The Best Of The 12" Mixes, which compiles extended 12-inch versions and remixes by legendary producers Paul Hardcastle and François K, was first released on CD in 1992. Now, for the first time and exclusively for Record Store Day, Unidisc presents the collection as a double LP pressed on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl.

Losh is a series of parties held at the magical Chapala lake in Ajijic and Guadalajara, Mexico, aimed at preserving the essence of underground sound and its culture. The event has hosted performances by artists such as Satoshi Tomiie, Shonky, Priku, Arapu, Markus Nikolai and more. Now, Losh is exploring new horizons with the launch of its own vinyl label. Producer and bassist Huw Marc Bennett presents ‘Tresilian Bay’, a new project that draws from artists such as Tim Maia, Augustus Pablo and Idris Muhammed as much as the jazz scene and community he has found in south-east London. The languid, sultry sound fuses both modern and vintage, travelling from South London electronica, to Brazillian groove, Nigerian Afrobeat and Ghanaian Highlife along with a streak of Welsh psychedelia.

‘Tresilian Bay’ is a nod to hedonistic summer nights, whether spent on the Glamorgan coast or the hot Lewisham streets. The album is titled in honour of the bay near where Huw grew up, an area steeped in stories of ancient Welsh royalty, smugglers and pirates.

The album started out as a lost live session recorded at the Total Refreshment Centre studios, featuring Chelsea Carmichael (sax), Rosie Turton (trombone), Shirley Tetteh (guitar) and Jake Long (drums) with Huw at the helm on bass and compositions. With glorious vocal contributions from Miryam Solomon; Huw utilised his human style of production and multi instrumentality heard in his Susso project (Soundway Records, 2016) to mold these recordings into this mature and emotional debut.

The album was mixed and mastered by Albert's Favourites co-founder Adam Scrimshire with artwork by Jonny Drop.

This journey officially debuts with a Various Artists EP that perfectly embodies our sonic research, transcending musical genres and form to focus on pure feeling and connect to a timeless energy.

Opening the EP is Dismal with Holocryptic Woods, a 'psychedelic jungle' progressing vortex that challenges perception. Following is Little Sea with Jaguaro, a journey that evokes the golden-age aesthetic of progressive trance, balancing hypnotic structures and organic references to nature.

On the B side, Rambal Cochet presents Unreal Engine, a dark ritual at 135 BPM where Memphis rap meets acid spirals and neon atmospheres. Closing the VA, Electrodynamique delivers Ezo, an immersive electro trance dedication to the magic festivals’ nights feelings, rounding out the mosaic of identities of this project.

Veröffentlicht als Teil von Boomkats ,Documenting Sound"-Reihe war diese Veröffentlichung eine Offenbarung, die über die hochintensiven Hard-Drum-Kracher hinausging, die über Livity Sound, Nervous Horizon und sein eigenes Label Sumac erschienen waren, hin zu einem eher ambienten Ausbruch seiner markanten Percussion und gewundenen Maqam-Melodien. ,Please" ist ein noch intimeres Werk, dessen Cover eine Nahaufnahme von Beeler zeigt , der in der einen Hand eine Tasse Kaffee hält, in der anderen seine Habseligkeiten. Handy, Schlüssel, Tabletten, Tiger Balm. Es ist eine zutiefst persönliche Darstellung des Alltags, die die gemächliche emotionale Resonanz der Trackliste des Albums widerspiegelt. Ein melancholischer Ambient folgt auf das verzierte Dahintuckern von ,Seven Eight, Too Late", das von Downtempo-Atmosphären heimgesucht wird. Das sanft groovende Klavier, die Gitarre und der Bass des Abschlussstücks ,Traffic" verschmelzen mit dem organischen Nachhall und Verklingen von Raum und Zeit. ,Ich fühle mich nicht ganz wohl dabei, diese Tracks zu veröffentlichen. Ich fühle mich verletzlich", sagt Beeler, der Smalltown Supersound-Labelchef Joakim Haugland als entscheidend für die Verwirklichung von ,Please" würdigt. ,Ich bezweifle, dass diese Demos jemals von jemandem gehört worden wären, wenn er sie nicht aus dem Ordner geholt hätte." Die schwülen Keyboard-Improvisationen des Albums bei Höhepunkten wie ,Right On Time", ,Pa700" und ,Open Era" sind eingebettet in eine Mischung aus schwankenden Found Sounds und mikrotonalen Läufen. ,Bei einigen Songs spiele ich auch einfach nur Keyboard über einem Loop, den ich erstellt habe. Da gibt es nicht viel Produktion oder Glanz, hinter dem man sich verstecken könnte", erklärt Beeler. ,Gerade diese Tracks wirken ziemlich roh." Diese behutsamen Schritte außerhalb von Beelers ästhetischer Komfortzone aus Kontrolle und Funktion hin zu ungefilterter Offenheit erzeugen eine spannende Spannung. ,Please" nähert sich gekonnt jenem schwer fassbaren Punkt zwischen Distanziertheit und Sentimentalität, wo das Alltägliche, das Spezifische und das leicht Absurde auf das Tief empfundene und aufrichtig Bewegende treffen.

Nia Archives returns with Emotional Junglist, an album about love – but not just the shimmering romantic parts. Written throughout 2025 – a year that saw Nia fall in, and horrifically back out of, love – each track will encompass something of the experience.

Marking her biggest sonic leap to date, her alt-jungle sound honed alongside James Ford (Arctic Monkey’s, Blur), Ethan P. Flynn (FKA Twigs, David Byrne) and Julia Michaels (Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter), will see her flirt with everything from dewy-eyed indie pop and nineties electronica, underscored by the syncopated beats and thudding basslines of her jungle roots with a tracklist that features Jorja Smith and Sampha.

The motif for the album is a shell – tough on the outside, but through pressure, maturation and resilience, something precious is built within. Nodding to the female form, the spiral chamber also symbolizes growth and self-development.

FLO are leading the modern revival of the British girl group — and doing so at a scale not seen in over two decades. Comprised of Renée Downer, Stella Quaresma and Jorja Douglas, FLO’s story is one of intention, craft and deep-rooted connection. The trio had long been aware of one another through theatre school circles, social media and shared creative worlds before coming together as a group in 2019. That early familiarity quickly grew into a sisterhood, shaped behind the scenes through years of studio work, vocal development and trust. The concept reimagines the club not just as a place of nightlife, but as a site of release, confession and self-possession — encompassing the moments before, during and after the night out. From mirror affirmations and pre-game chaos, to late-night Uber conversations, dance-floor catharsis and the clarity of the morning after, Therapy At The Club captures how women process desire, heartbreak, confidence and healing in real time, together. It is both fantasy and reality: cinematic, fashion-led and emotionally raw, grounded in sisterhood as a form of survival.

Sonically, the new music leans into dark, euphoric R&B and pop with sharper edges, built on vocal mastery and diaristic storytelling. Skyjack — the borderless five piece band spread across South Africa and Switzerland — announce their fourth studio album, Let The Sky Open Under Your Feet, out 3rd July.

Recorded in December 2025 at a secluded studio outside Stellenbosch, South Africa, the album captures the vibrant live energy of the band at its most expansive — drawing together free improvisation, South African jazz traditions, chamber music, kinetic groove, and ecstatic collective interplay into a singular body of work.

“This record is a very articulate representation of our sound, having grown deep roots into the earth with high branches reaching upward and outward”, says bassist Shane Cooper. “My desire is always to create sonic universes that can envelope the listener.”

The album’s title comes from a line in a poem by the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi, reflecting the music’s balance between groundedness and transcendence. Here, Skyjack move fluidly between meditative improvisation and lush orchestration across twelve tracks of free-spirited, cosmic journeying. Inspired both by the cultural traditions and natural environments of South Africa, Let The Sky Open Under Your Feet is a testament to the band’s intuitive connection and innate musical curiosity.

It arrives just over a year after Light Cycle (2024), a short gap that reflects the momentum built on tour. After exchanging sketches remotely across two continents, the band reunited in Johannesburg in late 2025, workshopped the new material onstage across South Africa, and then headed directly into the studio, where much of the album was recorded live in first takes — preserving the looseness and unpredictability central to Skyjack’s sound.

Comprised of Kyle Shepherd (piano), Shane Cooper (bass), Jonno Sweetman (drums), Andreas Tschopp (trombone), and Marc Stucki (saxophones), Skyjack first formed in Cape Town in 2013 during a fertile moment in South African jazz, as a new generation of musicians pushed against rigid genre definitions and opened the music outward toward broader sonic possibilities. Over the past decade, the band has built a singular sound drawing equally on South African groove traditions and European improvisation.

Individually, the members move between jazz, electronic music, film scoring, rock, hip-hop and experimental composition, with collaborations spanning artists including William Parker, Lionel Loueke, Zim Ngqawana, Ben LaMar Gay, Jorge Rossy, Shabaka Hutchings, William Kentridge, Makaya McCraven and Sylvie Courvoisier.

Since their self-titled debut in 2015, followed by The Hunter (2019) and Light Cycle (2024), the group has developed a reputation for immersive live performances and music that continuously reshapes itself in motion — rooted in what they describe as “warm menacing African grooves,” while refusing fixed stylistic borders.

Casimir Liberski reimagines the golden era of video game soundtracks with jazz versions of Zelda favorites The Legend of Zelda (1986), A Link to the Past (1991), Link's Awakening (1993), and Oscarina of Time (1998) - plus a few Easter eggs! Dancing between nostalgia and avant-garde, the Brussels-born pianist and composer crafts a sonic world of pixelated folklore where melody and improvisation coexist in harmony.

Josh da Costa's "New Wave Graveyard" ist ein Solo-Debüt, das die Vielfalt der Underground-Musik feiert und sich dabei eine eigene Nische schafft. Über fünf Jahre entstand "New Wave Graveyard", das weit mehr als nur das im Titel erwähnte Genre der späten 70er/frühen 80er Jahre umfasst - von Flying-Nun-Compilations über den Glam-Rock von Sparks und Japan, Art-Pop von Prince und Yoko Ono bis hin zu Power-Pop, Electro, Britpop und Shoegaze - allesamt aus da Costas umfangreicher Plattensammlung. "New Wave Graveyard" mag zwar vom Genre der 70er und 80er Jahre inspiriert sein, das dem Album seinen Namen gibt, doch ist die/der New Wave nur eine(r) von vielen musikalischen Einflüssen von Josh da Costa. Das Album ist ein wunderschöner Mix aus Stilen und Ideen, von Glam bis Shoegaze, allesamt geprägt von Joshs vielseitigem Geschmack. Mit geistreichen Texten und einer Fülle eingängiger Songs ist es ein mitreißendes Statement eines vielversprechenden neuen Künstlers, ein komplettes Soloalbum, für das da Costa alle Songs und Texte selbst geschrieben, nahezu alle Instrumente gespielt und das Album selbst gemischt hat. Gemastert wurde es von Heba Kadry (Björk, Panda Bear, Blood Orange), das Albumcover stammt von Robert Beatty (dem legendären Künstler hinter den Plattencovern von Tame Impala, The Weeknd, Mdou Moctar, Oneohtrix Point Never und vielen mehr).
