In 1996, Gavin and Scott Hardkiss entered the San Francisco Tenderloin studio frequented by the Grateful Dead and Fleetwood Mac and made Acid Funk and various remixes. It's a funny song that references Frankie Bones' This Is Techno and Maurices' This Is Acid and says a lot about a couple of guys drunk on funk who wanted to flip their own sounds. Raw house featuring 808s, 303s and Space Echo churned easy in a whimsical psychedelic cauldron.

Unavailable for 20 years, these remaining copies of the original pressing feature various versions by bothe Hardkiss brothers and an acapella.

Following Merv's EP, Taped Artifact now presents a new outing by the label co-founder Kevin Arnemann. With three original cuts, showcasing the labels characteristic dub-influenced techno sound, the EP is complemented with two remixes by Jonas Kopp. Arnemann's 'Trash Polka EP' kicks off with saturated 808-grooves, driven by steady dub-chords and hard hitting claps. Next, the original track sees a special dub influenced treatment by Jonas Kopp. The in Spain residing Argentinian delivers a stripped down, yet high energized techno version. As a digital exclusive, Kopp prepares a second interpretation, following the tradition of a classic rooted dub sound. On the flipside, 'Revertigo' sees Arnemann utilise a rumbling break beat, topped with icy rides, blissful dub chords and cinematic pads, taking you on an energetic trip. 'Ideology' is bringing the EP to a closing. With heavily processed chords and hard hitting drums, Kevin Arnemann creates a suspense that leave you wanting for more. Almost three decades after he put out his first record as one half of Tummy Touch twosome Tutto Matto, Paulo Guigliemino continues to produce effortlessly brilliant music that joins the dots between vintage disco, boogie, proto-house and sun-kissed Balearica. For proof, just check the heavyweight dancefloor sunshine that is 'Bella Topa', his first release on Leng Records.

Slow, sensual and blessed with all manner of delay-laden drum machine percussion hits, the track fixes the producer's usual colourful, boogie-era synth flourishes and ear-pleasing instrumentation (think fluid electric pianos, fluttering flutes, eyes-closed jazz guitar solos, lilting saxophones and spacey electronic chords) to a chugging, head-in-the-clouds groove reminiscent of Lindstrom and Prins Thomas's early collaborative work. 'Bella Topa' cleverly shifts shape several times throughout, utilising jazzier rhythms and bolder melodies to light up key moments.

Remixes come from Guigliemino's old pal Federico Marton, a producer best known for being one half of sometime Get Physical, Superfiction and Snatch Recordings artists Italoboyz. He lays down two distinctive revisions, starting with a 'Slow' club reconstruction that adds additional percussive heaviness and sparkling electronics to Super Paolo's twinkling, sun-baked original.

His other version, a 'Fast' club reconstruction, drags Guigliemino's track towards peak-time dancefloors kicking and screaming. Making the most of his friend's killer groove and finding sufficient time and space for each life-affirming musical element to sparkle, his mix bobs, weaves and eventually soars for 12 mesmerizing minutes. The mix, like his slow version, makes use of additional percussion and wisely gives more prominence to the A-side's spacey electronics and boogie-influenced synthesizer flourishes. The results are little less than breathtaking.

So Gerd and Philipp were due to play XOYO one saturday night and the club is 6 minutes from my studio so I suggested we go there first to make tunes for a few hours. We made 2 songs that night and one of them is 'reach out'. Gerd did the drums on my 808, Philipp wrote the beautiful lead part on my OBXa and I did the bass in my cs80. I added the words a couple of weeks later, they are inspired by Leonard Cohen's letter to his muse Marianne Ihlen on her deathbed. (Joe Goddard)

You May Not Have Heard The Name Jackson Almond Before, But You Will Have Likely Heard Some Of His Music. Having Released On Wotnot Back In 2013 Under The Name Real, With A Flurry Of Eps, Remixes And Bootlegs Under This Name And As Part Of Duo Boean (on Bbe, Warner, Xvi & Slowfoot Among Others), Jackson Has Been Delighting Ears For A While Now, With A Particular Knack For Balancing Hooks And Earworms With Original Ideas And Creative Production.

This Ep Began Life As A Series Of Headphone Jams Written When Jackson Was Living Outside Of The City In Self-imposed Exile, Tuning Into The Goings On In Dance Music From An External Position. It Was Then Polished Into Dancefloor Gems At The Wotnot Studio At The Total Refreshment Centre. The Music Reflects This, With The Sonic Palette Reflecting Lo-fi And Outsider House, But With A Warmth, Depth And Musicality Specific To His Own Personal Situation.

Scottish producer Austin Ato has been making waves the last couple of years having had well received releases on Futureboogie and Phonica White and this year looks to be his best yet! Remixes for Folamour on Classic, Balako on Greco Roman and an EP for Man Power's label Me Me Me will be dropping in the coming weeks, paving the way for his Delusions Of Grandeur debut double A side; Ella / Putting It In My Way.

On Ella we see Austin deliver some pure, unadulterated, house pleasure over eight minutes (although for us it feels like it could go on for days!). A filtering disco loop, synth melody, string stabs, all reinforced by punchy drums and that all important vocal chop. A simple recipe for a track when cooked up in the right way with love, passion and experience.

Flipping over to the AA, Putting It In My Way drops in somewhat bipolar fashion, a barrage of percussive beats and rolling snares building to a drop where Austin Ato skilfully switches the vibe completely, bringing in deep pads, rolling bassline and his own inimitable vocals. A totally unique track which harks back to the good old days when house music had a soulful and musical touch which connected instantly with the dance floor. This feels to us like a producer marking his arrival as an artist to watch closely for, and whose talent extends way beyond the confines of your standard four on the floor fodder.
Closing the release we have an Instrumental Version of Putting It In My Way which may well be your choice for the deeper moments, letting the groove push to the fore and the lush chords shine through the haze of dubby stabs and twisting synth line.

Mang Dynasty are the collective force of Bill Brewster and Ray Mang. Both should need no introduction! Together they combine to form the mighty Mang Dynasty, and deliver 'Crash the Box' - a riot of afrobeat, house and disco stylings, laced expertly with horn stabs and vocal chops, guaranteed to light up any club or festival stage. On the remixes are two exciting up and coming producers currently making waves: Lord Leopard offers a chunky, abstract bumping house version that's good for the floor.

The twitchy, pared-to-the-bone opener 'Alfa' is at once vast and frighteningly claustrophobic, recalling the brutal, clinical precision of Mika Vainio & Ilpo Vaisanen's output, with a brilliantly tricky arrangement that continually pulls the rug out from under the listener - it's vertigo-inducing twists and turns are simultaneously disorienting and endlessly hypnotic. On the flip, the brooding, scorched-earth 'Stirn' & 'Verstarkerstufe' work at a much slower tempo, uncurling like a plume of smoke with a spacious, cerebral quality that occasionally brings to mind early Gescom.

Following the 7' revisiting Candi Staton's much-loved gospel anthem, this Glitterbox Recordings 12' features four diverse remixes of 'Hallelujah Anyway', three of which are new to vinyl. Kicking off with Larse's Vocal mix, touching deeper territory with a mid-tempo house rendition, Dr Packer's indulgent piano-littered mix is next, picking up the energy and re-introducing the disco beat. Italian producer Moplen delivers a 90s-influenced Classic Club Vibe mix, maximising Candi's uplifting vocal. Finally is FK's Director's Cut Signature Praise 12' Edit, a Frankie Knuckles and Eric Kupper production which is available here on vinyl for the very first time. Picking up the pace with soaring synths and a grooving beat, the mix takes the anthem firmly back to the dancefloor, compelled by the original song's call for jubilation. Following Induction's Liturgical Hymns Remixes EP, Ravage is proud to announce the next release on their White Series. It's a various artists release, containing tracks produced by artists who are very close to the label. Hence, it's title: Familiar Affairs.

A1. sees the return of Forward Strategy Group, with their track Pet a Burning Dog. It's hard not to think 'Sandwell District' when first laying ear on this minimalistic beauty. Bleeps, screeches and haunting synth-work with some outstanding rhythm laying underneath. Following on A2 we have Unbalance picking up the pace with his track Hard Solutions; a track very true to its name. Atmospheric, yet with a healthy dose of punch.

Kicking off his favourite position on the record, on B1 we've got Dutch techno legend Dimi Angélis. He produced a self-proclaimed 'Acid Bomb' which goes by the name of Tarazed. We dare you not to dance when this one hits the floor. Closing off the EP is Liverpool based artist Binny, who produced the wobbly-banger Relax. Proper techno from a man of whom you'd expect this kind of sound.

Berlin-based producer SDX drops an album entitled 'Nocturnal' on Sophia Saze's Dusk & Haze featuring remixes from TXTRL founders 138 and Shipwrec producer SC-164.



Georgia-born, Brooklyn-based Sophia Saze set up Dusk & Haze to release 'genre-free' experimental music, exhibited in the label's debut release entitled 'Solace' EP featuring four versatile cuts from Sophia herself and twisted electro and techno remixes from Umwelt and Benjamin Damage. The second release comes
from the enigmatic SDX, a masked artist who's fiercely championed left-of-centre dance music for decades. Crunchy drums and a thumping bassline kick things off in 'MS 04' before Los Angeles duo 138 provide an outstanding remix incorporating a cacophony of raw breaks. Modulated flutters, warped blips and white
noise create 'MS 08', leading into the organic drums and off-kilter arpeggios of '007' until New York's SC- 164 reworks '007' delivering a pulsating sub and distorted vocal chops.
