Loose Joints – Tell You (Today): A Rediscovered Classic Reimagined

Loose Joints was the disco brainchild of Arthur Russell - a visionary composer and producer who helped shape the sound of New York’s underground club scene. Unlike many of his contemporaries who chased polished perfection, Russell embraced rawness and spontaneity. A classically trained musician, he mastered the art of crafting “perfect imperfections,” infusing disco with a punk attitude and an intellectual edge.

“Tell You (Today)” emerged from the same legendary Blank Tape Studio sessions that gave birth to the cult favorite “Is It All Over My Face.” Like its predecessor, it features a cast of handpicked studio luminaries and disco outliers, all guided by Russell’s distinct vision. But while the DNA is similar, this track veers more toward leftfield pop, buoyed by Russell’s unmistakable vocals.

On the A-side, DFP presents a masterfully updated take on Larry Levan’s original remix. Blending unreleased outtakes with refined sonic upgrades, this “Special Version” stays true to the source material - making only the most delicate adjustments to optimize it for today’s dance floors.

The B-side is a gem in its own right. It features the elusive New Shoes Mix with Parts I & II edited here for seamless, continuous play. Long shrouded in confusion due to misprints and misattributions - from the 1983 release to various reissues - while labeled as New Shoes it has in most iterations been a variation of the Larry Levan mix.

Now, for the first time, DFP Vaults is proud to present the New Shoes Mix in its full, 15 minutes, intended glory - finally giving this lost version the recognition it deserves.

Halina Rice is a London-based electronic music artist known for her groundbreaking approach to music production and live performance.Rice has established herself as a leading figure in the contemporary electronic scene, blending complex soundscapes with immersive visual elements.

Her previous releases have been praised for their innovative use of technology and emotional depth, earning her a dedicated following around the world.

Berlin techno talent Regent returns to Mutual Rytm with second 12" release, 'Delta Hyve' - a five-track package lined with peak-time heat.

Regent is an ever-growing voice in the global techno conversation. His tracks have found their way into high-profile sets worldwide and are renowned for their impressive blend of the past and the present. Versatile but always designed for maximum impact, delivering an impressively crafted sound made for powerful systems, this new outing offers a wealth of different moods and grooves for various parts of the night. Returning to SHDW's Mutual Rytm imprint following 2023's successful 'Coral Knife' EP, he unveils a fresh selection of cuts that emphasise his emergence with 'Delta Hyve'.

The title cut 'Delta Hyve' opens up with devastating low ends and busy synths that scurry about the mix to bring dynamism to the rooted drums, while 'Ophaal' delivers thumping kicks and coarse, textured hits scrape and scratch, while supersized hi-hats bring the intensity to all new levels. Blending masterful production prowess with soulful storytelling, this latest release features standout collaborations with two celebrated spoken word artists namely NYC’s OVEOUS and Atlanta via Detroit’s rising star Ash Lauryn. With « Take The Heartbreak », Nurse Erica explores a universal rite of passage. The first half of the track, broken and introspective, gradually gives way to a brighter second half : a glimmer of hope for every broken heart.

And with spatial vocals and cosmic atmospheres, what better way to close the journey than with the title track « Tree of Life » ? In this piece, Nurse Erica blends Trance-infused melodies with Progressive House percussion, enriched by luminous, nostalgic piano notes, like the blossoming of a tree. Deep.

Two decades after its original release, the trance classic “The Morgan’s Wave” returns in a fresh and contemporary form. Born in 2003 from the creative meeting between vocalist Caroline Eloy and producers Patrick Ketels and Xavier Romain, the track first gained attention through David Altrix (Galaxie Radio), and was signed by Diki Records in 2004 on its sub-label Green Valley.
In 2025, the idea to revive the track came from Caroline Eloy—now performing as Ce’Loy—who teamed up once again with David Altrix to envision a remix with a modern twist, keeping the original lyrics and piano melody while exploring a new musical direction.

They entrusted the remix to Narik (Freegrant Music, Bonzai Progressive, EinMusika), whose timeless production style brings a unique reinterpretation of the track. His version features deep, emotional textures and a subtle deconstruction of the vocal part, blending nostalgia with innovation.

Now released on Clair Obscur, this 2025 remix also serves as a heartfelt tribute to Patrick Ketels, who sadly passed away a few years ago.

LP1 kicks off in style, with the stunning jazz-drenched ballad from legend George Michael, ‘Older’, before Natalie Imbruglia's huge debut single ‘Torn’. The Cardigans had a #2 smash with ‘Lovefool’ and Hanson hit the US & UK #1 with ‘MMMBop’. ‘Barbie Girl’ from Aqua and the Spice Girls’ anthemic ‘Spice Up Your Life’ were both #1s, and Boyzone’s ‘Picture Of You’ was a huge hit and featured in the film ‘Bean: The Ultimate Disaster Movie’. Eurovision glory happened for the UK in 1997, and winners Katrina And The Waves with ‘Love Shine A Light’ close the first side…while over on the other, a second George Michael classic from his ‘Older’ album, the beautiful ‘You Have Been Loved’, opens ahead of another contemporary masterpiece ‘Secret Garden’ from Bruce Springsteen. Texas scored a UK top 5 with ‘Say What You Want’, and Sheryl Crow had a top 10 hit with ‘A Change Would Do You Good’. LP2 kicks off with Radiohead’s defining ‘Paranoid Android’, ahead of Kula Shaker’s hit cover of ‘Hush’, and alt-pop from Embrace (‘All You Good Good People’), The Charlatans (‘North Country Boy’) and The Seahorses (‘Love Is The Law’) before the side closes with Oasis’s huge #1 ‘D’You Know What I Mean?’ – the lead single from their third album ‘Be Here Now’… Flip the LP over and discover some of 1997’s dancefloor gold – opening with the club juggernaut and #1 ‘Professional Widow’ from Tori Amos, remixed for single release by Armand Van Helden, along with Olive’s UK #1 ‘You’re Not Alone’ and the huge ’97 ‘Now Voyager’ remix of ‘You Got The Love’ from The Source feat. Pan-European smash ‘Encore Une Fois’ from Sash! is followed by Ricky Martin’s global success ‘María’… but the final word on the collection goes to Elton John. NOW – Yearbook 1997: A celebration of the diversity and creativity in the charts of a truly magical year in pop.

German/Canadian outfit ANiML is a collection of artists with long histories in electronic music. They founded the Stratasonic label as a way of working with friends, peers and legends without any genre restrictions. Following the ‘Star Walk’ album, which was a comprehensive deep dive into their sound with improvisation and off-the-cuff collisions of a wide array of moods and grooves, it now gets remixed by three underground mainstays.

Detroit's Seth Troxler is one of the most iconic characters in the scene. His left-of-centre sets and sounds have taken him to the world's most notorious clubs, festivals and labels over the last 20 years. His take on 'Breather' is a richly layered minimal groove with suspensory pads rising up through a cosmic sky. There is a mystic quality to the pads and tripped-out atmosphere that will hypnotise dance.

Next is the legendary Mathew Jonson, a notorious synth magician and live show maestro with a jazz schooling and countless seminal tracks to his name. His understanding of dance floor dynamics and meaningful melody runs deep and shines through his remix of 'Baby D.' It's a wonky, off-balance rhythm with shimmering melodies and soulful vocal snippets. Fractured percussive sounds, muffled horns and golden keys marble the mix, which is psychedelic and wonderfully woozy.

Brooklyn-based Galcher Lustwerk has been at the forefront for more than a decade with a signature blend of experimental house and stream-of-consciousness rap informed by funk, rhythm, and blues. His compelling take on 'Bruv' is powered by a bubbly, acidic low-end with shadowy vocal whispers bleeding in and out of the raw, ice-cold beats.

Mr Bongo proudly presents Ritmo Italiano ‘Unspoken Sounds of Italian Tamburo’ a captivating compilation of percussive-driven, Italian gems curated by Sardinian multi-instrumentalist, percussionist and producer, Gabriele Poso. A journey into the heart of Italian musical history, it celebrates Italy’s rich rhythmic traditions, showcasing a selection of genre-traversing, Italian treasures from the ‘60s to the early ‘90s. Honouring the timeless rhythms of Italian percussion masters, alongside a brand-new exclusive composition by Gabriele, ‘Ritmo Italiano’ shines a light on the universal, primal language of the drum.

A connection sparked from an early age; percussion has always deeply resonated with Gabriele. It led to years of studying percussion traditions across Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Brazil, crafting his own songwriting skills in the process. An acclaimed producer and compiler, his releases on Yoruba Records, BBE and Soundway Records have garnered global support. Yet a growing need to rediscover the essence of his country’s cultural heritage laid the foundations for this new compilation.

In Gabriele’s own words, “Italy has always been a crossroads of civilizations, with influences from the Mediterranean, North Africa, the Middle East, and Europe converging over centuries. Ports like Naples, Genoa, and Venice played a crucial role as gateways for musical exchange, a melting pot of sounds and cultures brought by sailors, merchants and travellers. These influences blended with Italy’s own folk and religious traditions, creating Italy’s unique and emotionally resonant rhythms.”

Across the 12 absorbing tracks, there’s jazz influences, Italian library music aesthetics and experimental beats mixing with Afro-Cuban and Mediterranean rhythms. It’s a broad selection anchored by the drums. With its 22nd edition, Cocoon Compilation V once again bridges past and future, showcasing the essence of electronic music’s constant evolution. True to the spirit of the label, this handpicked collection delivers a diverse, emotional, and forward-thinking selection that drifts through shimmering currents, pulsating machinery, and moments of pure release.

Delenz & Zeitstill set the tone with “Place To Be”, a smooth and warm opener that invites the listener into a meditative microcosm. What starts as dreamy minimalism steadily unfolds into deep, shimmering depth. A sublime invitation to get lost in sound. Superpitcher takes us further into the mist with “Dream B”, an ethereal and cinematic dreamscape that floats between melancholy and magic. Its stretched textures and hypnotic pacing form a gentle passage into inner space.

The energy intensifies with Patrice Bäumel’s “Nat”, a sophisticated tension-builder with a subtle pulse and haunting atmospheres. Sound waves that breathe, evolve, and subtly command movement. Sawlin switches gears with “Der Jasager”, a deep technoid beast that hits with low-end pressure, modulated percussions, and gritty textures and spooky features. Raw, physical, and unrelenting.

A bright contrast comes from DC Salas and his track “Escapism.” Psychedelic, synth-heavy, and effortlessly groovy, it channels the playful side of electronic storytelling. It channels a trancy 90s flair with its vibrant energy, brilliant use of choir bits, and irresistible vibe that transports you back to a golden era. With Tal Fussman’s “Eyes”, we’re taken into euphoric territory. This stomper is a conversation between piano and strings, rising above crisp grooves, weaving emotion and momentum with finesse.

On the second half of the journey, legendary Ken Ishii teams up with Yuada to deliver “Split Second,” a bold, wild and crazy techno excursion full of mechanical grace and Japanese precision. An ode to organized chaos. Marcel Fengler’s “Aura” follows, powerful and deep, pushing air like an engine through tunnels of tension and light. The blend of rhythm and sentiments is a masterclass in functional elegance and states of mind.

Impérieux brings us “Kala,” a track both twisted and beautiful. Its detuned hypnotic melodies and skewed harmonics are unsettling in the best way while the unconventional rhythms cloak the entire track in a mysterious aura. It creaks and twists toward transcendence, underscored by primordial flute sounds. A fractured lullaby for the club. Joe Metzenmacher injects wildness and attitude into the mix with “Da Freak.” Fuzzy, distorted synths collide with a funky bassline, sharp guitar stabs, and mad bleep effects, bringing the raw groove and dancefloor chaos of a bygone funk era into a futuristic setting.

Joseph Capriati debuts on Cocoon with “Cosmopop” and surprises with an unexpected stylistic shift. Capriati explores a more melodic, emotionally driven sound. Subtle harmonies meet a warm, rolling groove. It’s a bold and personal statement, showing a new side of an artist who continues to evolve beyond expectations. To close, Matthias Schildger offers “Distorter,” a raw and emotional cut that leaves room to breathe while keeping the mind spinning. It begins with beautiful pads, before distorted kicks drop in, yet the track retains a certain tenderness, like the feeling of sitting at a tranquil, untouched nature spot, surrounded by the beauty of the world. RNT takes a trip south with some fresh modern takes on a pair of Colombian tropicalia classics from the 1970s! Sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta recorded some of the most beloved rare groove from Baranquilla’s early-70s period, and when Jaime Tuiran (Vagabundo Club Social) brought the project to label owners Aaron Dae and JKriv, they jumped at the opportunity to work with such rarefied source material.

On the A side, the mysterious newcomer producer Demi Riquisimo crafts a synth-laden tropical opus of a remix of Elia y Elizabeth’s signature hit 'Alegria' and the ever solid Parisian Yuksek works the tune into a concise and mid tempo disco stomper.

On the flip, Bostonian-come-Colombian BOSQ turns 'Soy Una Nube' into an uptempo soul banger, and Baranquilla natives Vagabundo Club Social lend their homegrown organic and clubby style to their mix of 'Alegria'. REVOLT hits double digits with a special release from Athenian underground veteran Other Reality—aka Alex Psaltakis—a figure deeply rooted in the rave culture of the ’90s. His journey began in the late ’80s via the Amiga demoscene, inspired by the raw energy of acid house and hardcore breakbeat. By the mid-’90s, he was DJing at raves, clubs, and open-air festivals, fueled by a passion for psychedelic trance, ambient, Goa, and experimental acid rock. His dedication to the underground has remained unwavering ever since—fed by records, synthesizers, and a deep love for sound exploration.

Still Thrill EP is a 4-track release shaped by a wide musical range, bringing together elements of Detroit techno, trance, house, Goa, ambient, and progressive. Backspin's next release brings Selective Response, a prominent figure in America's techno scene, to the forefront with his Inner Heaven EP. Known for his hard-hitting techno rollers, he brings his expertise and passion to Backspin, delivering a release that aligns seamlessly with the label's mission to rejuvenate the Hardgroove sound of the early 2000s, blending releases of legendary pioneers with those of fresh talents.



The EP opens with Hells Bells, a doomy track that encapsulates Selective Response's signature style, featuring relentless rhythms and an underworldly bell theme. The title track Inner Heaven follows, offering a, contrasting atmosphere, blending ethereal elements with driving beats to explore the balance between intensity and tranquility. On the flip side, Power Hungry delivers a potent mix of pulsating basslines, sharp percussion and industrial elements, embodying the raw energy that defines the Hardgroove genre. Majestic Fantasies, debut album from the duo Space Ghost & Teddy Bryant, is the second release on Space Ghost’s new record label, Peace World Records. Robsoul Recordings launches its 2025 campaign in style with the release of the ‘Make Love' EP, an impressive label debut from Italian producer and MPC virtuoso, Bress Underground.Following a strong 2024, which saw him release on GLB Dom, SNATCH!, Jackies Music, Special Grooves, and Slothboogie, as well as delivering unforgettable sets at iconic venues such as Sisyphos and NYC Downlow (Glastonbury), Bress Underground rolls out a sumptuous four-track selection of impeccable House music.“The EP was created by mixing a variety of production techniques, including the MPC, sampling, and Ableton Live,” explains Bress Underground, real name Andrea. “These were all projects I'd started and, for whatever reason, remained incomplete for some time. In an ever-expanding musical universe, Azymuth have long existed as a celestial giant, drawing countless artists, musicians and followers into their orbit. Marking fifty years since their 1975 debut album Azimuth, their new album Marca Passo proves that the band’s alchemic brew of Brazilian jazz-funk and cosmic samba soul remains as vital as ever, as the group honours the profound legacy of their departed founders.

Recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Marca Passo is the first full-length release since the passing of founding drummer Ivan "Mamão" Conti in 2023, following the earlier loss of keyboardist José Roberto Bertrami in 2012. Alex Malheiros, the sole remaining original member, sees his stewardship of the band’s musical legacy as his spiritual duty. He is joined by the equally devoted Kiko Continentino (Milton Nascimento, Djavan) on keyboards, who has been with the group since 2016, and new recruit Renato Massa (Marcos Valle, Ed Motta) on drums.

Yet since their earliest recorded music, Azymuth have always been far greater than the sum of their parts. The "three-man orchestra’s" unmistakable sound is rooted in Brazil's MPB studio scene of the 1970s and early 1980s—a time when artists blended traditional Brazilian rhythms with global jazz, rock, and emerging psychedelic and progressive elements. Marca Passo continues this legacy, seamlessly fusing Brazilian musical traditions with global influences while showcasing the exceptional musicianship that powers Azymuth's distinctive, multi-dimensional sound.

The album is produced by studio mastermind Daniel Maunick, responsible for Azymuth’s two previous studio albums, Fênix in 2016 and Aurora in 2011. Daniel’s credits also include albums by Marcos Valle, Sabrina Malheiros and Terry Callier. Azymuth also invited Daniel’s father, British jazz-funk royalty Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick, of Incognito, to play guitar on a new version of Azymuth’s eighties classic “Last Summer In Rio”, in tribute to the song’s composer, José Roberto Bertrami. Equally, “Samba Pro Mamao” is a new composition dedicated to Azymuth’s beloved original drummer, Ivan “Mamão” Conti.

Marking his first EP on Damian Lazarus’s revered Crosstown Rebels, OMRI. (pronounced “OMRI dot”) steps into the spotlight with ‘Nothing Wrong’—an infectious, immersive dive that traverses well beyond the dancefloor, laced with rhythm, tension, and soul. Dropping in June, the EP brings together a shimmering original, a hypnotic club-focused cut, and a peak-time remix from fast-rising US talent AYYBO.

Having already left his mark on the label with his remix of Jessica Brankka’s ‘Musk’, OMRI. now arrives with a statement of his own. The ‘Love Mix’ of ‘Nothing Wrong’ leads the release as a full-blown vocal anthem, layering captivating vocals over sweeping melodies and crisp percussion to create a powerful record destined for both club rooms and open-air settings. The ‘Club Mix’ takes a more experimental route—glitchy, stripped-back, and built for locked-in dancefloors and after-hours sessions.

AYYBO adds his own bold interpretation to the mix, injecting a darker, punchier energy that’s become synonymous with his releases on the likes of Experts Only, Insomniac, and HARD Recs. It’s a remix that captures the raw electricity of his sets while reimagining OMRI.’s original through a distinctly West Coast lens. An in-demand name, OMRI. has quickly carved a reputation for transcendental performances at some of the world’s most revered institutions. His sound, shaped across labels such as Hot Creations, Disco Halal, Haccabi House, and more recently through his own imprint Collecting Dots Records, blends deep psychedelia and hypnotic grooves with a forward-thinking approach, with past collaborations alongside Adam Ten, Moscoman, Yamagucci, and more. Set to feature regularly at Lazarus’ Hï Ibiza residency throughout the summer, expect standout sets that reflect his genre-blurring style and connection to the Crosstown Rebels sound as he serves up one of the label's most essential cuts of the year to open the summer in style.

Originally released in 1993, the ‘Brown Album‘ defied expectations and had a significant genre and cultural impact - showcasing the duo's scope and ambition. It was also met with widespread critical acclaim upon release, with NME awarding it 9/10 in their review, and it was chosen as one of Mixmag’s “best albums of all time”. The album's blend of diverse influences and its rejection of conventional norms helped to solidify Orbital's reputation as The Godfathers Of Rave, expanding the horizons of electronic music beyond local DJ nights.

Over 30 years on, London Records re-release this genre defying album – loaded with 23 additional tracks - rarities and previously unreleased material, including ‘Live From the Limelight, New York 1992’. Also includes a hardback book containing unseen photos, a track-by-track by Phil and Paul Hartnoll + interviews and essays on the making of the album by esteemed music journalist Andrew Harrison, a slipmat and flyer recreations from the era.

Lo U is back with four fresh tunes, blending UK garage, breakbeats, and deep electronic textures. The journey begins with 'Transitus', a fusion of UK garage rhythms and a heavy neurofunk bassline. Closing the A-side, 'The Green Planet' delivers a classic 2-step groove with a twisted breakdown. On the B-side, we find a newly refined version of the label's classic 'Platus Karma'. The record ends with 'Eresia', a live-recorded, studio-mixed tune exploring vast electronic landscapes and broken beats.

After the success of our first release, UR2wo’s Move Me (including Blame’s legendary Shadow Mix on vinyl) and continued support from big names in clubs and socials, Break-The-Future returns with a new signing: Nathan Cable. A veteran of progressive house, Nathan gained recognition as part of Tenth Chapter, with tracks like Wired on William Orbit’s Guerilla Records in the 90s, supported by DJs like Sasha, Pete Tong, and Dave Seaman. Now back under his own name, Nathan offers a modern blend of intelligent breaks, with a rich, emotional sound that fits alongside Ninja Tune's style. His new tracks are already getting support from John Digweed on Transitions Radio Show.

"Dame café", originally released on Discos Fuentes in 1965 to meet the tropical music demand of the time, features a mix of traditional rhythms like vallenato and cumbia, alongside more experimental beats. The vibrant musical scene of the 1960s in Colombia owes much to a group of versatile accordionists who blended genres such as cumbia, charanga, guaracha, vallenato, and Cuban-influenced rhythms. This group included notable figures like Andrés Landero, Aníbal Velásquez, Lisandro Meza, and Alfredo Gutiérrez, among others. A prime example of their diverse musical styles is the album "Dame café", released in November 1965, which features a mix of traditional rhythms like vallenato and cumbia, alongside more experimental beats such as paseaíto and pasaje. The album includes six previously released singles composed by José Castro, Policarpo Calle, and others. The album highlights the commercial strategy of Discos Fuentes, which often created short-lived studio bands to meet the tropical music demand of the time. Los Gavilanes de la Costa, the band behind "Dame café", had a brief existence but left a lasting impact, especially in Mexico's sonidero scene. The group's creation was driven by the high demand for tropical music in the 1960s, with many musicians adjusting to market trends. Most of the members, including composers Campillo and Castro, vanished from the scene, while others, like Calle and Zambrano, went on to have notable careers in music. Calle, in particular, became a cumbia legend, later settling in Mexico City. The album "Dame café" has gained cult status due to its rarity and the intrigue surrounding its origins. The album features a remarkable contribution from Colombian jazz legend Justo Almario, who, at just 16 years old, played tenor sax on the track 'Pues no da pa' más'. Over the years, pirate editions and elusive original copies have made it a highly sought-after collector's item. The album's lively sound, combining accordion melodies, deep bass, and vibrant guacharaca rhythms, continues to resonate in the tropical music scene.
