen zu vermischen mag weit hergeholt erscheinen, aber all diese musikalischen Schwingungen, die auch mehrere illustre Gastmusiker anlockten, verschmelzen am Ende zu einem abgerundeten Klangbild. "Beyond The Aeons? kombiniert Elemente aus Folk, Prog und Death Metal und ist ein Inbegriff des Sounds von OCTOPLOID und der musikalischen Einflüsse von Bandleader Olli-Pekka Laine. Oppu glänzt in dieser Formation nicht nur dadurch, dass er dem Album seine charakteristischen Bass-Grooves verleiht, sondern auch zusätzliche Keyboard-, Gitarrenund Gesangsparts beisteuert, und wird unterstützt von Mikko Pietinen (Schlagzeug), Peter Salonen (Gitarren) und Kim Rantala (Keyboards). Mikko Kotamäki (Swallow The Sun-Sänger) übernimmt den Leadgesang für Live-Aktivitäten.

Die erste Veröffentlichung des Labels "From Cool Waters" aus Nairobi kombiniert traditionelle kenianische Folk Elemente mit minimalistischer Elektronik und klassischer Marimba. Die Künstler haben bereits zuvor in verschiedenen Konstellationen zusammengearbeitet: Der in Deutschland geborene Kacirek war Produzent und Toningenieur von Nengos faszinierendem Debütalbum Rang"ala, das 2014 bei Honest Jon"s Records erschien, während Ratego und Kacirek 2018 das Duo ODD OKODDO gründeten, das 2019 und 2023 beim einflussreichen Nyege Nyege Festival in Uganda sowie bei Veranstaltungen auf der ganzen Welt auftrat.

Ofra Haza is the eponymous 1997 album by Israeli singer Ofra Haza. It was produced by Frank Peterson (Enigma, Gregorian) and features

Pino Palladino on the bass guitar. The album was recorded in Hamburg and at Abbey Road Studios in London and contains an updated version of the

hit song "Im Nin' Alu". It also features the singles "Show Me" and "Give Me a Sign".

This was Ofra Haza's final full-length studio album before her passing in 2000.

Auf dieser seltenen Pressung von Nigerias Tabansi-Label, die von BBE Music neu aufgelegt wurde, ist dem Mystery-Mann Ojo Balingo, Juju-Musikmeister, gewidmet. Juju-Musik, die in den 1980er Jahren von König Sunny Ade auf der ganzen Welt populär wurde, gab es eigentlich schon Jahrzehnte zuvor. Juju ähnelt in vielerlei Hinsicht der Highlife-Musik und kann als eher traditionell afrikanische Form bezeichnet werden, die hauptsächlich von Yoruba-Leuten für das Yoruba-Publikum gespielt wird.
Obwohl das Original-Cover-Artwork impliziert, dass es sich um ein Album verschiedener Künstler handelt, ist es ziemlich klar, dass es sich durchgehend um dieselbe unbenannte Juju-Band handelt, die zwei lange Tracks auf jeder Seite aufführt. Side 1 ruft eher traditionelle Juju-Sounds hervor, während die dunklere Side 2 Funk-Breaks in Hülle und Fülle hinzufügt. Hawaiianische Psych-Rock-Gitarren, pulsierendes Schlagzeug und politische Texte treffen sich in dieser fast unbekannten Juju-Rarität der 70er Jahre. Ojo Balingo in Yoruba bedeutet "Regen kommt" oder "eine Brise kommt". Und so ist es auch mit diesem nie zuvor aufgetauchten, obskuren Sammler-Vinyl aus den Tresoren von Tabansi Records.

In Okay Kaya songs, her world looks a lot like ours - Netflix, jetlag, vegan peanut butter and chocolate ice cream, lonely bowls of ramen, diet trends. But unlike ours, each of these vibrates and shimmers with deeper, darker meaning, with existential dread and desire for understanding. Through Norwegian-raised New Yorker Kaya’s dreamy soft-focus lens, the language of Twitter memes becomes modernist poetry as her breathy contralto voice sings lines like, “If you don’t love me at my guttural sound, you don’t deserve me at my guttural sound.” This is Sade for nihilists. On the opening track of her new record, ‘Watch This Liquid Pour Itself’, from Jagjaguwar, she sings, “I used to fight the feeling, always let it win.” As she transforms these feelings, defeats, and victories into songs, the lyrics often involve pools of sweat, oceans and other forms of wetness - but Okay Kaya’s world is not one of renewal and rebirth… it’s not water at all, actually. “It’s more like bile,” Kaya says, “It’s what comes out in the purge.” In these songs, Kaya swims through her melancholy and anxiety - not as a way of cleansing herself but as an understanding of their depths.

Tender tonkori melodies, meditative dub excursions and hallowed folk vocals combine on Tonkori in the Moonlight, an 11-track collection of mostly traditional songs performed by indigenous Ainu musician OKI. Born on the Japanese island of Hokkaido in 1957, OKI's released his debut album in 1996 and since then he has recorded 11 studio albums both solo and with his Dub Ainu Band and toured internationally - from WOMAD in the UK to the John F.Kennedy Center in Washington DC via festival appearances in Singapore, Australia and across Europe. OKI is one of only a handful of musicians who play the tonkori, a five-stringed Ainu harp, which is both the pulse of this record and the force that unifies the disparate sounds he introduces such as reggae, dub, Irish folk, throat singing, African drumming and music from Central Asia.
