Born in march 2000, ANGELUS APATRIDA became in few years one of the most important Spanish thrash metal bands. Many demos and band members passed through the history of ANGELUS APATRIDA but it was in January 2003 that the band decided to write pounding thrash metal , mostly influenced by like Pantera, Megadeth, Overkill, Anthrax or Annihilator. ANGELUS APATRIDA released their 7th, self-titled album in 2021 and conquered the top of the official album charts in Spain (#1) and it also marked the band’s first ever chart entries in Germany (#49) and Switzerland (#41) . The band ’s classic album’ Clockwork’ , ’The Call’ and ‘ Hidden Revolution’ have been much sought after in vinyl format and reached ridiculously high prices online. SPIRIT ADRIFT-Mastermind Nate Garrett kommentiert: 'Ich dachte immer, es wäre eine coole Erfahrung, einige Songs von Bands aufzunehmen, die die DNA von SPIRIT ADRIFT begründen. Diese Auswahl ist für mich offensichtlich und naheliegend, aber für die Fans vielleicht unerwartet. Das hat die ganze Sache zu einem Riesenspaß gemacht. Musical contrasts, which are no novelty with PARASITE INC., because after all, the Swabians surprise since the beginning of their career again and again with their somewhat different interpretation of the Melodic Death Metal genre.
During the pandemic, ten songs were created in the band's own studio under the title "Cyan Night Dreams", which show a consistent musical development towards an even more independent sound garb. The result is a varied album, which comes along harder and more aggressive than the predecessor, but at the same time brings the melodic facets of the band even more to the fore.

Golden Core haben mit Cutty Sark, Saints´ Anger, Witchfynde, Wildfire
und Dark Wizard bereits acht Klassiker vom kultigen Mausoleum Label mit Erfolg und vielen guten Kritiken wiederveröffentlicht. Eigentlich wäre die Serie hier abgeschlossen gewesen, wenn die belgische Band SCAVENGER nicht den ausdrücklichen Wunsch geäußert hätte, dass Golden Core auch ihr Album, „Battlefields“ aus dem Jahr 1985, den Fans auf die gleiche Weise neu zugänglich zu machen. Der neue Inhaber des Mausoleum Kataloges stimmte zu und der Sache stand nichts mehr im Wege. Scavenger sind wieder aktiv, allerdings seit Februar 2020 ohne Originalmitglied. Dafür wurde die junge und sehr starke neue Besetzung um Sängerin Tine Callebaut von den „Alten“ regelrecht ausgebildet. Eine erste Single sorgte bereits für Begeisterung und ein neues Album ist auf dem Weg. Um den Bogen zu den alten Tagen zu spannen, arbeiteten Scavenger an der Wiederveröffentlichung von „Battlefields“, dem einzigen
Album der Urbesetzung, tatkräftig mit. So spendierte man das Demo aus dem Jahr 1982, welches noch unter dem Namen Deep Throat erschienen ist und heute natürlich extrem rar ist. Eine Tape-Kopie zweiter Generation wurde hierfür von Neudi (Golden Core Rec., Manilla Road, Trance, etc.) so gut es ging aufgearbeitet und zeigt eine Gruppe, die 1982 noch tief im 70s Hardrock verwurzelt war. Weiterhin findet man diverse Livetracks, die klanglich wirklich nur „for fans only“ sind, aber den Zeitgeist als CD-Bonus dennoch perfekt wiedergeben. Die LP-Version enthält aus klangtechnischen
Gründen nur das Album „Battlefields“. Für beide Formate wurde nicht die Mausoleum-Classix CD genommen, sondern eine neue Vinyl-Überspielung von Patrick W. Engel in Auftrag gegeben, die anschließend von Neudi remastert wurde. Für die LP fertigte
Vadim Kulin (ZYX Studio) ein gesondertes Vinylmaster an. Das Booklet und LP-Inlay enthält viele rare Fotos, Liner Notes (exklusives Interview mit der Band), Memorabilia, sowie Scans und Abbildung der Original-LP. 1985 wandelten Scavenger gekonnt zwischen puren Power Metal europäischer Prägung und eingängigem, aber immer kraftvollem Heavy Metal. The restrictions are being lifted, the pandemic is over, and The Halo Effect is finally ready to meet its audience all over the world.

1970 was a time for heady experimentation in popular music, but very few records—and even fewer on major labels—come close to matching the stylistic ground covered by William S. Fischer’s album
Circles.
African American composer/arranger/keyboardist/saxophonist Fischer grew up woodshedding with the likes of Ray Charles, Fats Domino,
Muddy Waters, and Percy Mayfield…and then took a sudden left turn by studying electronic music in Vienna during the mid-‘60s. There, he met Joe Zawinul, and ended up penning five of the six tunes on Zawinul’s groundbreaking 1968 album The Rise and Fall of the Third Stream. Fischer went on to arrange for Herbie Mann, who signed him to his Embryo imprint for Atlantic Records; Circles was Fischer’s one and only release for the label. And he didn’t waste the opportunity; an utterly mindblowing mix of Sly Stone funk, heavy Hendrix-y metal, Southern soul, jazz fusion, and Stockhausen-esque explorations on the Moog synthesizer, Circles enlisted the same band (bassist Ron Carter, guitarists Eric Weissberg and Hugh McCracken) that Fischer had worked with while acting as Musical Director on Eugene Daniels’ underground classic Outlaw, complemented by drummer Billy Cobham and a five-piece cello section. With a line-up like that, it’s little wonder that the artistic reach of Circles is breathtaking, but it somehow manages to cohere according to its own internal, crazy logic; it remains one of the most adventuresome and collectible releases of its day. For this, its first-ever vinyl reissue, we’ve pressed 2000 copies in “black ice” vinyl, preserved the original “circle” cut-out stencil cover, and added liner notes by Peter Relic that feature quotes from Fischer himself. Stemming out of an offer from Roadburn Festival organizer Walter Hoeijmakers, mutual acquaintances, and a shared love of each other's output, May Our Chambers Be Full is the first recorded document of collaboration between Emma Ruth Rundle and Thou. While their solo material seems on its face to be quite disparate, both groups have spent their respective careers lurking at the outer boundaries of the heavy metal scene, the artists having more in common with DIY punk and its spiritual successor, grunge. May Our Chambers Be Full straddles a similar, very fine line both musically and thematically. While Emma Ruth Rundle's standard fare is a blend of post-rock-infused folk music, and Thou is typically known for its downtuned, doomy sludge, the conjoining of the two artists has created a record more in the vein of the early '90s Seattle sound and later '90s episodes of Alternative Nation, while still retaining much of the artists' core identities. Likewise, the lyrical content of the album is a marriage of mental trauma, existential crises, and the ecstatic tradition of the expressionist dance movement. "Excessive sorrow laughs. Excessive joy weeps." Melodic, melancholic, heavy, visceral. The visual art accompanying this work was created in collaboration with preeminent New Orleans photographer Craig Mulcahy. The faceless, genderless models are meant to emphasize this pervasive state of ambiguity and emotional vacillation, the images falling somewhere between modern high fashion and classical Renaissance.

Mit "Simple Mind Condition" kehrt Trouble nach einer langen Pause (zwölf Jahre waren seit der Veröffentlichung von "Plastic Green Head" vergangen) in den Himmel des Metals zurück. Auf die Veröffentlichung folgten einige Beschwerden und Kritiken, die nicht wirklich fair sind. Zwar sind fette und doomige Stampfer wie auf "Psalm 9" und "The Skull" nicht im Überfluss vorhanden, ebenso wenig wie die Stoner-Metal-Geschwindigkeitsattacken des selbstbetitelten "Trouble", aber beides war seit dem Erscheinen des selbstbetitelten Albums nicht mehr wirklich vorhanden.

"Manic Frustration" war ein Killer-Album, ohne Zweifel, aber anders, da es sich auf Hardrock und nicht auf Doom- und Stoner-Einflüsse konzentrierte. "Plastic Green Head" behob dieses Problem auf beeindruckende Weise und führte zu einem weiteren großartigen Trouble-Album. Dieses Album enthält Songs, die gut geschrieben sind und eine Menge schlammiger Stoner-Hooks haben, und die von Eric Wagners (R.I.P.) Wehe-ist-mirSchreibweise getränkt sind. Insgesamt ein sehr gutes Album, ein überzeugendes Album, das es wert ist, gehört zu werden. Wer die Vergangenheit erwartet, könnte ein wenig enttäuscht sein, aber wer sich die Zeit für dieses Album nimmt, wird darin einen verborgenen Schatz finden.

Wir haben uns entschlossen, der Wiederveröffentlichung ein wahres Juwel hinzuzufügen, nämlich das komplette Set ihrer Reunion-Show vom November 2003, live aufgenommen in Stockholm, Schweden. Returning to B.A.B.E for a fourth installment, it’s only right Habgud brings along four top notch collaborators, introducing fresh ideas into the labels catalogue. The A side tracks featuring Cleric and Yant were created with an eye to the peak time dance floor, each with euphoric moments laden with swinging percussion and high energy synths. B side contributions with Cressida and ASEC serve as more tunneling, heads down approaches to club tracks – both of which delve deep into meticulous sound design. This record fully encapsulates the label’s ethos – of Burning the Candle at Both Ends.

Frances Castle is the illustrator/owner behind the Clay Pipe record label and The Hardy Tree is her on- going musical project. Common Grounds was started during the first 2020 lock down - when time moved very slowly and travel away from home became impossible.

The album was recorded at home by Frances, then mixed to tape with Ed Deegan at Gizzard Analogue Studios in East London. Ed plays drums on three of the tracks.

“Like many others with nowhere else to go, I walked the streets of my neighbourhood for exercise and well-being. I rambled like I might in the country side; stopping every now and then to take in the view, or notice something I’d missed before. I took to looking up local streets in historical newspapers, and read reports of mysteries and crimes that had happened here in the past. I researched the names of the people who had lived in my flat before me, viewed old census returns from the surrounding area, and noted the birth places and livelihoods of past residents. I began to see the ghosts of these people on my walks, and notice the things that they had left behind; shapes of ancient tram tracks creeping under the tarmac, an old gas street lamp in an alleyway, a tiny metal sign indicating a culverted river. I spent my evenings writing and recording the music on this LP, and then the following day would listen to the rough mixes as I walked, the music began to soundtrack the walks, and the walks began influencing the type of music I was creating.” - Frances Castle, 2022

Very limited vinyl pressing, 500 copies in a full colour single outer sleeve and full colour printed lyric inner sleeve, housing black and white smoke effect vinyl. Two albums in and London’s Grave Lines, purveyors of ‘heavy gloom’ have already carved a unique niche in the myriad spheres of heavy music. Their first album ‘Welcome To Nothing’ set the tone for their distinct take on doom metal, which was broadened even further with album two ‘Fed Into The Nihilist Engine’. An epic feast of hard ‘n’ heavy riffs coupled with brooding sadness interspersed with thoughtful transcendent moments of introspection. Never a band to rely solely on trotting out those ‘doom metal’ tropes, the band began to weave in gothic and experimental elements into their music, to delve deeper into the dark shadows of the psyche. Now with their third album ‘Communion’ Grave Lines continue their exploration into the ugliness of the human condition, at the same time becoming a band that truly defies any pigeonhole. Continuing to hone and evolve their collective vision and aided by the masterful production of Andy Hawkins at The Nave Studios, 'Communion' sees Grave Lines creep further into the various corners of their sound. In a nutshell ‘Communion’ is a violent descent of bile-soaked intensity spiralling between filth laden swagger, and fragile mournful lament. The album delves into the internal aloneness of existence and the failings of the human connection. Owing as much to Bauhaus and Killing Joke as it does to Black Sabbath or Neurosis, there are moments of gut wrenching doomed up heaviness and bellowing noise rock, contrasting with ambient gothic passages and a thoughtful melancholy, to a create a powerful new chapter in their ceaseless journey through the gloom. The seven tracks act as distinctly separate representations of the album, each individually mirroring the remoteness of human consciousness. Opening track 'Gordian' doesn't waste any time, a burst of feedback kicks you straight into a filthy low slung punked up stomp before the band switch mood to drop off into a doom abyss, singer Jake raging at the void. 'Argyraphaga' continues the pummelling groove, gradually descending into nihilistic sludge. In direct contrast the sprawling atmosphere of 'Lyceanid' travels through the darkness. Jake’s vocals harnessing the spirits of Scott Walker and Mark Lanegan in equal measure. The rest of the band (on top form throughout) focus the dynamics over eleven enthralling minutes, as the song builds and builds to a towering crescendo before finishing with a plaintive acoustic coda. This is pure Grave Lines’. An immersive blend of darkness and light. 'Tachinid' is a violent palette cleanser, harsh industrial synths astride a hateful droning spoken word sermon. 'Carcini' is soaring melancholic doom, with the band at their most melodic whilst still able to crush the listener. Broodsac, with its circular riffs, is all gothic post punk noise rock meets fuzz fat riffs, and album closer ‘Sinensis’ offers a final delicate, melancholy moment of calm before launching into an industrial charged grind into oblivion. Grave Lines’ fusion of elements makes them one of the most powerful and mesmerising bands inhabiting the heavy music world at the moment, and with ‘Communion’ they have crafted an album that encapsulates their distinctive dynamic perfectly. ‘COMMUNION’ will be released in deluxe black and white smoke effect vinyl, housed in a full colour single sleeve with download included, CD and all digital platforms

A match made in heaven and hell, since forming in the cradle of Europe Athens, back in 2012, dark synth duo Selofan have paved their own perditious way, reinventing the modern Darkwave scene throughout the continent and worldwide with their prolific creativity and work ethic over the past decade. Through varied experimental synth-scapes conjured with keen ears for sound design, production, and theatrical aesthetics, Selofan rest not on the laurels of just creating highly danceable coldwave infused music, but with together with Joanna Pavlidou's haunting vocals, and Dimitris Pavlidis' throbbing bass guitar, and modular synth compositions, the pair conjure whole other worlds and narratives throughout each album and music video they create. Thus far the Selofan have released 5 studio albums, issued through their own legendary label they curate themselves: Fabrika Records. Through their Fabrika family, Selofan have championed such acts as Lebanon Hanover, and She Past Away, aiding these bands in becoming two of the most popular Darkwave acts worldwide. Drab Majesty even cameoed in a She Past Away video while being hosted by Selofan during one of the band's frequent stays in Athens, and Kaelan Mikla, a handpicked favorite of The Cure, were first championed by Selofan, through the release of the Icelandic Trio's self-titled debut in 2016. In the Spring of 2020, Selofan released the video for the hopelessly plaintive "There Must Be Somebody", the first single from their forthcoming sixth studio album Partners In Hell, the follow-up to 2018's widely popular Vitrioli LP. "There Must be Somebody" is a discordant composition, mimicking the startled song of birds after a disturbance in a wooded enclave on a mountainside, while a magick ritual unfolds. The album itself opens with "Grey Gardens", a menagerie of morose melodies setting a sombre tone for the rest of a bleak record whose sound design and dreamscapes evoke the best sounds of British and German post-punk of the 80s. "Almost Nothing" is a brooding bell-driven track with a dark and pirouetting melody that is the perfect soundtrack to a figurine twirling in a music box. The German language "Nichts" means No, and this song is both sinister and cinematic with sighing keys, shuddering drum machines, and German lyrics sung with sorrowful conviction. "Zusamen", is a word often asked if you are together, or separate, is a dark ballad whose shadowy keys weave a nightmarish delirium, evoking the soundscapes of a lullaby sung in a haunted dollhouse. "4am" is a restless rhythm, whose soft percussive melody tosses and turns alongside subtle bass and string accents overlaid with despondent vocals. "Happy Consumers" sounds like the swirling of a finger drawn upon the edge of crystalline glass, with vocals and drum machines coming emanating from an adjacent room with echoing acoustics, collectively evoking the sound like lingers when the somnambulist wakes from his dream. "Absolutely Absent" hums onward like a phantom train ride that is a one-way ticket to madness, and with the next track "Metalic Isolation" the locomotive beats gather more steam, propelled forward with anachronistic melody. The album closes with "Auf Dein Haut", which translates as on your skin, and the song is both tactile and tenebrous with sensuously dark synth textures amidst howling German vocals that take flight like witches during a sabbat. Dub War trennten sich 1999 und 3/4 der Band entfachten im Crossover-Metal mit ihrer neugegründeten Band namens Skindred ein neues Feuer. 2014 kam es dann zu einem Live-Comeback von DUB WAR durch vereinzelte Konzerte, aber erst 2016 wurden offiziell neue Songs veröffentlicht, um dann endlich im Sommer 2022 mit dem neuen Album für die grosse Comeback-Sensation über Earache Records zu sorgen!

Im Frühjahr erschien das Kracher-Album „Monster Mind Consuming“ welches mit den Ohrwürmern „Ori Ori“ und „Heathens“ zu einem Meilenstein der Bandhistorie wurde. Nur knapp ein halbes Jahr später legten die Außnahmekünstler mit der „Nightcall EP“ nach.

Am 12.08.2022 entfesseln sie mit ihrem brandneuen Album „Kreatura“ die nächste musikalische Bestie, die bereit ist, die Charts und die großen Bühnen zu stürmen.

Through varied experimental synth-scapes conjured with keen ears for sound design, production, and theatrical aesthetics, Selofan rest not on the laurels of just creating highly danceable coldwave infused music, but with together with Joanna Pavlidou's haunting vocals, and Dimitris Pavlidis' throbbing bass guitar, and modular synth compositions, the pair conjure whole other worlds and narratives throughout each album and music video they create. In the Spring of 2020, Selofan released the video for the hopelessly plaintive "There Must Be Somebody", the first single from their forthcoming sixth studio album Partners In Hell, the follow-up to 2018's widely popular Vitrioli LP. "There Must be Somebody" is a discordant composition, mimicking the startled song of birds after a disturbance in a wooded enclave on a mountainside, while a magick ritual unfolds. The album itself opens with "Grey Gardens", a menagerie of morose melodies setting a sombre tone for the rest of a bleak record whose sound design and dreamscapes evoke the best sounds of British and German post-punk of the 80s. "Almost Nothing" is a brooding bell-driven track with a dark and pirouetting melody that is the perfect soundtrack to a figurine twirling in a music box. The German language "Nichts" means No, and this song is both sinister and cinematic with sighing keys, shuddering drum machines, and German lyrics sung with sorrowful conviction. "Zusamen", is a word often asked if you are together, or separate, is a dark ballad whose shadowy keys weave a nightmarish delirium, evoking the soundscapes of a lullaby sung in a haunted dollhouse. "4am" is a restless rhythm, whose soft percussive melody tosses and turns alongside subtle bass and string accents overlaid with despondent vocals. "Happy Consumers" sounds like the swirling of a finger drawn upon the edge of crystalline glass, with vocals and drum machines coming emanating from an adjacent room with echoing acoustics, collectively evoking the sound like lingers when the somnambulist wakes from his dream. "Absolutely Absent" hums onward like a phantom train ride that is a one-way ticket to madness, and with the next track "Metalic Isolation" the locomotive beats gather more steam, propelled forward with anachronistic melody. The album closes with "Auf Dein Haut", which translates as on your skin, and the song is both tactile and tenebrous with sensuously dark synth textures amidst howling German vocals that take flight like witches during a sabbat. It’s been an exhilarating 40-year ride for Voivod, the Jonquière, Quebec quartet that has, over the years, defied the odds, faced tragedy head on and also seen the band rise above many of the contemporaries to a point where the band’s intricate progressively fuelled heavy metal sound also brings with it honours and awards. The 2018 Voivod album, ‘The Wake’, won the band a Juno Award for Heavy Metal Album of The Year, while the previous year Away had picked up the Visionary Award at that year’s Progressive Music Awards in London.

The music contained in this set proves that Voivod were very much pioneers of the sound, as their own music became more refined and experimental. Uns gefällt, was Trouble mit diesem Album, "Plastic Green Head", gemacht haben. Die Musik klingt zwar nicht ganz so wie die völlig doomigen, erdrückenden Riffs auf dem früheren Material, aber was Trouble hier machen, klingt alles andere als nicht authentisch. Um nicht in die Irre zu gehen: Es klingt definitiv immer noch nach Trouble, aber sie scheinen einen entspannteren Stoner-Metal-Ansatz gewählt zu haben; sie opfern die düsteren Atmosphären für beschwingtere Stimmungen.

Die ersten paar Tracks sind absolut fantastische Angebote von Vintage Trouble. Das verspielte, thrashige Riff des Titeltracks, das das Album er- öffnet, ist ein großartiger Einstieg in die Musik.

Since the release of Superstition back in 2018, FUNERAL CHIC has been through something of a metamorphosis, a rebirth if you will. With renewed purpose and a line up that has been solidified along the way, the four piece are preparing to release their third full length album, Roman Candle, this summer. Holding no desire to make the same album twice, they have eschewed the punk-led powerviolence that informed their previous work and have embraced the great tradition of American rock and roll - but given it a very distinctive FUNERAL CHIC twist. The swagger of proto-punk forefathers The Stooges and The New York Dolls imbues the darkest, grittiest corners of their reinvigorated sound, and can also be found on their cover of Roky Erickson’s Two Headed Dog. The caustic energy of early thrash and black metal scenes is also present, flickering with unmistakable incandescence throughout. Having previously led with their outspoken politics, this time the lyrics are refracted through a more personal - but no less fervoured - lens. With members of the band taking a path of sobriety in recent years, the knot of rage that was previously doused with alcohol has been channeled into the lyrics on Roman Candle instead. Ten tales of sweat and pungent aggression dripping into a powder keg of a global identity crisis weave throughout the album’s length. We like what Trouble have done with this album, “Plastic Green Head”. The music sounds fairly dissimilar to the completely doom-laden, crushing riffs present on the earlier material, but what Trouble do here sounds every bit authentic. Not to mislead you, this definitely still sounds like Trouble, but they seem to have adopted a more laidback, stoner metal approach; sacrificing sinister atmospheres for more upbeat ones. The first few tracks are completely awesome offerings of vintage Trouble. The playful, thrashy riff of the title track, which opens the album, is a great introduction to the music at hand and Eric Wagner’s distinctive vocals sound powerful overtop. “Plastic Green Head,” “The Eye,” “Flowers,” these are all what you would expect from Trouble, huge churning riffs, 80 bpm drumbeats, Eric Wagners nasal yet powerful voice. They are simple, they are catchy, and they are just plain good. “The Porpoise Song” is a cover of a song by The Monkees, and strangely enough it’s very good. Big wall of guitar noise, and Eric singing in a less nasal and more melodic voice. “Opium Eater” sounds like it could easily be an Alice in Chains song. On this album there is silly plenty of Sabbath worship, but also more of an upbeat, hard rock feel. We would even say that a little grunge has crept into their sound (to be fair, it’s probably the other way around, Trouble influence crept into grunge.) If you’re looking for a nice dose of stoner metal, you’ll find just that right here. There’s plenty of memorable riffs which provide good replay value, and although you won’t find as much doom as you might expect from Trouble, it’s still there if you look for it.

Fear Factory is an American Industrial Metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1990. Throughout their career they have released nine full-length albums with a tenth studio album coming in 2021. Soul Of A New Machine is the band’s debut album for Roadrunner Records, released on August 25, 1992.

AllMusic's Jason Birchmeier gave the album three stars out of five, remarking that "Fear Factory were quite ahead of their time in 1992". The critic also noted the diversity of the genres featured in the recording, saying that "Soul of a New Machine was so ground-breaking because it fused together some of the best aspects of numerous metal subgenres", which "[resulted] in a unique sound". Rock Hard rated the album highly, saying that the sound of the album was strange, indescribable yet required listening. Rock Hard also complimented the blending of various sub-genres, with particular note to Burton Bell for managing such an eclectic set of vocals.

from other albums. Rogga did some work on old
songs and recorded them again with a little twist,
especially for Doc Records. He also dug into his
vault to find some never-released songs, so it’s
much more than just a compilation.

When they released their first single, ‘Give It To Me’, in the summer of 2021, Classless Act were immediately praised for their ability to sound both fresh and timeless.
