Detroit music legend, Marcus Malone and Dan Smith of The Noisettes reveal their awesome new collaborative long player, ‘Interstate 75’, on Ramrock Red Records, loaded with 60’s style Rhythm and Blues, old school Soul and back to the future Funk. Auch auf dem vierten Album von Motor!k konzentriert sich die belgischen Avant-garde Künstler Joeri Dobbeleir (Gitarre/ Synthies), Dirk Ivens (Guitar/FX) und Dries D‘Hollander (Drums) auf das Wesentliche: Hypnotische Bassläufe, rhythmusgebende Drums und repetitive Gitarrenschleifen sind die Essenz, aus der psychedelische Retro-Träume entstehen. Erneut ohne Gesang setzen Motor!k auf ihren schon traditionellen sechs Tracks eine Dynamik frei, die komplett aus dem temporeichen Zusammenspiel der drei Protagonisten erwächst und das Gefühl einer spontanen Jamsession aufkommen lässt. Pulsierende Krautrock-Vibes at its best!

Heralding the release of Memoirs of Hi-Tech Jazz, the forthcoming album by Detroit-born-and-based artist, Waajeed, the 12” features further examinations of the track’s motifs by the vaunted Detroit collective, Underground Resistance, Zambian producer SHE Spells Doom, and a special reimagining by Waajeed himself featuring live drums.

Alongside the LP version the three remixes further explore the links between Techno and Jazz, styles both founded on African traditions that make commentary on the present but are always oriented to potential hereafter.

On the People Mover Remix, Waajeed enlists the talents of Zo!, Tall Black Guy, Michele Manzo, and more to explore one extreme of the track’s musical heritage. Syncopated drums, driven by a full and bright snare drum, firmly place this version in the sphere of contemporary Jazz emanating from Detroit and cities across the US.

Coming from an album inspired by revolutionary efforts against oppression in Detroit and in Black locales around the world it is entirely fitting that Underground Resistance should provide their take on Motor City Madness. UR’s Mike Banks follows the lead of the original’s melange of genres. By thickening the bassline, peppering the mix with extra brass from the Mad Brass Horn Section, and adding strings courtesy of Six Mile Strings, UR further explore the dynamic intersection of music, history, and geography.

SHE Spells Doom closes the remix package with his second release on Tresor after his contribution to 2021’s Tresor30 compilation. The Zambian artist trims Motor City Madness down to the bones of the brass section and infuses them with a gqom beat, simultaneously referring to Jazz and Techno’s deepest roots in Africa, as well as suggesting where they might be headed in the future.

South Street delve into the The Sound Of Detroit from one of its unsung heroes, reissuing Amp Fiddler's 'Motor City Booty' LP on Yellow & Blue vinyl respectively. Coming straight off the D Funk assembly line, it's a full on dance floor affair from Motown to P-Funk, Techno and Neo Soul.

This 12 track album produced by Amp Fiddler & Yam Who? includes the massive 'Soul Fly' sounding like a Mark Ronson production had he been hanging out with George Clinton's Parlet followed by the bonafide P-Funk anthem 'Steppin' both featuring the stunning vocals by the Dames Brown girls.

Amp Fiddler is credited for taking both a young J Dilla and also Q-Tip under his wing teaching them his Akai MPC techniques, setting the path for some of Hip Hop's finest recordings which have defined the shape of things to come.

His musical collaborations & current duties include: Moodymann's musical maestro, keyboard wizard for Theo Parrish's live band, a longstanding Funkadelic member, co-writer for Sly & Robbie, Prince, Maxwell, Jamiroquai & Seal to name a few.

The Maltese machine funk specialist himself Keith Farrugia is back once more with yet more of his impeccable electro business as Sound Synthesis. This time the prolific producer is shoring up on Burnski's Infiltrate label with four cool and deadly cuts which build on his previous drops for 20:20 Vision, Furthur Electronix, Orbital Mechanics and more besides. From the nervy sci-fi flex of 'Motor Space Maps' to the playful fun n' games of 'Back In Time', Farrugia knows exactly what he's doing within the electro blueprint, and his tracks are reliably punchy warm - a true master at work.

Donald Byrd and Pepper Adams—and their ace band, including Kenny Burrell, Tommy Flanagan & Paul Chambers—deliver what is one of the finest performances of “Stardust” you’ll ever hear on this album. And that’s just the first track; this is Donald Byrd hitting his first peak, and summoning a band behind him that was formidable, and deft.

Jared Wilson is of a new Detroit lilt. He has not been eclipsed by the gravitas that comes with the Motor City, instead he uses it as a bedrock from which to bring forth his own take on techno. Wilson, armed with his analogue arsenal, forces a new rawness; an unashamed baring of teeth to those who think that Detroit has had its day

RAWAX welcomes Thomas barnett to the family! It was more than about time to invite this great artists to our label. We are very happy to present you a great treasure from the past back on vinyl. It's the "Foundation Series Volume One". Originally released in 1997 on Visillusion Records, Detroit.

We have the honour to welcome the German based Johannes Volk. Johannes debuts on Eternal Friction Records with a 4 track EP called "Mutable Motor Units". The result is a powerful EP, that clearly demonstrates Johannes Volk unique and personal approach to techno.

"Mutable Motor Units" is filled with powerful grooves, smooth leads and uplifting rhythms. We're very happy to welcome Johannes Volk to Eternal Friction Records. Who knows what the future will bring us. Hopefully these banging tunes can destroy some dancefloors.

1515 Broadway Revisited is a sparkling, chord-heavy track featuring local vocalist Larry Love, made for peak-time play.

Javonntte is up on remix duties with a dark groaning version for the true afterhours feel. On the flipside, 'Head Up' pays tribute to the late queen of soul with a classic house vibe that feels right at any time, but an ending that'll keep you saving it for just the right moment.
