Jodorowsky's Dune tells the tale of cult filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky's unsuccessful attempt to adapt Frank Herbert's classic sci-fi novel, Dune, to the big screen. Composer Kurt Stenzel gives life to a retro-futuristic universe as fantastic as Jodorowsky's own vision for his Dune-a film whose A-list cast would have included Salvador Dalí, Orson Welles, and Mick Jagger in starring roles and music by psychedelic prog-rockers Pink Floyd.

Building upon director Frank Pavich's idea for a score with a Tangerine Dream-type feel,' Stenzel lays out a cosmic arsenal of analog synthesizers that would make any collector green at the gills: among other gems are a rare Moog Source, CZ-101s, and a Roland Juno 6, as well as unorthodox instruments like a toy Concertmate organ and a Nintendo DS. I also played guitar and did vocals,' says Stenzel, some chanting... and some screaming, which comes naturally to me.' The score also features narration by Jodorowsky himself. As Stenzel notes, Jodo's voice is actually the soundtrack's main musical instrument-listening to him was almost like hypnosis, like going to the guru every night.'

This highly-anticipated soundtrack LP was sequenced and mixed by Stenzel with the listener in mind and flows through a four-sides' LP approach. I wanted it to play like the records I grew up with, where every side was a journey.'

One of a handful of masterful films Fellini made during the
'60s, including La Dolce Vita, Giullietta Delgi Spiriti, and Satyricon, 1963's 8 ½ is arguably the director's best work and one of the high points of 20th century cinema.
Eschewing many traditional narrative devices Fellini presents his biographical portrait through a prismatic and fantastical series of flashbacks and 'real time' scenes, both professional and personal in content.
As usual, his longtime musical collaborator, Nino Rota, substantially enhances the dreamy proceedings with a music hall melange of Jazz, Classical, Lounge, and circus music. Rota moves the main title theme through a mix of operatic interludes, cabaret swing, polka romps, and organ combo ditties.

Queimada"-edited in the USA as "Burn!" -is a film directed by Gillo Pontecorvo, released in 1969 and almost entirely filmed in Colombia; the two main actors are the world famous Marlon Brando (soon to be the main character in "The Godfather") and the unknown Evaristo Márquez, a true indigenous strongly wanted by Pontecorvo on the set, to make his fiction even more realistic.

The realization of the soundtrack was commissioned to the untiring Morricone, here assisted by conductor Bruno Nicolai and Alessandro Alessandroni choristers, the latter featured in particular in the epic opening track "Abolição" and "Hosanna". Orchestrations are still present, but the distinguishing feature of this work is a virtually exclusive and obsessive use of acoustic tribal percussions, and a Hammond organ that sometimes adds an almost police/detective movies feeling.

This work is almost full of dramatic tones, for a film that still casts a strong message against colonialism, but more generally against wars, oppression and exploitation.

This is an exclusive reissue, for an album that waited 45 years to be repressed on vinyl! Colored vinyl edition (orange & clear transparent mixed) with many bonus tracks, enclosed in a cover gatefold with a completely renewed artwork and a 30x30cm poster with film flyers and lobby cards reproductions.

Just before Heart recorded the album that became Bebe Le Strange, the band was faced with one of their biggest challenges. In October of 1979, founding member Roger Fisher was asked to leave the group (after the relationship between him and Nancy Wilson had already ended, and Wilson was now dating drummer Mike Derosier - while her sister Ann was still dating Roger Fisher's brother Michael, the band's manager). So, while Heart recorded their fifth LP in Seattle in Winter of 1979, it was their first album without Fisher's guitar playing or song writing.

Instead, Sue Ennis (a longtime friend of Ann and Nancy Wilson's) was brought in to help out co-writing tunes, and she also played some guitar and piano on the album. Collectively, Sue, Ann and Nancy called themselves "Connie" and their lyrics were more personal than ever before. Once Nancy Wilson and Roger Fisher had broken up, the creative powers in the band shifted. The Wilson sisters were now in full control. Originally released on February 14, 1980, the album contains the singles "Even It Up" and "Bebe Le Strang", and eventually certified Gold.

Nino Rota is the Italian composer responsible for the well known film scores for The Godfather series (MOVATM036), though the breadth of his work extends to opera, ballet and concertos. He was born into a musical family and studied in Italy before moving to America in the early 1930s. By the 40s he was writing film scores and soon developed a long standing creative partnership with the respected and influential film director Frederico Fellini.

Fellini made Il Bidone (also known as The Swindle or The Swindlers) in 1955. Released one year after the director's internationally successful La Strada, Il Bidone continues with many of the same socially conscious, neorealist- inspired themes while minimizing the poetic realism and extravagant vitality, that is today known as "felliniesque", in favor of a more pointed political stance.

The film follows the exploits of a group of swindlers, focusing on their aging leader Augusto, as they go about their "business," reaping both rewards and consequences.

John Carpenter's 1980 follow-up film to his smash hit Halloween featured ghost sailors terrorizing a Californian coastal community as a dense fog descends on their homes.



The multi-talented filmmaker's atmospheric synthesiser score has long been a soundtrack favourite and this double album features a 20 track LP of the entire score, drawn from the original tapes, remastered by long-time Carpenter collaborator Alan Howarth on the A/B sides and the original album which featured 20 minutes of newly released music on the C/D sides.



I went back to Sound Arts Studio in central Los Angeles and quickly began composing and recording new tracks. Dan Wyman, my creative consultant on Assault On Precinct 13 and Halloween was at my side programming the synthesizers, keeping a critical eye on my multi-tracked performances and maintaining quality control over the long hours of recording and mixing. LA VITA, A VOLTE, E' MOLTO DURA, VERO PROVVIDENZA (Life Is Tough, Eh Providence) is a western comedy directed in 1972 by Giulio Petroni and starring Tomas Milian, Gregg Palmer, Janet Agren, Maurice Poli. Tomas Milian stars as a bounty hunter with the eccentric name of Provvidenza. At the time, RCA did not issue any record although the film was a great success at the box office. Now GDM Music adjusts the time line producing the 33 rpm vinyl album that never saw the light in 1972, using a stereo master tape assembled at the time, but never printed.

LA TRAPPOLA SCATTA A BEIRUT (Agent 505 Todesfalle Beirut) is a spy movie directed in 1966 by Manfred R. Kohler and starring Frederick Stafford, Chris Howland, Geneviève Cluny. Diverted from its deserved holiday, the agent S5S, is sent along with a faithful collaborator in Beirut, where there is reason to suspect the presence of a band of criminals about to carry out an attack against the whole humanity. At that time not even a 45 rpm single with music by Ennio Morricone was printed. Now GDM Music is happy to produce an EP 10" creating a record in the style of those that came in the fifties / sixties with a retro flavor, using the original mono master tape.

The themes like Quattro palmi di terra in California', Abbiamo Julio', Questo si chiama amore', Piaceva alle donne' from the famous musical of Garinei and Giovannini written with Luigi Magni with music by Armando Trovajoli relives here a new light through extraordinary Lounge revisitings with the sound of the fabulous Marc 4, which in recent times have been rediscovered and re-evaluated by the younger generations. Even without the movie images, this really great score stands by itself as a superb page of dramatic and lovely music. On the other hand, while watching the movie, the superb orchestration is able to convey to the viewer, especially in the sequences with piano and orchestra, the excitement of the beautiful love drama. Formed out of the ashes of a Monkees worshiping beat group, and featuring 2 members that would go on to form the legendary Yellow Magic Orchestra, Apyrl Fool captures perfectly the baked and burnt outer edges of late 60s psych. Moody, fuzzy, bluesy, trippy, spacey, heavy, proggy; you name it, this record has it all. This is hard psych at its finest and it's finally back in print on LP.

Blazing Saddles is widely regarded as one of the greatest of all Hollywood comedies, a fact underlined by its three Academy Award nominations. Writer and director Mel Brooks brought to the soundtrack exactly what played out on screen, a glorious, gag-packed parody of the western genre. The main theme performed by Frankie Laine was one of those Academy Award nominations.

Running a trade ad to find a Laine sound-alike to perform the song he was astonished to see the great man himself turn up to deliver this delicious parody of of every wild west theme he had previously performed mixing elements of Rawhide, Mule Train and Gunfight At The OK Corral.

In collaboration with John Morris, Brooks skilfully also created a magnificent score that refined every possible musical cliche connected to westerns from swirling strings to choral refrains. Originally only released in part in the 1970s this 40th anniversary edition is the most complete version yet with 28 tracks that also incorporates some of the most hilarious dialogue from the film. This is a soundtrack created with love that captures perfectly the essence of a truly great film, now a rarity in the modern cinema era.

MUSTANG was screened in Cannes this year in part of the Directors' Fortnight and it would be an understatement to say that it has
moved people! This true masterpiece is the first feature film directed by French Turkish director Deniz Gamze Ergüven.

As an internationally renowned multi-instrumentalist, Australian musician Warren Ellis is the great collaborator of Nick Cave within
The Bad Seeds and Grinderman. The duo also has composed many soundtracks together: The Proposition', The Assassination of
Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford', The Road', Lawless' and Loin des Hommes', among others.

Mustang' is the first soundtrack composed by Warren Ellis as a solo artist.

Music is nothing if it can't help you bring your dreams to life, and DJ Cam has just made one of his biggest dreams come true - composing a soundtrack to "Miami Vice".

Although strictly unofficial and a pure product of his cinematic mind, this OST is intrinsically linked to the legendary series: as a feature-length album, a collection of cinematic sequences, his Miami Vice strongly evokes Sonny Crockett and Ricardo Tubbs and their investigations set in the sordid underworld of Florida's jetset.

The beatmaker has sequenced his tracks like scenes from a script, alternating the dark atmosphere of trap music with more jazzy vibes ( Love Theme', Tubbs Theme'). Electronic tracks are also very much present, as they were on his previous album Seven. The Chase' evokes a breathless action scene, while the footwork beats of Move That Dope' and Welcome to Little Haiti' reflect the intense nocturnal energy of the city.

Special guest star MC Eiht (who played A-Wax in the Hughes brothers' cult movie "Menace II Society") raps on Music To Drive By' and Street Life'. Throughout his long career, everything he has recorded has a real cinematic feel to it. MC Eiht was the perfect MC for this type of track,' says Cam. He also couldn't miss paying homage to what is practically the Miami theme song: In The Air Tonight' by Phil Collins. Here, he respectfully revisits it in a deep, cerebral fashion.

Cam's Miami Vice is fourteen visual tracks, an imaginary score that positions itself as the 'official' soundtrack just as Hollywood is preparing to film a reboot, following the first movie adaptation in 2005 by the series' original producer - and now cult director - Michael Mann. Miami Vice definitely puts the 'camera' back in Cam, making him the first-person view for our cinematic cortex.

Nekromantik is known to be frequently controversial, banned in a number of countries, and has become an international cult film over the years due to its transgressive subject matter (including necrophilia) and audacious imagery.

Daktari Lorenz, Hermann Kopp & John Boy Walton make up the holy trio of composers called upon by film maker Jörg Buttgereit. Between the three of them they produced some of the most haunting and beautiful tracks to be paired up with Buttgereit's controversial on-screen works of art.

The Nekromantik score displays the dynamic ability and range of the composers. It strikes a perfect balance of beauty, horror, joy and dissonance. The score is both minimalistic and hauntingly atmospheric at the core, and yet remarkably complex at the same time. A wide variety of instruments and sound effects are utilized throughout it's making. Kopp wastes no time displaying his mastery of the violin, which takes center stage, captivating the listener with his powerful, rhythmic, and beautiful solos. He also uses the violin to create some of the strangest tracks on the album, significantly slowing down the rhythm, creating an ominous, off-key droning sound. Kopp is no slouch on the piano either, with a number of beautiful piano interludes that appear throughout the score. In sharp contrast are the tracks which sound as if they are from an old school industrial album. Harsh noise, clanging metal, pounding drums, synthesizers, and various sound effects come together to create a truly dark and desolate picture. The moog synthesizer, also makes a few appearances. This is an amazing collection of music that appeals to a wide variety of people.

Mr. Glass was nominated for and won several Golden Globes, Bafta & Academy Awards.

In the past 30 years he has composed more than twenty operas, eight symphonies and a multitude of concertos. Considered one of the most influential composers of the last century, Mr. Glass has had renowned collaborations with artists ranging from Allen Ginsberg, Woody Allen, Ravi Shankar, Paul Simon, Linda Ronstadt to David Bowie. Phillip Glass has written music for experimental theater and for Academy Award-winning motion pictures such as "The Hours" and Martin Scorsese's "Kundun", while "Koyaanisqatsi", his initial filmic landscape with Godfrey Reggio and the Philip Glass Ensemble, may be the most radical and influential mating of sound and vision since "Fantasia". Other compositions include "Hamburger Hill" & "The Truman Show". Mr. Glass was nominated for and won several Golden Globes, Bafta & Academy Awards. In 1980 Lommel directed 'THE BOOGEYMAN' starring John Carradine, which became a 'slasher genre' hit and made the UK's banned 'Video Nasties' list. Two sequels were also produced in 1981 and 1983.

To underscore his film, Lommel needed a soundtrack that fitted the times like the synth based John Carpenter styled soundscapes used in Halloween. By the late seventies, electronic music had achieved new heights of popularity. Technological innovations such as the Mini-Moog became a weapon of choice for new composers, churning out chilling electronic music that showed the industry its full creative potential. For this he turned to Tim Krog and his team 'Synthe-Sound-Trax' composed out of Jan Barlett and Ed Christiano.

This trio produced a soundtrack far more progressive and unique than one might expect. Moving easily between traditional melodies and more experimental textures, The Boogeyman's score is a superb example of an economical but highly effective scoring style that would be prevalent throughout the ensuing decade.

As you listen to these soundscapes, remember one thing: "The Boogey man" will get you if you don't watch out'.
