2nd Underground-music-xperience release

St Louis native & vet of 90s Midwest techno scene delivers 4 tracks reminiscent of his classic work; dark, machine-in-space evoking bangers, with plenty of jack, some sparce medodics, and a touch of bounce.

Stefan Vincent brings the heat with his first solo EP for Anagram, titled 'A Way Out'. The EP opens with 'She Will Keep An Eye Out On Catastrophe': a stunning modernist take on classically composed ambient music. The title track is a melancholic and building track with a healthy dose of four-to-the-floor power. We continue on the flip side with 'Join Us In The Waves': a percussive and swingy acid workout. The last track on ANAGRAM009 is Vincent's 'Everything I See Returns To You Somehow' and it shows the more electro-oriented side of Stefan Vincent's productions with a subtle wink to 90s IDM. Although his approach regarding this track stands on its own, the same profound atmospheric vibe the rest of the tracks have echoes through this layout as well. It's that same echo that stays with us as one of the highlights of our discography comes to an end. Stefan approached this release as a multidisciplinary composition, in which he explores both his musical talent as well as his talent for visual design and painting. The cover artwork of 'A Way Out' was painted by Stefan himself with his music for this release in mind, giving the EP a true Gesamtkunstwerk feeling. This is Anagram number 9, get on it.

The original Klakson funkateers Steffi and Dexter return to true form with three punchy techno/electro cuts! "Zatlap" on the A Side is a lush nighttime driving track with an urgent bassline powering all through the song while spaced out strings develop. The B-side's "Kopstoot" is a pure funk workout in the Detroit tradition while "De Fles" builds a stack of airy pads on top of a playful question and answer bass riff to maximum effectiveness!!!

Figure 86 finds the label's headmaster revisiting a dormant classic from 2005, delivering two extended excursions that pick up on the lunatic vibe instilled by the original while each mix provides for a uniquely new experience. Sitting on the record's A-side is the Hardspace Mix, a sparse and bone dry rhythmic affair, built around the originals characteristic cut-up vocal sample. A hammering thump carries along the track relentlessly, the air of oppression created only amplified by a heavy assault of clangig claps. The digital bundle comes with an even more stripped-back Hardspace Tool version, making it an excellent surprise to throw in and out of mixes. On the flip Faki takes opportunity to show us one of his lesser known sides, taking time to gently develop this Deepspace Mix into a meandering meditative journey. Trading in the vocal for a spaced-out synth opens the track up for the shifting tribal drums to truly work their magic and makes this piece of music feel equally mysterious as it sways with cosmic energy.

Tools of My Purpose goes hard. The new 12' by E-Saggila - solo project of Rita Mikhael who co-runs Summer Isle Records - is beautiful, raucous and engaging. Prior to exploring techno, Mikhael has been rooted in the Toronto Noise scene. She implements the hostile themes of power electronics into bass heavy ear-splitting techno. Across four discordant yet melodic tracks, we catch a glimpse of E-Saggila's potential as a future artist to be reckoned with.

The Divergent label is set to build on the success of its first release with a standout second single this spring, this time from exciting new artist End To End, co-produced by label boss Bimas. The single also features a remix from the head honcho as well as Stephan Krus and is another fine package that is set to further cement the reputation of this up and coming imprint.

Paolo Aliberti is an Italian artist who has worked with labels like Melodica and Stealth since starting out in the '80s. His big and bouncy techno sound has a focus on melody, groove and harmony, and he recently linked with the CEO of Media
Records to start this new alias End To End.

Now he follows up a debut remix with a great new single for Divergent. The fantastic original mix of 'Labyrinth' is a strong, driving production, aimed firmly at the darker floors, and is certain to find favour with plenty of techno's leading DJs. It has slick and icy hi hats, rougher claps and forceful kick drums all surging along and taking you with them as synth sweeps and weird vocals add to the tension. It's a real dance weapon indeed.
Label boss Bimas then steps up to add his own spin and flips the cut into a more boisterous and bristling techno roller with futuristic synths, smooth hits and tripped out pads all hypnotising you as the groove rolls on. It's a moody affair that really stands out.
Last of all, DJ/producer Stephan Krus, who has fifteen years in the game and has been resident at some of Italy's key techno clubs— reworks the track into a dark percussive workout, with brooding pads and menacing bass all locking you in.
This is a fine techno offering once more from the impressive Divergent label.

The second release on Leyla Records is a meeting of techno minds between South West UK's JoeFarr and Martyn Hare. Mode features three blistering cuts shaped from a classic British industrial mould. The record opens with 'The Inside', a five-minute A-side workout for the body and mind pressed on 45rpm for maximum dancefloor impact. A mournful lead rises over a subtly skittish rhythm and the pressure builds gradually towards an ecstatic, yet impossible, release. On the B-side, the pair 'Go Fourth' into machine armageddon. Icy, angular melodies grate against rock solid foundations in a series of switches that keep the listener on the edge. 'Safe Mode' closes proceedings with a gentler touch, a meditative eyes-down moment full of rhythmic flourishes that propels you into the night. Mode is a fluid distillation of both producers' style, three tracks that pay homage to the past, have their eyes set on the future but remain all about the present moment, sweat dripping from the ceiling as the crowd goes off. It's another strong salvo from Leyla Records, proclaiming the Amsterdam-based label's intention with righteous fury.

The debut release from UK based label Brick Recordings "Cracking Skies", is a three track EP written and produced by Rob Gribbin. Featuring subtle deep house and techno grooves. The attention to detail and sonic quality is evident within the music.

Skatebård is back on Untz Untz Records. This time in collaborative mode with Stiletti-Ana to present: The Finsk-Norsk Body Language Society.
The short version of the story goes: Skatebård and Stiletti-Ana meet at a party they both played at hosted by Untz Untz in Berlin 2011. Stiletti was there as part of the duo Jesse. A drum machine gets a Skate signature on it at the end of the night. Jesse remixes Skate's 'Confirmation Bias' track for Untz Untz in 2013. Fast forward to 2017 and here we are with the deal that was unknowingly signed in 2011 fulfilled.
This record was recorded, mixed & dubbed live straight to a two track stereo tape recorder, during a fine January weekend in 2017 at Stiletti's Haista II Studio on the island Suomenlinna outside Helsinki. We hope you like Standard Moderne, a Moderne Standard.

Electro-burner A sidesteps along sharp edged percussion, w/suspicious synths lurking in the background among fractured vocal glitches. The flip is heavy w/bouncing breaks & wonky bass, airy pads bringing a sense of levity in the back half of the tune. #20

Avalon Emerson's latest EP, Narcissus In Retrograde, explores four different styles that shape her distinct voice as a producer and songwriter, from symphonic showstoppers to broken acid.
Opener "Natural Impasse" ferries massive melodic themes through a network of emotive capillaries that's underpinned by charging drums, while "Dystopian Daddy" dons a theatrical flare
with costume-changing arpeggiators and digital brass beef that command attention like a stage-hogging space alien diva lip-syncing for new wig money. The B-side takes a more menacing
turn with "Why Does It Hurt", the outright techno achievement of the record, and the snarling closer "Groundwater". Ethereal vocals on the former punctuate kicks and growls that sound like
they were pulled from a pedal monster's electric guitar, and on "Groundwater", a crucible of fucked breaks and acid cut a ravine through a bed of off-staccato hats and a sample swamp.

After a split release with Chambray on Ben Sims' Hardgroove in 2016 Greek-producer George Tounisidis is set to drop a new 12' for Symbolism in November entitled 'Solidarity'.

With his first two cuts for the British DJ's imprint picking up support from the likes of DVS1, Jackmaster and Anthony Parasole it's unsurprising Sims has tapped him for a full release on Symbolism. Since signing, tracks from 'Solidarity' have also featured in both Ben Sims' Boiler Room and Run it Red radio shows, resulting in a barrage of requests for release details which tees up the EP nicely.

Musically, 'Solidarity' moves between scattered sequences and stabs ('Three Clicks Left' & 'Solidarity'), muted hypnotics ('Nekyia') and fractured acid ('Workers') while all retaining the distinct sense of movement and dynamism that typifies Symbolism releases.

Lucindo returns for his 2nd release on 3TH Records which he runs with Ascion and D. Carbone.
Alien Rebellion enters with atmospheric textures and strings rising from the abyss into a new world of deep tension and emotion. Once the dust has settled, we enter full out attack with industrial rhythms, ruffled percussion and acidic lazer beams. The journey continues along paths unknown, dark underlying elements of the alien attack is upon us, Insanity and anxiety enter the inner dimensions of the mind. The chase is on and battle commences as we feel the power and the energy of the sonic weaponry. As we make it through the other side we feel cosmic clouds of waveforms encapsulate us, as we make our homeward journey

Roots In Heaven is a Berlin-based act that could very easily capitalize on his past accomplishments within the world of intrepid electronic music. As a label owner, resident DJ at cutting-edge clubs, and accomplished solo artist behind a number of conceptually unique full-length albums, the conceiver of this project won't likely need any introduction to the intrepid fans of electronic music. As an extension of this artist's already solid commitment to deep sound, Roots in Heaven represents a new voyage without the help of biographical cues to his listeners: hidden behind an evocative mesh mask lined with obsidian feathers, Roots in Heaven ignores the need to provide 'social proof' or self-justification. He communicates purely through the language of concentrated sensory impression, for which reason he has titled his debut, 'Petites Madeleines,' after one of the most memorable descriptive sequences in literary history (the famous meditation on the madeleine from Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu). Built on a chassis of pure analog electronics, unaided by computers, 'Petites Madeleines' presents a single sprawling track whose immersive, meditative quality initiates participants into a realm of reversed energy currents. Using a sonic technique which, for example, drapes the listener in darkness until it becomes light (and vice versa), this piece provides a pervasive feeling of other realities opening up that complement the already familiar. The looped pulses and frequency sweeps hover and expand with all the assuredness of, say, early-'70s Cluster, but without anything consciously 'retro' or overtly referential in their presentation.

For it's seventh release, Banlieue Records showcases the work of Budapest-based producer AIWA through a mini album full of dreamy and ethereal sounds. With a subtle nod to the sound design of previous decades, AIWA is channeling inspiration from some of the more cosmic genres but never compromises on a forward thinking attitude that means this release can't be pinned down to a specific genre, rather, it is another example of the unique music Banlieue Records is currently nurturing. From beatless tracks that are anything but static to cuts with a more club-oriented groove, AIWA's sound is on the surface a stripped down, no frills a air. Without compromising on sounding lush, his productions invite the listener to dive deep into the worlds evoked in each track. These often convey the sense of upwards motion, while pulling the listener into a whirlpool of emotion.

This release was a follow up of sorts to my remix of Ricardo Tobar's « If I love you ». Having spoke to Jerome Mestre of Desire a few times since the remix, he and I decided that it would be great to follow it up with a dance focused release. The idea behind « Parisian Summer » came after I played the Weather Fesitval in Paris during the spring of 2013. The atmosphere was amazing and so many new ideas emerged from my experiences there. « PartyDaze », « Svetlana » and « MadDance » were all created ahead of my show at La Machine that weekend. All three of those tracks were made with the purpose of capturing that raw energy that was being given off by some of the best crowds I've ever witnessed. In Paris they party with you not to you, so it was important for me to create songs that captured those moments when the crowd was at their most energetic. « Irregular Bedfellows » was created as a nice counterbalance to the high energy drive of the previous three tracks and « Uneven » was to bookend of the whole EP. Created several years ago it languished in the completed folder on my hard drive. Never really finding its right place until this project came along. We eroded pre-existent structures constructing an open heterotopic space, a horizontal and vertical thinking found its way through physical- and cyberspace, Here, nothing manifested instantly - flippancy left space for any kind of interaction and appropriation. Within (or well beyond) economic pressure points which diluted production, this was our opportunity to try out different potentials with no restrictions to the public, while simultaneously scrutinising the general framework of institutions and human behaviours.

Population 50201 V2 encompasses dubspeeka's unparalleled status as underground music artist and in turn the fitting foreshadows his second EP on his own imprint Skeleton.

After a first EP from BNJMN, new Creme Organization label off shoot Jericho now serves up a second release, this time from NOFACE. This is a moniker of Mella Dee, a producer who in the last few years has released rough house tracks on labels like Shabby Doll, Omena and Manucci's Misstress. Here he offers three new pieces that show a passion for high energy, lo-fi tracks with inventive grooves. 'Saturate' is littered with old school signifiers but is essential a brutal, high power techno banger with immovable kick drums, slithering percussive patterns and fiery vocal ad libs that imbue the track with a sense of afro-futurism. 'Polar' is a similarly physical track with massive, monstrous kicks, reverberating synth lines and a barreling sense of groove that washes over you like a braking wave. Finally, 'Warrior Charge' is another physical and functional cut with robust drums, oversized hi hats and woodpecker like hook that demands you stomp and head bang from start to finish.

Fox Venom by Strahinja Arbutina, is a seismic force be reckoned. 20 years of great music

Initially coming from a background in the musically raucous worlds of 2 Step and Garage, Synkro has, over time, developed a sound that is altogether more introspective, more emotive and more emotionally complex. Stepping up here with his second release on legendary Apollo Records, Synkro delivers eight tracks that - while retaining some of the stutter and swing of Garage, are far more rooted in the textural world of ambient music for which Apollo is famed.
There is a consistency in Synkro's work throughout this release that suggests an artist who is heading in a singular direction and very much crafting their own sound. All eight tracks come drenched in thick layers of smoky reverb and make use of long drawn-out, drone like textures to set up these atmospheric musical canvases within which Synkro then crafts his rhythmically complex, emotionally mournful sound sculptures. The use of vocals is sparing but effective and skillful, as evidenced in the spoken word samples and pitched up R&B vocals on Acceptance and Spirals, and the beautifully pitched effected voice on Don't Want.
There is a move towards more organic textures, too, with a genty played acoustic guitar featuring prominently on Mutual Divide (a track that features fellow Apollo artists Indigo), and broad, open guitar strums forming the backdrop to another of the tracks here, Disappear. The use of these sounds and timbres again points to an artist crafting music that transcends the nightclub obsessed world of modern electronic music and creating music that has a more time-worn, grown up feel to it.
Listening to all eight tracks in their entirety, the listener is transported into a parallel aural universe of late night, reflective states that feel weighed with a certain sadness but still retain an unmistakable underpinning of hope. Within that, there's something very current about Synkro's output - a kind of expression of how fractured and disparate life in the early part of the 21st century has become - where hyper modern production technology rubs shoulders with virtually untreated guitar and sad, distorted voices; where the constant chatter of electronic communication fails to distort the isolation of the modern world. To be able to distill these sensations and emotions into music, as Synkro does, is a rare skill and guarantees that Synkro is an artist who we'll be hearing a lot more from in the future.

Wavy patterns of sound and light bounce off of Penelope's literary vocal bursts, layered over the ominous deep synths and arpeggiators, held together only by a strict 4/4 beat. The rhythm, ironically forcing the body to move, however internally focused and mindful, still.
Record two, ALONE, takes the club offline and into the fringes of raw, odd pop.

Detroit isn't just a place. Sure, it IS a place, and those who physically live there know its triumphs and its tragedies far better than anyone else. But Detroit is also a feeling, a sound, a philosophical home for those who connect with the futuristic, dystopian sounds of Detroit techno and electro on a deep level.

Those tendrils of connection reach far and wide, bringing people from all over the world into orbit with the people and sounds of the city, connecting through the snap of a snare, the wiggly groove winding its way through the beat, the beauty in the sound of strings, the anger in a bubbling bassline.

On this label collaboration between two modern purveyors of techno and electro, Detroit Underground and Detroit Techno Militia have brought their game face and also connected Detroit with producers from elsewhere who've long been tapped into the techno and electro zeitgeist.Activating legendary techno mystery collective Scan 7 for the leadoff title track Direct Effect, they take us on a high speed chase, a desperately frenetic percussion jam crunching its way through the bass bedrock for maximum damage. DTM's T.Linder then slams down the accelerator on a brutal remix, kicking up the stomp and reversing the bass for a subtle melodic turn, while the ride cymbals cut deep enough to draw blood. Romania's Andrew Red Hand, known for his fierce electro production, does not disappoint with his remix. He drops down into the classic low slung bass and snare rhythm, letting the metallic bass bubble up like a submariner surfacing with soundsystem intact.

Rounding out with a cave dwelling minimalist stomper are extant techno legends Teste. Originally from Hamilton, now based in Berlin, Teste bring their hypnotic sensibility to a hammer beat to end the remix lineup with a bang.

Packing much sonic variety into four tracks, Direct Effect shows that Detroit's heart is still beating strong, collecting people in the path of its sound, mapping out a line between techno soldiers far and wide. It's what made the city great, and why it remains the spiritual home of techno.

The one and only Joey Beltram delivers a remix of Jungle Love with a techno electrifying spinoff complete with strong drum basslines and favoured by the industry's best.

Helsinki based label 'Friendship & Decadence' was setup to tap in to the Helsinki electronic music scene and highlight those young and talented producers who inhabit the city.
The first release comes via the collective known as 'Joint Minds', comprising of three artists Autoexec, Poly Sone & Miss Kade.
The 2 tracks are both live jams recorded using a host of outboard and analogue equipment. "Commotion" fills the a-side of the vinyl with a throbbing acid bassline and pulsating industrial stabs, whilst the flip side takes a more stripped back approach. With "Headstuck", a delayed piano floats around rolling drum pattern, UK techno influences aplenty.

MASSIVE NEW MIXES OF A TRUE TECHNO CLASSIC

Mark Henning delves into his bag of tricks for release no. 4 on his own imprint Swing Recordings.

After the release of "Moderat live" on CD and on all digital channels last November, the album is now finally available as a carefully designed 2x12" longplay vinyl-box right in time for the summer festival dates. The manufactured cardboard box features a hand-pulled screen print adaption of the cover artwork and includes the 20-page long exclusive photo book "in my eyes" by Birgit Kaulfuss. The new edition contains the same tracks as the original one, on double vinyl. This issue is limited to 1250 pieces worldwide via distribution channels.

In the space of two short years Shlømo has quickly established himself alongside the likes of Marcelus, Bambounou, Francois X and the Antinote Records crew as a key figure in Paris' current techno generation. Having established his own Taapion Records label in 2013 and built a roster around a core of local producers including Roman Poncet, PVNV and Antigone, in addition to enlisting Stephen Brown, Conforce and Sterac as remixers for the label's releases so far.

For its fifth release, Bright Sounds - run by fellow Parisian Kennedy Smith - revisits last year's Rechaïm EP (BSRX003), with a trio of remixers offering their own takes on Shlømo's established deep and expansive sound.

First up is the aforementioned 50 Weapons artist Bambounou, who offers a dynamic groove-based version of the title track that bounces along an elastic kick drum with cut-up fragments of the original's atmospheric pads providing further impetus. Label owner Kennedy Smith takes on Theory Is The Worst by bringing its dub textures to the for while filling the track's empty spaces with intricate drum patterns.Finally, Italian techno pioneer Donato Dozzy turns Grounded Queen into a classic Dozzy slow-burning techno trip, with his trademark layered sound complimenting the track's subtle rhythmic backbone.

Italian producer Alfredo Mazzilli presents us with Logical Strength, his second EP on Weekend Circuit. Across 4 tracks he expresses his own unique take on the deepest strains of Techno and it's outer reaches.

EP opener 'Logical Strength' is a throbbing piece of driving, menacing wormhole music with heavy arpeggiated sounds and rock solid, incessant drum-programming, leaving nothing standing in it's wake it is a firm statement of intent. 'Nuvole' see's the pace change slightly, adopting more of an eerie, borderline hallucinatory feel. The track unfolds beautifully with heavenly pads and synth swells draped across some tribally infused drums.

On side 2 we have a stellar remix of 'Nuvole' from eminent Swedish producer Evigt Mörker who travels a more subdued, sedate path with his interpretation. Finishing off this 4 track excursion we are drawn into the beatless, introspective terrain of 'Parhelion'. A beautifully nuanced and subtle way to close things. Washes of synth and atmosphere embrace us as we travel onwards, deeper into the night. Alfredo Mazzilli shows us once again his own individual and unique style on this EP, another essential chapter in the Weekend Circuit story.

To mark the release of their sophomore album, Dark Sky present a pair of remixes of their latest tracks. Brace yourself for a double treat of raw dancefloor virtuosity via Miami and Munich.
Omnidisc labelhead Danny Daze takes on the atmospheric march of - The Walker', creating an eerie and intensely long build-up that eventually gives way to a slamming yet ethereal EBM finish.
Next up are Munich's techno overlords the Zenker Brothers. They infuse - Kilter' with some genuine breakbeat magic and hard-hitting industrial vibes while brilliantly reinventing the original track's melodic themes. Spot-on.

The Swell EP follows a similar formula to release number five back in March. Three originals and two tool tracks all from label boss Mike Gervais. Many cut from the same cloth as release five. All good things we think.Elegant Restraint leaves the element stack slim and the sonic field open. Backed by a thumping kick and sputtering resonant basslines while familiar machine hats shimmer in and out. A distant synth stab brings the stereo breath into temporary view as the track steadily marches on.Title track Swell give us more energy and pace than our A1 cut. Delayed synth dribbles chase each other around a heavy handed kick while one percussion element after another comes into play. An early string gives us a peek into what's coming before being chased out by stumbling syths and sharp clap patterns demanding your attention. Swell builds to a peak and breaks back into its heads down mode. One more energy push before she fades out just as she came in.Fist brings high energy pumping push-pull shuffled kicks and cutting synth stabs throughout the duration. A sonar ping rolls in and out of heaving kicks and synth notes while variations of hat percussion keep the energy moving. A mid track shift is anchored by film noir strings and unexpected slaps from the demanding kick all just to throw you back into the heaving shit when the build breaks. The energy and pummeling slow as the strings come back and walk us down to the finish.The tool tracks start out with a useful delayed and twisted vocal loop. Defense System features slowly oscillated filters and delay parameters ensuring a loop useful in many states. The Time It Takes is a swirly three element tool driven by a heavily delayed midrange percussion sequence. A shifty synth line and hats slink into focus before slowly dispersing, leaving us with tapering elements somersaulting over each other.

CONCEPT is the new baby established by the already international well known artist agency My Favourite Freaks, which consists of a four part and monthly released series starting in December 2015. All tracks will be out on vinyl and only for real and freaky club boyz and party girlz. International celebrated artists of the agency collaborated to create such a big collector's item.

Last but not least it's time to finish the CONCEPT series with the fourth vinyl release and again with big names of the music producer scene.

Rhadow creates the first track of the A side. Belong is the name of the tune, which starts with deep sounding kick drums and a deep, groovy bass line. The track is like a DJ tool and with the vocal phrases it tries to drill into your brain. Rhadow made a huge arrangement for a more techno driven house track.

Arjun Vagale isn't a no-name at the techno scene anymore and he is well known for his surprising and always working music, he is creating in his studio and en route from gig to gig. Just as he has done Patterns. Instrument sample loops and fast beats, mixed with sample cuts and a lot of effects, build up to the climax, until the track explodes for the listeners on the dance floor.

Now it gets more techno driven. It's Ramiro Lopez' turn. Mystical synthesizer leads, bass lines and vocal cuts with delay effects are being hammered into your head with his booming kick drum. Hihats are forming the main groove of the track. Head banging is always welcome when listening to Ramiro Lopez Paradise!

With the last title of the Vinyl named Herd, it goes darker. The track made by Rafa Barrios has got a huge hihat and percussion overhead groove sitting over a pumping kick and bass line, running until the quite break down. A build up evolves, until... OH YES! Hands up and keep on dancing!

Rivulet Records are continuing their release just where the compilation at the beginning of the year left us. Again bringing 4 artists together on one release shifting between dusty, mellow house and some how twisted techno. Peonies from russia, who has been releasing tapes on his own label - Summer Night' since 1 year, sets the mood for the record with his track - Soft Light' which sounds almost like a dim, fading memory of a club night full of classy house records. The rework by Ital, the head behind - Lovers Rock' from New York, builds up the mood in a complete different, driving and technoid atmosphere. The B-Side is the first cooperation between two very old friends, Berni from Trier and Jonas Palzer from Berlin, both part of Portray Records. Their tracks are playing with the same kind of hauntology as the A—Side, building up a sound that is familiar and distant in the same way - referring to old records by Boards of Canada as well as to the contemporary sound of - House' at its best meaning.

This highly anticipated release by Los Angeles based artist, AXKAN, delivers a powerful message to the techno underground, letting everyone know this record hasn't come to this point by mistake. With powerful remixes by Luis Flores, Pinion and RolandoHödar to support, AXKAN delivers a strong statement with 'Tension', a techno masterpiece with broken industrial rhythms that is bound to shake floors, and crack the surface. He masterfully creates some true and raw emotion, with his dark, sinister and gritty sounds that is guaranteed to grab attention from the beginning. Axkan's self-confident creativity, however didn't come alone. Techno heavyweight Luis Flores provided a remix that is nothing short of spectacular. He encapsulates Axkan's raw, dark noises, and completely manipulates them into a gnarled and twisted rendition. Pinion's remix perfectly complements the release in a cohesive way to get the dance floor moving. His unique characteristics include a deadly vicious groove with glitchy vocals combined with deep melodies. Aerotek founder, RolandoHödar, had to get his hands in there, with his industrial techno breaks remix to add to this ferocious ride. With all tracks united together, this EP is rooted with serious energy and will undoubtedly tear speakers apart. It exploits experimental to traditional 4X4 percussion workouts and is definitely worth listening.

Jason Letkiewicz isn't some fashionista. His efforts predate whatever you want to call the current wave of interest in club music. Through releases under various aliases on labels like L.I.E.S., Future Times, and his own label Confused House, he has established unimpeachable credibility as he explores and stretches the traditions of techno and house with scholastic dedication. For his first release on Valcrond Video he offers two tracks as Steve Summers. "Always" builds up as a web of metallic syncopation pulsing with threat. A dangerous motif swerves in like pissed-off porpoises, slick with black grime after an oil spill. Vocals show up: they sound like somebody kidnapped a larynx and forced it to MC at the center of a badass board game. A disembodied voice box in the middle of a cardboard landscape. On "Resist" that same captive voice rings through a metal hockey mask, as the instrumental elements seem to narrate an assault in progress. We're taping you down to the table, don't bother to resist. On the B side a Torn Hawk remix takes "Always" to never-never land; the malice of the original track gets dressed up with puffy orange clouds (Cheetos). Traditions go in the toilet, return to the fundamental river, only to wash up in the reeds, fresh again . A melodic explosion hides at the center of the progression under hospital-grade gauze; C-4 strapped to the chest of a stuffed bunny suicide bomber.

Fabriclive 93 contains more Daphni material than the project's entire back catalogue—it's also the first Daphni music to surface Since 2015. "A lot of these tracks were recorded in situ in the mix itself," Snaith says. "I'd put one track in place and instead of searching through existing music to find the track to follow it, I'd just make an entirely new one. The tracks on here pull from very diverse ends of the spectrum of music that I like and make."

Young Argentine artists Franco & Herman Gonzalez give us a second « lost in time » vision of space and life. After "Star Alliance"'s initial release as a limited six tape-box set late last year, it was apparent that there was a need for a reissue, which now comes in the form of this remastered double LP set with a selection of the best work and even a few new tracks added. The story is the same but the narrative has been sharpened. Over the last few years, Varg has manifested himself, not only as one of the most productive new voices in European electronic and techno music - with countless releases and projects - but also as one of the most interesting of the lot. Completely free from any concern of genre notions towards his music, he moves freely between fields and does this in such a fluent way that it is hard to think of anyone that can match him. With the music that makes up "Star Alliance", it is clearer than ever before that Varg - while being an extremely talented techno producer, at the same time is much more than that. "Star Alliance" has tracks of spacious acid standing next to heavy industrial rhythms, piercing abstract modular synth work, beautiful soundscapes, piano pieces and field recordings. And while the techniques, qualities and styles differ with almost every track, they stand perfectly together and shape a beautiful narrative. Thematically "Star Alliance" deals with movement. The heavy melancholia that is present throughout the entire release, reminds us that when traveling to any destination, we will have to leave somewhere else behind. "Star Alliance" that takes its name from a point system between airline companies has a sort of sad restlessness about it. Wherever we are traveling to, it is clear that we won't be there for long, the people are faceless and the cities nameless, The airports, night clubs and company blur, but Hilton always looks like Hilton and Ecstasy is called Ecstasy everywhere.

This debut release takes the form of a various-artists three-tracker.
A-side is Benedikt's "Kraft Sein," a straightforward powerfunk stomper, generous with syncopated clap trickery and pounding kicks. Through the industrial-tinted vibe, a game of filtered stabs and delayed resonances draws an enigmatic landscape.
On the flip, Jean Pierre's "Once Bitten" combines an ever-evolving and introspective synth line with the physicality of a classic bass/909 workout. A detailed architecture of hiss and white noise brings a finish to its mysterious mood.

Acid techno from the Netherlands

Makaton, who made his Blueprint debut in 2015 with 'Nothing Can Be Held In Our Hands For Long' as well as an appearance on this summer's Blueprint anniversary compilation with the track 'Slur', now returns to the label with a 4-track EP, 'When The Dead Rise From The Sea'.

As expected from the Rodz-Konez label head, Makaton (Steve Bailey) who has also been delivering cutting-edge techno on Token and RSB like the recent 'Defiler' surrenders 4 categorical cuts of distortion and destruction. From the experimental introductory 'Durdle Dor' (named after the natural limestone arch on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset) Makaton sets the scene before launching into the foreboding rise of 'High Priestess'. Flipping over, 'Coast To Coast' drives the EP onwards with deep techno beats before the refractory 'Through Fire and Water'.

'When The Dead Rise From The Sea' is not just an EP to slaughter the dance floor but also a self contained slice of Makaton's dark artistry which follows its concept throughout.

After many years of reflexion, who decides to build Get your copy records in Paris this January 2017.He's been making music for 15 years now and he will release the music that make him dance, love, fly.. Deciding which EP to release first was a very tough decision, but make my love represents Lucas' groove and feelings. It's one of his old techno track created in Paris few years ago. it was a one session studio without really work again on it, he lost the project because of a computer problem but he decides to release it anyway. You have on this track a strong rhythm, with heavy bass in the background balanced by a nice hypnotic synth, sexy vocals, and a flying synth that brings a touch of House music. We hope you will enjoy his taste in music.

Perc (aka London based Ali Wells) returns with 'Bitter Music', his third album following 'Wicker & Steel' (2011) and 'The Power And The Glory' (2014). As before the album will see a release on his own Perc Trax imprint, giving Perc the complete creative control needed to realise his vision of what should be a milestone release for both himself and Perc Trax.

Originally a very inward looking album when work started on it in March 2016 the extensive political change happening in both the UK and around the world forced the album to widen its perspective. By the time the album was finished in December, it was clear that the sentiment of tracks such as 'Look What Your Love Has Done To Me' was as equally applicable to the micro-politics of person relationships as it was to concerns for the future of a country in a state of flux.

Pre-production for the album begun at Eve Studios, a residential studio just outside of Manchester, UK which specialises in collecting and restoring equipment salvaged from the sadly defunct BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The palette of sounds created during these sessions lends the album the sound of early electro-acoustic experimentation, especially evident on tracks such as 'Wax Apple'. Live instrumentation also plays a larger role on this album than on any previous Perc releases with Wells playing piano on many tracks and Ian East's flute playing featuring on 'Chatter'. The album also features a number of vocal collaborations including one with Gazelle Twin. Post-production, mixing and arranging was done at Perc's North London studio before the album was mastered by Perc Trax's regular mastering engineer Matt Colton.

Sonically the album takes in everything from strung out vocal treatments to the type of warehouse rabble rousers Perc has made his own since his very first releases. More dance floor focussed than his previous albums yet pulling from a wider range of sounds 'Bitter Music' shows a development and maturing of Wells' music that could not have been foreseen just a few years ago.

Delicately balancing the personal and the political, 'Bitter Music' stands apart from most recent techno albums as it continually pushes outwards rather than concerning itself with the microscopic refinement of already established sounds. It is an album unafraid to take chances from an artist continually looking for his next step forwards.

VENT is guided by Bana Haffar into ethereal vistas open for interpretation. Endless suggestions are offered, each fractaling into sparks of insight leading in turn to more suggestions. Bana's compositions display layer after layer of colourful enigmatic veils, hinting at an inner core of darkness whilst remaining playful and intuitive. Her ideas expand over the length of this LP, and beyond that, further into our minds and bodies with the reverberations of her sounds.

Drawing Inspiration from London's Underground dance scene, Descendents of Sinners' is a result of an ongoing, passionate desire from Dax fusing modern day techno with the sound of classic UK rave culture.

2015 has been a pretty big year for Dax. He's seen successful debut appearances at Berghain and Glastonbury as well as his very well received EarToGround residency with Jaded at Corsica Studios and soon his long awaited debut appearance at fabric.

There is a lot more we can say about the tracks individually but instead we'll let the techno do the talking.

EMEX is the emergent techno act of Athenian producers George Apergis and
Alex Retsis, owners of Modular Expansion Records. The renowned EMEX live performances are based on analog synthesizers and hardware equipment. EMEX have performed live at legendary clubs such as Berghain and Tresor in Berlin.
The brand new EMEX EP "Z80A" includes two original tracks "Z80A" and "Source Code". The tracks go beyond a healthy mix of noisy techno beats, minimal acid synth-lines and dub chords. Modularz Records label boss Developer, remixes "Z80A" into a minimal acid banger with nods to rave, while George Apergis transforms "Source Code" into an epic minimal club tool.

Currently based in Stockholm where he DJs regularly at Late Night City Tracks at Under Bron, Gordo is a mysterious and previously unsigned producer whose music Spencer Parker discovered on a documentary video about Los Angeles' Latino community and its roots in the rave and club scene of the early 90's.

Breakbeat infused and reverberated percussion create the skeleton of opening track 'To The Sky' whilst crafty vocal snippets and saturated chords ebb and flow through its course.

Next up, 'Para Ti' forms a tribal aesthetic with chanting vocal samples, deep bounding drums and hypnotic strings until 'Breathe' generates a timeless house aura with an irresistible lead synth complemented by floating pads. Hailing from a small village near a mountainous place where the borders of three nations encounter, the machine loving Jens Tozzberg now arrived at Fachwerk Records. With his background as club and festival promoter and wih travels through different musical experiences in the wide range from Drum & Bass to Dubtechno his newest project at Fachwerk contains an eclectic live act with influences from Germanys earliest rave culture, chain reacting echoes and heavy bass techno. Also after many years as world traveling DJ he keeps on searching for new ways of DJing, channeling his approach as a producer into his peaktime nightclub performances.

High Mobility Weapons Unit sets off from an unknown location on Earth, making its maiden voyage beyond our solar system and towards a distant galaxy. The 'Transverse Velocity EP' is the debut release on the self-titled imprint, serving up four original tracks that are heavily influenced by mechanical cycles and deep space concepts.
The A-Side kicks off with the EP's title track 'Transverse Velocity', where an array of eroded satellite bleeps and waves loop together as the analogue low-end pulsates rhythmically below. In 'Wave 102' the bleeps are detuned and erratically timed, with a glitchy tape delay unit modulating them throughout the track. The saturated 808 kick drum and processed percussion are given a functional structure, allowing the bleeps to take centre stage. On the B-Side, both 'Cycle 01' and 'Astronomy Tool' serve as stripped-back percussive DJ tools. 'Cycle 01' rolls along with its hollow, muted polyrhythmic stab line, whilst 'Astronomy Tool' drives forward with an effective, crystalline synth hit.

There are depths in humanity which one cannot explore, as there are mephitic caverns into which one dare not penetrate. Madness in any direction, at any hour. The anatomy of human destructiveness, a hole like a sewage drain for the fine clear coat of civilisation, a place where the eye wanders and the lip jerks and drools. If there is such a dark Moloch which deviously knots a thread within us, with which to hold us and draw us down an eerie and delirious path that we would never otherwise have set foot on, then D. Carbone's mephistophelian alter ego Honzo pulls us with his 4th installment 'Distopia - Un mondo indesiderabile' right into its gaping abyss, leading us there where we would have never consented to go.

Panic. It creeps up the spine like the rst rising vibes of an acid frenzy. The haunting chill upon your neck. There is a sound intensity makes while echoing through the body, the epinephrine pumping through the jugular vein, voices from unknown origin, the blood throbbing through the numb extremities, heart palpitations, the flashing visions, cold sweat, the heavy breathing, hyperventilation, dissociation, fight-or-flight. Honzo gives us a vision of what it means to truly be in a world of terror and angst and in the secret bloodlit dark behind our eyes we enjoy the cathartic abreaction this brings us.

After the first two volumes, continuing the saga in vinyl on the label, also time she's proposing a release based on the acid sound, in fact, from here come the names of the three
tracks of "Vol. 3 ", sonically distinct from forms of sound in both the quality of the tone and in the structure, leading to a complete trip right in the underground scene.
The A-side exposes two tracks both dictated by a bassline, a sequence of acid accompanied by a drum-machine percussion, the sounds derive from "machines" that have guided the
analogue creative artist, exposing grit, intensity and quality defined the synth that has a continuous evolution throughout its duration, with a sound much richer in harmonics.
The other side of the coin is the B-side, a product of the collaboration between I.vy & the 90's Peacefrog producer Solid State, a true evolution from the first two tracks, while following
the lodging acid, the B-side results more aggressive and determined, demonstrating a mindset based on a building techno, with a strong impact on the dancefloor.

Orphan Swords see the reissue of their License To Desire' LP on limited edition vinyl on Aurora Borealis on May 15th. The Belgian duo bring a heady, fog shrouded sonic maelstrom to the label, perfect for the post-truth era.

What sort of music is this What genre do we file it under Hard to say. It sounds like a record that Aurora Borealis should release. There's chaos, there's unhallowed chanting, there's some fierce rhythm and there's undeniably some abuse of electronic equipment. We'll leave the definitions up to the listener, but with titles referencing demons of Goetia and the world's oldest profession we'll let the good times roll.

Formed in 2013, Orphan Swords is a Belgian electronic duo. Their music, described as a brutal hypnosis' by Ransom Note, has been released on Desire Records, Clan Destine and Idiosyncratics. Idiosyncratic is indeed a description that perfectly fits both their releases and live performances. Recently back from the US, they have shared bills with acts as diverse as Oathbreaker, Andy Stott and Vatican Shadow.

Their new collaborative side project Black Swords with Stuart Argabright of Black Rain (Blackest Ever Black) was released on Vienna's Noiztank label. "The ten-minute Marchosias'...builds into a droning blur with surging drums, echoed, incomprehensible vocals and all sorts of sharp edges. "Asmoday" conjures its own mass of screeching, cackling distortion, but adds an icy sense of melody through a few sustained synth riffs, and fixes everything to a rolling kick. "Hooker" is the most subdued thing yet from Orphan Swords, but it's no less potent. Its steady bass thrums and light, hazy swirls of harmonized noise make for a supremely soothing comedown." - ResidentAdvisor

Falling Ethics label owner P.E.A.R.L. uses the 8th installment in his FEX series to come up with a remix EP that includes the some of the most exciting names techno has to to offer at this very moment. A great 12'' that includes remixes from man of the moment ''Tensal'', Berlin based ''Phase Fatale' and Stave (member of Talker).

Substrato Records, the label known for its sharpness in quality ambient techno, returns with Truth Is Silence EP, produced by the Italian veterans Retina.it. The label's sonic exploration of earthy elements take us into a cold, introspective journey in the occasion of their 5th edition. The duo explores dark rhythmic atmospheres & opens with the finely crafted Language Of An Inner World, that is followed by a fusion of wrecked synth tones & the eerie sounds of How We Learn Reality. On the flip side, Word As Sound, Sound As Word and Here And Now enhance the spectral side of the release, offering an immersive listening throughout the EP. Retina.it combine textures to layered techno sounds, and establish themselves once again as a true force of atmospheric and dark techno, firmly proved with this keen-edged release.

Label-resident Stefan Vincent drops his first vinyl for Dynamic Reflection. And what an EP 'Elephant's Foot' is; three mesmerizing originals and an outstanding Linzatti remix on top.

Stefan's shedding his 'upcoming' status more and more and turning himself into an artist to watch. This EP is another solid step in that direction.

Killer techno reworks by Maarten Mittendorff (Indigo Aera) of last year's tracks Fyr from Cosime.

'Elocution', the third Figure EP from portuguese producer Lewis Fautzi, again displays a high degree of versatility but still comes cleary cut for the club.

Employing a rich yet spacious sound design, Fautzi creates cinematic scapes that are at once both brimming with the hums of olossal interstellar machinery yet at the same time leave enough room for a range of carefully sculpted elements to do their work. Whether it be the twisted acid arpeggio on opener Shizophrenia, the imposing drones underscoring the mighty Mirror or the propulsive percussion of centerpiece 37B. Testament to Fautzi's talent of engaging arrangement, never do the tracks here feel hurried nor do they become stagnant - but rather given just the right time to ripe into their full captivating potential.

No matter if one is to approach this records as already an avid lover of Lewis Fautzi's work or comes to it simply looking for fresh takes on the classic formula, this enthralling EP certainly will satisfy everyone's needs.

Etruria Beat welcome again the berlinian Dj Oliver Deutschmann! He was already featured on the label with his remix of Dast's 'Architect'. Now he offers two original tracks with a defined and aggressive sound, backed by two huge remixes from Etruria label boss Luca Agnelli and from french Techno stalwart Electric Rescue. * After a brief hiatus, Cold Recordings returns to form with a new release from label-boss Pinch, blurring the boundaries between dance floor sensibilities and experimental spaces. Both sides play at 128bpm making them versatile tracks to play out.
* 'Water Bomb' is finally available after many requests following its appearance on Mumdance's acclaimed Fabriclive mix. Descriptively titled, the track leads with metalic pads and squealing electronics as a distorted bass drum builds to the break. * 'Cold New Worlds' takes on a more hypnotic stance, entrancing and unusual from start to finish. With SA012 Dadub carefully collate legacies of philosophical thought and transpose them into a brilliantly deep EP. The vinyl opens with 'Perseverance' a slick slice of bass that writhes and twists around a syncopated core. On A2 'Temptation of Maya' seizes at the act of perception and what is captured is perfect for the mellow confusion of a Sunday morning. On the flip side the search for transcendence goes further with 'Beyond the Veil' which crackles towards a sense of enlightenment. The EP closes with a golden moment of contentment, 'Moksha'. Surachai presents.....CHAOS with his CAST. Brooding and manipulative, this musical piece invokes feelings of uncertainty, power and surprise. High quality sonics take the listener into a headspace, all the while the body is still tremoring.
FBK delivers a more traditional techno track for his CAST. This piece is alive right from the start. Moving into a progressive syncopation, the music continues to draw you in as otherworldly soundscapes appear.
