On his album Songs from Okinawa, Sven Kacirek explores the traces of a unique traditional music from the famed Pacific islands south of Japan. He recorded a wide range of local musicians - both amateurs and well-known figures - and carefully wove in his own instrumentation: marimba, xylophone, and piano. The result is an album of timeless beauty and quiet elegance. The southern Japanese archipelago of Okinawa has a complex and turbulent history, particularly shaped by the conflicts between Japan and the United States - an aspect thoughtfully outlined in the liner notes by Mina Mermoud. Over the centuries, this layered past has given rise to a rich and distinctive musical culture. During the U.S. military occupation of the islands, Okinawan musicians began blending traditional forms with Western styles. Today, Okinawan music is recognised in Japan as a genre of its own. "I"m fascinated by the sublime simplicity and precision of Okinawan music - from its orchestration to the phrasing of the singing voice," says Kacirek. True to this admiration, he keeps many of the original vocal and instrumental recordings intact, gently adding his marimba or percussion without ever pushing himself into the spotlight.

This next release on Konstruktiv is the super special vinyl version of the 'Vremya Versions' EP and it contains two Rolando and two Unbalance remixes.

There have been many different ways in describing the personal stories behind the protagonists of the electronical music scene in the 90ies. It´s in the nature of things that especially producers, whose place of work is the studio, remained rather in the background.
One of them is Ralf Hildenbeutel. He was the producer of Sven Väth´s most important releases such as "L'Esperanza" or "Fusion" and an essential creative part of the Eye Q label in the 90ies. His "Earth Nation" project was the first live act from that genre who was taking a drummer on the live stage, playing on international festivals and stages including the "Montreux Jazz Festival". The vita continues. While many other musicians kept on working on techno, Hildenbeutel composed for artists such as Laith Al-Deen or Phil´s son Simon Collins and wrote filmmusic for movies such as "Hommage á Noir" which won the Goldmedal for music on the New York Filmfestivals. The film adaption of Martion Suter's "Der Koch", "Ausgerechnet Sibirien", TV thriller such as "Kommissarin Lucas" or even the series of "Verbotene Liebe" have been scored by Ralf Hildenbeutel. His filmmusic for the international multi-awarded shortmovie "Momentum" was nominated at the Newport International Filmfestival. On "Moods" Hildenbeutel finds more back to electronical music. Fans of artists such as Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm or Jon Hopkins will enjoy this longplayer. Hildenbeutel mixes complex string-arrangements and piano pieces with clicks & cuts and invents his own coherent language which allows both directions to live in harmony. Elegiac compositions and vivacious, percussive breakouts as in "Spark" (for which an video by award-winning filmmaker Boris Seewald will be made) meet on this album.
An album which grows and gains depth with each hearing.

Drum Island unveil their tenth release with an extraordinary EP from Norway's Klaus Lunde.

From Norway's oldest city Tonsberg comes the stargazing sounds of Klaus Lunde: an acclaimed and prolific electronic music composer, his array of releases under the Xerxes Music pseudonym explore a unique take on ambience and tonal electronica that's a mesmerising and accomplished body of work to be sure.

This, undoubtedly many people's first introduction to his work, is a perfectly pitched collection that highlights the familiar themes of the Xerxes work, but fits easily into the Drum Island blueprint of music for the midnight sun. On the Exerxes EP, we're treated to pulsating Balearic trance and zero gravity house before gliding into relaxed ambience, soothing New Age and horizontal night music.
We then dive further into the psychedelic ocean hidden below with truly tripped out Kosmiche vignettes of warping and spine-tingling odd-pop.

hile it may seem as though it's been a quiet year in the studio for Brooklyn-based DJ/Producer Greg Schappert (aka Donor), his first full-length album entitled Against All on Chicago-based Prosthetic Pressings, will prove otherwise.

This 10-track release is a tour de force of formidable intensity and suspense and Donor wastes no time creating an ethereal realm right from the start. By taking a deep dive into a dystopian world full of distant transmission like voices, expressed through field recordings taken in and around New York City, Donor successfully paints a picture of what could be his unsettling vision of the future. While it may be difficult to explain how this album progresses throughout, there is something below the surface tying everything together, leaving us with a feeling of despair in that the world does not end how it is likely to be perceived through this beautiful or haunting, yet sophisticated, soundtrack. Alien invasions, civil war, post apocalyptic mayhem, call it what you will, Donor sets the stage for an unsettling vision of the not so distant future that can be heard in his thought provoking debut LP.

Donor's time spent overseas living in countries like Spain and Japan, his love for Birmingham Industrial Techno and early Dutch and Detroit Electro, combined with his upbringing on John Carpenter films, have all contributed to Donor creating his unique, yet recognizable sound.

m 17. März ist es soweit: Nach ihrem Debüt-Album, dem Chartstürmer Megalitic Symphony, stellen AWOLNATION ihr mit Spannung erwartetes neues Studioalbum mit dem Titel Run (Red Bull Records) vor. RUN wurde vom musikalischen Architekten Aaron Bruno verfasst, gespielt und produziert und im hügeligen Hinterland von Malibu in Kalifornien aufgenommen. Das neue Album ist der Höhepunkt von Brunos Erfahrungen nach dem Durchbuch ihres Debüt-Albums Megalithic Symphony. Das Endergebnis ist ein feinst abgestimmtes musikalisches Meisterwerk, das sich manchmal - und urplötzlich - expansiv atmosphärisch, übermutig, ernst und verfeinert gibt und von Momenten des typischen aggressiven Unbehagen punktiert ist. "Auf dieser Platte ist jede einzelne Sekunde sorgfältig zugeordnet", erläutert Bruno. "Jedes einzelne Element dient einem Zweck".
Neben der ersten Single "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)" fallen besonders das cineastische "Jailbreak", die erhebende Hymne "I Am", der Titelsong "Run", das euphorische "Windows", das schmerzlich verwundbare "Headrest for My Soal" und die atomare Rebellion von "KOOKSEVERYWHERE!!!!" auf.

'Decadubs 5' is a vinyl-only double-pack companion to 'Hyperdub 10.4', the fourth and final CD in Hyperdub's series of collections throughout 2014 to mark the label's first decade in existence. Both 'Decadubs 5' and its full-length parental set explore the club spaces opened up by house, garage and techno, as viewed through Hyperdub's singular filters. Side 1 leads out with 'Lambeth', a long awaited previously unreleased track by Burial, with an unusually triumphant and - compared to recent extended montages - relatively direct 2step feel. This is followed by the low slung tech-garage of Kode9's 'Oh', while on the flip the whole of Side 2 is given over to the lush deep house of Cooly G's 'Love Again'. Side 3 opens with the fathoms-deep bubbling bass and synth washes of DVA's extremely psychedelic 'Monophonic Nightmare', then Dorian Concept turns in a quirky remix of Martyn's classic 'Mega Drive Generation', which originally appeared on Hyperdub's fifth anniversary compilation in 2009. Side 4 reveals another classic from the vaults in the shape of Cooly G's skeletal house cut 'Him Da Biz', and the EP comes to a close with energy levels turned up on Funkystepz's 'Vice Versa', a track much in demand since it first appeared on Kode9's 'Rinse 22' mix compilation from 2013.

Gut zwei Jahrzehnte sind vergangen, seit Mary J. Blige mit ihrem Debütalbum die R&B- und Popwelt revolutioniert hat, und noch immer schlägt die Erfinderin des Hiphop-Soul aus New York mit jedem Album neue Wege ein und erfindet sich neu: Für ihr kommendes Studioalbum The London Sessions ist die Königin des R&B wochenlang ins Reich der Queen eingetaucht und präsentiert nun ihre ausgelassenen Session-Recordings mit UK-Senkrechtstartern wie Sam Smith, Disclosure, Naughty Boy und Emeli Sandé.
Auslöser für ihren verlängerten Aufenthalt in London waren gleich zwei inspirierende Kollaborationen: Zunächst veredelte Mary mit ihrem Feature-Auftritt bei - F For You' den Track des jungen UK-Duos Disclosure, und wenig später stand sie auch noch für einen Remix des Rekord-Hits - Stay With Me' mit Sam Smith im Studio. Da sie von der Energie und der musikalischen Vielfalt, die in der britischen Metropole auf sie wartete, regelrecht umgehauen war, fasste die neunfache Grammy-Gewinnerin kurzerhand den Entschluss, für einen ganzen Monat in diese Szene einzutauchen und ihr neues Album in den legendären RAK Studios aufzunehmen...
- Ich wollte mich hier nicht nur wie ein Gast, sondern wirklich heimisch fühlen für diese Zeit', so Blige über die Arbeit an The London Sessions, zu der sie neben Disclosure und Sam Smith auch Emeli Sandé, Naughty Boy, Jimmy Napes, Eg White und Sam Romans als Gäste begrüßen konnte, wobei der Produzent Rodney Jerkins als Executive Producer hinter den Reglern stand. Jepe was one half of John Waynes who already release on Brique Rouge and is now one of the most respected producer from Portugal, Actually living in Berlin, he has released on Get Physical, Blossom Kollektiv or MuleMuziq, Jepe's tracks have a very high level of quality, True House Music,

And last but not least, our good friend from Switzerland, mr Salvatore Freda, With the machine-driven futurism of Detroit in his step, and the bounce of Chicago in his shadow, Salvatore Freda is a pure vinyl DJ from Lausanne, Switzerland. With a production career that began in 1997, Freda has built up an impressive discography over the years. His music has touched some of techno and house's most respected labels including Trapez, Music Man Records, Liebe Detail, Freerange, Area Remote, Push Communications, Dessous, Nightvision, and Cadenza.

In Musik und Text verschmelzen über alle 11 Titel hindurch Stimmungen, Eindrücke der Sub-Sahara Konzert-Tour von B.Friedmann 2013 und Fetzen von Erinnerungen an eine imaginierte Zukunft. Sie reagieren auf reale "Kpafuca" - "things falling apart" - Zustände afrikanischer Metropolen und kollabieren zu Grooves und Phrasen, die an Chris Marker´s Science-Fiction-Apokalyptik ( "La Jette"/ "Sans Soleil" ) erinnern. In dieser Polyphonie der Un-Orte schwingt auch der Geist reisender Klangabenteurer, zB. der musikethnologischen Praktiker Hartmut Geerken und Roman Bunka (Embryo), deren Visionen und Musik-Wirken sich gegen reduktionistische, essentialistische Inszenierungen sträubt. Gegen jene kulturellen Landkarten, die in die Musik immer wieder zwanghaft hineingezeichnet werden, setzt Friedman auf "Cease To Matter" im intuitiven Modus die befreiende Kraft des Rauschens, der Über-Mensch-Maschinen-Musik, der krummen Beats und des technischen Zufalls-Defekts, kurz: das "Un-gehör-sam" (Johannes Ismaiel-Wendt) gegenüber der normativen Deutungshoheit musikalischer Weltkarten.

Die Stimme des aus Texas stammenden in Berlin lebenden Performers und Vokalisten Daniel Dodd-Ellis wirkte bereits 2007 auf Burnt Friedman´s Album "First Night Forever" (non22). Die Lyrics stammen von beiden Autoren und wurden von Friedmann während der Produktionsvorgänge 2013 bis 2014 mehrfach zerlegt und neu zusammengesetzt. Die Zeile "Sky Is Blue Inside Of You" ist dem 1932 erschienenen Roman "Brave New World" von Aldous Huxley entnommen. Tracks 04 und 09 ("Cease To Matter") enthalten ein Piano Sample Edit basierend auf einer Komposition von Georges Invanovich Gurdjieff (1872-1949).

Mit VERMONT - THE PRINS THOMAS VERSIONS betritt nun ein weiterer, hochverehrter Held zeitgenössischer Tanzflure die Bühne: der norwegische Disco-Connaisseur und Bootleg-Experte PRINS THOMAS taucht mit drei brillianten Neubearbeitungen tief in die VERMONT'schen Klangwelten hinab und betont die rhythmischen Elemente der originalen Album-Tracks DYNAMIK, ELEKTRON und MACCHINA - ohne jedoch deren zurückgelehnten Grundgestus zu verraten. Er tut dies unter Zuhilfenahme von luftiger angelegten Varianten klassischer Tanzmusik-Stile - Techno, House, sogar eine Prise Dub Reggae - und lässt diese die Hauptbeinarbeit versehen. May 3th 2000, a rare conjunction of 7 celestial bodies (Sun, Moon, planets Mercury-Saturn) occurs during the New Moon, few weeks after that in his room on the 10th floor of a new belgrade skyscraper nenad made his first steps into the wild blue yonder. December 27th, 2005 - Astrophysicists from the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching near Munich measure the strongest burst from a magnetar. At 21:30:26 UT the earth is hit by a huge wave front of gamma and X-rays. It is the strongest flux of high-energetic gamma radiation measured so far. September 23th 2008, in the Akihabara area of Tokyo, Japan, a 25-year-old man stabs seven to death and wounds 10, before being arrested, that night nenad adopted his pseudonym 33. 10. 3402 (33th of october threethousandfourhounded and two) Jun 11th 2009, a Texas mother was hit by lightning while standing in her kitchen inside her Texas home. Witnesses say the lightning came through a light fixture and struck her chest and exited her foot. Her 9-year-old son franticly called 9-1-1 to save her life. She had to spend three days in the hospital. Few months later nenad performed for the first time under the name 33 10 3402 along with Dj Brka in 'The Wash' club. From that time on, nenad had numerous gigs in prominent Belgrade clubs. Dec 8th 2010, with the second launch of the SpaceX Dragon, SpaceX becomes the first privately held company to successfully launch, orbit and recover a spacecraft. The same year nenad become resident in famous balgrade club '20/44'. Nenad is not responsible for many of these events, nonetheless,he is constantly on the move.
