Techno Vinyl New Releases - News

Romanian record label Understand has reached its third installment and it continues to deliver massively, in the same respect as the previous two.
Understand 003 'Arhiva EP' features two tracks, one on each side, from Romanian veteran Rhadoo.

The A side 'Cum Oare' is the more dancefloor oriented of the two, having a fast tempo hypnotic quality to it that is sure to keep many dancing in the early mornings. This track really grabs your attention to the organized chaos of intricately modulated sounds for the whole length.

The B side 'Geemac' is more stripped down and raw sounding, a welcome touch of deepness from Rhadoo. The tempo is lower but that just gives the track more room to breathe in between a thin melodic chord and a female chorus. As we've become accustomed with Rhadoo's unique works, his shortened claps and steady hats give this track enough groove to power it up. An abundance of filter sounds, noises and modulated voice keep you well into it.

This then is a masterpiece of the minimalist kind that keeps Rhadoo and this young record label at the forefront of underground electronic music with some much needed uniqueness that helps inspire many in times like these, when all we seem to hear is copy-cats and never ending rip-offs.

Saved welcomes Hector for the 2nd release of 2012. The Mexican artist presents his debut release for the label called "L.A KR3W" Possessing a disco infused groove, the track advances with drops layered with rocketing white noise and oscillating effects.

Over on the B side detroit legend stacey pullen serves up and amazing remix. Containing a grooving bass line and some of the original parts the record progresses with intelligent chords and trippy atmospheric layers.

Extensive Tastemaker DJ Promotion through Exclusive Promo

All tracks have been serviced directly to global tastemaker DJ's including Eric Prydz, John Digweed, Danny Howells, James Zabiela, Sasha, Laurent Garnier, Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Sander Kleinenberg to name but a few, over 200 DJ's in all.

Powell returns to Diagonal to present five new rhythm tracks that reaffirm the label's preoccupation with jagged No Wave and
forward motion, contemporary electronics. Shards of analogue noise splinter around the fractured movements of the broken
drum-work, evoking the off-kilter jams of Blurt and 23 Skidoo as much as the linear surge of cold, hard EBM.

They're back! Roberto Mozza and Erotex present their second Plattenbau-Music album. Enjoy Minimal-Techno at its best. Including new Pacman Song.

Aus Music's sister label Simple Records returns hot on the heels of their recent EP from UK production duo, Dusky. This time around, London-based Glaswegian, Sei A (a.k.a. Andy Graham) takes the helm. Sei A's profile has been building ever since the release of his debut album, .Editing Shadows,' in 2008 which received a rapturous reception throughout the music press. A steady stream of single releases followed, as well as a second LP (.White Rainbow'), each further developing his hybrid-House, techno and bass-heavy sound, helping to capture the attention of some of the best underground labels out there including Missive, Buzzin' Fly, Kompakt (with whom he has just released a very well received 12) and Turbo. On this new EP, Sei A's strong signature production values remain at the heart of the record, which melds deep and forward-thinking techno with rich textures and moody atmospherics. Swedish DJ, producer and Studio Barnhus boss, Axel Boman steps in to provide a superb remix, which brings the EP to a perfect close.

Romanian record label Amphia have just released their third vinyl and it is very far from your run of the mill record. The label owners, Vlad Caia & Cristi Cons, are showcased here in their collaborative form under the project name SIT.

A side 'Channeling' is a very pleasant listening experience full of depth and grace. The beat and bass take the center stage here while everything else is kind of muted and carefully filtered just waiting to be discovered. Unlike the A side, most of the drum elements are acoustic in nature. An element that is never hidden here is the complex array of melodic atmospherics. The three minute long outro gives you a chance to reflect upon some of the elements in greater detail and leaves you feeling cooled and relaxed.

B side 'Ex' has a very industrial, feel to it right off the bat. Aside from the hypnotic 4/4 beat we have a very playful bassline, bright reverbed synthetic drum elements that are carefully crafted in sound and well placed in the structure of the sound, giving the track a smooth, rolling feel. A detuned pad helps complete this beauty's slightly darker melodic character.

This is then a very effective record in the sense that it perfectly showcases what the dynamic duo are capable of, complex and mesmerizing at the same time.

Mihalis as the label owner is the 1st that will deliver the mix with teased throughout with samples from some of the latest materials plus some hot unreleased tunes. Seventy minutes in a disc that leaves you feelings that will remind you the good old days

Oliver Huntemann follows the release of his artist album 'Paranoia' with the next instalment of the PLAY! Series. The fourth edition is recorded live from the 'Roxanne Parlour' in Melbourne Australia, and is preceded by a new EP release. The PLAY! series

''For every search there are sightings. Behind every sighting there is a story'' After its brilliant first release in 2011 Staffan Linzatti delivers a great follow up on his own Searchlights label. Hypnotic stripped sci-fi techno tracks proving there is unknown life to be seen through the looking glass. Sci-fi techno tracks that tell a story. The 'Through The Looking Glass' inspiration for the artist is the concept of the examination of the relationship between the observer and the tools used for the observation. The result is probably some of the sickest techno tracks we've heard in a while! Going somewhere between Sahko and good old minimal Detroit techno from Mills and Hood. Very much recommended!

Mind Your Own Business (feat. The Lone Taxidermist & Alan Riggs) started out as a remix of Delta 5's post-punk classic, but soon took on a life of its own. Vocals are provided by London-based "howl-inducing music making machine" The Lone Taxidermist , aka Natalie Sharp. Delta 5's Alan Riggs does guitar, adding to this completely reworked version that makes full use of Ben's studio full of classic analogue synthesizers.
Sequence On (feat. Stephen Mallinder) - Recently Wrangler have been working with Stephen Mallinder (of renowned electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire). This partnership has already produced a remix that has appeared on the recently released John Foxx & the Maths album "The Shape of Things", and this single is the first track they have recorded together. Wrangler's scuffed-up and abrasive electronics provide the perfect foundation for the vocals, which will be instantly recognisable to anyone familiar with Cabaret Voltaire's past work.

As I Look To The Sky From The Surface Of The Water is the much awaited second album from GRIT, aka London producer Guy Brackley and it's found a perfect home on Meanwhile. The label is well placed to be an outlet for GRIT's explorations deep into the realm of deep techno, thanks to it's standing within the techno community and this album stands tall alongside contributions from the likes of Murmur, Sven Weismann, Bvdub and Conforce. Opening with the expansive title track, GRIT sets the tone for what to expect with the ripple of syncopation shifting in and out of focus amidst the viscous layers of foggified luminescent ambient texture. Across the subsequent five tracks this tone is retained throughout as Brackley playfully explores the inventive sparks that arise when rhythm rubs with texture, with the smudged out subaqueous "Safer Retreat" a real highlight.

After remixing Idriss D's smash-hit 'Cross My Mind', Lausanne's Mirko Loko is back on Memento with a superb release taking us on a journey of delicate melodies and aethereal atmospheres, showing his unique talent in creating brilliant song structures and compositions.

And as if that wasn't enough, Cadenza's boss and musical master Luciano graces the Italian label with a personal take on Mirko's track , once more highlighting his unrivalled vision in shaping emotional soundscapes and exquisitely fine sonic moods.

'Gipsy-Q''s rhythm is lively and mesmerizing, with bubbly percussions and wispy bells interspersed with uplifting bright sounds.
At various points, a bass chord progression cuts through, giving the feeling of a dream-like fortune teller's prayer moving in a persistent motion.

Luciano slows it down just a bit and designs a funkier bass line coupled with trippy aqueous drumming and out of time tribal choirs.
Rootsy and raw snare backbeats go hand in hand with swinging scat singings, and a rousing vagabond gitano feeling flows throughout the record.
The stream of ancestral rituals, the spirit of travellers who wander the lands and reach far away places is the inspiration behind this wonderful piece of work.
A folk ballad in its true original meaning, this one is made for the souls that roam the earth.

Two months only into the new year, Mirko Loko and Luciano give us another excellent example of their eclectic taste, already establishing this ep as a standout in Memento's 2012 discography.
