Three heavyweights are featured on the next installment of the Truncate remix series. Heiko Laux revisits the Truncate classic 'Dial' with his deep, stripped down rendition. Ray Kajioka remits his interpretation of 'Wave 1' with his deep, melodic touch. Lastly, Steve Rachmad aka Sterac delivers his touch to two remixes of the track '30' - one stripped version as Sterac alongside one electro version as Sterac Electronics. Techno tools for everyone.

Spanish techno master Reeko makes his mark on Detroit Underground with a release exploring the darker facets of humanity in mesmerizing fashion, with rhythm and drone taking equal importance. "Lovers and Bandits" sets side A off with a brutal broken march, hard kicks building slowly into caverns of sonic noise. "BDSM" twists the sounds of pleasure and pain into an endless dark delay, leading you to the edge and right into "Hard Sex Club", roiling with indecipherable voices and a hovering synth build that teases but never quite strikes.


Side B straightens the beat with "Slaughter", a searing background noise underpinning an evolving rotation of menace that pushes the beats forward into a pit of noise and sludge. "Sex With God" is a fierce techno rhythm, wet, crunchy, and percussive without the ubiquitous kick drum, building to a crescendo of heat and buzz. Finally, "Submissive Behavior" is a massive paranoid drone, prickly with hunger and menace. On "We Are Bandits", Reeko strips down his explorations of sound and texture to the barest essences, making for an unsettling and intriguing listen. Graphic design from The Designers Republic. Label head Sinfol steps up for the third edition of Anagram's vinyl-only series. With a title that refers to the hectic process of evolution that one goes through from time to time, the 'Personal Change EP' marks a clear shift in Sinfol's sound. Limited to 200 hand-stamped copies.

Austrian hardware-only liveact Anml Mthr presents his 4th release on Florian Meindl's FLASH Recordings imprint and counts to the core artists of the label.

Heavily influenced by the Vienna and Berlin Techno scene of the 90s he was a regular visitor to Tresor Club as well as a shining raver at Gazometer Vienna.

His productions under different monikers in the genre underground dubstep and hardcore can be traced back until the late 90s, but with Anml Mthr he found a home to combine his rough subbass with driving and chellanging acid lines and synth sequences.

His unique hardware setup consists of a huge modular synthesizer as well as classic boxes like the 303 of course, but also modern boutique synthesizers and effect boxes which he performs all in one take to record his tracks.

Having released his last fantastic EP Melodius Hubbub a year previous, ED1999 is back with his newest project, named Moving Glow on Porpax records, illustrated by Graphic Designer Oliver SPERL, representing Belgiums best talent. Remaining serious in sentiment but developing his sound, ED1999 uses elements of light to contrast with the dark. As his previous EP followed the theme of interpreting pathways, this EP isn’t all too much different, as it captures the autonomous and excitable nature of light. Even though the speed of light is the fastest most constant definitive, ED1999 manages to bend, warp and interpret light itself through each track’s alternate paces and elements.

That makes it no surprise that Beam of Light starts us off with a full-body feeling of suspense. His classic momentous techno beat with a gratifying and anchoring kick drives the track the entire way through. Then, as the title foreshadows, the glimmers of light - in the form of synthesisers - manage to push their way through the cracks and eventually bleed out until they’re completed absorbed by the beats and become one.

Unknown Luminescence is nothing short of a fun, intense and gyrating episode; in true groovy techno fashion, it’s designed to get any listener’s shoulders swinging and body’s sweating. The repetition of the light ambient melody throughout gives the sense of a far off signal call, drawing in techno lovers from far and wide to enjoy the experience in synchronicity.

Darker again with more sinister undertones, Flamboyant Ray is an assertive approach to techno, yet cloaked in mystery thanks to its muffled kick drums and reverbs. As a more consistent track meant to maintain intensity, it’s style and confidence hardly alters throughout its duration.

The final track on the EP, Photonic Energy, embodies the environment of electrical currents swimming through dark and damp corridors; reacting and gurgling as electricity meets moisture. Distant murmurs give the effect that the space is alive and every inch of existence is thanks

THEM records welcomes back Hiroaki Iizuka for the its fifth outing. Having supplied the 'The Run' as the labels first record, here Iizuka doubles its play time and track listing length in his stunning Voodoo EP. The extra time offered allows Iizuka to flex more of his versatile style. THEM as a label sets out to eschew a Techno norm largely made up of a traditional 4 x 4 sound. Having come from a London background, the curating of the label gives a nod to the rave sounds of the Capital - especially D&B, Garage, Breakbeat Hardcore and Grime. That is to say of course along with its characteristic aesthetic of Horror and The Gothic.
In Iizuka THEM found a common ground: Based in Hokkaido, Japan, Iizuka does not share the same London influences, yet shares their base values and thrust. Common themes of his sound involve broken and syncopated beats, and a rave energy. This is what lead him to being the first and prime THEM stable artist. Voodoo EP showcases this breadth of Iizuka's style, from tracks that could easily fit into any Grime set, such as Primitive Acid, to the more melodic tones of Floating Point, in which Hiroaki guides THEM into previously untrodden ground for the imprint.

Bodymind sets the route, its muscular rhythm bearing fertile ground for sweeping pads and a lively arpeggiator. As it marches on, the beat's tense lows and soaring highs combine to create dance floor euphoria.
On the flip side, Wave Knowledge takes us to a deeper place. Distorted stabs and playful bleeps glide around an embracing bass line, while a mystical pad and subconscious hum look for peace of mind.

We welcome Lebanese born, Stockholm based techno DJ & producer Simon Haydo in our midst. This exceptional talent has already made waves with his own label, DEM Records and the infamous Studio Barnhus label. He delivers 4 trademark hypnotic little monsters for BALANS. Classic & retro sounding tracks. An offering that is dynamic yet feels contemporary at the same time. It's Simon's strongpoint to be able to create a lot of tension, suspense and dynamics with only a few elements, very much like old masters such as Daniel Bell and Robert Hood.

After a two-year hiatus, the Skins white label series is back with SKINS003. Rooted in the same hypnotic, driving dub techno aesthetic that had previous releases garnering the attention of DJs such as Jane Fitz, Viers, and Chekov, Skins’ latest expands his sonic palette with some new flavours.

A loping, four to the floor groove morphs into eyes-down jungle on the A-side track ‘The Long Wait’, while on the flip, ‘Police State’ weaves introspective techno with excerpts from an interview with Cornel West discussing the topic of police brutality and protest. Following the popularity of the drum tool on the label’s first record, the B-side finishes on a percussive beat that simmers with tension. Together, these three cuts comprise a reflective, dynamic record made for DJs who know how to craft a musical journey.

All proceeds from the record will go to charities supporting black communities.

Daft Punk's 'ALIVE 2007' set, which won 2 Grammy Awards in 2009 (Best Electronic Album and Best Electronic Single categories) and was previously only available on CD and digital, will be released for the first time as a double vinyl with a triple gatefold sleeve.

Derived from their live performance at Bercy on 14 June 2007, this album was originally published the same year on November 19th. Through this amazing live experience, Daft Punk manipulated and reworked their established material, transposing and deconstructing the structures of their studio tracks.

A limited edition of 'ALIVE 2007' will be released at the same time, in a special box including the album on 2 solid white vinyls, plus a vinyl bonus (Side A: the show's encore (human after all / together / one more time (reprise) / music sounds better with you) /Side B : 'ALIVE 2007' pyramid logo etched), a 52 pages book (pictures taken during the shows), a slipmat and a download card.

'ALIVE 1997' is also being reissued separately. Recorded in 1997 in Birmingham during their first European tour, a few months after the release of 'Homework', this first live testimony was released in 2001. 45 minutes of non-stop live mixing, featuring the band's first standard tracks (Da Funk, Rollin' & Scratchin'...) along with those techno-electronic explosions unique to Daft Punk!

J.C.'s "Farewell for Walls" gives us three well crafted original tracks plus a remix by Hector Oaks.

It starts with an atmospheric breakbeat work-out followed by a more pounding version by OAKS/KAOS boss Hector.

The B-side continues where the remix stopped, upping the energy and sticking to a 4x4 pattern while retaining breaky elements and chopped vocals.

Following on from his standout album on Nite Grooves, Jozef K is back with more of his underground brilliance on Lost City Archives Vol.3.

It is not the honor that you take with you, but the heritage you leave behind. We don't have every day a rework of a classic techno milestone on a label that tries to push the boundaries of the future, but this time is the time. Thomas Schumacher represents one of those artists that was there since the very beginning, and he is the proof of how an artist can evolve in many ways during the years, but always been devoted to techno, and the meaning of it. 'When I Rock' was played all over the world for decades but now gets a brand new rework by label boss Emmanuel, and the creator itself Thomas Schumacher. The record has a B/W sleeve cover design by Caitlin Schumacher on 12".

The 70-minute mix traverses a wide range of tempos, styles and eras with the grace of an experienced selector who distinguishes herself based on technical skill, clever methodology and a unique vision. Old-school house records mingle with references to rave and Italo, but the set isn't confined to a specific era or style — besides her own.
"I wanted it to be representative of how I sound in the club while incorporating new original music," Emerson says. “I thought of it as a good opportunity to summarize the last few years of DJing for me and share my original productions, covers and remixes.”
Avalon's DJ-Kicks is a confident and competent summation of what makes her one of the underground's most in-demand DJs. The diverse selections are tied together by her own edits, remixes and productions. New material bookends the mix: she opens the mix with her own voice featured more prominently than ever before on a bold, fresh and playful cover of The Magnetic Fields' "Long Forgotten Fairytale." At the end, she shuts it down with her "14th Life" remix of Austra's "Anywayz," which reimagines the song not as a dancefloor tool, but rather in a distinctly Avalon flavor of pop.

Jeff Mills continues the Every Dog Has Its Day series under his Millsart moniker with his second edition of 2020. Following Vol. 5 (AX 085LP), Vol. 6 is a double LP set with nine tracks.

Adriana Lopez and Klara Lewis takes the reins on 2nd of five remix 12”s for vintage gear by Pär Grindvik, boss of Stockholm Ltd and half of the Aasthma duo with Peder Mannerfelt.

Barcelona’s Lopez reworks ‘Front Row’ from 2017’s ‘The Game’ 12” with a brooding, hulking, monotone techno churn, leaving Klara Lewis to render ‘London Marble’ from 2017’s ‘Aged’ EP as a vast cloud of gaseous ambient harmonics that crystallise into a beautiful frost of icy ambient noise.

Sissel Wincent and Anthony Linell (Abdulla Rashim, Ulwhednar) have their way with Pär Grindvik’s catalogue in the 3rd of five remix 12” for the boss of Stockholm Ltd and half of the Aasthma duo with Peder Mannerfelt.

Chasing up her 12”s for Peder Mannerfelt’s label and remixes of fever Ray and HTDW, Sissel Wincent is at her best in a convulsive rework of ‘Magnolia’ full of pointillist electro rhythm and subtly reverberating, doomy atmospheres with a poignant finale. The artist better known as Abdullah Rashim, Anthony Linell follows with a superb, subaquatic techno spin on ‘Ensemble’.

Joseph Capriati updates three classic tracks from friend and Napoli legend Rino Cerrone's label Rilis. Known as an artist whose identity is inseparable from his home city, it is fitting that Joseph would revisit the work of a Neapolitan techno icon for his own label REDIMENSION. Capriati takes the unhinged spirit of early 00s Napoli techno and adds his signature touch. A must-have for fans of both these artists. In Joseph's own words: 'In 2003 I went to my first techno party, at Old River Park in Napoli, where Rino Cerrone was playing. I was into house music at the time but that day the Techno music changed my life. I'm happy to present three reinterpretations of his tracks all these years later, having become close friends over the years and working together on many projects. He allowed me to choose whichever tracks from his incredible, timeless Rilis discography and here are the results. Two new versions of Rino Cerrone originals, and one of a Gaetano Parisio remix.

Out of the ashes of Raceway Recordings and Racetrax, rises the new label from Sterling Moss - Rebeltek. With well over 100 tracks out on vinyl, Sterling decided it was time to start his own 12inch project again, so 2014 sees rise to the Rebeltek Alliance - an infusion of stomping 303 inspired Techno beats, soon to hit the streets.

Having played in every continent on earth and with releases on over 50 different record labels, Sterling is using his vast musical knowledge gained through his travels and productions to harness an energy for Rebeltek that is both unique and compelling, whilst retaining an counter-culture attitude direct from London town that will drive the label forward.

The debut track 'Don't Fuck Around' has been road tested at the massive UK Techno event 'London Underground United' and subsequently received extremely positive attention. This special first release will be available on limited edition gold vinyl and will be sure to be a collector's item for years to come.

REBELS FOR LIFE

Troy Gunner continues to strengthen his new imprint 'GUNNER' with a second self-released title.

Having had 001 hotly-tipped by the likes of RA, DJ Mag and Mixmag - plus a plethora of DJ support from Hodge, Zenker Brothers, John Osborn, Carl Craig and Moxie to name but a few, Gunner stays firmly on track with another trio of armoured UK-Techno tracks packed with chilly atmospherics and gnarly drums.

Berlin producer Troy Gunner marks a new step in an ascendant career with the introduction of his very own imprint. Simply titled 'GUNNER', this project will be predominantly vinyl-focused and will act as a platform for his own productions as well selected peers. It kicks off with 3 of his own tracks - all of which carrying a chilly quality whilst bearing Troy's distinctive blend of stiff drums, heady atmospheres and muscular low end.

For the third chapter of Refined Productions Aleksandra Grünholz aka We Will Fail delivers her third full length album entitled Dancing on her recently launched label with Jakub Mikolajczyk, head of MonotypeRec label and MonotypePressings. Here she tells the story:

'Taking a break from rationality, my first thoughts about the theme of this album were about the night, when our sight is limited and thoughts are corrupted by fatigue. I don't dance anymore, I don't party, I don't let myself go. Some time ago that part of life slipped away from me. This album is like silently entering into a place you shouldn't be in. A lot of rave inspired sounds were used on the album, dreamy pads, arpeggios, simple melodic structures; but this album is not easy and simple.

As head of a graphic design studio in Warsaw, last year was very hard for me, the amount of work started to overwhelm me; I started to feel stupid and possessed by the work, this is how the tracks 'Very Urgent' and 'Economic Maladies' were born. While the track 'Reason' is about losing rationality and how easy it is to do.

'Put Your Hands Up in the Air' encompasses the rave. It's also a kind of question, can music itself tell a story Very often in EDM or trance music there is a story and I like to call it catharsis. A moment, when the beat slows down and melody/pads become solo. I tried to extract this moment, without adding drops and aggressive rhythms.

'So Who's the Man' is about regaining the power, slowly but consequently. This album is a about feeling bold, monstrous and strong. Like looking insolently into someones eyes. You have to be patient with this one, because it builds up slowly. If you listen only for a fragment you miss the whole idea.

'Beasts from the East' was inspired by the thought of being a small peace loving person in a chaotic world that is dominated by stupidity.

The track '2018' epitomises the rave, but more complicated. Each of the layers are a but simplistic and could construct a dance track, but as there are so many sounds simultaneously, it can become disturbing in the perfect way.

'Diving in Plastic' was fit for the last track, I didn't want the album to have a perfect conclusion, I wanted to leave the listener hanging and ready for more.'

London via NYC Chupacabras has been making a name for himself through the years as a pillar of the underground. The story starts in Barcelona during the early-2000s DJing and becoming a resident at the famed Nitza Club, it's here Chupacabras came into contact with the likes of I-F, Legowelt, and Marco Passarani among others thus immersing himself in the sounds of Hague electro, Chicago House, Italo, and Detroit Techno. An integral part of the early L.I.E.S. Records crew we are pleased to release his latest ep, a four track Hague influenced affair. Slammin drums, raw acid lines and razor sharp synths and electro beats prevail through the ep, a must for the floor. Check!
