Deodato's "Whistle Bump" remixed by Joaquin Joe Claussell should not be mistaken for one of his highly sought after Edits & Overdubs Series. Whistle Bump is a full on remix produced directly from the actual multitracks resulting in a. stunning extended version that breathes new life into the piece while staying true to the original composition. This carefully crafted remix extends to almost 14 Minutes. The record is housed in a special Japanese thick Cardboard Jacket along with the Promo one sheet mimicking the special Warner Disco 12 inch Promotional Copies from back in the heyday of Disco Promos. Tested for several years on dance floors across the globe, the record is finally here.

Mexican enfant extraordinaire Iñigo Vontier is rolling in with his debut EP for Feines Tier and it’s a match made in heaven. Just judging on the name alone, as he seems to be from some kind of royal Tier family descent. But enough with the mind-numbingly bad puns and on to some brain-meltingly good music.

House music doesn’t get much funkier than Demuir’s ‘New spirit’ EP. Whether it’s the classic sampling on the title track – an homage to his mother-, or the rolling funk bass and vocal chops on ‘Ain’t no stoppin’ ‘, Demuir brings an unstoppable groove with his 2nd release on Heist.

The man behind so many great house records has kept himself rather busy with building his own fanbase, openly debating the role that big platforms play and the firm grip they have on talent. Rather than conforming to the standard route, Demuir chooses to navigate the winding road of building his own following through his production classes, engineering and music releases through artist-first channels like Patreon.

His recent move from Toronto to Chicago feels perfectly in line with the sound Demuir is bringing forward on his first record on Heist since his 2019 classic ‘Werq, feel, gruv, vogue’. Those 6 years were well worth the wait: The ‘New spirit’ EP is a perfectly-balanced mix of creativity, confidence and character. The Demuir sound is instantly audible throughout the release and he’s not afraid to make bold choices. Each track has its own identity, its own place on the record and it’s one of the things that make this record stand out in the best way possible. The forward-leaning grooves, the tight mixing and the classic use of soulful samples are a treat to listen and dance to. There’s hints of the 90s New York sound (New Spirit), soulful disco-tinged grooves his new home-town is known for (Ain’t no stoppin’), lean-back and summery melodic grooves (No minions allowed) and deep, bassheavy dubby grooves (Whatchu want is all I got) to remind everyone that Demuir is an absolute master of modern day house music.

The Argentinian punk-noise-queer combo Blanco Tet ais back with a new album from the underground scene of Buenos Aires. La debacle de las divas is a raw, satiric and emotional album about capitalism"s obsession with youth, and the burnout of always having to keep yourself "new." It dives into the sounds of pop and rock, noise, no wave and even metal and grunge, and it"s a record for the working-class divas, the Flixbus divas - too broke, too tired, too late, but still loud. Recorded live in one room, no overdubs, no edits-just the urgent chaos of cables, bodies and feedback. It"s danceable, glitchy, and full of heartache and rage. Fuck meritocracy. Fuck techno-feudalism. This is survival music for the ones paying subscriptions to platforms that censor them. La debacle de las divas is a shelter and also a call to arms for outdated divas.

A true embodiment of Brazilian Boogie, this is the first official reissue of Brylho's album, founded in Rio de Janeiro in 1978 as Brylho da Cidade. The group was influenced by the Black Rio movement of Tim Maia, Cassiano, and others. Members included Arnaldo Brandão (vocals/bass), Paulo Roquette (guitar), Cláudio Zoli (guitar/vocals), Robério Rafael (drums), Bolão (percussion), and Ricardo Cristaldi (keyboard). Claudio Zoli stands out as an important funk artist of the 1980s, during a time when Pop Rock bands dominated the Brazilian music scene. This album features one of the biggest hits of 1983: the soulful reggae groove "Noite do Prazer." Often described as Rio de Janeiro's answer to George Benson's "Give Me the Night," it's a timeless classic that bridges funk, soul, and Brazilian grooves. On "Se Você For a Salvador," a sun-soaked, feel-good boogie track, younger generations have embraced a new term to describe the sound: Brazilian City Pop. The record also delivers dancefloor heat like the stomping "Jóia Rara," the vibrant soul-reggae fusion "Destrava Maria," the ahead-of-its- time rap-funk hybrid "Cheque Sem Fundo," and the electrifying samba-reggae "Pé de Guerra," rich with Bahian rhythms and energy. Closing out the album are two under-the-radar jazz-funk gems: "Meditando" and "171." Though often lumped into the boogie category, these tracks lean more toward the sleek 1980s jazz-funk sound, reminiscent of UK acts like Level 42.

Originally released on Shoebox in 1993, this wonderfully pink piece of vibrant vinyl comes with two hardcore/proto-jungle bangers made by SDR & Subsonic who also own Shoebox. They are also the artists behind the Digital Pressure release on A Guy Called Gerald’s label Juicebox (keep it locked to Vinyl Fanatiks in 2024 for this one).

This release has been sought after for a good number of years with the usual high-ticket price on Discogs. But now the opportunity is here to grab a copy at a fraction of the price with some saying it is also a better sounding release compared to the original pressing.

Growing up on the north Atlantic island of Iceland bestows one with an unusual and often intense relationship with light and colour: Summers come with endless days, Winters with scant sunlight yet increased sightings of the Aurora Borealis; the mysterious and awe-inspiring glow across the sky. Channelling these energies, Exos
comes to Tresor with his Green Light EP, a five-track collection of the sort of spectrally rich techno synonymous with the Northman’s 27-year career.
Across the EP, the five tracks fizz and pulsate driving ever forward, making the release’s title a three-way play on words referencing the continuous travelling of photons, the verdant warping of the Northern Lights, and the universal colour for Go, for forward propulsion. Smart wordplay can also be found in titles like Grátt Silfur, a term in Íslenska (literally “grey sliver”) which signifies a tension between two parties, further extending the colour metaphor and dark/light dichotomy found elsewhere.
The digital release comes with three extra tracks that continue the dynamic energy, pushed along by the same shifting, mutating force where the music often feels like voices calling out from the darkness or the shimmer of light as the sun rises across the horizon.
Green Light EP continues this year’s blazing return from an artist who, similar to his output, is never stagnant: ever changing form yet ever moving forward.

Following on from the single release of ‘Intentions’, Soul Quest is pleased to present a myriad of remixes alongside a resonating live version of the original cut - and in doing so, serving up a package of lively renditions that add further to the label’s soulful sound.

‘Intentions’ in its original guise was the result of a joint musical adventure from label head Max Sinal, producer and longtime collaborator Kingcrowney, and vocalist Liv East. The track is Soul Quest to its core, with simmering and emotive chords interlaced between a softly spoken yet impactful rhythm section. East provides some inspired vocal work up top, her angelic voice floating through the breeze, shining light on all corners, as the totality of the musical package gives over only the most heartfelt and joyful feels. It seems only fitting that the original track be explored and reconsidered by some of the finest producers currently going, and with this remix album, you see all sides of ‘Intentions’ possible. Up first comes producer extraordinaire Frits Wentink, who takes the atmosphere firmly into the clubbing sphere. Wentink breaks down all the elements with razorsharp precision, drawing focus to the central progression by adding in new, repeating chordal elements that revolve around the kicks. As the track shifts through the gears, lines emerge and grow in stature, with plenty of time for breakdowns to get that full dose of the original’s emotive brilliance.

Dallas based deep house legend, JT Donaldson features next with not one but two remixes, the first of which retains the forward progression of the original but adds in some exciting elements. The addition of the driving bass line gives depth to the undercurrent, with stripped-back sections allowing the flow to meander through some very profound atmospheres. The ‘Dub’ version strips back East’s vocals to draw more focus to the groove and melodic sequences, and as a flip side to the first remix, the duo encapsulates all that could be wished for in a soulful house number.

Flying Moth is up next, with his spin consisting of a more hypnotic approach, with skipping broken drums creating melodic pools and caverns. East’s voice echoes through space and time, enticing further escapism as the track grows and morphs with each passing minute - a beautiful saucerful of sound that is oh so intoxicating.

Finally, to wrap things up, the live version lands to take the energy down to a beautiful canter. The rhythm section takes the form of a full percussive outlay, which speaks gently amidst a sea of exquisite guitar licks, breezy chords, and brass. East is the star of the show here, her voice the anchor within the ever-evolving backing section, which drifts and lulls with a wondrous effortlessness.

The project captures Josh’s signature blend of sharp wit, undeniable Mancunian cadence, and layered references that land harder for those from the North West. It’s the next step for an independent artist who has never signed a record deal yet has amassed millions of streams across tracks like Paul Scholes, Own Ting (featuring Eliza and Jesse James Solomon), and the Skepta-produced, Cigaweed.

This is the first full-length project Josh has released since supporting Danny Brown on tour, an opportunity that saw him sharpen his already unruly stage presence under the mentorship of one of rap’s most unpredictable voices. Garfield (track 8), incorporates a genuine jazz breakdown—an unexpected but fitting evolution from the days of sweaty, beer-stained basement shows that were a rite of passage for a young Black Josh. The production across the tape reflects Josh’s versatility, with tracks produced by Blah mastermind Lee Scott and longtime collaborator Sumgii.

With YSL Bootleg, Black Josh once again proves that his music is on his own terms—crafted with his peers, rooted in Manchester but designed to travel far beyond.

Temple Fang is a rare breed of band - one that refuses to compromise in an increasingly cutthroat and number-obsessed music industry. Formed in 2018 in Amsterdam, the band hit their stride in 2019 with acclaimed Roadburn performances and a reputation for electrifying live shows across Europe, all before releasing a single track. With alternating lead vocalists, dual harmonizing guitars, and a rhythm section powered by pure psychedelic energy, Temple Fang quickly became a phenomenon in the heavy-psych underground. Though always leaving live viewers in awe of their performances, the band struggled against internal fractures and external forces, all stalling efforts to create their vision of a proper studio album. This fueled speculation that Temple Fang"s live sound was too in-the moment, too whimsical, too untamed to be properly captured in a studio environment, something the band never themselves believed to be true, quite the opposite. It just would require the right set of circumstances. Fast forward to 2025 as Temple Fang is ready to release "Lifted from the Wind" on Stickman Records. A record they themselves consider to be their true debut studio album. On this sprawling double record Temple Fang appears, for the first time in their existence, fully formed: fierce and strong, hard rocking yet elegant, with 20+ minute psych freak-outs and prog ballads side-by-side. The Reds, Pinks & Purples is a San Francisco indie band led by Glenn Donaldson (The Ivy Tree, Skygreen Leopards, Art Museums and Painted Shrine). Set to a soundtrack that swerves between the dark days of Television Personalities and Byrdsian twang to the Jarvis Cocker-styled rhetoric and vocal tenderness of 'Richard In the Age Of The Corporation' with hints of everything from Husker Du's fuzzed splendour to the chiming majesty of The Chameleons it's an empowering listen. The pathos and irony of the glorious track 'The World Doesn't Need Another Band' sets out the band's store, it's a measured and quietly outspoken rant at lacklustre opposition peppered with a gorgeous guitar break. Meanwhile, 'I Only Ever Wanted To See You Fail' rumbles with an Eddie And The Hot Rods pre-punk riff before dissolving into a tale of self-doubt and remorse, bemoaning others' good luck. 'Toxic Friend' is from the book of the TVP's Daniel Treacey with an upbeat chorus that smacks of all that was good in old school indie in a hail of fuzzy logic and guitars. From humble beginnings as a home recording project, The Reds, Pinks and Purples has blossomed into a sporadic live unit with tours on both sides of the Atlantic and appearances at Pitchfork Fest London and Woodsist Fest as well as support slots for indie legends such as Destroyer, Guided By Voices, and The Feelies.
