The spanish Techno producer David Meiser delivered 2 Tracks for the first Vinyl in 2020 on Analogue Audio. "Voices“ is remixed by label heads Dominik Vaillant & Superstrobe and „Steel Gear“ is remixed by Allan Feytor. Techno produced with passion and it’s definitely a sure shot!

Blackrod’s 8th vinyl called Sweet Pain EP is the third release of the label owner Depthon, who filled the record with original tracks. An EP on black gold loaded with 4 weapons that are ready to add up to every quality techno mix and also will destroy the dance floor.

LowEnd 001 - Existense Is Absurd is the first chapter in the collaborative effort between JohannesK and Duncan Macdonald. With a focus on hypnotic but driving techno, the release features two tracks each from the label founders. Respectively the 2 artists have released on labels such as Key Vinyl, Hayes, ARTS, Krill and more. The focus is an overall aesthetic product that is in balance with sound and art design, with the design again focusing on artists and friends.
Existense is Absurd (a reference to the building Johannes and Duncan live in) is made up of 4 tracks of varying characteristics. The trippy and hypnotic grooves of Time and Cyclopes, with bubbling textures and cinematic ambience, contrast the more pumping Applied Force and Consciousness.

For his first solo release on Knotweed, Argentinian producer DYING comes up with four emotionally charged tracks.

Tara Algios (a.k.a the DJ and producer Jett Chandon) has cemented herself as one of the hardest working artists in Washington, D.C.'s competitive, ever-evolving scene.

Julia is four tracks of murky, atmospheric techno energy - a snapshot of Algios’ own shapeshifting personal journey. “Flutter” is a cosmic mix of electro basslines, off-kilter drums, and driving synths that manage to hit you deep while rising up and up into thin, foggy air. “Warrior” screws with tempos and a chaotic sound palette for a heady roller of a tune that would wake up any dancefloor. “Mind of Surrounded” chops up vocals echoes
and more experimental techno sounds for a late-night trip that’s as
energizing as it is slightly unsettling. The nearly 10-minute “Julia” holds down the EP’s namesake with its soul-soaked synth chimes, progressive melodies, and restrained drums for the record’s most emotional tune. Like Algios’ own journey through the years, Julia is a deeply intimate snapshot of an artist who’s never taken the easy route towards self-discovery, but instead, has built on her experiences and challenges to get to this very moment.

"Way back in the 1990s, Mark Hand, Neil Iceton & Jez Nicholl channelled their love of sci-fi-fired Motor City techno into a string of inspired releases under the alias Cubic Space Collective.

After reuniting for a memorable machine jam at Freerotation festival in 2016, Hand & Iceton headed back into the studio for a one-off session and recorded 'Holiday in Beta Centauri', a musical love letter to Mad Mike and the rest of Detroit's most militant futurist techno crew.

Sending us surging skywards via 'Binary System', where lilting lead lines, fizzing electronics and enveloping chords dance atop a snappy, cymbal-heavy drum machine rhythm, before 'Arps in Hyperspace' sees them step things up a notch via layered waves of synths, sparkling melodies and a driving, hyper-speed groove.

The North-East-based twosome then attempt to warm us to the core in the shape of 'Rigil': restless organ stabs, undulating Michigan bass, alien electronics, psychedelic acid lines and Galaxy 2 Galaxy style chords catching the ear. Bringing us gently back down to earth, they complete their deep space mission with 'Beyond The Nebula (Holiday in Beta Centauri)', a bustling electro number full of stabbing analogue bass, star-burst electronics, meditative ambient chords that shimmer full of night-sky melodies.

A fine return to action for this Teesside UR-loving techno twosome... 3,167 miles away in Detroit, their achievement will be noted."

MATHIAS SCHAFFHÄUSER
Mathias Schaffhäuser’s around in the techno, house and minimal scene since 1994 when his first House EP was released on Definitive Records. Yeah, it's 25 years ago, but creativity goes on: This year will see his new artist album „Hedonism, What Else?!“ on Snork Enterprises, the second album of his project Fanatico on Brooklyn based Hallucienda Records, new EPs on Fenou and Ware Records and several remixes. In 2018 Mathias celebrated the 20th jubilee of his label WARE with 3 releases bringing reworked and remixed Ware classics and 3 more EPs on Tiefschwarz' Souvenir Music, british label legend Third Ear and Biotop Label.

Other releases of Mathias appeared on Mo's Ferry Productions, Compost, Tic Tac Toe Rec., Force Inc., Multicolor, BluFin Records, Adjunct, WIR Recordings, Blaou Sounds and many others. In 1997 he started WARE which released 97 EPs until now (as of February 2019). 2001 saw his massive club hit "Hey Little Girl", 2002 "Musik ohne Bass" entered the clubs. In April 2005 he released his album "Coincidance", its title track was successfully remixed by Trentemøller. On his album „Unequal Equality“ (2009), Mathias collaborated with Lucy, Alex Smoke, Xhin, And.id, Benjamin Brunn and many others, and he produced remixes for Steve Bug („LoverBoy“), Luomo („Tessio“), Faust,

Schaffhäuser’s motto at the turntables is: Purism sucks! The quality of the music is what’s important, not sheer functionality and trendyness. That is: at times his sets can be rather varied from his very own style, dirty + dark house, and thumping techno. And more and more often Schaffhäuser uses his microphone and croons some evergreens to his records which is a very special live experience.

Frame Of Mind is back with a re-issue of another unknown gem from the early 90's. UK production team Dave Campbell and Viv Beeton are most known for their UK techno, rave and bleep classics as Ubik. It is under the alias of Timenet they released an obscure white label in limited quantities in 1992. This untitled and one-off 3-tracker remained fairly unknown up until today. It shows quite a different side of their stunning production talents. Dishwasher is a rough drum machine work out topped with a wild bleepy SH101 synthline a la Mr Fingers. DX Moods is a spaced out techno tune combining mysterious pads and crazy DX-100 programming. With On The Move the UK pioneers come closest to their Ubik sound: Mad UK techno with a hint of rave. A previously unreleased and stripped down version of this track is included as well.

Tripped has been producing hard Industrial electronic music for over 17 years. Releasing a ton of quality EPs and 12" records ranging from full force terror to slow industrial techno. Always pushing forward perfecting his unique signature sound no matter what style or BPM range.

Now the concept has been derived to «Digital Twin«, which seeks not only to have an equal computational model for everyone, but to create «twin» digital models of each patient in order to be able to make personalized medicine from the genome of each individual .Specifically, in our project, we have focused on digital twin brains, which would be representations of patient brains created from data extracted with current neuroimaging and brain activity monitoring techniques.

"Rush to Riot" is the 3rd EP to be released in mid of July 2021 on the Berlin Techno Label INHERIT. After dropping the first Inherit selection IHT S01 back in May 2021 with tracks by Bacch, Geerson, CLTX and many others we are more than happy to announce that this remarkable journey continues - not only with two more original tracks by the co-founders of Inherit, Daniel Heinrich & Disguised, but rather with two exceptional remixed bangers by Hadone & Hioll on IHT 003.

"Rush to Riot" is definitely one of the most ambitious & remarkable tracks ever published on INHERIT so far. The noteworthy collaboration between the co-founders Disguised & Daniel Heinrich brings together what belongs together: trancey basslines and melodic vibrant tunes captivating you on every dancefloor around the world.

Hadone is one of the most exciting Techno artists from France these days and without any doubt his remix of Rush to Riot adds an unique & outstanding layer to IHT 003. His well-known evocative melodies propped up on pounding kicks unite with a more forward-driven interpretation of the original track that brings so much energy to the EP.

"Against the Current" is the 2nd original track on IHT 003 by cofounder Daniel Heinrich with a remix by Hioll, one of the rising stars within the Cuban electronic music scene. While the original track with the progressive baseline by Daniel Heinrich sounds like a famous club banger already Hioll created with his remix a new and distinctive sound, hypnotic techno supported by industrial elements lifting the original track to a new level.

Swedish vinyl only label Kvalia Records breaks a 9-month silence by introducing a meticulously executed 3 track ep by DJ Nobu and Artefakt. Hiiro consists of two original, psychedelic techno trips produced by DJ Nobu, and one re-interpretive sonic journey by Artefakt.

Cocktail d'Amore Music returns from a short hiatus with a new release from Russian producer TMO. The three tracks are tied together by a propensity for heavy rhythm construction and distorted acid lines, executed to great effect. Opening with "Last Moment Jam" , a searing main room projectile, TMO presents what is heavily inspired by early Chicago acid track. For those looking for something on the trippier end, "Drums Jam" provides a low bpm hallucination full of delays. Closing is, "Buchla 909 Jam", a 10 minute slow burn exercise in analog fundamentals for late night fantasies.

The police are now using special forces to locate and defeat Chemistry Radio... The agents from the B.P.D. (Berlin Poser Department) are detaining all those found in possession of acid and electro records. And for those in possession of atmospheric drum and bass, they have a licence to kill.

Chemistry Radio leads the resistance via their transmissions, and along with their artists, they are taking you back underground.

Madrid’s Do/Or/Die delivers Timings third instalment across multiple sub genres while still maintaining his signature sound.

Opening with “Saturn” you’ll hear Bleepy top end & a grooving bass line's perfectly tied together with his signature sequencing..

For the A2 “Vortex” provides punchy kicks and infectious melodies more for the Techno side of the dance floor..

Ever capitalizing on aerodynamic tactics, Anthony Linell's latest EP, 'Layers of Reality,' presents three tracks that exceed gravitational force with the slickest of manoeuvres. Tersely fluctuating and resoundingly austere, the EP has its moments of breezy volatility that punctuates the mesmeric rhythmic cycles to sweeping effect.

For the fourth vinyl release of the well-established Insane Code Recording label, a multifaceted artist is proposed: Forcytek. His works range from various styles of electronics, from classical House to experimentation with industrial-type sequences and sounds. In this work, however, thanks to the vocal accompaniment of an Underground artist: Sadimah (SADI Oortmood), she expresses herself with a track in the Melodic Techno style. On a day of winter weather, inspired by her machines (including the unmistakable classical percussion of the Roland TR-909) and the singer's dark voice, the December One track is generated. From this track, an EP with 3 remixes and an Acappella is obtained.

The first remix is by the producer and artist of the same ICR who takes us on a sonic journey through the effects and voice of Sadimah with very original percussion and timbres created ad hoc with his special machines.
The second remix is from the explosion of Dancefloor, proposed by a great DJ and producer, legend of southern Italy: Federico Guglielmi who with his global vision of music will make us dance from the beginning to the end of the track.

The third remix is proposed to us by another great artist from North East Italy: mister Mauro Novani who with his superfine style and class takes us on a journey between fresh sounds and perfect joints for an infinite physical and mental dance.
In the middle of the EP, Sadimah's Acappella is inserted, to allow DJs to be able to use it and mix it with imagination in their various personal sets.

For the fourth offering of Still Techno, newcomers Ke Thu drop a massive deep techno EP - 'Like A Beacon Against The Fog'.
Ke Thu is a Detroit-based live act consisting of Tim Barrett and Steven Stavropoulos. The two have been making music together for the last decade, developing the Ke Thu alias in 2018. Their music is an earnest exploration of techno and everything it is capable of: ethereal soundscapes, broken beats and rhythms, deep textures, and more

“May Kun Bass” is a play on the Arabic expression ما يكون باس which, affectionately, means “may you come to no harm.”

Newcomer OACEM bends homemade sounds into jagged industrial rhythms that pop, lock, jiggle and stomp. Nodding to dub, electro, minimal, glitch and techno palettes, forged into saturated, twisted chunks of super-heated noise, May Kun Bass exudes a special energy that rewards the active listener. On remix duty: Technique Nado with a downtempo modular dub interpretation (also her first work on wax) and Vertigo Inc on the B3.

With 'Universe Speaks', Reggie Dokes is at the helm of the third release for Still Techno. He is one of the best (and one of our favorite) producers to come out of Detroit and his discography is as massive as his own legendary label Psychostasia Recordings. It is rare for Reggie to drop 4 deep techno tracks on one serving but here we are. All tracks featured on 'Universe Speaks' are an ode to the dancefoor and Detroit, where melodies, jazz, percussions and real electronic music collide to create a new and subtile soundscape.

Cristian Marras - OCD - JoeFarr - Codex Empire

After a massive 30-tracks digital compilation celebrating a decade of existence, Gegen keeps moving forward with the release of their third vinyl record.

Starting it off is Berlin-based Cristian Marras: DJ, Producer and Rebels Conspiracy label founder who plays solid driving Industrial Techno and his track for Gegen is no exception. Opening with ethereal chants like a coven calling to arms, Asymmetric sounds like an existential journey from awakening to action, the switch in state of mind materialized by a menacing acid line immerging halfway through, leading us out of darkness.

Next is UK’s JoeFarr, a versatile and skilled craftsman who recently got music out on Soma followed soon by a release on Rebekah’s Elements. His track for Gegen is the bittersweet Timeless, built on the duality between soft emotional hopeful melodies and raw distorted cutting martial basslines and crushing sound design.

On the B side, Berlin’s OCD’s artist statement centered around the ideology of pain and the battle against anxiety caused by a senseless world with the goal to turn people’s fear and information overload into rage and find pleasure from overwhelming emotions in modern rhythms is in full effect on her track Egoismus. With its mournful pads like heartbroken fairies floating above an army on the move and thumping kicks characteristic of her hard sound, OCD brings you into an oneiric state where everything is out of control and too fast — a metaphor for our ages.

To round it all up is British-born, Vienna-based Codex Empire whose productions you might have heard on aufnahme + wiedergabe or Sacred Court. He brings to Gegen his signature dark and intense techno with Hagane, a track built on heavy rhythmic elements and metallic pounding sounds bouncing off each other for an unstoppable groove.

Take a trip down memory lane and relive the early 90’s with Bonzai’s second foray into the compilation arena – Extreme Chapter. Originally released on CD only in 1993, the sound of the underground rose up to the masses, showcasing a plethora of top tracks and a rising talent pool within the Belgian electronic music scene. It was just 1 year since the birth of the label and already the back catalogue was stuffed with club and rave hits. The Bonzai brand soon became synonymous with banging beats and sweaty mega-raves, and all this was thanks to a huge upsurge of talented youngsters. After the great success of the first release, Deluka prints the next chapter of "No signal records", The author of the release is Giri, Neapolitan DJ and producer, owner of "Antiterra" records. Giri after his album "Antichthon" released on Jeff Mills' "Axis records" gave us three perfect tracks of extreme quality, ranging from vibes between space and forest. Following the remix of the Spanish Techno Master "Tadeo", with a superb work.

Detroit Electronic Quarterly serves up the latest volume of tracks in their ongoing series and it is another crucial one that starts with a particularly potent spoken word. Nandi's 'Detroit Tells Its Techno Story' speaks about how the genre is often referenced by huge stars of the music world but never itself gets much credit. After that A7MC drops a nice raw hip hop beat and Shawscape Renegade offers some slippery analogue electro to make your ass wiggle. The ever underrated Eddie Fowlkes also contributes a vibe-y and dynamic deep house cut amongst other great tunes from Luke & Jeff Hess and ADMN which all show the varied and vital nature of the Motor City's output.

Dimi Angelis is a pivotal element in European and universal techno scene, alone or teaming up with Jeroen Search his tunes has been around from quite a while and finally he is landing with a complete EP in Warm UP.

Dimi provides three energetic cuts, fast, dirty, futuristic and funky all at once.

First cut Fluid Shifts is made of a distorted bassline, shuffled 909 hats and bleepy short sequences in a non stop arrangement. Note the synth hit that comes in and out from time to time.

Following there is Hidden Figures, under the same path soundwise, alternating distortion with crispiness, this time a bleep tone is the main element, liying on top of a continuous and dirty bassline as well as the usual 909 hat action. Another torpedo that will sink many boats on a proper dancefloor.

Closing the release comes Spinoff, again in the same sound parameters combining overdrive with clean elements, dirty bass frequencies again, clear kicks, 808 hatas and nothing else, just hypnosis, reduction and repetition.

In this times when everybody souds the same, it's good to have original maker like Dimi, providing the right stuff for those who know.

“F. Free & H. Hand take control of HOTONES001, with a reissue of a not just rare but colossally fabled record that only ever made it to test press in 1995. Ten copies were produced of this three-track excursion into the analogue heavy echelons of a deranged technosphere.

‘Headwash’ shudders through your body like electricity, off-kilter bleeps miraculously balancing the composition, while a menacing bassline inflates your lower body, and some. ‘After All’ drops the pace, employing the iconic Ensoniq DP-4 to create moist, meandering patterns that epitomise the 90s hedonistic German subculture in which the record was developed. The record’s finale, ‘J.S.B #2’ is the most ruckus cut of the lot, playing with heavy leads, synesthesia inducing scenes of strobe lights are inevitable - pair the two, and you have outright carnage.

jamesjamesjames hovers somewhere between Y2K house and super-sugary PC music, creating a unique and sexy sound that just feels expensive. The Melbourne-based artist has built a large following with poppy earworms and pounding house, and now joins Shall Not Fade's Classic Cuts series for a full EP of hits.

james2007EP starts with the anthemic "It's Not You, It's Me"; pairing the rumble of jungle breaks with melancholic, airbrushed vocals that show their SOPHIE influence, it's an eye catching opener. "My Purple iPod Nano" has a sound palette which will transport you straight back to a 00s club night, teasing a climax that stays just out of reach with pumping synth stabs and a kick drum that packs a punch.

On the B-side, "Orange Tesla" is a high-pressure roller that centers a pacey melody - sure to be a 3am dancefloor energiser. The record closer, "I Dunno Her", brings back the emotive edge with spaced out pads and glittery little ear candy moments overarching the still-racing beat. Territroy, the Greek duo of Panagiotis Melidis (Larry Gus / DFA Records) and Stathis Kalatzis (formerly Mr. Statik), release their first album Skulls & Plants on Dekmantel's UFO label. A collection of experimental and spacious deep techno, psychedelic ambiance and compelling drums that draw you into a unique world of rhythmic sound and expect in DJ sets from Lena Willikens, Helena Hauff, and Vatican Shadow.

As starting point for their music the duo points at the AGET Heracles Cement Factory Plant in Volos, Magnesia. The factory is a metaphor that processes the land itself, ignites it in a cancerous way then dumps it into the sea and the atmosphere. It's a combination of all possible scenarios of optimism and negativity, the essence of trying to do the best for everyone, but accidentally killing everyone in the process. That contrasting duality is mirrored in Territroy. What ties them is a constant rhythmic element that is persistent and comes from growing up in Greece and absorbing the rhythmic specificities of Southern Europe and unique Mediterranean attitudes.

Rumbling beat, mindbending dub chord and atmospheric safari by one of the absolute veterans of the Icelandic techno scene. Q-Box was originally released in 1999 on the legendary Thule Records and has since then been one of the ultimate go-to dub techno track for DJs worldwide. Now, 22 years later, the release has been remastered – and to add a little sprinke to the cake we have worthy remixes from some of the mightiest of the current Reykjavik techno scene.

Repress

Embracing the underground culture with open arms when it matters most, the Dutchman arrives with his 'Goddess Of Vice EP'. Drifting through hardcore, tribal and acid, he aims to create a nostalgic getaway.

Hot on the heels of the Floorplan v Mark Broom double-header on EPM, Robert Hood is back in full minimal techno mode. 'Reflector / Rotate' administers the techno antidote to Hood's house alias as his no nonsense stripped down aesthetic gradually reveals layers and textures of tension and soul within his machine funk ethos.

'Reflector' picks up from the peak-time driving pulse as shown throughout his 'Paradigm Shift' project on Dekmantel giving plenty of big room punch just when needed. Euphoric synths and key changes add to Hood's usual minimal palate, adding a few goose bumps moments on the way.

'Rotate' pairs this back to basics as a solid beat gives way to muted keys and subtle atmospherics, throwing a deeper shadow across the dancefloor. Less is definitely more here.

With the third vinyl release BRVTAL turns to the east and puts together two favorite noisy-industrial techno artists that originate from Asia, Ryuji Takeuchi & Ospiel.

On hearing the first sound on side A, we already know there will be no joking, because the legendary Osaka-based producer and DJ, Ryuji Takeuchi delivered us two uncompromising, heavy raw and noisy tracks. He has a lot behind him, because his first connection with electronic music was in the early 90s. Since then he lived in the US, bought his turntables, gears, got in touch with Techno and other genres that we can catch in his musical legacy.

Don't worry, there will be no drift on the B side either, because the Brussels-based, but South Korean origin DJ and producer, Ospiel represents another two songs of his own characteristic techno sound. Both tracks influenced by his practice of electroacoustic music, he has developed a musical approach based on the exploration of sound matter. His productions present a narrative in which sound design creates a dark and cathartic soundscape. Industrial rhythms are confronted with manipulated textures and sounds, creating an energy specific to the artist.

Double LP documenting a realtime collaboration between Terrence Dixon (Metroplex/Tresor/Rush Hour) and Jordan GCZ (Off Minor/Minimal Detroit/Rush Hour). Finally the full results of these special sessions see the light of day (a ltd edition 12" of exclusive tracks owas released in 2020).

"In September 2019, Motor City techno legend Terrence Dixon made a rare trip to Europe. He was introduced to Jordan Czamanski AKA Jordan GCZ, a serial collaborator and electronic music improviser best known for his work as part of Juju & Jordash and, alongside David Moufang and Gal “Juju” Aner, as Magic Mountain High.

The pair hit it off immediately, so Czamanski powered up his studio and the pair began to jam. Over the following five days, the pair improvised extensively, stopping only periodically to drink coffee and discuss music, life and much more besides. While in the studio, they barely uttered a word to each other, instead responding almost psychically to the rhythms, grooves, riffs and musical motifs the other was spinning into the mix.

The results of these surprisingly magical 2019 studio sessions are showcased on Keep In Mind, I’m Out of My Mind, the pair’s first joint album and Dixon’s most significant musical collaboration since the Detroiter’s 2018 hook-up with German techno and ambient veteran Thomas Fehlmann.

In keeping with the project’s improvised roots, the six-track set is notable for its immediacy, pleasing looseness – it was mostly created using outboard equipment including synthesizers, drum machines and effects units – and sonic fluidity. It offers a neat, symmetrical blend of the two producers’ trademark styles, with Czamanski’s attractive chords, melodies and jazz-flecked motifs rising above hypnotic, cymbal-heavy rhythms that have long been the hallmark of Detroit’s sci-fi-fuelled techno sound.

This unique and appealing, dancefloor-focused sound ripples through album opener ‘Fretless’, an ultra-deep chunk of heady liquid techno, and the breathless bustle of ‘Operation Delete’, where bubbly synthesizer motifs, cascading ambient electronics and urgent bass cluster around a killer broken techno groove.

It’s there, too, throughout the surging, deliciously percussive ‘Space Chime’, an alien-sounding concoction that sounds like it was beamed down from some distant galaxy, the warming-but-intoxicating minor key swirl of ‘Axis Mundi’ – a two-part slab of techno psychedelia full of trippy electronics, dystopian jazz riffs and intergalactic intent – and the pitched-down, mind-altering oddness of closing cut ‘Above Ground’, when the pair goes all-out in pursuit of leftfield techno perfection.

Created from scratch in a few days by two of electronic music’s most accomplished improvisers, Keep In Mind, I’m Out of My Mind is an exemplary meeting of musical minds and sonic sensibilities."

As the year draws to a close TAU unveils its latest release, with German duo The Cheapers handling business this time around. On this two-tracker we also get a rework from highly respected producer Dave DK, best known for his releases on labels such as Pampa and Kompakt.
The EP starts off with the title track, ‘Poem’. Throbbing bass frequencies intertwine with a sonar-esque fm-bell to establish a serious, purposefulmood. A chilling, detuned vocal sings in Spanish intermittently as The Cheapers tease in a variety of unsettling effects. This unusual, yet stirringcut epitomises the TAU sound, emotive, deep, dark and moving.
Next up is ‘M10’, a stoney-faced rumbler with more strange atmospherics and eccentric production. This is the sound of two experienced producers enjoying themselves and flexing their musical muscles. Relatively simple in its architecture, ‘M10’ shifts and evolves steadily, the energy building in subtle waves keeping you engrossed from start to finish.
Dave DK steps up to remix ‘M10’, giving it more bounce and an assertive rhythm. The pace is quickened, though the morose mood remains.
Dave’s ability to cultivate solid dancefloor movers is clear here as he demonstrates his knowledge and experience with an uptempo reinterpretation.

After the first vinyl release in January 2019, Modvlar returns to printing discs and does it with an artist who needs no introduction. The MOD002 features Valentino Kanzyani as protagonist. The partnership between the Slovenian DJ / producer and Modvlar began a few years ago and his presence behind the console of the Italian-Swiss party / label has become a constant. To complete it all, there are 3 Original Mixes that perfectly define Valentino's style: dancefloor, dancefloor and even dancefloor. Dragosh, one of the ambassadors of the Modvlar house, concludes the ep, who with one of his super Reworks goes to extrapolate and transform one of Valentino's works into something more minimal.

Master by Yapacc Mastering Studio ( Berlin )

To celebrate its first anniversary Lempuyang firmly stakes its claim amongst the forefront of deep techno labels with an outrageous line-up consisting of eight of the most respected heads in the business, all doing their stuff across four pieces of vinyl. Among the highlights are the growling menace of Sa Pa's 'Randomer', Gradient's fizzy, dubbed up 'Dopamine Rain' wearing its Basic Channel influence on its sleeve, the ghostly rave stabs of Deadbeat's 'Planterwald' among a sea of radioactive white noise and the clear, sculpted linear grooves of 'Growing Pains' by Bluetrain. That said, there's no weak link among the eight cuts and put together into one coherent package it's more than the sum of its part.

Unearthed sees Blue Hour explore tribal rooted sounds inspired by British techno of the late 90's. The two tracks offer a darker outing, focusing on breakbeat sampling, textural processing and subtle repetition making these ideal rhythmic tools for peak time dance floor use.

Over the past few years, Luke Standing - the British producer behind the Blue Hour project, has been developing his self-titled imprint as a go-to outlet for high-energy, retro-futuristic dance floor Techno. Starting out as a home for the producer's own original work, it's since expanded in tandem with the British artist's career, to accommodate both a Remixed series (featuring remix-work from peers Answer Code Request, Steffi, Pangea & more), as well as a new, collaborative project, Tracing Xircles.
On BLUEHOURMUSIC010, Standing remains as sharp & focused as ever. Geared explicitly toward the dance floor, the British producer draws from his trademark palette, offering a brace of perfectly executed, hyper-functional dancefloor work outs. The artist's affinity with the formative energy of the genre is as palpable as ever - opener Beyond The Void launches immediately into peak time territory, marrying fearsome drum programming with low-sunk synth work - bringing a classic compositional structure up to date with razor-sharp production aesthetics. A2 Shimmer (Dreamscape) showcases the more introspective, heads-down side to Standing's work - a psychedelic, question-answer drum track that finds it's energy in powerful, low-end groove and a dynamic, shifting arrangement; a perfect example of Standing's ability not only to harness dance-floor energy - but also to build it. Working careful reference to past sonics in with more complex, contemporary sampling techniques -born out of years of experience as both a producer & a DJ, has seen Blue Hour develop an enviable discography in a comparatively short space of time. fter extending his reach and releasing music from new artists, Blue Hour returns to the label with his highly anticipated latest solo EP ‘Devotion’. The record is, as described by the artist ‘a personal homage to my early influences in dance music, frequently visited venues or events and shared experiences with close friends’. Written throughout the summer of 2019 while isolated in nature, Blue Hour identifies a common theme and sound palette to translate these ideas across 4 tracks that explore Leftfield, Techno/Trance, Hardcore, and Ambient with UK club culture at its core.

Ian Pooley returns to Radio Slave’s Rekids with Studio A Pt. 2 this February. The second entry in a three-part series of music based around his studio, Ian Pooley’s ‘Studio A Pt. 2’ for Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint sees the bonafide house legend deliver another choice selection of grooving
hardware productions.

Leading the A-side is the fluttering synths and warped vocal samples of ‘JV Organ & Matrix’, which twists and turns through delightful FX and rumbling bass. ‘Version 2’ of the track follows, contorting elements of the original into a heads-down groover, with washed-out processing and stereo wizardry meeting classic dub techniques.

On the flip, ‘Back Up’ keeps it live and direct with hard-hitting, chunky drums and menacing acid lines, with an additional stripped back digital ‘Beats Bass’ version included. Rounding out the 12” is 101202, a dreamy slice of razor-sharp house, with gorgeous, filtered pads drifting in tandem with strung out low end and skippy percussion.

Active since the early 90s, the German DJ/producer has released on the likes of Force Inc, V2 Records, and his own Pooledmusic, remixing for the likes of Deee-Lite, Carl Cox and many more, as well as being one of the few to be remixed by Daft Punk.

Arriving some five years after the original 12" created a dance-floor paradigm shift, Roy Of The Ravers returns to Emotinium with an EP of updated retakes, complete with the previously unheard original demo mix in all its twenty minute glory. Emotinium first appeared on the '2 Late 4 Love' cassette in 2015, and caused a storm as part of a 4 track EP with the same name a year later. The track was played as a festival opener by the likes of Bicep and in Sameheads' Berlin basement parties - becoming a must-have that continues as today's second-hand prices testify.

A sense that the dreamy electro meets 303 melodics of the original could be brought up to (breaks) speed held in Roy's mind since creation, so Rave '22 is presented for hearts, minds and feet as we step(pers) out into an updated world. Cut, looped, and reformed, a braindance for millenniums.

This is accompanied by an Ambient Dub for the afters. Highlighting the TB-303's finest again, Roy's garden of dreams flies high, as artificial intelligence finally becomes reality. To close, the long-form Demo awaits. One for completists maybe but in letting the full 20 minutes play you can be drawn in or let go and drift as Tadao Kikumoto's masterwork is presented with respect. Arigato!

Toni's tracks givin' the label a fresh touch by his ghetto house and electro roots while keeping it raw n dirty like it should. this is the first time, another artists released on this label. fa006 will follow with remixes of jonas kopp and hector oaks!

Back in the early '90s, whenever the pirate radio MC announced "a pause for the cause", I usually pressed pause on my cassette recorder. That's something I would regret years later, when ad breaks had become cherished mementos of the hardcore rave era. Luckily, back in the day I often left the tape running while I went off to do something else. So a fair number of ad breaks got captured accidentally for my later delectation. Not nearly enough, though. So in recent years I started combing through the immense number of pirate radio sets archived on the internet. Sometimes the tracklists would note "ad break" or "ads", helping to narrow the search. But often I'd just stumble on a bunch in the middle of a pirate show preserved on YouTube or an oldskool blog. A few of my original unintended "saves" and latterday "finds" are included in this wonderful collection by audio archaeologist Luke Owen. It's the latest in his series of compilations of UK pirate radio advertisements, with this volume focusing on the audio equivalent of the rave flyer: MCs breathlessly hyping a club night or upcoming rave, listing the lineup of deejays and MCs, boasting about hi-tech attractions like lasers and projections, mentioning prices and nearest landmarks to the venue, and occasionally promising "clean toilets" and "tight but polite security" ("sensible security" is another variation). Some of these ads are etched into my brain as lividly as the classic hardcore and jungle tunes of that time. (Most rave ads incorporate snippets of current music, of course – big anthems and obscure "mystery tracks" alike). Names of deejays ring out like mythological figures: who were Shaggy & Breeze, Kieran the Herbalist, Tinrib, Food Junkie? Putting on my serious hat for a moment, I think these ads are valuable deposits of sociocultural data, capturing the hustling energy of an underground micro-economy in which promoters, deejays and MCs competed for a larger slice of the dancing audience. But mostly, they are hard hits of pure nostalgic pleasure, amusing and thrilling through their blend of period charm, endearing amateurism, and contagiously manic excitement about rave music's forward-surge into an unknown future. The best of these ads give me a memory-rush to rival the top tunes and MC routines of the era.

Pavel Milyakov is an artist from Moscow whose sonic explorations have, alongside his peers, helped form a new frontier in the vast realm of Russian electronica. Under his most familiar alias of Buttechno, his eccentric productions form a continual study into the extremes of rhythm-based music and spatial manipulation. badtrip is a complex meeting of the comic and the deranged. Against a droll backdrop of desolate cities and imposing high rises, his productions sit (un)comfortably at the intersection of overarching paranoia and delirious joy. Moulding grotesque distortions into lively rhythmic frameworks, he invites us to a world that is often disturbed, always fun. Drawing heavily on improvisation, as well as his multimedia background, each track is an unpredictable spiral of altered senses. After a highly acclaimed appearance on the latest trip concept album, as well as an ever-growing catalogue of his own releases, badtrip is an essential package from one of the scene's most peculiar talents.

Mote Evolver kicks off 2014 with Future Modular EP from Luke Slater's Planetary Assault Systems alias, presenting sharp-as-ever fresh sound of P.A.S. that has enticed the audience as long as the mighty 'Systems' have existed. Never a stranger to a forward thinking sound aesthetic and with a title like 'Future Modular', P.A.S. packs the EP with 3 tracks that spark with Futurism and tightly channel the energy at the tip of the boiling point.

The title track sets the tone of the EP - positively powerful and playful - with its groovy bass drum and acid infusing an ample dose of funky rhythmic variations. But it wouldn't be P.A.S. without the thrilling tension that locks you in, "Riot in Silo 12" on the B-side slips into the darker side, keeping the hats just below the surface and layer by layer uncovering the electrifying suspense throughout the track. "Serc" pops open with the bursting energy of kick drum then takes you to the uncharted realms of cold minimalistic drops reminiscent of early Sähkö purism, and masterfully brings a variety of moving elements and textures into dynamic captivating techno.

Future Modular is yet another top form techno EP full of ideas and dimensions from P.A.S., a superb successor to the previous constantly floor-stirring No Exit EP to offer kinetic prowess that never diminishes.
