Excessive Mobility, the second long player from the Norwegian industrial/ avant garde cult-band Munch (released 1990) was a document of movement further into their own world of droning soundscapes and theatrical approach, but also showed a more contemporary jazz detailed universe that was already lurking under the surface. Satyricon & Munch zeigt zwei der bekanntesten norwegischen Künstler, Edvard Munch und SATYRICON, vereint in einem bahnbrechenden Kunstwerk, das die Grenzen zwischen Hochkultur und Black Metal Musik zerfließen lässt. Das 56-minütige Instrumentalwerk, kreiert von SATYRICON-Mastermind Satyr, ist als musikalisches Werk konzipiert unterwirft sich keinen stilistischen Grenzen und geht weit über jegliche Genrekonvention hinaus.

Auch wenn das Stück für die Kunstausstellung Satyricon & Munch geschrieben wurde, hat es eindeutig die emotionale Tiefe, um in jeder Umgebung außerhalb des Ausstellungsraums seine Wirkung zu entfalten.

Die neue, einzigartige und von Kritikern und Fans hochgelobte Kunstausstellung war bis zum 28.08.2022 im MUNCH-Museum in Oslo zu sehen.

Channeling his honed sample craft towards the ominous portent of modern times, Romare returns with his fifth album Oblivion, with the previous 3 out of 4 LP's appearing on Ninja Tune. Across a suite of downtempo, broken beat, bubbling grooves and brooding reveries Archie Fairhurst threads a narrative that wrestles with the big questions of the present moment — the tipping points of the planet and technology, the fight for social justice and the power structures that govern our existence. While his trademark source material continues to cast a long line back through recorded history, this is Romare at his most contextual.

Nothing is placed by accident. 'Machines' hums its throbbing 4/4 pulse along to a German language recital of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's 'Blessed Longing' — an enduring reflection on the human condition that rings true from way back in the 19th Century when it was written. 'Computer Love' slinks into a sumptuous trip-hop lull laced with sci-fi flourishes sculpted from samples of old computer documentaries — a bittersweet romantic backdrop to our complicated situationship with the devices in our lives. 'Take Us' goes one step further on its hard-stepping boom-bap strut as a subtle tale of possession by screens unfolds around Romare's signature strain of technicolour mutant funk.

There is space for optimism in the message on Oblivion as well — the strength of the suffragettes as a benchmark for social justice and activism amidst the speakeasy slink of ‘Deeds, Not Words', and spring-loaded acid house joint 'Change' pointing to the need for positive action in the face of imminent calamity.

The artwork for the album follows Fairhurst's thought process, drawing on Edvard Munch's iconic 'The Scream' along with Philippe Halsman and Salvador Dali’s ‘Voluptuous Death’ to help render the ideas of the album visually.

The wild ride of Oblivion races towards a final beguiling opiate on 'The Last Lullaby' — the perfect sedative after the rush of information and emotion that comes with a full-length trip through Romare's vivid, uniquely creative world of sound.

Die 1969 in München gegründete Band Embryo (feat. Mishra) verbindet auf diesem Album Krautrock, Jazz, freie Improvisation sowie europäische und indische Musikelemente. Seit 2015 wird das Kollektiv von Marja Burchard weitergeführt. Die Aufnahmen entstanden 2023 im Minga Records Studio in München und dokumentieren die langjährige Zusammenarbeit mit den indischen Musikern Deobrat Mishra (Sitar, Gesang) und Prashant Mishra (Tabla). Ergänzt wird das Album durch Gastbeiträge von Niko Schabel, Dr. Chandreyee Maitra und Dattatreya Desai. Die Besetzung umfasst Marja Burchard (Vibraphon), Maasl Maier (Bass, Flöte), Jakob Thun (Schlagzeug) sowie Deobrat und Prashant Mishra.

In the seclusion of a house in the Bavarian Forest, something unfolded that felt less like a conventional album production and more like an internal process of condensation. This house wasn’t a studio - it was a retreat. Its 1960s-inspired interiors, creaking wooden stairs, and crackling fireplace shaped the sound of Carl Gari as much as the instruments themselves. Though the house no longer exists, its atmosphere remains present in the recordings.


The music of Carl Gari - Jonas Yamer, Till Funke, and Jonas Friedlich - resists easy categorization, a trait that continues on this monumental new album. From the friction between electronic music and guitar textures, the trio forges a distinctive, idiosyncratic sound. Distorted electric guitars and pulsating basslines intertwine with analog drum machines, tape delays, and intricate effect chains, creating music that is raw, organic, and psychedelic. A new element on the album is the trio’s first use of vocals: Jonas Yamer, usually on bass, raises his voice in a punk-tinged, invented language that hints rather than narrates, unsettling more than it explains.


The guest artists do not merely decorate the sound - they alter its very structure at critical points. Polygonia contributes layered vocals that mesh seamlessly with the album’s technoid architecture. Will Brooks of Dälek delivers a dark rap feature on ‘Poison Shyness (Anti-Social)’, his words carving the sonic space with precision. Coby Sey adds introspective vocals that hover between experimentation and restraint on ‘Inner Link’. New York rap pioneer Sensational introduces a deliberately rough, individual counterpoint on ‘Disco Lights’, while the German percussionist Simon Popp drives the album forward with an uncompromising drum performance that insists rather than accompanies on ‘Zeitesser’.


The cover photographs, taken by Jonas Yamer, project images of corridors onto paintings located in the now demolished house where the album was recorded. Visually, this reflects a key motif of the album: spaces exist only as overlays and echoes - not mystical ghosts, but traces of a place that has physically vanished.

In the early eighties, Michael Heinkel was one of those quiet electronic musicians hardly anyone knew — at least outside of Munich. While machine rhythms were being perfected in Düsseldorf, dilettantism was elevated into an art form in Hamburg and West Berlin was soundtracking its own feverish coldness, Munich seemed to be a place where, apparently, nothing was happening. Or almost nothing. Because beneath the radar, far removed from the grand narratives of those years, Michael Heinkel was already creating his own electronic cosmos — stripped-down, idiosyncratic and often ahead of its time. Electronic minimalist music, born somewhere between a home studio, nightlife and the longing for a future that could only just be imagined back then. But the recordings disappeared into drawers, onto cassettes and tape reels. For decades, they remained a secret shared only among friends, insiders and a handful of close companions. It was only 45 years later that Andreas Dorau and Ralf Hertwig (Palais Schaumburg) — two defining figures of that early avant-garde — insisted that the recordings finally be made accessible. Not as an exercise in nostalgia, but as the overdue release of a missing piece in the history of German electronic music. This music is not a nostalgic retrospective. Ten years ago, in a sharehouse on Chapel Street, four 20-year-olds with zero expectations wrote and recorded an EP in a single afternoon. Those six blistering minutes of music became Giddy Up. An hour later, Amyl and The Sniffers had a name, a Bandcamp upload, and the beginnings of a legacy.
Following a year of backyard gigs, playing for friends and partying across Melbourne's sticky carpet music scene, the band released their iconic second EP Big Attraction in 2017.
Now, to celebrate a decade of raw power and reckless spirit, Giddy Up/Big Attraction returns in a definitive 10th anniversary 12-inch vinyl edition — fully remastered for maximum punch.

Münchenbuchsee, a suburb of Bern, Switzerland. Stephan Eicher is the youngest of three children. His father, a radio and TV repairman, is also a jazz violinist and a sound tinkerer in his spare time. In the family home's converted fallout shelter turned studio, Mr. Eicher experiments with homemade sequencers, tortures handcrafted drum machines, and abuses reel-to-reel tape recorders—all under the fascinated gaze of young Stephan.

The boy quickly develops a musical curiosity, exploring sound through various experiments and wanderings. Alongside his younger brother Martin, Stephan crafts audio plays on a homemade multi-track recorder (essentially several cassette decks hooked together!), which they write, record, add sound effects to, and perform for family and friends. Just a couple of nice kids, really...

Then comes 1972, and Lou Reed's Transformer album changes everything for the Eicher kids. For 13-year-old Stephan, it's a revelation—especially "Vicious", the opening track, which he plays on repeat for months. He convinces his father to buy him an electric guitar. Not stopping there, his father also builds him a tube amp using an old radio.

Then comes adolescence. A rough one. Stephan leaves home at 16 and moves to Zurich. With obvious artistic talent, he persuades his art teacher to help him get into F+F, a radical, alternative art school—despite his young age. Accepted, he starts learning video techniques, determined to become a filmmaker.

At F+F, Stephan organizes Dada-style happenings and concerts with a group of friends known as the Noise Boys. Among them: one of his teachers on bass, Veit Stauffer on drums (who would later found ReR/Recommended Records), his girlfriend Sacha on vocals, and Stephan on guitar. In one of their early performances, they release a remote-controlled mouse covered in dull razor blades into the audience to create panic and chaos. Keeping with this aggressive, confrontational spirit, they once played a concert while wearing headphones blasting Tristan and Isolde, trying to perform their own songs simultaneously—to maximize the cacophony. The goal was always the same: clear the room.

Their “songs,” if you can call them that, followed suit. Take "Hungeriges Afrika", for instance—performed entirely with power drills and some drum feedback.

To make ends meet, Stephan returns to Bern on weekends to work as a waiter at the Spex Club, the city’s main punk venue. On September 16, 1980, during a show by proto-electro group Starter, the police raid the club and arrest everyone. Stephan, who manages to avoid arrest, seizes the opportunity to “borrow” Starter’s gear left behind. He suddenly finds himself in possession of a Roland Promars synth, a Korg MS20, and a gorgeous CR78 drum machine, which he runs through a Big Muff distortion pedal to get that perfect gritty sound.

He then sets out to reinterpret some Noise Boys tracks, reworking them during impromptu sessions recorded on a dictaphone (yes, a dictaphone—now the lo-fi sound makes more sense, doesn’t it?). He ironically titles the resulting cassette "Stephan Eicher spielt Noise Boys" ("Stephan Eicher plays Noise Boys"). This gem features seven tracks, which are the ones reissued here.

Back in Zurich, he visits his friends Andrew Moore and Robert Vogel, who have a DIY cassette duplication setup. They make 25 copies of Stephan Eicher spielt Noise Boys for Stephan and his friends. Robert encourages him to visit Urs Steiger of Off Course Records and play him the tape.

Without much hope, Stephan shows up at Urs’s office. But Urs is instantly hooked and suggests releasing a 7” single. Due to space constraints, they reluctantly drop two of the seven tracks ("Hungeriges Afrika" and "One Second"). As for the musical score featured on the cover—it was randomly chosen and remains a mystery to this day. Calling all music theory nerds!

The 7-inch is pressed in 750 copies and released in the first week of December 1980—a date Stephan remembers well, as it’s the same week John Lennon was killed. Smartly, Urs sends a promo copy to François Murner, Switzerland’s answer to John Peel, who hosts a show on alternative station Sounds. Murner falls in love with the record and starts giving it airtime. To Stephan’s surprise, sales follow—and people actually seem interested in his music.

Even this modest underground success scares Stephan a bit. He stops making music for a year and moves to Bologna, where he works as a programmer at Radio Città, a feminist radio station.

Meanwhile, Stephan’s younger brother Martin, who’s also involved in the punk scene, joins the band Glueams as a singer and guitarist. Glueams, named after the fanzine run by two of its members (drummer Marco Repetto and bassist GT), eventually rebrands as Grauzone. Stephan is invited to their shows to project hacked Super 8 visuals live on stage.

Urs Steiger, now working on a compilation titled Swiss Wave – The Album, asks Grauzone to contribute alongside bands like Liliput, Jack and the Rippers, The Sick, and Ladyshave (Fall 1980).

For the album, Martin tasks Stephan with producing their recording sessions. Under Stephan's artistic direction, two tracks emerge: "Raum" and "Eisbär". During "Eisbär", Martin plays a minimalist bass line borrowed from post-punk band The Feelies (just an open string). Drummer Marco Repetto struggles to keep time. Later that evening, unhappy with the takes, Stephan builds a four-bar drum loop from a ¼-inch tape and uses it instead of the flawed original. He then adds bleepy synths and wind sounds to complete the track’s icy vibe before handing it over to Urs.

The Swiss Wave – The Album compilation is released quietly at first, but things snowball thanks to "Eisbär", which eventually becomes a smash hit—selling over 600,000 singles.

Meanwhile, Stephan plays in a rockabilly band called SMUV (named after Switzerland’s social security agency) and begins producing artists, including the debut album of Starter (1981), which includes a more pop-oriented version of "Minijupe".

By early 1982, Stephan starts spending time with the post-punk girl band Liliput (formerly Kleenex). They’re older than him, and he happily drives them around in his Renault Major, acting as their roadie.

By 1983, Grauzone—signed to the major label EMI, which turned out to be a misstep—is falling apart. Stephan begins to pivot toward a more mainstream pop sound with his debut solo album Les Chansons Bleues.

But that... is already another story.

John Ghost (Ghent, Belgium) is the sextet led by guitarist/composer Jo De Geest. As a group, they draw influences from jazz, rock, and contemporary classical music. Minimalism, electronics, and an overall cinematic quality characterize their instrumental sound. The ensemble's sound can be described as a symbiosis of Hidden Orchestra, Portico Quartet, and James Holden.



After the critically acclaimed “Airships Are Organisms” (4-star reviews in The Guardian and Financial Times, as well as airplay on BBC 6 and Worldwide FM) John Ghost is back with “Thin Air . Mirror Land”, to be released on October 6 via Sdban Ultra, the label of ECHT!, Black Flower, Glass Museum, STUFF. and more.



For this album, they continued their fruitful collaboration with legendary producer Jørgen Træen, known for his work with Jaga Jazzist, Electric Eye, Kaizers Orchestra, and numerous projects on the Hubro Record Label. The result is an album with a slightly more somber tone, focussing on a broader range of instruments and an emphasis on percussive elements."Thin Air . Mirror Land" unfolds as an aesthetic refuge in stormy times. It is a musical urge for introspection in a chaotic reality, and a longing to reconnect with a natural environment.



During the creative process, Jo drew inspiration from the music of artists such as Hans Zimmer, György Ligeti, Magma, The Residents, Disasterpeace, James Holden & The Animal Spirits, Do Make Say Think, William Basinski, and Jóhann Jóhannsson. The album title "Thin Air . Mirror Land" and the song titles are driven by a fascination with the artwork of Edvard Munch. Jo found inspiration in Munch's painting "The Storm" (1893) as a catalyst for the writing process, exploring a dystopian backdrop and the intriguing interplay between comfort and unrest. Heavily inspired by the music, Jaak De Digitale created the gloomy artwork for the album.



Members of the band are Jo De Geest (Endlingr), Rob Banken (Rapidman, HAST), Wim Segers (Compro Oro, PAARD.), Karel Ceulenaere (Black Flower), Lieven Van Pée (Echoes of Zoo, De Beren Gieren) and Elias Devoldere (Nordmann, Elias) who went through a thoughtful studio process, with the result being a conceptual and slightly dystopian atmosphere.

STANDARD 2LP VINYL EDITION - LIMITIERT Geboren 1970 in Tokio, verbrachte Jonathan Meese seine frühe Kindheit in Japan, und kam mit drei Jahren 1973 gemeinsam mit seiner Mutter zurück nach Deutschland. Als Kind sprach er nur japanisch und englisch. 1995-1998 Studium an der HfbK in Hamburg, 1998 Durchbruch als bildender Künstler auf der Berlin Biennale. In seinen Gemälden, Performances und Aktionen thematisiert Meese immer wieder die Rolle Deutschlands und deutsche Mythen. Eine ursprünglich beauftragte Meese-Inszenierung des ûParsifalë 2016 in Bayreuth wurde 2014 wegen angeblicher Unfinanzierbarkeit gekündigt. Der Münchener Techno- und House-Produzent Hell ist seit zwei Jahrzehnten ein Bewunderer Meeses. Als Hell vor zwei Jahren bei Jonathan Meese anfragte, ob dieser das Cover für Hells neues, kürzlich erschienenes Album ûHouse Music Boxë gestalten wolle, sagte dieser sofort zu. Die Wertschätzung entpuppte sich als gegenseitig. Man verabredete eine experimentelle Studiosession, um auszuloten, ob die polarisierenden Sprachperformances von Jonathan Meese in Verbindung mit Musik von Hell eine eigene Qualität entwickeln würden. 2019 nahmen Hell und Meese zum ersten Mal gemeinsam auf. Meese steuerte Textideen auf Papier bei, Hell hatte Instrumentals vorbereitet, die sowohl Hells stilistische Interessen, als auch Meeses musikalische Vorbilder - von DAF über Sisters of Mercy bis hin zu Kraftwerk - berücksichtigten. Hell: ûMir wurde in vielen gemeinsamen Gesprächen klar, wie musikaffin er eigentlich ist und wie viel unterschiedliche Musik er kennt. Und vor allem: Wie sehr die Musik ihm auch in seiner Kunst als Inspirationsquelle dient.ë Die Sessions - insgesamt drei, davon zwei gemeinsam mit Meeses 91-jähriger Mutter Brigitte - fanden im Trixx-Studio am Berliner Moritzplatz statt. Meese assoziierte Freestyle über Beats und Loops von Hell. Hell: ûIch bewundere Jonathan Meese nicht zuletzt als performativen Künstler - und gerade auch seinen stimmlichen Vortrag. Im Studio sang, sprach oder flüsterte er dann seine improvisierten Texte über die Tracks, die ich vorbereitet hatte.

Manchmal reicht ein Sommer, um zu zeigen, wohin die Reise geht. Fruchtiger Beigeschmack haben ihren nicht nur angekündigt, sie bespielen ihn gerade und begeistern dabei: 300.000 Streams in nur acht Wochen, zehntausende neue Fans auf den sozialen Netzwerken, ein ausverkauftes Releasekonzert, eine Zusatzshow mit Milla im September, die ebenfalls fast ausverkauft ist, ein Support-Slot vor 6.000 Menschen bei ZAZ in München, viele Festivals - und mittendrin "Löschzug", den die TAZ zum "linken Sommerhit des Jahres" erklärt hat. Auf den Socials wird das Trio gerade zur Band, über die man spricht, bevor man sie überhaupt gehört hat. Jetzt kommt das Debüt, das all das einfängt: "Fast schon gut ist nicht schlecht" - die Debüt-EP von Fruchtiger Beigeschmack, erscheint bei superpolrecords. Ein Titel mit Understatement, der genau das Gegenteil meint. Fünf Songs, die Indie-Songwriting und Jazz-Offenheit zusammenbringen, ohne sich in Genreschubladen zu verlieren. Die wirbelnde Frontfrau Milena vorne, mit Texten, die nicht ausweichen und längst nicht nur der GenZ aus dem Herzen sprechen. Levi und Felix, die dem Ganzen Raum und Reibung geben, vorgetragen mit unbändiger Spielfreude, die sowohl auf Platte, aber vor allem live zündet. Das ist keine Band, die auf den Durchbruch wartet - sie ist bereits mittendrin, und die Zahlen sprechen für sich: Hunderttausende Streams, ausverkaufte Shows, ein Sommerhit im Feuilleton. Manonmars’ 3rd album sees him at his most amorphous and psychedelic, at points sharper and laser focused, and at others more blurred and impressionistic than his previous records. Many of the core players remain the same, all of the production is once again handled by O$VMV$M (the duo of Neek and Amos Childs of Jabu) while Paulina Korobkiewicz (also of Young Echo) makes a return handling both the album’s cover artwork and contributing a series of diaristic field recordings and voice notes.

‘The project references movies, cartoons, fictional characters and video games, among other things. The album title is open to interpretation but all of these elements are forms of visual entertainment which have their own unique ability to transcend things like language barriers and cultural divides. The visual element is key because those details bridge the gap on a communicative level.’ - Manonmars

The album blends abstract, blurred braggadocio with more immediate personal details such as on ‘Volcanic Shield’ a posse cut of sorts featuring Bristol improv luminary Dali de Saint Paul and Franco Franco (½ of cyborg rap duo Kinlaw & Franco Franco) - where Mars recalls;

The beat fades away to leave one of Korobkiewicz’s recordings of Mars’ mum talking about her life in London in the 80s, spending her money on reggae records as an ambient chord fades in like an echo of a jungle intro – stretching out as a link between generations of UK music.

The production by and large is brighter and more kinetic than earlier Manonmars records – with O$VMV$M drawing on everything from modern underground rap and drill through to jazz and acid ambient passages.

London is also a central character here, bustling and constantly shifting, either when bleeding in through field recordings, or as an ever-present backdrop in the lyrics;

‘I've always considered London my home, despite spending some time in the South West of England too. My mum had been living in London for 25 years (...) That was a pretty big deal in some ways because it removed us from multicultural society during the period which overlapped with my teenage years. (...) I never got used to how quiet it was in the countryside (...) Bristol was the closest city to where we lived and it was through travelling there and making connections that I became involved in making music and playing gigs.’ - Manonmars

Mars’ practice as a painter (under his given name Jack Martyn Richardson) and photographer also loom heavy over the album, he cites Paul Verhoeven, Abdul Mati Klariwein and H.R Giger as influences – as well as Miles Davis, Drakeo the Ruler and DJ Rashad.

As with much of Richardson’s work the raps at times feel blurred to a point of almost inscrutability, creating a distance between the audience and himself. A process that ties into his visual work and the way he experiences the world as mainly abstract colour without his glasses. He explores this further in an ongoing visual collaboration with Korobkiewicz, ‘Fun and Games’ which serves as a visual archive of one of London's largest and oldest travelling fairgrounds.

‘I was diagnosed with very severe short-sightedness at the age of seven. I remember my early formative years as visually blurred. Some of my photography reflects this experience of partial vision and uncertainty, referencing memory and perception rather than fixed representation.’

Manonmars’ first public outing as a rapper was at a Young Echo radio event, broadcast shambolically from a practice room just off Jamaica street, Bristol in 2011, as much as things have moved on both stylistically and in terms of focus - strong links back to the city remain a key foundation throughout the collaborations and guest appearances.

‘I have no problem with being an outsider looking in. One of the things I enjoy about London is the anonymity (...) it's easy to be a stranger here when so much is happening. I feel like thats more valuable than people may realise.’

Captain Asshole, ein Name, der leicht im Gedächtnis bleibt. Aber zum Glück sind die Songs besser als der Bandname der Münchener vermuten lässt. Punkrock mit melodischen Gitarren und vielen Mitsing-Momenten, deutlich inspiriert von Bands wie The Copyrights, Dear Landlord und Latterman.

Weiß-blaues Halstuch, das Dorf im Rücken, die große Bühne vor der Brust: TREAM hat in den vergangenen Jahren aus einer Welt, die lange eher nach Bierzelt, A-Klasse-Fußball und letzter Zigarette am
Weiher klang, eines der eigenständigsten Erfolgsmodelle der deutschen Poplandschaft gebaut. Der 27-
Jährige aus Büchelkühn bei Schwandorf verbindet HipHop, Pop und modernen Schlager zu einem Sound,
der genauso drückt wie er mitsingtauglich ist, genauso größenwahnsinnig wie bodenständig und genauso
laut wie herzlich. Oder, wie TREAM selbst es sagt: »Meine Musik klingt nach Leben«. Genau das ist auch
die Überschrift über seinem neuen Album »STAMMTISCHPAROLEN«.
Dass TREAM längst mehr ist als ein Phänomen mit Kultstatus, zeigt sein Weg der letzten Jahre ziemlich
eindeutig. Nach der restlos ausverkauften »Biergarnitour 2024«, einer Arena-Tour 2025 mit über 130.000
verkauften Tickets und drei Abenden hintereinander in der Münchner Olympiahalle geht es im Sommer
2026 auf die nächste Stufe: die erste große Open-Air-Tour. Dazu kommt in diesem Jahr seine Teilnahme
bei »Sing meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert«. Das alles wirkt bei TREAM nicht wie der glattgebügelte
Aufstieg eines Künstlers, der sich für den Mainstream passend gemacht hat, sondern eher wie das konsequente Durchziehen einer eigenen Vision.
Genau deshalb passt auch der Albumtitel so gut. »STAMMTISCHPAROLEN« ist nicht politisch gemeint,
sondern ein selbstbewusstes Etikett für 15 Songs, die TREAMs eigenes Lebensgefühl bündeln: Provokation,
Herz, Heimweg, Heimweh, Abriss, Eskalation, Freundschaft, Sehnsucht und ein Humor, der nur funktioniert, wenn einer weiß, wo er herkommt. Das Album spielt mit bayerischen Bildern, ohne darin stecken zu
bleiben, und macht aus Klischees Gegenwart.
Schon der Opener »BAYERN GO HIGH (INTRO)« macht klar, dass hier niemand langsam anlaufen will:
808s drücken, Hörner dröhnen, irgendwo zwischen US-Rap-Sound und bayerischer Folklore wird sofort der
Claim abgesteckt. »DIE KENN ICH NICHT« zieht als vergnügter Spießrutenlauf weiter, »SAUNAKONTAKT« erzählt mit Uptempo-Beats den Wahnsinn einer Begegnung, und »HASENJAGD« liefert eine
Hymne, die klingt, als würde die Nacht schon beim Intro eskalieren.
Auch in den Kollabos zeigt sich die Erweiterung seiner Welt: »EISENBAHN« mit Bausa, »APRES SKI«
mit Gzuz oder »K2« feat. Blümchen verbinden scheinbar Gegensätzliches und funktionieren genau deshalb.
Dass »STAMMTISCHPAROLEN« mehr kann als Abriss, zeigen die ruhigeren Momente: »WUNSCH FREI«
erzählt von den Schattenseiten eines Lebens, das von außen nach Dauerparty aussieht, »99 LUFTBALLONS« ist ein Lovesong, während »PSYCHO« und »ALLERLETZTE FAHRT« die Platte in eine nachden-klichere Richtung ziehen.
Gerade darin liegt die Stärke des Albums: Es macht aus Bayern kein Postkartenmotiv und aus TREAM
keine Kunstfigur, sondern zeigt einen Künstler, der Wirtshaus, Wahnsinn und Weltoffenheit gleichzeitig
denken kann – laut, liebevoll, verletzlich und provokant.

With bands such as Hellhammer/Celtic Frost and Coroner, but also more obscure formations such as Fear Of God, Excruciation, and Infected, Switzerland has always been a fertile breeding ground for extreme metal. Messiah, originally formed in 1984, also played a major role in the development of thrash and death metal in Switzerland. They released two groundbreaking albums on Chainsaw Murder Records: “Hymn To Abramelin” in 1986 and “Extreme Cold Weather” a year later. In the early nineties, Messiah signed a contract with Karl Walterbach's label Noise Records, on which three more albums were released: “Choir Of Horrors” (1991), “Rotten Perish” (1992), and “Underground” (1994). The classic lineup of Messiah during the Noise era consisted of vocalist Andy Kaina, who passed away far too early in 2022, Steve Karrer on drums, Patrick Hersche on bass, and band founder Brögi on guitar. Many consider “Choir Of Horrors” from 1991, produced by Sven Conquest at Sky Trak Studios in Berlin, to be the pinnacle of Messiah's work. After 7 strange years of relative silence, and 13 years of being a band, Dog Chocolate have returned with ‘So Inspired, So Done In’. Their fourth album is their most focused, cohesive and song-y yet. They still sound like a bin full of wasps, but now the bin has double-cream or a Viennetta or something at the bottom. While many of the 16 songs on here barely make it past the 3-minute mark, each one is bursting with all the textures and colours of an office cupboard: full of old sweets, fluorescent markers, and multiple ways to fix paper together.

Thematically, a lot of ground is covered, with songs tackling subject matter as diverse as overheard conversations, healing fungal toenails, the Rogerian concept of the Actualising Tendency, bronze age living conditions, dreaming songs into being and human-plant relations. Work (and anti-work) is a recurring theme, as is artistic inspiration and burnout. Dog Chocolate revel in the mundane and incidental, to explore bigger, existential questions. Recorded and mixed by POZI’s Toby Burroughs and mastered by Sofia Lopes, ‘So Inspired, So Done In’ charts a long and confusing period in the band’s collective life, marked by major life changes, losses and shifts, colouring the band’s trademark frantic, daft and anxious energy with a contemplative glaze. Dog Chocolate continue to investigate their internal and external landscapes with playful curiosity, frustration, silliness and empathy.

Pre/history of the band: In the early 2000’s Andrew (vocals), Rob (guitar, vocals) and Matthew (guitar, vocals) played together as teenagers in South-East London-based maximalist, costumed surrealist punk band Yeborobo. They met drummer Jonathan playing with his instrument-swapping masked band Limn at art space Utrophia in Deptford. Later, when both bands had split, Dog Chocolate formed with a shared desire to make a band that was simpler than their theatrical past: small amps and light guitars, no more than 2 drums at any one time, a keyboard no longer than a ruler and a shared ethos… “it’s about giving a shit, but at the same time not giving a shit, but not ‘whatever’, not giving up never!”. The band floated the term “pencilcase punk” to describe their jumbled, colourful, dense and instant music.

Dog Chocolate built on this early scrappiness, bedding into their sound over several albums. Their first “Or” (2014) was a split with Ravioli Me Away, soon followed by “Snack Fans” (2016) and “Moody Balloon Baby” (2018). Along the way they played gigs with bands as wide ranging as Deerhoof, No Age, Dry Cleaning, Palm, Daniel Wakeford, Shopping and Pozi.

With a tendency to converse with each other both lyrically and musically cultivated over many years, the members of Dog Chocolate bounce off each other, respectfully disagree, try to make each other laugh and share some of their most vulnerable feelings with each other. ‘So Inspired, So Done In’ is their own unique offering during these unsteady times: a language of friendship translated into songs.

HiIDAS ist ein instrumentales Trio aus München, das sich im Doom Metal verortet, aber dessen Grenzen gerne überschreitet. One of our all time favorite New York dancehall tunes, finally back again. 20+ years ago, in a different era of reggae record collecting where there was little to no information to be found about so many '80s reggae records, the original 12 inch single of this one was a mythical tune among our set of friends. In fact this one was on the earliest DKR wish lists, but all good things take time. By now we expect most of our followers know Junior's digital masterpiece "Rampers Music", which we first issued in 2014, and is now back in stock. But this one is his earliest and first tune, a heavy piece of a rub a dub cut at Munchie Jackson's Sunshine Studio in the Bronx, with Jackie Mittoo at the helm of the session. The original 12 inch was self released by Junior on his own label in 1985, with one of our all time favorite label designs. The lyrics are a great snapshot of mid 80s New York, a nod to all those making their way, for better or worse, thru the posses and cliques of the Jamaican scene of the day.

Interpretation von Keith Jarretts „Lisbon Stomp“ swingend in ihr drittes Aufnahmeprojekt, die vielleicht
abenteuerlichste Trio-Aufnahme der Gruppe. Auf dem gesamten Album richten der österreichische Gitarrist
und seine amerikanischen Mitstreiter das Augenmerk jedoch auf Muthspiels fesselnde Eigenkompositionen,
die lyrische Balladen („Pradela“, „Traversia“), subtile Folk-Einflüsse („Strumming“, „Flight“) sowie leicht
angeschrägten Kammerjazz („Weill You Wait“) und twangy Rock ’n’ Roll („Roll“) umfassen. Wie gewohnt
wechselt Muthspiel fließend zwischen akustischer und elektrischer Gitarre und präsentiert seinen sanften
Anschlag und seine fließenden Linien in einem Programm, das die gesamte Bandbreite des idiomatischen
Spektrums zu umfassen scheint, das er in den letzten Jahrzehnten entfaltet hat. Mit einer raffnierten
Interpretation von Paul Motians „Abacus“ als Finale des Albums schließt Muthspiel eine große Lücke in
der Geschichte des Jazz und von ECM. Das Album ist nach der japanischen Hauptstadt benannt, wo es
im Oktober 2024 aufgenommen wurde. Tokyo wurde im Februar 2025 in München abgemischt, und von
Manfred Eicher produziert.

Vom britischen Sender Classic FM wurde Louis als einziger deutscher Künstler in die "Top 30 artists under 30 in 2025" aufgenommen, während BR-Klassik erklärte: "mit Louis Philippson hat die klassische Musik einen neuen Rockstar gefunden." Auch auf den 12 restlos ausverkauften Konzerten seiner Debüt-Tour im Mai 2025 und bei den Arena Shows der "Night of the Proms" im Winter 2024 begeisterte er tausende Menschen für die Klassik auf seine eigene Weise. Daran knüpft Louis Philippson mit seinem Album "My Way" an. ‘Idealism’ is an album about navigating life in the 2020s as millennial adults, and all the difficulties and uncertainties that come with that - knowing you’ll probably never be able to afford to buy a house, and that a simple grocery shop costs way more than ever before. But it’s also about all the joys and positives of modern life too - being kind to yourself, being kind to other people, and overcoming difficulties.
The band tries to capture that dichotomy on this album, hence the title ‘Idealism’, which the dictionary says is “the unrealistic belief in or pursuit of perfection”.
The album has been a long time in the making, diligently demoed before tracking across studios in London & Essex. Taking a more pop production approach, layering parts and additional keyboards, synthesisers and percussion to add a richer and fuller sound to their traditional indie rock set up.
Nostalgia has always been a running theme for Don’t Worry, as displayed on 2022’s ‘Remorseless Swing’ and 2018 debut album ‘Who Cares Anyway?’. There’s a decent dose of it on this new album still, including on the cover, with a photograph taken in their home of Harlow New Town in 2001 by Jim Brown. And in their musical influences, Pavement, Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, The Streets, Fleetwood Mac, UK Grime and The GTA Vice City Soundtrack (alongside contemporary influences such as Fontaines D.C., MJ Lenderman, Andy Shauf).
But perhaps for the first time on this album, they push through the comfort of the past, embrace the present and look forward to the future with hope.

Levitating Locked In Roots

Jetzt auch auf Vinyl: Musikalische Mitteilungen aus Oslo, New York, Basel und Lugano – aufgenommen zwischen 2018 und 2022 – werden auf dieser fesselnden Aufnahme, auf der der norwegische Schlagzeuger Thomas Strønen solo und in einer Reihe von Duetten zu hören ist, einander gegenübergestellt und neu kombiniert. Mit unterschiedlichsten Partnern wie Craig Taborn, Chris Potter, Sinikka Langeland und Jorge Rossy ist der musikalische Bezugsrahmen breit gefächert. Elemente von Langelands archaisch anmutendem Folk bis hin zu Potters Post-Coltrane-Saxophon und Taborns wirbelndem modernistischem Klavier finden alle ihren Platz in einem Projekt, das neue Verbindungen und kreative Beziehungen impliziert. Das Album wurde im Februar 2023 von Strønen und dem Produzenten Manfred Eicher in den Bavaria Musikstudios in München fertiggestellt und gemischt.
