John Prine’s Grammy Award-winning album, Fair & Square, is available on vinyl for the first time in over sixteen years. There are three special double LPs: standard black, opaque green and a limited amount of “Irish Edition”—green and orange vinyl with a matte jacket featuring embossed lettering.
Originally released in 2005, Fair & Square won Best Contemporary Folk Album at the 48th Grammy Awards and achieved the fastest rise to number one in the history of Americana radio. The record marked Prine’s first album in nine years, following 1995’s Lost Dogs and Mixed Blessings. Rolling Stone declared Fair & Square “an excellent set of songs full of rootsy warmth and unpretentious wit,” while The Washington Post praised its relatability: “this low-key masterpiece arrives not just as a reminder of Prine’s cleverness and mischievous wit but also as a confirmation of his deeply human values. House anthem Slo Moshun “Bells Of NY” is one of the most iconic gems in the Network catalogue and gets a timely reissue.

The lovingly remastered 12” includes the epic nearly 9 minutes long “House To House Mix” which started the fuss in the first place, plus the much loved by DJs “Xen Mantra Beefy Bells Mix” which like fine wine seems to have matured with age.

It’s almost impossible to explain the hype that exploded when the first copies of this landed in 1993. Network pressed a limited run of the first copies on the Dansa label with
bogus New York producer credits in an attempt to create mystique.

The combination of that relentless uptempo house piano and the break where everythIng slows down underneath a hip hop sample hypnotic proved irresistible, and saturation radio plays from KISS in London turned the track into an instant anthem right away.

The the boss of a rival label boasted they had sourced the track and paid “a fortune” to licence it for UK release. He was making it up as a stampede by labels to locate and release the track began.

Network sensed an opportunity to create major mischief and create even more of a buzz. New York garage producer and Network ally Andrew Komis was enlisted and happily donned the bogus ID of a new kid on the block NYC producer to do phone interviews with UK dance music publications.

His pretend story that Bells Of NY was his homage to the UK House scene laced with Big Apple Hip-Hop was eagerly printed by the magazines.

They were left red faced when the truth emerged that former Nexus 21 and Altern 8 member Mark Archer and his new music making partner Danny Taurus had in fact come up with the gem in homely Staffordshire and not glamorous New York for Network.

All the PR spin in the World would not matter a not if the record didn’t live up to the hype.

It gave Network a first chart hit on their six6 label and more importantly is an all time House Music Classic.

Heidi Fial's Trio Kontrapunk spielt spröden, cineastischen Instrumentaljazz in Tiefen-schürfender Besetzung. Das musikalische Spektrum bewegt sich zwischen Jazz, Desert Rock und barockem Kontrapunkt. Die aus diesen ungleichen Elementen resultierende Harmonie öffnet dem individuellen Kopfkino alle erdenklichen Türen. Ihr im Sommer 2021 erscheinendes Debut Album A MOTION PICTURE (Konkord Records) ist der Soundtrack zu einem imaginären Film über die (allzu aktuelle, aber keineswegs neue) Angst vor Ungewissheit und Vergänglichkeit und den Mut, sowohl kreative Lösungen zu finden als auch unaufdringliche, schlichte Schönheit zu umarmen. Das Album wurde live auf einer 16-Spur Bandmaschine von Chris Janka auf dem original Mischpult aus dem historischen Saal des österreichischen Funkhauses in Wien aufgenommen, analog gemischt & gemastert. Every Day is a Day is Cold Hart’s first LP for Epitaph. As a co-founder of
the seminal rap collective GothBoiClique, (along with Lil Peep, Lil Tracy,
YAWNS) Cold Hart has consistently been on the cutting edge of alternative

Sein fein destillierter Sound lässt sich dabei zwischen Roots Rock, Americana, Folk und Jazz treiben. Steve Gunn ist Traditionalist und Suchender zugleich. Zumeist geht er nur mit losen Ideen ins Studio, bei denen er am Anfang nie so genau weiß, wo sie ihn am Ende hinführen werden. Ähnlich gestaltete sich das auch dieses Mal. "Medieval Femme", Fatima Al Qadiris neue zehn Stücke umfassende Suite, die von den klassischen Gedichten arabischer Frauen inspiriert ist, beschwört durch die Metapher eines islamischen Gartens einen Tagtraum herauf, an der Grenze zwischen Depression und Sehnsucht, wo sich die Gegenwart vorübergehend auflöst und nur Vergangenheit und Zukunft übrig bleiben. Mit einer Mischung aus Neon-Drones und den schwachen Umrissen einer arabesken Melodie offenbart "Medieval Femme" eine vollendete, traumhafte Szenerie, schattiert mit Farben und subtilen Reibungen. Fatima versucht, den Hörer in einen Zustand melancholischer Sehnsucht zu versetzen und ihn an einen Ort der Träumerei und Trostlosigkeit zu entführen, um die Grenze zwischen zwei scheinbar gegensätzlichen Zuständen zu hinterfragen und sich an himmlischer Trauer zu erfreuen. "Medieval Femme" verwendet Instrumente aus der Musik des Mittelalters, die in einer futuristischen Umgebung neu arrangiert wurden; sanfte Synthesizer-Laute, Orgeln und Pfeifen hallen im Raum, während hauchdünne Pulse als Antwort kräuseln. Fatimas Gesang aus wiederholten, mantraähnlichen Phrasen wird manchmal gepitcht und verändert, um immer intensivere Spitzen, engelsgleiche Refrains und sehnsüchtige Beschwörungen hervorzubringen. Bei "Tasakuba", Kaltham Jassims Rezitation eines Verspaares des Dichters Al-Khansa aus dem 7. World-renowned group GusGus have returned with their 11th studio album, the highly emotive Mobile Home, marking their first album release since 2018. The collective once again prove their commitment to pushing their artistic boundaries as they release one of their most ambitious and powerful albums in decades. For their latest record, GusGus call on VÖK’s lead singer Margrét Rán to help expand their style, keeping the collective’s sound as fresh as ever. The 9-track album features a concoction of electronic rock, ambient, darkwave, downtempo, and synthpop.

After announcing a new album in October 2020, GusGus wowed fans with their first single “Higher,” offering a first taste of how VÖK’s impactful vocals mesh seamlessly with GusGus’ intelligent and powerful electronic production. “Higher” was soon followed up with the darker, downtempo “Stay The Ride” and the bright and energetic synth work on “Our World.” The three captivating singles each received equally remarkable music videos courtesy of founding members Arni & Kinski, the directing team known for working with the likes of Sigur Rós, Kiasmos, Ólafur Arnalds, Of Monsters and Men, and more.

Every track on Mobile Home doubles as a window into a futuristic dystopian world that has been overtaken by machines. A nod to the rise of technology and ever-growing uncertainty surrounding automation, the album explores themes of solitude, rebellion, science fiction, hedonism, pleasure, and anger. Swirling within this world is a disconnected, aching soul who is on the verge of slipping into complete dementia. Forgotten purpose and goals but continues to be driven by the hedonistic default program of material consciousness; sensually self-indulgent and engaged in the pursuit of pleasure alone. In Mobile Home, GusGus challenge themselves like never before, resulting in a wonderfully chaotic reflection of the ongoing war between soul and machine.

With Mobile Home, GusGus show the quality and sonic diversity of the singles pervades throughout the full LP, while preserving the melodramatic themes that tie its 9 tracks together. “Simple Tuesday” showcases the group’s aptitude for blending contemporary electronic production with pop sensibilities while keeping an optimistic tonality at the forefront. Meanwhile, “Love Is Alone” and “Original Heartbreak” offer a slower, more pensive take on synthpop, and evoke feelings of solitude and deep melancholia. “Silence” and “The Rink” boast some of GusGus’s more experimental production, each alternating between radio-ready vocal verses with inventive and exciting synth elements. Sonically and gravitationally defined by Cox’s collaboration with guitarist Andy Thomas (a partnership which formed in 1976 to record as General Motors), Sync or Swim, The Same’s one and only album, also featured keyboards by Florence Atkinson and Paul Ridout, and vocals by Robert’s sister Rebecca.

Originally released in small cassette and vinyl quantities on Unlikely Records, Cox’s imprint and a meeting point for many other musicians found at the fringe, the back cover of the original album jacket is as much a map of the personnel, place, and process

fundamental to Sync or Swim as it is a table of contents for DIY music-making at the beginning of the 80s: “Recorded in peaceful Wiltshire between September 18th and October 6th 1981 (using a miscellany of home made devices) onto a Teac A-3300SX via a Teac A-3440. No noise reduction systems were used.”

The additional equipment listed – a combination of consumer technology and DIY innovation – speaks to an unpretentious, improvisational ethos that pilots Sync or Swim, and Cox’s career as a whole. Rimarimba, whose near complete discography Freedom To Spend made available again in 2019, showcased Cox’s simultaneously hermetic and prolific creative process, while The Same celebrates making sound for sound’s sake and the serendipity surrounding those moments.

Wiltshire, home to the Stonehenge stone circles and a county of empty plains in the southwest of England, is worlds away from the commerce and industry of Glenn Branca’s New York City or Neu’s Düsseldorf. While The Same may feel in some ways like a British blend of these minimalist and motorik machinations, Cox and Thomas were curiously fascinated with The Grateful Dead and Frank Zappa’s brand of psychedelic music.

Cox’s own definition of British psychedelia is “folk music meeting technology and going bonkers.” It’s by this definition that Sync or Swim takes unexpected forms, from tape-speed tomfoolery, concrète sound collage and analog delayed marimbas, to the colorful spectrum of interwoven guitar play between Cox and Thomas reminiscent of Ghanaian Highlife but more accurately indebted to Jerry Garcia.

Cryovac Recordings recognizes and recruits artists with individualism and creativity to add to its list of collaborators. Cryovac has evolved into a project that is brought to life by craftsmen, musicians and visual artists that give their time and effort for a common cause. Cryovac aims to weave a thread between the varying sonic approaches that describe a direction techno must go. A. García tends the cryovac from conception to press; combining with Mike Kretsch to create a unique minimal sound. Mr. Joshooa has the tools and know how to describe his personality as his work. He swims the Detroit techno-sphere wearing many hats, and is always pushing techno forward by any means necessary. Cryovac is a vehicle for the rebel spirit; we hope you listen to it.
The Cat Lover E.P. starts with Mr. Joshooa taking his time weaving a slow funky grind. “Horse Hockey’ is the name of this 4/4 two step that gallops and bangs its way through cinematic synth rises, heroic harmony, and crunchy to smooth samples. Mr. Joshooa's mischievousness is on full display with his second jam “fuck around”. Tumbling samples form a bop that is maneuvered playfully through a hectic arrangement. Side 2 is a. garcia and Mike Kretsch’s domain. Their first effort minimally clicks and rings into a soulful melody; popping rhythm holds your body to terra firma so your mind can “spacetravel”. B2 ,”meerkat”, opens with a raw kick on top of marmic synth evolving into a dramatic techno drive turning and shaking along a desolate road

Klasse Indie-Rock von Downunder. Riley Jones, Louis Forster und James Harrison sind seit Ewigkeiten beste Freunde deren gemeinsame Leidenschaft die Musik ist. Folgerichtig manifestierte man den Bund der Freundschaft in einer gemeinsamen Band schon zu High School Zeiten - The Goon Sax waren geboren. "Mirror II" ist bereits das dritte Album der australischen Indieband, gleichzeitig ihr Debüt auf ihrem neuen Label Matador Records und zudem ein Aufbruch in neue Soundwelten. Das 2016 erschienene Debütalbum "Up to Anything" war eine Mischung aus Selbstfindung und musikalischen Feldversuchen zum Nachfolger "We're Not Talking" (2018) hatten man seinen ganz eigenen Sound gefunden hatte. Für "Mirror II" ließen sich die drei Australier drei Jahre Zeit. Louis zog zwischenzeitlich nach Berlin, wo er in einem Kino arbeitete, während Riley und James eine Post-Punk-Band mit dem Namen Soot gründeten. Alle drei experimentierten in dieser Zeit mit teils abstrakter Musik und atonalen Sounds, nun folgt die Rückbesinnung zum Pop. Jedes Bandmitglied bringt dabei seine ganz eigene Art des Songwriting ein. Rileys musikalische Vorbilder wie Les Rallizes Dénudés, Keijo Haino aber auch Kylie Minogue hört man auf "Desire" und "Tag". Louis ist wiederum beeinflusst von avantgardistischem Pop. Er liebt Bands wie HTRK, Young Marble Giants und Stereolab, aber auch Hits von poppigeren Künstlern wie The 1975 oder Justin Bieber. Aus diesen Einflüssen entstanden Songs wie "Psychic" oder "In the Stone". Klasse Indie-Rock von Downunder. Riley Jones, Louis Forster und James Harrison sind seit Ewigkeiten beste Freunde deren gemeinsame Leidenschaft die Musik ist. Folgerichtig manifestierte man den Bund der Freundschaft in einer gemeinsamen Band schon zu High School Zeiten - The Goon Sax waren geboren. "Mirror II" ist bereits das dritte Album der australischen Indieband, gleichzeitig ihr Debüt auf ihrem neuen Label Matador Records und zudem ein Aufbruch in neue Soundwelten. Das 2016 erschienene Debütalbum "Up to Anything" war eine Mischung aus Selbstfindung und musikalischen Feldversuchen zum Nachfolger "We're Not Talking" (2018) hatten man seinen ganz eigenen Sound gefunden hatte. Für "Mirror II" ließen sich die drei Australier drei Jahre Zeit. Louis zog zwischenzeitlich nach Berlin, wo er in einem Kino arbeitete, während Riley und James eine Post-Punk-Band mit dem Namen Soot gründeten. Alle drei experimentierten in dieser Zeit mit teils abstrakter Musik und atonalen Sounds, nun folgt die Rückbesinnung zum Pop. Jedes Bandmitglied bringt dabei seine ganz eigene Art des Songwriting ein. Rileys musikalische Vorbilder wie Les Rallizes Dénudés, Keijo Haino aber auch Kylie Minogue hört man auf "Desire" und "Tag". Louis ist wiederum beeinflusst von avantgardistischem Pop. Er liebt Bands wie HTRK, Young Marble Giants und Stereolab, aber auch Hits von poppigeren Künstlern wie The 1975 oder Justin Bieber. Aus diesen Einflüssen entstanden Songs wie "Psychic" oder "In the Stone". fter a hiatus of over eight years Fuzzy Lights are making a welcome return. Burials is the follow-up to the critically acclaimed album Rule of Twelfths, and the fourth album from the Cambridge-based post-folk collective. 

Their sound has been stripped back to its component parts, deconstructed and rebuilt under less obvious influences. There’s a bedrock of folk-rock - predecessors like Trees and Fairport Convention - but this is then built upon through multiple layers, from the stillness of Talk Talk to the orchestral chaos of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. With Burials Fuzzy Lights have cultivated these sounds and influences into something new and fresh that distances the album from the rest of the folk-rock crowd.

The most striking element of these songs is how intimate they are. Lyricist Rachel Watkins has revealed a lot about herself in these seven songs, which have been written from a very personal perspective. Raw experiences have been distilled into each piece, her translucent vocals often betraying the content of the songs themselves. The album is bookended with the most personal of these. Opener ‘The Maidens Call’ reveals her loss from suffering a miscarriage, whilst album closer, ‘The Gathering Storm’ frames the rallying cry of women’s rights around how individuals must work together now, and in future generations, to destroy prejudice. There is also engagement with humanity’s immediate surroundings and the environment. ‘Under The Waves’ deals with devastation of coral reefs, ocean resources and our natural world, and ‘The Graveyard Song’ imagines the perception of time from the juxtaposed views of a yew tree and a young woman.

As scenarios, paths, and outcomes shift around us, Burials’ amalgam of glowering, intense instrumentation, timeless, weightless melody, and exactingly revealing lyricism carves a very particular path through the world. This is music that tears us away from the everyday not just as a form of escapism, but as a means of self-reflection on hardship and the strategies we develop to overcome it.  It is the band’s rawest yet most accomplished statement to date.

Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie, alongside solo artist and Savages vocalist Jehnny Beth, presents this stunning debut solo project collection - exploring loss, miscommunication and emotional inarticulacy that a married couple experience as they realise that their relationship is breaking down.



‘Utopian Ashes’ draws on the tradition of country soul classics, such as Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris’s ‘Grievous Angel’ and George Jones and Tammy Wynette’s ‘We Go Together’, to deal with the heavy realities of love turning sour. It’s an album for people who have dealt with the inevitable sadness that comes with age and acknowledged the realities of life. There is no sweetening of the pill, but it does achieve what should be the goal of all good art: to make us feel less alone. And while it’s not autobiographical, it channels heartfelt truth from the songwriters’ own experiences.



In addition to Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth, the album features Johnny Hostile (bass) alongside Primal Scream trio Andrew Innes (guitar), Martin Duffy (piano) and Darrin Mooney (drums).
