Die Texte sind bisweilen absurd, stets sehnsuchtsvoll und mindestens doppeldeutig. Hier und da wurde ein Easter Egg versteckt: Jörg Fauser, Raymond Chandler und Agatha Christie lassen grüßen. In bekannter Marlowe-Manier driftet der Erzähler verstrahlt durch die (Alp-)Traumwelten seiner acht Lieder. Ist es Tom Hessler selbst, der dort im Zerrspiegel der Cocktailbar erscheint, oder sein Alter Ego? Der Assistent kehrt zurück als relaxed-verzweifelter Fitzcarraldo, der versucht einen Urlaubsdampfer voller Grooves aus der Spree über einen Zauberberg im Regenwald zu hieven, und dabei in Welten jenseits von Raum und Zeit entschwindet. Back in 1981 HAZE were a band consistently touring the south west of England, rocking shows from Torquay, Exeter and slightly further beyond, their release, recorded to campaign to save milk bottle tops for the local disabled school, did quite well.

The much-needed balance and coolness are brought by huskie vocals - that is Ola Myszor - an incredibly talented young artist who appears in several tracks on the album. Besides huskie, there are other guests on "UKOA": Natalia Przybysz, who, with a robotic voice, delivers a manifesto of indomitable, proud solitude in "Persist" and Lukasz Pach, the charismatic frontman of the grindcore band Hostia. The sonic spectrum is also filled with anonymous voices: echoes of quarrels, media messages, sounds of war clamor, monologues - looped, accelerated, manic, psychotic, but also a wistful singing coming from the depths, from afar. The metaphysical horror of Lovecraft on one hand, and the sober, no less gloomy diagnosis of George Orwell on the other, constantly correspond here.
This entire album is a story about society as a whole and the contemporary, dystopian world, which is inevitably heading towards war. The track "1984" clearly defines the inspiration for the artist's post-apocalyptic vision. A distorted radio signal, alarm siren and gabba/techno beats driving into the head like nails serve as an expression of the fear and anger born in a world of impending totalitarianism.

Cindy is to release a new six song EP called Swan Lake on 4th October via Tough Love. The title isn't a nod to the folktale or ballet in any real way, but to the fact that it all has ended up in the collective imagination as an object, vaguely recognizable, a little suggestive, and mostly blank. Karina Gill, Cindy's songwriter, likes to make use of that kind of resonance to connect sound and experience. The six songs on this EP continue the stripped-down habits of previous Cindy releases, while adding a few departures and left-turns. Cindy likes to work at the essentials and the elements here say exactly what's needed. In other ways, these songs present a soft filigree that's unusual for their recordings. Oli Lipton (Now, Violent Change) on guitar and Will Smith (Now) on bass play counterpoint melodies to Gill's structures. Staizsh Rodrigues (Children Maybe Later, Almond Joy, Peace Frog) sings vocal harmonies that both offset and deepen Gill's voice and delivery. There are playful drums by Mike Ramos (Tony Jay, Sad Eyed Beatniks) and coolly elaborate guitar lines from Stanley Martinez (Famous Mammals, Violent Change, Non Plus Temps). Gill's songs strike this balance too: almost nonchalant reporting tied up in unexpected knots. A ride in an elevator connects up with questions about peace and/or the nature of things; the title track wonders about associative thinking and associative feeling; The Bell is an account of one of those times when everything makes sense but you can't explain it; and there's the scene of a party viewed with admiration for how friends can love each other. As Gill herself says: "People have told me that they can't quite identify my influences. Me neither. The foundational layers of music of the past and my past have been metabolized like breakfast and turned into more me, sorry to say. But I experience the music of people I'm connected with and it impacts me in the moment. In an age where the unyielding flow of time often overshadows the deeper resonances of our existence, Daniel Majer’s latest album, »Time for No Memory«, serves as an evocative meditation on the ephemeral nature of experience. Produced throughout 2023 and released in the latter half of 2024, this collection of tracks swerve through what seems like a cacophony of FM radio frequencies while oscillating between the familiar and the uncanny, leaving us with a sonic landscape that feels both timeless and retroactive yet palpably present.

In 2019, Daniel Majer released a collaborative album with Jonathan Scherk on Jan Jelinek's Faitiche label.

Carla Boregas is a Brazilian musician, composer and sound artist. By merging synthetic and acoustic instrumentation and techniques, Boregas builds up sonic scenarios driven by an invisible force, where the sensation of presence and discovery lies between density and delicacy. Her work spans composition, improvisation, performance, sound installation and radio art, and aims to transport the listener to different subjective perspectives of time and space, to invoke memories and to reflect about the nature-human relationship.

Carla Boregas writes: "Using a Tascam Portastudio 4-track cassette recorder, I invited three musicians to improvise alone with the sound recording of the sea that I did in Massaguaçu, the place where I used to live in Brasil. The recorder that I used had a defect in one of its tracks, therefore I could only invite two musicians – Vinicius Cajado (double bass) and Réka Csiszér (cello), plus the sea in another track. While listening to the tracks together, I felt a deep sense of absence ("ausência" in Portuguese). Perhaps due to their sonorous answers surrounded by the tape hiss? Because that's one of the symbolic meanings of the ocean? Maybe "saudades do mar, de estar ao seu outro lado"? Who knows – listening can be something very mysterious. Afterwards I played with and interweaved them all: the sonorous sea, Vinicius Cajado, Réka Csiszér and the absence - "Absência Tape" is the final result." – Carla Boregas, Berlin, 8 August 2024.

Short Back n' Sides is the fifth solo album and first studio album of the 1980s from former Mott The Hoople frontman and legendary songwriter Ian Hunter. The album includes an array of guest musicians, most notably featuring collaborations with Mick Jones and Topper Headon of The Clash as well as Todd Rundgren. Reinvigorated by punk rock with the guest musicians clearly having a major impact, Short Back n' Sides finds longtime collaborator Mick Ronson alongside Mick Jones on production duties. This is a thrilling record, with Hunter in scintillating form. Short Back n' Sides has been newly remastered at AIR Mastering with this expanded edition including twelve archival rarities. Accompanied by an 8-page lyric booklet. The LP is pressed on Yellow vinyl and housed in a gatefold sleeve with lyrics.

Following up on last years debut release, Chontane returns with Manx, the second EP on his label, TANE. This five-track collection continues his exploration of sound design, moving into fresh territory while retaining the distinctive energy that marked TANE001.

With TANE002, Chontane invites listeners into a diverse sonic landscape, emphasizing mood, texture, and the subtle intricacies of rhythm.
Manx marks a significant progression in Chontanes artistry, expanding on the
foundation set by TANE001, which echoed the nostalgia of 90s and early 2000s rave culture. While his first EP blended old-school, rave-inspired techno, atmospheric tracks, and a touch of jungle, TANE002 boldly ventures into new, uncharted territories. It challenges traditional genre boundaries, delving deep into the potential of sound design, and offering a forward-thinking perspective that feels attuned to the future.

The EP highlights Chontanes dedication to capturing a wide spectrum of moods and textures within a single record. The title track, Manx sets the stage with a dark, hypnotic presence. Rich in layered textures and atmospheric undertones, the track fuses a powerful kick with resonant toms, deep subs, and eerie pads. Haunting, glitchy vocal snippets add an extra dimension, making Manx a compelling, immersive experience.

On Gazebo, the EPs A2 track, Chontane shifts the energy, delivering a composition that balances driving rhythms with a melodic core. Die Ostfriesen von der Insel Spiekeroog versinken zum Glück nicht in einem Meer aus abgestandener Nostalgie. Obwohl "God of the Godless" mit der brachialen Kraft tosender Winterstürme und dem oft rauen Charme des Nordseewetters daherkommt, haben die Norddeutschen auch die cineastischen Aspekte ihres Sounds verfeinert, die sie auf dem Vorgängeralbum "Beyond Acheron" (2023) fest etabliert hatten. Auf einem soliden Fundament aus Brutal Death zimmern TEMPLE OF DREAD mit Hilfe von dunklen und schweren Stützbalken, Querstreben aus überraschender Melancholie und sogar einigen 12-Zoll Black Metal Nägeln ihre wuchtigen Songstrukturen. Als Zierelement dient erneut ein Gastbeitrag des INSIDIOUS DISEASE, ASINHELL und ehemaligen MORGOTH Sängers Marc Grewe. Die wuchtige Produktion von "God of the Godless" stammt wie gewohnt von Schlagzeuger Jörg Uken. In dessen renommierter Death Metal Klangschmiede, dem Soundlodge Tonstudio, wurden auch schon zahlreiche Langspieler solcher Szenegrößen wie unter anderen DEW-SCENTED, GOD DETHRONED, OBSCENITY, SUICIDAL ANGELS und WARPATH in Form gehämmert. TEMPLE OF DREAD wurden von Markus Bünnemeyer im Jahr 2017 auf Spiekeroog gegründet, als der Gitarrist den Entschluss fasste, seinen Mordshunger auf mehr Death Metal der alten Schule selbst zu stillen. Ein Jahr später stießen Sänger Jens Finger und Jörg Uken dazu, mit denen Bünnemeyer bereits bei SLAUGHTERDAY aktiv war. Dieses Dreiergespann besteht seitdem unverändert fort. Schon das erste Album "Blood Craving Mantras" (2019) schlug in Death Metal Kreisen hart ein. Die Arbeitstiere ließen in kurzer Folge zwei weitere Erfolgsalben, "World Sacrifice" (2020) und das von der Kritik in höchsten Tönen gefeierte "Hades Unleashed" (2021), auf die Welt los. Death metal can hardly get more dedicated and passionate about the old school Floridian sound than
TEMPLE OF DREAD on their fifth album "God of the Godless". Luckily, the East Frisians from German
island Spiekeroog are not mired in a swamp of stale nostalgia. Although "God of the Godless" comes
with the brutal power of harsh winter storms and the gritty texture of the often fierce North Sea
weather, the East Frisians have also refined the cinematic aspects of their sound that they had firmly
established on the predecessor "Beyond Acheron" (2023).

Those in the know are well aware of Bobby Marin's work, and the fact that he was behind the scenes for some of the best boogaloo and salsa of the '60s and '70s. Yet, until now, no one has explicitly put Bobby's name in the headline and given him his due on the cover of a properly credited Latin soul compilation. This compilation comprises twenty four essential boogaloo, Latin funk, rock and afro disco gems, each one bearing the mark of quality: "A Bobby Marin Production", including songs by Ricardo Marrero, the Ghetto Brothers, Ocho, Louie Ramírez_ A freshly curated overview of his fascinatingly complex back catalog in these genres. Since the late 1980s there have been numerous Latin soul and boogaloo compilations, and certainly much has been written about the history of the music too and an an excellent documentary (We Like It Like That, by Mathew Ramírez Warren) have brought the music to a broader audience. Generally, when discussing the "first wave" of Latin soul and boogaloo, it's the bands and their leaders, the singers and the songs that get all the recognition. But what of the producers, composers, and arrangers behind the music? Over the years, one of the best old-school New York Latin music producers, Bobby Marin, has occasionally been given some well-deserved credit and popped up sporadically in articles or liner notes (Wax Poetics, Fania, Gladys Palmera). However, to the casual public, he is not a household name, even among some fans of boogaloo. There are even some contemporary Latin soul compilations that contain mostly material licensed, produced and / or written by Bobby (or his brother, Richard), and a tip of the hat must go to Bobby's friend Dean Rudland for all his work in this area, as well as to Rocafort Records for digging up the long-lost Nitty Gritty Sextet album. Yet, until now, no one has explicitly put Bobby's name in the headline and given him his due on the cover of a properly credited Latin soul compilation. This collection aims to change that and give the man his Latin soul "props" for the first time on a freshly curated overview of his fascinatingly complex back catalog in this genre.

Songs quer durchs Braut-Universum auf Vinyl - von jedem Album ein paar Perlen. Euphorische Girlpower-Pop-Energie. Fotos und Songtexte gibt"s noch obendrauf. Wie schön ist das denn... Und da ist nochmal ganz klar, wem die größte Liebe der Braut gehört: dem Popsong. Jeder der drei-bis-fünf-Minuten-Songs ist eine Welt für sich, blickt vom Makro- in den Mikro - Kosmos ("ÜberAll"), durchs Schlüsselloch ("Wenn Du gehst") oder in die Sterne ("Mann mit Hang zur Depression"); bei der Braut hängt der Himmel eben immer voller Rhythmusgitarren. Und warum machen die Trikonts das? Für die Millionen, die sie damit verdienen werden, eh klar. Aber auch und vor allem, weil die ursprüngliche Plattenfirma alle Tonträger eingestampft hatte... und natürlich, damit man sich nicht nur an die Band mit diesem seltsamen Namen erinnert, sondern vor allem an ihre mitreißenden Hop"n Roll-Pop-Cow-Songs. Wenn diese Band kein Role-Model für feministische Power, für ihre Entschlossenheit und ihren Humor ist, wer dann?

Zwei Jahre nach seinem hochgelobten Cover-Album "Taped Heart Sounds" schlägt Jesper Munk ein neues Kapitel auf: Mit wohlgereiften Eigenkompositionen kehrt er jetzt zur Freude aller treuen Wegbegleiter:innen endlich auch wieder als Komponist und Texter zurück. Und so gab es für das Trio nie einen Anlass für eine grundlegende Sound-Änderung, eine Umstellung der Herangehensweise oder ein Schielen auf Trends. Das genau beweist ,Grau", Kontrolle-Album #3. Denn wenn das dritte Album von KONTROLLE etwas unterstreicht, dann, dass die Band noch kompromissloser zu Werke geht. Ihre Hardcore- und Punkwurzeln sind hier deutlicher denn je zu erkennen. Die breite Soundwand, die das Trio um Gitarrist und Sample-Meister Carsten Wagner, Sänger und Bassist Daniel Brangs und Drummer Andrew Collar kreiert und erneut in der Tonmeisterei bei Role Wiegner in Oldenburg auf Band gebannt hat, bestätigt diese Vermutung. Aber da sind ja auch noch die prägenden, markanten dunklen Elemente, die als Gegenpol eine sphärische Dynamik schaffen, die zwischen hypnotisch und eruptiv pendelt. Und das funktioniert nicht nur vor der Bühne, sondern auch auf der Tanzfläche. Die deutschen Texte von Sänger Daniel behandeln aktuelle Themen und Sorgen in gewohnt KONTROLLE-typischen Passagen, die oft mit einem Augenzwinkern auch politisch Stellung beziehen. Bisweilen spielen sogar Alltags- und Haushaltsgegenstände nicht zu unterschätzende Rollen in der ,kontrollierten" Beschreibung der deutschen Realität. Die Covergestaltung lag erneut in der Hand von Schlagzeuger Andrew, der diesmal neue Wege beschritt: Hunderte selbst geschossene Fotos bildeten den Grundstock für eine Collage von original ca. 1,5 m x 2 m. Alle Bilder wurden in mühevoller Kleinarbeit ausgeschnitten und zusammengestellt. Das Gatefoldcover ist somit ein Kunstwerk für sich und eröffnet mit jedem Blick neue Details. Der 10fache Grammy-Preisträger, Musiker, Songwriter und Produzent FINNEAS veröffentlicht am 4. Oktober sein zweites Studioalbum „For Cryin’ Out Loud!“. Der 27-Jährige ist einer der derzeit gefragtesten
Produzenten weltweit und hat u.a. bereits mit Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez und Tove Lo
zusammengearbeitet.
Die gleichnamige Single, welche am 08. August veröffentlicht wurde, schafft den Auftakt und eröffnete den
Vorverkauf für sein bald zu erwartendes Studioalbum. Dieses entstand aus einer Reihe von Live-StudioJams mit einigen seiner engsten Freunde und Kollegen.

„For Cryin Out Loud“ folgt auf die Albumveröffentlichung seiner Schwester Billie Eilish „HIT ME HARD
AND SOFT“, welches er ebenfalls mit ihr produzierte. Seine musikalischen Werke, vor allem mit Billie
Eilish, etablierten ihn als einen von der Kritik am meisten gefeierten und preisgekrönten Produzenten und
Songwriter seiner Generation.

Alle Brenton Wood-Klassiker auf einem Album! Mit Hits wie ”The Oogum Boogum Song”, ”Gimme Little
Sign”, ”Baby You Got It” und vielen mehr, wurde das Album Brenton Wood’s 18 Best ursprünglich 1992
veröffentlicht und dient als Schaufenster für Woods geschmeidigen, sicheren Vortrag, der seinen Platz als
