Nightscapes recalls the feelings that are triggered and heightened by the dark hours. Recurring dreams, hypnagogic states, and half-sleep visions. The childhood sense of anticipation for the future that strikes in the middle of the night. The bittersweet feeling of waking up from a dream that has transported you back in time...

David Rothon is a musician from south London who has been involved in a variety of musical activities over the years, from garage bands to experimental spoken-word projects. These include a collaboration with Ian Masters (Pale Saints) as Sore & Steal and, more recently, Cloudier Skies with performer/chanteuse Claudia Barton, which was championed by Radio 3's Late Junction.

David conjures up the hours between dusk and dawn by deploying a variety of instruments including pedal steel guitar, Mellotron, Omnichord, strings and cor anglais, as well as experimenting with unusual chord changes and voicings. Patching instruments through unexpected effects pedals, and running tracks out to cassette tape and back again, help bring an otherworldly ambience to the record. Parts of the album were semi-improvised, with melody lines developing from take to take, while field recordings and happy accidents led to serendipitous results.

Nightscapes takes you on a nocturnal journey - whether into your emotions and memories, or the sleeping world outside.

The Scandinavian kings of 21st century library recently returned with their sixth album and now the first to gain a UK release; sounding like Stereolab playing covers of groovy sixties lounge pop while adding contemporary sounds and textures. This is where Krautrock inspired electro meets psychedelic funk soundtracks from Italian B-movies. In Trummor & Orgel's own words: 'the goal behind making Indivisibility was to find balance between the organic and the electronic, the dynamic and the predictable, then and now; the equilibrium between man and machine.

Since the start in 2003 Trummor & Orgel have released six instrumental full-length albums, they have worked musically with, among others, Ebbot Lundberg (The Soundtrack of Our Lives), Magnus Carlson (Weeping Willows) and Peter More´n (Peter, Bjorn and John), featured music in several TV shows and movies, received a Swedish Grammy nomination in the Jazz category, composed the score for a silent movie - but most importantly, built a reputation as being a brilliant and mind- blowing live act through their several hundreds of acclaimed live shows in Scandinavia and parts of Europe. Trummor & Orgel is Anders Ljunggren (organ) and Staffan Ljunggren (drums).

Released on Salvation Records in the UK, Trummor & Orgel join the label that introduced Klaus Johann Grobe to an international audience as well as releasing records by Liverpool's Strange Collective and France's Forever Pavot amongst others. Available in a physical format in the UK for the first time, Indivisibility is released exclusively on vinyl.

Many of these masterpieces are now out of print, so Groenland Records, who already released the highly acclaimed retrospective 'CINEMA' to mark the occasion of Holger's 80th birthday at the beginning of the year, has taken it upon themselves to release reissues of Holger's music in order to make it accessible once again.

Die LP "Chronolyse" kam zwar 1978 und nach "Rhizosphere" auf den Markt, doch eigentlich ist sie Richard Pinhas' erstes Soloalbum, da die Aufnahmen schon 1976 entstanden. Zu dieser Zeit war Pinhas stark von Frank Herberts Roman "Dune" beeindruckt, was zum Beispiel Songtitel wie "Duncan Idaho" erklärt. Es handelt sich hier um den Namen einer der Romanfiguren. Musikalisch ist "Chronolyse" streng zweigeteilt. Die erste rein elektronische und hörbar von Klaus Schulze inspirierte Hälfte, eine Reihe skizzenhafter Stücke mit
repetitiven Sequenzer-Mustern, wurde von Pinhas live im Studio auf zwei Moog-Synthesizern improvisiert.
Die zweite rockigere Hälfte, ein knapp 30 Minuten langes Stück mit dem Titel "Paul Atreides", ist ein ausgedehnter Prog-Jam, in dem Pinhas seine Synthesizer-Experimente um Gitarre, Mellotron, Bass und Schlagzeug ergänzt. Hier zeigt sich deutlich der Einfluss von King Crimson im Allgemeinen und Robert Fripp
im Besonderen.

Nach "Rhizosphere", "Chronolyse" und "Iceland" war "East West" das vierte Soloalbum des französischen
Electro-Space-Rockers Richard Pinhas. Es kam 1980 beim Major CBS auf den Markt, was dem Musiker zeitgeisttypisch eine Menge Kommerzvorwürfe einbrachte. Der jedoch sah darin vielmehr die Möglichkeit, seine Kreativität freier umsetzen zu können. "Signing to CBS was a blessing. It gave me the tools for better production", so Pinhas. Und weiter: "I don't see any virtue in remaining underground. You try to do what's best
for the music at each moment in your life. Always. The best for the music." Verglichen mit anderen Pinhas-Werken klingt "East West" noch stärker von der Elektronik der Berliner Schule (Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Michael Hoenig) dominiert und dadurch etwas glatter und einfacher, gewissermaßen poppiger. Auch Elemente von Kraftwerk und Brian Eno lassen sich nicht verhehlen. Das Album wird von zwei Teilen des Stücks "Houston 69" eingerahmt. Dabei gingen ihm Bandkollegen von Heldon - Didier Batard, François Auger, Patrick Gauthier - zur Hand. Die Vocoderstimme steuerte der SF-Autor Norman Spinrad bei, von dessen Roman "The Iron Dream" sich Heldon einst den Namen borgte

Hailing from British Columbia, their unique blend of space rock, progressive and hippie psychedelia began in 1977 as a recording-only project titled "The Melodic Energy Commission of Collected Artists."

In 1985 Ken Man showed up in the studio
with this IBM AT computer. It had a 1/2 MB of
RAM and some Voyetra software that could
sequence music, becoming the duo's backing
band. Fist Of Facts contributors included Mark Cunningham from Mars, Felice Rosser, Genevieve De Monvel Boutet, Carlos Vivanco, Scott Hartley from the Liquids and a whole host of others.
Fist of Facts expand the natural groove that Liquid Liquid established over their quick career, with a strong political message combined with abstract dub soundscapes.

Through Sympathy Nervous, Niinuma was able to channel his energy into what he loved - building his own synthesizers and speakers from scratch. Niinuma was inspired by German Krautrock and through his music created intense proto-techno soundscapes. Now finally available for the first time ever, remastered from the original tapes used for the 1980 release, is the timeless masterpiece in its entirety.

The consequences of tampering with the fabric of reality are, and always have been, direct and brutal.
 
An unrelenting quake of disruption amongst what we think, perceive, and accordingly act upon is an inevitable result, and thus leaves disaster in ways hard to conceive, much less prepare against. When these quakes initially began, the only logical cause was that Perhaps was again at the helm; and though disruptive experimentation has always been a common practice of the band, it has become increasingly obvious things may have again gotten out of hand.
 
This came as no surprise to fans however, who's cult-like obsession with the band and their practices reached a chaotic peak earlier last year after members of the bands' presence was reported in a small Eastern European compound, bordering Moldova. Flocks of adoring fans flooded the streets in search of any sign of Perhaps, many of whom belonged to dangerous gangs and shamanic cults, terrifying locals and causing thousands in damage. But this was only the tip of the iceberg for what was to come.
 
Suspicions of a new album were presented through outside sources by means of cryptic letters, and later confirmed by reports of large quantities of beached whales and colossal squid washing up on various shores on the east coast, as well as a mass disruption in the migratory pattern of elk nationwide. Following an interview with a local shaman, it appeared that Perhaps had stationed themselves somewhere in the great red canyons of Utah, apparently in attempt to create some sort of audio re-creation of cellular respiration.
 
The bands success in doing so is hardly put to question, as all members, have been front runners in the experimental recreation of natural principles through musical methods, and rarely come out empty handed. Because of 'Hexagon' being crafted through similar unorthodox principles, leading scholars and music experts in various colleges lucky enough to have received samples have hypothesized 'Hexagon' to be within some sort of shared linear relationship with the bands previous album 'V'.It has been confirmed core members and frequent contributors have returned with the making of Hexagon: (Jim Haney, Sean McDermott, David Khoshtinat, Ricky Petraglia, Ben Talmi, Tom Weeks). As well as appearances from long-time collaborators Makoto Kawabata and Tabata Mitsuru of the Japanese psychedelic-juggernaut group Acid Mothers Temple.
 
The answer to the question of whether the album had been completed came to fruition a half a year after the previously mentioned incidences and left no doubt about its truth. Following many more cryptic letters sent to our office and eerie reports, several hikers in the Utah area reported mind-shattering hallucinations, as well as locals witnessing a massive blood red moon taking place the same evening. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that 'Hexagon' was complete, and in preparation for its release, many who were religious were granted time to seek refuge in their respective places of worship.
 
For the listener, no pass is needed. And while what lies ahead may seem gargantuan, it is best to open one's mind and allow all that is necessary happen. Great spiritual wisdom is not attained without a daunting climb, and all 'Hexagon' has to offer makes that climb worth the peril. Go in head first and do not fall, or face the current.

Brooklyn trio Forma's latest LP continues their mission to 'broaden the idea of what an electronic music ensemble can sound like.' Semblance emerged from exploratory sessions at The Schoolhouse, the Bushwick loft where members Mark Dwinell and John Also Bennett live, then was tracked at Gary's Electric studios, where their previous album Physicalist was also recorded.
Inspired by polyrhythmic composition, the human voice, and conceptual improvisation strategies, the songs are striking in their textural detail and emotional nuance, alternately synthetic and sentient, futuristic and intuitive. Incorporating flute, piano, guitar, saxophone, acoustic drums and cymbals alongside an array of synthesizers, the record persuasively demonstrates the group's unique playing abilities and fluid chemistry - attributes they credit to 'techniques we've developed to trick our electronic machines into mimicking the spontaneous character of live instruments.'
Members George and John Also Bennett also cite as an influence their recent stint in minimalist composer Jon Gibson's ensemble, performing his 1973 proto-ambient masterwork Visitations. The long- form modal piece requires restraint and deep listening to execute, qualities especially apparent in the more muted moments of Semblance, such as 'Rebreather' and 'New City.'
The group states the intent of the new album as 'to be more direct and exacting', which it is. Over half a decade spent writing and recording together has distilled Forma's hybrid electro-acoustic interplay into an attuned and astounding language, capable of articulating impossible symmetries and reflective states.
The stunning visuals of the artwork are by frequent collaborator of the group Peter Burr.

This volume (1.2) focuses on the years 1970-1972 and is spread over two glorious LP's containing +77 minutes of Klaus Shulze rarities. Klaus Schulze is a German electronic music pioneer, composer and musician that needs very little introduction. In the late sixties & early seventies he was a member of several iconic bands such as 'Tangerine Dream', 'The Cosmic Jokers' & 'Ash Ra Tempel' before launching a solo career consisting of more than 60 albums released across five decades. Collaborations were numerous and highlights include working with Steve Winwood, Brian Eno & Alphaville... just to name a few.

Klaus Schulze's proto moog-synthesizer work is regarded as a milestone in electronic music & during the decades he released landmark albums in genres catalogued as 'Ambient', 'Electronic', 'New Age', 'Berlin School', 'Experimental', 'Kosmische Musik' & 'Krautrock'. Mr. Schulze had a more organic sound than most electronic artists of the time, often he would throw in decidedly non-electronic sounds such as acoustic guitar and a male operatic voice. Schulze is also known for developing a Minimoog technique that sounds uncannily like an electric guitar, which is quite impressive in concert.

On occasions he would also compose film scores such as Body Love 1977), Barracuda (1978), Next of Kin (1982), & Angst (1983). His best known song 'Freeze' has been used in films like Manhunter (1986) and more recently in Sofia Coppola's 'The Bling Ring' from 2013.

In 2009, producer Klaus D. Mueller and Schulze began releasing La Vie Electronique ("The Electronic Life"), a series of sets that collected rare sought-after early works & unreleased tracks put in chronological sequence. These sets contain some of the best music Klaus ever created and are early 70's masterworks that will appeal to both fans and collectors.

From the SLOWS camp:

The past two years has seen Matthew Simms (multi-instrumentalist & producer, WIRE, IT HUGS BACK, BILL FAY, UUUU, CHASTITY BELT) release two LP's of looping transcendental, instrumental music on London's great Deep Distance label, and perform shows in the UK and USA, including opening dates with Tortoise, Juliana Barwick & Michael Rother of NEU!

While the first LP focused on solely on the sound of his beloved old Farfisa Organ, evoking the minimalism of Terry Riley and JD Emmanuel and the 2nd his growing obsession with modular synth put through a chain of old tape delays and reverb, resulting in a more hazy Krautrock feel, akin to that of Cluster or NEU!

On this third LP it's all changed again, with the tracks growing out of the drum recordings of Matt Schultz (HOLY FUCK, ENON, LAKE RUTH).

Matthew explains, I asked him to send me anything, not to worry how it was recorded as I was going to process and destroy it, the only advice I gave him was that the weirder the better. I was instantly inspired when I listened to the clips he sent, as can be heard on the lp, he took my advice on both the patterns played and the recording technique, some with his kids chatting in the background, some recorded during sound checks where the rest of band are heard enjoying his playing! I met Matt ages ago when I was lucky to open for Holy Fuck for a month around Europe and we've stayed in touch since, not only an amazing musician and lovely person, he is also a big record collector and jazz head, which is something we both have in common.

I worked very quickly, kind of imagining Matt was in the room with me, playing the drum recordings back really loud. I think I used only my farfisa organ and korg ms-10 synth, as well as a load of effects pedals, running it all through small valve amp and using my wem copy cat tape delay a lot to glue &/or skew everything together.'

Having Matt's drums to kick things off, this record turned into something much noisier and varied than the previous release, still repetitive and minimal but with more sense of wild abandon and embracing a free-jazz influence, like that heard within the sound of the Sun Ra Arkestra'.

SLOWS is a project started by accident that has grown into a fantastic place for Matthew Simms to experiment, collaborate and follow his ideas, regardless of boundaries and not tied by anything or anyone. Where next...

The LP is released as a limited edition pressing on vinyl only of 300 copies and will sell out sharpish...

Together with Florian Fricke and Peter Michael Hamel, Deuter is certainly the main responsible of a fruitful encounter between European sensibility and Eastern aesthetics in the German music of the 1970s. Soundtrack was originally produced by Kuckuck in 1973 not for an official and public release, but as a library' to be used for films, TV and radio. As a library it respects the canonical and typological structure of the genre with 26 short sonic fragments, sequences imagined and conceived like fulminating illuminations. There's still a solid electronic vocation that, however, has put aside the most disruptive effluvia of D (1971) of pure kraut' ancestry. In fact, the album is more like an ideal passing bridge between some ritual instances of the previous Aum (1972) and the following successful phase of Deuter during the period when he stays in the Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh's ashram in Poona realizing, in parallel to a renewed inner life, masterpieces like Celebration, Haleakala, Ecstasy and Silence is the Answer. Musically speaking, Soundtrack presents itself as a heterogeneous work with nocturnal, cinematic, galactic and atmospheric-environmental implications. Electronics remains the predominant factor but can vary from mantra drones of more ceremonial and meditative space-relax' tones of some tracks (Triad, Deep Sea, Gothic Velvet or Evening) to the most amused formulations of pulsating analog synths that in the hands of Deuter become toy-equipement' to modulate and explore (Desert Rock, Synth Effect, Flea Dance or Laser). There is no lack of acoustic moments more ethnically inspired with Arabian and Indian (Reed, Arabia) or devotionally solar themes (Tom Bombaddils Dance), so evoking an air of diffuse peace then completely conquered in the beloved India.

Die noch vor Can entstandenen Stücke unter dem Projektnamen Canaxis 5 etwa (mit Rolf Dammers), die 1969 heimlich im Stockhausen-Studio aufgenommen wurden und hier - längst vergriffen - nun ihre Auferstehung feiern, die sich über vier Jahrzehnte streckenden Solo-Arbeiten (wie das zeitlos-tanzbare »Cool In The Pool«), Kollaborationen mit Brian Eno und Cluster, das Projekt Les Vampyrettes (mit Conny Plank) oder Produktionen mit der japanischen Sängerin Phew (mit Plank und Jaki Liebezeit) - und nicht zuletzt die Songs der Jah Wobble-Kollaboration »Full Circle« (ebenfalls mit Liebezeit), die Holger rückblickend zu den Höhepunkten seines kreativen Schaffens zählte. Soul Jazz Records new 2018 edition of their long out of print classic first 'Deutsche Elektronische Musik - Experimental German Rock and Electronic Music 1972-83' is 'a near-definitive guide to some of the world's most extraordinary music' (The Guardian).
The album comes as two separate double-vinyl (+ download code) editions and a large double CD pack (+36-page booklet), featuring a stunning line-up of groups including Cluster, Can, Faust, Popol Vuh, Neu!, Amon Düül, Harmonia, La Düsseldorf and Tangerine Dream as well as a host of lesser known groups such as Kollectiv, Ibliss, Between and many more. This new edition is fully re-mastered and features all the original artwork and tracks.
The first seeds of German rock and experimental electronic music were planted in 1968, as students and workers in Paris, Prague, Mexico and throughout the world demonstrated against mainstream society, the war in Vietnam, imperialism and bourgeois values. The birth of a counter-culture, drug experimentation and social change expanded musical worlds. Germany experienced its own cultural revolution fuelled by these worldwide student and worker revolts and by a generation's desire to rid itself of the guilt of war.
German rock and experimental electronic music grew out of this worldwide counter-cultural revolution of 1968. The objectives were to create new music, 'free' from the past, many German youth turning their back on mainstream society. From the opening of the first collective/cooperative, Kommune 1, in Berlin, to the formation of the Baader-Meinhof terrorist group and the bombings, kidnappings and killings of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (RAF), young Germans sought out new values and a lifestyle outside of 'the system'.
These cooperative and communal experiences led to a number of new collective German bands forming such as Amon Düül, Faust, Can (all featured here) and others and these ideals drove this new movement. A music that gave seed out of the cultural 'nothingness' that young Germans felt as a consequence of Germany's role in the Second World War. A generation who grew up stifled by the recent history of Nazi atrocities, the guilt of their parents' generation and their disillusionment at the reintegration of old Nazis into mainstream society.
Influenced equally by the electronic experimentalism of Stockhausen, the progressive rock of Pink Floyd and the black American jazz and soul music played at the occupying armed forces bases, young German artists seamlessly created out of this a new unique music with its own unique identity.

First ever reissue of this impossible to find artefact from the Swiss underground avant-garde scene of Geneva, originally released as a private boxset limited to 150 copies in 1973, only sold at art galleries.

A unique, instrumental mix of free-jazz, classical, psych-rock, folk, improv, kraut, funk and musique concrete with tape effects...

In the late 60s, musician / guitar player Christian Oestreicher, a savage in the era of twist and free jazz', met artist and painter Richard Reimann - famous for his optical art -, at the Aurora art gallery in Geneva. Fuelled by the artistic creativity from this underground scene, where jazz and rock musicians rubbed shoulders with artists, poets and painters, Christian ideated the Mouvements project, enrolling his friend Richard to create the artwork.

Christian was a trained guitar player with diverse influences: Ornette Coleman, Chuck Berry, Zappa, Soft Machine...He envisioned Mouvements as a concept album and he asked some of his musician friends from the jazz / rock scene to join in for the recordings: among them, Jean-François Boillat (of Boillat-Thérace), Blaise Català, Jerry Chardonnens...

The album sessions took place at an occupied mansion during 1972, using three Revox machines. The musicians played standing in a circle and there was lot of room for improvisation. Tape effects and a small portable synth were also used.

The result was released in 1973 as a hand-numbered, deluxe boxset limited to 150 copies, including a series of Richard Reimann's lithographies and inserts. For this, the first ever reissue, we've created a new, more affordable edition with new artwork, including an insert with liner notes and previously unreleased photos.

LP edition comes housed in a silver-mirrored sleeve.

LP version come with a digital download coupon including all the tracks from the LP/CD plus another four bonus tracks taken from the album sessions.

Probably the most rock' sounding of all the Pyramyd titles, Temple were an ad-hoc outfit born out of several late night sessions at Dierks Studios (where Toby was working at that time), involving local friends of Toby and other musicians from adjoining studios, among them Zeus B. Originally released in 1970, Affenstunde (literally 'Ape Hour') was the first album by a German band to employ the extraordinary sounds of the Moog synthesizer. Blending electronics with traditional percussion instruments, Popol Vuh - led by the legendary multi-instrumentalist Florian Fricke - created a tribal and dreamlike blanket of sound that would go on to influence many-a-band on the krautrock scene and beyond. Popol Vuh would also soon famously begin to collaborate with Werner Herzog, composing many of the soundtracks to his films from this period (including Aguirre: The Wrath of God, Nosferatu and Fitzcarraldo).

Amon Düül's 1969 debut-LP 'Psychedelic Underground', here reissued on vinyl, is music at its most experimental and relentlessly uncommercial, using late '60s influences as a launching ground for what would become known as Krautrock. Taken from a jam session from the previous year, but treated with many studio effects that enhance the strangeness of the collection, 'Psychedelic Underground' rocks to its own weird beat.

1972s Psychonaut, by the Swiss-based Brainticket, is early seventies space rock at its finest. While the bands debut album, 1971s Cottonwoodhill, was a heavily acid-laden affair dominated by droning organ, disturbing vocals and a collection of cacophonic sound effects (causing it to carry a warning label and be banned in several countries) for their second effort, band-founder Joël Vandroogenbroeck brought in a completely new line-up and changed the bands sound dramatically. While Psychonaut still takes listeners into the realm of altered consciousness -- making heavy use of a droning Hammond, sitar, tablas, etc.-- this time the vocals are more melodic and the music itself is more song-oriented. This is by far Braintickets most accessible album, and perhaps their most timeless. Fully remastered from the original master tapes!

Klaus Schulze is a German electronic music pioneer, composer and musician that needs very little introduction. In the late sixties & early seventies he was a member of several iconic bands such as 'Tangerine Dream', 'The Cosmic Jokers' & 'Ash Ra Tempel' before launching a solo career consisting of more than 60 albums released across five decades. Collaborations were numerous and highlights include working with Steve Winwood, Brian Eno & Alphaville... just to name a few.

Klaus Schulze's proto moog-synthesizer work is regarded as a milestone in electronic music & during the decades he released landmark albums in genres catalogued as 'Ambient', 'Electronic', 'New Age', 'Berlin School', 'Experimental', 'Kosmische Musik' & 'Krautrock'. Mr. Schulze had a more organic sound than most electronic artists of the time, often he would throw in decidedly non-electronic sounds such as acoustic guitar and a male operatic voice. Schulze is also known for developing a Minimoog technique that sounds uncannily like an electric guitar, which is quite impressive in concert.

On occasions he would also compose film scores such as Body Love (1977), Barracuda (1978), Next of Kin (1982), & Angst (1983). His best known song 'Freeze' has been used in films like Manhunter (1986) and more recently in Sofia Coppola's 'The Bling Ring' from 2013.

In 2009, producer Klaus D. Mueller and Schulze began releasing La Vie Electronique ( The Electronic Life'), a series of sets that collected rare sought-after early works & unreleased tracks put in chronological sequence. These sets contain some of the best music Klaus ever created and are early 70's masterworks that will appeal to both fans and collectors.

Now available for the first time on vinyl, One Way Static Records presents the first volume in our new archival series 'La Vie Electronique'. This volume (1.0) focuses on the years 1968-1971 and is spread over two glorious LP's containing +78 minutes of Klaus Shulze rarities. This deluxe vinyl set also comes with an insert containing extensive liner notes.

The eight tracks contained within open the listener to a new dimension to the Reinhardt oeuvre, expanding deeply on the sonic themes explored in previous albums with a sense of immersive, meditative intent. As Jesse himself says 'The latin origin of 'Conclave' translates to with key. The pieces of music selected for this album are designed to unlock, by way of machine and human synthesis, ritual and musical ceremony previously hidden from public view. The Conclave ceremony, traditionally designed to introduce something important, is a tool of power and of powerful groups. 'Surge' here refers to electric discharge arcing across a room, crackling gear, and skittering currents sourcing ground'.

'Last', the third LP by krautrock legends Agitation Free, was originally released in 1976 on Barclay in France as a posthumous LP that included tracks from '73 and '74. Agitation Free had been formed in 1967 by Lutz 'Lüül' Ülrich, Michael 'Fame' Günther, Lutz 'Ludwig' Kramer and Christoph Franke. They soon gained the residency as the house band on Berlin's Zodiac Club with their impressive multimedia stage show. By 1973 they had already released two LPs and suffered several line-up changes and the members of the band that recorded 'Last' included Michael Günther on bass, Burghard Rausch on drums, plus Jörg Schwenke and Lutz Ulbrich on guitars, plus friends - Erhard Grosskopf on loops, Michael Hoenig on sinthesizer, a.o. Although the album was first released in 1976, side one was recorded live in France in March 1973 and side two live in the studio in Berlin, February 1974. But don't be fooled by this, the whole LP sounds as a proper studio recording, no intrusive audience noises, perfect mix, outstanding audio quality.

Fans of Can, Guru Guru, Faust or Tangerine Dream will enjoy the sound of Agitation Free, where all elements of acid guitar krautrock mix to perfection with experimental sounds, kosmische atmospheres and tape looping.

Coming out of the boiling Munich scene of the sixties that also gave us the original Amon Düül (Thom Argauer had played in a dixieland band with Chris Karrer in the late 60s, actually), Siloah are one of the best kept secrets of the krautrock production. Siloah had a hard core including Thom Argauer, Manuela von Perfall, Heinrich 'Tiny' Stricker and Wolfgang Görner, plus a host of guests coming and going, everybody was free to join and play at any time, guest members often joining from the Baumstassen commune around which the band was living before they eventually moved to an abandoned farm on the outskirts of town.

Their first LP is a trippy acid psychmasterpiece recorded in 1970 and privately issued on German Blues and Undergrund. It showed a strong influence from US West Coast psychedelic music and has a lovely acoustic approach. It's sound is free, full of improvisation and with a charming amateurish feel all through it. It will appeal to lovers of free spirits like Amon Düül themselves, Kalacakra or even Música Dispersa.

The Wah Wah reissue is made in cooperation with Thom Argauer family, it has been cut from the original master tapes, has original artwork (improved by printing it over a mirror finish silver cardboard), has two bonus track not on the original LP added, features an insert with photos and liner notes and comes in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies only.

He also looked for a more electric approach, himself moving from acoustic guitar to electric organ.

'Sukram Gurk' was the title chosen for their second LP. It was the name of Markus Krug spelled backwards. Markus' name was chosen because it was the one that sounded better phonetically to the ears of the trio. The sound of the album takes it all one step further, turning into an electric storm, yet retaining the free psychedelic improvisation feel of its predecessor.

Flying Saucer Attack - In Search Of Spaces

First ever reissue and first time on vinyl for this unique Flying Saucer Attack live album, expanded with additional material and a new side four mix from Jim O'Rourke. Produced in collaboration with Dave Pearce / FSA and Bruce Russell (compiler of the original CD release for his Corpus Hermeticum label), featuring new artwork by Bruce Russell as well.

While rightly known for the folk-influenced songs and spacey instrumentals of their proper albums, the briefly active live version of FSA unexpectedly delivered a blistering wave of electric sound. Recorded at various shows in 1994, In Search Of Spaces heaves with long passages of feedback guitar racket, broken up by sections of surging rock music. The live band focused almost exclusively on visceral, trebly guitar noise—which, while always a key element in their sound, was greeted by audiences with total mystification (and often disapproval). Following a few brief attempts to settle a lineup and play songs from their records, Dave Pearce / FSA abandoned live performance altogether, leaving behind this album (and the barely available P. A. Blues CDR) as the sole document of his in-person delivery.

Originally compiled and released in 1996, this reissue adds several minutes of music back to the original program that had been edited out by FSA for being too rock.' For side four, Jim O'Rourke revisited the original 1994 live tapes and has made a spooky and brooding new mix of music exclusive to this release.

On paper, the collaboration between Jello Biafra and Ministry seems like a match made in industrial punk heaven, and thankfully the first release from Lard lives up to these expectations. Both parties seemed to have taught the other side a thing or two: Jello Biafra is more focused than usual, while Alain Jourgensen and Paul Barker from Ministry sound a lot more punky and loose. The percussion, courtesy of Bill Rieflin and the late Jeff Ward, is firmly in an industrial style, though — all mechanized metallic thrashing, but it works just fine with the material. The standout track is "Forkboy," the album's opener, a frantic guitar workout with Biafra's righteous anger coming through loud and clear.

Bis was formed in late 1994 by teenagers Sci-fi Steve, Manda Rin and John Disco. From 1995 on Bis released a string of 7''s and EP's, on indie labels like Chemical Underground, Guided Missile and their own Teen-C Recordings. Bis had a sound that was completely their own, an agressive yet poppy mix of punk, indie pop, riot grrrl, new wave and britpop. Their second EP for Chemical Underground, 'The Secret Vampire Soundtrack', managed to enter the British top 30, and the band was even invited to perform one of the songs of the EP, 'Kandy Pop', on Top Of The Pops. Bis released their 1997 debut album 'The New Transistor Heroes' on Wiija (Europe), the Beastie Boys' label Grand Royal (US) and Sony (Japan) - selling more than 100.000 copies of the album in Japan, where they were very popular, alone. After two more albums, 1998's 'Social Dancing', that had a more poppy and modern sound and featured hit single 'Eurodisco' and the 2001's 'Return To Central', leading the band further into electronic terrority, Bis split up in 2003. Members went on to other projects, only to return in 2005, with an extra rhythm section, als Data Panik. After three reunion shows and releasing a greatest hit compilation in 2007, Bis came back together in 2009, and have been playing shows regularly ever since, releasing the 'Data Panik' album in 2014, a bunch of (split) singles and re-releasing deluxe editions of their albums on their own 'Do Yourself In'-label. And now, in 2017, Bis ads a Christmas single to their already extensive discography, a single that shows two completely different sides of the band. The A-side, the catchy Christmas anthem 'You Wrecked My Christmas' brings 'Social Dancing'-era Bis to mind, with punky guitars, uptempo drums, 80s synths and a chorus that refuses to leave your mind once you've heard it. On the B-side Bis take Saint Etiennes' synthpop-influenced Christmas hit 'I Was Born On Christmas Day', strip it to the bones, and it ends up sounding like Bis' interpretation of a 21st Century krautrock Christmas song.

For a year, friends and producers Jean-Gabriel Becker and Susumu Muka have been meeting for collaborative recording sessions at Sounds And Sons studio in Shoreditch.

Susumu Mukai, originally from Kanagawa, Japan, has been involved in diverse projects such as Zongamin, Stalactite and Off World as producer and multi-instrumentalist. Mukai is also a member of bands including Fimber Bravo, Vanishing Twin and Floating Points. Jean-Gabriel Becker, originally from Paris, France, has been writing music under various names and in numerous projects, from Jeanga And George and Economy Wolf to Lux Prima to name only a few. He also composes extensively for films and television under his own name. The sessions for Eyes, their first EP together, unfolded as a musical dialogue between the duo - open-ended, discovering the sounds as they revealed themselves in an organic way. Although some influences can be heard, from acidhouse to krautrock, to jazz and psychedelia, the otherness of Eyes EP refuses to be categorised easily.

It picks up where the nerve-damaged exotica of 2015's A Shimmering Replica left off...acerbic surf' guitar and synthetic salt-breeze fit for the Tropic of Yorkshire. Instant immersion in a potent, pungent psychedelia that feels equal parts cosmic and aquatic. What Todd wrenches out of his instrument these days is a language unto itself (perhaps it always was)... a helical, ecstatic, grieving howl...a (super)natural efflorescence, beyond earthly description or transcription...ur-rock and post-everything. But equal emphasis is given here to pulsating machine rhythms and lush keyboard textures, with killer contributions from longtime fellow traveller Mel O'Dubhshlaine. There were pre-echoes of all this in the recent(ish) Fluctuants and Aero Infinite: but To Make A Fool feels like the culmination, or the fullest expression, of something which was only glimpsed in those earlier works. The side-long 'Spray Two' - gently eddying string-pads gradually slashed to all f***k with fraught piano improvisations - is a masterpiece in its own right. At its delirious peak, the whole thing boils over into brooding, arpeggiated noir-techno - Michael Mann's steadicam roaming Leeds' B-roads, some kind of tangerine nightmare - before finally cooling into a bleary starfield of pure and sumptuous hypno-tone. This LP is a trip, in the most skull-splitting, soul-crinkling sense of the word, but it soothes and heals as well. A circular and transformative journey to the other side of the underneath and a landmark recording from one of the most adept and visionary nodes in Britain's freakout underground.

Dubbed-out cosmic pastorals and politically exasperated techno-exotica from Blackest Ever Black's most secretive and shape-shifting project. Guest contributors include Conrad and Jonnine Standish of HTRK, Genevieve McGuckin (These Immortal Souls), and Lucas Santanna. The ghosts of Les Baxter, Rowland S. Howard and Nina Simone are also in attendance. But whoever is pulling the strings remains hidden...possibly in plain view. Structurally Wreck His Days recalls the grand collective statements of This Mortal Coil or Massive Attack, but musically its dreamlike overtures have more in common with Deux Filles, Global Communication, Arthur Russell, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Anthony Moore, even Robert Wyatt circa Old Rottenhat/Nothing Can Stop Us. It roams far and wide: from the lambent, near-Balearic piano loops of the title track, to the Audrey Horne-worthy death-jazz of 'Ghost From The Coast', and hulking, bass-heavy soundsystem weapon 'Reverberasia'. Side Two opens with the swelling, uplifting astral psychedelia of '...And I Tried So Hard', while 'I Beat As I Sleep As I Dream' reprises the bleak existential synth drift of T.T.W.F.U.'s extraordinary 2014 10', How Great A Fame Has Departed. A deep-seated socialist impulse drives the whole thing: with a dedication to women who have fought oppression throughout history, references to the Spanish Civil War and the UK Miners' Strike, and an overarching belief in the international ideal (in fact the closing 'Rosa / Kollontai' explicitly invokes the Internationale). Written and recorded over the course of 2014-15, Wreck His Days is a plea, or perhaps a requiem, for a world that embraces difference and upholds equality. Its contemporary relevance hardly needs emphasising.

In a year that included sell-out shows at The Lexington - Islington, The Trades - Hebden Bridge and The Brixton Windmill, a stint opening for Suede on tour and the release (and repress) of their debut LP St Leopards, Aircooled found time in their studios in St Leonards on Sea, where they live, to write, record and produce Eat The Gold, a set of winning, infectious tunes that, while neatly avoiding resting on the laurels of their initial success, ignites with all the energy of a band at the peak of their power. From the super solid, relentless grind of Katharine and Justin’s stainless steel rhythm section to the twin-voices-as-one vocals from Riz and Ollie and the psyched-out riffing, wig-out guitars and synthesizers this is mirror ball disco funk rock from a band that’s clearly and unashamedly having a very good time.

Im September 1968 spielte AMON DÜÜL bei den "Internationalen Essener Songtagen", dem ersten fünftägigen Rockfestival Deutschlands, das der spätere Ohr-Labelchef Rolf-Ulrich Kaiser initiiert hatte. Der Berliner Musikproduzent Peter Meisel hörte und sah die Band dort und nahm sie spontan unter Vertrag, zusammen mit Tangerine Dream und Birth Control. AMON DÜÜL stand der Berliner "Kommune 1" nahe und entstand zu einer Zeit, da jeder ein Künstler war, der einer sein wollte. Und so konnte auch jeder, der wollte, ein Musiker sein. Zusammen, im Kollektiv, war alles möglich. Angelika und Helge Filanda, Wolfgang Krischke, Ulrich Leopold, Rainer und Ella Bauer, Peter Leopold sowie Uschi Obermaier spielten in Meisels Studio zeitgemäß high in the sky eine Session ein, die alle Regeln durchbrach und alle Hörgewohnheiten auf den Kopf stellte. Die Aufnahmen wanderten zunächst in den Giftschrank, erst ein Jahr später traute sich Meisel, sie unter dem Titel Psychedelic Underground zu veröffentlichen. Hier ist die Fortsetzung: Die Doppel-LP Disaster/Lüüd Noma erschien 1972, als es die Gruppe AMON DÜÜL schon nicht mehr gab, und sie präsentiert weitere Aufnahmen aus derselben Session. Alle Titel sind surreale, unübersetzbare Wortspielereien, die Stücke sind klanglich besser organisiert, weniger fragmentarisch, klarer voneinander abgesetzt und ausgefeilter nachbearbeitet als auf der ersten LP - der ausgenzwinkernd mitgelieferte Hinweis, alle Störungen und Fehler seien beabsichtigt, hat aber gleichwohl einen wahren Kern. Sense and Sensuality (1982) was the second and final album by seminal British post-punk band The Au Pairs. The four-piece group from Birmingham were very much in tune with the early 80s growth pangs from the first punk explosion - stripping down their music from their debut LP to a funkier, more rhythmic essence, and shifting the focus of their lyrics to the personal rather than the political.

The addition of horns and imaginative synthesizers allowed for more satisfying sonic diversity, from the disco-informed dance-punk of “Instant Touch” to the cabaret swing of “Tongue in Cheek”. While “That’s When It’s Worth It” takes several elements of popular post-punk - looping auxiliary percussion rhythms and a sporadically used horn section - and crafts them into a wild sound that’s equal parts dance, psychedelia, punk and art pop.

Their distinctly punk take on sex and gender politics, meanwhile, was their strongest thematic strain - and that’s truly where Sense and Sensuality shined. Despite only reaching #79 in the UK when first released, it’s now widely seen as one of the best post-punk albums ever.

Sense and Sensuality is now available as a limited numbered edition of 750 copies on translucent magenta coloured vinyl and contains an insert.

Including their fantastic studio demo from 1968 plus raw & wild live tracks

Boogie (or The Boogie) was probably the first hard-blues / proto-metal group
that emerged from the San Francisco scene. This power-trio was formed by
Barry “The Bee” Bastian (Canned Heat, Lee Michaels...) on guitar/vocals;
John Barrett (The Rhythm Dukes) on bass and Fuzzy John Oxendine (Roky
Erickson & The Aliens, Jerry Miller Band...) on drums.

Comrades of Moby Grape (who even let Boogie use their rehearsal space) and
the Sons Of Champlin, they played at all the legendary venues (The Ark,
Avalon, Fillmore…) sharing stage with bands like Buffalo Springfield,
Quicksilver, Ace Of Cups, Flamin’ Groovies or Country Joe & The Fish. Their
explosive show at the Sky River Rock Festival (August, 1968, the first
outdoor multi-band Rock Festival held in the United States) to an audience
of 150,000 people, is still remembered today.

Sadly, their convulsed story, which includes undercover narks and marijuana
busts, left them with no record deal. But a studio demo - recorded in 1968
at Pacific High Recorders - including three tracks, “In Freak Town”, “To Me”
and a terrific, fuzzed out 7-minute long cover of “Wade In The Water”, plus
some live recordings from 1969, survived. Previously available only as part
of a private CD released by Barry Bastian, here’s the first ever vinyl
release.

In 1969, Los Brincos, probably the most famous Spanish ‘60s pop band - often dubbed “the Spanish Beatles” – added a new member to their line-up: Colombian born Oscar Lasprilla, an accomplished keyboard / guitar player who had previously been part of pioneering Colombian psych bands Time Machine and the Speakers.

Influenced by psychedelia, prog-rock and underground sounds, Los Brincos (now simply named ‘Brincos’), led by drummer / main songwriter Fernando Arbex, decided that their new album would be a conceptual work - something never seen in Spain until then - similar to what other international bands like Beatles, Who, Moody Blues or Pretty Things were doing. The concept behind the album was supposedly to be based on the three enemies of the soul: the world, the flesh and the devil, hence the final title: “World Devil Body”.

This ambitious work was recorded by the new Brincos line-up - with famous Spanish musician Augusto Algueró as arranger - at the same place where King Crimson recorded their legendary debut, Wessex Studios in London, using the same sound engineer, Robin Thompson.

The recording sessions were intensive and highly productive, with the band giving plenty of room to improvisation. Some songs were sung in Spanish, some in English, being the central piece an outstanding 12 minute long conceptual psych suite, sung in English and titled “Mundo Demonio y Carne” (“World Devil & Body”), comprised of four parts and written by Fernando Arbex and Oscar Lasprilla. There was nothing similar in Spain at that time and this track stands today as one of the earliest, if not the first, progressive pieces ever recorded by a Spanish band.

Regarding the other tracks, we find many surprises: a long eastern sounding instrumental (“Kama-Sutra”); the eerie “Esa Mujer”, with a hair-rising orchestral arrangement by Algueró, featuring members of the London Symphony Orchestra; British influenced psych-pop “Jenny La Genio”, “Promises and Dreams” or “Butterfly” (which featured vocals sung through a megaphone!); hard-psych with plenty of guitar and Hammond (“Emancipation”, “Misery & Pain”)…

The album was originally intended to be housed in a gatefold cover with artwork by hyperrealist painter Claudio Bravo, showing the five members of the band naked from their waists up. It was instantly rejected by the label. Also, the heads of the label showed little interest in this project, as they didn’t understand it at all, putting many objections to the proposed tracklist / release ideas. In the end, the release received zero promotion. Finally, the album, housed in a new cover by another painter depicting a bizarre viscous brain, was released in 1970 in two different versions: one in Spanish (Mundo Demonio Carne) and another in English (World Devil Body). They featured different tracklists / songs but both versions included the English sung “World Devil Body” suite. Fernando Arbex had the US market in mind for the English version but in the end that version was released only in Spain, Germany and, oddly enough, Japan. The album was received with mixing reviews… it was too ‘progressive’ for most of the Brincos fans and the few progressive music fans in Spain didn’t even bother to listen to it, as they still thought of Brincos as a pop band. Soon after, the band, tired and exhausted, disbanded after giving an amazing concert at a famous progressive music festival in Barcelona, sharing stage with new Spanish underground bands like Máquina! and Smash.

During the years, both the Spanish/English versions of the album have been reissued many times. Then, in 1997, Fernando Arbex released (only on CD) what he understood was the definitive English version, featuring the nude Claudio Bravo cover for the first time and a new, different tracklist that, according to him, was the one he originally intended to release in 1970 but couldn’t do it due to frictions with the record company. The result is an English sung album with a strong late ‘60s British psychedelic flavour, including one of the best tracks Brincos ever recorded, “If I Were You” (which inexplicably was not included in the original release at the time) and a different mix of the “World Devil Body” suite.

Selbst wenn man glaubt Can zu kennen, inklusive aller Alben und den legendären Lost Tapes, gibt es hier immer noch vieles entdecken das einen überrascht. Diese Musik ist nie zweimal derselbe Fluss.

Das neue Album in fünf Teilen, Can Live in Stuttgart 1975 dokumentiert einen wichtigen und beeindruckenden Teil der Can-Geschichte. Da in den 70gern technische Pannen immer wieder die geplannten Live-Aufnahmen sabotierten, fehlten diese im Spoon Katalog. Nun wurden die besten Bootleg-Aufnahmen genommen und unter der Leitung von Gründungsmitglied Irmin Schmidt und CAN Produzent/Toningenieur René Tinner durch die Mühlen der Technologie des 21. Live in Paris 1973 zeigt Can in magischer Form bei einem Auftritt, der am 12. Mai 1973 im Pariser L'Olympia aufgezeichnet wurde und bei dem erstmals Damo Suzuki am Gesang zu hören ist. Von 1970-73 wurde die Stammbesetzung von Irmin Schmidt, Jaki Liebezeit, Michael Karoli und Holger Czukay durch den japanischen Improvisator und Sänger Suzuki ergänzt. Sie lernten sich durch eine zufällige Begegnung kennen, als Suzuki als Straßenmusiker in München unterwegs war; einige Monate nach dem hier veröffentlichtem Auftritt verließ Damo die Band. Dieses neue Album in der Reihe ermöglicht es uns, die Band in einer besonders wichtigen Phase ihrer Karriere zu erleben, da zwei ihrer am meisten gefeierten Alben - Tago Mago und Ege Bamyasi, wobei letzteres in den Pariser Auftritt einfließt - erst kürzlich veröffentlicht wurden. Die Aufnahmen wurden von Gründungsmitglied Irmin Schmidt und Produzent/Sound Engineer René Tinner, die alle Alben dieser Reihe zusammengestellt und bearbeitet haben, aus Aufnahmen in den Archiven von Spoon Records und von hilfsbereiten Fans eingesandten Aufnahmen zusammengesetzt und für das 21. Aufgenommen wurde das Album im Schloss Nörvenich mit Cans erstem Sänger Malcolm Mooney. Das Album „Cage Company“ der Mannheimer Band CANARY erschien 1981 und ist im gutem Zustand heute für nicht unter 80 Euro zu bekommen – wenn es denn überhaupt auftaucht. Das verwundert nicht, denn die Mischung aus Hardrock, Krautrock und Prog lässt gleich mehrere Zielgruppen auf die LP schielen…

Viel ist nicht bekannt über CANARY und offensichtlich ist das wichtigste Bandmitglied, Drummer Klaus Jungmann, im Dezember 2024 verstorben. Mannheim war gerade in den Siebzigern ein kreatives Pflaster für Rockmusik. Man denke nur an Kin Ping Meh, Twenty Sixty Six And Then, oder auch die frühe Joy Fleming. CANARY führten diese Kultur weiter in die frühen Achtzigerjahre. Sie erhielten einen Vertrag beim Label SriLanca (auch als SL-Records bekannt), welches zum GAMA Musikverlag gehörte. Der wiederrum entstand aus dem Umfeld der Gruppe Eulenspygel. So wurde „Cage Company“ von Achim Bosch im Spygel Studio zwischen Dezember 1980 und März 1981 aufgenommen. Leider hatte das frischgebackene Label SriLanca damals nicht das Budget, die LP adäquat zu bewerben und flächendeckend in die Läden zu stellen. So wurde „Cage Company“ zum Geheimtipp und zur Rarität.

Golden Core machen dieses anspruchsvolle Album in restaurierter und remasterter Version wieder zugänglich. Das Booklet, bzw. das LP-Inlay, enthält Scans/Abbildungen der originalen LP von 1981.

Side A is a rework by Studio Kosmische of “Under Neon Stars”, a track from Cloud Canyon’s 2023 debut album “Dreaming Of Horses Running In Circles”: by adding a few parts and alchemically blending the original elements of the song - the relentless motorik pulse, the ethereal female vocals, the multilayers of monophonic analogue synths - Studio Kosmische’s version moulds a shrouding and lilting veil on the 9-minutes long original track. Side B features a brand new track, “Black Fruit”, also sprung from the creative dialogue between the two bands and clocking at about 9 minutes side-long. Accomplished by some subtle electronics treatment by Cloud Canyons’ Nicola Caleffi, “Black Fruit” ideally complements “Under Neon Stars” as a two-sided creature, hanging somewhere between krautrock and electronica.

The origins of Cos date back to the second half of the sixties when Daniel Schell joined forces with Jean-Paul Musette, Pascale Son and Robert Pernet to form Classroom. When Classroom split, Daniel Schell and Pascale Son moved ahead and formed Cos together with Charles Loos, Alain Goutier and Bob Dartsch. They produced an experimental jazz rock sound linked to the influences above mentioned, but without being mere copycats since they always managed to keep to their own personality.



Viva Boma was their second LP, originally issued in November 1976, and added some African influences to the mix, including the cover which, designed by Alain Goutier upon a concept by Daniel Schell, depicted a trio of hipopotamus that made reference to Boma, a portuary city at the banks of the river Congo, and Bomma, Belgian word for grandmother (hence the title appearing either with one or two m's on different parts of the artwork).

Hailing from Berlin CURLY CURVE has been one of the best german rock bands of the 70s. Although there were some relations to krautrock acts (bass player Kurt Herkenberg was one of the founding members of TANGERINE DREAM for example) they had the emphasis on playing sophisticated blues rock. The band started in 1968 and saw several line-up changes over the years. Alex Conti (later Atlantis, Lake) was aboard for some time but had already left when CURLY CURVE produced this eponymous album in 1973. It should remain their only official studio album.

“I first heard Michael Yonkers via the Microminature Love reissue (Sub Pop) and was immediately hooked. I started collecting any piece of his legend that I could…some true, some likely not. He had hand-built all of his gear. He had broken his back. He was part of experimental surgery that left him in lifelong pain. He was a dancer. He was still kicking around making some of the oddest and most contrary-to-contemporary-popular-norms type of music. (A man after my own heart) And then I heard Goodby Sunball, recorded and released in 1974, the year I was born. I had and have a very deep connection with this set of songs. I wasn’t sure why, but when I finally met Michael, I understood. He was kind and seemingly a pretty regular guy. But he was also a weirdo. A rare bird, waving the true freak music flag, and it didn’t matter what kind of music he made, I loved it all. So, this record was recorded as a way to reboot and reconnect with some songs that have heavily inspired me over the years. It was hard to pick from his vast catalog, so I just sort of jumped in, with Tom Dolas, Nick Murray, and Brigid Dawson as my band (along with a bevy of others along the way) and these are the tunes that stuck to the wall. War Drosselbart eine Krautrockband nur weil sie aus München kamen wie Amon Düül, deutsch sangen und 1971 bei einer großen Plattenfirma ihr erstes und einziges Album veröffentlichten? "Nein", meint Monika Vincent-Gunia aka Jemima, Sängerin von Drosselbart. "Wir waren die erste Punkband Deutschlands. Die Jungs von der Band konnten damals nur drei Akkorde, vielleicht auch vier, aber sie brannten vor Begeisterung." Doch mit dem Punk der Mitsiebziger Jahre hat dann Drosselbarts Musik auf dem gleichnamigen Album recht wenig zu tun. Die Jungs hatten anscheinend doch ein bisschen geübt und sich mehr als vier Akkorde draufgeschafft. So klingt das Ganze stark nach den 1960er Jahren, erinnert gelegentlich an härtere rockende, psychedelische US-Bands wie Iron Butterfly oder an die Musik britischer Bluesrocker wie z. B. Brian Auger und Julie Driscoll. Keyboarder Christian Trachsel steuert ein paar progressive Momente bei und Gastmusiker Ralf Nowy sorgt für klassisch angehauchte Hörerlebnisse. Gesungen wird, wie bereits erwähnt, in Deutsch, von Jemima und Peter Randl. Der bevorzugt einen eher aggressiven, agitativ-deklamierenden Stil, wie man ihn auch von diversen deutschen Politrockbands Anfang der 1970er kennt. Aufgenommen wurde in den Union Studios in München, wobei der Band ein junger Toningenieur namens Reinhold Mack zur Seite gestanden und für den Mix gesorgt haben soll. Unter dem Kürzel Mack machte dieser ab Mitte der 1970-er Karriere als Soundmixer und Produzent von Größen wie ELO, Sparks, Deep Purple und vor allem Queen.

In April of 2018, Drowse’s Kyle Bates left his home in Portland, OR, for an artist residency in barren northern Iceland. Much of Bates’ time there was spent in self-imposed isolation, giving him ample space to ponder the nature of solitude, and what it means to be “closed” or “open” to the world. Upon returning home, Bates worked obsessively. Maya Stoner, his longtime creative partner, sometimes came to sing, but recordings were mostly done alone. The dichotomy of his Icelandic musings materialized in a very real way as he neglected his personal relationships in favor of his art. While he was confronting his life-long fear of intimacy, and reconciling himself to a diagnosis of Bipolar 1, Bates found that the means he employed to conquer these obstacles—self reflection through art—carried with them an equal measure of misery. Light Mirror, Drowse’s second album for The Flenser, is a subtle exploration of these contradictory attitudes and their consequences that can be heard as an artifact of sonic self-sabotage.

Light Mirror falls within a lineage of overcast Pacific Northwest albums (think Grouper’s Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill), but finds Drowse pushing past its slowcore roots. The album’s prismatic sound reflects experimental electronic, noise pop, black metal, krautrock, and more through Kyle’s distinct song-worlds. The lyrics are ruminations on the idea of multiple-selves, identity, paranoia, fear of the body, alcohol abuse, social media, the power of memory, the truths that are revealed when one is alone, and the significance of human contact. They were influenced by filmmaker Andrei Tarkovsky and poet Louise Glück, who both address self-contradiction. Mastered by Nicholas Wilbur (Mount Eerie, Planning for Burial) at the Unknown, the album showcases a striking maturation in sound. Light Mirror is Drowse’s most intimate and desolate work to date.

ELECTRIC CHAIRS - So Many Ways

First ever reissue of this sought-after punk-funk / no wave / electro post-punk 45 from 1979 by post-Wayne County ELECTRIC CHAIRS, produced by DAVID CUNNINGHAM (FLYING LIZARDS).

Expanded to 12” including hot edits / reworks by GARETH GODDARD aka CHERRYSTONES.

In 1979, Wayne County & The Electric Chairs – the legendary punk-rock band - recorded their third album, Things Your Mother Never Told You, in London. It was produced by David Cunningham of the Flying Lizards, famous also for his work with This Heat, Michael Nyman, etc. He also played synthesizer on some of the tracks. Often compared to Bowie’s Low and Iggy Pop’s Lust For Life, the album combined the no-frills punk-rock sound of the band with the experimental production of Cunningham, showing his love for dub music and cut'n'paste / electronica. After a tour promoting the album, vocalist Wayne County along with guitar player Eliot Michaels departed the band and returned to New York, where County later emerged as Jayne County.

The remaining Electric Chairs members - Val Haller, JJ Johnson and Henry Padovani (ex-Police!) - decided to continue under the Electric Chairs name. Their record label gave them just a month to find a replacement singer and write material for an album. After rehearsing with a few singers, none of which were suitable, the trio decided to go into the studio and record some tracks with Cunningham as producer. The result was the "So Many Ways" / "J'Attends Les Marines" 45, released in November 1979 by Safari Records. Here, Cunningham applied his most experimental production techniques, using electronic treatments on drums, rhythms and vocals.

"So Many Ways", featuring Val on lead vocals, was far from anything else the band had previously done: an hypnotic punk-funk / no wave / synthetic pop hybrid that still sounds years ahead of its time. In 2013, it was included on the compilation "Under The Influence" by famous DJ James Glass.

"J'Attends Les Marines" was a rework of "Waiting For The Marines" from the Things Your Mother album but adding a cool dub / experimental touch.

Here's the first ever vinyl reissue of this sought after punk-funk / no wave 45, featuring the original artwork but expanded to 12" format for maximum sound quality and including two exclusive edits / reworks by Electric Chairs fan and mix/edit wizard GARETH GODDARD aka CHERRYSTONES.

30 Jahre nach der Veröffentlichung des selbstbetiteln Debütalbums erscheint "Electric Orange" nun endlich auch auf Vinyl gepresst. Die Doppel LP kommt auf 180g schwerem, orange-marbled Vinyl und im Gatefold-Sleeve daher. Dirk Jan Müller interessiert sich seit 1988 für die deutsche Underground-Musik der 70er Jahre, und seine Leidenschaft für Bands wie Amon Düül, Tangerine Dream, Nektar, Neu! und Can führte dazu, dass er Synthesizer, Keyboards, Verstärker und verschiedene Musikgeräte aus den 70er Jahren sammelte. Von seinem Heimstudio aus veröffentlichte er einige Underground-Kassetten mit elektronischer Musik, die im Kassettennetzwerk zu kursieren begannen ("Octopus's Garden" und "Time Signals"), bis 1992 eine britische Firma namens Electronic Dreams "Time Signals" veröffentlichte. In der Zwischenzeit begann Dirk mit der Arbeit am Debütalbum "Electric Orange", zu dem er eine Reihe anderer Musiker und eine Fülle von Instrumenten wie Hammondorgel, Saxophon, Flöte, verschiedene Schlaginstrumente, Samples und E-Gitarren hinzuzog. Im März 1994 veröffentlichte das deutsche Underground-Elektronik-Label "Manikin" das Album auf CD. Es hieß schlicht "Electric Orange" und war eine atemberaubende Mischung aus Krautrock der frühen 70er Jahre und psychedelischem Space Rock, aber mit einem völlig modernen Sound, der das Genre mit neuen Technologien und Produktionswerten aktualisierte. Das Album wurde schnell zu einer begehrten Veröffentlichung, allerdings haperte es am Vertrieb und schien somit zum Kultstatus verdammt zu sein, bis Delerium Records es entdeckte und die Rechte erwarb. Auch 30 später fasziniert der Electric Orange-Sound noch immer und es war überfällig, dieses Juwel endlich auch auf Vinyl zu veröffentlichen.

Obwohl es sich bzgl. seiner musikalischen Elemente bestens in die Trilogie integriert, ließ es bei seiner Entstehung offensichtlich doch viel Spielraum für künstlerische Momente, die man nicht erwartet, aber die sich außerordentlich prägend für das Album auswirken, welches wieder einmal einzigartig ist.

This is the exoteric definition. But there is also an esoteric one which carries all the meaning of the symbol.


We are psychologically programmed to look for symmetry, to recognize harmonious forms in our environment. Mandalas comfort us. They give us a sense of wholeness. Even our own design as human beings is symmetrical. On the other hand, the deliberate search for non-symmetrical forms is the quest for heterodoxy, for the separation from the natural order to walk owns path, the way of the dissident. It means to inhabit a subjective universe whose laws do not emanate from an external command, natural or divine. It is, truly, the Will to be the Other.

In this sense this is a trapezoidal record. A deliberate act of magic. The music follows its own rules. There is a lot of crosslinked percussion, ethnic elements amputated from the tradition they were created for, synths which are not synths, trumpets that are really guitars, apparent confusion. Nothing is casual, everything has a purpose. Each track of every song is a necessary element of the ritual. And, as any ritual which expect to be effective, it's a subjective act that has to transform the practitioner first. And then, permeate the psyche of the listener and expand through the cosmos.

This, the first ever reissue, includes the four tracks from the original acetate (taken from the master tape) plus two bonus tracks taken from lo-fi, crude rehearsals: “1000 Miles” (A Grit original) and a killer demo version of “Mineshaft”.

Born from the ashes of a London band called Merlyn, Grit consisted of Frank Martinez (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Christodoulou (bass/vocals), Tom Kelly (drums, vocals) and Jeff Ball (vocalist).

Frank, nicknamed “Spider”, has an interesting story: at the beginning of his musical career he auditioned for Joe Meek at his Holloway Road studio. Later, he also played with a band called Grand Union - who supported Pink Floyd in 1968 - and with members of the John Dummer Band. An electronic wizard, Frank also worked building amps and electronic equipment at Nolan Amps, MIDAS, etc. He built the Twin Stacks and PA’s that later would form part of Grit's equipment.

Tom Kelly came from a band called Connexion and Paul Christodoulou had played in Merlyn along with Frank. After some attempts, the definitive line-up of Grit was born when Frank and Paul convinced drummer Tom Kelly to join them, after assisting to a Nazareth concert. They also recruited powerful singer Jeff Ball after an ad in Melody Maker.

On Christmas Eve, 1972, Grit recorded a demo at SWM Studios and two copies of a one-sided 12” acetate were pressed for promo purposes. It featured four self penned songs: the killer “Mineshaft” (pure underground fuzz hard-rock) and two lengthy numbers: “Child and The Drifter” (with some furious drumming, stunning leads and hard-prog moves) and the hard-psychedelic “What Do You See In My Eyes” / “I Wish I Was”.

Armed with the acetates, the band visited some music agents in London but nobody was interested. But while looking for a manager, they found a company who secured them a Greek tour. This was a true adventure and they managed to appear on television and play with big names from the Greek psych-prog scene like Socrates and Peloma Mpoklou in big festivals. Sadly, due to a family problem, Frank had to leave the band and return to England. That was the end for Grit.

40 years later, one of the two copies of the original Grit acetate was found at a flea market in Germany, which led to its inclusion in the 7001 Record Collector Dreams book by famous collector Hans Pokora. The band still remained a mystery until 2019, when, by pure chance, Alex Carretero from Guerssen found Frank Martinez and he opened his vault, which included the original master tape of the Grit acetate and several tapes with rehearsals from Grit and Merlyn.

So, we’re proud to present the first ever vinyl release of one the rarest artifacts from the UK 60s-70s underground scene, including an insert with rare photos / memorabilia and detailed liner notes.

Coming out of London and the South West of England, Hey Colossus are one of Europe's great live bands. Since 2003 the 6-piece has been driving around the continent with their “pirate ship” backline of broken amps and triple-guitar drang, elevating audiences in every type of venue imaginable; a doctor’s waiting room in Salford, an industrial unit in Liege and a vast field next to a river in Portugal. Four Bibles is their twelfth studio album and the first to be released by London label ALTER, whose sole proprietor (the electronic producer Helm) encountered the group at their first gig in 2003. Recorded by Ben Turner at Space Wolf Studios in Somerset, it's their most direct album yet and follows a well-documented trajectory of evolution that began (in the truest sense) with 2011’s RRR for Riot Season and continued across three albums for Rocket Recordings. Lead vocalist Paul Sykes sounds more in focus than before, dialling down the effects and using reverb / delay to carry his lyrics rather than smother. The band has also fine-tuned to leave some room for extra depth. Piano, electronics and violin (by Daniel O'Sullivan of This is not This Heat / Grumbling Fur) all find a way in amongst a familiar mesh of interlacing guitars, wrapped round a taut rhythm section. Like every other Hey Colossus record before, the line-up has altered and the sounds reflect this.

From the weight of “Memory Gore”, to the subtlety and swag of “It's a Low”, via the sonic extremes of “Palm Hex/Arndale Chins” this is exactly as the band are live; raging & rail-roading but somehow in control. Grooves for those who want to dance or for those who want to hug a wall and nod...bleak dystopian imagery submerged in relentless rhythms and low-end rattle. Ike Yard - Night After Night

New York no-wavers Ike Yard are perhaps best known for being the first American band signed to Factory Records, and it isn't difficult to hear why: the group's music has much in common with the existential frigidness of Joy Division and early New Order as well as the mutant noise-funk of Section 25 and A Certain Ratio. That said, the sound of Night After Night, the band's debut EP, is one that could only have emerged from the lawless dystopia of '70s New York City.

Vocalist/percussionist Stuart Argabright, guitarist Michael Diekmann, vocalist/bassist Kenny Compton and synth player Fred Szymanski traffic in a particularly foreboding rhythmic tension, creating in the process an unlikely amalgam of minimal wave, industrial and post-punk.

Recorded shortly after forming in 1980 and originally released on seminal Brussels imprint Les Disques Du Crépuscule, Night After Night suggests an alternate history in which Tobe Hooper and Jah Wobble provided the soundtrack to The Warriors. The atmosphere throughout is thick. Every cymbal is dubbed-out and spacey; every vocal utterance treated, alien and detached.

Fans of Chrome's damaged ice machine-guitar or Suicide's menacing, anything-can-happen m.o. will rejoice in the siren-sounds, metal clanging and metronomic death-pulse of "Sense of Male," while “Infra-ton" evokes the cacophonous rattle of gates being pulled down over bodega storefronts and the screech of subway brakes. Side two kicks off with "Motiv's" mechanical dread, and the squelchy din of "Cherish" recasts The Residents as streetwise, urban punks.

Night After Night remains primal evidence of the dank, uncompromising narcotica of Ike Yard's embryonic period.

With The Complex Inbetween Dahm Majuri Cipolla (MONO, Watter) and Reto Ma"der (Sum Of R, Ural Umbo) put a dazzling spin on the timeless music of genre innovators like Can, Faust and Neu!, incorporating noisier and more abrasive elements to create a mental odyssey into the uncanny. Born from the collision of the most unreal moments of Ma"der's free-flowing musical associations with Cipolla's stick-wielding hands, these eight compositions form the duo's own mythical realm after the rhythm has been set. As the cradle of electronic music, krautrock is often viewed by outsiders in terms of the mechanical rather than the human, yet Ma"der and Cipolla manage to uncover a human side that has always been present in the music of their forebears. That driving beat which powers album opener «Come To The Center» was never meant to be called `Motorik', as explains its inventor Klaus Dinger of Neu! in one interview. "It is very much a human beat. I like to call it the endless straight. It's a feeling like a picture." With Cipolla behind the kit the machine becomes human, testifying to the power that rhythm can hold over us as a deeply communal obsession. Like their debut, The Complex Inbetween shows the profound knowledge these two musicians have of their source of inspiration as well as their tremendous skill in applying its principles. With the piece «Night Screaming Moves» JeGong expands their sound with atmospheric drone rock elements. A feedback laden guitar motif surrounds the oscillations of mellotron sounds, behind it pounds a slow motion drum beat that is reminiscent of dragging, shuffling footsteps in the dark of night. John Johanna - Seven Metal Mountains

Seven Metal Mountains is the second album from rural Norfolk (UK) musician John Johanna, a unique artist whose inspiration is drawn from studies in borderless folkways, mystical scripture, psychedelia and gospel blues. The album takes its title from the Ethiopian Church’s Book of Enoch, where seven metal mountains represent the world-empires that have successively oppressed and controlled humankind.

Built on the bones of recent reel to reel tape sessions in his woodland IMZIM studio, Johanna’s signature drum machine, pure guitar tone and polyphonic synth is then worked up alongside producer Capitol K at Total Refreshment Centre. Additional drums by Betamax (The Comet is Coming) and backing vocals by Karina Zakri (Seafoxes). The album’s cover art is from artist Chris Bianchi.

Children of Zion sets the tone with a loose garage production that rides over Dick Dale surf rock drums. Song of the Three tells a legend about the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar. The stately electronica instrumental In the Court of King Solomon evokes a magnificent royal court of the ancient world, and wouldn’t have sounded out of place on a Radiophonic Workshop score.

In Standing at the Gates of Love, John Johanna relates a meditation on the ancient, mystical belief that the gates of Paradise are guarded by an angel with a flaming sword. Deep River is the setting of words from the African-American gospel tradition to an original song by John Johanna. Prodigal Son has a rich vein of retro disco in an Arthur Russell style. Album highlight is the euphoric, mantric proto Krautrock epic Parker Tallis Version, which features rendering of Elizabethan composer Thomas Tallis’s translations of Archbishop Matthew Parker’s sermons. A suitably epic crescendo, before the album title track Seven Metal Mountains brings the album to a close with a blissed out, droning electronica motif. Musically and thematically classics such as Let England Shake by PJ Harvey are certainly reference points, reflected by a certain parochial sentimentality mixed with abstract mysticism, for the production a vein of Cocteau Twins/Jesus and Mary Chain comes to mind with the clattering drum machines and esoteric textures.

Seven Metal Mountains follows from 2018’s mini album ‘I’ll be Ready When the Great Day Comes’.

The wonderfully named Kevin, are a three-piece band formed in Osaka, Japan in 2017. The line up at the time of recording/releasing this debut album ‘Aftermath’ consists of Hayato Izawa (vocal), Yutaro Umemoto (guitar) and Yuichi Umemoto (drums).

The band has been influenced by psychedelic rock, krautrock, folk music and free jazz. But Kevin are less full on psych-rock than some of their Japanese contemporaries (and new label mates) like Acid Mothers Temple, Mainliner, & Hibushibire.

The strong krautrock influence is more prominent in their unique sound. Taking influence from the likes of Can and This Heat

Their sound was initially based on noise music. Nowadays, they are minimizing their equipment and developing their own music with a groovy, delicate and devastating band sound.

In 2019, the band successfully performed their first show abroad, in Taiwan, and with the worldwide release of ‘Aftermath’ now via Riot Season records they intend to travel and play far and wide (when rules allow)

Das Album "La Düsseldorf" ist das Debütalbum der deutschen Krautrock-Band La Düsseldorf. Es wurde im Jahr 1976 veröffentlicht und wurde zu einem kommerziellen Erfolg.

Es gilt als eines der einflussreichsten Alben des Krautrock-Genres und hat zahlreiche Musiker wie Brian Eno beeinflusst. „La Düsseldorf sind definitiv der Soundtrack für die 80er!“

orakelte damals David Bowie. Ihre Kompositionen waren bereits Mitte der 70er Ihrer Zeit voraus und nahmen vieles an Musik und Sound vorweg, was ein paar Jahre später Usus

werden sollte. In Berlin nahmen Bowie & Eno mit „Low“ kurz darauf ihre ganz eigene Version des Krautrock auf, die ohne La Düsseldorfs Erstling nicht denkbar gewesen wäre.



Das Album ist eine Mischung aus experimentellem Rock, elektronischer Musik und psychedelischen Klängen. Die Texte sind größtenteils auf Deutsch und behandeln Themen wie

Liebe, Freiheit und das Leben in der Großstadt. Das Album wurde von Conny Plank produziert, einem bekannten deutschen Musikproduzenten, der auch mit anderen Krautrock-

Bands wie Kraftwerk und Can zusammengearbeitet hat. Neben dem gekonnt ausufernden Titelsong „Düsseldorf“ gilt vor allem das finale Stück „Time“ als Meilenstein.



La Düsseldorf wurde von Klaus Dinger gegründet. Neben Dinger gehörten auch sein Bruder Thomas Dinger und Hans Lampe zur Band, die später mit „Viva“ (1978) und „Individuellos“

(1981) noch zwei weitere kommerziell erfolgreiche Alben veröffentlichte. Dinger gehörte mit Ralf Hütter und Florian Schneider auch zu den ersten Urmitgliedern der elektronischen

Klangpioniere „Kraftwerk“, die er 1971 jedoch bereits nach ein paar Monaten im Streit wieder verließ um gemeinsam mit Michael Rother ihre eigne (legendäre) Krautrock-Band Neu!

Although their sound changed over time, their debut LP (1971) is considered one of the best acid rock albums in Mexico, recorded under the influence of groups like Credence Clearwater Revival or the Who but also adding their own style featuring an original and stunning guitar sound. Sadly, Mexican record labels lost interest in local rock bands due to the repression of La Onda movement by the Mexican Government, resulting in rock bands being banned. This, in addition to internal disagreements between members of the group, eventually led to the end of their relationship with Polydor in 1973. La Revolución de Emiliano Zapata entered a new artistic phase in their career, focusing on ballads and adopting different new musical trends over the years.

La Tène"s long, hypnotic, wordless pieces are built from traditional folk instrumentation, wild percussion and blurred, subtle electronic embellishments, and feel as ancient and earthy as those millennia-old artefacts - with all the metal, wood, dedication, and craftsmanship they entailed. Ecorcha / Taillée, their fourth release and third for Geneva"s Bongo Joe label, is the sound of three musicians playing together as intuitively as if hooked up to a central, pulsating brain.

Altough Livin’ Blues was effectively the best Dutch blues band of the late 60s/early 70s, they could’ve been easily ranked between some of the influential british band of the time. Bamboozle is without doubt their masterpiece. The singer really stands out with his husky voice and the harmonica player is a real lust. Livin Blues boogie is a real classic and easily stands in the shadow of John Mayall's Room to Move.

Lone Bison - Wave Construction LP

Lone Bison / Nick Bonell lives by the sea in Ramsgate. Mainly a guitar player and pedal junky, Nick bought a used Korg MS20 and fell in love with synths. As one half Stuntmen, Nick released the sample-heavy single 'You're the Beat Find' on the very groovy Tummy Touch label, which led to him scoring three Ford adverts in the U.S and a few pieces of well-used production music - which paid for more synths and pedals! An album, 'Transistor Memory' and single 'Drugs' came out via Dom Martin's Polytechnic Youth records in 2021.

Lone Bison's music is influenced by Krautrock, electronica, post-punk, soundtracks and post-rock.

Wave Construction is his first album for Castles in Space. There will be many more.

Maestro - Maestro In The Chamber

“Last summer, Maestro were invited to the Chateau du Fëy in French Burgundy to perform live. Instead of going for their usual power trio formula, they dropped almost all their instruments arsenal, kept one synth, a minimal drum kit and invited a string quartet to create stripped down chamber orchestra versions of their songs. Majeure - Mass Flashback

Reviving the essence of Krautrock and classic horror soundtracks, veteran composer and multi-instrumentalist AE Paterra is back with his latest cinematic full-length as Majeure entitled Mass Flashback out September 27, 2019. Known best as one half of highly influential prog duo Zombi, the Pittsburgh area native has been performing and recording experimental music in a multitude of projects for over two decades. Majeure’s arrangements of analog synthesizers, live drums and delicate sound design sculpt a fantastic array of gripping instrumental music that sparks the imagination. From epic to abstract, Majeure’s waves of triumph and despair are orchestrated to guide Mass Flashback through a compelling journey into the cosmic recesses of the sound library and beyond.

Born and raised in rural Pennsylvania, Paterra learned piano as a child and started playing drums in high school. Naturally gravitating towards the creativity and virtuoso style of 70’s and 80’s prog, metal and classic rock, Paterra excelled at percussion and developed a high level of musicianship by the time he moved to Pittsburgh to attend college. After stints drumming with various collaborative projects and touring bands, Paterra met bass and synth player Steve Moore in 1999 and bonded over their mutual love for Italian horror scores and bands like Goblin. The duo released their first album as Zombi in 2001 and have since become widely regarded as one of the best prog bands of the modern era, organically honing a distinct sound and dedicated fanbase over the course of their lengthy discography. After several successful albums and years of touring with Moore, Paterra established his solo identity as Majeure in 2009 to explore nuanced interests outside of the scope of the band.

Mandrake Handshake - Shake The Hand That Feeds You

Formed in Oxford where they lived, hung out and rehearsed
together on campus, eclectic group Mandrake Handshake
were christened after a song by The Brian Jonestown
Massacre, incorporating their influences of Krautrock, funk,
Japanese animation and Latin pastoral poetry to create a
unique brand of ‘Flowerkraut’ that vividly defines their sound.
 Having initially teamed up with the cult indie label for their
‘Nice Swan Introduces…’ series (in partnership with RIP
Records) late last year, the creative outfit have since found
labelmates in the likes of Courting, SPRINTS and Anorak
Patch, and fast established themselves as one of the most
enticing new acts in the UK psychedelic scene.
 With widespread acclaim arriving via multiple key indie press
titans (NME, NPR, DIY, The Line of Best Fit, Dork, So Young,
Clash, Loud & Quiet, Gigwise), the newcomers certainly
seem to be attracting the right kind of attention following the
release of mesmeric debut effort ‘Mandragora’ and
exhilarating follow-up ‘Gonkulator’, with their first few plays
on BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders) already opening them up
to a vast new audience.
 Detailing their EP, the band explained: “‘Shake the Hand
That Feeds You’ represents the culmination of many strands
of thought over the process of several months. It is designed
to announce the coming of the Mandrake in all her forms and
the ascent into her realm; as it soundtracks the listener
coming to know what will be expected of them for all future
sonic explorations.
 “No expense has been spared to bring the listener to the
zenith of psychedelic high-fidelity and have them fully
understand what they otherwise might only hint at knowing.
This is ‘Flowerkraut’. This is the beginning. This is the
Mandrake.”
