New Berlin based label Dead Sound Records kicks off the first in a series of leftfield house & techno releases.

The first E.P is from Cosmonaut, with the whole E.P fittingly taking influences and inspiration from his native Uruguay whilst still adding his unique flavour to each production. The E.P shows the depth and range of Cosmonaut’s ability as a producer with the A-side featuring two heavyweight 4/4 peaktime tunes. The B-side showcases a deeper side to Cosmonaut’s producing skills but with the dancefloor still very much in mind. TC80 rounds of the E.P with a delicate, emotional interpretation of The Cristal Ensemble Orchestra.

From Another Mind continues to establish itself as a vital contemporary Techno outlet with a fresh release entitled ‘Der Weg Des Kriegers EP’ from label founders SHDW & Obscure Shape.
This German pair hail from Stuttgart and share a unique vision in the studio. They have a no frills,
straight up vibe that results in tracks designed for darkened spaces and serious crowds. As DJs they draw on the old and the new from acid, EBM and rave, and match the energy of their productions in
their sets. After a big 2019 they keep up the pressure here and head into the new year in fine fashion.
First out of the blocks is the brilliant 'Der Weg Des Kriegers' with its hammering, high speed kicks and choppy percussive patterns. A distant, sombre siren draws you ever further in as the track rolls on
relentlessly and grows ever more wild. Endgegner’ is an all-out frazzled techno rave with scraping hits´and distorted kicks driving along and whipping crowds into a frenzy.

Picking up the pace is 'Feuersturm', five minutes of banging techno with arresting synths shooting out of the mix like lasers and sure to get hands in the air. Closing out this high impact trip is 'Hinter Dem
Horizont' which bounces along on tightly programming and slamming drums, with a dancing synth sequence that adds just a little light to the darkness all around

Italian imprint Theory Of Swing following up with the next episode by label captain St. David, providing us, once again a fine dose of club pumping pleasure.

For more than a decade now, Fleck E.S.C. has marked himself out as one of the most playful and prolific producers in the electro game. Across dozens of releases for labels including Bass Agenda and Science Cult, the France-born, Japan-based artist has made his name through a production style which balances limber beats with exploratory textural work.

Fleck E.S.C. debuted on Central Processing Unit in 2018 with the Discrete Opinion EP. Now, after stopping by the Sheffield label last year on a Silicon Scally remix job, Fleck E.S.C. delivers his second EP for CPU in the form of Rough Silk. The record's intriguing title proves an apt introduction to this four-track affair. These cuts are at once sleek and abrasive, anchored by robotechnic machine-funk grooves yet also full of strange, shifting shapes.

The opening title-track expertly sets out Rough Silk's stall. Heralded by gurgling synths and all manner of whirring percussive tones, 'Rough Silk' blossoms around the minute mark with the introduction of a wickedly buoyant lead synth. This is music at once visceral and full of mystery, the sound of wending through the back alleys, and the feeling carries through to the following cut 'Hat in the Cat' - as the synth pads spool out overhead, the machine-funk snap of the beat has an almost aquatic quality that links it back to Drexciya.

Much like 'Rough Silk', the record's first B-side 'Faking Sweet' also shifts gears. The opening strains of the track seem to be preparing for another insistent, expansive broken-beat pulse, but it stiffens its neck around ninety seconds in. Programmed drums whirr around a jittery machine-gun bass while discordant synths pull at the edges of the track, all of which brings a strong dystopian energy that increases further as the percussion sounds become increasingly bug-eyed.

After so much excitement, 'Digger Play' closes out the EP with a softer touch. There's still plenty of low-slung bounce to the beat, but the track runs a little slower, and there's a warm wistfulness in the synths which gives 'Digger Play' a painterly, almost poetic feel. However, while it may take its foot off the gas, the production here is as deft as it is everywhere else on Rough Silk.

With new EP Rough Silk, electro whizz Fleck E.S.C. brings the sort of casual mastery to proceedings that has characterised his career to date.

Undersound marks its 20th release with a collection of tracks from Scatterbaux. While the producer has a few sparse releases online, he displays considerable dexterity on these hardware jams. The A-side heavily features the classic 303 synth and opens with “Ghosts On The Wing”, where the artist is experimenting with an 8 bar acid pattern overlayed with dreamy leads and pads. This is followed by “Acid Squabble”, where two 303 lines bounce off each other exchanging their filter positions conveying a range of feelings and emotions. The B-side follows with “Chamber 27”, an electro jam with 808 drums and a driving 101 bassline. The EP closes with the fast paced “Womp Bucket”, with its evolving drum patterns and emotional overtones, completing a showcase of the producer's signature acid tinged style.

Fans of UK Techno and Electronic music should need little introduction to Steven Rutter.

Widely regarded as one of the originators who helped spawn an entire scene in the early 90s, there’s no mistaking his place as one half of the legendary Warp Records act B12. Or that of his other guises such as 2001, Cmetric, Infamix, Musicology and Redcell, which all made up part of the rich tapestry of the hugely influential B12 Recordings.

In 2016, Steven started a whole new chapter by launching Firescope Records. Over the past few years, the label has gone from strength to strength - releasing music from the likes of Morphology, Derek Carr, John Shima, Russ Gabriel, Darren Nye as well as plenty of new material by Steve himself.

‘Light From The Dark’ EP is a two sided Limited Edition 7” that captures Rutter’s innate ability to knit deeply spatial sonic tapestries. Side A track ‘In The Darkness’ delves into the depths of semi-consciousness and all that we can feel in the half lit hours. Like an impression taken from a half woke sleepy state, he moulds cyclical low end rumbling with fluid rhythmical pulses that in turn give way to brief moments of light and melody. Mirroring the moments we pass in and out of consciousness.

Accompanied by the “The Sands of Time” on Side B, the music takes a gentler path as Rutter leans towards the light, soft rhythms swaying among delicate FM pulsations and patches of airy melody. The warm aesthetics furrow straight from his soul and leave you in doubt that more than two decades on, Rutter continues to be a musical inspiration to generations of Electronic music lovers across the globe.

Heckmann has utilised 30 years worth of acquired knowledge to create a hard-hitting album which bears all the grit he is known for - harmonising analogue and digital wares to create an utterly immersive 14 track album.

For the third installment of Token's Fuga compilations, the label invites another list of 9 cutting edge artists to put their skills to the test. Ignez, Emily Jeanne, Altinbas & Cirkle, Alarico, Dustmite, Yant, Marcal, and Decka all offer their unique vision of contemporary club music for a collection of tunneling and intelligent cuts.

Introducing the compilation, Ignez warms us up with the appropriately-named 'Celestial' - a 6 minute argument between melody and dissonance over a thick percussive line. Emily Jeanne then continues with 'Red River Delta' to lift some of the weight with a dissociative mind-bender. The crisp sound design and wide stereo image allow for an exhale before Altinbas and Cirkle introduce their collaboration 'Uhlanga'. With our focus back on the body, the duo turn up the pace and prioritize groove. With rhythm at the forefront, depth is given to the track in the ambience, creating a rainforest-like atmosphere with resonant stabs streaking over the tighter low-end. Alarico then picks things up by taking advantage of this crescendo to present the energetic climax of the compilation with 'Spit'. Hypnotism becomes almost paranoia with vocal cuts camouflaging themselves in the pulse of the track that only releases us with the occasional fleeting arpeggio. Walls rise and we're in concrete for Dustmite's 'Filaments and Jaws', which wastes no time in introducing itself with clear intentions and an imposing, low hi hat. He then lifts the record with a hovering main synth that drifts the experience back into a nervosity that complements the preceding track. It's Yant's turn to guide us with 'Take the Reins' - an almost nostalgic record with infectious chord stabs over a pounding 909, before leaving us with Marcal. 'Dancing Pursuit' is offered to the listener as another dance floor weapon with a density in its percussion and ambience that's balanced by the sequence of the lead synth and creates a lot of energy. Decka then takes control with 'Fracture' with a brutally saturated kick over whipping two-bar synth loops to close out the compilation with a head-spinner.

Space… The final wasteland for the rich and entitled. A playground for the opulent. A fantasy for the 99.9 percent. A constant source of inspiration for artists. Artists like AZO.

Making her debut on Biologic Records, complete with a remix from Steffi, here we find the talented Belgian artist strapping up her rocket boosters for a four-track trip into infinity. It takes in influences from dark matter to Detroit, black holes to Brussels.

‘Aurora Space Station’ is a beautiful rave-inspired breakbeat floatation piece that sets the scene, poking fun at the mega-rich who can afford to seriously entertain the idea of leaving this planet for dust. More thrust is added by the deep space electro of Steffi’s thumping remix. Both have more power than all the fossil fuel Bezos and Branson have burnt in the last 10 years.

Deeper into the cosmos we probe…. ‘Neptunian Sea’ takes off from Chicago, fuelled on an intoxicating combo of acid and Italo. ‘Love Bus’ brings the anti-gravity heat with a heavy, hip-writhing nod to the jazz spirit of UR’s Galaxy 2 Galaxy movements.

We might not be able to afford a holiday in space, but we can afford great art like this. The dancefloor has always been the most effective place for teleportation. Ready for take off?

Denise Rabe is back on her own imprint with its specific and unique gloomy witchy techno sound. Entering spheres of the unknown with a marvelous vocal chant on the A-side together with a fantastic built electro remix by Vil.

The B-side drives you one step further with an energetic and loopy track Icaro and a conspicuous deep hypnotic remix from Mary Yuzovskaya.

As always it is important to mention the exclusive hand screen printed sleeves and inserts by Rabe - this time in sumptuous gold ink on thick black card stock. Paired with the vinyl disc pressed in deep "Dracula red" makes this release a dark, elegant and exquisite package to add to your collection.

With his album "Obi Thine Xi" due in late summer 2021, Rico Puestel delivers an early and tasteful tempting with the pre-single "LAPS" joined by three absolutely sharp remixes on 180 grams heavyweight and plain white vinyl, figuratively representing the untouched canvas.

With the aspiration of creating a diverse spectrum of prime Techno music currents, the original album track "LAPS", a well-proven yet augmented Puestel'ish stomper of 10 Minutes that prompts reminiscences to his latest EPs on Cocoon Recordings, is given further touches by scene freshman "BOWMN" from the UK, the indubitable Dutch legend "Secret Cinema" and the unique German sound aesthete, overall creative mind, painter and winemaker "Florian Hollerith" from the beautiful Palatinate.

Following the pre-album presentation of "LAPS", BOWMN dives into the realms of pure melodic Techno bliss with a genuine nostalgic yet onward feeling which experiences a sophisticated definition throughout his massive interpretation. If there's one way to know if you're in the good old days before you've actually left them - this is it!

On the flip-side, the one, the only and the legendary Secret Cinema constructs a well-driven and tight top class production work with his groovy expanded remix work of LAPS that might come along as some track that gives you some kind of timeless attitude.

Closing the "LAPS" journey, Florian Hollerith serves up a highly elaborated next level remix that already defines a future of Techno music that might hasn't come yet while perfectly balancing unearthed highs with some deeply grounded depths of electronic music creation.

Winter 2015 is here and Drumcode continues to release the hottest new tracks that make waves within the techno community. Releasing tracks from artists such as Adam Beyer, Alan Fitzpatrick, Joseph Capriati, Maceo Plex, Luigi Madonna, Ida Engberg, Joel Mull, Sam Paganini, Harvey McKay and dubspeeka.
Moving into the latter stage of 2015, Drumcode are keeping up the refined techno that they have displayed and are making sure that they continue to keep up this form throughout heading into 2016. Steve Rachmad is a name familiar to everyone within the electronic music scene. He has been a big part of the scene for over two decades and boasts a whole host of records and shows.
He has been remixed by the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Joris Voorn and more. Rachmad is now hosting his own Studio 80 based club night Kis where he plays mesmerising extended sets. Steve Rachmad is welcomed to the vinyl-only offshoot Drumcode Limited. Disturbance is a punchy little number that has a stuttering synth that rises over the top of the pounding kick drum. Steps takes it up a notch with a simplistic bleep pattern that modulates throughout that is awash with a throbbing undercurrent.

Italian producers Teslasonic and Composite Profuse (aka. Heinrich Dressel) touch down on Berlin's Mechatronica with a powerful and spacious electro record, splitting each side of the EP and remixing one another to full effect.

Tweaking his signature sound into a dark and heavy blend of half-time UK bass, rugged electro dips and magnetic breakbeat styles, Gamma Intel effortlessly explores fresh subsurface territory and morphs the collective sonic awareness towards new fluid illusions

Already an accomplished composer and producer, crafting music and soundscapes for film and television, Gensi AKA András Genser deploys a trio of smooth and inspiriting cuts on the ‘Primavera 707’ EP. The title track gets the remix rub from British brothers Decius.

‘Primavera 707’ is tinged with a gloss and sheen, and a pop edge, that stays on the right side of classy. Heavenly melodies skit around an effervescent vocal, as Gensi distributes bubbly acid lines and expansive synths that elegantly crescendo.

Decius stamp their rugged sound onto the remix of ‘Primavera 707’, having impressed via releases on their own Decius Trax imprint. Chugging drums and bags of mechanical funk are plugged into this re-rub, as the vocal gets pulverized, and a dark & sleazy tone is forged.

Further explorations into acid are mined on ‘Humble Brush’, as the wiggly worm forages around energizing chords and weighty drums, whilst ‘The Great Body Buzz’ glides across the cosmos with booming 808 beats and intergalactic electronics.

FOLD Records' second release is courtesy of everyone's favourite devilish duo, Mercury 200. Full of fast and filthy grooves, "Schnell und Verruckt" has been cooked up for their London crew and is guaranteed to make you sweat.

The release features three explosive original tracks by Mercury 200 and a riotous Myler remix, delivering that raw FOLD dancefloor energy.

Featuring original, full colour cover art by designer Lion Sauterleute & uno.tisto and pressed upon coloured neon wax, the release lands (TBC).

See Through finds the Portland, Oregon musician and field recordist continuing to develop her signature style of ambient, balancing radiant soundscaping with a carefully expressive sensibility. But the new album is also marked by an important difference. Where I'll Look for You in Others was largely written in response to the death of a loved one, See-Through represents a kind of rebirth.

On a remix front, Cocktail D'Amore's head honchos Discodromo strip Voranto Bros down to bear bones to deliver EBM style dance floor burner. And Harold Boué aka Abstraxion aka Lion's Drums of Biologic Records fame delivers menacing remix for Hope They Won't Come Back, a dark & mystic journey, which unwinds slowly and builds up to unexpected climax.

Fantasy Life boss Alinka readies ‘Universal Motion EP’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids this June.

Previously appearing on the likes of Permanent Vacation, Classic, NeedWant and Crosstown Rebels, the Ukraine-born, Chicago-raised and Berlin-based Alinka treats Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint to her ‘Universal Motion EP’, delivering four party-starters for her first release on the label.

A1’s ‘Universal Motion’, a driving synth-led number, strongly sets the tone by bringing thick Italo inspired leads and warping synths together to maximum effect. Moving into the second track, the bouncing ‘Emotion 2 Emotion’ intertwines floating pads and loose, bounding drums for a fun and highly playable track.

On the flip, ‘Round Round’ is a funky yet stripped-back affair, utilising raucous percussion, well placed vocal hits and pulsating basslines to create an irresistible groove. Taking the final spot on the 12”, ‘Reality Love’ sees Alinka draw for stuttering bass, classic samples and dense synths for an excellent closer to the EP.

Alinka’s rep as a DJ and producer has continued apace in the past few years with some of her biggest fans being the most notable names in the world of house, disco and techno and ‘Universal Motion’ shows her at her best.

To 'repeat' is to do something again. That's exactly what happened on this record. A well known, yet anonymous artist from Rotterdam delivers yet again four raw and repetitive techno cuts.

Crossing over to Adelaide, odd wave minor players The Frenzied Bricks completely bypassed the history books with indifference. This madcap union of school friends Chris Merchant and David McCarthy cut void-entering motorik and weirdo monologues in bedrooms and suburban rehearsal studios. Rumoured to be an individual, they never bothered to disprove the gossip with live perfor-mance. They did however submit aspiring demos to community radio station 5MMM, where they were fortuitously stored for four decades.

The 7” marks the non-band’s debut release, combining two should-be classics from the vault. ‘(Can I) Bridge The Gap’ apathetically tunnels with Neu! Order energy, dual bass and McCarthy’s laconic vocal delivery, while their only instrumental ‘Entropy’ calls in guitarist and unofficial Brick Dave Warren to send the TR-808 into the stratosphere. Unknown until now, this is down under synth-wave at it’s fin-est.

A little more than 2 years ago, labelhead honchos Paul & Dave released their "Nobody is Anywhere EP" on their own imprint Dynamic Reflection. It was a statement about the status quo in the techno scene back then, where many artists didn't know which way to go. Ironically enough, the contrary is very true as we speak.

The "Anybody is Nowhere EP" responds to their previous work and reflects the uncomfortable time we are currently living in, driven by uncertainty. Even though these are not the happiest thoughts, the track titles show that there is hope left. "Emergence" is a very seductive but psychedelic trip towards "Discharge", which feels like Abstract Division discharges themselves completely. The last track, "Polarise" points out the current divided society, which sets some doubtful thoughts about the future.

Scandinavian rebel and Northern Electronics patron Anthony Linell provides his interpretation of the track "Emergence" and delivers a distinctive remix as only he can.

Halocyan plunge deeper into their 'Originary Technicity' series which has already featured an EP by Hackman backed up by remixers including Timo Maas and KiNK. For their latest offering, the L.A coterie have enlisted the talents of the legendary German duo Extrawelt backed up by championed master of machines Ulrich Schnauss.Having released several EPs through Cocoon as well as 12"s on James Holden's Border Community, Kompass Musik and Traum Schallplatten, Extrawelt have evinced infallible consistency across their back catalogue and have long been regarded an eminent and influential force in the world of experimental Techno.Their contribution to the Originary Technicity series comes in the form of two excursive pieces beginning with 'Breaking Bricks' which sets jutting percussive knocks under a sheet of shimmering hats and pellucid clicks and shuffles. A thick and purposeful bass patterns drives through the mix and propels progress towards a shift into a patch of interwoven melodies that render the sort of saccharine dystopia that fans of Extrawelt will be familiar with.
'Splendid Nausea' then blooms behind nifty sound design and gently flexing pads before a persistent pulse emerges and sets things flickering out of focus. A seasick bass line emerges pushing a dark, plodding mood along until the close before Domino and Pedigree Cuts contributor, Ulrich Schnauss then steps in to bolster the package with his own spectral take on Breaking Bricks. Steadily building a wall of undulating pads propelled by frazzled circuit signals, Schnauss rounds off another addition to the Originary Technicity series which comes as yet another rich and cohesive package from the ever-reliable Halocyan."
