Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is the eponymous debut studio album by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the musical project of American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Alec Ounsworth, active since the early 2000s in and out of Philadelphia. Produced and mixed by Adam Lasus, the album and the band rose to fame after buzz and attention built up on various MP3 blogs and a very positive ("9.0/10") review from influential music website Pitchfork. The album cover was created from a drawing by artist Dasha Shishkin and was designed, colored and lettered by group member Robbie Guertin.

Scarred For Life is the third studio album by Australian hard rock band Rose Tattoo. The album was released in October 1982 and peaked at number 11 on the Kent Music Report. Scarred for Life launched Rose Tattoo to international success with the rock anthem "We Can't Be Beaten".

On 16 August 2006, they were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame.

Auf ,Reflections Vol. 3: Water Poems" bringen Félicia Atkinson und Christina Vantzou ihre Freundschaft und ihre atmosphärische Kunstfertigkeit in einem feierlichen Fokus zusammen. Gesprochene Worte und orchestrale Fantasie fließen wie Nebenflüsse in einen einheitlichen Strom und ergeben eine Sammlung traumhafter Lieder und Klanglandschaften, die im Meer, im Himmel und in den Steinen verankert sind. Mit elektroakustischen Instrumenten, Gesang und Umgebungsgeräuschen lädt Water Poems die Zuhörer in einen unbewussten Raum ein, irgendwo zwischen alltäglicher Intimität und dem Geheimnis des Ozeans, aus dem alles Leben entsteht. Atkinson und Vantzou haben sich 2009 kennengelernt und seitdem immer mal wieder zusammengearbeitet, aber ein Konzert 2019 in der Philharmonie in Paris hat dieses Projekt richtig in Gang gebracht. Da beide jetzt an der Küste leben (Félicia am Ärmelkanal, Christina am Mittelmeer), wurde das Meer natürlich zu ihrer Muse. ,Das Meer wurde nicht als monolithische Postkarte betrachtet", erklärt Atkinson, ,sondern eher als eine Person an sich; eine Energie, ein Geheimnis, ein komplexer Charakter, dem wir als Menschen, die am Meer leben, jeden Tag begegnen." Im Dialog mit dem Land und der Küste nahmen ihre Sprache und ihre Klänge einen sakramentalen Charakter an. ,Ein feierliches Gefühl, ein Gefühl des Dienens, zieht sich tief durch dieses Album", bemerkt Vantzou, ,ich habe das schon einmal gespürt, aber hier, in der Zusammenarbeit mit Félicia, ist es stärker." Stimme, Atem und wässrige Texturen prägen den Ton des maritimen Mysteriums von Water Poems. Neu in Vantzous Praxis und seit langem ein prägendes Merkmal von Atkinsons Werk, gewinnen ihre gesprochenen Worte hier an relationaler Intimität, indem sie sich gegenseitig und die Uferpromenade ansprechen. Die Texte wurden über zwei Jahre hinweg gemeinsam zusammengestellt. Mit radikaler Unschuld lenken sie das Bewusstsein auf die verborgene Auftriebskraft und die unbewussten Strömungen, die durch das Leben fließen: ,Wie kann ein Boot schwimmen? Wie kann ein Flugzeug fliegen? Wie kann ein Körper schwimmen? Wie kann ein Mensch träumen?" Was mit nah aufgenommenen Stimmen und Feldaufnahmen begann, wurde um Synthesizer, Gongs und Metallophone, Klavier, Vibraphon, Rhodes, Gitarren und Mellotron erweitert. Das Gezeitenklavier des Eröffnungstracks ,Film Still / The Sea" zieht uns in die unbewussten Gewässer des Albums. Enthalten sind Feldaufnahmen, die Vantzou in Delphi in der Nähe des legendären Orakels von Pythia aufgenommen hat - ihr griechisches Erbe verleiht diesem Ort der Vorfahren eine zusätzliche Dimension. Dieser Track und ,Water Poems" als Ganzes sind Ausdruck unseres geologischen Erbes und rufen zum Schutz der Küsten und zu einer Vertiefung unserer Beziehung zu unseren Küsten auf. Ein Teil der Einnahmen aus dem Album geht an Arion, ein gemeinnütziges Naturschutzprogramm für das griechische Mittelmeer. Der langjährige Freund und Mitstreiter John Also Bennett hat bei ,Scorpio Purple Skies", dem kosmischen Finale des Albums, mit E-Gitarre, Lap-Steel-Gitarre und Gesang mitgewirkt. Diese üppige Instrumentierung passt super zu den Science-Fiction-Visionen und der feierlichen Atmosphäre des Albums. Water Poems wurde in The Old Carpet Factory, einem Herrenhaus aus dem 18. Jahrhundert auf der griechischen Insel Hydra, in der Villa Medici aus dem 16. Jahrhundert in Rom und in Les Dunes, Atkinsons Heimstudio in der Normandie, aufgenommen. Mehr als das historische Prestige dieser Orte war es die spürbare Geschichte ihrer Landschaft, die die Musik geprägt hat. Atkinson sagt, dass sie sich zu ,Orten mit seltsamer Anziehungskraft" hingezogen fühlten. In der Villa Medici ,haben Steine und Mineralien das gesprochene Wort beeinflusst", bemerkt sie. ,Wir beide legen Wert auf Gefühl, Atmosphäre und Klang", fügt Vantzou hinzu, ,was er hervorruft und was er bewirkt. In unserem Fall konzentrieren wir uns auf die grundlegenden Elemente: Wasser, Luft, Fels, Kosmos - allesamt lebenswichtig.» Von der Insel Kreta aus arbeitete Vantzou den finalen Mix fertig und tauschte dabei Dateien mit Atkinson aus. Immer noch mit der Küste verbunden, verlief der Mixing-Prozess geduldig und wurde von wichtigen Pausen geprägt. Water Poems spiegelt wider, was die Meeresbiologin Rachel Carson uns in Erinnerung ruft: ,Am Rande des Meeres zu stehen bedeutet, Wissen über Dinge zu haben, die so nahezu ewig sind, wie es das irdische Leben nur sein kann." Gaf & The Love Supreme Arkestra work outside conventional studio frameworks. Their music emerges from extended improvisation sessions that unfold sporadically, sometimes over several days. Built around drums, guitar, bass, modular synthesis and samplers, and expanded with vibraphone and winds (flutes, saxophone, Herreño whistle), the group continues to move between jazz, psychedelic rock and free-form experimental composition.

While Ganzfeld drew from the misty northern coast of Isla Baja, Retiro Espiritual turns toward Taganana, one of Tenerife’s most remote regions. Its isolation, Atlantic exposure and volcanic terrain inform the record’s pace and focus. The title reflects this shift: a space for retreat, collective creation and suspended time.

Sonically, Retiro Espiritual leans warmer and more reflective. Flutes drift over slow grooves, extended jams unfold patiently, and traces of 70s spiritual jazz surface throughout. The experimental core remains, now shaped by repetition, space and a calmer, sunlit atmosphere.

The anti-rockumentary ‘King Rocker’ weaves the story of Birmingham’s undervalued underdog autodidact into that of the city’s forgotten public sculpture of King Kong, eschewing the celebrity interview and archive-raid approach for a free-associating bricolage of Indian food, bewildered chefs, vegetable gardening, prescription medicines, pop stardom and pop art. „Ring des Nibelungen“ auf Vinyl. Die Einspielung mit dem Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra unter
der Leitung von Tarmo Peltokoski präsentiert die musikalischen Höhepunkte aus Wagners monumentalem
Opernzyklus, dessen vollständige Uraufführung vor 150 Jahren im August 1876 in Bayreuth stattfand.
De Vlieger formte aus den vier Teilen – „Das Rheingold“, „Die Walküre“, „Siegfried“ und „Götterdämmerung“ – eine etwa 70-minütige Orchestersuite. Im Mittelpunkt steht dabei die musikalische Dramaturgie
des Gesamtwerks. Prägende Leitmotive wie das Rheingold-Motiv, der Walkürenritt oder Siegfrieds Heldenthemen werden in einen geschlossenen symphonischen Spannungsbogen integriert. Wagners vielschichtige

This quintessentially Australian rock band is one of the main highlights of Newcastle's music scene. Written in Orange, New South Wales, back when we were all working our respective jobs in the construction industry. It pokes fun at life at work.Simple, blues-inspired themes, like working for the boss, being broke, or getting dumped by your girlfriend. Add a dash of punk and rock 'n' roll, and you get the EP "Paycheck Blues." EP "Staring at the Wall" - Where's Jimmy's second 5-track EP. The punk rock sound with bluesy undertones is more pronounced on these tracks. Pure, no-frills, high-octane noise that makes you want to get up and move.

Themes of birds and flying are woven throughout the album, which includes traditional songs such as "Peace Like a River" and "Little Bird, Little Bird," as well as favorites by Bob Marley, Lou Reed, Vashti Bunyan, and Woody Guthrie. Joined by her family, including her daughter Storey and husband and Ida bandmate Daniel Littleton, Mitchell crafts an inviting, homespun sound that draws young listeners in with its warmth and tenderness. To celebrate the landmark album's 20th anniversary in 2026, it has been reissued by Smithsonian Folkways on LP for the first time.

Chambers' Music , subtitled A Jazz Delegation from the East , was bassist Paul Chambers ' debut album as leader. Originally released in 1956 on Jazz West , it features Chambers with two his fellow bandmates from the Miles Davis Quintet, John Coltrane and Philly Joe Jones , along with pianist Kenny Drew . Featuring a wellrounded programme that includes Charlie Parker's 'Dexterity', Benny Goson's 'Stablemates, Cole Porter's 'Easy To Love', and Chamber's own composition'Visitation', the album also has the distinction of being the first record to include a composition by John Coltrane - 'John Paul Jones'

The band was founded by Miriana Santamaria (vocals and bass) and Daniel Sick (guitar), both formerly of VoodooPank. They were soon joined by Micol Ottina (drums), who was replaced in 2022 by Eugenio Bordacconi. After a period of live performances in the Macerata area and two EPs, the power trio signed with Overdub Recordings, on which their debut album "Manaus" (2024) will be released. Their influences range from the heavy rock of Pentagram to Blue Oyster Cult, from TAD to Spaceman 3. Dystopian, swirling guitars create a claustrophobic atmosphere, guided by an ethereal yet raw voice: an alternation of drawn- out, dreamlike moments and tight, relentless passages.

Futurismo are thrilled to present Give Thanks, the long out of press 1984 hardcore classic by Articles Of Faith. Produced by Bob Mould, and newly remastered directly from the original tapes, this powerhouse of a record is now coming on both LP and CD after being unavailable for decades. Originally released in 1984, the debut LP Give Thanks by Chicago hardcore legends Articles Of Faith, is proof a hardcore record can be both political and poetic. Fuelled by rage, introspection and a musical progression that could be seen as a blueprint for what would later become known as post-hardcore, this album ticks every box you want from a record of the era: intense, emotive, scathing, unpredictable, all topped off by the masterful production of Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü/Sugar). Give Thanks is perhaps overlooked in many top ten’s of the genre, but leaving the bands debut LP off that list would be a mistake. A demonstration in raw emotion and political angst, Give Thanks harnesses a sound that could have only happened during the Reagan era. Hardcore was of course a musical explosion built upon aggression and discontent, yet Give Thanks forcefully fuses this concept of raw power with a multitude of musical influences at a time when some of their contemporaries perhaps seemed to tread water. Whilst the principles and sonics harnessed on AOF’s debut album may have had more in common with the sounds coming out of Washington D.C., this record has an authentic Chicago savvy running through it, effortlessly projecting a street level tone whilst simultaneously aiming to show the possibilities of what a hardcore record could be. In retrospect, AOF’s debut was a hardcore album ahead of it’s time, perhaps the reason it’s fervent themes and artistry still feel so fresh and relevant. Whether that’s due to Vic Bondi’s gravelly tones geared to critique the societal regime at play, or the considered guitar work aimed to both blast and texturize, or the intense drums rhythms inspired by jazz and dub, there is a depth to the final album that feels like a band testing their parameters, one listen to ‘Every Man For Himself’ and you know you are listening to something special. Joseph Tholl is widely known as a Swedish multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter. He gained international recognition as a founding member and guitarist for the speed metal band Enforcer (officially leaving in 2019). Following his time with Enforcer, he formed Black Trip (later Vojd) and is currently playing guitar for Tribulation. Following 2019’s »Devil’s Drum«, »It Might Be Art« is his second solo album (and the second for High Roller Records). It was recorded and mixed at Humbucker Studio, which he co-owns with Robert Pehrsson (who’s also on High Roller Records). On »It Might Be Art« Joseph Tholl is singing, playing guitar and most of the bass, he also handles piano and synthesizer parts. Robert Eriksson (The Hellacopters) and Jakob Ljungberg (Second Sun) share drum duties on this album. Besides that, there’s a few guest appearances by musicians such as Johannes Andersson (Tribulation), Tobias Lindkvist (Tyrann), Pia Stjärnvind (Serpent Omega), Adam Zaars (Tribulation) and Robert Pehrsson (Dundertåget, Robert Pehrsson’s Humbucker). Joseph Tholl thinks that despite its broad variety »It Might Be Art« is still suitable for heavy metal fans: “I couldn’t see why not. I mean it’s not heavy metal. But I hope people will like it for what it is, a very honest and well-crafted melodic rock album.” “»It Might Be Art« is both darker and brighter than »Devil’s Drum«,” compares the Swede both his solo albums. “Musically it probably sounds a little brighter and poppy overall. But then there’s songs like ”I’m In A Darkness” or ‘The Burial’, which are very dark.” At times, influences of Sisters Of Mercy, The Cure, New Model Army and Midnight Oil can be detected on »It Might Be Art«, leading Joseph Tholl to ponder: “It’s incredibly hard to name a few bands as influences, there’s just too many. Besides those bands you mentioned, there’s a mix of grunge, heavy metal, Swedish pop/rock, AOR etc., that I mold into my own kind of rock n roll.”

Remember Sports have always sounded like a band in motion, chasing a feeling, chasing each other, sometimes running from themselves. Over the past decade, they’ve built a devoted following through bruising live shows, emotionally honest songs, and a sound that keeps evolving. Their new album, The Refrigerator (out February 13, 2026 via Get Better Records), captures the messy, cathartic energy of transformation. Written in the aftermath of the pandemic, the record is shaped by grief, uncertainty, and a deep love for music and friendship. Songs wrestle with identity, memory, and growing up, balancing bratty catharsis with tenderness and reflection. For the first time, the band produced the album themselves, leaning fully into intuition and trust as they experimented with new textures and dynamics. The result is a vivid, emotionally charged document of survival, an album about becoming, about holding space for both joy and loss, and about finding your way back to yourself through sound, care, and connection.

SML is a Los Angeles based quintet featuring Anna Butterss, Jeremiah Chiu, Josh Johnson, Booker Stardrum, and Gregory Uhlmann. Spontaneous Music Live contains two side-length pieces of unedited improvisation, recorded live at Los Angeles venue Zebulon during SML"s December 2025 three-night residency, just weeks after the release of the band"s second album HOW YOU BEEN. It was recorded and mixed live to stereo tape by Bryce Gonzales (the same engineer/wizard known for his gorgeous live captures/mixes of Jeff Parker"s ETA IVtet). Between HOW YOU BEEN and their 2024 debut SMALL MEDIUM LARGE (both of which were heavily edited, shaped and post-produced) the band has developed a reputation for records that are heavily fused, polished, and punchy. The medium is on full post-modern display on those LPs, and the band"s post-production knife can be responsible for much of the perspective - the tastiest morsels collected, arranged, and rearranged just so. But the source material from both those albums were live recordings. Longform, unwieldy, ebbing and flowing. On top of that, every performance the band has ever done has been fully improvised in that spirit. So in the sphere of live performance the band"s esteem has grown down a different path - one of linear, hypnotic, expansion. It"s a perceived split persona shared by some of SML"s most inspiring conceptual bedfellows: compare the extended madness of Can"s Live in Paris 1973 to the relative tight form of Future Days from the same year; the speed-funk chaos of Miles Davis" Dark Magus to the heavily deconstructed On The Corner or Big Fun. Spontaneous Music Live removes the curatorial perspective and pulls the curtain back on that search-pluck-reconstruct editing process. What we"re left with is the psychedelic realism of the band in situ, in their home town, collectively improvising, fully in-the-moment, mining for that moment of discovery. We hear, in macro, each nugget of sound which could be the basis for a future SML album track, spattered amongst the collective chaos-and-control like stars in the night sky.

Finnish jazz producer Valtteri Laurell reworks some of J Dilla’s most iconic beats into adventurous big band versions. With drummer/producer Teddy Rok (Teppo Mäkynen of Five Corners Quintet, Stance Bros. etc.), flutist extraordinaire Elena Pinderhughes and Laurell’s own 17-piece Ricky-Tick Big Band, he creates a big band album that you never thought you would hear. Using the sparse and visionary beats of J Dilla as a starting point, Laurell has composed and arranged material on top of the original versions, performed by Ricky-Tick Big Band. ”My original idea was to write very abstract big band moments, that would be like samples Dilla might have used in his work. During the process though, on some of the tracks I started to feel more of a Bob James or Henry Mancini vibe in the arrangements, so the end result is a hybrid of those worlds. Naturally, the spirit of Gil Evans and the later work of Duke Ellington is also floating in the air”. To create a strong connection with the original material, Laurell asked Dilla-aficionado and drummer/producer Teppo ”Teddy Rok” Mäkynen to work with him on the rhythmic side of the pieces. Teddy Rok also mixed the album. As a special guest star, flutist Elena Pinderhughes is featured on Won’t Do and Rico Suave Bossa Nova. Ricky-Tick Big Band, which Laurell founded in 2010 is also well on display here, with rising baritone sax star Linda Fredriksson featured on Beej-n-Dem and trumpetist Jukka Eskola featured on Y’All Ain’t Ready.

In "Hotel TV", einer hypnotischen, nächtlichen Träumerei, geht es darum, ,einen Sextraum über zu haben, während man neben seinem Partner sitzt, und der Partner ist ein Lügner", erklärt Pilkington. Brannten Schnüre is an experimental dark folk group out of Würzburg, Germany. Christian Schoppik composed and played all the music, Katie Rich whispers, recites and sings. Together they make astoundingly beautiful folk with a rich instrumentation leaning towards the atonal spectrum. Instrumental wanderings stand alongside Nico-esque poetry tales. Christian plays the accordeon and in some songs guitar and flute. Inspired by hierophants like Nový Svet and David Jackman, solemn song fragments (a lot of old greek rembetiko-recordings) are modified and looped, with additional instruments and voices being integrated later on. Their music has been described as 'surreal folkcollage' and 'german hauntology'.

With the emergence of Schoppik's second project, a dada cabaret called Agnes Beil in 2010, Brannten Schnüre moved closer to the song structures of its frivolous sibling. The songs of Schoppik's latest creation Sommer im Pfirsichhain are further accompanied by a female singing voice, lending the pieces the voluptuous quality of a stickily tense midsummer. Sommer Im Pfirsichhain (Summer In The Peachgrove) is the second part of a quartet of releases. The first being Aprilnacht which got released on Sic Sic Tapes last year. Part three Geträumt hab' ich vom Martinszug and part four will follow later.

Reference points are bands like Winter Family and Twinsistermoon. Music etched on folkloric, ritual elements transferred into the 21th century. Also worth mentioning is the hand-drawn artwork which is made by artist Gwénola Carrère.

Originally released in 2008. Although this album invites aesthetic comparisons to works by the likes of Philip Jeck, William Basinski, and Janek Schaefer – draped as it is in an obfuscating, soupy crackle – there’s a very specific conceptual agenda at work here.

Part of the success of »Persistent Repetition of Phrases« comes from the attention it pays to the function of »the loop«, not only as a narrative ordering system in modern music, but as a means by which the brain itself recalls and interprets information; it’s as old as recorded sound itself, but in this context the repetition of small shards of auditory information becomes an elegy to fading memory and the worn-out synapses of old age. The track titles offer signposts through Kirby’s labyrinth of faulty remembrances, pointing their way towards the peculiarities dictating the manner by which the mind stores and attempts to recover information: »Lacunar Amnesia« references a condition that leaves a specific event absent from the sufferer’s memory, and Kirby’s music sounds suitably stuck on a prelude to something that never happens.

Bathed in gusts of crackle, the piece gets stuck on what might be a start of something, but we never get to hear what. Many of the pieces refer to different ways the memory might find itself caught in a holding pattern: »Von Restorff Effect«, »Rosy Retrospection«, and the title track itself are all suggestive of reliving a single event or point in time – here, both music and memory are united by the notion of »glitch«, whereby a fault or fissure causes the replaying of the same pocket of data over and over again, but what distinguishes Kirby from so many other musicians operating within the field of loops and broken recordings is the unnerving, ghostly sentimentality that courses through this process. »Long Term (remote)« is particularly explicit in its reaching back through the first half of the 20th century, exhuming snatches of music hall romance, now warped into a sinister new form by the erosions of time. It’s like watching John Carpenter’s »The Fog« only to find that instead of vengeful phantoms emerging from the mist, it’s The Glenn Miller Band. Which is infinitely more disturbing. More eerie still is the detachment from authorship endemic to this sound – at no point do you really sense the presence of a composer’s hand; this album just... is. A remarkable thing that only seems to have improved with age (which is either highly appropriate or highly inappropriate, I can’t quite decide which), »Persistent Repetition of Phrases« is an even better fit on vinyl, a medium which itself wears and fades just as the memory does.

Lip Critic’s 2024 Partisan debut Hex Dealer was one of the most-hyped experimental releases of that year (“Like the B-52s on ketamine” -Paste) and signaled the Brooklyn band’s arrival as a borderline-batshit creative force. Theft World is their next chapter, built again from the chaos of two drummers locked in psychic combat, a sampler that sounds like it was struck by lightning, and frontman Bret Kaser’s paranoid preacher energy. But where Hex Dealer leapt from one absurdist vignette to the next, Theft World plays like a fully locked-in transmission. Themes orbit around the concept of theft, not just as a political force or digital dilemma, but as a surreal, emotional constant. Club rhythms and hardcore breakdowns pull as much from Tyler the Creator’s ‘Igor’ and Korn as they do Skrillex and Soul Coughing, coming together to soundtrack a world that’s constantly being striped apart and resold.

First time double-cassette reissue of 1987's double LP opera rock by Spain's legendary punk band Eskorbuto. "Los demenciales chicos acelerados" is a political satirical work against any kind of dictatorial regime. "Los demenciales chicos acelerados" is Eskorbuto's fourth studio album, originally released by Discos Suicidas in 1987. It was their most ambitious project, a double LP rock opera in the vein of "Quadrophenia" by their beloved The Who. It tells the story of an unscrupulous young man who wishes to achieve power at all costs, stepping over everyone and everything in order to do whatever he wants politically. In the end, he falls due to his ego and is betrayed by those around him. Hence lines such as "crowds are a nuisance", "I'll come unscathed out of the attacks planned by my image consultant" or "shouting in front of the scum". In 1988 band members Iosu and Juanma narrated the album's concept and story on a Radio Euskadi show, the Basque Country's public broadcaster. This satirical political plot also explains the controversial sleeve art, Eskorbuto were equalling the unprincipled politician of their rock opera with the Nazis and Franco's dictatorship. It's a conceptual record that attacks any kind of dictatorial political regime. The original sleeve caused some trouble, to say the least, with its combination of Nazi photos and the Spanish flag on the back accompanied by the words "Of national interest". lthough "Los demenciales..." came out on Discos Suicidas, in typical Eskorbuto fashion the band stole a copy of the master and sold it to the Twins label, which also released it a few months later with new cover art.The album contains new versions of a few previous tracks such as 'Ratas rabiosas' and 'Enterrado vivo' plus the studio version of 'Más allá del cementerio'. For the recording the band enrolled keyboardist Aitor Amezaga, who would also collaborate on their next album.

Second EP (1970) by the legendary Bolivian band Climax, recorded during their hard rock period, before evolving their sound toward progressive rock a few years later with the release of their well-known album "Gusano Mecánico". Includes a new funky version of 'Born to Be Wild' by Steppenwolf, as well as three original compositions by the band. On October 7, 1974, the now-historic "Gusano mecánico" was released - the only full-length album by the legendary Bolivian rock band Climax. Founded in 1968 from the remnants of the disbanded Los Black Byrds and the unrealized project The Turtles, Climax was formed by guitarist José "Pepe" Eguino and bassist Javier Saldías, who developed a strong bond with drummer Alvaro Córdova, cemented by their shared passion for rock. Together, they embarked on a journey of self-discovery, spending several months in the United States during a crucial period straddling the end of the Summer of Love and the lead-up to Woodstock. This period, perhaps the most significant of the 1960s Bolivian countercultural movement, saw an explosion of artistic expression driven by dissatisfaction with the society that the youth had inherited from their parents. Within this context, the influence of iconic bands such as The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Blue Cheer, and Emerson, Lake & Palmer played a pivotal role in their decision to return to Bolivia and form the country's first 'power trio'. Their early EPs paid tribute to their musical heroes. Their second EP "Born to Be Wild II" was released in 1970, it featured a new funky version of the Steppenwolf original. It also introduced the band's first original compositions and their new influences: 'Ritmo de la Vida,' an instrumental chord-driven melody with Latin jazz overtones where we begin to hear the influence of Santana; 'El Abrigo Café de Piel de Gallina,' a standard blues number that recalls 'All Your Love' by Otis Rush; and 'The Seeker,' with a Latin vibe and lyrics that include the first reference to drug use in Bolivian music. First time vinyl reissue.

Foreign Tongues, the new album from The Rolling Stones, is an incredibly vibrant 14-track collection arriving less than three years after the band’s universally acclaimed, GRAMMY-winning album Hackney Diamonds, which topped charts worldwide and achieved multi-platinum status. The new album is introduced by the upbeat and infectious lead single In The Stars.

Leading up to the announcement, the band subtly built anticipation around the project, including the limited white label release of the track Rough and Twisted, issued exclusively on vinyl under the name The Cockroaches. Circulating among fans and collectors, the release has already sparked excitement and speculation about the sound and direction of Foreign Tongues, offering an early glimpse into the album’s raw and experimental energy. Recorded during an exceptionally creative period, Foreign Tongues was brought to life in under a month at Metropolis Studios in West London, with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood reuniting with GRAMMY-winning producer Andrew Watt, who also helmed Hackney Diamonds. The result is a dynamic and forward-looking record that captures the band’s unmistakable sound while venturing into new sonic and lyrical territory—further cementing their unmatched legacy.

The album showcases standout performances from Jagger, Richards and Wood, alongside their long-time collaborators, including Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan. It also features a special guest appearance from Charlie Watts, recorded during one of his final studio sessions before his passing in 2021. Additional contributions come from an impressive lineup of guest artists, including Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Speaking about the recording process, Mick Jagger said: “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks, and we worked as quickly as we could. I like the room there because it’s not too big, so you can really feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Keith Richards added: “The album Foreign Tongues has a connection to Hackney Diamonds, and it was great to be working in London again and to have that London vibe around us. In Ensenada, Mexiko, wo der Horizont des Pazifiks eine klare, unveränderliche Linie zieht, nahmen HOLY WAVE ihr neues Album "i'm DADA" auf - ein Werk, das für die Band weitläufig und neu fokussiert wirkt. Der Schritt außerhalb ihrer Heimat USA war weniger ein Rückzug als vielmehr ein Perspektivwechsel, der Abstand schuf, um einen neuen Sound zu erkennen, der sich langsam unter ihnen herausgebildet hatte. "i'm DADA" offenbarte schnell seinen Charakter: treibender, offener Underground-Lofi-Rock und ihr bisher strukturell durchdachtestes Werk. Durch die Zusammenarbeit mit dem experimentellen Duo Lorelle Meets the Obsolete in deren Studio floss das Gemeinschaftsgefühl in das Album ein, obwohl dessen emotionaler Kern bereits in den monatelangen Vorbereitungen entstanden war. Die Hälfte von HOLY WAVE ist mexikanischer Herkunft und hat ihre Wurzeln in der Grenzregion um El Paso, sodass sich die Aufnahmen in Ensenada intuitiv und entspannt anfühlten. Die Songs spiegelten Gespräche über Vaterschaft und Partnerschaft, Trennungen und Entfremdung, die beunruhigende Beschleunigung der KI und darüber wider, was es bedeutet, präsent und prinzipientreu zu bleiben, während die Welt unvorhersehbar voranschreitet. Diese Spannung wird nicht explizit hervorgehoben, sondern geht in der Musik auf. Die Band dehnt ihr bekanntes Gespür für eine schwindelerregende Atmosphäre zu etwas Schlankerem und Direkterem aus. Es sind mehr Loops und Samples eingewoben als zuvor, Grooves, die konstruiert, zyklisch und hypnotisch wirken. Manche Tracks driften in Richtung der elastischen Weite des Dub; andere pulsieren mit filmischer Downtempo-Schwere. Das gesamte Album ist von einem frischen Schwung geprägt, von Rhythmen, die vorantreiben, von traumgetränkten Texturen, Fuzz-Gitarren und sanft schwebenden Vocals. "dewey's dirge" entfaltet sich geduldig: Verschwommene Gitarrenklänge erblühen, während darunter ein gmotorischer Puls stetig voranschreitet. Der Gesang bleibt im Hintergrund, breitet sich eher aus, als dass er explodiert. Es wirkt weitläufig und nachdenklich, eine Hymne des Abklingens, die Drama gegen Eintauchen eintauscht. "i'm DADA" hingegen findet seinen Rhythmus in einem schlanken, kreisenden Groove. Eine straffe Drum-Figur, eine Basslinie und eine abgehackte Gitarrenphrase wiederholen sich, bis sie lebendig wirken. Textlich kreist der Song um die komplizierte Hingabe ein Eltern-Teil zu sein. "s33.u.in/HAL" klingt wie eine Übertragung, die mitten in der Luft abgefangen wurde, leicht mechanisch, immersiv, ohne sich jemals vollständig aufzulösen, und fängt das zentrale Gefühl des Albums ein: den Versuch, trotz Störgeräuschen klar zu kommunizieren. Während frühere Alben von HOLY WAVE oft durch ein Gefühl des Dahintreibens geprägt waren, wirkt diese Platte nun neu geerdet. Das Album verzichtet nicht auf das Eintauchen in die Musik, sondern zügelt es. Die Grooves setzen sich fest, Wiederholungen gewinnen an Gewicht, und die Musik bleibt trotz ihrer schwereren Themen gefasst und unerschütterlich. Was dabei entsteht, ist keine Neuerfindung, sondern eine Schärfung: Holy Wave klingen weniger wie eine Band, die durch die Atmosphäre treibt, sondern eher wie eine, die diese inmitten des Chaos bewusst gestaltet.
