Spidergawd sind klassischer Heavy Rock mit gigantischem Melodieverständnis, das teils poppige Züge annimmt. Twin-Gitarren zelebrieren dieses Melodieverständnis exzessiv, duellieren sich und feuern es an und alles steht auf einem solide klassischen NWOBHM Fundament. Für ihr achtes Album in elf Jahren Band-Geschichte haben SPIDERGAWD einen überraschenden Titel gewählt: "From Eight to Infinity" oder "From 8 to _êP". Damit beendet die Band die Verwendung römischer Titel, die sie für ihre vorherigen sieben Alben verwendet hatte. Ansonsten scheint vieles vertraut, wenn sie mit ihrem unverkennbaren SPIDERGAWD-Sound, doppelten Gitarren, dreifachen Gesang und Bariton Saxophon in gewohnt aufwändigem Album Artwork stets wiedererkennbar bleiben. Natürlich bleiben die wichtigsten Referenzen wie Thin Lizzy und Motorhead offensichtlich. Aber während "VII" sich ein wenig an 80er-Jahre-Bands wie Rush, Adrian Smith und Boston anlehnen konnte, ist "From Eight to Infinity" in seinen Referenzen eher bei AC/DC und Cheap Trick auf der einen Seite und Metallica und Black Sabbath auf der anderen. Es gibt scheinbar immer noch keine Anzeichen dafür, dass Spidergawd einen Gang zurückschalten und die Band verspricht nicht nur im Titel eine große Zukunft. All das scheint vielversprechend für die anstehende Tour. Man konnte dies aber auch schon deutlich spüren bei den Support Shows für Judas Priest, ein Band-Traum, der in Erfüllung ging.

MJ Lenderman writes songs that are amorphous and elastic, rising to fill the venue they"re in, generous to accommodate the number of players on stage, less concerned with replicating the studio version than they are with meeting the crowd where they"re at. On And the Wind (Live and Loose!), the Asheville-based Lenderman handles most of the playing, but with The Wind, it"s a multi-headed beast. Smith, The Fall formed in Manchester in 1976 and were one of the most prominent post-punk groups in the world. Since his first self-released album in 2017, Anders Buaas from Larvik has really made a name for himself in the prog-rock scene. He has previously played in several renowned Norwegian bands, worked as a producer, and was a touring guitarist for Paul DiAnno (Iron Maiden) and Tim Ripper Owens (Judas Priest). The new Anders Buaas album "Trollringen" is loosely based on and inspired by the novel of the same name by Norwegian author Sigurd Hoel - a historical saga, murder mystery and domestic tragedy inspired by a childhood discovery of an executioner's block used in the beheading of a murderer in 1833. On "Trollringen", Buaas has included songs with with lyrics and vocals for the first time. "All the songs were written between 2019 and 2025 without a concept in mind but fit the narrative of the story well. It is up to the listener to connect the dots. As I mainly focus on instrumental music, my main love and musical venture, I had some songs with vocals and lyrics that were unused. This was the time to fit them into an album. A live string section is also new to this release, as well as the use of soprano saxophone on the title track." He has brought in several internationally renowned vocalists to interpret some of the compositions on the album, including Tanya Wells, Tim Condor and Miriam Kjolen.

Trumpeter Eddie Henderson came to prominence as a member of Herbie Hancock’s Mwandishi in the early-70s after which he recorded a pair of seminal jazz-funk fusion classics for Blue Note—Sunburst (1975, and Heritage (1976)—the latter featuring a forward-looking crew with Julian Priester, Patrice Rushen, Paul Jackson, Mike Clark, Billy Hart, Mtume, and others. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is stereo, all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.

Crystal Viper was founded and has been led by vocalist, bassist and guitarist Marta Gabriel. Wytch Hazel's stellar 2016 debut Prelude confirmed these Lancastrian apprentice wizards to be Britain's most promising new hard rock band. Two years on, that promise comes to abundant fruition on II: Sojourn, an album that moves Wytch Hazel on from the innocence and exuberance of the debut to a darker, more profound and complex place, carefully wrought into optimum shape by the band's singer, guitarist, songwriter and mastermind Colin Hendra. "I'm really into the idea of an album," notes Colin. "I don't do mix-tapes, I don't listen to singles, I'm interested in albums. I want to make a good, listenable, cohesive work, that is the whole thing." Asked what inspirations were brought to bear this time, Colin has good news, and even better taste: "I was listening to plenty of Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy and Wishbone Ash last year," remarks the frontman. "This seems to be more of a hard rock album, where the last one was more rock-folk. It's definitely more rock than folk!" The most crucial influence fully expresses itself via Les Paul guitars in sweet twin harmony through cranked Super Lead Marshalls - "Exactly the same type of amp that Thin Lizzy would have used," beams Colin - a benefit of working in James Atkinson's Hand Of Law Studio, a converted gaolhouse in Leeds. "We knew there would be a lot more great gear, more amps, more options," enthuses Colin of this productive new work environment. "We were more prepared, we planned better. I had a lot more vocals to record on this album, pretty much every song has at least three harmonies, but James is a really chilled out guy, he made it easy for us. I had a very clear idea of how I wanted each song to sound, I thought about every single aspect. I probably over-prepared for this album, and it paid off!" Wytch Hazel's proud, avowed Protestant Christianity continues to set them apart from the occult hocus-pocus of their peers, and the very title Sojourn has a Biblical inspiration: "It's used a lot in the Old Testament, people would travel somewhere to stay for a short period of time," explains Colin, comparing the idea to Wytch Hazel's development since Prelude. "We're going to reside here with this sound for a while, and the next album might not sound the same. Come and have a listen to this aspect of Wytch Hazel - it's a temporary stay. We'll be here for a while, then there will be something else. I'm always writing, it's a constant stream, but I'm always trying to raise the bar, because I don't want the next album to be not as good as the other ones!"

Having spent the last half decade building up a name as a jazz and soul singer of rare distinction, Ada Morghe now presents her fourth album, 'Pure Good Vibes', which features the British reggae icon Maxi Priest A trip to Jamaica in January 2024 set 'Pure Good Vibes' in motion. Ada headed to th island after hearing that her bassist and producer Livingstone Brown, was flying the to work with Maxi Priest. It was an idea that was underlined by her desire to explo the music, culture and Jamaican heritage that had also shaped the lives of her oth band members Luke Smith (keyboard) and Josh McNasty (drums). The resulting album is a beautiful, intimate reflection on adult themes, such a keeping the passion alive, making the most of life's sweet moments and capturing th closeness of two people in love, which is underpinned by a sound that, though n beholden to Jamaica's musical traditions, certainly shares a spirit with them. The are other influences - such as Michael Kiwanuka's soulful fervour, the vibrancy of '60 R&B, and a love of Sade's 'Diamond Life'. Before stepping whole- heartedly into music, Ada Morghe was already a renowne actress and an award-winning author in her homeland of Germany. Having written an starred in the play-turned-film 'Frau Mutter Tier' and been asked to write songs for i soundtrack, she found herself working with former Prince sound engineer Han Martin Buff. That led her to Abbey Road studios in London, her debut album 'Picture and 2020's 'Box', an expression of her refusal to be tied down to any one genre o profession. From there came 2023's 'Lost', a free-flowing vocal jazz suite based on th four elements. 'Pure Good Vibes', however, pulls her toward what sounds like her most natural albu yet: sophisticated jazz and soul that deals with both the romance and reality o matters of the heart.

After over 50 events of Bristol's beloved Club Blanco, the city's anointed high priest of night, Chez de Milo, is crystallising his party's dimension-hopping hedonism into a label, calling on an extended family of esteemed producers and musicians to make it happen.

First up is Johnny Aux, aka Quinn Whalley (Paranoid London, Sworn Virgins, Decius), delivering two offerings accompanied by remixes from Jamie Paton and Chez de Milo himself.

Supersonic blends a hyperspace bassline with euphoric 90s synth elevation that delivers us to a blissful dance floor crescendo, where you've been dancing for hours—maybe days— when the sun appears over the horizon and pierces through the club's blacked-out windows. Chez de Milo's re-rub wraps you up vines of a living, breathing forest, where all your favourite flora and fauna summon you to the dappled light of a clearing, front left of the booth.

On The Train locks you into a rolling groove, and electro slaps and smacks. It feels covered in equal parts space dust and the dust of an old crate of records, where this forgotten banger has been buried deep for 25 years, waiting for the right hands to pull it out. Jamie Paton veers off down a stranger track, conducting a driving Italo beat with eerie soundscapes dissected by lasers and a brooding bassline.

As on their first EP "Mokili Na Poche" on Seismographic Records, ATELIER KAMIKAZI'S collaborative lyrics are dedicated to their spectrum of life as street kids. They struggle with the exhausting and dangerous beauty of life in Kinshasa by encouraging themselves and promising never to give up. Neither in the face of lying politics, nor in the face of a religion whose representative they call "Priest Cat's Heart", nor in the face of that great power to which they dedicate several songs, the drug called "Bomb", made from car catalyst deposits mixed with a wild cocktail of ingredients. They warn against using this drug to see "the nakedness of the turtle", because the only thing that could really be seen would be the ridiculousness of those consuming the drug. They counter that they are on a mission to conquer the future with their weapons: the weapons of speech, their knowledge and Loketo, the hip swing of dance.

Nach dem ersten Demo wagte man sich auf die Bühne und spielte in der Folge drei Alben sowie eine EP ein: "Hit And Run" (2015), "In The Night" (EP, 2017), "Hypnotized" (2018) und "Monster" (2020). Für das neue Album "Night Stalker" haben Teaser Sweet nunmehr einen Vertrag bei High Roller Records unterzeichnet. In Therese Damberg besitzen die Schweden eine Sängerin, deren Stimme an eine Kreuzung aus Acids Kate, Leather Leone und Johanna von Lucifer erinnert.

Für mich ist es jedoch selbstverständlich, dass es im Hardrock Sängerinnen gibt - es existieren ja auch genügend Bands, die nur aus Männern bestehen. Ich sehe da jedenfalls keinen Unterschied."

"Vicious Rumors are an American power metal band, originally formed in 1979 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The band was conceived by founder and guitarist/vocalist Geoff Thorpe, and has been actively recording and touring worldwide since their full-length recording debut in 1985. Their first Atlantic release was the self-titled Vicious Rumors in 1990. One of the finest moments in their lengthy career. At times sounding like hybrid of Bruce Dickinson and Geoff Tate on vocals with Judas Priest as a backing band. The band subsequently began their first full US tour—which lasted for over three months and shot their first official video, ""Don't Wait for Me"", directed by Gore Verbinski. This tour was quickly placed in rotation on MTV's Headbangers Ball. Die-hard fans will celebrate this reissue, and those who missed the boat the first time will be well-served in taking this for a spin.

Kerrigan sind eine der hoffnungsvollsten deutschen Newcomer-Bands aus dem Bereich des traditionellen Heavy Metal. 2019 in Freiburg als Nebenprojekt der Funeral-Doomer Lone Wanderer von Bruno S. (Gitarre, Bass) und Jonas W. (Gesang, Gitarre) gegründet, veröffentlichten High Roller Records 2023 das von der Presse in den höchsten Tönen gelobte Debütalbum »Bloodmoon«. Die Scheibe enterte in der metallischen Fachpresse sogar die eine oder andere Jahresbestenliste. Wegen der großen Nachfrage haben sich High Roller Records nun dazu entschieden, auch das Mini-Album »Heavy Metal 2020« wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen. Bruno S. und Jonas W. hatten im Jahre 2020 vier Stücke als Demo-Tape aufgenommen: das Titelstück “ Heavy Metal 2020”, “Intruders”, “Force And Will” sowie die Coverversion von “Rest In Peace” der englischen Wolf. Fucking Kill Records sorgten später für eine limitierte Veröffentlichung auf Kassette und Vinyl. Ursprünglich war das Material während eines Jams für die Hauptband von Bruno und Jonas entstanden, die Doom-Formation Lone Wanderer. “Mit Lone Wanderer machen wir eigentlich genau das Gegenteil von Kerrigan”, lacht Gitarrist und Bassist Bruno: “Langsam, tief dröhnend und depressiv. Da nimmt man sich spielerisch sehr zurück, weshalb sich Kerrigan manchmal wie ein Befreiungsschlag anfühlt. Es erinnert mich auch an die Jugend, als ich meinen ersten Gitarrenhelden nacheiferte.” Ein prägendes Merkmal von Kerrigan sind die teilweise doppelstimmig gespielten Gitarrenleads, die im Ansatz auch bereits auf »Heavy Metal 2020« zu hören waren. Mit “Rest In Peace” verbeugten sich Kerrigan seinerzeit vor der NWOBHM, wie Gitarrist und Sänger Jonas bestätigt: “Ja, Wolf war eine der Bands, die wir während der frühen Jam-Phasen sehr intensiv gehört haben, und ‘Rest In Peace’ ist einfach ein Überhit! An den Größen Maiden und Priest kommt man eh nicht vorbei, diese Einflüsse können wir nicht abstreiten. Neben den NWOBHM-Bands lief bei mir aber auch sehr viel Heavy Load oder frühe Accept, deren ‘Neon Nights’ in unserer Demophase wohl die teutonische Entsprechung zu ‘Rest In Peace’ war, was die Dauerschleife angeht.” Mit Sicherheit werden wir von Kerrigan in Zukunft noch viel hören. Jetzt ist es allerdings erstmal an der Zeit, sich noch einmal dem Frühwerk dieses hoffnungsvollen Newcomer-Acts zu widmen. Lehnt euch zurück, dreht den Lautstärkeregler auf und genießt »Heavy Metal 2020«.

Nach dem Erfolg von Deep Purple’s Nummer 1-Album "=1" im letzten Jahr meldet sich der legendäre Keyboarder Don Airey mit seinem neuen Soloalbum "Pushed to the Edge" zurück. Airey, der als der aktivste Musiker des Hard Rock gilt, hat auf über 300 Alben mit Künstlern wie Ozzy Osbourne, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Judas Priest, Gary Moore und Black Sabbath mitgewirkt. Unterstützt wird er von einer hochkarätigen Besetzung: Deep Purple-Gitarrist Simon McBride, Sänger Carl Sentance (Nazareth), Mitchel Emms (The Voice UK) und Bassist Dave Marks (Hans Zimmer Orchester). Ohne Tricks und Abkürzungen liefert das Album puren Hard Rock und zeigt einmal mehr, warum Don Airey zu den größten seiner Zunft gehört.

Haken-Gitarrist Charlie Griffiths kehrt mit einem Nachfolger zu seinem Soloalbum von 2022 zurück. Diesmal wählt Charlie Grif-fiths den Künstlernamen "Tiktaalika" und präsentiert "Gods of Pangaea". Das Album knüpft dort an, wo das Vorgängeralbum auf-gehört hat und erzählt von einer uralten, vergessenen Welt, die mit dem heutigen, von Menschen bewohnten Planeten kollidiert. Musikalisch ist das Album eine Hommage an die Kunst der Gitarrenriffs, deren DNA bis in die goldene Ära des Metal zurück-reicht, mit Einflüssen von Mercyful Fate, Judas Priest, Megadeth und Metallica. Charlie wird wieder von dem hervorragenden Schlagzeuger Darby Todd (Devin Townsend) unterstützt, und die Bassfrequenzen werden diesmal von Haken-Bandkollege Conner Green beigesteuert. An den Vocals wird Charlie von einigen der Besten im Geschäft unterstützt: Tommy Rogers (Between The Buried & Me), Daniël de Jongh (Textures) und Vladimir Lalić (Organised Chaos) sind alle wieder mit von der Partie und Rody Walker (Protest The Hero) steuert seine Vocals zu einem Track bei.
