New Glasgow electro and techno label Tremors presents our first vinyl release - Aftershocks Volume 1 - a collection of remixes of tracks from our Bandcamp releases.

The A1 comes from electro legend Dexter, a man who needs no introduction, remixing Old Boy's Tracer. Next up is James Shinra (Analogical Force) one of our favourite contemporary electro artists, remixing Arctor - Memory Gene. On the B-Side we have Patrick Walker (Forward Strategy Group) remixing Arctor's Selfish Lover into a slamming acid techno banger. Rounding it off is relatively unknown Hungarian producer David Harleydson who has been self-releasing highly impressive electro albums through Bandcamp. He has applied his own unique style in a remix of Arctor - The Gulf.

Dutch duo Artefakt launch their own imprint entitled De Stijl with their own 'Far And Wide EP' counting four tracks that perfectly balance between their trade mark deep techno sounds and emotive electro jams. The new imprint delivers a fertile ground for further exploration of the Artefakt sound, as well as providing a home to affiliated projects and close friends. Though highly contemporary Bad Woman is an album that takes Pop music back to a time when lyrics where more than esthetic gimmicks. With Céline's music, one cannot avoid to listen to what she has to say. To be honest we've not been struck by lyrics as much as with this record for quite a long time, and it keeps on growing.

Bad Woman can be seen as a mutant blend of everything that's been produced by the music industry these last 30 years, from Cher's delirious come-back in the 1990's to the most embarrassing moments in Dance music (think Gabber and Happy Hardcore), blurring the frontier between 'good' and 'bad' taste, between commercial and alternative. Just like Cher's Believe, Céline Gillain's Bad Woman sometimes sounds like the music of a former diva who's been through tough times, saw her expectations torn apart and came back to music with a bizarre testimony of her state of mind.

Joining forces for the first time are label founder Len Faki and Juxta Position, a rather fresh yet already integral member of Figure. How effectively the prolific producers worked them machines with combined strength shows in every fibre of this four-tracker. The record's sides feature two alternate mixes of each track: Superstition tempts with is sultry vocal, driven by an irresistible acidic groove, fusing Juxta Position's preference for rough and analogue sounds with the tight programming Len Faki has become renowned for. Paying tribute to UK's gritty brand of warehouse-techno, A2 introduces a more swinging and all-out version of the track. A lot more tender than its counterpart, Gathering Clouds slowly builds from jagged synths and droning basses, brewing up a vivid tempest of anticipation. Verging carefully on the moment of emotional release, we are left to imagine the theatrical scenery cooked up in this delicious blend of the two artists' singular skills.

As we gradually build toward the release of Rebekah's debut album on Soma, the hard hitting DJ/producer drops her 3rd single in the shape of the Code Black EP. Title track Code Black hits the ground running with ice cold percussion and thunderous kicks running the show before a more jacking vibe is introduced backed by some seriously perilous pads. Disaster looms even more as Relapse Paradigm tears in next with clunking beats and straight percussive workouts as screeching synths and hooks give an overall foreboding atmosphere. Detroit bred / LA based producer Kenny Larkin has long been a force to be reckoned with, both in the studio and in the DJ booth. For over 2 decades this giant has supplied us with some of the deepest, most soul touching and verdant techno sounds the scene has ever presented. Larkin's music is always awash with human emotion, his machine tinged expressions hark back to the true sources of techno music where man always met machine and the soul was inherent. 'Serena X' always sounded like it had been beamed back to us, even in 1992 when she first appeared, bolstered by a classic remix from fellow Detroit techno auteur Carl Craig that saw C2 firmly innerzoning and adding in some trademark stellar chopped-up breaks to the mix. Both of these now classic and monumental tracks are included here, on this reissue, backed by the towering melodic workout that is 'Empirical Reality'. These tracks all stand tall today, a testament to the forward thinking style of Mr. Larkin. The record was out of print since over 15 years and the tracks were not availlable on any digital platform. Based on a very light, but striking ground construction, Roman Flügel and Jörn Elling Wuttke leading their listeners over delicate fm-synthesis-sounds, minimal clonky bass patterns and snappy percussions to a long intermission breakdown, which reminds us of a starting Boeing 747. Where 'Interstate' plays like an inspired peakhour-jam should, 'Turkey Skank' and 'Hibernation Drive", on the b-side, take on cooler tones for a headier machine-funk ride. The record was played out by dj's like Andrew Weatherall, Matthew Herbert, Luke Slater, Baby Ford, Dj Hell, Ellen Allien, Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Michael Mayer etc.

German duo Avidus bring their spellbinding style to Crosstown this March. The pair have conceived a four track EP that serves to showcase their unique sound.

Avidus have produced a mesmerising EP that submerges the listener in an intriguing sonic soundscape. On title track XII prominent drums arise alongside dramatic strings that create a track full of suspense. Psalm 23 opens with an ethereal vocal sample that bleeds into a high-octane beat that's pacing and intense. On the flip, Lux is a dreamy and emotive number, calmer than its predecessors with a breathtaking breakdown, whilst last year's Revenge Of The Whales gets a rework for Crosstown.

Hailing from Kiel in North Germany Fritz Wagner and Marc Wolf, aka Avidus, have forged a strong partnership over the years. Fritz began producing music in the late 90s, making Hip Hop beats and pop music before moving on to house. During his early years, Marc produced backing tracks for hardcore bands before DJ'ing at illegal, outdoor raves. He started his own night ENDVR at Kiel's Luna Club, where he invited guest such as Âme, Roman Flügel, Barnt and Marcus Worgull. Their diverse musical tastes and influences are apparent in their music, which refuses to be confined to any one genre. The duo launched their own imprint Empore Music in 2014 that has charted releases from Johannes Albert amongst others.

Blend Architect is a techno producer out of Japan in the lineage of DJ Nobu or Ken Ishii. 'Uncloud' - his very first release - is composed by 2 movements with 2 variations each.

Cloud 1.1 sets the initial atmosphere for 1.2 to jump in and offer a more tense body that will play deeply with our intellect and physicality. An apparent minimal universe but full of subtle details.
Cloud 2.1 opens the B side with a futuristic high voltage cut. Finally, Cloud 2.2 brings the time back to present tense and the dance continues!

Blasting UK Hard techno dancefloor pearl !

After the success of the digital release of Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik last summer, HAAi is now preparing to release her first ever full length EP on vinyl.

Speaking about the EP, HAAi says: 'This EP was made after I realised that what inspired me most was to combine my love of electronic music with the music I enjoy outside of the club. I decided to collaborate with friends from a couple of my favourite bands, including Fay Milton (Savages) who provides live drums on Motorik Bush Doof Musik and Taigen Kawabe (Bo Ningen) who performs on I Never Cared That Much For Jungle. For me, having live instrumentation on the EP adds an extra depth to the tracks & has given me a vision of how I'd like future releases to sound.

My fave track off the EP, Growing Up With Muscle Cars, is an homage to my step dad who repairs and restores old muscle cars. He also used to take me to the drags in my hometown when I was little. We would push the race cars out onto the track. Some of my favourite memz as a lil kid.'

'Your Disk Is Full' is an atmospheric EP opener, and also became a favourite set opener for Denis Sulta and other DJs over the summer. Title track 'Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik' raises the tempo with shimmering percussion and psychedelic looping vocals over a propulsive sub bass, prompting fans to ask for IDs in HAAi's recent mixes.

'I Never Cared That Much For Jungle' features the distinctive vocals of Taigen Kawabe of Japanese noise band Bo Ningen. The echoey samples are paired with a heavy hitting jungle-influenced production tailor made for the larger clubs and festivals HAAi is increasingly playing. A dub version of this track is also included in the package.

'Growing Up With Muscle Cars' brings a climactic end to the EP. Over the course of over ten minutes, the ambient intro gives way to an emotive breakbeat, with rumbling sub bass and glitchy synths making for a rich, multilayered production.

'Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik' garnered widespread critical acclaim, not only from club rotation but also with plenty of radio airtime across BBC Radio 1, 6Music and Worldwide FM. The tracks gained even further recognition when HAAi included them in her award winning BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix.

The release comes just ahead of HAAi's landmark all night headline show at Mick's Garage on the 16th March - her first since the end of her celebrated Phonox residency. Her international tour schedule continues to fill up, with dates at Sonar Istanbul & Barcelona, Beat Hotel Marrakech, Paris's Concrete, DGTL, Nuits Sonores, Field Day and Love International in Croatia being just a few upcoming highlights.

"Hepta" is the greek word for the number seven. Significant, full of knowledge and symbolism; these metaphoric fields are associated since the beginning of Ownlife. It is also the title of the new release on the platform. This time, as it happens regularly since its creation, signed by the ideologist, Leiras.
Another four tracks that anticipate some of the sounds that will appear in future deliveries, entering into unexplored lands until this date.
The record opens with an homonym track. Synths with pure voltage nuances around layered kicks that characterizes this perfect cut for long mixes. "Nubian Legacy" combines the oneiric landscapes with the ambient and techno in an unprecedented way for Ownlife.
On the "B side", we can find the atemporal functionality of "Neopagan" to the cold and physical techno of "Hepta End" whose final part leaves open the continuation of this chapter.

E-Missions co-founder P.Leone returns to Radio Slave's Rekids this March with four techno cuts entitled 'Moments Of Peace Within'.

Tapped as one of Mixmag's '25 Artists You Need To Watch In 2019', P.Leone is a musician, DJ and producer from New York, who often spins at clubs like Panorama Bar and ://about blank having moved to Berlin. Following his two debut releases on Spencer Parker's Work Them Records, P.Leone launched his respected E-Missions alongside Caiazzo in 2017- putting out quality music from emerging talent such as False Witness, CYD, Tred and Rush Plus.

Meanwhile, P.Leone has dropped two releases on Matt Edwards' influential Rekids imprint, as well as collaborated alongside Radio Slave for a remix of Deep Dimension 'So 1992'. He now returns for his third release, following releases from SRVD (Matt Edwards & Patrick Mason), Mark Broom and Nic Fanciulli.

'Walked Into My Life' offers slow psychedelic guitar notes with fluttering vocals over driving drums, before 'What Could I Have Done' delivers a sporadic kick pattern dispersing delayed stabs and metallic sounds. 'Wrong Muse' presents a damaging beat amidst rattling atmospherics and low groans, before 'The First Vision' plays shining chords on soulful vocal chops and unearthly FX.

After the praise for Morning Worship, released back in 2015 on Royal Oak, Portuguese duo Sabre returns to releases with the EP "Fora de Turf", pointing directly towards the dance floor. There is in "Fora de Turf" a certain idea of transient existence as a series of car journeys cruising the night with no clear sense of direction, recalling the gradual disappearance of public space and loss of community. The weight of Kraut references such as Kraftwerk's Autobahn or Stratosfear by Tangerine Dream is somehow clear in its alignment with a 1995 Carl Craig who had just released Landcruising

On the A side, 'Condor Sense' and 'Sem Terra'. The first one is a banger built around broken beats and repetitive synth chords that guide us through the drone landscapes on the background, very clearly marked by the 808's rhythms. The second one is anchored in a broken kick and on a growing acid line, punctuated by warm chords and some sliced pads that reminds us of the pulsating heart of the city of Detroit.

On the B side, "Condor Senses" and "Driving Bruno" got some sort of a gliding character. "Condor Senses" is the only track on the EP to accept the classic four-on-the-floor to guide some dubby chords along a quieter landscape where organic and natural sounds lurk. Is it dawn arriving No. On the last track of the album, "Driving Bruno," Sabre get in the car and step on the throttle, full speed, on a bassline that could resemble some synthwave releases if synthwave had been lucky enough to be born a decade earlier and in the center of the state of Michigan.

Soela serves up four deep and dreamy jams for Shall Not Fade's sub-label Lost Palms.

Four floor fillers sourced from the Rising High Tape Archive of 880 Tapes and assorted sampler disks. We have lost count of how many Rising High titles we have restored in the last two years but it is over 250 and we are still only scratching the surface.

Two of these gems made it to the Rave compilation series, "Noise 3". The compilation tracks are that classic 1992 SL2 inspired sound that was so popular, using the same vocal sample as the Tango Project 1 Remixes "Original Rub-A-Dub-Style".

The unreleased tracks are a Belgian style hoover track that would of been at home on early KMS Records or R&S Records and a pounding trippy Acid Techno banger. Check out the You Tube video play list as words do not do them justice.

"When playing this new track for the family at home. My partner stopped what she was doing and started dancing. Afterwards she waxed her feelings from the song saying how strong she felt from it and commented about how it seemed based on my astrological sign of my ruling planet Mars being in my Aries, and how the track had strong, powerful, fiery and fierce fast paced animalistic passion. So I said 'Wow. Okay.' I went into the studio the next day and added the vocal, switching the two as it had a better rhythmic flow."
That flow needs to be heard to be understood; 'Aries In Mars' is a wily, bouncing eight minute Ovum opus that twists and turns and ricochets with physical acid charm, rolling beats and breakbeat vapour trails. It fizzes with every element of Wink's signature but is delivered with a refreshed perspective and sense of vitality. Naturally it comes with the all essential drum and vox versions for that full creative mixing spirit that Ovum has always encouraged. For those moments when all your selector stars have aligned.

With the Audiothentica 007, the DJ and producer Sascha Lebemann from Frankfurt is returning to the sound production scene after a few years. After the Audiothentica 001, he is responsible for the seventh Release on his own label. On the latest AT Records, he was releasing the Output from Acts like Martin Woerner, Franksen, Dominik Musiolik, Broombeck or Frank Leicher. As a longtime resident DJ of the most important and high-quality event series in Frankfurt, Lebemann is constantly setting new standards, also as a signpost for the next generations.

With LIVING, he is releasing an EP away from the current techno hype. In Advance, the four tracks have already been created within the last six years. Minimal Techno works, with a slight tech-housy influence. Extremely groovy. His personal tributes to his experience.

LIVING - The title track promises a hymn-like feeling. Summery grooves, percussions and synths push the track to the limit of the euphoria.

Arrival - This production can be compared with a landing of extraterrestrials. An extremely powerful tune, which should convince everyone from the second break at the latest. More Groove goes barely.

Los Elefantes Ibicencos - The Ibizan elephants. Having lived for two years in Ibiza, and still loving the island far away from commercialization, the Lebemann processes his feelings for the magical island in one track. Beading Claps and Snares, Spilled Percs - Los Elefantes Ibizencos grooved into the listener's ear.

Lost in Sao Paulo - When the young Lebemann was still on tour with one of the most important electro musicians of our time - in Brazil, more precisely in the 25 million city Sao Paulo. Here you can lose yourself quickly. In this track, however, you will be more likely to find yourself. Warm basses stimulate the synapses of the listener. Lost in Sao Paulo has the same Anthem-Character as the title track Living.

Stanislav Tolkachev is releasing a new double-LP through Krill Music called It Will Be Too Late Then.

The Ukrainian techno artist says he made the album by assembling tracks recorded over a three-year period, and he notes somewhat cryptically, "I think this record represents a phase."

As with most of Tolkachev's releases, the album will feature his own visual art on the cover. Krill Music, a Berlin-based label originally founded six years ago in Buenos Aires, is having it pressed in Argentina to support "the growth of the Latin American vinyl industry."

Tolkachev, who previously appeared on Krill Music with a track on a sampler 12-inch nearly two years ago, just put out a new EP on Mord. Rivet's Pohjola outlet repressed his 2011 ten-inch Why Are You So Frightened. He also recently shared a stream of an electro tune that's apparently coming out Umwelt's New Flesh label next year.

Techno stars collide as Truncate and Slam come together for the latest Gynoid release "Drum Trax". Side A sees Truncate return on the label with 2 original pieces in 'Model 2' and the title track, 'Drum Trax'. Both dipped in that Truncate signature floor driven minimalist funk and backed with tough percussion for drive. These are surefire DJ faves waiting to happen. The flip side sees Slam remix 'Model 2', not once but twice. The 'Slam Remix' charts darker and brooding territory, taking you deep into the rabbit hole. Then the 'Tenebris Dub' remix still maintains that mood, but shifts through the energy gears to develop into a dance floor bomb.

Techno release from the Finnish capital, living legend bangs it out!

Tucked away in a shed in Portland, Best Available Technology continues to cultivate an unmistakable sound grown around a seemingly untiring exploration of the machines that he works with. Across 'Enginetics & Plasmalterations' his densely layered sonic design agglutinates with a healthy appreciation for the unplanned or unexpected, forming a polymorphic collection of tracks for the 6th release from 12th Isle. While more traditional means of classification have become increasingly insufficient, it wouldn't be unfair to suggest that the music on this record bears a mutated resemblance to stuttered Downtempo or the dubbier side of Techno and Bass, connected by way of tonal plasticity through drone-jams and intermittently skewed synth loops.

Despite the frustrating limits of language surrounding music, we're incredibly happy to welcome B.A.T. to the label with this release and would be well enough compacting the overview of it to the near molecular level by borrowing a phrase from the artist himself - Sonics Proper!

Blint004 brings another two tracker from the Berlin based producer. 'Idolize Your Future' on the A side is driven by a restless bassline, accompanied by a small battalion of marching claps.

The Track on the flipside is 'Hiding In Leaves', like a poisenous snake, with sharp-bleeping elements, ready to bite and quickly disapear in the undergrowth.

On A side, electronic music wizards Kompozyt team up with a Dub Legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry to bring you a heavy-hitting and instant bounce-inducing Dub Techno track 'Hidden Force'. Lee Scratch Perry's amazing and charismatic Dub poetry blends superbly with the neat fusion of spacey and subterranean sounds of Kompozyt productions. The single is not to be missed this summer.

On B side, Kompozyt brings you a 7' version of 'Homesick' - Dub and Trip-hop inspired Experimental Electronica with Olgierd Dokalski on the trumpet. Olgierd's incredible performances of real haunting beauty further reinforce the analog, live and improvisational aspect of Kompozyt's music.

We have some 'Food for Thought' for you. On BAS007 Tripeo experiments with a diverse spectrum of motives. Three tracks, striking different cords with the inclined listener and an addition with Georgian flavor. Title track 'Food For Thought' starts off as a classically orchestrated techno track. With 'Resist' we dive into an electro-driven sketch and a bass line, lurking behind melodic corners. But it's the B side where Tripeo's wit unfolds: 'Tuesday Blues' comes along as a reminder to embrace joy on the worst day the of the week after a weekend to remember. Schmer has tried to stop, we've all gone into therapy, but there's no hope, short of setting the world ablaze: we can't stop smoking! 2019 see's Schmer pressing TECHNO records in the EU and PRICED in Europe as a domestic release. As if the continent didn't already have enough problems, here we come with our latest COMPILATION!

First to drop a match is Amber Shoshona aka Bastet. She is a live electronic music performer and DJ based in Baltimore, MD USA. Her live set is coarse-grained and atmospheric, developing a slow-burning, hypnotic groove. In the studio she creates genre bending electronic experiments. For Schmer she made 'Torn', which sneaks right up to you and lights you up.

Delivering oil to the blaze from deep in the Russian arctic is Maxim Makarenko aka 777minus111. The unknown hero from the Russian Techno label he remains in the shade and keeps it real! He runs underground parties in Moscow and is a member of Vinyl Ambulance project in India. He keeps our compilation 'Getting Dirty Quick' with his Dan Bell inspired MINIMALISM.

On the flip the fires start with Vague Audio Tapes label head Dominic Martin aka Hero/Victim. Hero/Victim is a sonic attempt at translating unanswered and unheard emotions. Visceral and physical; so as to both, engage and purge the evolving dissonance. Never content. With sound as a context-sensitive metaphor, stories are heard. He also makes weird electronic music and then Schmers all over us with a 'New Stress'.

Schmerhead BPMF hides a track from another release in this inferno. Its super short as in it goes on FOREVER with a LOCKED GROOVE at the end. If you're gonna be an emcee, do it in a Wormhole on a LOCKED GROOVE so that the rock will never stop.

Liza Weinstein, Zach Vietze and Jason Szostek were Jack Move. In 1994 they may have made two tracks together, but this is the only one we found lying around in the basement floor. Long before the skinny jean hipsters were rocking beats deliberately designed to confuse the dance floor with their lack of flow, The Jack Movers were experimenting with cryptic funk... It was a Jack Move on their part and they immediately ran out of town to escape retribution, leaving behind their 'Krippy Shit'.

A long player of new music from DMX Krew is always a welcome sight and sound, and Hypercolour continue to strengthen their association with the seasoned British producer, with his third album for the label, 'Glad To Be Sad'.

A consistent player in the field of electronic music, DMX Krew has been releasing more goodies on labels like Super Rhythm Trax, Libertine, and his very own Breakin' Records since 2017's last Hypercolour album, 'Strange Directions'.

Those familiar with the catalogue of DMX Krew (all 22 albums and countless singles and remixes) can expect the usual collection of first class electronic funk and modular melodies, but for the uninitiated, 'Glad To Be Sad' covers a wide and colourful palette of rhythm and sound, abundant on the bass and with a heavy dose of futurism in its waves of glorious synth-work and deadly drum machine rhythms.

Erol Alkan welcomes Joshua James to Phantasy for his debut release 'Coarse' featuring The Bunker NY producer Justin Cudmore on remix duties.

A fixture of London's dedicated queer club scene, James maintains a trio of distinct residencies, including XOYO, the notorious 'Savage' parties, as well as fortnightly on Rinse FM. Ever since hearing Pete Tong announce 'Chica Wappa' as his Essential New Tune back in 2004, we've been following the bold Alex Smoke on his musical journey.

Coming from Glasgow, we've shared a lot of common influences - both from within and outside of the city and we have Alex to thank for introducing and strengthening our love for the likes of Villalobos, Rhythm & Sound, Carl Craig and Actress, amongst others. Although he was a familiar face on the 'minimal' scene, he always operated on his own terms and that's a throughline we've admired throughout his career. Not only is he comfortable releasing techno on Soma and R&S, he's produced for ballet, films and even the NHS.

Over the years, Alex has played at a few seminal parties for us; alongside the likes of Oni Ayhun, James Holden, Helena Hauff and Veronica Vasicka. So we were delighted to be approached by him to work on a record together and it's been really exciting to hear it evolve over time. It would be arrogant to compare it to Thom Yorke's - The Eraser, but it certainly occupies a similar world in our mind. To still be producing innovative and inspiring albums 15 years into a career is no mean feat in this age and it's a great honour to welcome such a musical hero on to the label.

As with the last Auntie Flo album, we're also lining up a very special remix package with a swarm of our favourite producers of the moment and we can't wait to share them with you too over the course of the year.

The Driving Me Nuts track is a sample of our tutors reaction to a track I made she hated.

Voodoo Dance Malarky's intro would be worthy of a Chemical Bros track, full of little surprises and an evil break at the end.

Originally released on Rabbit City Records as a CD collection taken from the first batch of EP's on Rabbit City. Remastered and offered by Mike Wells on his own FMM imprint. Definitely one of my all time favourites from 1992, Force Mass Motions early work was very distinctive. A sound that owed a lot to how Mike Wells sourced a lot of his sounds. Listening to and taping Kiss FM and sampling it. With a home built sound card his brother made an Amiga was the centre of the studio. All the music was mixed down through an old Broadcast desk using a few clever delay line tricks that give the music a lot of depth. Very distinctive, totally original the music was caned by all the DJ's.

Joe Hart and Scott Fraser's Body Hammer, London's legendary jack party has been capturing the hearts, minds and feet of Londoners for 11 years strong. Having kicked off in 2008 at the Korsan Bar, and now comprising only of residents Scott & Joe, it takes place in various venues every month. Their open minded music policy commands a friendly, spirited, diverse and fiercely loyal crowd making it consistently one of the best nights out in the city, hands down. More recently, taking the party out of London they have been touring at clubs and festivals from New York to Berlin in and everything in between. They now have their own label and its 100% Body Hammer dancefloor certified.

The first release, of course, features two banging club tracks written and produced by Fraser and Hart at Fraser's East London basement studio, mastered and cut by Keith Tenniswood at Curve Pusher.

The A side, 'Spit from the Sun' is a peak-time jacking acid number which will set any dancefloor on fire. Its rattling drums and pulsing bass stabs capture all the intensity of the convict poet on the vocal telling his story and lamenting the waste of his life behind bars.

Over on Side B, 'Igniter' strikes a more subtle tone with its gently rising strings and breathy vocal. But don't let the subtlety deceive you as those kicking drums and thumping bassline come through to get the dancers screaming for more as it hits its crescendo.

"Islands" is the result of a long search spent seeking sounds on various islands during his journey through south-east asia with a Tascam recorder and several directional microphones. He captured natural sounds from jungles, dunes, beaches and wild urban landscapes, not to mention the deep sounds of the Earth's elements: the sea, the wind, the interaction between man and nature.

Four years since his last EP release and Josh Wink is back with Balls on Ovum.
Since his acclaimed album release in 2009 with 'When A Banana Was Just A Banana', Josh Wink has been heavily touring and working on building a new studio. Last year he produced his greatest creation to date, a beautiful baby son. After taking some time out to enjoy his newly found fatherhood, he finally got into his brand new studio towards the end of 2012. The outcome was 'Balls' - a ten-minute drive of pulsing intensity bating towards a huge breakdown, unlike any of Wink's work to date...
'I am always surprised with what happens when I go into the studio after not being in there for a while. I feel heavily inspired to make music by all the great things I hear and from personal experiences that have occurred over the past year. I didn't expect to make a techno track. However, the grooves came quickly and naturally along with the hypnotic analog pulses. Originally I came up with the foundation of my grooves using a beta version of Ableton's Live 9. And after I constructed the fundamentals of the track- I hit record, tweaked and grooved the components live for 20 minutes, and then tightened up and edited the best parts into a sequence. Then I played out, got some new ideas from crowd interaction, and re-tweaked and made improvement.



When describing the track to Matt (Ovum label manager) I was saying that I think that you really have to have balls to play this track, as it's a little different from most of the music out there right now. The track's time couldn't be edited down any further as the story and journey wouldn't be conveyed. So, the ten minutes is DJ friendly and I'm happy that I can express my tale. The track, usual of my work, is based on aural textures and tension. The breakdowns have changed through several attempts, and are now adjusted to drive the crowds, whether in clubs or festivals.' - Josh Wink
When you're as iconic a figure as Josh Wink, it's noso easy to sum up a career in a few words—but there are a couple of terms that might serve to get a handle on the seminal electronic-music producer's lifework. One of the most apt, certainly, would be longevity. A brief scan of Wink's mammoth résumé reveals the following: Early-'80 days as an underage mobile DJ; a major role in fostering his native Philadelphia's burgeoning warehouse scene during the house-music explosion later that decade; name-making '90s club hits like 'Don't Laugh,' 'Higher State of Consciousness' and 'I'm Ready'; a label, Ovum Recordings, that's undisputedly one of the most essential dance-music imprints; and his current position, after all these years, as one of the scene's most vibrant and creative DJs and producers (witness the critical success of his 2009 long-player When A Banana Was Just A Banana).

After the extremely solid album of the Romanian due earlier this year, Cristi Cons and Vlad Caia (SIT) are coming up with a beautiful limited edition vinyl release on their new home label - Sushitech. The original version of Alternate is a warm and dreamy, atmospheric track that keeps pushing the boundaries of the modern Romanian / Berlin minimal house sound.
On the flip UK legend and label veteran Steve O'Sullivan takes things dubby and funky with his original strong trademark sound. As all other limited edition releases on the label this will probably be very much sought after - don't sleep.

'From Here to Eternity' is the first full length album from Canadian composer Kyle Bobby Dunn since his 2014 long play, 'Infinite Sadness'.

The use of processed guitar and his passion for cinematic swells reaches new realms that are markedly more ominous and dense than his previous long play. Kyle Bobby Dunn also recruited prominent ambient composers and a handful of his favorite musicians to arrange their own instrumentation for several works on this release that add multiple layers of mystery and intrigue of the human mind and heart. Artists that contributed to this effort are: Benoît Pioulard, Simon Scott, Loscil, Pan-American, Wayne Robert Thomas, Isaac Helsen, Mark Nelson, Robert Donne, Maryam Sirvan, and Michael Vincent Waller.

Kyle Bobby Dunn wanted this album to be very much about the eternal conflict with all human emotions and life circumstances and to somehow go even further than the concepts left behind on 'Infinite Sadness'. The moods and sounds range from angelic choral elements to motion picture soundtrack epics; permeating the skeletal system of the listener with a sense of boundaries and mortality. There are also moments that capture the dynamics of the artist performing in the live setting perfectly and were engineered meticulously by Matt Rogalsky and Kyle Bobby Dunn himself. Truly a difficult album of unending loss, confusion, pain, identity, disease and even death, but also include the most reflective and warm moments of his career to date.

A side TKOTN functions as a tense, glitchy club cut punctured by an explosive tribal drum pattern, manipulated vocals and a visceral, bass-driven pulse. It's a new year and what better way to celebrate it than with a new release and a new artist. As Liluzu, Lachlan McGeehan debuts on Kalahari Oyster Cult with What's Your Star Sign. Part of Australia's growing pool of musical talent, McGeehan combines a wide spread of influences and styles to arrive at his own unique sonic personality.

'I Think That...' opens the 12'. Classic breakbeat percussion is countered by chanting samples and silken chords as western grooves collide with the exoticism of the east. Tribal toms are cut by a rasping drum for the Bubble Mix of 'Arreca.' Delicate notes flutter next to squelchy basslines and aquatic flows in this dreamy and imaginative work. BPMs rise as 'Scale Libra' makes itself known on the flip. Shapeshifting melodies glow from the outset, bright notes dawn and shine in this track of new age optimism and old-school class. The I Love You Mix of 'Scale Libra' muscles up rhythm patterns, sourcing extra pound through thick kicks while adding height to the ascending lines of the Liluzu's version. A provocative dust-mask remake by Sentiments that captures all the enthusiasm and grace of the original as it nods to the verve of the 1990s dance scene.

And again (as 'Zamacona' did on the 002 release) in this case they bring back another legend from the late 90's. Mark Ambrose delivers a 'breaky techno tool' remix that will blend perfectly with anything at any moment, again timeless material for the heads.

Neville Watson returns to DBA with The Midnight Orchard, his first full-length in five years. Watson is a key figure on the electronic music scene at large and has made regular appearances on Don't Be Afraid, as well as on celebrated imprints such as Crème Organization, Clone and Rush Hour, where he released some of his best-known work alongside Kink.

In a crowded landscape of factory-line jack trax and synthesis for the sake-of-it, it's little surprise that Watson's physical, arresting takes on house and techno have been such a staple in the record bags of the world's leading DJs for the past twenty years. Throughout The Midnight Orchard, Watson seamlessly bridges his futurist leanings gleaned from a lifelong commitment to electronic music with the anarchic spirit of his acid-house heritage.

The record still finds catharsis in the relentless pulse that has defined Watson's life since his early residencies where he peddled ecstatic escapism to towns on the commuter belts of London, notably via his involvement in seminal Reading party Checkpoint Charlie. However, there's a more somber, arguably introspective and perhaps even somewhat wistful tone at play throughout. This might surprise those who've invested their feet and hearts in tracks with titles like Night Of The Inflatable Muscleheads and Everything I Know About House (I Learned on Facebook).

In a move away from his previous musical leanings, The Midnight Orchard embraces a distinctly more UK sound, unapologetically chronicling the paranoia that can be found skirting the euphoria of rave. And while Watson has avoided the eyebrow-arching pitfalls of the self-serious DJ full-length, it must be noted that the rhythms here are more skittering, the atmosphere less jubilant and the signature lo-fi hiss, fully popularised and bastardised since Watson's last album, has taken on a more fore-boding tone.

Meanwhile, the atmosphere elsewhere harks to a more idealistic world, particularly on the cascading and subdued Eine Kleine Emusik, and the euphoric We Own The Night. Twin Tub and Reet Dux provide dubby, sensual moments of escapism. There's uncompromising, hard-nosed rhythms on Dee Sides, and cosmic electro throughout 4am in the Trees. The album then concludes in a bold fashion with Displays of Brotherly Love and the resolutely hopeful atmosphere of Phosphorescent.

Reflecting decades of immersion in club culture and taking inspiration from wider-found sounds, The Midnight Orchard is loaded with thrilling parallels and a sense of genuine unpredictability. Tracks like Come On In and Anarcho Midnight are layered with unease, utilising pitch dark arpeggios and skittish, growling electronics to devastating effect.

Having dedicated the last eighteen months of his life to the studio, Watson has rec-orded what is undeniably the most unexpected music of his career. Amid the dark-ness, The Midnight Orchard has borne fruit.

From the redwood forests of Big Sur and the industrial warehouses of downtown Los Angeles comes PFEIFFER, a label dedicated to quality and a diverse musical output. Pfeiffer follows in the footsteps of labels such as Svek and Kompakt, known for releasing a wide range of techno and house with a common thread of unique and unpredictable energy. Looking to bring this type of eclectic curation into the modern era, Pfeiffer draws inspiration from the raw simplicity and effortless magnetism of its namesake location on the central coast of California.

Pfeiffer's third release sheds its veil of anonymity in style, bringing U.K. pioneers Waze & Odyssey to the label. Hot off the success of their summer smash "Everything," Waze & Odyssey's latest track 'Upper Thrust' is a veritable journey, twisting and turning through deft synth stabs, ravey vocal cuts, and a dreamy breakdown. The Chicago influence is clear, but it's truly a beast all its own. On the flip side, label head Chris Simon offers a dance floor-focused remix centered around a driving groove and a weighty bass riff.

Ellen Allien launches her UFO Inc. label with an EP that features the epic 'UFO' which has been on heavy rotation in her DJ sets all summer long. Between 'UFO' and the hard-hitting acid belter 'Korpermaschine' on the flipside, the 'UFO' EP perfectly captures the energetic hardware sound of Allien's new imprint, which will be dedicated to a rough and raw approach to contemporary techno.

Following on from 2017's experimentally-focused EP, 'Nucleus', Axon finds Phantasy regular Ghost Culture return with an urgent, pristine slice of club euphoria, backed by a standout remix from Legowelt. The original version of 'Axon' powers ahead with a supremely physical bassline and a ghostly atmosphere that's slathered with atmospheric choral touches, contrasted by punching, powerful drums. Each perfectly tuned element weaves a seriously impressive spell of charismatic, contemporary electro.

'Axon's original form is then driven underground and transformed into something truly psychedelic at the hands of legendary producer and synth legend, Legowelt. Coaxing out one of his distinctive acid lines, the Hague resident unravels a heady, hazy atmosphere of creeping euphoria amid a spectral, twilight groove.

With productions dating back to 1994, James Bernard has gained a cult following for his combination of atmospheric analog beats and modular synthesizers. His debut album, 'Atmospherics' is often heralded as a classic by the diggers who stumble across it, and James' 'Unreleased Works' are a hidden gem of early 90's electronica (if you're lucky enough to own a copy on CDR of course). James has been busy experimenting and refining his modular setup over the years, to the extent that a full album of beautiful music, created live in one take on a sunny afternoon, comes to life once more here on ASIP. 'Atwater', was performed live during a 2018 'Modular On The Spot' event, held in Los Angeles' North Atwater Park. With his custom analog modular rig, a small set of speakers and a generator, James took the afternoon audience on a glistening tour of the beautiful sounds to emerge from a Moog Mother 32, custom built filters and various Eurorack modular sequencers, modules and effects. After hearing James' set, ASIP proposed presenting the music in permanent form for everyone who missed that special day. James initially took the chance to recreate the set and edit versions ready for a release, but after careful consideration, it was decided to release the raw unedited live version of his set (mastered by Rafael Anton Irisarri) forever cementing that special moment and irreplaceable emotion found in North Atwater Park that one afternoon.

The 68th edition of the DJ-Kicks mix series is another landmark one, withexperimental producer Laurel Halo taking the reins. The American's adventurous28 track trip features seven exclusives, including two of her own plus thosefrom Rrose, Machinewoman, FIT Siegel, Nick LeoIün and Ikonika. An electronic outlier, Halo hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan, but has been basedin Berlin for a number of years. Landing on labels like Hyperdub, Honest Jon'sand Latency, Halo has released a body of work ranging in style, yet cohered byproduction and compositional tendencies that sound distinctly her own. Herstudio work tends to be a multi-layered mix of the electronic and theacoustic, the organic and the synthetic. As a DJ, meanwhile, she lays downmore floor focussed mixes of techno, bass and worldly drum rhythms, and herlive sets are similarly visceral and direct. Halo's DJ-kicks packs a lot in to just 60 minutes. It kicks off with the firstof two of her own exclusives, 'Public Art', a tactile piano loop that sets themelodic tone of the mix in focus. Crunchy drums soon take over and begin whatis a blistering ride through electro, trippy minimalism and textures thatrange from icy and dubby to steel plated and sharp from the likes of Red Axes,Parris and an exclusive from Rrose. Another exclusive, rough and ready cut from Machinewoman follows, before themid section twists and turns on surging drum patterns, frantic industrialtextures and spaced out gqom sounds from the likes of Griffit Vigo, DarioZenker and Final Cut. This is a mix forever on the move: one minute itstightly coiled and kinetic, the next it's loose and joyful before switchinginto more cerebral and insular passages that keep you intrigued. Fusing together so many disparate sounds and textures is no mean feat, butlike everything Halo does, here they all add up to something as thrilling andedgy as it is unpredictable and compelling.

Möd3rn is a global project from Electric Rescue, Maxime Dangles and recently Kmyle Replace Roman Poncet aka Traumer to push farer is own solo projects. This trio wante to give a side project from their own solo career. It's a band, producing, playing live but it's also a label created only for the trio productions. For that one the famous trio propose 4 huges bombs trying some new directions and influences into techno, dance floor and music journey was the main line and the result is ... Modern as Möd3rn.

Museum and Indigo aera team up for an exciting new chapter in their story of melodic analogue techno. After being responsible for output on Marcel Dettmann's MDR, Drumcode and two earlier Indigo releases, the two Dutchmen now return withan EP made during a live studio jam session at the end of 2017. Since the files were mastered in summer, the tracks were sent out to a handful of befriended DJs and quickly became secret weapons for the lucky few.

TRUSIK Recordings rings in the new year with their latest release from Melbourne's Pugilist whose prolific output has landed him on prestigious labels like Artikal, Modern Hypnosis, Green King Cuts and now TRUSIK Recordings. Jumping between the interzone of 'bass music' and dubstep, Pugilist crafts four tracks that blend his love of dubstep, dub and techno into an EP that delivers new discoveries with repeated listens.

'Truncated Kicks' is formed from thunderous offset kicks and warehouse scanning sonar pulses, building into a monstrous construct comprised of clipped percussion that slowly morphs into a hypnotic roller as it rushes skyward. 'Reformation' slows down the tempo towards the 130bpm range for a brooding, elliptical rhythmic workout as dubby organ vamps ratchet up the tension and urge the groove forward.

'Chrysalis' flits between dubstep and techno as the track blossoms around lavender pads while digital birdsong echoes. Soon a techno-esque 4x4 kick enters the frame until barely contained bass weight leaves the dance gasping for breath. Closing out TRSK005, 'Pheromone' is another slow burner that conjures images of the early morning sunrise or neon lit alleyways. Gleefully playing with dubstep's halfstep stomp and the rolling nature of techno, the track easily dances between the two genres in a delicious synthesis of both.

With appropriately dense and psychedelic-inspired artwork from frequent graphic collaborator Leftanderson, Pugilist's Chrysalis EP marks a new chapter for TRUSIK as a fledgling label.f

Appleblim's third 12" for Tempa touches on the sonic territories explored on his first 12' (the experimental and amorphus 'Wandered' from Tempa101) while expanding on those ideas.The first track 'Minus Degree' is Appleblim at his most experimental. A beatless affair of sparse soundscapes and atmospheres. Full of tension, and crucially no release, you are swept away by the waves of synths and sub bass. Next track 'Move Them' is more traditional Appleblim — 4x4 and dub techno chords build a sense of momentum over the space of 7 minutes. A traditionally leaning techno tune with a UK twist, Appleblim's use of space and tension will keep any raver entranced.Final track 'Twist It Down' rounds out the EP with a subtle roller. Broken drum patterns and bright synths help in stripping away some of the darker undertones prevalent in the previous tracks.

Rotterdam based duo ARKVS release ''Oppression EP'' through the PRRUK black series. The result is an exciting package of futuristic techno sounds and searing drums. The duo has managed to find a perfectly executed trip throughout the different sides of ARKVS. While the general tone is darkish throughout, there are some uplifting atmospheres and hints of hope to be found in this package. While the title track is a thumping piece of dancefloor techno, the cinematic voyage ''Our Deepest Fear'' is a stand-out production of adventurous electronics. On the B-side we find ''Chose To Defy'', which is a tough work of dark techno and the somewhat more mellow ''Nonviolence'' on which an intrusive bassline is combined with some beautiful synth sounds.

Danny Daze & DeFeKT cybernetically collaborate on this EP finalizing into two fierce electro tracks. Also includes two exclusive locked grooves which are so good you dont want them to stop!!.

Donor, the Brooklyn-based artist, known for his releases on Stroboscopic Artefacts, Semantica and Prosthetic Pressings, steps up on Sublunar with a brand new EP. The record consists of three original cuts plus a remix from the key figure in the legendary 'No Way Back' parties and 'The Bunker NY' resident Patrick Russell.

'Identity Revealed' is the first track of the EP, a half-stepping creature clanking and booming like steelworks surrounded by a claustrophobic noise that increases in intensity during its development.

Patrick Russell, with his interpretation of 'Identity Revealed', raises the temperature level pushing even further the noisy elements of the track and its thick atmosphere while the bassline takes an unpredictable route becoming something sparse and syncopated.

On the B-side 'Lesser Forms' merges booming kick drums with finely sculpted industrial drones, everything is perfectly lined up until the last microscopic sonic detail.

'Forgotten' closes the EP, a tortuous path carved into glitches and twists where every broken beat hits with brute force and moves onward with a curious poly-rhythmic gait.

REPITCH Recordings presents another small collection of club-ready electronic creations. This time around, the label welcomes french veteran and New Flesh / Rave Or Die founder Umwelt, sharing the platter with Canada-born Berlin-based young master Ryan James Ford.
