Italy's INTODARKNESS have been a work in progress since their formation in 2011. Led by vocalist / guitarist Doomed Warrior from the very beginning, the band released a handful of demos, a couple splits, and a couple EPs during their first decade of existence. While all short-lengths, they certainly did not lack in quality. As time (and lineups) went on, INTO DARKNESS’ primary influences – equally early Asphyx and Soulburn, Pentacle, Sinister, Gorefest, Dead Head, Phlebotomized, Acrostichon, and Thanatos among others – came more sharply into focus, aligning reverently within old-school Dutch death metal in style but with a unique lyrical focus: divulgative astronomy. Not astrology, not sci-fi, no Lovecraft – only and specifically divulgative astronomy, maybe poetically but definitely realistically. Now, at long last, INTO DARKNESS are prepared to unleash their debut album. Tellingly titled Route to the Outer Side, the Italians’ first full-length is a concept record about the outer solar system, which still considers Pluto as a planet and also includes Halley’s Comet.

SHDW's label Mutual Rytm rounds out another year with 'Symbiosis' - an excellent split EP from Greek artists ANNE & Sera J, featuring six fresh cuts and four digital bonuses.

The release title comes from the Greek word 'Symbiosis', which means living closely together for a significant period and can be used to speak of a mutually beneficial interaction between individuals. And that is precisely what can be said of ANNE and Sera J, who have grown through life as partners and, more recently, as musical peers. This split EP is their first release alongside one another, and one that presents the story of their innermost feelings, with their full label debut following fine contributions to the label's 'Federation Of Rytm II' compilation back in March.

ANNE has had a busy few years making her mark with potent techno on labels such as Soma, Hardgroove, and Life In Patterns, while Sera J is just as revered for his tunes on the likes of Out Of Place, DifferentSound and more.

ANNE takes the A-side, firstly with the fiery diva vocals and thumping techno drums of 'Heal My Soul' and then the more physical and banging drum programming of 'Turn Back Time'. It's a big, metallic cut with rumbling bass and sleek synths peeling off the groove, while her final track 'Zephyrus' has plenty of infectious bounce and eerie pads to keep dancers on their toes.

On the flip, Sera J kicks off with the electrifying synth stabs and cantering techno power of 'Blue Dancers' and then offers up 'Common People' as twisted leads and slamming drums all run through with alien sound effects and bright stabs. To close, 'Delusion' is a psychedelic cut with roaming leads that bring plenty of cosmic energy to the unrelenting kicks.

In addition, each artist serves up a pair of digital bonuses: ANNE with the hurried funk of 'Serene' and loopy intensity of 'Victor', and Sera J with the liquid, dubby dynamics of the hard-hitting 'Intensity' and monstrous energy of 'Bodies Don't Lie.'

Klanglich zeichnen sich viele der Songs durch ambientartige Klangflüsse aus, die parallel zu den Stimm- und Gitarrenflüssen der vermischten Instrumente verlaufen; sich wiederholende Klavier- und Gitarrenmelodien spielen miteinander, Bläsersätze schwellen an und eben ab, es gibt sogar ein Flügelhorn, das sich an die Ränder des Jazz schmiegt. Sella bleibt da draußen und sucht nach neuen Strömungen und Buchten in diesem Klangfluss, der Hai auf der Jagd, mit einem Teufel, der seine Flosse umklammert. A restless soul with a wide-open heart, Johnny Delaware was born in South Dakota, but he spent his 20s on the road, drifting between Nashville, Albuquerque, and Austin before landing in Charleston, SC, where he recorded his 2013 debut, Secret Wave. The album earned glowing reviews, with the Charleston City Paper declaring Delaware their Songwriter of the Year, but before he could record a follow-up, another local project he helped co-found, Susto, began taking off. Over the course of the next decade, the band would become one of the most critically acclaimed names in indie roots music, garnering raves from Rolling Stone and Spin and touring with the likes of The Lumineers, Band of Horses, and The Head and the Heart. In 2022, Delaware finally released his sophomore effort, Energy of Light, which he recorded after moving to Mexico City, and two years later, he followed it up with Para Llevar, which Glide Magazine hailed as “a swirl of indie rock, Americana and psychedelic folk.”

On his newest collection, On God’s Time, Delaware returns to the sounds he grew up on in South Dakota, crafting a lush, cinematic meditation on mortality and meaning that’s firmly rooted in the spiritual realm of the cosmic drifter. Produced by Delaware, the album reckons with death as a means of appreciating life, exploring love and loss and gratitude and regret through the eyes of a host of larger-than-life characters all navigating their way through a world of tragic beauty and infinite wonder.

Channeling his trademark style of driving techno and robotic rhythms, Phase Fatale makes his Dekmantel UFO series debut, upping the ante with his forward cutting production methods. His first solo release in 2 years, the Berlin-based DJ, Producer and Label owner hotwires his signature wall of sound with precise, hypnotic magnetism and dystopian textures.

A key protagonist in Techno’s lexicon as a regular in the booth at ∄ in Kyiv and with residencies at queer collective Merge in New York, alongside institutions Berghain and Khidi. The New York native’s unflinching mutualism of past and present comes forward in his introspective production style of textural waves and melancholic narrative, welded together by true techno formation. A deep referential lens cutting through layers of whirling cybernetics form his sonic coil, surrendering the listener into dissociative euphoria.

Underpinned by a focus on bass heavy techno, the 4-track EP circulates an ebb and flow of surrealist, atmospherics and whirring futuristic frequencies. Hypnosis inducing polyrhythmic analog sequences, flesh-out the EP’s core whilst the track progression traverses over a terrain of experimental cuts, driving beats, and oscillating sonic shrapnel. A culmination of influences spanning techno born out of Birmingham and Detroit alike form an architecture of stripped back electronics alongside soulful melodies, as well as references to acid house, post-punk and shoegaze. The title track ‘Off Desire’ a nod to longtime friend and collaborator the late Silent Servant, evokes a dream like crescendo between David Lynch and the sci-fi body tech of David Cronenberg, electric stabbing beats are offset by wistful guitar riffs and the digital rain of ethereal distorted vocals as if echoes from the void.

Following the solid showing of global love and support for the collective Point Winona Sound Library Vol 1, LA’s Elbow Grease label runs it back with a sultry summer scene LP entry from one of the compilation’s most promising new talents.

“Urm the Mad” was Protector’s sophomore album, recorded in the summer of 1989 at the Phönix Studio in Bochum, where the four-piece from Wolfsburg had already recorded their killer full-length debut “Golem”. Urm the Mad” was to become the last album before the split in 2003 that features Martin Missy; he should be replaced by Olly Wiebel in December 1989. Protector did not change too much about their style – genre-defining early thrash/death – but one of the most notable things about “Urm the Mad” was the sound: The album is famous for its heavy, noisy, dirty sound, for its raw production that makes the music all the more evil and menacing, with guitars in the front and Martin’s unmistakeable vocals lying on the riffs like poisonous mould. “Urm the Mad” is thrash metal walking the path of death. Protector’s special blend of thrash and death metal has always set them apart from their compatriots and even inspired German metal tabloid Rock Hard to declare Protector to be “Germany’s hardest band” – and this in 1989, the year both Kreator’s “Extreme Aggression” and Sodom’s “Agent Orange” were released! Protector, too, play fast and energetic thrash, but the overall feel of the album is that of creeping, lurking evil – crawling along on frequently slowed down, heavy riffs and Martin Missy’s sick death-like growls which seem to come straight from the charnel house. “Urm the Mad” does not sport that “positive” aggression usually found in 80’s thrash; on the contrary, the album is grim, dark and desperate, but nonetheless brutal and extreme. Back in the days, Protector’s contribution to the then-proliferating Teutonic thrash was mainly recognized within the underground scene, and the metal press played its own part in keeping Protector a bit below the radar: “We got pretty much the same response as we got for ‘Golem’: Good, positive feedback from our fans and ‘ok’-reviews from the bigger metal magazines.” Time to make up for that.

With Fuck, Marry, Kill, Tink delivers her most provocative and conceptually sharp body of work to date, firmly reclaiming her position as a premier storyteller in the modern R&B landscape. Der von der Kritik gefeierte Fotograf und in Paris lebende, aus Algerien stammende Künstler Mohamed Bourouissa hegt seit langem ein tiefes, alles umfassendes Interesse an Klängen. ,LILA" ist sein Solo-Debüt, ein selbst bezeichnetes ,musikalisches Objekt", das die wichtigen Beziehungen in seinem Leben auflistet; jeder der Tracks des Albums ist einer Person gewidmet (und nach ihr benannt), an die er dachte, als er das Album komponierte. Mit Gastauftritten von französisch-senegalesischen Künstlers Le Diouck und der italienischen Avantgarde-Künstlerin Valentina Fanigliulo (alias Mushy und Phantom Love) wirkt das Album wie ein Tagebuch hypnagogischer Reflexionen, das mit schwerelosen Synthesizern, herzzerreißendem Auto-Tune-Gesang und dissoziierten Beat-Sequenzen ein Bild von Bourouissas innerer Realität zeichnet. Emotional aufgeladen und verwurzelt in der Ästhetik, die Bourouissa mit seiner Verbundenheit zu Klang, Menschen und Kunst verbindet, ist es so komplex und vielschichtig wie jede seiner gefeierten Installationen oder Ausstellungen. Bourouissas erste erkennbare klangliche Referenz war ,Temps Morts" aus dem Jahr 2009, eine bewegende Videoarbeit, die er nach dem legendären Debütalbum des französischen Rappers Booba benannte, und seitdem ist er seiner Intuition gefolgt und hat nach und nach herausgefunden, wie er Klang nicht nur in seine Werke integrieren, sondern ihn in den Mittelpunkt stellen kann. 2017 arbeitete er gemeinsam mit dem libanesischen Free-Improv-Gitarristen Sharif Sehnaoui und Sina Araghi (alias Sina XX) an ,Si Di Kubi", einer Compilation, die experimentelle Klänge aus der arabischen Welt in den Vordergrund stellte, und sein Weg wurde klar. ,In diesem Moment wurde der Klang zu einem integralen Bestandteil meiner künstlerischen Praxis", erklärt er. Bourouissa arbeitete 2021 mit dem französischen Sounddesigner und Programmierer Jordan Quiqueret zusammen, um herauszufinden, wie sich die von der Akazie erzeugten Frequenzen in Rhythmen auf ,Brutal Family Roots` umsetzen lassen, wobei er Gedichte des Waddi-Waddi-Rappers MC Kronic und des ägyptisch-australischen MC Nardean integrierte. Später arbeitete er mit Fanigliulo an ,Haral!" - einem Duo-Projekt, das dem Künstler endlich das Selbstvertrauen gab, seine Fähigkeiten anzunehmen und seinen eigenen Produktionen Vorrang einzuräumen. Sogar seine jüngste Ausstellung ,SIGNAL" im Palais de Tokyo, Bourouissas erste Retrospektive, wurde ähnlich wie ein Album zusammengestellt, wobei der Künstler besonderen Wert auf die musikalische Logik ihrer Struktur und die ihr innewohnenden Rhythmen legte. ,Ich sehe Klang als Träger von Geschichte und Erinnerung, manchmal traumatisch", sagt er. ,Die Arbeit mit Frequenzen, Geräuschen und Atemzügen eröffnet einen Raum für Heilung, eine kathartische Möglichkeit. ,Und genau diese Philosophie leitet ,LILA`, von den hallenden Klavierakkorden und Chor-Echos von ,INTRO` bis hin zu den mikrotonalen Summtönen und verschleierten Rhythmen, die sich spiralförmig um das kurze, bewegende ,OUTRO` winden. Es ist ein Album, das sich schwer einordnen lässt; es gibt Spuren von Pop in ,HFC", einer beatlosen Suite aus modularen Schluckaufgeräuschen und biomechanischen Schreien, die in Richtung Kakophonie übergeht, und Überreste von Clubmusik, die an den Fenstern und Wänden des schweißtreibenden ,MG" zurückbleiben, in den zitternden Trommelwirbeln und Le Dioucks schrillen Ausrufen. Der rote Faden, der sich durch das Ganze zieht, ist die Tatsache, dass Bourouissa in der Lage ist, eher ein Gefühl als einen Klang darzustellen. Mit einer Palette, die er im Laufe des letzten Jahrzehnts stetig verfeinert hat, bewegt er sich schimmernd durch eine persönliche Landschaft, die sich in ein lebendiges, atmendes klangliches Ökosystem verwandelt. Auf ,AF" schweben gespenstische FM-Arpeggios unheimlich um seine lässigen, herzlichen Worte, und auf dem beunruhigenden ,SEUM" kontern mehrschichtige Synth-Drones sein verzerrtes Crooning mit elektrisierenden xenharmonischen Akkorden. Instrumentale Dunstwolken schweben durch angespannte rhythmische Ausbrüche auf ,MN", und als Fanigliulo auf dem Titeltrack auftaucht, rückt das Album in den Fokus, während warme, hoffnungsvolle Pads einige von Bourouissas eindringlichster Texte. "What did you say, why should I cry", wiederholt er in die Leere hinein und presst die Worte durch metallische Verzerrung und ungleichmäßige Beats. Es ist Musik, die so greifbar ist, dass man sie fast berühren kann.

By the time Mayday Parade began work on Sugar, the closing installment of their three-part album series, they had pushed themselves further than ever before.Following Sweet (April 2025) and Sad (October 2025), the pop-rock quintet committed to a relentless cycle—write, record, tour, repeat—building a body of work that captures the full scope of their sound across nearly 30 songs.

The night before Ella Fitzgerald walked into Konserthuset in Stockholm and recorded what became The Stockholm Concert,1966, the Pablo Records live album now considered among the essential documents of her late career, she played two concerts at Falkoner Theatre in Copenhagen. Colemine Records is proud to present a brand new 45 from Aaron Frazer featuring two tracks from his debut LP. The funky and drum heavy "Bad News" has a timely message at a time when people willfully ignore the warnings about everything from climate change to systematic racism. Frazer recorded the tune in Nashville and he brought together a bevy of talented musicians, including members of The Memphis Boys, who backed Dusty Springfield on "Son of a Preacher Man" and Aretha Franklin on "Natural Woman." On the flip, "Done Lyin'" shows Aaron's vulnerability throughout the song. Heavy and tough production from Dan Auerbach paired with Frazer smoothly singing his heart out is a match made in sweet soul heaven.

Chicken Shack are a British blues rock band founded in 1965 by Stan Webb, Andy Silvester, and Alan Morley, who were later joined by Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie, then still known as Christine Perfect. She would leave the band somewhere in 1969 to join Fleetwood Mac, and was replaced by Paul Raymond of UFO and Michael Schenker Group fame. They signed to the legendary British blues label Blue Horizon in 1967.

100 Ton Chicken is the band's third studio album from 1969 and offers a nice balance of blues standards and originals penned by the band's only constant member Stan Webb, who is still active to this day. It features the single "Tears In The Wind" and a cover of Davey Graham’s folk masterpiece "Anji".
