Assemble Music returns in 2021 with its 25th release: a 5-track heavyweight compilation featuring a handful of the finest electronic acts in Portugal and two well sought after internationals.
Population One a.k.a. Terrence Dixon, having released in iconic labels such as Metroplex, Tresor, Rush Hour and Jeff Mills’ imprint Axis in the last decades, kicks off this record with ‘Unfolding’ some Detroit Techno cargo (A1), followed by a hypnotizing, spiraling acidic Techno bomb - ‘Acid Grind’ (A2) - courtesy of the Algarve duo Roundhouse Kick. Prolific Portuguese DJ and producer, formerly based in The Netherlands, Lake Haze finishes off this first side with the Electro infused, twisted ‘Acid Warfare’ (A3).
Over to the B side, Roma Zuckerman, originally from Siberia and also releasing a double LP on Nina Kraviz’s трип this year, pulls off a classic fast-paced Acid groove on ‘We Call Its Acidomine’ (B1), while the Lisbon duo 2Jack4U takes us to a dream party land with the anthem ‘Acid 00010’ (B2)
Surely a must-have tool for an upcoming post-pandemic rave!

Secession Imprint Premiers With Superbly Crafted And Signature Sounding Techno Cuts From The Label Owner Himself, Volster, Followed By Remixes From Swedish Master Of Contemporary Techno Anthony Linell And Talented Berlin Based Duo Cassegrain.

Wonderfully wayward electronic vectors from Dorchester's Yaaard, aka Chris Catlin, overseer of sleeping giant Reckno Records. How to Download a Glass of Water compiles work spanning the breadth of Yaaard's conscious output - from gorgeously folding magma through to serrated dancehall and icy r'n'b introspection. This LP contains two previously unreleased tracks: the lo-fi slow-burner "Forses", and "What Now", a soaring outsider pop duet with Teresa Winter (The Death of Rave).

How to Download a Glass of Water will be pressed to a limited run of 300 records, with artwork by Paul Greenan and Chris Catlin. A giant A0 print of Paul's cover art will also be available. Out May 31.

After more than a decade of deep, expansive productions on labels such as Detroit Underground and CPU, Annie Hall arrives on MUSAR for a record typically rich in texture and understated grooves.

Opening track 'Linium' immediately seduces listeners with a complex drum pattern that somehow feels spacious, subtly twisting and turning its way around Hall's analogue world. Dutch artist Mattheis maintains this understated feel but adds a soft, compelling kick in response on his suspenseful remix of 'Lavandula'. The original, moodier version of this cut the follows to open the B side, gradually erupting around a killer distorted bassline. The EP continues to hit a more urgent note with the tense machinations of 'Silene', where dense layers of stuttering, frenetic drums interweave with Hall's trademark, melancholy keys. The record concludes on a weightless, transcendent note with 'Santolina', taking each visceral element featured thus far and slowing each down, with affecting results.

Indebted to vintage electro and IDM, Hall's music is no throwback, always looking forward and moving dancefloors in the most unexpected ways.

Colin Chiddle’s Art of Dark releases its 10th The End by Central Intelligence

After staying cooped up indoors for ages, everyone is about to burst with excitement. The new EP, “Enthusiasm”, from Claude VonStroke and Walker & Royce is a primal celebration of life and the return of the rave.

As the first collaboration from the superstar trio of Claude, Sam and Gavin, the EP kicks off with “Enthusiasm”, a perfect mix of pristine production, one-of-a-kind sound design and orgasmic screams from the soul.

Curtis Electronix follows up on CEM3340 - Suburbs Disorder LP with a master from the Motor City. Dj Nasty aka Detroit's Filthiest is one of the original creators of the Ghettotech sound in the early 90's. 4 tracks made of dirty bass, soulful strings and hi speed 808 patterns. If you don't know what ghetto style is by now, he will break it down for you.

New collaboratory release by Vilde Tuv and Dj Ibon on their respective labels Kengu and Poesy. Tuv and Ibon, known individually for holding the power over true melancholic ecstasy are joining forces on this three track hard trance EP. Filled with big kicks, vocal synths, nagging sirens and even some whispered-word poetry, this music meets you where you want to be, that is if you want to be on the emotional banger dance floor of your dreams.

Long out of press, Helium’s seminal 1993 masterpiece ’The Works’ E.P. eventually sees the light of day again on Kalahari Oyster Cult. A head-turning slab of visionary house and trance music, ’The Works’ hasn’t aged one bit and its dancefloor appeal sure hasn’t lost any of its high-impact melodic beauty. Driven by the subs-towed harmonics of the wistful ‘Out There’ and fun-loving cowbell rides meet gut-churning 909 kicks of ’Try Me’.

An off-kilter ambientoid trip, B-side opener ‘Clouds’ draws closer to The KLF’s chromatic blends, whereas ‘We Are The Future’ expands the scope to further utopian apexes with its soothing assortment of nu-agey panpipes and slo, Sino-flavoured chug. Rounding off that mini-odyssey, breaky pastoral closer ‘What Is The Human Machine’ takes us on a trip-hop-informed, acid-friendly ride in the wild.

After having released an initial set of smoked-out grooves, Agonis shifts focus towards the nerve tingling aspects of his craft. On "Neutropia", Agonis' first full-length effort, the artist devotes his attention to the outer rim, shedding all earthbound notions in the process. Project. Drawing inspiration from various trips through
Finland’s Lapland region, as well as proximity to Sweden’s
Space Centre, Laponia Space Project perfectly represents the
expansive, awe-inspiring nature of its surrounds. Inter Gritty
has presented himself in a different light to the majority of his
catalogue, drawing on nimble, organic sounds in combination
with a lively rhythm section to embody Laponia Space
Project’s mood. With a classic 4-track E.P. format, each work
evokes a real sense of wonderment, as tracks like Sleepy Tree
and Cassiope integrate twinkling, hollow, and delicate
elements. Basslines bound up mountain ranges, synth pulses
reverberate through the treetops, and groovy percussion

TR303 is a clear homage to the machine and the movement
that have shaped modern-day electronic music. And while it

A1. Marco Effe - Sonorgram

Marco Effe has a vast history, diversity and pedigree of productions on the likes of Sven Väth's Cocoon, Dubfire's SCI+TEC, Luca Agnelli's Etruria Beat and Planet Rhythm to name only a few. "Sonorgam" is a hypnotic, rolling, analogue jam with an alluring hook and full of masterful suspense ready for the club floor.

A2. Arnaud Le Texier - Corrode

Arnaud Le Texier is known for heading up the highly respected Children of Tomorrow label and his music has also been released on Slam's Soma, Sven Väth's Cocoon and Christian Wünsch's Tsunami Records. "Corrode" wastes no time driving it's droning, stabbing synth into the airwaves complemented by chopping hi-hats that create a raw, sonic intensity delivered with power and precision.

B1. William Arist - Cyanophyta

William Arist is an established artist from Uruguay with over 100 tracks released across vinyl and digital formats using a multitude of monikers. His productions have caught the ear of heads such as Ben Sims and his quality can be heard instantly. "Cyanophyta" is a moody and twisted techno beast that uses engaging, esoteric and looping tones to capture the imagination with a powerful style bursting with energy.

B2. Qphoriq - Statique

Russian talent Leo Vasilets aka Qphoriq makes his debut on DEAD CERT. in distinguished style here. "Statique" is a thumping and euphoric effort using dreamy chords and distinctive drum rolls to create a compelling tapestry of sound design with emotional connection that excites and satisfies with its depth and character.

Ghost in the Machine is back to serve up four dark and brooding industrial techno dance floor destroyers that are guaranteed to mess with your sensibilities. This record's got everything: huge intros, huger kickdrums, hugerer breakdowns and cute little hi-hats. It's a winner.

Rogue D & Memoryman AKA Uovo team up for their latest release this September with the Electric Safari EP. The four-tracker marks their collaborative debut on Crosstown Rebels, fresh from Total Black on Rebellion in 2019, and includes two remixes by longstanding German talent, Roman Flügel.

That tribal sound is felt right from the get go, as rustling hats marry up next to whirring synth pulses throughout. Ethereal keys chime beside resonant kicks whilst bell-like tones march on in the background. Roman Flügel’s remix takes on a more minimal-inspired feel, where a punchy underlying bassline perfectly compliments the celestial chord solos, before proceedings get stripped back further on the B Side with a dub version of each track.

Italian-native Rogue D is a well-loved figure in the contemporary house sphere. Renowned as one of half of Flashmob, his back-catalogue boasts EPs on an array of the scene’s leading labels, including Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and Defected to name a few. Fellow Italian-mainstay Memoryman AKA Uovo has garnered a global following in a career that spans decades. One third of the legendary Pastaboys collective, his productions have found a home on Snatch! Records and Rebellion in recent times. Roman Flügel has been a champion of Germany’s electronic music scene since the nineties. A prolific producer, the likes of Gerd Janson’s Running Back and Sven Väth’s Cocoon Recordings have welcomed his releases with open arms over the years.

Distant Worlds returns to the fray for 2021, following the runaway success of last year’s Guidance Release EP from Cignol. Here we see the label reaching the lofty heights of their tenth release with an absolute beauty from Malta-based Sound Synthesis, himself fresh from a mighty fine run of form of late.

Melodic, warm electro with heart tugging melodies and gut punching beats are all present and correct: all but the coldest hearts will be melted by the euphoric chords, attention to detail and keen ear for a melodic hook prevalent throughout this fine release. Energetic yet emotional, Sound Synthesis succeeds here in bringing elements of acidic electro and transcendent soul tinged braindance sensibilities to the pot.

Lead track, ‘Planet Hope’ is a deeply personal journey with a musical message of positivity wrapped up in the utopian optimism of all the finest electronica. ‘Thinking of You’ continues in the same vein, all beautiful atmospheres and melodic flourishes culminating in a masterful soul-tinged breakdown.

Flip over for another assault on the emotional jugular with ‘Transmission of Life’ before rounding off with the acid tinged psychedelic hypnotism of ‘Spiral Reverb’. Distant Worlds does it again with a perfect marriage of retro futuristic techno soul, having found the perfect partner to deliver it in Sound Synthesis

Thomas P. Heckmann's 30th Anniversary Special Edition !

The second part of the EBM Manifest remastered series includes the epic track Himmel & Hoelle that could easily be alled the Amphetamine of EBM-Techno. Originally released in 2001 on Heckmann's now defunct Wavescape label, it already had a huge impact back in the days that still lasts until this very day. Also included are the two Wavescape classics Satan & Deibel and Dunkel and the emotionally driven and sought after Violent Stains. These tunes stood the test of time and are still important and well respected by the contemporary wave of EBM / Techno / Industrial !

!Bang Elektronika started in 1986 as a solo project of Dave Rout to develop his electronic music wanderings. He recorded material off an on but most of his time was spent working on Techniques Berlin, a band which he started with Andreas Gregor in 1985. The first !BE release was the “Audio Beat Warfare” cassette on Bombshelter in 1989. For the second !BE tape, “The Rhythm Screams Electronic”, also released in 1989, Andreas contributed with some vocals. After these releases Dave was moving into more EBM / industrial sounds and wanted some harsh German vocals for the new tracks so he asked Andreas to sing on some of them and join permanently the project. Their first release as a duo was the cassette entitled “Aktivierung!” on Shadow Records in 1991. Next year two tracks from this tape were included on the “Metro Tekno” compilation CD by Silent Records and in 1993 the first full length CD was released on Germany’s Hyperium label. Time after, the project was put on hiatus with just some sporadic releases and a few shows, until 2011 when they did their first and only show in Berlin and release a compilation CD.

This year the band is celebrating their 35th anniversary releasing their dance floor stomper “Aktivierung” for the very first time on vinyl. This release includes, along the original version from 1991 and the b-side “Ich Bin So Ätzend!”, two new killer remixes crafted by Randolph & Mortimer and The Horrorist.

Guided by yet another of La Cheetah Club’s family members, Alfie leads us through the third Outer Zone with four homage laden techno cuts, all obliquely or otherwise brushing past centre-points of styles within the genre. Having proven himself as a producer capable of making serious dancefloor cuts as The Burrell Connection, this new moniker sees the Perth native coagulate sounds usually heard during the energetic moments before the always impending end of the night. Each track stems from influences or creative bursts entirely different from the last, with the EP opening to a lovingly crafted tribute to giants and ending with something drawn from wider sources of inspiration rendered singular. ‘Plastic Entertainment’ is anything but artificial, made with the direct intention of shaking walls and eyeballs.

Can Love Be Synth are in love with old analogue machines and define their specific sound in the legendary Synthesizer Studio Hamburg. A synth collectors paradise hidden behind the big grey walls of a Bunker building and the club Uebel & Gefährlich between the Reeperbahn and Schanzenviertel district in Hamburg, Germany.

Their new song ‘Bunker’ is now available as a digital and vinyl release on A CLEAN CUT including fantastic remixes by Richard Fearless, Terr and quadratschulz.



The Bunker building is currently extended with a 54-meter-high superstructure for an ultra-violent instant gentrification. In the original version of the song the heavy blows of hammers are clearly audible. This sound journey from zen to noise is a beautifully shimmering ‘black hole made from music’, where implosion and explosion energetically meet. If it needed another reason for the clubs to reopen, this song would be the one - it is perfect for long nights and for days without light rays.

CiM returns to Delsin with a nine track LP crafted out of his personal Amiga archives. Simon Walley started off in the early 90s trying to write Amiga demo scene music. Influenced and inspired by the blossoming techno electronica sounds in the UK around that time, he tried to replicate those sounds via old school tracker techniques. Learning through ripping modules by Romeo Knight, Audiomonster, Firefox and Mantronix from demo disks, and writing/re-writing in Protracker resulted in a unique style, creating fresh clashing beats out of tweaked Amiga samples. A 386 PC that drifted in tempo was sync'd by ear to add pads and melodies that the MIDI-less Amiga couldn't generate. Recording most of it on the fly, fooling around in Protracker and leaving all mistakes in and un-edited. All tracks written between '96-98.

Dustin Zahn makes his Blueprint Records debut in September as James Ruskin's label continues to celebrate 25 years at the forefront of Techno.

Since 1998, Dustin Zahn's work has put his career on a steady ascent. Along the way, he has gained years of experience and unrivalled musical diversity as both a producer and performer, earning him respect among techno and house legends, purists, and contemporary DJs. He performs regularly around the world and his DJ sets are much like his releases. "I like it dark enough for the boys, but groovy enough for the girls" says Zahn. With a preference for marathon sets and his laid-back approach to life and music, he seamlessly traverses through various genres to create a unique, hypnotic vibe. As a producer, his releases on labels such as Drumcode, Rekids, and CLR have brought him international success. And his remixes for the likes of Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing, Green Velvet, Dubfire, Nic Fancuilli, Mark Broom, Joel Mull and more have helped catapult him into the collections of DJs everywhere.

Despite his busy release schedule, he still finds time to own and operate Enemy Records, founded in 2004, which focuses on the same late-night hypnotic techno that you'll often find in his DJ sets. Much like his 'Hand Over Control' EP for Blueprint which features four new tracks of deep dance floor techno.

For their upcoming album TRIP (their first trio album since 2017) Elektro Guzzi return to their core competence of creating driving techno on the spot. Through their impulsiv interplay and the heavy use of effect circuits they create an energetic and unique form of dance music. More directly than ever before, all tracks on this album capture Elektro Guzzi's live sound and energy.
TRIP will be the first vinyl release on their very own Palazzo imprint and it will be the purest
Elektro Guzzi record so far.

On A side "Osakacid" comes in two versions : A1 original version is a slow motion acidic tripper under the winter street of Osaka city lights. B1 turns to the pure creative side of Ground. "Stone Bridge" is based on a local bridge that connects to a temple nearby his country side home outside of Osaka. Mystic and minimalistically punchy, this cut digs deep into the soulful side of Ground's ever nomadic approach. B2 comes in a complete shock: Ground's longtime friends in Thailand - Mogambo twists up "Stone Bridge" into a psychedelic, GOA fused floor shaker that takes you to an imaginary zone of raving inside the temple late into early morning.

Featured on the second various out on Kump, Maahrt is back among us. This seventh record is a two-faced coin pierced by a single disturbance. A Strange Wedding re-imagines this bridge as an aerial cyberpunk movie sequence whereas Odopt sharpens its angles.

Michal Jablonski strikes back on Binary Cells. Almost two years have passed since his last appearance and his banging remix of Casual Treatment's - 99 Reasons. This time the Warsaw based producer is back with his unique touch and we gladly present "Higgs", a flawless stomper 12".

A1 "Rain" is the intro track with a cinematic movie thriller approach driving us in a cold an uncertain atmosphere leading to "Higgs", a post-apocalyptic atmosphere gem combining mesmerizing and mechanic cuts clearly designed for dancefloors. The third gem of this side is "Fragile", an obscure story full of dark energies and shrill noises, transporting the audience into an obscure journey.

Sam Goku returns to Atomnation with a stunning debut album titled East Dimensional Riddims. Sam Goku - born Robin Wang - was born in Düsseldorf, yet his upbringing was Chinese for the most part. The record label 'Gladio Operations' launches it's second release onto the market after the recognition of it's debut EP 'Flight to Anywhere', released in June. 'War To The Future' gives its name to the first series of V/A from the label, which includes four electro cuts, exclusively orientated for the dance floor.

The EP opens with a producer from Barcelona Univac, who after releasing Chernobyl tracks on the Dutch label Moustache Records, gifts us with Station Cero, a powerful, devastating track resonating with industrial sounds.

The second track titled Poison, bears the signature of the Ukrainian artist Lectromagnetique, a track loaded with excellent dark and enigmatic sounds. Ancestral Revolt are humans from different continents channeling their ancestors through voltage control and this is their debut EP.

An atmospheric electro mix by legend Mark Ambrose and also an emotional deep-techno take by the duo Sibling.

What started as an underground techno label in the early 90's, Juice Records typified the head in the clouds ambition of the techno generation by both sound and action. Anything was possible and similar minds would be reached through the vinyl medium. By the mid 90's, Juice Records established itself as a southern beacon to the techno and house music movement.

… but many people would have little knowledge of where the label sits in todays music sphere. Juice Records, wether by choice or default have remained free from the uber industry of dance music but continue to represent with our Adelaide based music activities.

What started as casual discussions about Antony's studio activities with label owner, Donato, soon progressed to talk of an album. A couple of years and many iterations would follow till the vision was clear. Juice 020 highlights the musical existence that Antony commits too. It goes beyond the drum machine and synthesiser sounds the label would be known for and embraces a wider spectrum with use of a Yamaha baby grand, Fender Rhodes, Washburn bass and Yamaha Electone E-75.

With a definitive genre hard to pin on the album, Juice 020 remains very much a traditional Juice Record. It is a clear example of what Adelaide happenings have been missed by the global industry while it plays with a techno formula that goes beyond our underground imaginings.

Despite being firmly embedded within the Footwork scene, DJ Manny has yet to receive the kind of attention his peers have. His joyous new album for Planet Mu "Signals In My Head" is set to alter that for good. Manny's sound has widened out and taken on a more romantic edge. He openly admits that his goal for the new album was "to do something that nobody (in Footwork) had ever done before which is an R&B love type of album. I just want people to know it's love out there." Tracks like "U Want It", "Never Was Ah Hoe" and the title cut "Signals In My Head" are strong standouts. DJ Manny has succeeded in moving himself forward. "Signals In My Head" brings us back to the joy of Footwork as a dance, as a mid-west American movement and most importantly as a mental and spiritual boost.

The latest release from Sum Over Histories comes from a new project by label head Frank Beckers and his partner Birgit.

Tension, the first EP from Flageolet, is a 4-track experimental project that combines field recordings and soundscapes with keys, bass, harmonies and percussion. The result is emotive, provoking electronica that’s lightyears away from Frankey’s usual house and techno projects, yet his energy and production style makes his influence
recognisable.

Frankey and Birgit have been collaborating ever since they met in 2001 when Birgit sang vocals on several of Frankey’s tracks, including hugely successful “Switch.” The pair enjoyed collaborating so much that Frankey taught Birgit some basic Ableton skills and gave her a field recorder. Birgit would collect sound-sources, and her and Frankey would select their favorites together. They’d start each track with the most unique sound they could find, which Frankey would build on using keys, synths, percussion and harmonies.

Finnish Inceptum Records returns powerfully with this electro & detroit techno oriented four-tracker from the label boss Forehard.

He says that the hype surrounding this EP 'is something I've never experienced before...and it always get a great reaction'.

On Along Came Polly, Rebuke showcases his innate ability to craft a weirdly, wonderful slice of techno. On the B-side, Rolo is a much housier affair, weaving together a bouncier bassline and sultry vocal stab.

The alias of Reuben Keeney, Rebuke, has only been in business for a short while, but his efforts have already proved to be fruitful. Drumcode mainstay Bart Skils links up with emerging DJ/producer Weska for a maiden collaboration.

The duo first met in 2013 when Bart played Toronto’s iconic Coda, where Weska was a regular.

In friendship and in music, they clicked effortlessly. Since then, the Dutchman has become one of DC’s most vital contributors, releasing a consistent stream of standout productions on the label, highlighted by the now-classic ‘Your Mind’ with Adam Beyer.

Meanwhile the rhythmic power of Weska’s productions caught the ear of Beyer who gave the young Canadian his debut on the imprint with ‘Other Places’ when ‘A-Sides Vol.7’ dropped last summer.

When Weska migrated to Berlin a plan was hatched to collaborate, with the pair swapping ideas back and forth, before linking up in Amsterdam to finish the work.

The propulsive ‘Polarize’ EP is the result, a pair of cuts that have highlighted Beyer’s gigs at Department Festival in Stockholm, Junction 2 and his behemoth B2B with Cirez D at EDC Vegas.

The title cut packs a punch with rugged basslines and pin-sharp percussion, while stabs of melody dip in and out with euphoric effect. ‘Lost On You’ is a heady trip into the abyss with a sinister vocal line and powerful climax.

The hard transitions between tracks give space for gratifying escalations into a range of euphoric textures from melodic, acidic basslines to gleeful synths and thrumming drum patterns.

“The record is a product of all the joyfulness in file sharing and youtube diving I’ve done over the years - the jolly computer face on the front cover shows gratitude to those opportunities, and the EP as a whole is an overall ode to that. The way I produce music is like a stream of consciousness leading me to the composition of the track, not unlike an internet plunge into a youtube rabbit hole through genres and moods. I guess this kind of reflects my temper as well,” says Frits.

It’s this spectrum that makes Big Exchange adaptable, elevating the mood of any kind of space - solo listening, late night parties - all the while invoking a sense of nostalgia and familiarity.

Popmix is the moniker of Copenhagen based producer and sound engineer Frits Carøe, who has also released under the alias Wilberforce on the renowned Norwegian trance label, Ute Klubb. With Big Exchange, Frits adds tangible diversity to his musical catalogue, and proves himself to be a producer grounded in a well-defined style we can continue to expect creative music from.

Frankfurt native Sascha Dive returns to Sven Jaeger’s electronic music powerhouse CUE Music with “Rhythm Mode” EP, bringing forward three fresh cuts, one of which is made in collaboration with Robert Owens. A remix of “Children Of The Light” by the Romanian duo Heerd is also included on the album and today we invite you to enjoy its deep vibes in full-length exclusively on feeder sound. This release will arrive soon on vinyl and it will also be available on several digital platforms later on, adding even more magic to an amazing discography that includes works signed by Artur Nikolaev, GruuvElement’s, Aney F, Dubphone, Christian Burkhardt, CL-ljud, Nektar Agu and Triad, among others.

Sascha Dive has made quite an impression on the international house and techno scenes over the last ten years, always dropping powerful DJ sets and inspiring productions with labels like Bondage Music, Rhythm Cult, Deeperfect Records, Cocoon, Raum…musik, Minimood and his own Deep Vibes Recordings, to name only a few. Strongly influenced by the godfathers of deep house like Moodyman, Chez Damier or Ron Trent and following the first waves of top-notch German house imprints, he has progressed to a serious floor fighter since his first official appearance in 2007.

While the original version of the track is designed with solid microhouse and dub influences, the remix drops the classic 4/4 rhythm and goes full dubwise, introducing a stripped-down sound lead by slow-paced drumming patterns, introspective background textures, warm reverberated effects and eerie vocal samples, perfect for lazy afternoons at a beach party or insightful afterhours anywhere. The other two tracks are equally enjoyable, exploring the empowering sounds of house, deep house and tech-house music while incorporating the artist distinct vision and production skills with style and precision.

Yasuke, eine sechs Episoden umfassende Netflix Anime-Serie des in der Bronx geborenen, in Japan lebenden Animationsfilmers, Produzenten und Regisseurs LeSean Thomas (Cannon Busters, Children of Ether, The Boondocks), erzählt die Geschichte eines Samurai-Kriegers afrikanischer Abstammung in einer fantastischen Version des feudalen Japans in einem alternativen Universum voller Magie, Mechs und natürlich dem Schwertkampf.

Für Flying Lotus war es ein Traumprojekt, er beriet bei der Story und arbeitete neben dem renommierten Anime-Schöpfer Studio MAPPA als ausführender Produzent. Die Fähigkeiten des mit dem Grammy ausgezeichneten Produzenten kommen auf dem Album voll zur Geltung, indem er Synthesizer-Melodien, Basslinien und maschinell generierte Drum-Patterns miteinander vermischt und gleichzeitig neues klangliches Terrain erkundet - traditionelle japanische Perkussionsinstrumente wie die Taiko und die Hyoshigi sowie westafrikanische Perkussion, eine Anspielung auf die afro-japanische, feudale und doch futuristische Welt, in der Yasuke lebt. Coming off a late summer 2020 release on Washington DC’s 1432 R label, Jackson Ryland keeps the momentum flowing with a 4-track self-release 12” entitled Acting Careless. The tracks were recorded between 2018 and spring 2019, intent on embodying a DJ’s record that could be thrown on at different moments and emotions during a set. The freeflowing, laidback and freewheeling feeling behind the house & warehouse party sound of DC inspired the recording process. Borrowing from the past few years’ experience recording at high speeds with the Rush Plus project, Acting Careless continues that same rhythmic intensity with a more uplifting and spiritually cleansing angle. A happy push-pull balance between fierce and sweetness.

Mom’s Spaghetti returns with the second instalment of club tracks for weak knees and sweaty palms! Once again curveball selections are mixed up and served out with a rich spoonful of techno sauce. René Pawlowitz presents himself in many different forms; whether it’s as Head High, EQD, Wax, WK7, The Traveller or more recently as Hoover - he consistently, and without any fuss or hype - produces some of the most effective, quality techno you can find on the planet. The Shed alias is usually reserved for his best work.

With this in mind, it really is a special event to announce this amazing new EP from Shed on Tectonic, showcasing 3 distinctive and highly effective techno cuts.

‘Try’ takes a broken-beat techno rhythm for it’s spine - reminiscent a little of the 2008/9 dubstep/techno crossover period. Tension is set with dissonant elements pulsing around swooping subs until we are saved by the heroic pads that ease in, building ever upwards to a lush finale. Close your eyes and be transported back to the rave.

‘Box’ is a darker, more percussive affair - claustrophobic and industrial. 130bpm 4/4 distorted kicks set the stage as frantic drum machine hats and claps crash about heavily reverb’ed ghostly samples.

Lastly we come to ‘Sweep’, a hypnotic bleepy roller with a bass heavy presence. As the riff loops up and over, drums build and a dissonant synth part creeps in. The not-quite 4/4 kick drives you ever forward with a gentle stumble as rattling hi hats flair about over head. Great finish to a great EP.
