A new sub-division from Earth Dog Records, reissuing overlooked gems from the North American underground

The ‘90s to early 2000s saw US dance music experience a uniquely innovative gold rush. Records from that period narrate a burgeoning rave-obsessed sub culture, experimenting with the psychedelic sounds of tech house and progressive, with further flirtations with trance, breaks and beyond.

Many of those era’s artefacts have been increasingly difficult to find, and even rarer to hear out in the contexts they were constructed for. Relik exists as a means to preserve the legacy of this formative era, honouring the artists and labels that helped shape an ethos and sound unique to North America, and pivotal to the Earth Dog vision, while exposing this music to a new generation of listeners.

Each reissue will be released with permission and in collaboration with the original artists.

R001: The Vortex Archives

Volume one shines a light on Gainesville’s legendary Vortex Records.
Founded in 1996 by Boyd Westerman and Kyle Hogan, lifelong underground innovators (with Boyd remaining the undisputed king of the Discogs comment section). Vortex was home to a catalog of sounds that helped define a unique tech house and progressive flavoured corner of the North American underground.

Vortex Archives compiles four of our favourite cuts from the label’s discography, that for our money showcases their unmistakable sound best; a seamless fusion of progressive house, tech house, trance and breaks.

Nearly three decades on, these tracks (and the label from where they came) are as timeless and prescient than ever. We’re honored to certify their legacy by bringing them back into circulation.

A huge thank you to Boyd for trusting us with this release and helping to bring a sample of the Vortex catalog back into the world.

Endless respect to all the OGs who archived their catalogues, continued to make incredible music and subsequently paved the way for future generations. We wouldn’t be here without you.

*2026 repress - with new labels and small hole. NOTE NEW CATALOGUE NUMBER! One of Shella’s most popular reissues, “Rebel” by Jamaican Canadian roots maestro Rothadam is finally back in stock! Pressed with a small hole (as opposed to the 2017 re-issue with the jukebox punch-out). Supported by King Shiloh, Gilles Peterson and countless others, Rothadam’s “Rebel” is one of the deepest and most sought after roots 45s to ever come out of Canada. “Rebel” evokes Black Ark studio wizardry with Rothadam’s delicate yet defiant vocal, thunderous bass and a massive horn section. This release is a monster double-sider: Two different versions of “Rebel” were recorded in Toronto circa 1975, 76 by different producers (Sid Lovejoy at LMP and Ron Lewis at Half Moon) and backed by different bands. The “Rebel” message in Rothadam’s music is obvious, but more than anything the song is a call for peace and unity reflecting on his life in Trenchtown, Jamaica. Rothadam explains: “…..because where I was living , It’s hard to don’t get involved. It wasn’t an easy thing to just live and just be happy….. Hard life man, hard life…most of my friends when they were doing things that aren’t right…Not me. So in other words, I was born to be a strong man.” Rothadam passed away in 2026 but was delighted with the new audience his music had found. This latest reissue is dedicated to his eternal memory.

Crush is Delian League’s debut release on Causal Chain, presenting a tightly constructed yet
exploratory take on contemporary club music. The record recontextualizes a range of dance music traditions – electro, grime, UK bass, techno and dub – through a controlled, megamix-like approach that prioritizes flow and transformation over genre fidelity. Tracks shift between lopsided rhythms, club motifs and washed-out pads, creating a sense of constant motion and tension. Unified by themes of intimacy and unpredictability, Crush reflects an
outsider’s perspective on club music and gestures toward possibilities beyond current trends.

Vier Jahre brodelte es im Berliner Untergrund: Nach zwei DIY-Tape-Releases durchbrechen SEK die Flanke und präsentieren mit Wallensteins Garage ihr erstes Album auf Vinyl ein Debüt, das gleichermaßen Geschichtserzählung, Konzeptalbum und ausufernde Jam-Session ist. SEK benannt nach den Anfangsbuchstaben der Nachnamen ihrer Mitglieder - Paul-Willy Stoyan (Gavial, Jacke Schwarz), Georg Edert (Elder, Gaffa Ghandi) und Lucas Kazzer (Gaffa Ghandi, Borders Down) - vereint drei Musiker, die seit Jahren in der Berliner Underground-Szene aktiv sind. Ihre gemeinsame Sprache findet sich zwischen Improvisation, historischer Erzählung und druckvollem Rock. Was die drei verbindet, ist weniger ein gemeinsamer Stil als die Lust am Ausprobieren: ausufernde Proben, lange Improvisationen und die Suche nach Klanglandschaften, die ebenso sperrig wie eingängig sein können. Was 2022 während des pandemiebedingten Lockdowns mit stundenlangen Jams begann, entwickelte sich in den vergangenen vier Jahren zu einer eigenwilligen Mischung aus Psychedelic Rock, Krautrock und einer Prise Prog. Die Band selbst nennt diesen Sound augenzwinkernd HOR Historian Oriented Rock: Musik, die historische Stoffe nicht illustriert, sondern in Klang übersetzt. Die Inspiration für die Songs stammt aus dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg (16181648), insbesondere aus dem Leben des böhmischen Feldherrn Albrecht Wenzel Eusebius von Wallenstein und den Ereignissen rund um die Schlacht bei Lützen (1632). Das musikalische Arsenal ist ebenso vielseitig wie die erzählte Geschichte: verfuzzte Gitarren mit wabernden Delays treffen auf einen galoppierenden Bass und treibende Drums, getragen von träumerischen Keyboards. It’s Italian time! Sam Ruffillo is back. Sicilian producer doing smooth Balearic disco with Italian vocals. The direction is clear: Sam Ruffillo's music brings us back into the Italian riviera and the hippy days of Ibiza in the late 1970ies. Even his way of production is similar to how the early days disco producers in Italia used to work: No samples needed. Instead a few guest musicians come to jam over Sam's beats in his Italian studio space. Guitar, bass, percussions. Sam later makes the production and added keyboard solos and put together the vibes into what is this new EP.

The girl voice comes from NINFA. It’s the classic studio story: Ninfa is a singer and DJ and friend of Sam. She was hanging at the studio while Sam was finishing these tracks. She stated to sing along... the words came up spontaneously… so they decided to record her and finally decided to keep them. The vibe was too good. Why talk English if u can do it better: in Italian! :)

This is second for Toy Tonics after his Sport House EP from last year. Sam also appeared on the solo record of Joel Holmes on Toy Tonics. Together with Kapote Modica he co-produced and made the beats on that record. Now Sam is back with this pure Italian EP. Inclusive remixes by new German artists Gome and Italian Musemeci - known to many from his fabulous Italo-trance releases on Diynamic records.

Valentina Magaletti (Moin), Al Wootton and Susumu Mukai (Vanishing Twin) create expansive rhythmic music that moves freely through dub, trance, free improvisation and cinematic psychedelia. For Basilikum, the trio recorded a series of improvisations in the Swiss Alps and London. Built on the foundation of vintage drum manchines and instinctive interplay they created compositions where no stylistic borders apply.

Dub techniques meet ritual percussion, hypnotic pulse and vast Popol Vuh-esque landscapes. Drawing equally from popular music, experimental traditions and spontaneous interaction, the trio treats playing, recording, editing and transformation as part of the same creative act. Sounds emerge, dissolve and reappear in new forms, creating a music that is both deeply physical and endlessly open.

With no fixed boundaries and no allegiance to genre, their work embraces movement, texture and collective energy. The result is immersive, transportive music that shifts between meditation and propulsion, intimacy and scale, always evolving in the moment

"On the album, you’ll find a touch of the old and a great deal of new material. ‘Geen Genade’, ‘Wat Voel Je Nou’ and ‘Verloren’ still stand strong in pride of place, reminding us why we love De Ambassade so much in the first place. The opener and title track, ‘Duistre Kamers’ has a dark industrial vibe that is a perfect introduction of what is to come. Somehow ‘Zo Hoog Als De Bogen’ feels warm and cold simultaneously, it maintains an almost spooky tone; ‘Malefica’ in comparison sounds raw, uncut and almost upbeat. ‘Niet Van Mij’ is one of the reasons the album is so special. Its unexpected wavering synths create another contrast of the melancholic and the joyful in one, and the heavy percussion and echoing vocals tie it in with the rest. ‘Laatste Uur’ kicks you in the face, again with this industrial, moody feel and beautifully handled synths. The closing track ‘Wapengekletter’ is elegant, and a new favourite here. The dark vocals, haunting melody and cleverly tempoed percussion conclude the album wonderfully. Overall, De Ambassade has hit the nail on the head and produced this autumn’s must have Amsterdam album."

Introducing the science fiction realm of Mikrosector-50 and Mr. 8040 on breakthrough electro funk 12-inch, The Love Quadrant (2009), Hamill signed to R&S Records with the double 12-inch "prequel", The Pathway to Tiraquon6 (2011), setting the stage for debut-album proper Welcome to Mikrosector-50 (2013), where Prince-inspired funk and sleek '80s synth-pop soundtracked Mr. 8040's hazardous journey home via heartbreak and drugs. By Love Beyond the Intersect (2019), Hamill's vocoded opus turned introspective, pairing gentle krautrock influences with themes of love, redemption and self-discovery, mirroring Hamill's personal life, sobriety and creative renewal. Through lockdown Hamill retreated to the countryside around Belfast to reacquaint himself with his machines, experimenting with driving acid and trance, and playing guitar, culminating in a fuzzy shoegaze meets banging IDM sound. Relocating to Amsterdam in 2024 and setting up a new studio, Hamill wrote the third installment of Mr. 8040’s saga, bringing the storyline – and himself – back to earth.

Presenting under the new moniker, Jack Tiraquon, and releasing via his own label, Tiraquon Recordings, The World Overhead is the sound of Hamill removing the guise of Space Dimension Controller and concluding the space-themed concept to move forward as the cinematic hardware musician he's always been at the core.

Australian based imprint Paper-Cuts returns to physical in 2025 for their 10th release on the label. Celebrating the debut feature-length album from ‘Radart’ aka Dylan Batelic (Paper-Cuts, Sunflower Aquarium). Featuring an 8-track collection of ambient, downtempo, breaks and more, taken from selected works between 2022-2024.

Presented across two LPs cut at 45 rpm for maximum sonic depth and clarity, the release brings together the complete recordings from the legendary 1978 and 1979 sessions. The package includes a collector’s booklet with liner notes by acclaimed Austin music journalist Joe Nick Patoski, who attended a recording session for The Evil One in 1979. Alongside rare photographs and archival images from the collection of Roky’s then manager, Craig Luckin.

The third and final volume of remixes of 'Come Into My Life' by Nathalie Capello and Rose Lonegran is yet another doozy for lovers of emotive, meaningful deep house. Another bunch of heavyweights step up, starting with Mystic Bill who teases out a steamy-hot lead and builds a vibe around it. UK mainstay Jimpster plays with a dubby and bubbly low end, while Move D finds jazz-funk in the squelchy bass. Last of all, Underground Quality head DJ Jus-Ed steps up with his remix and explores more dusty textures, a slightly unsettling synth vibe and roomy, hypnotic grooves for late-night dancing.

Ian Pooley's 'Roller Skate Disco EP' Returns with Digital Debut and Vinyl Repress

Definitive Recordings brings back one of the label's early house gems with a remastered reissue of Ian Pooley's 'Roller Skate Disco EP'. Originally released in 1994, the EP returns for the first time as a digital release while also receiving a new vinyl repress. Alongside the original material, the reissue expands the package with the previously unreleased track 'Unity' and the Bandcamp-exclusive 'Never Give Up'.

For more than three decades, Ian Pooley has been one of house music's most respected producers and DJs. Emerging from Mainz, Germany, with a deep love for the sounds of Chicago and Detroit, he has built a career defined by subtle artistry, impeccable groove, and timeless musicality. His acclaimed albums 'Meridian' and 'Since Then', remixes for artists including Daft Punk and Jovonn, and releases on labels such as Plus 8, Innervisions, Rekids, and his own Pooledmusic have established him as one of the true masters of deep and soulful house music.

The title track, 'Roller Skate Disco', immediately captures the uplifting spirit of classic 90s house. Built around an infectious disco-inspired sample, funky guitar loops, and a warm, rolling house bassline, the track is complemented by a looping female vocal that gives it an unmistakable feel-good energy. 'Sure!' follows with a groove driven by crisp TR-909 drums, deep synth chords, and a playful TB-303 sequence, while a repeated female vocal ties the arrangement together into a hypnotic club workout.

'The Brückenkopf at 7 AM', named after the legendary club in Pooley's hometown of Mainz, moves into deeper territory. Dreamlike synth textures, a memorable deep house piano motif, and another signature 303 sequence combine to create one of the EP's most atmospheric moments. The release opens with Secret Serv1ce, an uncompromising statement driven by a commanding beat, layered percussion, and psychedelic textures that blur the boundary between reality and abstraction. Das Wiener Kollektiv TAKESHI'S CASHEW präsentiert sein neues, drittes Album "Planet Odyssey 64". Nach weltweiten Tourneen mit ihren ersten beiden Alben, gönnte sich die Band eine kreative Pause und kehrt nun mit neuem Sound zurück. Der bisherige analoge Cosmofunk der Band wurde um Electro-Einflüsse erweitert. Die sechs Musiker experimentierten mit alten Synthesizern, ließen sich von vintage Computerspielen inspirieren und schufen so ein neuartiges Klanguniversum. Ihre besondere Spielfreude brachte die Idee für eine Art Konzeptalbum namens "Planet Odyssey 64" hervor. Zahlreiche Bands kreisen nach ihrem zweiten oder dritten Album um Fragen der Standortbestimmung - auch Takeshi's Cashew mussten eine Weiche stellen bzw. wollten ein Konzept: nun treffen - back to the 90s - Mittelalterwelten auf Game Boy & Nintendo 64. Nicht nur 8-Bit-Games erzeugten ihre Atmosphären mit reduzierten Mitteln - auch die Wiener Instrumentalisten haben ihre Werkzeugkiste im Vergleich zum bisherigen Ouvre komprimiert. Di verwendeten Leitmelodien und Chiptunesounds gedenken Videospielikonen wie "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" oder "Pokémon Saphir Edition". Das rhythmische Amalgam hingegen formt ein Hybrid aus synthetischen Elementen und organischen Bausteinen. Präsent im Klangraum steht ein vorwärts kippendes Krautrock-Gerüst samt E-Bass und Schlagzeug. Die zweite Säule übernimmt ein monophoner Bass-Synthesizer namens Roland SH-101. “For Men Only” was released in America in June 1980. Jackson was shown on the front and back cover being fawned over by three attractive black male models. Musically and lyrically it was a concept album, like her previous LPs “Caught Up” (1974), Still Caught Up” (1975) and “Get It Out’cha System” (1978). The main theme was the battle of the sexes in and out of the bedroom with some tracks, especially on side one – ‘This Is Where I Came in’, ‘This Is It’, ‘If That Don’t Turn You On’ and ‘I Wish That I Could Hurt That Way Again’ – segueing into the next through Jackson’s spoken word segments. The album sounded like it could form the basis of stage play and was laced with wit and humour with Jackson, at one point, taking aim at out of work men “watching soap operas all day” and neglecting their chores around the house and in the bedroom. Every song was a gem, with Jackson in the finest vocal form of her career.
This album has not been available on vinyl for decades and Ace Records are delighted to rewax it, not only for Millie Jackson fans but a new generation, who are discovering that class never goes out of fashion.

The much-admired southern soul singer Eddie Giles’ final single for his local Shreveport label Murco, was a self-penned bluesy plodder called ‘Ain’t Gonna Worry No More’. Hiding on the flip was ‘Tingling’ a catchy, atmospheric song written by Murco executive Dick Martin and Jimmy Johnson whose pop group the Peermonts were label-mates. His subsequent release by the same production team appeared on the Silver Fox label so his management may have felt his time at Murco was up - the few pressings of ‘Tingling’ are now in the rare soul big price league.
Around the same time Eddie cut a version of a 40s Country song written by Fred Rose which leant itself to being an excellent mid-tempo soul number; though not released at the time. Despite its sparse instrumentation, it is a very good performance, now on vinyl for the first time.

Two years after their warmly received debut 'Save It For Later' and an extensive run of shows across some of Europe's biggest festivals and venues, the three-piece return with their most ambitious and immediate record yet.


Across eleven songs, BLUAI explore what it means to live somewhere between past and present. Conversations with family, friends, partners and people who resurface after years away become starting points for songs about childhood, love, grief, responsibility and the uncertainty of approaching thirty. Rather than a traditional coming-of-age record, 'The Way You Talk Reminds Me Of Home' is about figuring things out while you are already in the middle of them.


Produced by Isabel Gracefield (Adele, Dua Lipa, PJ Harvey, Radiohead...) and recorded at London's legendary RAK Studios, the album was made with a deliberately instinctive approach.

Radiant, spring-loaded and alive with movement, Lab Boogie sees Jupiter’s Depth go full dancefloor as Vienna-based Nizar Sarakbi makes his first appearance on the label.

The A-side cuts a brighter path through house, with rolling low-end, dubby flashes and percussion flickering from every angle. Across the B-side, the groove turns techier and the mood slightly darker, before Bella Sarris closes the record with a warped, off-centre take on “Angel Dust”.

Ukrainian-born and now based in Vienna, Nizar follows releases on Outdom and Naked Groove Records, including the recent *Truth Seekers* EP alongside COZi. The record is already picking up support from label favourites Julian Anthony, Christopher Ledger, Roza Terenzi, Eoin DJ and Jennifer Cardini.

Minimalista Records' first vinyl does not choose one face: it chooses four. Two MURI collaborations (with C.I.S.C.O and C4STRO), a track from Martim Tonic, and the production debut of Little Freak, the new alias of Alex Mendes, form an Assemblage that favours diversity over uniformity.
