Both tracks are heavy Amen rollers. On the a-side Abyss goes in for some serious hardcore business with “Journey Of A Crackhead” whereas Cat In The Bag head honcho Tommy The Cat opts for a dirty dubwise approach on the flip.

After a very successful label launch last year with "In Aeternam Vale - Self Destruct EP". Linda Records returns with another straight talking, analog fuelled 10". This time welcoming aboard Berlin based Russian artist "Alexey Volkov". His three track EP "Cold Blooded Genius" comes finely presented on transparent red ten inch vinyl (limited pressing). Whilst staying true to its current white label feel, this time Linda's trademark eyes, also a fitting red. On the A Side at 45RPM the title track "Cold Blooded Genius" and on the B Side two tracks will spin at 33RPM, "Unfriendly Nation" & "Curtains Of Flesh". We hate to categorise and attempt to summarise what these pieces of music craft sound like into words, we'll leave you to indulge for a short time to the machine noise of the highly regarded talent that is Alexey Volkov...

Drawing on a pedigree of lush synth experimentation and cutting drum arrangements, Alfredo Mazzilli has been pushing his own brand of hypnotic techno over the past several years, charting releases with Lanthan Audio, Weekend Circuit and Edit Select. Now, Blankstairs is proud to announce the first U.S.-based release for the Italian producer with Vanaheimr , a pair of new tracks coupled with remixes from Clay Wilson and Hiver.

Mazzilli's work takes a considered pathway that walks the line between form and function, pulling his thick landscapes of synth wash and melodic punctuations through cutting rhythm tracks that owe as much to classic drum machine workouts as the dub-techno stalwarts that he frequently draws on here. Sculptural precision and rhythmic development work in tandem here, giving each track a shifting framework that seems to never touch down in the same place twice.

It s best seen in B-side Njord , a full-on assault of staccato kicks and flickers of percussion elements fleshed out with a series of short, repetitive pads, and washes of reverb, that create a meditative progression of interlocking textures. A similar approach defines A-side Vanir , where a lighter series of synth arrangements are woven through a driving, hypnotic rhythm that offers a fitting counterpoint to Njord's brutal kick patterns.

These are tracks about patience and concentration, allowing the slow, coursing process of the track to take center stage, turning the track into a negotiation between its functional, rhythmic ground and the high-mind ephemerality his arrangements conjure. A pair of remixes join Mazzilli's compositions, with The Bunker New York/Styles Upon Styles alum Clay Wilson twisting Njord towards a more balanced, rhythmic pacing, while pushing its hissing electronics towards a more caustic frequency range. On the A-Side, Hiver draws rhythmic cues from 90's house to turn Vanir into a trance-inducing sunrise groove.

Blankstairs is pleased to announce the imminent release of 'Pathfinder', the latest record from Washington State resident Archivist. 'Pathfinder' is Archivist's second release on Blankstairs, following 2015's 'Migration', which Impose Magazine celebrated as offering listeners "the possibility of transcendence." Archivist's new record is no different, featuring three original deep techno tracks along with a remix by The Bunker New York resident Eric Cloutier. With 'Pathfinder', Archivist shows himself to be one of the West Coast's most intense and interesting techno producers.

Heads Up! The Berlin DJ and producer Audri present his new label Demut. He inaugurates his project with a stunning 3 track EP with Detroit Techno influence.

On the A side "Refrain Buzz" is an uplifting old school techno track with a stunning bassline and a remarkable whistle that will enter in your head and never leave!

On the B1 side we find "Quake" that is exactly what a B side should be, raw - punchy and obscure, perfect for every dark basement and warehouse.

On the B2 side "Life In Andromeda" closes the EP with emotional pads and an electro soul that brings you into space with a dreamful feeling!

Ben Gibson and Fundamental Interaction each deliver two pieces of razor sharp modern techno for their label, Dyad.

We all know that when it's a real vibe you can't go wrong. If you add talent and hearth to that you got gunpowder for pure bangers. And that's exactly what we at Hoga Nord Rekord wanted to accomplish with the sixth release of our UK 12inch series. Consequently we contacted Jo Howard from Sunderland in the North East of England.

As a producer and DJ he uses the alias Bird of Paradise. Smoking Weekend is the name of the four track EP. BoP came to prominence via his output on labels such as Jennifer Cardin's Correspondant imprint and New Yorks Throne of Blood. His debut e.p on the former reached number one in the Juno download techno charts in December 2015. As a DJ, he has honed his skills both at his own parties Cubik and Body Talk. As well as being a resident at Man Powers 'Tourist Parties' wich have afforded him the opportunity to play alongside Todd Terje, John Talabot, Daniel Avery and Ivan Smagghe.

Jo is raised on a steady diet of punk/post punk, and learning to play instrumentation from an early age defines why Jo's way of arranging music and his eclectic taste is different to his peers. Something that fits Hoga Nord more than hand in gloves. We prefer to ride it like bareback pirates as you should know by now.

The Smoking Holiday EP opens with Tito. The spooky oblique intro will soon start to roll deep into a dark cadenced haunting and whispering tune that will twist, trance and tribal your mind back to the early 90s mornings. On a loving, yet a bit dark and grimey, dance floor in- or outdoors. Second track Joy-Rides will lug your brains and fizzle your feet with its eclectic format. Ambient mixed up with rhythmic techno and bleep - a good appetizer of Bird of Paradises DJ-sets. B-side chugs on with the title track and ends with a electro tune that sends funky fresh flirtations to Andrew Weatheralls and Keith Tenniswoods project Two Lone Swordsmen. Under the UVB-76 Music umbrella emerges The Stone Tapes, a new medium for residual recordings documented in static matter. Built on the intellectual foundations 19th century paranormal theory the label purports a belief that within sound can be located an audio apparition, an intent and carried feeling. In essence transmuting a specific moment into vinyl observable only at playback. An ideological limestone soaking up and releasing intent.

Imprinting on the psychic ether a distinctly deadened ambience, The Stone Tapes elicits ideas that even today lurk on the fringes of experience, considered heretical by some, while held foundation by the initiated.

The Stone Tapes reanimates for a second release that reasserts the labels grounding in astute conceptualizations in realized sound. A collaboration between Moroccan born Amsterdam resident and Leyla Records chief Chafik Chennouf and 10 Label boss and Kyoto, Japan native Katsunori Sawa.

A rhythmically pulsating quadrivium, the Fragments of Reference EP distils four disturbed takes on deeply unnatural sound in a 4/4 framework. Cavorting around themes of self-actualization, denial, inevitability and fate, the EP goes to great lengths to reflect our modern predicament. Techno clairvoyance.

The EP kicks off with the elecronica mood of XTC, followed by a classic 4/4 Corp action track Neurotic.

The B side opening is a trip on the artist's underworld, a techno banger which is clearly Berlin infused. The closing track Re-Active perfectly mesh some qwerky acid bassline from the nineties and proper rhythms to shake any dancefloor.

Cosmin TRG is back on his white label operation, Sportiv. Brixtonstrasse explores an imaginary buffer zone between the urban angst of London's pirate transmissions and the warehouse logic of Berlin's post-Iron Curtain freedom and energy explosion. In line with the label's semiotics, Gloria is named after the rather unsuccessful 3rd League football club from Cosmin's home town. It's a high octane tribal workout with fuzzy chords, in the vein of 90s luminaries like Sterac, bringing back hints of the era's unbridled energy and enthusiasm.

This time selected by Dax J, the prolific London White, vinyl only series returns with another selection of specially selected Techno from very capable, upcoming artists.

Pfirter and his label MindTrip are highly respected in the world of Techno. Being the main vessel for his own productions, it has also featured music and remixes by producers such as Chris Liebing, Lucy, Markus Suckut, Oscar Mulero and Developer, whilst also looking to support and break new artists. The fifteenth vinyl release is in charge of Italian talent Diego Amura who makes his MindTrip debut following releases on the likes of ARTS, Planet Rhythm and Konsequent. Having played alongside leading DJs such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Rødhåd, Sleeparchive and Dax J, his reputation is growing substantially with each gig and release. Diego's original tracks on the Automa EP incorporate a raw, analogue aesthetic, with a nod to the old school. Straight up jams ready for any dancefloor, they also have a feeling of menace and purpose from the twisted melodies. Jonas Kopp supplies the sole remix, who to many should need no introduction following his influential releases on Tresor, PoleGroup, Ilian Tape, CLR and many more. His rework concentrates on a more hypnotic flow, instilled with sparks of energy, funk and deep textures. This is MindTrip!

Having last graced Etruria Beat with his excellent 'Peruana' EP, backed by remixes from Twr72 and label boss Luca Agnelli and after a great ep on Pfirter's label Mindtrip record, home grown talent Diego Amura returns to Etruria with his 'Phalaina' EP, featuring two new originals backed by a brace of heavyweight remixes. The title track with its violent kick and rough bass receives not one, but two remixes from UK techno pioneer Ben Sims. Two different interpretations in his Spacey and Jackin' remixes that both deliver intense grooves, spacey synths and thumping beats. Diego's 'Euphausia' with its strong 909 groove and hypnotic flavour is reworked by Figure, Clergy artist and SK_eleven boss Setaoc Mass, who delivers a stripped, but imposing offering that will ignite any dancefloor.

The Motech label has been building a high reputation of late but it's actually been three years since co-owner, Detroit's DJ 3000 (Franki Juncaj) released a 12inch of his own. Putting that to rights, he delivers 'Take Me Away', due for release in April and featuring a deadly remix by Truncate.
The original version of 'Take Me Away' is a deep and hypnotic builder with a relentless groove that stands astride Detroit Techno and tough House, a style that DJ 3000 has championed over the years.
Truncate is the alias of Audio Injection (LA's David Flores). His remix ups the tempo and adds an infectious vocal cut-up, turning 'Take Me Away' into a raw, hard-hitting cut.
The Truncate remix has already been picked up by Eats Everything for his new fabric mix, out soon, as well as receiving early support from Dave Clarke on his White Noise Radio show and Ben Sims on the October edition of Run It Red

MindTrip is glad to introduce Dold, a huge young talent from the Swedish Techno scene. Known for his first releases on Float Records and his platform Arsenik, 'Shutdown' EP showcases a big range of his musical identity. Dold takes us into a hypnotic journey with his melodic interpretations, while he moves things faster on the darkest side of this EP, with his driven techno tracks fully inspired by 909 patterns and analog synth jams. We are really happy to welcome such a young and furious spirit on the label, and we do believe his tunes work best if you play them out loud. This is MindTrip!

For the 9th installment in the PRRUKWHT series, Holland based ''Dubiosity'' makes his re-appearance on the Planet Rhythm imprint with the 4 tracks spanning ''Denying The Antecedent EP''. For the A1 ''Richter Scale'' the Dutch producer goes into very atmospheric territories with a pad based track that keeps on building whilst maintaining an overall mellow vibe. Title track ''Denying The Antecedent'' is a more dubbed out operation which cleverly uses non 4X4 drum patterns and crawling synth blops. This track is also based upon an utterly atmospheric pad sound. ''Juxtaposed'' is a more firm track that's somewhat tense but also with a smooth ambiance. ''Sunk Cost Fallecy'' serves as the more aggressive and paranoid closing down.

Glaswegian Techno stalwart ''Edit Select'' presents the thirtieth effort in his Edit Select Records series. ''Aftereffekts'' is a 4 track release that opens with the thumping ''The Visitor", this track combines puzzling percussive movements with otherwordly pads which subtly build to a hypnotic climax.

''Fallen'' is a broad sounding cut with an almost orchestral touch to it. The uncanny drum patterns and repetative FX make for a solid voyage. Aftereffect is a percussion laden
cut with soul touching strings that float throughout. ''You'' is a melancholic piece of art that incorporates heavenly pads with beautifully orchestrated rhodes sounds and a hypnotic drumtrack.

Technologic sound research finds its simmetry in a point among past, present and future. KR/LF platform, founded in Italy by Kill Ref, really aims at it. Endlec, already known for his double appearance on Mord, ushers the label series: Linear Authority is a fast techno cutting-edge sound designed EP. Thus aesthetically classic, it can also truly represent the modern rhythm contemplation KR/LF is seeking.On the A side, The original title track is a punchy frantic bpm killer tool built upon a raw yncopated bass and retrospective distorted synthesizers. Glory Days is an obsessive bassline crescendo drawn on nasty drummachine progression: a real timeless banger weapon.Remixes on the B Side are a nuclear enforcement: on B1 Binny has thrown down a Glory Days remix resulting one of his best dense hypnotic bassline opera driving a fast breakneck smashing tool. Zodiak Commune Records presents the fifth release in the Insectum series with a new EP. This masterpiece called "Flying Deer EP" is produced by common player Jaquarius. Get hypnotized by his pure analog Acid sounds and grab this 303 x limited collector!

After solemnly closing out the SPC-series in 2016, Jeroen Search hands in his second EP of the year for Figure. Carrying his signature style, these tunes embody the live-recording feel he is known for, perfectly executed and arranged in clean-cut layers. Both tracks on the A-side feature big and beefy beats, their generous sub-range creating ample space for the juxtaposing elements to effectively slice through, whether it be the penetrating bleeps of 'Deduced' or the piercing rides on 'Interval'. Things get bumpy on the flip when the rugged but undeniable groove of 'Steady Pulse' firmly stands its ground against repeated onslaughts of flailing percussion. The jolty rhythms and tinkling loops of 'Endless Circles' may seem like it being the odd one out, but unexpectedly merge into an intricate mesh of sounds, making for a most memorable closer to this jam-packed EP.

Having reached double digits on its release roster, Amsterdam-based techno label Format presents its 11th release. And it s a three-piece ensemble by label honcho Juan Sanchez himself

FR011 delivers three techno bombs that perfectly reflect the Format sound. Things kick off with Despite the... , which combines deep grooves to staccato bass pulses designed for peak-time moments. Spanish DJ/producer Aiken delivers a superb remix that is propelled by a nasty industrial groove and coated in dark atmospheres. Closing the release is the sinister In The Dark , which is as deep as it is trippy...

FORMAT second 2017 release is another prime example of the label s coveted sound.

This is the first solo work by Kwartz released by the Warm Up imprint. A vinyl four-tracker and an extended seven track EP as its digital counterpart.

The young Spanish talent displays all his production skills in this release that opens with the compact kick drums and arpeggiated madness of "Rite", spiced with sweeps and drones that interweave with the hypnotic arrangement. In his first rework, Oscar Mulero reduces the bass drum punch, twists the arpeggiated synth line with reverb and early reflections, and adds an overall guerrilla feel to the sound.

Next up is "Remix B", also by Oscar. This is a less aggressive version, more for building a set. The elements appear slowly, with flanged synth lines as principal motif.
"Black Horse" starts with an ambient mood, till the industrial groove comes in and creates a mixture of meditation and aggression that grows and grows to utter madness. "Unknown territories" contains part of the mood felt in "Rite", although this time the sequence is more FM bell-like and the drums are less aggressive, mental and deep

With her debut album Self Fulfilling Prophecy, released by InFiné last June, the French producer closed the loop on the first sequence of her life. A sequence filled with transformations, encounters and collaborations: her successive moves to Montréal and Berlin (where she was closely involved with feminist activism), and her foundational residency at Detroit's Underground Resistance, among others, informed her authentic, global-minded techno aesthetic. The aptly-named Self Fulfilling Prophecy is thus the honest expression of a artist who has found herself at the center of techno activism, an eloquent testimonial to 'how today's electronic is made.' With the necessary hindsight and application, La Fraicheur has created an opus that blends raging techno with more atmospheric moments. An opus that is now being reviewed in light of the electronic scene's main pillar: the dancefloor. 'Self Fulfilling Prophecy remixes' recasts in vinyl version the Techno esprit of La Fraicheur´s original album with four reworks, which condition the dancers to unstoppable footwork as much as they open the listeners 'minds up. On the A-side, an activist of the Polish scene, VTSS is a leading figure in the protest against conservatism, racism and ambient homophobia and one of the founders of the Brutaz parties in Warsaw. She rocks 'Eau Troubles' in an 'industrial' soundscape, as disturbing as fascinating

His latest release I KNOW from Elypsia Records is a quintet of Detroit inspired remixes of the song 'I Know'. Inspired by Kevin Saunderson, his original TECHNO MIX (7:06) is a hardcore and high energy track with intensity to match the wildest of crowds. The EP also contains 3 remixes of the track, each exposing and accentuating the brilliant aspects of his complex tune. It begins with the LUCIEN FOORT REMIX (6:41), a lively big room hit with a punch fit for an epic Saturday night. UK MIX (6:46) follows with subtle electric melo-dies and rhythmic drum and bass patterns that give listeners the feel of wonder and excitement under a clear starry sky. With a clean and gravitating groove BIT FLOAT REMIX (7:42) would fit perfectly in any Ibiza party with flair and style. This release is a masterpiece of its own and nothing less than the product of a man who was born with beats and melodies ingrained in his soul. For Orlando Voorn, making music is more than a way of life, it's a necessity. From the early age of 9 his natural intuitions became apparent when his drum teacher told his parents he could play everything that was shown to him, even though he had no ability to read a score. He began to DJ at the age of 12, and 3 years later won the World Mixing Championships of 1983 at just 15 years old. Steve Clisby, from the popular American band 'American Gypsies', recognized Voorn's ability and taught him chord structures, which gave him the tools to begin composing tracks using keys and bass. His artistry then took off, making a name for him-self with his vibrant dance tracks under the alias 'Frequency". Today, he's known as one of the Netherland's most inventive and ingenious producers in the world of electronic dance music. Having produced a wide variety of music under a number of monikers including 'Fix', 'Format', 'Urban Nature' and 'X-it', his diverse ability stems

Peverelist does Peverelist on his 3rd album of Bristolian bass techno prisms, Tessellations, his first for the Livity Sound label, forming a typically stripped, acute treatise on the flux of dub, techno, D&B and ambient electronics that make up his soundsystem DNA.

Rooted in the '90s but curved and toned for 2017, Pev's sound is economically functional but not without a crucial sliver of emotive, sensual/textural pressure that bleeds thru in each cut. It's hardly hands-in-the-air material, yet his slow-burning vibes are arguably more satisfying and subtly impressive in the immediacy of the dance and for the long run.

Across a neatly plotted 48 minutes he systematically investigates and consolidates all stripes of the Peverelist sound in a way that builds on the experiments of 12000 Seconds (2014) whilst reprising and refining the heft of Jarvik Mindstate (2009).

The roiling modular tones of opener Burning Seas offers a rare, beat-less iteration of his sound before the session properly gets under way, vacillating the pressure between Under Clearing Skies dense electro-bass pulses and strobing dub chords, and the wide open lushness of Still Early, then twisting into the latinate shimmy of Sheer Chance Matters and the spiralling trills of Wireframes, which sounds almost like Plastikman meets Unique 3.

Further Inland brings a lot of originality and feeling with a misty-eyed mesh of airy Detroit/Berlin arpeggios and serpentine house swang, cooling down into the tribalism patterns of Brinks and Limits and closing on another rare, beat-less vision, Plateau from which to survey his rolling topography and then dive back in again.

Redimension welcomes newcomers Richey V & Simone Zino to the label with an exclusive collaboration from the young Italian duo.

Hailing from Milan, the pair cut their teeth performing regularly at the cities best known techno clubs and events, leading to Simone gaining a spot as resident DJ at famed Italian venue Bolgia, and Richey launching his own weekly techno event, VOID. With further support on their releases from well-known DJs such as Joseph Capriati, Tale Of Us and Adam Beyer, they have built a strong and growing fan base.

“Hysteria” is the first collaborative EP to come from the couple, and it does not disappoint. The eponymous track creates tension with a stripped back groove, and uses hypnotic synths and an arpeggiated lead synth to generate an extra wave of intensity, resulting in a brutal workout, worthy of its namesake.

Track two, simply titled “Action” lifts the Ep’s energy even further. With a sinister lead vocal throughout, the hard-hitting drums and warning sirens give a taste of what’s to come.

Next up, “Rave On” is a nonstop workout that takes the EP deeper using unique vocal chants, and a buzzing lead synth. Keeping the spirit of the rave alive, “Rave On” is a throwback to the origins of techno, and is set to damage dance floors from warehouse raves to intimate clubs.

The fourth track on the EP, “Empire” uses a thick and driving bassline, and the accompanying melodic synths to create moments of euphoria. The driving techno track is relentless in its dramatic suspense, and leaves the Dancefloor wanting more.

Last up is the EP’s digital exclusive. “Meteora” is an epic slice of melodic techno, using snare rolls and swelling synth pulses to create waves of sonic energy, the track is a welcome finale to the EP and rounds of a truly unique and powerful EP from the young Italians.

As we reach our 30th release on the label, Animal Farm is proud to present Stephanie Sykes' first solo EP since 2016's effort on Prodigal Son. Those two years have seen her presence in the techno scene explode, with a flurry of appearances across Europe - our own Animal Farm night in Glasgow among them + residencies at Tbilisi's KHIDI and the infamous after hours Jaded crew in London, Corsica Studios.

Title track 'Interference' is an impeccably crafted tool in the vein of her recent DJ sets - boomy in the low end with sweeping peak time sensibilities. It's a brand of unpretentious techno purism Sykes has become synonymous with, also making her a firm favourite with the Animal Farm crowd.

Brent Snyder’s interest and discovery of Frippertropics and Brian Eno inspired him to set up a 4 track tape recorder in the corner of his dining room to create the two slowevolving guitar loop-based pieces that make up Cumulus. The a side, “Excursion”, drifts between subtle dusty peaks and valleys in an almost Basinski-esque way, while the subtle hums and textures of “Cumulus” gently levitates above the earth and settle into sublime tones similar to Steve Roach “Structures From Silence” and Brian Eno “Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks..

Project Runaway brings together two of Tel Aviv's new breed of talented DJ / producers in a meeting of tripped out, expansive, psychedelic, club music. Landing on Especial to expand horizons is Met, their debut EP of deep, percussive dubs for late night tribes. A name on many leftfield lips, Alek Lee's journey continues following two acclaimed solo releases for the wonderful Antinote crew and new project, Shame On Us (alongside Naduve and Yovav Arzi) for that brightest star, Hivern Discs. Teaming up with the sound production skills of Stephan Bazbaz they create Project Runaway. Holding down his own citywide residencies, Bazbaz has developed a studio mastery of minimal dub, crispy house and trippy techno via a growing stream releases on numerous labels, as well as setting up his own No Wave records in 2016. After their welcoming, simple, yet wall quacking remix of Persian (EES031), Met, or 'dead' in Hebrew, bring their strands together as one sound. In original form, a vibrating drum takes on bass backbone is broadened with tight layers of percussion overtones and warped vocal interplay. Lee's psychedelic imaginings are a perfect fit across Bazbaz's wide production expanse, before horns raise the heat to extreme. For deeper DJs and big system dwellers, Met (Dub) does as it should, stripping away and opening wide. Hand percussion and vox ride the channels, coming in and out of the mix, while dub stabs transfix and could run for days. A meeting of minds, drums, psychedelics and pure club love.

Last year, we got together with The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision’s RE:VIVE initiative for the second time, inviting four local artists to breathe new life into four archival films from the Sound and Vision and EYE Filmmuseum archives. Jordan GCZ, Suzanne Kraft, Parrish Smith and Upsammy were all assigned short animated films dating back to 1921. The films and their new scores debuted at EYE on August 2nd as part of Dekmantel Festival 2018. Unsurprisingly, each artist imparted their unique styles onto the films that they previously had no relation with. From Suzanne Kraft's sparse atmospherics that have become more apparent in his new SK U KNO project to Jordan GCZ’s free flowing hardware jams. Parrish Smith showed his contemplative side and sparse orchestrations that he demonstrated on his RE:VIVE release, Genesis Black, a sonic departure from his bombastic releases and DJ-sets while upsammy showed yet again her deft hand for melody and texture, a style that dominates all her releases to date.

These four scores can live apart from their films, fitting seamlessly into each artists' growing catalogs of work. But when combined, it’s as if the films and music were made simultaneously with the artist and filmmaker together in the same room. Dekmantel and RE:VIVE are proud to present these new works as the electronic music scene in The Netherlands continues to show its multifaceted talent that continues to expand far beyond the dance floor.

Spaced out electro tracks by Daniele Paduano on his own R12 label coming in a extremely small run. Daniele who has always had a passion for synthesizers since he started using his father's DX7 when he was a child. All tracks are recorded in a single take, with some life parts manually played on different synthesizers. Flowers Of Evil ticks all the above boxes and flicks switches that would power-up a new uncharted universe of her own musical modernité. Finders Keepers present the first-ever release of these vital archive recordings.

As a genuine vanguard of electronic music composition at the forefront of the modular synthesiser revolution in the late 1960s, Suzanne Ciani’s forward-thinking approach to new music would rarely look to the past for inspiration, which makes this unheard composition from 1969 a rare exception to the collective futurist vision of Ciani and synthesiser designer Don Buchla. In choosing to adapt the controversial prose of French poet Charles Baudelaire, Suzanne would join the ranks of ongoing generations of pioneering musicians like Olivier Messiaen, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Serge Gainsbourg, Etron Fou Leloublan, Celtic Frost and Marc Almond (not forgetting Star Trek’s William Shatner!), all equally inspired by the 19th century writer’s works of “modernité” (modernity), a self-coined term dedicated to capturing the fleeting, ephemeral experience of life in an urban metropolis, best exemplified in his symbolic, erotic and macabre ode to Parisian industrialisation, Les Fleurs du mal (Flowers Of Evil).

Huxley) some might instantly recognise an unconscious sistership between this recording and another 1969 electronic adaptation of Flowers Of Evil by celebrated female electronic composer Ruth White. An interesting distinction of White’s excellent version of Flowers Of Evil (released via Limelight records, home to the likes of Fifty Foot Hose and Paul Bley) is that its dark tone generation and vocal manipulation was created with a Moog synthesiser, the commercially triumphant
rival to Suzanne and Don’s Buchla Systems (Buchla and Moog’s historic, simultaneous, neck-and-neck synth developments are well documented.) The fact that Ciani’s version was never intended for commercial release (not unlike her 1975 Buchla concerts, which could easily have taken Morton Subotnick’s Bull by the horns!) is also poetically reflective of the nature of Ciani and Buchla’s alternative perspective. The choice to present this extract from Flowers Of Evil in its intended French language further distances Ciani’s faithful reaction from some of its better-known variations. Having attempted to voice the poem herself, the multilingual Italian-American composer’s French accent did not meet her own standards, resulting in the request for a fellow unnamed French student who lived on campus at Mills College in Oakland to accurately verbalise the section of Baudelaire’s collection entitled Élévation.

Pale Bloom finds Sarah Davachi coming full circle. After abandoning the piano studies of her youth for a series of albums utilizing everything from pipe and reed organs to analog synthesizers, this prolific Los Angeles-based composer returns to her first instrument for a radiant work of quiet minimalism and poetic rumination.

Recorded at Berkeley, California's famed Fantasy Studios, Pale Bloom is comprised of two delicately-arranged sides. The first – a three-part suite where Davachi's piano acts as conjurer, beckoning Hammond organ and stirring countertenor into a patiently unfolding congress – recalls Eduard Artemiev's majestic soundtrack for Andrei Tarkovsky's Solaris. "Perfumes I-III" employs the harmonically rich music of Bach as a springboard for abstract, solemn pieces that sound as haunted as they are dreamlike.

While the first half of Pale Bloom showcases Davachi's latent Romanticism, the sidelong "If It Pleased Me To Appear To You Wrapped In This Drapery" reveals the Mills College graduate's affinity for the work of avant-garde composers La Monte Young and Eliane Radigue. Softly vibrating strings rise and fall like complementary exhalations of breath. As the fluctuating pitches create overtones that pitter and pulse, the piece slowly and subtly evolves – suggesting a well-tempered stillness, yet without stasis.

Introducing a new label and musical direction for Lee Renacre from 100Hz with, PUSHER. His aim is to push the boundaries of electronic music by using different time signatures and poly rhythmic patterns, and by not using 4/4 patterns and the standard hat clap beats it’s possible to create a different style of mood and dancing which is deep loose and skippy. Pusher has a bold new Techno sound and also a gentle side with tracks of deep emotive strings and melody’s.

This Series of tracks is called Drug Music, a stripped down funky style with unusual beat patterns and poly rhythmic elements best enjoyed and fully understood when in an euphoric state, always recorded from a live studio jam where Lee’s improvised sounds come to life with some unexpected results. Lee also collaborates with artist and good friends for some extra depth and to mix up this unique style of electronica.

The first of the Pusher EP’s is a thumping minimal and full on affair with infectious killer acid riffs in odd time signatures. Crisp funky modulating hats monster bass lines and dramatic interplanetary sounds with live tweaks, twists and turns. Dear Governing Class of Georgia and dear Madam President,

I hope you will allow me to first write my sincere greetings. I will spare you the J'accuse, but I am going to delve into a sinister and shameful situation for our otherwise beautiful country.

My name is Irakli Kiziria, I was born in Georgia and I am a musician living in Germany for almost two decades. I first heard about Mikhailo two years ago through friends and activists. I listened to his music and met him during an interview with Electronic Beats that happened in 2018. To be able to meet him in prison gave me the chance to exchange with him on different projects. It is not easy to collaborate with someone alienated from “regular” society, with no access to the internet and so on, but it is also very interesting. After almost a year, I am very happy and proud to announce that my label is ready to release our record on June 15th.
I believe music is an expression of freedom and that Mikhailo expresses in his music his longing for it. Maybe if you listen to his music, you will hear the voice of our brothers and sisters in prison. Maybe you will feel and understand that he and many others do not belong there. Maybe you will find the courage to change these laws that hurt so many of our brethren. And maybe you will try to help them see their families and their friends sooner.

My name is Mikhail Todua, I am turning thirty-four this year and I was raised in Tbilisi. Music was always my passion since childhood, which is why I decided to work in this industry. Thirteen years ago I met a girl named Salome in a club, we fell in love and I married her before she gave birth to our daughter who is now nine years old. Sadly for the past six years, I have only talked to my little girl on the phone. She thinks I live very far away in the USA because we did not want to hurt her at such a young age with the truth.
On September 12, 2013, while I was driving back to Tbilisi from holiday, I was randomly stopped and taken into the local police station. After which I was sentenced to nine years for possession of the drug MDMA (for personal use). After two years in jail, I was granted the right to work on music, and the penitentiary administration allowed me to arrange one room and transform it into a music studio. Music is one of the most important things in my life and I could not be without it. I collected various parts of music gear that people sent me. It was not easy, and I had to depend on the kindness of many people to get what I needed. During my time in prison, I have managed to release five records. This is a labor of love that I craft and work on during the 5-hour blocks of time I get five times a week in the studio. I have created music for a play based on 12 Angry Men and for the documentary Facility 16. I also offer music therapy for my fellow inmates.

My name is Salome and I am Mikhailo's wife. We are preparing his music studio space that will be ready for him after his release. Of course, Mikhailo has changed, but I do not know if the reason is due to his arrest or simply time, because many people change and improve without going to prison. I do think that prison showed him a different side to everything. He uses time as productively as possible there and I believe he is using his abilities to the maximum. What he is doing there no one has done before in Georgia. In September it will be six years after his arrest and I think that this a lot of time for such an offense.

My name is Beso. A few days after I had been released from prison, after serving eight years on drugs charges, three police officers took me to the police station demanding cooperation in order to prosecute Lasha.

My name is Lasha and I was arrested in 2013 for the possession of 0.00009 grams of desomorphine found in a syringe. An amount so small, it cannot be seen with the naked eye.

His name was Demur, he was twenty-two years old and in August 2016 he committed suicide. The young man left a note which spelled the abuse he had been subjected to. A policeman had threatened him into revealing the identities of people suspected of dealing marijuana in the town of Samtredia.

We are just a few names in the thousands that have been impacted by the current Georgian legislation. Our drug policy is one of the strictest in the world. Is it right? We are not just numbers, we are lives that are destroyed, children that are left alone, futures that vanish.

Maybe Mikhailo found solace in prison and became what he was meant to be: a musician, an artist. But what about others who don't find this welfare, this strength? People with no support that are pressured by a police force who often do not see us as human beings, because the current laws do not encourage them to do so. Please Madam President and our government, think about this youth that is getting stolen away. We have seen and endured these sufferings for too long. We can no longer be prolonging these hardships that are unfair and unjust. What we are asking for is not to decriminalize or legalize the use of drugs, but to correct the political errors which have led to and caused so much pain for the children, women, and men of Georgia.

Georgia has one of the highest incarceration rates with 252.2 inmates per 100 000 inhabitants, in Europe, only Russia has a higher rate. (Source: SPACE 2018 survey)

Georgian law does not establish a threshold for small quantities, which means that possession of even particles automatically qualifies as a large amount, triggering criminal liability and a mandatory minimum five-year prison sentence.

Between 2006 and 2008, the first two years of the “zero tolerance” policy, the number of registered drug offenses tripled. It also coincided with a tripling of Georgia’s prison population.

Since launching back in 2017, London label NorthSouth Records has released a quartet of EPs showcasing tracks from the likes of Christian Jay, Bilal, Rob Amboule and Henry Hyde. Here they return for the first time in 2019 with another action-packed, multi-artist extravaganza. Voigtmann kicks things off via the deep space chords, funky electronic motifs and intergalactic tech-house grooves of "Separation Attitude", before The PGA offers up a bass-heavy peak-time roller rich in retro-futurist riffs, watery electronics and crispy drums. Label regular Chris Geschwindner opens up side B with an attractive blend of two-step garage grooves and spacey tech-house melodies, while Henry Hyde delivers the synth-bass-propelled, electro fired melodiousness of "Hello Spcshp".

Legendary artist Mick Harris (Napalm Death, Painkiller, Scorn…) kicks off his 2019 with this EP of tar-black, bass heavy sonic violence. This EP features 4 reworks of “Salford Priors”, one of the heaviest tracks from his return-to-form album “Over Depth”, the first by Mick Harris himself, and 3 more by his longtime collaborators in the production guises of Fausten, Stormfield, and Monster X. The EP begins with an apocalyptic, dubbed out violent rework by the man himself, creeping in with a cold, calm eerie drone that quickly goes from zero to 100%, blasting into a full force attack of artillery percussion and strafing, shrapnel textures atop the landmine subs and characteristic Harris snarling mono-bass.

Julien Caraz has caused much distress over the years with the sheer rage and precision sonic assaults of his Monster X project. Here he eschews his usual frenetic tempos for a solid 130BPM, a sleek techno destroyer built for giant spaces and huge soundsystems in mind. The Combat Recordings boss has worked audiovisually with Mick since the Scorn AV at Bangface Weekend in 2011, touring with Fret AV in 2018. Here he switches back into audio mode to rework Salford Priors into a hard electro assault for the Stormfield remix.

Fausten is the shadowy, twisted collaboration between Monster X and Stormfield.
Having released a staggeringly twisted album on the legendary Ad Noiseam, Fausten
went into hibernation as the pair pursued their own projects, with only a few sporadic tracks surfacing over the years. The pair have been putting together an album’s worth of new material for 2019, beginning with a powerful remix of Salford Priors. Taking Fret back into it’s aquatic, fathoms-deep sonic territory, this remix is a behemoth work that moves at quarter-step tempo, allowing for more physicality and dynamics, the profound pulse of each profoundly deep bassdrum like an underwater volcanic explosion, with skittering percussion the resonates in the stillness.

Previously unreleased rave weapons from the iconic, Haunter Records affiliated Milanese duo's lost archive. 200 copies, vinyl only.

Next up for Rhythm Section's club focused sub-label - 'International Black' 004 is here and it is bringing the heat - this time from Tennessee, USA. Mister Saturday Night and CGI affiliate Alex Falk delivers a 4 track EP made with one thing in mind - the dancefloor. Taking influence from the likes Chevel, Levon, Redshape and Phase; Alex Falk achieves a singular vision merging American and European styles of Techno.

Opening with UPP, an effortless techno groove with a tight rolling bass line, classic lead stabs that pulsate, twist and turn as the heavy kick punishes the subs. BETA comes in next with a serious low end bounce - a distorted bass bump pushes the system to the max before being followed up by lower sub all swinging around a fat house kick and tight percussion - another club stomper for the serious rigs only.

The B side is a proper dub techno workout. Beginning with DAB a focused club tool whereupon sharp stabs progress and modulate throughout the track as tight kicks and hats hold down the groove. Its a serious wristbreaker that will cut through any mix. Closing the EP is GATES13, a more downtempo affair. Atmospheric chord stabs dub upon an 808 kick, a must for the warm up or warm down.
