Detroit-born artist, Jalen Elk Star unveils his debut LP, ESIN on L.I.E.S. On the flip, Tiefschwarz’s ‘Acid Soul’ delivers a moody, muscular roller. Originally released during their prolific run on Classic in the early 2000s, it fuses baritone sax stabs, a Berlin-borne bass line, and a sultry vocal into a deeply spiritual house cut.

Roy Davis Jr. closes Side B with the propulsive ‘About Love’ (Solid Groove Remix)—a tough and driving interpretation by Dave Taylor that’s long been a DJ favourite in the Classic vaults.

Record Two showcases Classic’s more recent sonic evolutions. JT Donaldson’s return to the label in 2019 came with ‘Stay Inside’, a rich and breezy groove featuring the soulful voice of Liv.e. It’s an elegant and understated slice of modern house with timeless appeal.

Then comes Dam Swindle’s funk-charged ‘Hey Mister’. A punchy, bass-driven jam built around a 70s reggae-disco vocal sample. Raw and infectious, it’s been lighting up dance floors worldwide since its release.

Following the reissue of his debut album Dispatches, Field Records is proud to return to the seminal work of Mike Parker with an overview of his releases on Prologue — a truly original strain of steely, hypnotic techno that has touched upon many different waves within the wider scene.
Having pioneered a hard-edged, reductionist style via his Geophone label since the mid-90s, around 2010 Mike Parker found himself at the vanguard of an emergent sound alongside artists like Donato Dozzy and Cio D'or exploring the possibilities of immersive, profoundly transcendental club music. The Prologue label came to define this cult zeitgeist, where reduction and repetition took on a truly psychedelic quality and the subtle details made all the difference. It ran from 2008 to 2015, laying the foundations for the deep techno sound that remains a vital, evolving subculture in the present moment.
From Parker's first appearance on Prologue with the Subterranean Liquid EP in 2011 through to the Lustrations LP in 2013, he delivered some of the most incisive music of his accomplished career — teased-out rhythms carrying exquisitely engineered textures veering from the subliminal to the visceral, locked into endless, cyclical oblivion and maintaining a stern, machinist veneer. This collection on Field Records combs through Parker's Prologue output and makes a considered selection, gathering key pieces from the first two EPs alongside six of the album tracks on a triple vinyl pressing, alongside a further eight cuts on the expanded digital edition.
Not just a straight-forward reissue, consider Epilogue a thoughtful reframing of a key point in Mike Parker's stellar career. In every exacting pulse, every inch of tacit spatial design, it's the work of an expert sculpting a sound which remains influential in the here and now.

Their music showed the world that punk rockers could play and be really good at it. Founded in Chicago in 1980, by Marco Pezzati, Jeff Pezzati and Santiago Durango, Naked Raygun released six albums during their eleven year career that would change the sound of punk rock indefinitely. The band is widely recognized as being one of the most influential punk bands of the 80's. Their anthemic style incorporated politics in a uniquely accessible way, melding pop and hardcore into one cohesive sound, that would later be dubbed, "The Chicago Sound". Shortly after their first release, Basement Screams, Durango left to join Big Black permanently, and was replaced by John Haggerty, whose unique style of buzzsaw guitar would define Raygun's sound for their next four albums. Additionally, Pierre Kezdy replaced Camilo Gonzalez and Eric Spicer took over drums for Jim Colao. In 1990, Haggerty left the band to start Pegboy. Bill Stephens joined the band for their final studio release entitled, Raygun...Naked Raygun.

Among the most revered voices in funk, Marva Whitney holds a special place thanks to her fierce energy and unmistakable style on tracks like the classic 'Unwind Yourself,' a long-time favorite for DJs and dance floors alike. Emerging from the dynamic world of the James Brown Revue in the late 1960s--alongside iconic names like Lyn Collins and Vicki Anderson--Marva quickly carved out a name for herself. In 1969, she began recording as a solo artist under James Brown's King label, scoring a Top 20 R&B hit with 'It's My Thing.' While mainstream hits were few, her music resonated deeply with funk lovers and crate diggers around the world. Songs like 'You Got to Have a Job' and the endlessly sampled 'Unwind Yourself' have only grown in stature over the decades. Her album, "It's My Thing", dropped that same year and has since become a touchstone of the genre. Backed by the legendary JB's and produced by James Brown himself--who also contributed to most of the songwriting--the album captures a raw, unapologetic funk sound with a distinctly female voice at the forefront. From the explosive opening of 'It's My Thing'--a bold response to the Isley Brothers' 'It's Your Thing'--Marva channels sheer intensity, backed by a band that doesn't let up. The pace briefly softens with 'If You Love Me,' a soul soaked ballad in the spirit of Otis Redding, before diving back into the rhythmic grit of tracks like 'Unwind Yourself.' Decades later, "It's My Thing" continues to inspire, sampled by producers and treasured by collectors--a powerful snapshot of funk at its most uncompromising. Reissue on 180g vinyl.

Der Name Erech von Lothringen ist in Underground-Zirkeln nicht gänzlich unbekannt, ist der Wiener doch Urbeber zahlreicher verschiedener Projekte, vorzugsweise aus dem Black-Metal-Bereich, wobei die Interessen des Bandleaders deutlich breitgefächerter liegen. Beim neuen »Romantik III« handelt es sich um ein ausgesprochen eingängiges, sehr melodisches Album, das hier und gar nicht so düster klingt, wie die Songtitel vermuten lassen könnten. Im positiven Sinne grenzt das Material hier und da schon an Pop („Fallen From Grace“), wobei natürlich (fast) immer Melancholie mitschwingt. Auf »Romantik III« wird Erech von Lothringen unterstützt von Schlagzeuger Fabio Alessandrini (bekannt von Annihilator, Bonfire und Enforcer). Des weiteren sind als Gastsängerinnen neben der beeindruckenden Anna de Savoy aktiv: Maria Nesh von Red Eye Temple, Sarah Kitteringham von Smoulder sowie Damna von Elvenking.

The now-classic duet of ‘Peace On Earth / Little Drummer Boy’ with David Bowie from Bing Crosby's 1977 television special, ‘Merrie Olde Christmas’ is back on a brand new, collector's edition, picture disc 12” vinyl.
The picture disc features the iconic image of David Bowie and Bing Crosby at the piano. "Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy" is a Christmas song performed by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Recorded on September 11, 1977 at ATV Elstree Studios near London for Crosby's television special Bing Crosby's Merrie Olde Christmas, the song features Crosby singing the 1941 standard "The Little Drummer Boy" while Bowie sings the counterpoint tune "Peace on Earth", written by the special's musical supervisors Ian Fraser and Larry Grossman, and scriptwriter Buz Kohan, specifically for the collaboration.
The duet was one of Crosby's final recordings before his death in October 1977. Following the special's broadcast during the 1977 holiday season, ‘Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy’ went unavailable for many years. It was eventually released as a single by RCA Records in November 1982 and was a commercial success, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart. It was Crosby's final popular hit. It became one of the best-selling singles of Bowie's career, with total estimated sales over 400,000 in the UK alone.
The song has since become a Christmas classic in the United States, Canada and United Kingdom and has been referred to by The Washington Post as "one of the most successful duets in Christmas music history“.

A decade after the release of his debut solo album Atlas, Lisbon-born producer Branko celebrates the anniversary with a special limited red colour vinyl reissue. Released in 2015, Atlas was the result of an ambitious journey across five cities - New York, Sao Paulo, Amsterdam, Cape Town and Lisbon - where Branko collaborated with more than 20 musicians and producers.

"Hasabe" is a thoughtfully curated collection of Ethio-groove recordings from one of the overlooked pioneers of 1970s Addis Ababa's vibrant music scene-Ayalew Mesfin and his Black Lion Band. Expect trap drum kits, jazz big-band styled horn sections, funky guitars played through wah wah and fuzz pedals- all seasoned with a unique Ethiopian touch_ For many, the music created in 1970s Ethiopia will sound both familiar and alien: while the trappings of '70s Ethiopian music carry some aspects that those in the West will easily identify with-trap drum kits, jazz big-band styled horn sections, guitars played through wah wah and fuzz pedals-the Ethiopian style of singing, and the modes in which the musicians move, may confound. Perhaps some who have delved into the instrumental Ethio-Jazz of Mulatu Astatke-a well-known Ethiopian musical export, relatively unknown in his homeland-will have a context in which to engage this great compilation of '70s Ethiopian music by Ayalew Mesfin. The music Mesfin created with his Black Lion Band is amongst the funkiest to arise from Addis Ababa; his recording career, captured in nearly two dozen 7" singles and numerous reel-to-reel tapes, shows the strata of the most fertile decade in Ethiopia's 20th century recording industry, when records were pressed constantly by both independent upstarts and corporate behemoths, even if they were only distributed within the confines of the unconquerable East African nation. Ayalew was forced underground by the Derg regime that took control of the country in 1974. Until recently, only four of Ayalew Mesfin's tracks had been reissued, appearing in the well-known "Éthiopiques" series. "Hasabe", a carefully curated collection of his singles, marks the first comprehensive release of this powerful and long-overlooked body of work by an artist whose originality and resistance defined a genre: Ethio-groove. More than four decades later, this album offers the rare opportunity to rediscover a vital and beautiful chapter in global music history. We are now reissuing "Hasabe" once again thanks to a collaboration with Now Again. Pressed on 180g vinyl.

The Sator Arepo, or Sator Square, is an ancient word puzzle comprising five palindromes that's etched on various historical sites throughout the Western world. Its origins are unknown, but the square has long been thought to hold magical properties, used as a charm against illness and evil, to cure insanity or to determine whether someone was guilty of witchcraft. Self-styled "punk ethnomusicologist", acoustician and musician Julien Hairon uses this mystical symbol as the starting point for his debut Judgitzu album in an attempt to reconnect with his Celtic heritage, exploring how its hallowed messages might harmonize with contemporary Tanzanian dance music.Hairon has been traveling across the world for over a decade, collecting field recordings from countries such as Indonesia, Australia, Cambodia, China and Bangladesh, and presenting them on his Les Cartes Postales Sonores label, re-issuing any curious cassettes and CDs he came across on the PetPets' TAPES imprint. It was during this time that he became fascinated by rituals that involved spirits, prompting him to examine his own ancestry when he returned to Brittany. "Many artifacts in the landscape remain," Hairon explains, "and the power of spirits is still palpable." He represents this Celtic mysticism on 'Sator Arepo' with murky drones and magickal synth tones, using xenharmonic scales (tuning outside of standard 12-tone equal temperament) that reach back to the ancient world. These sounds are augmented with fast-paced, sci-fi rhythms informed by his time in Tanzania; "Singeli has contaminated me," admits the producer.The most astonishing example of this is 'Miracle', a thrusting soundsystem experiment that layers serpentine, bagpipe-esque electronic wails over extravagant clusters of blocky percussion. Die Aufnahmen dokumentieren die Anfänge einer Band, die sich seitdem als feste Größe zwischen elektronischer Musik, Post-Rock und Avantgarde etabliert hat. Die Düsseldorfer Kunstakademie, das Umfeld von Ratinger Hof und Creamcheese, sowie die Nähe zu Bands wie Kraftwerk, NEU! oder DAF bildeten den kulturellen Nährboden. Die Jazz-Disruptoren Ebi Soda (Spotify Best Of Jazz UK 2024) verarbeiten auf ihrer neuesten LP "frank dean and andrew" das Chaos endloser Jam-Sessions in einem abgelegenen, gemieteten Bauernhaus. "Rumah Sakit 25" vereint das Debütalbum von Rumah Sakit und ihre lange vergriffene EP Travels In Constants in einem außergewöhnlichen Paket. Die Band hat sich erneut mit Bob Weston zusammengetan, um die Original-Masterbänder sorgfältig zu remastern. "Rumah Sakit 25" enthält neues Cover-Artwork von alten Freunden und Mitarbeitern, Jeremiah Maddock und Marty Anderson. Die umfangreiche 180-Gramm-Gatefold-2xLP in Audiophile-Qualität enthält vollfarbige Innenhüllen mit Hunderten von bisher unveröffentlichten Fotos, die die inspirierte Anfangszeit der Band dokumentieren, sowie ein massives 24-seitiges Kunstbuch im Format mit bisher unveröffentlichten Kunstwerken von Maddock. Es ist ein exquisites Werk, das eine Band meisterhaft einfängt, die letztendlich die nachfolgenden Künstler inspirierte und deren spätere Zusammenarbeit mit Foals, Pinback, Sweep the Leg Johnny, Sleeping People und HEY!TONAL unterstreicht, wie einzigartig vielfältig und produktiv Rumah Sakit wirklich waren. Rumah Sakit war eine vierköpfige Rockband aus San Francisco, Kalifornien. Die Gruppe begann 1998 Gestalt anzunehmen, nachdem Gitarrist John Baez, Bassist Kenseth Thibideau und Schlagzeuger Jeff Shannon alle von Redlands nach San Francisco gezogen waren. Nachdem Gitarrist Mitch Cheney schnell hinzukam, war die Band komplett und entschied sich für den Namen Rumah Sakit - eine wörtliche indonesische Übersetzung von ,Krankenzimmer" (alias Krankenhaus) - und einen Sound, der die frenetische Energie von King Crimson aus der "Red"-Ära mit einer meditativen Melodik verband, die in starkem Kontrast zu den meisten ,Math-Rock"-Bands dieser Zeit stand. Bald darauf betrat Rumah Sakit zum ersten Mal das Studio, um ihr gleichnamiges Debütalbum aufzunehmen. "Rumah Sakit" wurde 1999 im ehrwürdigen Music Annex Studio in zwei etwas geheimen Nachtsessions mit den Studio Praktikanten/guten Freunden/angehenden Toningenieuren Jay & Ian Pellicci aufgenommen. Das Album entstand nach einer ,No Tricks"-Philosophie, die den Ansatz der Band beim Spielen und Aufnehmen ihrer Musik prägen sollte. Aufgenommen vollständig live ohne Overdubs in nur wenigen Takes, nutzte die Band die Kunst, die natürliche Präsenz des Raumes und die strategische Platzierung der Geräte, um die reinste und genaueste Darstellung dieser Songs in diesen Momenten einzufangen. In einer Zeit, die schnell durch die aufkommende Popularität von ProTools und akribisch manikürten, maximalistischen Mixes verändert wurde, war die Welt von Rumah Sakit eine erfrischende Atempause. Ein Jahr später, im Herbst 2000, flog Rumah Sakit den renommierten Chicagoer Toningenieur und Shellac-Bassist Bob Weston nach San Francisco, um zwei kurze Tage lang eine neue EP im schäbigen Tiny Telephone Recording aufzunehmen. Diese EP wurde Teil der Abonnement-CD-Reihe ,Travels In Constants" von Temporary Residence (neben Veröfffentlichungen von Mogwai, Low, Explosions In The Sky, Eluvium und MONO). Abgesehen von der Originalauflage von 1.000 CDs, die für Abonnenten reserviert waren, waren die Studioaufnahmen auf Travels In Constants bis jetzt nie wieder erhältlich.

Jubiläums-Ausgabe: Neu abgemischt und remastered. Enthält den neuen Song "Glass Houses". Mit neuem Artwork, kommt in O-Card-Schuber. Strung Out feiern im Jahr 2025 zwei wichtige Meilensteine: ihr 35-jähriges Bandjubiläum und das 20-jährige Jubiläum ihres bahnbrechenden Albums ,Exile in Oblivion". Dieses Album, das weithin als unverzichtbarer Punk-Hardcore-Klassiker gilt, wurde zu diesem Anlass neu abgemischt und remastered. Zur Feier des Tages hat die Band mit Hilfe von Kyle Black und Rob Ramos "Glass Houses" fertiggestellt, einen unvollendeten Song aus den ursprünglichen Aufnahmesessions. Exile in Oblivion zeigt Strung Out's charakteristische Mischung aus melodischem Punk, Hardcore und Metal-Elementen, die jetzt besser klingt als je zuvor. Während frühere Alben ihr technisches Können andeuteten, zeichnet sich Exile in Oblivion durch disziplinierte Gitarrenarbeit und schnelles Schlagzeugspiel aus, das immer dem Kern des Songs dient. Das Album wurde durchweg für sein kraftvolles Songwriting, die komplexe Musik und den dunkleren, aggressiveren Ton gelobt und festigte seinen Ruf als bedeutende Veröffentlichung sowohl in der Diskografie der Band als auch in der breiteren Melodic Punk/Hardcore-Szene. Mit And Your Song Is Like a Circle veröffentlicht Skullcrusher (Helen Ballentine) am 17. Oktober 2025 ihr zweites Album auf Dirty Hit – eine fragile, ambient-getränkte Fortsetzung ihres gefeierten Debüts Quiet the Room (2022).
