Boy was this worth the wait: Steve Rachmad's first full solo contribution on Kanzleramt was on our wish-list for at least a decade. Just in time to start our 25th anniversary series "STERAC - 11" is mastered and ready. Steve is showing all his experience and history so masterfully, that you almost can touch glimpses of the future.

"11" is about the meaning of the number 11 and what figures it stands for.

It has been two years since the first compilation on the Various Artists series (PEVA) of Pi Electronics and the concept has stayed true to its aim: to present a coherent selection of the label's favourite collaborators from the roster and parties over the years. Bringing together Greek and international artists, this compilation opens with a 10 minute recording by the combined forces of Orphx and JK Flesh (Justin Broadrick), from a live performance recorded in Amsterdam. Meanwhile we also showcase the resurfacing of Vofa, the joint project of producers Sawf and ANFS. There is a variety of options in this 13 tracks release; from the raw and harsh textures of An-i and New Frames, to Lycurgus live drum set recordings, Kondaktor's African percussive electronics and Sarin's EBM infused techno. Some more techno interpretations, such as the hypnotic moods of Stave and Fragedis, or the more punchy sounds of Restive Plaggona and Poison Green. These shape the full picture of this second Pi Electronics compilation titled "Divide & Rule".

Victor first released on Drumcode last year on their most recent edition of the famous A-Sides Vol.7 compilation with his colossal track ‘Pulso’. Victor has been relentless when it comes to producing absolutely huge sounding tracks, which are heavily suited to the big club room vibe. This May he steps up for his debut EP on Drumcode with ‘Nimbus’.

The title track ‘Nimbus’ marked an important milestone in his life, his arrival to Berlin, his new home. Due to the lack of studio space and set up, he made Nimbus entirely with headphones and laptop. A piercing track with a punctuated kick drum that cuts through the mix, alongside some industrial tones which build an eerie tension. A track that really sits on the darker side of the progressive techno world.

Victor explains that this release is “very much a mix of old and new” representing two stages of his life. ‘Unveil’ was a track he produced back in Sao Paulo, when day dreaming of his move to Europe. A chunky low end combined with big percussion that makes it more of a heady introspective track on the release. It most definitely shows a more experimental side Victor but is welcomed and makes for a thunderous dancefloor track.

Dawl on Art of Dark

We follow up this year with a strong vinyl EP by Portuguesetorrero DJ Dextro. His name is cruising in the techno scenesince nearly two decades (also with the alias - Redkone ) andfeatures a number of releases on labels like Suara, Toolroom, Nervous or Naked Lunch. Moreover he's the label owner ofTanira Records and Codein Music, and creates event conceptslike the Red Room Sessions.

Freak goes around straightly with jacked up techno andturns directly into the mind. The arpeggiated and specklesschord defines the track obviciously and thrills it up to a hypnotising assessed master of ceremonies.

Second track on the A-side is called - Sinapse and has a touchof more spherical techno, but deeply ingoing as well. A wideatmosphere is generated by winding pads and intertwininglayered strings, which resolve in an acid peak.

The other side starts with - Modulator - an intense trip ofshuffled and chopped elements. Evolving sounds bringing an enormous drive into the game and rises a vigorous tension.

Ghost In A Shell consists as well of nicely modulated arpsounds and induce a proper drive. The emerging tale flips intowarmly glitching parts which turns the mind crazy andcompletes this highly potential release.

The VOITAX label project enters a new level with this cinematic three track EP by an upcoming producer every electronic enthusiast should keep an eye on. The seventh release features noisy grinding patterns cut up with well mangled movie quotes which find their climax in rough EBM influenced breaks. It’s no doubt that given some of her last releases, Monika Kruse is an artist who enjoys sharing thoughts, ideas and creative processes with other artists in the form of collaborations. Many of her joint projects with Pig&Dan have, over the years, proved to be incendiary slices of contemporary dance music.

‘Actually, I didn't think I had time to get into the studio to do a collab, but I wasn't happy with a track I started. So I sent it to Timmo, to see what he could add to it and here we are! He gave the track some elements which I think took it to the next level and I loved it!” says Monika.

This year, she invites Bulgarian techno producer Timmo to join her, fresh from his success with Drumcode last year with his ‘Meteorite’ EP. Timmo, barely in his twenties has achieved a great deal in the last two years. “I asked Timmo to do a remix for Clint Stewart on Terminal M 2 years ago, it became such an anthem track. I still play it now” adds Monika.

‘Violet’ is a tough melodic tech workout which combines the best of Terminal M’s history and the passions and youthful exuberance of the Bulgarian wunderkind. Opening with a bright melody, we are quickly plunged into workman-like drums and bubbling synths. Riding waves of suspense, the synths guide you along to the next big moment as layers of tension bring us neatly to the ambience of the main break. Arms aloft, the drop is mesmerising; the kick powerful and alluring.

Long time techno soldier Clark Davis hails from Hamburg, Germany, where he runs his parties and label District 66 with his friend Markus Schwarz. We all met back in March 2015 during a Wall Music party in Hamburg. That's almost 4 years ago... Since then, we regularly exchanged demos back and forth, waiting to find the perfect tracks that would fit our common vision of techno. That time is now: Clark Davis delivers a piece of wax that defines his view of electronic music, influenced by the American techno scene. Dig in!

Jay Lumen returns on his Footwork imprint with a very unique Acid Techno loaded dance floor monster.

These days it's almost impossible to find people on the streets who are not constantly tuning in with their smartphones or tablets. Or we see friends sitting around a table who are not actually talking to each other but tapping theirs phones and surfing the web. Jay was inspired by this current problem of the digital era.
Jay Lumen: "Wake up people and watch the real world, the nature around you, make real connections, relationships, friendships, families, talk to each other in the real world.... and go to a Techno party to dance your head off..."

Connected' drives on Jay's distinctive 303 sounds combined with a fat kick and bass-line. While the raw energy creates a throwback of old school Acid Techno it clearly resonates a fresh new school sound.

Mantra Techno And Cinematic Textures Opening Up Rooms.

UX 001 is a conscious effort to push buttons and turn rotary encoders whilst using ears to monitor the results. Three tracks all with different durations and sounds in each of them, it's deep stuff.

The E.P. opens with 'Compulsive', a slow minimal dub anthem like only Myk can deliver, full of positive vibes. Cut in 45 rpm for maximum audio damage.

'Sacrifice' is a much tougher big room affair, bringing sinister synths, dark voices and rolling snares on top of a sub bass heavy drum kick.

In 'Group Cohesion', Myk drops an acid line, dripping and tingling down your spine like there is no tomorrow. One of these tracks where less is more.

As part of the third volume of Peter Van Hoesen's Uncovered 2008-2018 retrospective comes a four-track vinyl edition. A selection compiled out of unreleased tracks, sketches and edits from his live shows transformed into an essential and club ready 12" with fierce techno from the highest order.

Telemorph006 represents two different electrical sketches of another reality.

For the 7th vinyl release we joined our forces with a renowed german duo, TWCOR. Björn and Markus develop their sound from the inspiration of everyday influences, which are augmented and brought to life by their unique set up. Upfront and unreservedly ‘The E-Street‘ captures the soul of eccied warehouse club culture with a thunderous, addictive chord melody from the word go. Belly-deep, sweltering bass made for sweaty body masses. 'Sfääri' takes a serene, almost dream house turn, side-chained lo-fi pads and twisting, turning acid bass.

Flip the plate for more gutteral, darker acid techno - like the head-rattling 'UglyTruth'. Disturbing broken-machine sounding hook looms over bubbling accented acid squelch, while the 303 abuse continues on 'Uprising'; an eerie vocal sample reminiscent of classic Chicago jack tracks, with driving hi-hats and a psychedelic sliding acid line.

10 years ago the29nov films was started in a small village in Southern Germany. Thousands of videos and millions of views later Sebastian Kökow and Kevin Paschold have become one of the most sought after video producers in electronic music - mostly for industrial-leaning techno, but also for all other kinds of electronic music.
To celebrate their 10th anniversary the29nov has finally gathered a few of their favourite artists and they all have contributed to a compilation, which will be released on 2 double 12"es, one out in November 2016, the other one to follow soon.

Argentinian duo Dying & Barakat return to Knotweed with a wonderful 4-tracker to warm up your winter. They keep developing their unique sound, blending the darker shades of techno with the warmer sides of house, always with a perceptible happiness oozing from each track.

‚Sandcastles', ‚Timbuktu' and ‚The Back Door' are just three of many tracks that were produced by Dennis Ferrer & Jerome Sydenham aka Ferrer & Sydenham Inc. and caused serious damage on the dancefloor by that time. After more than 10 years, Ferrer & Sydenham Inc. return for a one-track single release only on a more darker and techno'ish side.

French producer Leghau is back on Knotweed, taking his sound design craft one step further.

With dream-like space patterns on the A side and metallic guitar-like driven sounds on the B side, he delivers four tracks where the tension is constantly building throughout.

Soma favourite Mark Henning makes a welcome return to the label after last year's
smash, Titan, with the jacking Joyride EP. Mark has been busy in the studio this last while
and drops 4 perfectly made, machine based weapons for your aural delight.

Title track Joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with sci­fi sweeps
and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove
with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden.

Sideways completes the A side of the release and gets going right from the beginning.
Pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted
synth hook lashes over the top with Henning playing with the synths LFO to creative
effect.

Dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909
beat. Henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work
as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early Berlin/Detroit dub techno
crossovers.

Mars Attacks closes of the EP and does so in particularly fine fashion. A more broken
beat affair this time from Henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare
of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

Mark is never one to disappoint with his Soma EPs and with Joyride, he delivers 4 varied,
top drawer tracks.

Michal Jablonski is back on Secret Keywords and this time with a solo EP, with remixes by the French producer AWB and the Argentinian duo YYYY

"Chimaera" is the first vinyl release of the Berlin based label, composed by 3 original tracks and 2 remixes whitch will hit the bull's-eye.

"In Without," the track that opens the record, is an impact noise of one-minute and forty-seven full of abstractionism and anxiogenous power.

"Left Object" the track number 2 of A side follows the style of the hypnotic, dark and convoluted melodies typical of the Polish producer.
 
"Chimaera", the track which gives the title to the whole record, is pure energy from the first to the last note. Marked beat, enchanting rhythm and remarkable acid nuances define it as the perfect track for the dancefloor.

The remix of "Chimaera" on the B side by YYYY is determined by a stronger industrial - less melodic and more aggressive sound than the one of the original track. Pure power for body and mind of the listener.

"Left Object" AWB Remix is the track that closes the entire EP, and is outlined by the typical style of the French producer. Elegant sound assembled by a refined use of synths. Apocalyptic mood taste as hypnotic as physical and concrete.

PE012 is a label friends & family junction, a 12” summoning the distant yearning of otherworldly sonic release. Ciel and D. Tiffany unite as new collaboration Psychedelic Budz, long time friends who share a mutual affinity for prog and a desire for elevated states; offering Faerie Stomp, it’s internal reworking plus remixes from Ludwig A.F. and Adam Pits. The aural synergy of the record is laced throughout, tripped out spooky tech-trance, evocative dark imagery conjured at different speeds and energies. Like most of the Planet Euphorique catalogue, these tracks can duly be heard echoing throughout the night sky through forest or bush, as bodies flicker and move in hypnotized, unleashed states.

The A side; the Origin Mix of Faerie Stomp and the Enchanted Mix by the Psychedelic Budz themselves sets the tone; tweaked atmospherics and field recordings, scurrying textures creating rhythmic collage. Drama and tension build through drones and bubbling 303 lines, villainous cackling and delay consuming the introduction in anticipation as the track develops into a stomping four to the floor promenade. Snares roll and chop in dizziness, encouraging your surrender to the lucid melodic synth lines, twirling in transfixion. The alternative mix could almost fit entwined into the original, slightly murked and more rhythmically rigid with metallic snares cutting through the denser timbre. Overall an expanded aura and creative opportunity for the deejays and those inhibiting dance space.

Flip to the B side for the remixes, firstly Ludwig A.F.’s Haunted rendition. Keeping the eerie attitude in check he morph’s Faerie Stomp into a bombastic bass heavy club anthem, playing with build ups and stripping back elements for effect, the track is always propelling forward, shuffling shakers and scratches making it impossible not to move with it. Adam Pits also maintains the essence of the original whilst offering a whole new translation for his Undergrowth Mix, gargling baselines and whip crack percussion - buckle up for a hard and fast trip to new heights. Sweet relief is brought from floating stabs and melodic subtlety, softer break chops rolling over the brutal low end before the end of the record dissolves down to the encompassing swirling modulation and charging drum work.

Four different devilish dance workouts for this unprecedented time. The power lies in the mesmerization. Lose yourself to the supernatural environment in the sonic texture.

There is a dichotomy within the very definition of the word Vault...on the one hand, a vaulted ceiling is typical in many sacred places of worship, forming an arch that is perfect for a choir to sing their praises to a higher power. On the other hand, one must go into a deep underground chamber or vault in order to unearth rare treasures only found through deliberate exploration.

Strathy's new release embodies this split personality with four tracks that climb to the roof tops with euphoric synths, only to plunge down into turbulent catacombs. ''Space Nation'' begins with a static radio transmission coiled around a cluster of drums ready for lift off. ''Duruti March'' takes us down a granular path full of dense texture and grit and doesn't let go. ''Arggg'' comes barreling through at a breakneck pace and just as you settle into the raucous, galloping groove, a radiant choir chimes in as a counterbalance to the chaos. ''Modern Slave'' lets us breath and gives room for a slightly twisted vocal to meander around a broken beat including the hint of hopeful yet melancholic synths and a bag of symbols seemingly being dragged across a concrete floor.
Strathy weaves these elements together in a multifaceted ep that is sure to challenge the body and mind and leave ecstatic dancers wanting to dig deeper into the Vault.

Neil Landstrumm new form as a sexless gas was taken in response to the decline of need for physical form in the facebook era of humanity. Brain Rays facilitated this transformation at his Bizarre Rituals event that he holds in the South West of the Brexshit UK in 2017. From this alchemic fusion of sexless gas and thermal energy was born the Dark Magus project of 1980s 12-bit spell casting and is now manifest in this mini-LP relaunching the Scandinavia label on 1990s techno based fame. Alternatively Landstrumm and Brain Rays can be found on a capitalist-disaster product market stall in Totnes most Tuesdays renting out knives and forks and tents to post-Brexit Tory victims.

The genie of Wadi Rum, found by Brain Rays and held captive in a small perfume bottle found on the streets of Salisbury to be freed only once returned to his native desert in Jordan by the mythical Hans of Pllazoor. This 12' is their communication to attract and seek Hans of Pllazoor and form a trilogy of cunts to make the epic journey by ancient Landcruiser to the valleys of Wadi Rum to the source of Dark Magus itself. Answers will be found as to why people STILL vote Tory in Britain and why a racist curse was placed over the moist islands in 2016.


What do/did you want to express with this record

How it feels to be a sexless gas in post_Brexshit Britain on a mission to release the genie of Wadi Rum with the help of Hans of Pllazoor. The mood was alchemic 12-bit spell-casting from deep inside the fantasy portal and the state of mind was careless panic.

How did you record it / technique / material

Brain Rays invited Neil Landstrumm to contribute tracks via the fantasy portal . Unfortunately lacking fingers, the sexless gas of Neil Landstrumm (ghost of the 90s) simply vaporised the material and breathed it through a hollow tube towards the portal. Brain Rays, who has fingers, simply gathered the gas and boom!, the vapour was mixed into a perfect holofane file.


Which influences / scenes did you want to represent

Brain Rays and Landstrumm wanted to represent disaster based capitalism and promote their weekly Brexshit market stall renting knives and forks and tents to Tory victims in the lovely town of Totnes in Devon. We exorcise evil Brexshit spirits. Influence was also taken from the 'Powder Exhibition' and several packs of Beef Rings. We represent 'Tales of Immoral Spell Casting' in 2019.

The Future -

Belgium's Thomas Moon has made his own sound in electronic music. Playing in his career in more than 15 countries in 5 different projects, he now produced for the first time a SOLO album with his new project. Born in Belgium, he grew up with the Belgian sound, infused with grunge and rock until the "new beat" and "dance " took over the world. He started producing electronic music being influenced by the most interesting music genres, from hard techno to classical music. With over fifteen years of DJ experience, he is eager to enter the club at all times and that shows in his eclectic performances behind the desk . Thomas Moon played at some of the bigger trance festivals in all of Europe, Israel and as far as Brazil.

NCZ007, 'In Memory Of,' brings together Stanislav Tolkachev, VSK, JoeFarr and ONTHEGROUND for a 4 track compilation. Each artist has contributed a track to the general theme of 'broken techno,' with outstanding, stylistically diverse results.

'Ant Parade' by Stanislav Tolkachev opens the record with a hypnotic march. Over a gently lulling rhythm, a bright melody repeats over an eerie and disorientating soundscape. VSK's 'Blue Snake' ratchets up the energy, with skittering percussion and tense, murky bleeps propelling the track frantically onwards.

Nicz records owner Myztical teams up again with Diagnetic Origin as ONTHEGROUND on 'Interstellar Gardening.' A sonorous melody emerges from rattling beats, serving up a heady communion of intangible, elusive euphoria and melancholy. JoeFarr concludes the record with 'I am a Visitor.' Staccato kicks and fuzzed out synths stretch and twist, while a dislocated, brash voice announces itself to the listener.

Broken English Club presents the second part in the White Rats trilogy, a full-length double vinyl album that focuses heavily on the dancefloor with droning techno, head banging acid and cinematic synth noise. This album continues Oliver Ho’s musical journey, fusing techno with industrial post punk and textures of death metal producing a unique electronic vision. Ideas and influences that went into the writing of the album was the dark soul of Wormwood scrubs prison in west London and the obsessions in the JG Ballard book Crash. White Rats II stands as a relentless and personal portrait of techno and all the things that feed into the creation of it.

Elad (aka Elad Magdasi) Debuts The "rainbow" Special Spot Series With A Diverse Meditation On Drum Machine Mania. Opening The Full Spectrum Of Fundamental Techno, The Elad Ep Uses Undulating Colour And Light To Highlight Techno's Capacity For Pure Revelry.

The mysterious musical group ,debuts on the Faith Disciplines label with an album of industrial music with a variety of ethnic influences, voices and traditional instruments fused with powerful rhythms

Made up of six tracks but presented as two ~17-minute pieces, the record meanders through warm chordscapes, glistening synths and loose live percussion, weaved together with field recordings and ambience.

Renaissance are proud to announce the arrival of Fur Coat to the label.

‘Hurricane’ is the first single to be taken from their upcoming album, ‘Polyphony’ (due October), and features the vocal talents of Running Pine who came to prominence last year on Mind Against’s ‘Trust My Eyes’.

The original version of ‘Hurricane’ also marks a double first as it sees the Fur Coat duo - Sergio and Israel - exploring new sounds. “There’s a more indie, electronic vibe to ‘Hurricane’,” explains Sergio, “because it’s from the upcoming album we had the scope to experiment more.”

“It’s still us though,” continues Israel, “I think it maintains the melodies and groovy elements that characterise our sound.”

And the good news is the release doesn’t stop there. If bass guitar and Running Pine’s haunting vocal’s aren’t your thing, the guys have kindly contributed a dubbier, club mix, which really is Fur Coat in all their melodic techno glory. “If the original is more for the day, the clue is in the title of this mix; we specifically produced it for the peak, night time dancefloors,” Fur Coat confirm.

Last, but by no means least, comes Tim Green, who supplies one of the most beautiful remixes you are likely to hear all year. Tim’s been forging a rich vein of form of late with releases and collaborations on Seb Leger’s ‘Lost Miracle’ and Lee Burridge’s ‘All Day I Dream’, and his mix firmly taps into that ethereal, deep sound.

After the initial label launch in 2016, Desroi has been working insistently. Debuting on labels such as Henning Baer's Manhigh or Shifted's Avian, the young artist has worked his name into the scene. This time, Desroi returns to his own imprint with 'Eutheria'. With an unadorned focus on percussive drive and rugged atmosphere all three tracks invite to be played out in a dark but hypnotizing warehouse rave. His ability to shape-shift from experimental sonic explorations right up to pure and straight-forward techno cuts reiterates that Desroi is someone to keep an eye on.

Repress

Strings of Fear is a glance into a damaged, yet ubiquitous beauty fetishism, when succumbing to the collective consciousness means walking a thin line between vanity, sanity and self-loathing. The four-tracker ties into a journey through fear, confusion, anger, desire and loathing, all fitted into one shot of adrenaline in a form of an EP.

We're accustomed to hearing releases from Central Processing Unit which veritably fly out the traps. Indeed, you could spend hours listing all the great uptempo club tracks that have dropped via the Sheffield label down the years, rambunctious rollers from artists like DMX Krew and 96 Back. However, there is another side to the CPU sound, one that is slower, more considered and owes plenty to downtempo and 90s electronica.

Paul Blackford is a producer who has long embodied these two facets of CPU's output. On one hand you have his 2014 label debut The League Of Shadows, a set of fizzing IDM-techno innovations which remains highly sought-after to this day; on the other there is Light Years, the cool and collected return to CPU that Blackford made three years later. The latter record, with its painterly synth work and neck-snapping drums, remains a touchstone for Blackford's latest CPU release, a new twelve-track LP entitled Betamax.

While the tempos of Betamax may be rather relaxed, the sonic palette used here very much links up with CPU's other drops. It is one forged in the forward-thinking electronic styles of the 1990s - Drexciyan electro, Boards Of Canada's wistful electronica and the boundary-pushing IDM of Rephlex Records. Mind you, this is also one of the first CPU drops to draw a little from another side of the traxx - though Betamax may not be as schooled in plunderphonics as DJ Food or Nightmares On Wax, there is something in the lilt of these beats which obliquely doffs its cap to those old breaks.

Betamax proves yet again that Blackford is adept at experimenting and incorporating new influences across the course of a record without disrupting its vibe. As well as standing adjacent to the machine-funk sound that has long been a cornerstone of electro, Light Years was an LP in which subtle nods to G-Funk and P-Funk could be discerned in the rhythmic programming. These influences are felt once more on Betamax cuts such as 'Far From Home' and 'Fortress' - the former comes off like an after-hours take on Space Dimension Controller, or maybe even Daft Punk's 'Something About Us'. Meanwhile a space-age, slightly alien quality enters the production in the album's final third, something signposted by aptly-titled highlight 'The Nasa Beat'.

While Paul Blackford's Betamax may switch the pace up for Central Processing Unit, the album's richly-harmonious electro-hop sound proves a fine foil to the label's more high-octane releases.

Picking up where 2018's debut album left off, Pleasurekraft continue their foray into the Cosmic Techno sub-genre they helped usher in to the dance music lexicon.

Having released on their own Kraftek label - as have fellow techno explorers Spektre this year - and had one of the biggest tracks last year on Drumcode with their remix for Adam Beyer's “Space Date,' they always bring forward thinking grooves embellished with astral melodies and spaced out synths that make for emotional as well as physical experiences.

The new album Love in the Age of Machines is in no short supply of the sonic signatures the production duo have become known for, there is a clear maturation at work here. The album's non-techno tracks showcase an artistry rarely seen in conventional dance music and techno in particular. From the gritty dystopian future that establishes the album's themes at the onset in Last Sapien, to the dark,

rainy, urban-lit textures that form the spine of Nostalgic for the Future, there is a sense of impending self-wrought catastrophe, tempered with a sense of wonder of all that is, and all that could be if humanity somehow overcomes its hubris.

Things get more intense and turbulent on Panopticon (The Patron Saint of Global Surveillance) ft. Thomas Gandey before the voyage to the edges of our galaxy continues on I Sing the Body Electric & Main Sequence which keep up the enthralling techno atmospheres with increasing pressure, before the tension is released with the cinematic grandeur of Novacene. Two more hard hitting bangers in At The Mountains of Madness and Primordial then rebuild the all consuming techno mood before you're left adrift in the cosmos with the album's swan song Requiem For the American Dream.

Back in 2014, Sushitech Records persuaded UK techno veteran to release his first Wise Caucasian record in 16 years.

Signed to Eturia Beat and Flash, a vital part of the Voxnox collective and now part of Amelie Lens’ Fabric presents mix CD, the Berlin-based Italian is now making some significant waves since starting the production project back in 2015.

On this debut release with Suara, you can hear his trademark industrial beats and uncompromising style. What sets them apart is his attention to detail and the funky polyrhythms he creates layering melodic and percussive elements so uniquely.

Victor Kiktenko aka Module One's EP for Anna Wall's imprint The Bricks is inspired by the disciplines of Detroit. A sound shaped by luminaries like Mike Huckaby, Rick Wade and Kyle Hall, Victor has spent the last nine years refining his own unique approach to this style of house music.

Residing in the industrial city of Novocherkassk in the South of Russia, it wasn't until the summer of 2018 that he relocated to Berlin - and it was a liberating decision. 'With the growing power of the Police structures, the parties and festivals were often shut down the last minute which gave absolutely no way to plan our careers and I remember having up to 4 jobs at the same time to survive. Russia is a pretty poor country...the majority of people working extra hard and having several jobs. Berlin wasn't only an inspiration, but also a very logical and pragmatic move.' 'The One I Believe' was made during his time at home as he awaited the German visa process.

The four track EP displays the various forms of Module One's production; from the dub-techno sounds of 'Morning Dub' to playful electro kicks on 'Liquid Forms'. Chicago's Tyree Cooper has given 'The One I Believe' a classic rework adding his trademark drum machines and a subtle 303 acid line that compliments the original.

Rebuke joins the Drumcode family with a blistering three-track EP.

We got our first taste of the Irishman’s exhilarating talents when he debuted on Truesoul back in April with ’50 First Raves’. His unique alchemy of house, techno and rave has seen him become one of the breakout stars of 2019 and ensured he’s stayed firmly on the radar of Adam Beyer.

Inspired by his experiences at Drumcode’s now-legendary party at Space Miami during WMC, Rebuke’s DC debut encompasses all the dynamic energy of his previous contributions, with peak-time pounding effect.

'Rattle' leads the trio, a cut voraciously track I.D’d by Rebuke’s fanbase and highly anticipated across the industry after a high-impact play during Radio 1’s Weekender in Ibiza.

The track pops with the producer’s trademark rubbery rhythms, pin-sharp drums, intermittent rave horns and a wicked acid line, culminating in a high-octane trip that’s one of the most thrilling we’ve heard on DC this year.

‘Operator’ spits fierce drum sequences before a tweaked-out bass melody grows with undulating intensity giving the track it’s shining character.

‘Metal’ builds with intergalactic stabs and claps before a menacing low-end melody enters the fore and his signature percussion gives the track an otherworldly tribal crunch.

On the sixth document of their vinyl-only V/A series ‘EXCURSIONS’, Josiah Hartley’s Phuture Shock label continues its quest to seek and showcase both new and established talent from the adventurous depths of the dance music underground and beyond. Assembling four tracks by a quartet of artists spanning the globe from Brazil to Germany, UK via France and the USA, this versatile collection of dancefloor-orientated cuts largely focuses on the many diverse shades of contemporary deep house.

Leading the charge is Brazilian DJ/producer Nørus, one of São Paulo’s most promising new house music exports on the verge of breaking through, who makes his debut outing on wax with the heavily supported ‘Make A Move’. This dancefloor weapon has been heating up the underground as a digital dubplate – particularly within the international ‘lo-fi’ house scene - for the best part of 18 months, and here finally finds a home for an official physical release. Another fresh face, or rather lesser known talent named Sloppy J is also welcomed into the fold. With one sole release (‘My Jams’ EP) under his belt to date, the low-key Berlin-based Canadian, who also moonlights under the alias Jonattan Levingstone, offers up his first new output since said EP, released on Montreal imprint Parages Music back in 2016.

Making a welcome return, albeit in a remixed presence is Nottingham producer Cyclonix, with a track that first appeared in its original form on ‘EXCURSIONS # 3’. But here gets given a new lease of life from Parisian DJ/producer and D.Ko records co-owner Flabaire, who alongside his label mates, has proved to be a leading light of the revived French house scene in the past few years. Completing the dynamic cast is Ugandan-born, Connecticut/Berlin-based veteran DJ and producer Jenifa Mayanja. Widely known in deep house circles for her efforts on the likes of Underground Quality, Deep ArtSounds, and the three labels she co-helms - Bumako recordings, Sound Warrior and EDJ Records - here she contributes something that taps into her more leftfield impulses.

Freshly mastered for max sonic appreciation, ‘Make A Move’ by Nørus sets off the proceedings on the A-Side; where scuttling hi-hats and UK-style pounding, juggernaut kicks are paired with gnarly bass tones, a sampled vocal loop that drifts in and out of the mix, and a dusty milieu of woozy pads that altogether manages to evoke the hazy nostalgia of early 90’s house and techno raves. Next up the reins are handed over to Sloppy J with the hypnotic, Chicago-influenced workout ‘Lange Nacht’, which is centred around a filtered piano groove that swings forth with jazzy flair over a cacophony of jittery cymbals, fierce offbeat claps and sporadic bursts of bleeps and blips from an unknown planet many light years away. For his remix of Cyclonix’s ‘On My Mind’ on the flipside opener, Flabaire cranks up the BPM with the addition of rolling four to the floor beats and a slinky bassline; leaving just small traces of the original’s vocal sample, whilst sprinkling a melange of techy synth hooks and warm emotive pads as the track evolves into something entirely new and deep into peak-time territory. Before Jenifa Mayanja completely flips the script with the esoteric deepness of EP finale ‘The Deed Is In The Doing’, an abstract house jam for the mind, body and soul of the Room 2 dwellers, where sweeping sci-fi chords and MK-esque MIDI sax licks envelope themselves around a steady 4/4 rhythm track replete with intricate percussion, and a groovy analogue bassline that writhes its way around the track with serpentine splendour.

One of the most important artists in the development of the Horo sound, Astral Projection is the first full length ASC album for the Horo label. Astral Projection follows on clearly from 'Imagine The Future' with the development of the Grey Area sound progressing and becoming intrinsic to a large majority of ASC's current work. From the ashes of a devastated vinyl industry 10 years ago Paranoid London Records & Paranoid London the band emerged & immediately began bucking the trend in falling vinyl sales. With zero promotion, no interviews, no photos & no downloads their line in stripped down, dirty, sleazy tracks made directly for dancers & DJs caught the imagination of a scene bored shitless of the way things were.

The records started to become instant modern classics, going for silly money on sites like discogs. They would sell out before they even hit the shops leading to frenzied pre-orders & people squabbling over the few copies that made it on to the racks.

When they began to do live shows people began to get their first glimpses of the, until then, anonymous band. The atmosphere at those gigs was electric, the crowds surging forward with excitement as the show would start. The live show, like the records, was different to everything else on offer at the time. Combining a rare talent for dancefloor dynamics made with original analogue equipment spitting out often brutal shards of electronic funk with the Alan Vega/preacher -esque vocal rants of Mutado Pintado. Very quickly rising to the top of the disco chain they headlined everywhere from Panorama Bar, Block9 at Glastonbury, Sonar, Dekmantel as well as supporting bands like Fat White Family, The Chemical Brothers & Soulwax.

Cogitate is the first release from NYC local Promoter and an invitation to gaze inward and sit with sound. Borne of hours lost in loops, Promoter calls forth deep, dubby bass rumble, off-kilter rhythms and murky atmospherics, relishing in repetition and evolving subliminally but surely. Disorienting, engaging and engulfing, Cogitate is the 4th release on NYC-based Patience, catching you off guard then inviting you in.

Cogitate offers two cuts from the same cloth - one locked into the grid, the other drifting far above it. Both begin with shards of static cascading over submerged synth stabs - on Cogitate 1.1 a bassline bubbles up from below before a kick drum sneaks in and drops anchor, driving forward a slice of sparse zero gravity dub techno for a zonked out dancefloor in a dream. Cogitate 2.0 offers a pared back version of 1.1, slowed down and stripped of the rhythm section. A gentle brain scrub or a cascade of mind tricks depending on your headspace. Is the sequence evolving or is your perspective on it shifting? Does this sound like something I know or nothing at all? Has this been going for 3 minutes or 3 hours? Is this climax sublime or simply creepy?

Whatever it is, Promoter presents an opportunity to let the mind wander, and offers proof that repetition invites participation. Both cuts simmer in ambiguous emotion, never spelling out what to feel but allowing the listener to be their own trip commander.

Promoter is a new project from a life-long NYC resident, most recently releasing a couple of 12”s under the Image Man moniker, who for the most part would prefer that the music is received on it’s own terms, with a mind wide open.

Cogitate 1.1 was mixed by Mood Hut mixologist CZ Wang. Both tracks were mastered by M. Geddes Gengras.

Following this release will be an extremely limited cassette of material recorded in the same time and (head)space. Keep an ear to the ground for that one.

Patience is an outlet for exploring further beyond the break than usual. Inspired by the music perpetually on rotation at HQ – with E2-E4 representing the format’s high tide mark – each release will be one artist’s deep dive down one inspirational wormhole spread across two sides of vinyl, or two side-long sojourns making full use of a round 12” piece of plastic. It’s a first-time vinyl pressing of a wicked CD released in Vancouver, Canada in 1993, it’s a collective effort to highlight the sound of a persistent chillout-area dance music.

The people behind the recording were centered around Dan & Cristina Handrabur, a Romanian couple, nowadays living in the countryside to the north of Bucharest

The sound of the record is an echo of the vibe of World, a small after hours club in Vancuver, that would give birth to a small group of devoted producers like Dreamlogic, Pilgrims of the Mind, Adham Shaikh, the late Phil Western who in turn were responsible for a handful of idiosyncratic records that became quite sought-after.

Musique Pour La Danse presents Roomservice, Dutchman Orlando Voorn's forgotten yet unforgettable IDM-leaning, home-listening electronica / techno album from 1994 under his Living Room alias, originally released on the producer's cult Night Vision label.

Praised unequivocally by those lucky enough to have heard it, this criminally underrated record nonetheless deserves pride of place when talking about forward-thinking electronic music from the early 90s.

While it is widely acknowledged that Orlando Voorn's productions are one of the most fascinating prisms through which to experience a European take on the Detroit sound, Roomservice is also a strong reminder that the paradigm shift from sweaty raves to enhanced home listening, championed by Warp's Artificial Intelligence series, early Rephlex releases, along with projects such as The Black Dog, Plaid or Autechre was in fact not only limited to British artists.

As its name indicates, The Living Room is not geared for warehouses but instead interested in a more intimate and domestic setting. As such, it does not contain over the top bangers, but it's hard to find any filler in this album where all the tracks are killer, catchy and memorable. All displaying a sophisticated yet immediate focus on warm melodies and grooves no heavier than a feather, these emotional cuts provide a wonderful and intricate soundscape for introspective listeners to explore, and they will surely find echoes of ideas developped by Manuel Gottsching, Steve Reich and Pat Metheny scattered accross the album.

While some tracks are rhythmic and would fill a dancefloor in a second with their four to the floor or broken beats, the album also gives room for more ambient excursions to occur and develop brilliantly. But once again, it's more likely you'll end up dancing on your couch rather than dozing off.

2020 might be the most difficult year in recent history for dancefloors worldwide, yet that's not going to stop Musique Pour La Danse from reissuing this gem of an album for listeners, dancers, and DJs of today and tomorrow.

Swedish record label Trunkfunk celebrates the impressive landmark of 20 years releasing music with the first of a two-part vinyl sampler series. Championing the Scandanavian electronic sound, both samplers combined will form twelve tracks to be included in a twenty track compilation album to follow later this year.

“In this year of change, we wanted to reconnect with the roots of the label, inviting both old and new artists from our family to create twenty unreleased tracks to celebrate our 20th birthday. This compilation is a huge milestone for us and sets the tone for the future of Trunkfunk.” Trunkfunk

His Name Was Juri from Algorythm opens the release in style with celestial organ and lush bass. The track progresses with percussive elements creating an ever-growing state of hypnotism. Swedish house aficionados Jens Wickelgren and Polisen collaborate on It’s All Out, a classy piece created by the Jens Records and Compact disco label bosses. A murky bassline snakes in between breakbeat before bright keys shine through on this exuberant track. franskild, the Swedish production duo of Tim Soderstrom and Love Ojensa who have released on Kistuné Music and Lotss Records, bring their brand of melancholic and playful house music to Plastic Yacht.

French electronic music stalwart ''Umwelt'' has produced some modern day classics throughout his career. After a string of releases for several renowned music labels this time around, the Lyon based musician joins P.E.A.R.L.'s falling ethics imprint and comes up with the thirteenth installment in the series. ''Strange Attractor EP'' is a well balanced EP that showcases several sides of Umwelt's signature style that sits somewhere on the edges of Techno, Electro, Adventurous Electronics and anything in between.

The release opens with a rough machine work-out called ''Nocturnal March''. After this, with "The Collapsing Empire, the sound changes dramatically into one of Umwelt's signature adventures with cinematic electro. The title track (B1) maintains the electro'ish ambiance of ''The Collapsing Empire'' but the french artist adds some taints of paranoia to the mix resulting in a unprecedented dancefloor effort. ''Across The Abyss'' is a treat for anyone that's been into Umwelt cinematic sounding escapades. Three minutes of sweltering synths
beautifully aligning with a scorching bassline.

Originally written and produced as the centrepiece to his 2014 FabricLive compilation, Erol Alkan’s ‘Sub Conscious' arrives on 12” vinyl and to streaming platforms for the first time, accompanied by two charismatic remixes from Manfredas.

Shimmering and undulating, the original cut of ‘Sub Conscious’ was designed with Fabric’s cavernous main room in mind, taking full advantage of any finely tuned soundsystem with a patient, rhythmic trip. Remastered here, the track evolves out of hazy darkness towards halcyon euphoria in a uniquely Alkan style.

Resident at Opium Club in Vilnius, cult DJ and producer Manfredas provides two hugely creative and alternative takes on ‘Sub Conscious’. The first works hallucinatory magic with a supple bassline and much of Alkan’s original stretched and repurposed around vampish oscillations and a westward vocal sample.

On the contrary, the ‘Stream Of Consciousness' mix sees Manfredas pitch down and strum the bones of ‘Sub Conscious’, unexpectedly delivering a lovingly lethargic, bottom-heavy jam that’s pure dub-side pleasure.

The new imprint for Stroboscopic Artefacts: Terzo Giorno - or Third Day - by Italian producer Donato Dozzy. It is an EP of great textural dexterity, traversing the moving and the misanthropic. First track 'Il Canto Della Maga' presages the onset of Part II's kick drum with mordant wind chimes, tinkling outside a house of pain and disturbance. The chimes reverberate around impressions of capacious depth - a distant factory whirring, lorries creeping in a tunnel - and that depth is incessantly, resolutely emphatic. And on that goes to '...Part II', an immediate thrust into the deepest corners of techno. You can hear the sweat on the walls, the rumble in the speakers, the almost jubilant high-end synth rubbing against your skin. Vocals and/or metallic manipulation pour in half-way in. And then, as if summoned by the chimes outside the house, cease slowly. The third eponymous track is another made for the floor, and has a reasonably friendly upper line. Do not be fooled, however: a snarling squelch gives way to a scarily saccharine synth, incising with a jab two times a bar. A funkier beat slowly emerges from a distinctly off-beat one, bringing the piece to a natural, if not nice, conclusion. The final track, 'Sotto Ma Sotto', comes in like a train with an alarm going off. Its machine-like run, jumpy in tone and beat, is as delicate as its kick is deep. The alarm, meanwhile, fails to err: it is determined and charming, a call for heavenly climes and ecstatic moods. This is a wonderful track, built on insistence and executed with precision. The chimes having run out of puff, this is a faultlessly incessant record. It is tempo up, both feet to the floor.

As a long-time admirer of his work, R&S/Apollo boss Renaat has signed up Italian craftsman Nuel for a stunning concept album that finds the artist becoming "my own imaginary band" after ten years of personal growth and exploration. Nuel has been revered in underground techno circles for many years. He is a meticulous sonic sculptor who has made some of the most meditative and hypnotic electronic grooves of the last decade on labels like Semantica, Kontra-Musik and Sublunar. He also put out cult classic and highly sought after album 'Trance Mutation', which found him playing all the sounds himself on a wide array of instruments. 'Fantasia' is physical, dance-able music but crafted from unfamiliar sound sources that make it as suited to a campfire gathering as an experimental club setting. It's expertly assembled and utterly unique.

Try Unity are an electronic music band (composed of Francesca Purcell, Sammy Purcell and James Ewins) who produce breakbeat rave inspired music. They combine old skool influences with a contemporary musical sensibility to produce music that’s exciting and explosive to both the dancefloors and personal listening. At the time of writing this, Try Unity have released 10 vinyl EP’s across 3 different labels (Rave Radio Records, Remix Records and Jedi Recordings) within a 3 year time period. They have performed many LIVE PA’s in nightclub venues (e.g The Volks) across the south coast of England. The trio have had significant radio airplay across underground radio stations including: Kool FM, Eruption Radio UK and Codesouth FM to name a few. Sammy from Try Unity is the sole promoter of the very popular club night promotion Calling The Hardcore that attracts 1000’s of ravers to attend from across the country.

Over the last 10 years Token Records has grown steadily, both in size and stylistic breadth. The aptly-titled Momentum comes as a celebration of the close-knit family of artists amassed throughout the label's running. The record is a fitting collaborative project, with every track on the album produced by two longstanding and well-respected artists from the label's roster and especially commissioned for the release. This type of collaboration is intended to showcase the specific sound of the label, developed through 10 years of careful curation, as well as bringing out the individual identities of the artists involved.On the development of the label's sound, Token founder Kr!z comments, "Inigo delivered quite the statement with the first release Identify Yourself. I think identity was and still is key in the development of the label and the artists."Inigo Kennedy's involvement in Token has been profoundly influential and spans its very existence; with three collaborative tracks on the record, it's easy to hear his trademark cinematic sound throughout. One such offering, Amalgam, is co-produced by Kr!z himself, which is a first step for the label head into releasing his own music after years of taking the back seat, focusing instead on DJing while keeping the label ticking over and the releases coming out.

Token's identity has been clarified through its curation over the years as each new artist has joined the label family. Ø Phase has been a staple since 2007, providing cerebral sustenance for the most discerning of listeners. To date, he has produced two successful albums and a string of notable EPs for Token, Binary Opposition being perhaps the best-known; a pulsating, mesmerising project on both sides that played a serious role in pushing the label to a larger audience. Rødhåd's trademark composure was a similarly early addition, and although his Spomeniks release was a step aside from his own ongoing Dystopian project, he has remained an important member of the Token collective.

Ctrls was a Token affiliate from early in his career, and has to date provided nine solo EPs. His class of jarring, inorganic techno adds an atypical feel to the label's output, while Antigone's 2015 double EP Cantor Dust paved the way for another strong artist/label relationship. This bond has resulted series of adventurous releases over past two years, with the most recent Ostinato EP esteemed as a tasteful antidote to the techno status quo.

This compilation features music from artists who perform regularly at the Diane's Hunting Club annual gatherings. Heavily inspired by and indebted to the influence of the natural world and open spaces, this is music for motivation, movement, and meditation. Conoley Ospovat (Kimochi Sound) begins with a breezy slow-house theme, followed by some similarly slow but a much more tangled webs by sug (Hausu Mountain). Lokua contributes a melodic deep-space techno roller, Area (Kimochi Sound) offers gentle ambient rhythms, Mukqs (Hausu Mountain) produces a shimmering sunshine beat, and K-rAd closes out with an vast dub house journey. Enter the zone.

Spanish techno master Reeko makes his mark on Detroit Underground with a release exploring the darker facets of humanity in mesmerizing fashion, with rhythm and drone taking equal importance. "Lovers and Bandits" sets side A off with a brutal broken march, hard kicks building slowly into caverns of sonic noise. "BDSM" twists the sounds of pleasure and pain into an endless dark delay, leading you to the edge and right into "Hard Sex Club", roiling with indecipherable voices and a hovering synth build that teases but never quite strikes.


Side B straightens the beat with "Slaughter", a searing background noise underpinning an evolving rotation of menace that pushes the beats forward into a pit of noise and sludge. "Sex With God" is a fierce techno rhythm, wet, crunchy, and percussive without the ubiquitous kick drum, building to a crescendo of heat and buzz. Finally, "Submissive Behavior" is a massive paranoid drone, prickly with hunger and menace. On "We Are Bandits", Reeko strips down his explorations of sound and texture to the barest essences, making for an unsettling and intriguing listen. Graphic design from The Designers Republic. Tresor Records is delighted to welcome Rod Modell to its catalogue, with the release of his new album Captagon.
Rod Modell needs no introduction, his various projects render him a master of techno. In repetition and barely noticeable change, Modell resculptures perceptions. His sound-design echoes cinematic ethereality, where ferric artefacts slam against percussion, rusty delays filter observation - the resulting web is a complex, radiating ambience that etches a natural ebb and flow.

Transformative sounds alight from the outset, “Triangulation” recalls flickering harmonies and grains, a tectonic swipe. Fast-paced dub techno emerges in “Reiki”, the disorienting clangs suggesting a step away from his recent ambient excursions. “Ito” crunches the pulse further with insistent noise, into soaring epiphanies of darkened transmissions.
Modell singularly uproots standard sonic hierarchies of techno production, crisp static as forceful as his beats, a provocation of rhythm and noise. Unceasing in its fast tempo, “Jade” is trademark Tresor business - the seismic sub-sonics underpin a momentous drive, with reverberated vocal inflections disfiguring warped, dancing materials. “Scrawler” is upfront and direct, a slamming groove and swaying chords di using ethereality. Enter vast chambers of smeared minimalism.
Where Modell’s recent releases had indicated a priority for ambient sounds, this new album extends Modell’s essential vision within techno. Closing track “Air-Port” shows Modell at his most crucial best - an ethereal colossus of sub-bass weight and morphing geometry.
