Gentle Ben and His Sensitive Side is now Gentle Ben and His Shimmering Hands: a new line-up means a new album! Here's the new line-up: Ben Corbett (aka Gentle Ben, vox in SixFtHick), Tony Giacca (bass in SixFtHick, guitars in GB&HSS), Dan Baebbler (guitars in SixFHick, bass in GB&HSS) and Jhindu-Pedro Lawrie (drums). "Brut" is how the album is titled and brut it is! The band creates create music of a rare and savage beauty. Terzo is the third album by Il Sogno Del Marinaio, the avant-rock trio formed by legendary bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen, Firehose, Stooges), cult Italian experimentalist Stefano Pilia (Massimo Volume, In Zaire, Afterhours, Rokia Traore) and drummer Paolo Mongardi (Zeus, Fuzz Orchestra, Fulkanelli). This new batch of recordings is an incredible document of a band that’s creating their own path, ascending to new heights while bending the traditional
rock format.

"Berlin is the Spanish TV series created by Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato for Netflix. It serves as a prequel to Money Heist/La Casa de Papel, focusing on Andrés de Fonollosa, aka “Berlin”. The story goes back his golden age before the events of Money Heist, where Berlin and a masterful gang gather in Paris to plan one of his most ambitious robberies ever. The series features an original soundtrack by Lucas Peire and Frank Montasell. The album also contains the main theme “Bullets and Flowers” performed by Francis White and Nikki, and tracks by Samantha Siqueiros, Pipo Romero, Pedro Alonso, Tristan Ulloa, GOA, and POL 3.14. The romantic side of Maestro Morricone contrasts the dramatic side of Thriller and Crime genre where dissonances always dominate.

For TIE ME UP! (1989) Morricone composed a delicate love theme for his one and only collaboration with the great Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar.

For FOR LOVE (1976) he created a motif for piano and orchestra as a back- ground to a love triangle.

The first sexual experiences of a teenager with older women at the end of the war in DISOBEDIENCE (1981) are accompanied by piano, strings and oboe.

“Desperate love theme” from MAKING LOVE (2000) is a very nostalgic classic tune for violin and orchestra. “Per le antica scale (Preludio)” from

DOWN THE ANCIENT STAIRS (1975) is a captivating, slow and sensual, love tune for piano and orchestra with a predominant flute solo.

Insatiable funk lovers rejoice! One of the most sought after top vocalist/songwriter Lee Wilson who’s known to dominate house music dance charts week after week delivers this time a boogie banger “Do Better”. Following Far Out’s reissue of Agustin Pereyra Lucena Quartet’s La Rana, the label continues its memorialisation of the late, great Argentinian guitarist’s music, with the first ever direct from tape, audiophile reissue of Pereyra Lucena’s self-titled debut album from 1970.

One of the outstanding South American guitarists, Agustin Pereyra Lucena commanded a unique position in Latin music history. He hailed from Buenos Aires, but was obsessed with the music of Brazil. A disciple of Antônio Carlos Jobim, Baden Powell and Vinicius De Moraes, the nature of Agustin’s Argentinian roots combined with the nurture of Brazil and its music to give Agustin a sound entirely his own.

After being scouted in a nightclub, by musician and guitar craftsman Jorge Demonte, Agustin was invited for an audition at Argenitinian label Tonodisc. Before he knew it, aged 22, he was in the studio recording his first album.

Agustin enlisted fellow Argentinian Brazilophiles Mario "Mojarra" Fernandez who played bass and drummer Enrique "Zurdo" Roizner. He had first heard the duo backing Vinicius de Moraes, Toquinho and Maria Creuza on their legendary La Fusa live album, also recorded in Buenos Aires. For vocals, Agustin brought in his old friend, a French teacher called Helena Uriburu, who at the time had (unbelievably) never sung in a studio before.

The atypical bossas and spiritual swinging sambas, composed by many of Agustin’s aforementioned heroes, were elevated to new heights by Agustin’s dazzling arrangements and phenomenal guitar playing. The almost cosmic reaches Agustin achieved with his sound are balanced against the stylish sophistication and breezy nature of the music.

Moments of calm serenity include Agustin’s own composition “Nina No Divagues”, Durval Ferreira and Pedro Camargo’s “Chuva” and the Brazilian bossa classic “Tristeza Nos Dois”, which feels like it draws equally upon exotica and early library records. Accompanied by Roizner’s shuffling samba jazz drums, opener “O Astronauta” is Agustin’s cover of the Brazilian guitar standard composed by Baden Powell. Another Baden Powell classic, “Consolacao” is an extended full-band set, which features Agustin’s crisp guitar dancing around a hypnotic rhythm section. Upright bass is swapped out for a big, round-sounding electric one, which sits loud in the mix for almost seven minutes of deep, groovy, distinctively early-seventies magic.

Agustin passed away in 2019, and it is only in recent years that he is starting to gain his plaudits as one of South America’s greats. On the liner notes of the album Vinicius De Moraes writes: “I think I never saw, with the exception of Baden Powell and Toquinho, anyone more linked to his instrument than Agustín Pereyra Lucena. It would give the impression that if the guitar were taken away from him, he would fade into music as one dies from the amputation of an arm.”

Agustin Pereyra Lucena will be released on audiophile vinyl LP, CD and digitally on the 26th January 2024 via Far Out Recordings.

For 20 years, Pierrick Pedron has been recognised by his peers and the media as one of the virtuosos of the alto saxophone and a beacon of the French jazz scene, attested by his multiple awards in 2021, including Artist of the Year, by Victoires du Jazz, Jazz Magazine, Jazz News, and other publications organizations This collaboration with Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba was born out of a conversation between Pierrick Pedron and arranger Daniel Yvinec about longterm large ensemble projects that were in the early stages of planning, and that in the meantime, they should imagine an intimate saxophone/piano duo project. To approach the pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba is to approach a legend. He is one of those immense jazz pianists whom nothing and nobody can resist. Inspired by both the Afro- Cuban and Western traditions, a gifted keyboardist and counterpoint player, he soon attracted international attention and began a fruitful collaboration with the legendary Blue Note label, with which he has recorded some fifteen albums. The result is record composed of great moments of bravura where the lines fly over the written scores with obvious mastery, touching on romantic, contemporary, and sometimes even noisy music. In this "art of the duo" session, Pierrick and Gonzalo challenge each other, provoke each other, test each other, have fun surprising each other, and even try to outdo each other. Understandably, those adjectives could invoke images of kitschiness in one’s mind; that concept is smashed by the ice cold shot of Brazilian jazz riffing in the album’s opener and first single, “Se Liga Na Sequência”.

Os Barbapapas trapeze the vast richness of Brazilian/South American music heritage and beyond, as a collective with members who have variously travelled to Morocco to master Gnawa; played in circuses, or were born in the heartland of samba – these experiences and much more inform the complex yet breezy instrumentals of Enigma.

It’s a joy to pick through the notable influences that resound over Enigma. Ethiopian Jazz bursts from "Caminho para Itiwawa", backed by an Afro-Latin swing, fostered by drummer Barbara Mucciollo. There’s tonalities from North African artists such as Omar Khorshidor West African artists such as Tinriwen and Ali Farka Touré, as well as rhythmic influence from Afro-Cuban and Afro-Brazilian music. The dynamite track “(L)Atitude(S)” contains the explorative excitement of Brazilian 60s luminaries like Pedro Santos, however none are as special as layered percussion of “Gaba Gaba”, connected to the very specific rhythms of Northeast Brazil. It's evident from listening to Enigma that Os Barbapapas are an exceptional live band. They have their sights set on Europe soon, with the Glass Harp packed away safely. João Almeida (trumpet) and Pedro Melo Alves (drums), two of the most creative and prolific Portuguese jazz musicians of their generation, are MOORIS. Recorded in May 2021, right after the second lockdown in Portugal, “I” shows them freely exploring their instruments of choice but also finding and creating sound with “objects”, as they describe.

Both musicians leave behind familiar ground and use their instruments to create sounds that appear ceremonial or even manifest themselves as rituals. “+” sets the tone, dark, sparse and haunting, and the next four tracks (all on the "positive" side, with “+” added to each title) make use of the freedom proposed by this experiment with the uncanny. The “objects” start appearing, creating movement, confusion and dancing around different genres, from dark metal to industrial.

Flashes of jazz can be heard throughout, particularly on the B side (the "negative" side), with all tracks following the same conceptual logic as the A Side (“-”, “- -”, etc.). The atmosphere is clearer here. João’s trumpet ascends to a new level and creates new concepts in the fourth world realm. In a matter of seconds, it shifts naturally to somewhere else, the dense/dark atmosphere experienced on the A side becomes a distant memory and we are now flowing with the sounds, not trapped in them. A beautiful release after a tense/intense beginning.

After spending the last year constantly listening to “I”, MOORIS' debut still sounds brutal and unforgiving. A rare breed.

Sistro (Sistrum) is a kind of percussion instrument that has had several incarnations and names in various cultures since the time of the Sumerians and throughout history has always been associated with religious rituals. It’s from this relationship between music and the transcendent that Nuno Oliveira (Nuno O, Judas Triste, José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience), Tito Silva (Vasco da Ganza, José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience) and Rodolfo Oliveira (Oficinas TK) were gradually inspired to create a trio that pays homage to this instrument of ancient times.

The project was born casually and without intentionality throughout several incursions into megalithic monuments in the hills and mountains of northern Portugal, culminating in an unusual two-day session of musical experimentation in Esposende, in September 2019. In this two-day session, codenamed “Arménio Sessions”, the trio explored a sound based on sea soundscapes, electronic beats, electric noises and the strings of na altered guitar. Channeling the strength of the elements and the mystique of the place in the form of a musical experience.

In 2021, Sistro collaborated with Mario Klingemann (aka Quasimondo) who created a music video especially for the band, created using a vintage video mixing board. Then using feedback loops and a process that Klingemann calls “Neural Edit”, which uses an artificial intelligence algorithm to correlate the raw video material with the sound.

After a long period of incubation, the group's first full-length release sees the light of day on the 31th October, 2023, moment in which a sequence of rituals begins to present and celebrate the relationship between music and the transcendent. Sistro's debut album will be released by Favela Discos, having been mixed by Tito Silva and mastered by Pedro Augusto. The photography and graphics are by Oficinas TK.

Tapestry, first LP of Namas; a modern jazz band from Rennes BZH, is a self-produced piece mixing the traditional sound of a trio and modern hip-hop grooves.

It is where night falls that Namas finds his universe through dreamlike compositions, influenced both by the London jazz scene and pictorial art.

Is it really possible to create without making references? Feeling inspired without being inspired from the outer space ? With this disc, Tushen Raï comes to reconnect with his first passion, collecting records and falling in love with pieces that have unfairly fallen into oblivion, left behind, lost in the meanders of the musical hyper productivity of the 80s and 90s.

As a tribute to these unlucky melodies : he samples, he reinvents, he reconstructs. Not in the hope of giving them a second life, and without the pretention of changing their destiny. But simply to cherish them, to show them his love and his respect for what they are.
As a geographical snub, Tushen Raï chose to invite his neighbors, both producers and friends, to join forces on this trip through Peru, Finland, Italy and France. A singular record like an ode to curiosity, thought under the sign of sharing and respect.

File Under Balearic Gabba EP is the first in a new series of serious DJ tools that will encompass remixes, edits, originals and licenses, all with artwork that is a twist on the original Balearic Gabba logo by PlanetLuke. Up first is a new selection of music from core Hell Yeah artists that is unruly, impossible to define, and sure to twist dance floors inside out.

First up is Daniel Klein better known as SIRS, a Berlin-based mainstay with releases on the likes of Live At Robert Johnson. His cut of 'Super Rapido' is a dubbed-out blend of kosmiche chug and tropical percussion. Tumbling synth sequences bring extra colour as the groove builds over nine irresistible minutes.

Then comes Japanese downtempo master Calm with his Mellow Mellow Acid Dub of Sergio Messina & The Four Twenties's 'Sometimes' which is a nostalgic acid daydream and the perfect sunset soundtrack. Melancholic moods and lazy drums sink you in deep as the gentle acoustic guitars keep you afloat.

Label regular and Internasjonal and International Feel associate Feel Fly then comes through with an Estatico Danzante Remix of Pedro Bertho's 'Tornei' feat Mariana Gehring and takes us to the stars on twinkling keys, dusty breakbeats and steamy, worldly vocals that glow as warm as a setting sun.

Last of all is New York maestro and Loose Control Band member DJ Spun with his It's Rong Remix of My Friend Dario's 'Acid Mosquito in a Summer Night'. It finds him serving up a nine-minute excursion into jungle humidity with tribal percussion and jumbled bongos all run through with a spooky and primeval lead synth over lurching drum breaks.

Thundercat beschreibt ihn als „einen der größten Musiker von Los Angeles“ und lud ihn Anfang des Jahres ein, auf seiner jüngsten Japan-Tour Schlagzeug zu spielen. Im vergangenen Jahr begann Louis seine bisher größte Zusammenarbeit mit dem Grammy-prämierten Metropole Orkest, unter der Leitung von Jules Buckley, für eine Reihe einzigartiger Konzerte in den Niederlanden, die 2023 fortgesetzt werden, bevor er im Oktober dieses Jahres mit seiner Big Band durch die USA touren wird.

Als 2017 Ilgen-Nurs Solo-EP No Emotions erschien, war die junge Songwriterin schnell in aller Munde. Ihr damaliger Slacker-Sound wurde als die neue Coolness im deutschen Indie-Pop gefeiert, es folgte eine Europa-Tour und Supports für Bloc Partys Kele Okereke und Tocotronic. Für Ilgen wurde ein Traum wahr, den sie von Kindheitstagen an geträumt hatte: Mit ihren eigenen Songs auf die Bühne!

Sie gewann Musikpreise, wurde zu Features eingeladen, ihre Songs wurden für erfolgreiche Netflix-Produktionen genutzt. Ilgen brach zwei Studiengänge ab, ging von Hamburg nach Berlin. 2019 kam dann ihr Debut Power Nap raus, das sie gleich auf dem eigens dafür gegründeten gleichnamigen Label selbst veröffentlichte. 2022 dann also: Mit einer Handvoll Songs im Gepäck ging Ilgen schließlich mit ihrem Wahlproduzenten Jon Joseph in dessen Studio in San Pedro. Maximilian Barth, ihr neuer Gitarrist, flog über den großen Teich, Sessionmusiker wurden eingeladen. From small beginnings in 1974 as a local cinema and university event, Film Fest Gent has grown yearly in stature and is now recognised as one of the major destinations for the film industry. A vital component is the celebration of film music in the shape of the World Soundtrack Awards which honours the very best composers at work in the world of cinema. In 2016 the award went to one of the most brilliant composers of his generation, Ryuichi Sakamoto. This is the first overview of his remarkable catalogue of film scores, fully approved by the composer and performed by the masterful Brussels Philharmonic under the baton of Dirk Brossé. Sakamoto was already a celebrated pioneer in electronic music and composer/pianist/singer in Japan when director Nagisa Oshima asked him to write the score for Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence in 1983 and also to star alongside David Bowie. In a 30 year plus career since then he has worked with the cream of film directors including Bernardo Bertolucci (The Last Emperor), Brian De Palma (Snake Eyes), Pedro Almodovar (High Heels) and most recently Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (The Revenant). This compilation is a fitting tribute to his status as one of the greatest living musicians and film composers.

Porto-based trio 10 000 Russos will release their new 'Live In Berlin' double LP on March 24th 2023 via Rubber Duck, a new live album imprint by Fuzz Club Records. The record captures the band storming through their subterranean motorik psych-drone live at Berlin's Astra Kulturhaus on October 16th 2021. Recorded whilst out on a European tour, 'Live In Berlin' finds 10 000 Russos performing their 2021 'Superinertia' LP in full the album's five songs expanded and taken to even more transfixing and hedonistic heights in a live setting. These shows were 10 000 Russos' first with the new, more-electronic line-up and sound, with newly-recruited synth player Nils Meisel making his debut on the 'Superinertia' LP and completing the line-up alongside founding members Joao Pimenta (drums/vocals) and Pedro Pestana (guitar). Across the hour-long set, Pimenta's deadpan sprechgesang vocal and machine-like percussion, Pestana cascading psych guitar-loops and Meisel's repetitive synth basslines all combine on a performance that will pull you into a trance at times and get you on your feet at others.

Earthly Measures' second vinyl release of the year sees them team up with the talented & mystical producer & multi-instrumentalist Sidirum - bringing you Balearic & Downtempo flavours from Argentina - sounds that haven’t always been associated with his style. An EP that fills you with euphoria & nostalgia, trying to find those sounds that can take you to another time just by listening to them - as he puts it, "rhythms from the past".

For Sidirum this release is about the beauty of chance. Samples that he has found from near & far over many years of producing finally find a home. 'Donde' in particular is a special track, he says "it is the track where I found my voice again. I have not used it in a song for almost 10 years." 'Ex-Plane' is heavily influenced by his love for Reggae, which runs throughout the whole track. 'Total Interior' is a perfect dance-floor ready track - with the help of multi-instrumentalist Pedro Alvide, the track builds a musical progression that dives into perfect sunset vibes with uplifting energy - ready for a peak time festival set.

After a number of other releases, 'Iris' is an EP where Sidirum feels that he has finally found himself again musically. In a way it's a summary of the places he’s been in the past, intertwined with his ideas in the present, making for a truly unique & pleasant listening experience.

Part I
In the fight against Alzheimer's, epilepsy, schizophrenia and other diseases characterized by an imbalance in neuronal activity, there are chemical weapons, such as those that try to prevent the protein fragments known as beta-amyloid plaques from developing in the cerebral cortex , and physical, such as electrical stimulation that allow to restore the functionality of brain cells. This last resort, which has already been shown to be effective in modifying the activity of the cerebral cortex, is today a weapon of general intervention. Converting it to precision requires the development of individualized and predictive brain models that allow identifying where and how much to stimulate each patient. To achieve this, an international European team is working on the creation of virtual replicas of the most unknown organ in the body: the Neurotwin project.

According to recent research, the decrease in power in the neuronal oscillations of the gamma band of the cerebral cortex (a pattern whose frequency ranges between 20 and 50 Hertz) favors the development of protein fragments related to Alzheimer's.

Transcranial application of weak electrical currents has proven to be an effective and painless way to modulate brain activity without side effects.

The objective is to create complete computational models of the brain with real data of living beings (human patients) and that allow to anticipate and specify the effects of non-invasive stimulation techniques on neurological mechanisms.

The Neurotwin project is the successor to an initiative that encompasses many projects called Virtual Physiological Human, which was based on the idea of creating a complete model of a human being on a computer, to perform non-invasive tests at the computational level. Now the concept has been derived to "Digital Twin", which seeks not only to have an equal computational model for everyone, but to create "twin" digital models of each patient in order to be able to make personalized medicine from the genome of each individual. Specifically, in our project, we have focused on digital twin brains, which would be representations of patient brains created from data extracted with current neuroimaging and brain activity monitoring techniques.

Angel Attack delivers his debut album Divine Practicalities on his label, House of Reptile. The Boston and London-based artist blends several sound palettes, sharing his most poignant body of work to date. The album includes two remixes by Univac and Blind Delon, respectively.

The title track acts as a prelude to the album. A broken-beat,
experimental number, it dips into cinematic soundscapes and warbling percussion, which Angel Attack describes as an “introduction to summarise the emotions we are about to experience on the album.” Tightening Tension follows suit. It’s a mutation of broken techno with electro flavours over a malicious Moog bassline, featuring the vocals of French producer IV Horsemen, whose lyrics conjure a smokey, bonechilling atmosphere between skittery drums. Angel Attack dives into a metal-edged mood on Ankles, stitching distorted riffs between broken beats.

The energy is visceral. Come To Me is straight-up Japanese Horror-inspired electro, combining eerie textures with thudding kickdrums and a gnarly scream — a freaky trip at just over five minutes. Franco-Spanish author, singer, DJ and musician Pedro Peñas Robles, aka HIV+, features on Oblivion War. A sludgy, slow-burning soundscape ensues with a deluge of downtempo, hip-hop and EBM textures, complemented by HIV+’s gravelly voice. Whipping up the pace, Wrists blurs the lines between sci-fi, electro and goth. A stinging melody snakes between staccato claps and ghostly pads — lethal energy of the highest order.

Forgotten is the postlude-type track of the album, and this is where Angel Attack’s interdisciplinary approach comes to life. It’s the most piercing tune of the release, complete with a guitar melody, stripped-back drums and pagan throat chants provided by Angel Attack. An introspective offering, staying with the listener long after the record stops spinning.

Gedacht als Community-Projekt, schafft The Silhouettes Project eine Plattform für aufstrebende Hip-Hop, Soul und Jazz Künstler aus UK. Im Total Refreshment Centre in Hackney, London bietet The Silhouettes Projekt mit Tonstudio und Live-Venue einen Open Space für MCs, Sänger, Musiker und Produzenten sich zu vernetzen und Musik zu machen. The Silhouettes Project wurde 2019 von den beiden Initiatoren/Künstlern Asher Korner (aka Kosher) und Jaden Osei-Bonsu (aka Eerf Evil) gegründet. Als die beiden uns das Projekt vorstellten und die erste Musik zeigten, waren wir sofort begeistert und beteiligen uns seither als Label Partner an dem Projekt. Für die gesamte Art Direction des Projekts ist der Designer und Illustrator Sergio “SagaUno” Alférez aus Medellín, Kolumbien verantworlich. Seit September veröffentlichen wir wöchentlich Donnerstags einen neuen Song aus dem Projekt von Künstlern wie Kofi Stone, Summers Sons, Enny, KeepVibesNear, Manik MC, Lex Amor, Louis The Hippie, Summer Pearl, Joe Beard und vielen mehr.

Spurred on by emergent footage of a recent live performance, Efficient Space delves deeper into the world of Spanish shoegaze outfit Bélver Yin, now solely helmed by founding member Pedro L. Orte-ga. An intimate collection of new recordings, Para Mi Madre is a parting gift to his mother, fulfilling a promise made in her final days.

Bélver Yin’s story begins at the turn of the ‘90s, blooming from a fixation with British ethereal alt-pop (Cocteau Twins, The Chameleons, The Cure et al.). Utilising guitar, bass and drum machine rhythms to record the cathartic 1991 debut Luz Bel, their quintessentially Mediterranean angle on slow, reverb and echo-laden atmospherics found a home on fleeting label Noisex Music. Despite radio play and con-certs around Spain, lack of distribution led to the album being largely overlooked, until Efficient Space’s faithful reissue in 2020.

With this newfound interest stoking Ortega’s fire, the wealth and strength of Para Mi Madre’s expres-sive impulses will woo fans and newcomers alike. Patiently moving from pastel hues, sepia-tones and balearic nostalgia, its crystallised instrumentals give a knowing nod to the wide-eyed possibilities of youthful summers as much as they do world-weary respite. Not wallowing in gloom, the deeply per-sonal and spirit-stirring memorandum documents Ortega coming to terms with the loss of his greatest champion.

Post-rock band Ativin (Secretly Canadian, Polyvinyl) returns from a 19-year hiatus with Austere, the group’s most expansive and cinematic work to date and first album for Fonoradar (EU)/Joyful Noise Recordings (US). Eschewing the explosive and aggressive playing that characterizes their earlier work, Austere finds the guitar duo of Daniel Burton (Early Day Miners) and Chris Carothers (Hunting People, Grizzly Daughter) enlisting Chris Brokaw (Codeine, Come) on drums for a more stripped down and skeletal sound. The result is a work of beauty that will undoubtedly evoke a wide range of emotions in those who hear it. Far Out Recordings proudly presents Hermeto Pascoal’s remarkable self-titled debut album. Recorded in 1970 at A&R studios in New York, the album features certified North American titans including Ron Carter, Hubert Laws, Joe Farrel and Googie Coppola, and Brazilian stars Airto Moreira and Flora Purim (who also produced the album).

While it was Hermeto’s first album released under his own name, he had spent the decade or so prior making a name for himself in Brazil and internationally as a composer, arranger and instrumentalist with groups including Sambrassa Trio, Quarteto Novo and Brazilian Octopus, before going on to work with (amongst countless others) Edu Lobo, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Donald Byrd, Airto Moreira and Miles Davis, who allegedly called Hermeto “one of the most important musicians on the planet”.

With Hermeto’s otherworldly orchestral arrangements, ghostly vocal performances from Flora Purim and Googie Coppola, and the inimitable drumming and percussion stylings of Airto Moreira, Hermeto easily rivals some of the oft-celebrated MPB albums of the early 1970s, sitting somewhere between the string-heavy magic of Arthur Verocai’s 1972 debut and the unplacable early experimentalism of Pedro Santos’ 1968 album Krishnanda.

With his phenomenal natural musical genius and a ceaseless sense of creative freedom, Hermeto is widely known for using unconventional objects to make music. In the album’s sleeve notes, Airto highlights the track “Velório (Mourning)” explaining how Heremto filled 36 apple juice bottles with different amounts of water and tuned them to precise pitches in order to create the beguiling harmonies heard.

The reissue of Hermeto Pascoal’s Hermeto, follow’s Far Out’s recent unveiling of a previously unheard Hermeto Pascoal live concert Planetario da Gavea from 1981, and 2017’s release of Hermeto Pascoal’s lost 1976 studio album: Viajando Com O Som.

São Vicente Di Longe is Cesaria Evora's eighth album and features multiple guest appearances, including Pedro Guerra, Caetano Veloso, Chucho Valdés, and North American blues superstar Bonnie Raitt.

The album includes more Latin-tinged songs, including "Tiempo Y Silencio" where Cesaria sings in Spanish, and nostalgic torch songs, such as "Linda Mimosa" and "Negue," which finds Cesaria accompanied by the piano. The tracks are recorded with a wide range of instruments like strings, horns, guitars, percussion and even a gospel choir (on "Bondade e Maldade").

The album showcased Cornfield's knack for crafting deeply personal songs with an observational tone and witty lyric delivery. She took these heartbreakingly relatable songs on the road, playing numerous shows & festivals across North America and Europe, including opening for Pedro The Lion, Stars, Sarah Harmer and others.

On Cornfield's new album, Could Have Done Anything, she teamed up with producer and Bonny Light Horseman member, Josh Kaufman in Upstate New York, first at the stained- glass- tinted Dreamland Recording Studios, then at the nearby Isokon Studio, run by engineer D. James Goodwin (Kevin Morby, Whitney) and his assistant, Gillian Pelkonen. Kaufman and Cornfield played every instrument themselves, channeling the energy of her favorite classic records,
from Elliott Smith's Figure 8 and Jeff Buckley's Grace to Neil Young's Harvest -- albums where the listener is simply carried by the songs, and their musicians' beautiful playing. Standouts like "You And Me" highlight intimacy and absence, while "Gentle Like The Drugs" captures memories from Cornfield's spring 2022 tour with Pedro the Lion - her first time seeing sunsets in Arizona.
