September 2025 bei RVNG Intl. und ist eine gewagte und doch intime Reflexion über die ungefilterten Komplexitäten menschlicher Beziehungen. Ohne die fiktiven Erzählungen der letzten Alben der Künstlerin kommt „A Danger to Ourselves“ von einem Ort der emotionalen Aufrichtigkeit. Dalts Stimme steht im Mittelpunkt und wird von einer üppigen akustischen Orchestrierung, perkussiven Instrumenten und einer Reihe hochkarätiger Mitstreiter unterstützt, die sich wie ein tiefes persönliches Gespräch entwickeln.



Die in Pereira, Kolumbien, geborene Dalt wuchs in einer musikbegeisterten Familie auf, die sie im Alter von neun Jahren dazu ermutigte, eine Gitarre in die Hand zu nehmen. Dalt folgte diesem kreativen Impuls, war fasziniert von computergestützter Produktion und verließ eine aufkeimende Karriere als Bauingenieurin, zog von Medellín nach Barcelona und schließlich nach Berlin, wo sie ihren unverwechselbaren, abenteuerlichen Sound entwickelte. Mit „Anticlines“ (2018) und „No era sólida“ (2020) und vor allem mit „¡Ay!“, Dalts bahnbrechendem Sci-Fi-Bolero-Album von 2022, hat sich ihre Arbeit auf immer anspruchsvolleres Terrain begeben. Auf dem Weg dorthin hat Dalt ihre Praxis auf die Vertonung von Filmen wie „On Becoming a Guinea Fowl“ (2024), die HBO-Serie „The Baby“ (2022) und den bevorstehenden psychologischen Horrorfilm „Rabbit Trap“ ausgeweitet, während sie Klanginstallationen und Performances kreiert, die ihre leuchtenden Modulationen und ihren unverwechselbaren, sich entwickelnden stimmlichen Ansatz zur Schau stellen. „A Danger to Ourselves“ entstand aus fragmentarischen Erklärungen, die Dalt aufschrieb, während sie das Leben auf der Tournee von „¡Ay!“ und die prägenden Momente einer neuen Beziehung meisterte. Infoline proudly presents a compilation of tracks by Deo Cadaver on double 12' inch vinyl LP! Active from 1987 to 1993, Geneva-based trio Deo Cadaver stood at the vanguard of Switzerland’s electronic body music scene. Formed at just 17 years old, the group drew early influence from the visceral intensity of acts like The Young Gods, Front 242, Laibach, and Skinny Puppy—but quickly forged a sound and performative presence entirely their own. Their live shows became infamous: loud, theatrical, and uncompromising. Covered in grey-green clay and fake blood, suspended from chains, or locked in cages wired with sensors, projections, and video monitors, Deo Cadaver unleashed chaotic storms of samples, distorted drum machines, live percussion, and seismic basslines. At the center stood a vocalist whose voice and energy pushed the limits of physical endurance. Despite their undeniable force, Deo Cadaver remained largely unknown beyond their immediate circles. “There was no support structure—barely any venues, press, or labels for what we were doing,” they reflect. “Apart from our parents and a few community associations, we were completely on our own.” The internet, still confined, offered no relief. Connections were built face-to-face, and tapes were copied by hand. Still, the band found kinship in the Swiss experimental collective MXP, alongside other likeminded outliers pushing electronics beyond the dancefloor. Their spirit was one of invention, defiance, and independence.
While Belgium reveled in its New Beat wave and the UK fell into euphoric ecstasy, Deo Cadaver raged in the shadows—loud, isolated, and ahead of their time. This compilation finally brings their work into the light: a long- overdue snapshot of an uncompromising force from the margins of EBM history

Running with Scissors is the third full-length album from Canadian trio Afternoon Bike Ride. Residing in Montreal, the group is made up of Lia (vocals, guitar, programming), David (vocals, guitar, drums, programming), and Éloi (vocals, keys, drums, programming). Since their formation in 2019, the band has released numerous projects where indie rock blends with acoustic pop, ambient field recordings, and lofi folk.

With each track on the new album, the three artists explore the rollercoaster ride of life’s most profound lessons—falling in and out of love, embracing grief, and navigating the complex spectrum of human emotion. The album feels like a series of journal entries, capturing moments of vulnerability, self-discovery, and personal growth. A lot has changed since their formation in 2019 but their hearts are still in the right place. Will Johnson und die verbleibenden Mitglieder der beliebten Band Magnolia Electric Co. haben sich für neue Aufnahmen als Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. zusammengetan. Im September werden Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. ihrem verstorbenen Kollegen Jason Molina Tribut zollen und vom 18. bis 21. September 2025 vier Konzerte in Texas geben. Will Johnson ist der texanische Songwriter von Centro-matic, South San Gabriel und derzeitiges Mitglied der 400 Unit mit Jason Isbell. Johnson veröffentlichte im April 2025 sein zehntes Soloalbum "Diamond City" und war Teil des 2009 erschienenen Gemeinschaftsalbums "Molina and Johnson", für das eine Tournee aufgrund von Molinas Alkoholproblemen abgesagt werden musste. Die vier Konzerte folgen den ausgetretenen Pfaden von Molina und Magnolia während ihrer sieben Jahre als Magnolia Electric Co. und markieren den 20. Jahrestag einer Texas-Tournee, die 2005 zur Unterstützung der Alben "What Comes After the Blues" und "Trials and Errors" stattfand. Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. »Downriver« unfolds like a dérive through obscured geographies, echoing the psychogeographic journeys of Iain Sinclair. Just as Sinclair’s writing blurs the tangible and the imagined, Sequences, the project of Antwerp-based artist Niels Geybels, drifts into spaces where memory and environment overlap. Single-take recordings stretch into slowly mutating drones, fractured textures, and ghostlike voices that seem to seep in from unseen thresholds. The atmosphere is one of decayed grandeur, evoking disused monuments, neglected warehouses, and corners of the landscape where centuries of history accumulate beneath the surface.

This is music shaped by wandering without a map: a patchwork of distortion, hidden detail, and abrupt rupture. The sense of time loosens, the everyday unravels, and new contours emerge out of drift and delay. Downriver situates itself between sound art and environmental music, drawing listeners into liminal zones where place becomes porous, haunted by what has been and what might yet be.

In der Symbolik von JENS LEKMAN ist Bewegung ein Mittel, um den Wahnsinn abzuwenden - oder sich ihm hinzugeben. Die Songs auf der ,An Argument With Myself"-EP befassen sich mit vielen Arten der Fortbewegung, sowohl klein als auch groß, warum er nach einfachen Vorgaben der Landkarte von Melbourne samt gesellschaftlicher Veränderung zurück in seine alte Heimat Göteborg zog. Der Titeltrack beginnt mit einer typischen LEKMAN Geschichte, in der er sich an einen innerlichen Disput auf dem Heimweg in Melbourne erinnert. ,Waiting For Kirsten" behandelt auf der Oberfläche die am Ende erfolglose Suche nach Kirsten Dunst während eines Filmdrehs in Göteborg, ist aber am Ende doch der Versuch, die komplizierte Beziehung zur eigenen Heimatstadt zu durchleuchten. Passend dazu liefert das von Bläsern dominierte ,New Directions" eine verrückte Straßenkarte mit Hinweisen dazu, wie man jeden anderen Ort als das Hier und jede andere Zeit als das Jetzt erreicht. Die Songs sind geistreich, wörtlich zu nehmen und an ihren Ort gebunden; sie alle sind unterwegs, um entweder verrückt zu werden oder sich seine Zurechnungsfähigkeit zu bewahren. Mit Hörnern, Flöten, Streichern und Arpeggio Gitarren bleibt JENS auch musikalisch in Bewegung. Leila Gamal’s ‘Abaleeh Abalingi’

At the height of Pan-Arabism, when the United Arab Republic fused Egypt and Syria in a fleeting but bold experiment, a new wave of popular music was emerging—vibrant, infectious, and universally danceable. Among its lesser-known stars was actress Leila Gamal, whose voice—delicate yet rich with longing—embodied the golden era of Egyptian cinema. Born in Alexandria to Syrian roots, Gamal’s vocals were a magnetic blend of sweetness and passion, with a timeless allure that echoed the silver-screen sweethearts of her time.

Abaleeh Abalingi pulses with the hypnotic drive of funky organ riffs, reminiscent of the blind visionary Ammar El Sheriyi, creating a sound both cinematic and undeniably catchy. The delicate lyrics by Khairi Fouad place the track firmly in the lineage of the Middle East’s most iconic pop divas, from Angham to Nawal El-Zoughbi who he subsequently wrote for. This reissue, lovingly remastered, brings this long-lost gem back to life, where it belongs—spinning on turntables, teasing dance floors, and transporting listeners to Egypt in the late sixties.


Adel Osman’s “Oriental Eyes”

Oriental Eyes captures the essence of the 60s Egyptian Franco-Arab movement, blending Western (often jazz) influences with Arabic melodies to mesh mystique with sensuality. Osman’s commanding yet delicate vocals deliver the bilingual lyrics with captivating sincerity, his voice effortlessly gliding over the swells of the arrangement. The trumpet, possibly connecting him to Zaki Osman of Salah Ragab’s legendary Cairo Jazz Band, adds a layer of flair, enriching the track’s Tarantino-esque eclecticism. Now remastered, ‘Oriental Eyes’ is not only a nostalgic gem but a timeless reminder of the boundary-defying spirit that defined the 1960s musical landscape.

Given the ongoing war efforts against Israel, this record wasn’t pressed by Sono Cairo till much later in 1975 once Egypt had recaptured the Sinai and restored national pride. Sono Cairo (Sawt el-Qahira) was the first Arab-owned and by far the largest record label in the Middle East, amassing an unmatched catalogue of music. With exclusive rights over much of Umm Kulthum’s works, Sono Cairo played a crucial role in disseminating the sounds of Arab Nationalism and projecting Egypt’s soft power across the region.

A side track "Redirect" was cut from a longer Sunday night session with XENIA REAPER. Two laptops Ableton linked, chilling in the flat in Glasgow. The amazing synth line is all XENIA, everything else is Conna; looping the synth & bass for about an hour and bringing other elements in and out. When NYC-based experimental dance punks Guerilla Toss, active since 2011, were in Vermont recording their new full-length album You're Weird Now, frontwoman Kassie Carlson would prepare what she called 'punk lunch': a communal meal made by raiding the studio fridge for whatever was left and assembling a sandwich from the most random ingredients imaginable. Regularly joining punk lunch were two legends from their own corners of the weird music world: Stephen Malkmus (Pavement, The Jicks) and Trey Anastasio, Phish guitarist and owner of The Barn; the recording studio where Guerilla Toss were making You're Weird Now, with Malkmus in the producer's seat. Engineer Bryce Goggin, who has worked with Malkmus since Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain, and Ben Collette, Phish's longtime engineer at The Barn, were also part of the crew. While the idea of the guy from Phish and the guy from Pavement sitting around with Guerilla Toss, congenially assembling sandwiches from random foodstuffs dug up from the depths of a studio fridge, might seem absurd, it also makes total sense. Because really, if there's any band that serves as the natural bridge between slacker punks who saw Pavement way before you did, wild-eyed wooks who've seen Phish more times than you ever will, and even the eccentrics in '90s drip following former GT tourmates Primus-it's Guerilla Toss. A band so imaginative and unapologetically themselves, they're basically the real-life manifestation of a utopian, post-snob world where all musical ideas are worthy of expression and everyone is welcome. You're Weird Now powers this message. Guerilla Toss' fifth album and second for Sub Pop is a hugely creative and joyful statement about the joy of creativity. With You're Weird Now Guerilla Toss reclaim the word "weird" for everyone brave enough to let their freak flag fly and stay true to their artistic vision no matter what-a way riskier act than it's ever given credit for, and one that requires a certain amount of serene self-confidence that it takes time and effort to cultivate and sustain. ‘Tedere Baldadigheden’, Guido Belcanto's new, long-awaited album in a production by Firmin Michiels and Guido Op De Beeck, was released on 4 October, 2024 at the beginning of a very extensive, sold out tour. It is a special retrospective from an award-winning singer who looks back with melancholy and humour on the many mischievous adventures that marked his life. Love prevails, but tragedy and tristesse also leave their mark on Belcanto himself and the scarred souls of the many colourful characters who come to life in his songs.

This 15th studio album undoubtedly represents a new high point in Belcanto's oeuvre, which now numbers over 300 songs, with 11 of his own songs and 2 surprising adaptations of songs by Eels and Guido's idol Renaud. Besides members of his loyal backing band Het Broederschap, guest musicians such as Stoy Stoffelen, David Poltrock, Evert Verhees, Jan De Smet, Alban Sarens, Adriano Cominotto and Chris Peeters also play along. Also notable are certainly the passages of Lara Chedraoui (Intergalactic Lovers) and The Bonnie Blues.

For more than 40 years, Guido Belcanto has been creating a universe all his own with his songs. A warm, recognisable home for everyone, young or old, rich or poor, winner or loser. A home too, masterfully brought to a stage where the audience is allowed to be themselves without embarrassment, praising happiness, measuring the damage suffered, letting the tears flow and the laughs ring out.

Wah Wah 45s present a unique moment from 1982 where New Wave and Post Punk collided with Afrobeat in the shape of Norwich DIY outfit Vital Disorders and their subversive yet instantly memorable version of the Fela Kuti classic, Zombie.

Band member Suzy Cox explains more:

"The song came to the band through our vocalist Lenneka Van Gilst who was in the group between January 1980 and December 1981. Lenneka grew up in Nigeria and had the original track on vinyl. When she moved to Trowse House, Norwich, the flat under Chris, the VD's bass player, he heard the vibes floating through the floorboards. One thing led to another and it was in our set for ages. Lenneka had left the band to travel to Mexico by the time we recorded the track. We did well to choose it as the song has really stood the test of time. Lenneka had a lot of African Beat which was a big influence on us."

The track came to label boss Dom Servini's attention having been unearthed by BBC 6 Music DJ Gilles Peterson in late 2024, and a vinyl reissue of this rare and one-off gem was the obvious choice. Rather than pairing it with its original punky B-side though, Dom enlisted new signings to the label - young Afro-dub outfit Kotoa - to record their take on the Kuti classic. The quintet delivered what is a three minute, intense take on the Afrobeat genre, complete with youthful voices of protest echoing those of over 30 years ago.

The 7-inch vinyl only release of Zombie comes with re-worked art courtesy of our award winning designer Animisiewasz, taking the home-made look of the original cover and updating it respectfully for 2025.

London-based producer Tar Blanche, also known as a member of the dreampop band Yumi Zouma, unveils How to Dance Freely Without Social Anxiety, a 7-track journey through jazz-house, deep house, and chill-out lounge.



With a sound that resonates alongside artists like dublon, Table, and Berlioz, the English producer blends ambient textures, refined guitar riffs, and emotive productions, crafting an intimate yet hypnotic atmosphere. Signed to Délicieuse Records, Tar Blanche continues to push boundaries, cementing his place as one of the most exciting producers in modern electronic music.

In Guadeloupe, many people think that jazz and ka music are like a ring and a finger. To some extent, the same could be said about so called Latin music and the music played in the French West Indies.

Both aesthetics were born in the Caribbean and bear so many connections that they can easily be considered cousins. In constant dialogue, there are lots of examples of their fruitful alliance and have been for a while. The English country dance that used to be practiced in European lounges came to be called kadrille in Martinique and contradanza in Cuba. They both featured additional percussion instruments inherited from the transatlantic deportation. Drawing from shared feelings about the same traumatized identity – later to be creolized – it would be hard not to assume that they were meant to inspire each other. The golden age of the orchestras that graced the Pigalle nights during the interwar period further proves the point. As soon as the 1930s, Havana-born Don Barreto naturally mixed danzón and biguine music in a combo based at Melody's Bar. In the following decade, Félix Valvert, a conductor who was born and raised in Basse-Terre in Guadelupe, also worked wonders in Montparnasse with La Coupole, which was an orchestra made up of eclectic musicians. Afro- Caribbean performers of various origins were often hired on rhythm and brass sections in jazz bands, which used to enliven the typical French balls of the capital. In the 1930s and onwards, Rico’s Creole Band was one of them.



Martinican violinist-clarinettist Ernest Léardée, who would become the king of biguine music as well as the main figure of French Uncle Ben's TV commercials (a dark stigma of post-colonial stereotypes), had musicians from the whole Caribbean sphere play at his Bal Blomet – and they all enchanted "ces Zazous-là" (according the words of Léardée's biguine-calypso piece). In les Antilles (French for French West Indies), music history started to speed up in the 1950s, when trade expanded and radio stations grew bigger. The Guadelupean and Martiniquais youth tuned in their old galena radio sets to South American and Caribbean music. As for the women traders, les pacotilleuses, they bought and sold goods across different islands (the "passing of items through various hands" was thought to be most pleasurable) and brought back countless sounds in their luggage. Such was the case of Madame Balthazar, who once returned from Puerto Rico with the first 45rpm and 33rpm to ever enter Martinique.

Out of this adventure was created the famous Martinican label La Maison des Merengues, a music business she opened and undertook with her husband and which proved to be a major landmark. At the end of the 1950s, in Puerto Rico, Marius Cultier competed in the Piano International Contest playing a version of Monk's Round 'Midnight. He won the first prize and this distinction foreshadowed everything that was to come. Cultier, the heretic Monk of jazz, was quickly praised for writing superb melodies, always tinged with a twist that conferred a unique sound to his music. It didn't take long for the gifted self-taught musician to get to play with Los Cubanos, making a name for himself thanks to his impressive maestria on merengues.

The rest is history. Besides, in the late 1950s, Frantz Charles-Denis, born into the upper middle class in Saint-Pierre and better known by his first name Francisco, went back home after working at La Cabane Cubaine – a club located rue Fontaine where he had caught the Latin fever. Francisco's music was therefore heavily marked by his Cuban cousins' influence, which gave the combos he led a specific style and also led to renewal. Things were swinging hard in La Savane, located in the main square in Fort-de-France. He set up the Shango club close by and tested out the biguine lélé there, a new music formula spiced up with Latin rhythms. Soon afterwards, fate had him fly to Puerto Rico and Venezuela.

As for percussionist Henri Guédon (percussions were only a part of his many talents), he was born in Fort-de-France in May 22nd 1944, the day marking the celebration of the abolition of slavery. As an old man, he could remember that in " his father's Teppaz, a lot of hectic 6/8 music was constantly playing...". In the opening lines of his Lettre à Dizzy, a small illustrated collection of writings published by Del Arco, he highlighted the huge impact that cubop had on him as a teenage boy, around 1960. He eventually turned out to be the lider maximo in La Contesta, a big band steeped in Latin jazz. He was also the one who originated the word zouk to describe music which brought the sound of the New York barrio to Paris. It was the culmination of a journey that started in Sainte-Marie: "a mythical place for bélé, the equivalent of Cuban guaguancó". In the early 1960s, the tertiary economy developed to the detriment of agriculture. Yet rural life was where roots music emerged in Martinique and in Guadeloupe.

Record companies played a major part in the process of Latin versions sweeping across the islands – before reaching everywhere else. Producer Célini, boss of the great Aux Ondes label, and Marcel Mavounzy, both the head of Émeraude records - a firm which was founded in 1953 - as well as the brother of famous saxophonist Robert Mavounzy, were big names to bear in mind. Although there were many of them - all of whom are featured on this record - Henri Debs was definitely the major figure in the recording adventure. He proved to be so influential that he even got compared to Berry Gordy. In the mid 1950s, when he acquired his first Teppaz, he worked on his first compositions: a bolero and a chachacha. Then, he became the one man who made people discover Caribbean music, from calypso to merengue. He was among the first ones to rush out to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to buy records and distribute them through a store run by one of his brothers in Fort-de-France. He had members of the Fania All Star come and perform there, which he was madly proud about. He was also the first one to pay attention to Haitian music, such as compas direct and various other rhythms which would soon flood the market. As a result, many of the combos hitting his legendary studio would end up boosted by widespread "Afro-Latin" rhythms. However, he never denied his identity: gwo ka drums were given a major role, although they were instruments which had long been banned from the "official" music spheres. The present selection bears witness to such a creative swarming. Here are fourteen tracks of untimely yet unprecedented cross-fertilization: all types of music rooted in the Creole archipelago have found their way, whatsoever, to the tracklisting. Whether originating from the city or being more rural, they all go back to what Edouard Glissant, in an interview about the place of West Indian music in the Afro-American scope, called "the trace of singing, the one which got erased by slavery." "It is so in jazz, but also in reggae, calypso, biguine, salsa... This trace also manifests through the drums, whether Guadelupean, Dominican, Jamaican or Cuban... None of them being quite the same. They all point to the idea of a trace, seeking it out and connecting to each other through it. This is the hallmark of the African diaspora: its ability to create something new, in relation to itself, out of a trace. It may be the memory of a rhythm, the crafting of a drum, a means of expression which doesn't resort to an old language but to the modalities of it." The opening track features one of the emblematic orchestras of this aesthetic identity, criscrossing many music types from the archipelago. The 1974 Ray Barretto guajira – Ray Barretto was a major New York drummer influenced by Charlie Parker and Chano Pozzo – is magnificently performed by Malavoi, a legendary Fayolais group (i.e from Fort-de-France). Additionally, the compilation ends on a piece by Los Martiniqueños de Francisco. It symbolically closes the circle as it is a genuine potomitan of Martinique culture which also functions as a tireless campaigner for Afro-Caribbean music. Practicing the danmyé rounds (a kind of capoeiria) to the rhythm of the bèlè drum, it delivers a terrific Caterete, a kind of champeta of Afro- Colombian obedience which was originally composed by Colombian Fabián Ramón Veloz Fernández for the group Wgenda Kenya. The icing on the cake is Brazilian Marku Ribas, who found refuge in Martinique in the early 1970s, bringing his singing to the last trance-inducing track. These two "versions" convey the whole tone of a selection composed of rarities and classics of the tropicalized genre, swarming with tonic accents and convoluted rhythms. It is the sort of cocktail that the West Indians never failed to spice up with their own ingredients. For instance, the Los Caraïbes cover of Dónde, a famous Cuban theme composed by producer Ernesto Duarte Brito, has a typical violin and features renowned Martinique singer Joby Valente and his piquant voice.



The track used to be – or so we think – their only existing 45rpm. The meaningful Amor en chachachá by L'Ensemble Tropicana, a band which included Haitian musicians among whom was composer and leader Michel Desgrotte, also recalls how Latin music was pervasive in the tropics in the mid-1960s. They were the ones keeping people dancing at Le Cocoteraie in Guadelupe and La Bananeraie in Martinique. Around the same time, another "foreign" band, Congolese Freddy Mars N'Kounkou's Ryco Jazz, achieved some success on both islands by covering Latin jazz classics – such as their adaptation of Wachi Wara, a "soul sauce" by Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Pozo whose interweaving of strings and percussions can have anyone hit the dancefloor. How can you resist Dap Pinian indeed, a powerful guaguancó by Eugene Balthazar, performed by the Tropicana Orchestra and published by the Martinique-founded La Maison des Merengues? It also acts as a symbol of the maelstrom at work. Going by the name Paco et L'orchestre Cachunga, Roger Jaffory used to play guaguancó too: his Fania-inspired Oye mi consejo is one example of his style. Baila!!!!! Dancing was also one of the Kings' focus points. Oriza is a Puerto Rican bomba and a "classic" originally composed by Nuevayorquino trumpeter Ernie Agosto, which reserves major space for brasses, giving it a special sheen.

Emerging from the New York barrios crucible was also La Perfecta, a Martinique group originating from Trinidad, whose name directly references the totemic Eddie Palmieri figure as well as his own band, also called La Perfecta. Here they borrow Toumbadora from Colombian producer and composer Efraín Lancheros and interpret it by emphasizing percussions, which set fire to the track even more than the wind instruments. The same goes for Martinique's Super Jaguars, who use Tatalibaba – a composition by Cuban guitarist Florencio "Picolo" Santana which was made famous by Celia Cruz & La Sonora Matencera – as a pretext for sending their cadences into a frenzy. In a more typically salsa vein, the Super Combo, a famous Guadelupean orchestra from Pointe-Noire that was formed around the Desplan family and had Roger Plonquitte and Elie Bianay on board, adapt Serana, a theme by Roberto Angleró Pepín, a Puerto Rican composer, singer and musician also known for his song Soy Boricua. Here again, their vision comes close to surpassing the original. In the 1970s, L'Ensemble Abricot provided a handful of tracks of different syles, hence reaching the pinnacle of the art of achieving variety and giving pleasure. They played boleros, biguines, compas direct, guaguancó and even a good old boogaloo - the type they wanted to keep close to their hearts for ever, "pour toujours", as they sang along together in one of their songs. Léon Bertide's Martinican ensemble excelled at the boogaloo which had been composed by Puerto Rican saxophonist Hector Santos for the legendary El Gran Combo.



Three years later, in 1972, Henri Guédon, with the help of Paul Rosine on the vibraphone, tackled the Bilongo made famous by Eddie Palmieri. Such a classic!!!!! And so were the Aiglons, the band from Guadelupe: choosing to execute Pensando en tí, a composition by Dominican Aniceto Batista, on a cooler tempo than the original, they noticeably used a wonderfully (un)tuned keyboard in place of the accordion. On the high-value collectible single – the first one released by Les Aiglons under the Duli Disc label – there is a sticker classifying the track under the generic name "Afro". Now that is what we call a symbol. Jacques Denis

September 2025 bei RVNG Intl. und ist eine gewagte und doch intime Reflexion über die ungefilterten Komplexitäten menschlicher Beziehungen. Ohne die fiktiven Erzählungen der letzten Alben der Künstlerin kommt „A Danger to Ourselves“ von einem Ort der emotionalen Aufrichtigkeit. Dalts Stimme steht im Mittelpunkt und wird von einer üppigen akustischen Orchestrierung, perkussiven Instrumenten und einer Reihe hochkarätiger Mitstreiter unterstützt, die sich wie ein tiefes persönliches Gespräch entwickeln.



Die in Pereira, Kolumbien, geborene Dalt wuchs in einer musikbegeisterten Familie auf, die sie im Alter von neun Jahren dazu ermutigte, eine Gitarre in die Hand zu nehmen. Dalt folgte diesem kreativen Impuls, war fasziniert von computergestützter Produktion und verließ eine aufkeimende Karriere als Bauingenieurin, zog von Medellín nach Barcelona und schließlich nach Berlin, wo sie ihren unverwechselbaren, abenteuerlichen Sound entwickelte. Mit „Anticlines“ (2018) und „No era sólida“ (2020) und vor allem mit „¡Ay!“, Dalts bahnbrechendem Sci-Fi-Bolero-Album von 2022, hat sich ihre Arbeit auf immer anspruchsvolleres Terrain begeben. Auf dem Weg dorthin hat Dalt ihre Praxis auf die Vertonung von Filmen wie „On Becoming a Guinea Fowl“ (2024), die HBO-Serie „The Baby“ (2022) und den bevorstehenden psychologischen Horrorfilm „Rabbit Trap“ ausgeweitet, während sie Klanginstallationen und Performances kreiert, die ihre leuchtenden Modulationen und ihren unverwechselbaren, sich entwickelnden stimmlichen Ansatz zur Schau stellen. „A Danger to Ourselves“ entstand aus fragmentarischen Erklärungen, die Dalt aufschrieb, während sie das Leben auf der Tournee von „¡Ay!“ und die prägenden Momente einer neuen Beziehung meisterte. The album introduced a lush, complex dream world that the singer, composer, and producer created and inhabited largely on her own. She produced all the songs, and wrote and performed everything on the self-released collection outside of a re-imagined cover of Pink Floyd’s “Green is the Colour” and 2 other tracks (“The Time,” “Give It Back To You”), which started as instrumentals written by Survive’s Kyle Dixon (who composed the Stranger Things soundtrack with his bandmate Michael Stein), to which Ainsworth wrote melodies and added lyrics. Ainsworth, who’s relocated to Los Angeles from Toronto since 2017’s Darling of the Afterglow, explains that the collection revealed itself to her “as a play taking place in Mother Nature’s vanishing home,” aka Phantom Forest, and that she’s singing from 3 perspectives: herself, Mother Nature, and Greek Chorus. For instance, of the album’s opener, “Diamonds Cutting Diamonds,” she explains: “The Greek Chorus sets the scene, narrating and offering direction on how to enter Phantom Forest. It’s my hope that the listener will imagine the narration to be directed to them as well, as they begin the journey of the album.” You’ll get a sense of this from the collection’s edenic cover art and the playful, pastoral video for the album’s first single, “Can You Find Her Place.” Its inspiration came from Ainsworth’s love for Italian Renaissance painter Botticelli’s 15-century masterpiece “Primavera,” an allegorical representation of the burgeoning fertility of the earth in spring. She notes: “The video features the Greek gods of the painting in a choreographed Baroque style dance.” Keeping with the personal feel of the collection, her sister Abby Ainsworth directed the clip. In line with the classical and historical depths of Phantom Forest, Ainsworth, who holds a Masters Degree in film scoring composition from NYU and studied composition as an undergrad at McGill, notes that although the album might be considered pop, she approached it as an orchestrator. “Even if I’m dealing purely with synths,” she says, “The songs are like a score, each one an evolving journey. I love to use strings so I’ve included my string arrangements on ‘Tell Me I Exist’ and ‘Can You Find Her Place.’ I recorded live musicians on drums, bass, and guitar on ‘Edge of the Throne,’ ‘The Time,’ and ‘Floating Dream,’ and wove those live elements into my programmed elements.” Phantom Forest is a beautiful, vast collection that mixes the historical and the hands on, with hooks about the apocalypse and people obsessively using face-recognition software to see what paintings their face match with, in search of some kind of connection. It’s a journey that holds up to close listening (and lyric reading) and to dance floors, but that can also exist on a purely emotional plane. In all cases, it asks that you listen, and take some kind of action.

4 Loud bangers, fat kicks and bright high freq's : pure dancefloor Deejay Tool, Needed !

Editions Mego presents Bosko, landing exactly 30 years after the initial General Magic flights into the fantastic; the legendary first Mego release, a collaboration with Pita whereby all sounds were harnessed from the buzzing, drinking, humming sounds of fridges MEGO 001 General Magic & Pita and a 12” with Elin called Die Mondlandung (The Moon Landing) MEGO 002 which embarked on a minimal techno template so austere and strange it was one of the historic progenitors of austere and wonky rhythms alongside Sakho and other European explorers.

The initial return of the playful and mystical Austrian outfit General Magic came with the 20th year anniversary vinyl reissue of their classic debut Frantz eMEGO 010. A record so audacious and playful it still baffles as much as it entertains. At some point whilst working on this reissue GM’s Ramon Bauer and Andi Pieper were spurred on to rummage around with ideas and tools once more and after more than two decades of inactivity sonic sorcery was conjured once again. Live shows in honour of Peter Rehberg were performed in Vienna and London. Softbop, a limited risograph collaboration with Tina Frank came with the first new recordings as a digital download came out discreetly online. The first full length album following Rechenkönig in 2000 MEGO 032 “Nein Aber Ja” released in 2023 on Finlay Shakespeare’s GOTO Records on CD and cassette. An ongoing series of mix tapes online further highlights their interests encapsulating a new found angle on electronic mayhem. All of these elements retain the wildly eclectic and ecstatic glow that only they can harness and hand out to an unprepared world.

Now, we have General Magic’s second official full length comeback recording, Bosko. The new album is initially notable prior to the needle hitting the wax or the cursor identifying a track due to the artwork. Made by long term collaborator Tina Frank, this is Frank’s first analogue artwork, with a painting of a happy/nervous machine thing hovering in a landscape of no discernible identity. It’s quasi science fiction hovering amongst the potential for fun. Suited to the music? Natürlich.

Bosko sees Bauer and Pieper update and reframe their original investigations with a fresh supply of head scratching, heart racing tunes that hit the inexplicable with a wild mesh of drums, pianos, synthetic voices and all manner of immaterial sonic play. Startling sonics shock the ears on Club Duchamp which sounds like a conversation between synthetic adult ants in an environment still in development. Elfer features vocals supplied by a female-ish voice who, whilst grappling melody, has trouble executing a firm identity. Noorenhalt catapults along a mainframe of syncopation so unwieldy it feels like the voice, which is utterly alien, provides the only comfort. The tools may have changed but the wonderfully warped gaze of Bosko offers a fresh new vision of perplexing funk and robotic punk.

Am 28. Februar 2025 machen Stereolab sieben Studioalben erneut als 2LP-Formate erhältlich. Diese verwenden dieselben Remaster wie die erweiterten Vinylausgaben von 2019, die von Bo Kondren bei Calyx Mastering von den Original-1/2-Zoll-Bändern unter der Aufsicht von Tim Gane (Stereolab) geschnitten wurden, jedoch ohne das Bonusmaterial der 3LP-Versionen (die inzwischen eingestellt wurden). Die Idee dahinter besteht darin, Fans und Läden kostengünstigere Formate dieser begehrten Alben zur Verfügung zu stellen. Jede Platte wird im 5 mm dicken Cover mit bedruckten Innenhüllen und einer schützenden PVC-Aussentasche geliefert.

Ethereal Logic (S.Moreira & Indi Zone) releases new music after a 4-year hiatus. While focused on their solo projects, they made time to revisit their signature blend: organic downtempo rhythms bathed in bliss. The release also includes a remix for Australian drummer and producer Ziggy Zeitgeist.

Nach zwei Jahren unermüdlichen Tourens und zahlreicher Festivalauftritte kehrt die finnische Melodic-Death-Metal-Band Suotana mit ihrem bislang ambitioniertesten Album zurück: „Ounas II“, dessen Veröffentlichung für den 29. August 2025 geplant ist.

Als epische Fortsetzung von „Ounas I“ aus dem Jahr 2023 hebt dieses Album den charakteristisch frostigen Sound der Band auf ein neues Level und liefert eisige, zugleich mitreißende Melodic-Death-Hymnen, die das Genre neu definieren werden. Nach dem Erfolg ihres letzten Albums begab sich Suotana Anfang 2024 auf eine Asientour mit Kalmah sowie auf eine Europatour mit Finntroll und brachte ihren energiegeladenen, atmosphärischen Sound einem neuen internationalen Publikum näher. Auch bei namhaften Festivals wie Summer Breeze, Ragnarök Festival, Nummirock, Tuska und dem Hellsinki Metal Festival konnte die Band ihren Ruf als ernstzunehmende Größe der Szene weiter festigen. Die Rückkehr ins Studio mündete in einem Werk, das Aggression, Melodie und monumentales Storytelling meisterhaft vereint. Ounas II ist ein eindrucksvolles Zeugnis für Suotanas Weiterentwicklung – epische, frostklirrende Melodic-DeathHymnen mit Einflüssen aus Black und Power Metal. Songs wie „Twilight Stream“ und „Winter Visions“ demonstrieren das gereifte Songwriting und die eiskalte, zugleich elektrisierende Atmosphäre der Band. Das unbestrittene Herzstück des Albums ist jedoch „1473 Ounas“ – eine zehnminütige Melodic-Death-Odyssee mit einem atemberaubenden Gastauftritt von Zoe Marie Federoff-Šmerda (Cradle of Filth). Ihre eindringlichen Gesangslinien verschmelzen nahtlos mit Suotanas Signature-Sound und machen den Song zu einem sofortigen Klassiker.

Zum Abschluss der Ounas-Saga präsentiert Suotana eine eiskalte Neuinterpretation des Children-of-Bodom-Klassikers „Hatebreeder“, in ihrem eigenen, rauen und arktisch geprägten Stil.Das beeindruckende Cover-Artwork, erneut geschaffen von Simo Räsänen, fängt die majestätische nordische Landschaft und die rohe Intensität perfekt ein, die Suotana auszeichnet. "Sun" ist das erste Album der aus Tennessee stammenden Baritonsaxophonistin Zoh Amba für das in Oslo ansässige Label Smalltown Supersound - und ihr zweites Album nach "Oh Sun", das 2022 auf dem Label Tzadik erschienen ist. Auf "Sun" stellt Amba eine neu zusammengestellte Gruppe mit einer Reihe von Kompositionen vor, die die Grenze zwischen Performance und Prozess verwischen - wobei sich sowohl die Musik als auch der Akt ihrer Aufnahme in Echtzeit entfalten, teilweise geleitet von improvisatorischen Aufnahmetechniken. Als Bandleaderin bewegt sich Amba an den Rändern eines improvisatorischen Deltas, in dem spiritueller Jazz und Free Folk nicht als getrennte Genres auftreten, sondern als Nebenflüsse derselben Strömung, die beide aus einem gemeinsamen Glauben an die Musik als heilige Kraft entspringen. Die Entscheidung, "Sun" auf Smalltown Supersound zu veröffentlichen, entstand aus einer gemeinsamen Verbindung zum verstorbenen deutschen Saxophonisten Peter Brötzmann, der sowohl ein spiritueller Mentor für Amba war als auch mehrere Platten auf dem Label veröffentlicht hat. Und während das Album in amerikanischen Folk-Traditionen verwurzelt ist, ist es Brötzmanns furchtloser Geist - selbst ein immenser historischer Katalysator für den europäischen Free Jazz -, der wie ein roter Faden durch die musikalische Zusammenarbeit des Ensembles und seine experimentellen Aufnahmetechniken verläuft. Side A features Joe Pass’ haunting “A Time For Us,” lifted from his slept-on Guitar Interludes LP (1970, World Pacific). Heavy w/ cinematic strings, sparse drums & spacious guitar—perfect for blends, loops, or just zoned-out listening. J Dilla thought the same on “Chopped Thoughts”, & for Slum Village’s “Too Much”, but the original stands alone as pure mood.

Side B is a masterclass in moody grooves: “Enchanted Lady” (Milt Jackson & Ray Brown, Much In Common, 1964) is an underrated modal slow-burner w/ a hypnotic swing. Pete Rock & CL Smooth double dipped in “Caramel City” & Escape”, but others were also inspired: Large Professor “Ijuswannachill”, De La Soul“Dinninit”, Rob Swift“Natural Hight”, Knxwledge “3Koins”, among others.

Then comes “Cross Country” by Archie Whitewater—famously Kanye chopped it for Common’s “Drivin’ Me Wild”, but the OG is all groove: head-nod drums, brass stabs & electric piano that goes there.

Rockitman and Millennium Man were recorded in the summer of 1996 around the time bushpilot re-emerged from a hiatus following making the recordings that would become the album '23' to appear 3 times in short sucession at that years Leeds Sound City festival. The appearances led to interest from a major label in the USA, but as usual life got in the way ..With a new drummer in the shape of Nick Tonge of Leeds heavy noise merchants Zoopisa Rockit man and Millennium Man took from improvisations developed working with legendary Leeds producer Richard Formby in his studio and turning them more into songs: Richard thinks of them as 'Frankenstein creations'. We think noise rock with heavy Can influence compressed into two 3 and half minutes blasts of furious joy.The video was created by award winning Leeds artist Sarah Doyle, who also created the cover artwork. The video stars British rocker Vince Taylor, a key unfluence on a young David Bowie, and a host of model spaceships.

3XL boss and scene hyper-connector Special Guest DJ (aka uon, shy, Caveman LSD) lands on their own label with a debut album of hazed ambient noise and aquatic club anarchitextures, with a patented, heady style bent into new shapes.

For nigh on a decade, Berlin-based American producer, label boss, promoter and DJ Shy has operated at the centre of a scene that's still not fully defined. Their mythical DJ sets, where you're likely to hear precision-tweaked dubstep, dreampop, decelerated rap and dubwise ambient blended into vapour; gives some sense of the vibes at play, and a comb thru their spiderweb of a catalog - as Caveman LSD or uon, as part of Ghostride the Drift, Hoodie, crimeboys, virtualdemonlaxative and Cypher, or as the figurehead of 3XL, Experiences Ltd, xpq? and bblisss labels - further blurs that gist.

They've been caught in the crossfire of Big Ambient, sure, but there's always been something scrappier, sexier and more present going on under the hood. Shy and his network of associates - Huerco, Ulla, Perila, Ben Bondy, Naemi/Exael, Ponteac Streator and Arad Acid, among others - have asserted the interrelatedness of their discrete approaches. So-called "ambient" music doesn't exist in a vacuum, it un-focuses elements that undergird so many more corporeal sounds, and for Shy, their music reflects the druggy, DIY, genre-agnostic ethos of a trans-Atlantic neo-punk underground that exists in some liminal zone between the club, the bedsit and the basement.

Concerned with themes of “anger, sensuality, and dreaming”, the 40 minute roil of ‘Our Fantasy Complex’ frames Special Guest DJ at their most unapologetically oblique and illusive, expanding and contracting between whorls of shoegazing dynamics and extended portions of quasi-speed D&B x dub tech smeared on the mind’s-eye, with a vivid sense of bruised lushness that’s perfused all shy’s work thus far.

Joined by kindred collaborators Ben Bondy, Arad Acid and mu tate, and suspended in agitated bliss by Rashad Becker’s lucid mastering, the results feel out some of 2025’s most considered and distinctive within an amorphous zone that’s become a world unto itself. Ambient music’s fluffier signifiers are swapped out for a sort of sublime tension that, like the sound’s original ‘90s explosion, can be heard to reflect states of altered consciousness - both individual and collective.

Shy's layered, undulating productions are more like the chewed remnants of a thousand mixtapes cooked into a stream-of-consciousness hex. Save for the glistening, zoomed-out parting piece ‘Dream’, it all mostly avoids pretty melodies in favour of a spatio-textural sensuality that wraps us up, sometimes uncomfortably intimately, in shy’s thoughts. That oneiric closer is one of three gritty palate cleansers that swirl around its peaks, where elements of Reese-bass are suspended, writhing below looming atmospheric pressure in ‘How Long Can I Burn?’, emerging charred and flecked with rattled percussion on ‘Yoro (pt I & II)’, as though K-holing thru a blazing summer’s day.

In step with Perila’s notably darker turn of events on her ‘Omnis Festinatio Ex parts Diaboli Est’, album, or the unexpected ferocity of recent Space Afrika live shows, it’s not hard to hear a darkside gravitational pull on this one, where ambient music is no longer just a balm for troubled souls, but also suggestive of humanity’s most frightful odours.

From the ON_ series where unconventional, hard edged, experimental and archival club cuts get's re-presented, remixed and highlighted. Laton outs Russian newcomer Ectro Usic with a slamming, gritty & heavy duty electro/techno full side. Flip carries DJ Sotofett's broken but strobicly steady club mix of - Austrian inventor & synth specialist - A.Burger's "Device C" which in original suit has been released by Craft Records (1996) and Laton (1999). A proper zone out.

Berlin-based Colombian DJ, producer, and curator Edna Martinez presents a sonic journey into the electrifying world of Picó—the vibrant and dynamic sound system culture that has defined the streets of Cartagena and Barranquilla for decades. More than just a musical movement, Picó is a way of life, a bold expression of identity, community, and resistance. From its roots in the working-class neighbourhoods of Colombia’s Caribbean coast to its deep connections with Africa and the Caribbean, this compilation captures the pulse of a culture where music is played at full volume, rhythms travel across oceans, and dance is both a form of celebration and storytelling. For those unfamiliar, Picós are hand-painted sound systems, often adorned with dazzling colours and striking imagery, each with its own name and sonic identity. These mobile discos became the heart of neighbourhood bailes, where the sounds of champeta, highlife, soukous, mbaqanga, zouk, soca, and cumbia would turn every street corner, market, and terrace into a dancefloor. Initially built by local craftsmen using modified speaker components, Picós became legendary for their powerful bass and exclusivity, with DJs sourcing rare vinyl from African and Caribbean ports and rebranding them with unique piconemas—new names adapted to local slang, making the tracks instantly recognisable within the community.

This compilation brings together a carefully curated selection of these rare and sought-after tracks, tracing the deep-rooted musical exchanges between Colombia, West and Central Africa, and the Caribbean. Featuring artists like Los Corraleros De Majagual, Peacocks International Highlife Band, Pedro Lima, Zaïko Langa Langa, and more, the album also includes edits by Edna Martinez, reimagining these timeless rhythms for contemporary audiences while staying true to their original spirit.

Swiss percussionist Julian Sartorius and UK electronic artist Dan Nicholls team up as Clay Kin, presenting their debut record on Squama.
They had never planned to make an album yet through pure improvisation and spontaneity, Clay Kin have crafted Vevey. An album of seven tracks, distilled from over seven hours of improvised percussion and electronics. Recorded mostly outdoors––on pedalo boats, up mountains and deep in forests near the namesake Swiss town of Vevey, it is imbued with the soft fascination of birdsong, rushing water and chattering children.
Vevey resists genre. As musicians, Sartorius and Nicholls bridge the divide between acoustic and electronic soundscapes. Sartorius’ raw, organic percussion interweaves with Nicholls’ keyboard-triggered samples and harmonic landscapes, creating a dialogue where the lines between rhythm, melody and noise dissolve. Clay Kin identify their outfit as an audio-visual collective, with visual artist Lou Zon (Louise Boer) rounding out the group, creating videos to accompany both the recorded music and the live experience.

This was Don Thigpen's first recording as an artist, but he was no stranger to the studio. In fact he was the individual behind many heavy tunes that came out of the Jackson area. He and good friend Sam Anderson also cut a record on his CJR labelb (Capitol Jackson Records) called "Shirley Baby", also a highly coveted record if you got a copy to sell or record let us know). The name "LEO" became Dons preforming pseudonym. Leo was also his zodiac sign, which he deemed edgy enough to marquee this electro heavy track "Fee Fi Fo Fum". The inspiration for the song came from the computer craze of the 80s. Much like Zapp & Roger's track "Computer Love" an inanimate object is worshipped and then romanticized by a love affair. The song literally depicts a computer falling in love with a woman and attempts to communicate with her by seductively flashing the words "Fee Fi Fo Fum" on the screen.

Following a string of a successful string of collaboration albums with V Don and Harry Fraud, and after dropping his 3rd album "Charlie Pope" back in July & being sentenced to 7½ years in prison a few weeks later due to witness tampering, Dark Lo releases his 4th full-length outing from behind bars produced entirely by Havoc. Featuring guest appearances by Styles P and Vado, and an exclusive artwork illustrated by Roman artist Claudio Scialabba.

DeWolff veröffentlichen Vinyl-Re-issue ihres 2023er Albums Love, Death & In Between
Am 3. Februar 2023 veröffentlichten DeWolff ihr Erfolgsalbum 'Love, Death & In Between. Nun erscheint das Album in einer Vinyl-Neuauflage im limitierten Green Marble Look.
Aufgenommen wurde das Album im Kerwax Studio in einem keinen Dorf in der Bretagne.
„Wir dachten damals, lass uns auf ein Abenteuer gehen“, sagt Pablo. Im Nordwesten Frankreichs gelegen und von Wäldern umgeben, zogen sie sich für zwei Wochen in das Wohnstudio zurück, umgeben von Vintage-Aufnahmegeräten aus den 1940er bis 1970er Jahren.

Die Brüder Pablo (Gitarre/Gesang) und Luka van de Poel (Schlagzeug/Gesang) sowie Robin Piso (Hammond/Wurlitzer) nahmen live und ohne Overdubs auf und wurden bei den Aufnahmen von einer Reihe von Freunden unterstützt. DeWolff verließ die Bretagne mit zwölf Songs auf vier Bändern. Mit einer Mischung aus Al Green, Sam Cooke und John Steinbeck haben sie einige ihrer gefühlvollsten und zugleich mitreißendsten Songs geschaffen.

This new opus is rooted in smooth Detroit house, high-energy disco-funk, the wild nights of Paradise Garage and the unique ambience of Bronx block parties.
The Aktshun duo, formed by Marotti - producer and creator of electronic instruments - and Marrrtin - DJ, graffiti artist, producer and member of Funky Bijou -, unite their passions for house, disco, hip-hop, funk and musical illustration to offer a rich and captivating sonic experience.
The first track, “Light Headed”, featuring the American singer Saucy Lady, priestess of modern funk, who has collaborated with E Live and J-Zone, among others, blends frenzied percussion, warm Fender Rhodes chords and a heady melodic chorus, ideal for rocking dancefloors this summer.
“Respect” offers a hybrid fusion of house and disco, where we imagine Moodymann crossing paths with Chromeo, buoyed by a hypnotic Moog solo.
“Vibration” pays homage to Loleatta Holloway and her iconic ‘Love Sensation’, evoking David Mancuso's legendary evenings at the Loft, between gospel and dance.
“Brokjazz” has a deep house vibe, blending tropical vocals with bewitching sensuality.
“Chaussette” offers an irresistible jazz-funk groove, while ‘Gonalate’ is inspired by classic disco-funk sounds, with a piano reminiscent of the legendary compositions of bands such as Change, D-Train and West End Records legends.
Finally, the cover of this new E.P. is signed by Brazilian artist NIHAO, bringing a unique and colorful visual touch to this musical creation.
