Detroit bred / LA based producer Kenny Larkin has long been a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and in the DJ booth. For over 2 decades this giant has supplied us with some of the deepest, most soul touching and verdant techno sounds the scene has ever presented. Larkin's music is always awash with human emotion, his machine tinged expressions hark back to the true sources of techno music where man always met machine and the soul was inherent. 'Serena X' always sounded like it had been beamed back to us, even in 1992 when she first appeared, bolstered by a classic remix from fellow Detroit techno auteur Carl Craig that saw C2 firmly innerzoning and adding in some trademark stellar chopped-up breaks to the mix. Both of these now classic and monumental tracks are included here, on this reissue, backed by the towering melodic workout that is 'Empirical Reality'. These tracks all stand tall today, a testament to the forward thinking style of Mr. Larkin. Remastered from his own source materials and with his full involvement, it's a pleasure to welcome 'Serena X' back into the ears and minds of today's listeners.

One of the biggest trance hits of the new millennium gets a 2020 makeover and a fresh squeeze on hot wax. Push – Strange World is given the remix treatment by Belgian dynamic techno duo Joyhauser, alongside the anthemic 2000 Remake. What can you say about M.I.K.E. / Push, the guy is a legend, a musical genius having crafted countless tracks under several guises, and he is still going as strong as ever today. Taken from the album, From Beyond, Strange World really hit the big time in clubs and festivals thanks to its soaring melodies and euphoric climax. It spawned a swathe of remixes and reissues over the years and no wonder it raises its head once again. Joyhauser are Joris Cielen and Stijn Vanspauwen, a techno outfit from Bilzen BE. They share a deep passion for electronic music and have been smashing dancefloors since 2017. "This release marked a real shift in my production style in 1996, and was the start of a significant chapter in my recording career. Everything was handled independently from design to distribution to a subscription service to accompany it. Concept 1 was recorded in isolation at a time when I was not allowed to enter the USA and with everything going on in the world at this moment, it felt like the right time to finally release this project to a larger audience. Without the year of experimentation around the recording process of Concept 1 in 1995, I would never have gotten to the reduction that I was able to achieve later on the recording style of Plastikman 'Consumed'. In that way this is as an important album for me than any of my Plastikman albums."

Renaissance recruit Tale of Us for the second the second edition of their quarterly-century celebrations.With the first release in this series occupying #1 status for 6 weeks last summer, Renaissance are back with the second instalment of their 25th Anniversary 'The Remix Collection' project. For the follow-up to Solomun's immense reworking of Age Of Love, Renaissance have bagged more Techno royalty in the shape of Italian duo Tale Of Us, to take on the huge task of remixing another iconic 90's classic.The track in question is the legendary 'Café Del Mar' by the 90's trance project, Energy 52. Much alike the previous remix by Solomun, it seems Tale Of Us also have their work cut out for them, as this track has had no shortage of remixes over the years. However, the popularity of 'Café Del Mar' is not simply reflected through its remix roster. Named after the iconic bar at the heart of the Ibiza clubbing scene, it was the soundtrack to the rave-culture movie, 'Human Traffic' in 1999. In addition to this 'Café Del Mar' later went on to be voted #1 in MixMag's 2001 '500 Best Tracks Ever' list.With this second remix, Tale of Us take the classic elements that made Café Del Mar such a huge track in the 90's, bringing them into the present-day with big licks of bass and a huge crescendo. Carrying forward the focus of the series, this remix refreshes the iconic track for a new generation of listeners. 'PRSNT' is a unique global artistic project combining the input of artists across the worlds of music, video and written word which acts as a statement on how we, as consumers, engage with music in the 21st century. Vital electronic musicians including Ryuichi Sakamoto, Lafawndah, Lyra Pramuk, Lucrecia Dalt and Visible Cloaks have each contributed tracks, which are approximately 32 seconds long.

The concept was devised by Created By Us and the Barcelona-based label Modern Obscure Music. They read a study which identified that the overwhelming volume of instantly accessible information online is shortening attention spans and altering how audiences engage with music digitally. Their curiosity about the state of online consumption developed further on discovering that around a third of all listeners using digital platforms skip to the next track, within the first 30 seconds of playing.

Each musician was given a fascinating challenge to create engaging compositions with real artistic merit, inside the confines of this shortened span. Akin to Brian Eno's famous Windows 95 start-up music, the time constraints are crucial, and the compositions are deceptively complex and more substantial than expectations of their nano nature would suggest.

'PRSNT' acts as a critique of flighty feed culture, but is simultaneously constructive, providing something which is either proposed solution, or "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" resignation. Every artist has interpreted the brief differently, resulting in an intriguing blueprint for the potential future of digital music. Could abbreviated micro compositions satisfy, inspire and nourish like their longer counterparts? They certainly take up much less of listeners' busy lives, which are often spent tackling ever-increasing workloads.

'No Photos on the Dance Floor! Berlin Techno 1992–Today', compiled by Heiko Hoffmann, follows a hugely successful photography and video art exhibition by the same name that was co-curated by Hoffmann and shown at C/O Berlin in late 2019. The exhibition included works by photographers and visual artists such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Romual Karmakar, Sven Marquardt and Camille Blake, that dealt with Berlin’s club culture since the fall of the wall. It was followed in 2020 by a book of the same name which collected together the most striking imagery from the exhibition alongside interviews and personal essays.

'No Photos on the Dance Floor!' is the first compilation to trace the history of techno made in Berlin over the last three decades, with a selection of classics and hidden gems that have helped shape Berlin’s sound from the early 90s until now. The title refers to a particularity of the Berlin club scene: photography is banned in almost all the important clubs to allow partying together in a space where you can lose yourself to the music and feel free and safe at the same time.

After the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, abandoned spaces and buildings were waiting to be filled with new life in the form of clubs, bars, galleries, workshops, and studios. Berlin became the epicenter of a new nightlife culture that soon resonated around the world. Berlin’s techno scene was heavily influenced by the pioneering sounds of Detroit techno created by African-American producers such as Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Underground Resistance.

Their records were imported to the Berlin DJ scene by the record store Hardwax, based on the ground floor of a building on Reichenberger Straße in Kreuzberg, from December 1989 onward. The original temples of DJ culture in New York amd Chicago, as well as the emerging rave culture developing in London and Manchester via Ibiza, would also go on to shape Berlin’s nightlife. Party series like Tekknozid and clubs such as Ufo, Tresor, and Planet can retrospectively be interpreted as the big bang of the first shared culture between Germany's East and West, having paved the way for what is still the last and biggest expression of European youth culture.

Part 1 of the vinyl edition focuses on the period between 1992 and 2006, with early 90s tracks by Thomas Fehlmann and Moritz von Oswald’s 3MB project (who teamed up with Detroit’s Juan Atkins on compilation opener 'The 4th Quarter'), Berlin techno pioneer DJ Tanith and Mijk van Dijk’s short-lived project 9-10-Boy, von Oswald’s and Ernestus’ influential Maurizio alias, and Alec Empire, who would later go on to start influential noise/industrial band Atari Teenage Riot. Further key tracks from the first half of the aughts come from Mo Loschelder and Klaus Kotai’s Elektro Music Department label, Sleeparchive and Ableton Live co-developer Robert Henke aka Monolake.

Part 2 is drawn from tracks made between 2007 and today, starting at a point when the city became the center for a new creative community of international artists, DJs and producers who often favoured the minimalist aesthetic & musical styles of clubs such as Berghain, Bar25 and Watergate and stayed for the ease of living. Beginning with a remix by Plastikman aka Richie Hawtin of his Minus label signee Heartthrob, the two 12"s also feature contributions from Ben Klock, Avalon Emerson and Modeselektor.

In addition to the two-part vinyl release, 'No Photos on the Dance Floor!' will also be available in expanded CD & digital formats, featuring additional tracks by Rødhad, Efdemin and Ricardo Villalobos.

The record was compiled by Heiko Hoffmann, former editor of Groove magazine and co-curator and co-editor of the 'No Photos on the Dance Floor!' exhibition and accompanying book. The double-vinyl release also features full-format photography by George Nebieridze and Wolfgang Tillmans.

"UK Electronics 1988-1994" is the sound of an era, via the very personal vision of a young Englishman who would spend all of his dole money on the production of underground compilation cassettes spanning across electro, early techno, ambient, experimental, house and industrial music, all while keeping it cohesive.

The two tunes you find in this debut EP have been fully written and produced by Dino Sabatini in his studio in Berlin. "Modulation A" may be a perfect introduction for the journey. It is a dense, tense ride into a liquid atmosphere of a techno playground. Far to be aggressive, though. Go through it, and you´ll get the essence of "Outis" label. "Modulation B" can be taken as a tool, yet totally undependent by its brother. As a "standalone" track, it can bring the dancefloor into an evanescent state of ghostly fog, self-spreading all around you. But when played over another track, it´s capable of adding the spiral touch of a transparent radiation, like being in a boundless land you´ve never been before

Alter Ego - Lycra' Luke Slater's Dinosaur Mix Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke are very happy to present their first vinyl single on their own platform Alter Ego Recordings. In charge again of their entire back catalogue, under monikers like Acid Jesus, Sensorama and Alter Ego, they're starting to re-release all the classic albums sometimes accompanied by newly curated vinyl Ep's. The singles will feature unreleased material, forgotten classics and brand new remix-projects of favourite producers and friends in perfectly re-mastered 12- sound. The first vinyl release on Alter Ego Recordings presents a re-release of two Alter Ego classics remixed by Luke Slater in 1993 and 1994. For many people he is the epitome of hard and driving British electronica. His music, especially under his Planetary Assault System moniker, influenced just about everyone in techno over the last twenty years. Things kick off on the a-side on this record with a Basic Channel style sounddesign. The dubbed chords, moved by a full-bodied bassline and frequent cowbells featured in his Ortoe Circuit Remix' of Soulfree' are showing that Luke's more soulfull side is as good as his tough mode. The slamming Dinosaur Mix' was already in boxes of jocks like Sven Väth and Andrew Weatherall and shows Slater with the foot on the pedal. Cascades of flanged sounds drifting in and out of focus, while no-nonsense drums and percussion driving dance floors in frenzied submission.

25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

In 1995 The Pump Panel (Tim Taylor and Dan Zamani) were commissioned by FFRR/London Records to Redux their choice of any New Order track. They selected the 1983 electro track “Confusion” and transformed it into a stunning 10 minute Acid Journey dominated by a distorted and unforgettable 303 Bassline. It was that Killer Acid Riff that has driven this unique story ever since.



Released on FFRR in 1995 “Confusion” (Pump Panel Re-construction Mix) was an instant club hit Worldwide and especially in the Los Angeles Party Scene. It was in LA in 1996 when Wesley Snipes witnessed the track played several times to huge responses and then licensed it personally to his upcoming Blade Movie.



In August 1998 Blade was released in cinemas and went to Number 1 on the US Box Office chart. The opening scene that featured over 4 minutes of “Confusion” propelling the vampire club blood sequence was described in the Los Angeles Times as “The coolest opening to a Movie ever”.



From that point onwards Blade and “Confusion” achieved Iconic status, it was unprecedented for a pumping acid track to be so heavily and famously used in a blockbuster movie.

The legend of “Confusion” and that frenzied opening scene has taken on a life of its own and the long deleted vinyl version is being re-mastered and re-released on Tim Taylor’s Missile Vintage label…This will coincide with the new 4K Ultra release of Blade The Movie in December 2020.

The original was released in 1991 on the famous underground label Outer Limits/Quark at the early beginning of electronic music. And at this time it was already one of the biggest club hits in the exploding world of the Manhattan nightlife party scene. Mastermind Javier Rosario produced this phenomenal record in the UK and the first imports hit the US underground scene the early nineties with a bang. It became soon an anthem for the legendary Danceteria nightclub and spread from then all over the world.

As Morganistic, Luke Slater only released a handful of cuts-but among those was the album Fluids Amniotic, still widely praised today as a benchmark techno long-player. Regularly featuring in the sets of Hood and Mills, Morganistic's dark, rumbling minimalism was, as the album title suggests, the sonic equivalent of being trapped in the murky, viscous fluids of some sinister alien womb.

Slater unearthed the original DAT and reel-to-reel tapes and got them remastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis. Fluids Amniotic will get re-issued both on vinyl and digitally for the first time in 25 years.

12 years after Samim scored a worldwide underground smash with his massive 'Heater' tune, Get Physical re-release a fantastic packages of remixes with new versions from Tube & Berger, Diplo and FNX Omar.

It was impossible to dance in 2007 without someone dropping 'Heater' at some point in the set. It still sounds as quirky, inventive and left of centre now as it did then. The fresh 2019 remaster beefs up the drums, crystallises the Colombian cumbia lead sample and it's not hard to see this being big once again this summer.

We are very excited to present our next release on Flatlife Records, this time it's a massive re-release of the 1993 Alici classic "Theme Of Roarr" including 3 brand new roof raising remixes.

The original version has been remastered and edited for maximum impact and its original incarnation has been doing damage to dancefloors over the globe for the last 27 years. Needless to say, this unbelievable TB-303 workout is for the purest acid lovers out there!

The first remix comes from Alici himself under his NEM3SI$ moniker! Here he delivers a straight up - techno remix - complete with a retro synth line, mystical vocals, raging acid lines and a break down to die for! A modern-day anthem - re incarnating a true classic for the next generation.

The next remix comes from the incredible Ad Nauseam who deliver a truly uncompromising powerful version; complete with their trademark head on sound. Working the 303 as if they came straight from the 90's - complete with a heavily distorted kick and crunching hi hats driving this mix home. Pure acid filth!

Last but not least on remix duties are the legendaries Chris Liberator & Geezer, serving a real "Stay Up Forever" sounding slice of acid goodness with a twist. Turning the original upside down with a straight for the kill vibe - designed to rock it UK warehouse style. Full of energy and drive, this version is a must have for any true underground fan!

The album 'Balance' by Frank Bretschneider & Taylor Deupree was originally released in 2002 by Mille Plateaux on CD only. The 9 tracks on 'Balance' are a perfect example for the aesthetics to arise within the Click & Cuts scene and (ambient-)glitch music movement of the late 90s and early 2000s.

The two masters of microscopic sounds and sine wave/white noise-based music constructed these seamlessly mixed pieces around rhythms and melodies, which grants the album plenty of dynamics. The wide variety of carefully chosen ambient sounds throughout the whole work endows 'Balance' warmth and intimacy.

The recordings are now available for the first time on vinyl within the KeplarRev series, presented in a new updated artwork based on the original layout with photographs by Taylor Deupree.

From the original press release in 2002:

"Balance is the first and so far only collaborative release from Frank Bretschneider (Berlin) and Taylor Deupree (Brooklyn). Both of these artists are no strangers to the ears of many; Taylor Deupree is one of New York's most vibrant electronic producers. From his early techno days as a member of Prototype 909 to his current status as one of N. America's key "microscopic" electronic composers and to add runs the prestigious 12K and LINE labels. Frank Bretschneider is a key member and founder of the prestigious Raster Music label, he has critically acclaimed releases under the names Komet and Produkt. It's easy to say that Frank Bretschneider has created some of the most influential spatial electronics of the late 90's.

Utilizing both artists keen ears for carefully crafted sounds, Balance blends the clean sine wave / white noise of Bretschneider with the defined grit of Deupree's granular synthesis. Realized entirely on Nord Modular synthesizers, Bretschneider and Deupree exchanged patch files through email and began constructing foundation loops. Bretschneider then created initial mixes of 9 songs and then sent them to Deupree who remixed and re-processed them. This digital exchange allowed for them to work using their own methods and aesthetic while combining the similarities of each others interests. The result is a looping and churning rhythmic work that is both synthetic, warm, dubby and tonally challenging. Thus Balance creates an engaging balance between the 2 artists aesthetics."

Renaissance recruit Tale of Us for the second the second edition of their quarterly-century celebrations.With the first release in this series occupying #1 status for 6 weeks last summer, Renaissance are back with the second instalment of their 25th Anniversary 'The Remix Collection' project. For the follow-up to Solomun's immense reworking of Age Of Love, Renaissance have bagged more Techno royalty in the shape of Italian duo Tale Of Us, to take on the huge task of remixing another iconic 90's classic.The track in question is the legendary 'Café Del Mar' by the 90's trance project, Energy 52. Much alike the previous remix by Solomun, it seems Tale Of Us also have their work cut out for them, as this track has had no shortage of remixes over the years. However, the popularity of 'Café Del Mar' is not simply reflected through its remix roster. Named after the iconic bar at the heart of the Ibiza clubbing scene, it was the soundtrack to the rave-culture movie, 'Human Traffic' in 1999. In addition to this 'Café Del Mar' later went on to be voted #1 in MixMag's 2001 '500 Best Tracks Ever' list.With this second remix, Tale of Us take the classic elements that made Café Del Mar such a huge track in the 90's, bringing them into the present-day with big licks of bass and a huge crescendo. Carrying forward the focus of the series, this remix refreshes the iconic track for a new generation of listeners. This release kicks off with a new and innovative version of Humanoid's highly ranked and major influential classic acid house cut, followed by a proper rave peak time slammer courtesy of Mike Dred. The B-side brings Luke Vibert's grinding acid funk rhythm to the table, plus the squelchy "Strunkelpotz" produced by the cult duo Air Liquide, resulting in a broader spectrum of acid-referencing styles with the same brain-melting effect!

Kevin Foakes (Openmind, DJ Food, Ninja Tune) created all the graphic work. Mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy Mastering and pressed on 180 gr vinyl. Stay tuned!

Allen Saei, better known as Aubrey, is a unique DJ and record producer. This funny nickname came from the 80s British cartoon series where the main character had this red nose like him on the first day at the new school after moving from Portsmouth to Cowplain.

Aubrey's career though, is not funny at all since he is considered a pioneer of the global tech-house scene. Like a true rock star, it seems he lived a kind of troubled life across Europe, with a reputation that has made him very well respected in the US also, already in the mid 90s.

He's always played the best clubs and festivals at the four corners of the world, produced some crucial records for labels such as Crayon, Ferox, Intelligence and his own Solid Groove. He's recorded under a few different monikers, including Alien Disco which is also the name of label he self-released this 2x12" on originally.

As the divide between rich and poor widens, as the planet suffers under the unending CO2 blanket our greediest humans create, as we build more walls, fences, borders, prisons and smart weapons......... Delsin turns its attention to the archives of one of the great early pioneers of Dutch techno - Eevo Lute Muzique. The label was founded in 1991 by Wladimir Manshanden and Stefan Robbers (who was already recording seminal early techno records as Terrace for Djax-Up-Beats). Channeling the inspiration of the Detroit originators and mixing it up with their own synth pop and new wave influences, Manshanden and Robbers (adopting the Florence alias) forged a bold aesthetic with Eevo Lute, both musically and visually. This was an early iteration of techno as listening music, with an emphasis on expression and narrative over dancefloor functionality, helped in no small part by Manshanden's striking poetry. This double set of remastered, reissued tracks gathers together the earliest Florence and Wladimir M. material, largely recorded between 1991 and 1994, across five discs - the definitive document of a treasured piece of Dutch techno history. Comes with inlay and liner notes by Oliver Warwick.

Joseph Capriati updates three classic tracks from friend and Napoli legend Rino Cerrone's label Rilis. Known as an artist whose identity is inseparable from his home city, it is fitting that Joseph would revisit the work of a Neapolitan techno icon for his own label REDIMENSION. Capriati takes the unhinged spirit of early 00s Napoli techno and adds his signature touch. A must-have for fans of both these artists. In Joseph's own words: 'In 2003 I went to my first techno party, at Old River Park in Napoli, where Rino Cerrone was playing. I was into house music at the time but that day the Techno music changed my life. I'm happy to present three reinterpretations of his tracks all these years later, having become close friends over the years and working together on many projects. Kenny Gino and Big Mike a.k.a. the Solid Gold Playaz both started playing records in the late 70's/early 80's. They both seemed to have a unique ability to program music to move the crowds that would come to the "red light" basement parties in their neighborhoods, and would later play some of the same clubs in the Milwaukee area, as well as doing similar radio shows at the same college. Having family from Chicago, who were DJ's and down with some of the big guys at the time, "heavily influenced our music and production styles" both say. "Living so close to the city, we could go down to all the legendary night spots. The Rainbow and the Warehouse, the Box, the Shelter... places where you could just feel the vibe."

Originally released by Michael Simon & Shahin Moshirian back in 1996 on Master Maximum Trance Traxx, Silverplate is considered one of the best Hard Trance releases of all time, with the vinyl release becoming highly sought after over the years.

Following Michael Simon giving us his permission, this massive Hard Trance Classic is being repressed, 23 years later, in collaboration between Simon Cutmore & Underground Music.

Although the original DATs were no longer available, this has been remastered from uncompressed CD source, and sounds fantastic. The label artwork pays homage to the original sleeve & centre label, and comes in a generic sleeve.
