Across two song cycles separated by nearly four decades – Richard Wagner’s »Fünf Gedichte für eine Frauenstimme« (the »Wesendonck Lieder«) and Johannes Brahms’ late »Vier ernste Gesänge« (»Four Serious Songs«) – Wagner’s songs, written under the spell of his relationship with Mathilde Wesendonck and already pointing towards »Tristan und Isolde«, and Brahms’ final composition, which gives the album its name and was shaped by grief, illness, and meditations on biblical texts, circle the same existential questions.

Desire and mortality, ecstasy and resignation appear less as opposites than as mirrored states. The voices of Wesendonck’s poetry seem to answer the solemn reflections of Ecclesiastes and Corinthians, revealing an unexpected dialogue across time.

Without seeking historical authenticity or revisionist spectacle, »Serious Songs« listens for what still resonates beneath these works: the suspended moment where love, loss, and transcendence become indistinguishable. The harp assumes the role of the piano as the foundation, pulse, and emotional compass. The vocal line, liberated from classical convention, inhabits a contemporary expressive space without severing its bond to the original scores. It is Romantic music viewed through the acoustics of the present. The project emerged from a moment of professional disillusionment familiar to many classically trained musicians. This led to a confrontation with some of classical music’s traditional flaws that became an invitation to reimagine it.

Sissi Rada approaches the spinal properties of the Romantic Lieder, fragile enough to transform and resilient enough to survive. Intimate, lucid, and quietly radical.

HYPER PEARL'S ICONIC TRANCE ANTHEM "CAN YOU FEEL THE PAIN" RETURNS WITH NEW REMIXES BY BIESMANS AND ZZINO.

First released in the mid-1990s, Hyper Pearl's cult classic Can You Feel The Pain is set to make a powerful return. Released via Serious Beats Classics, the new package features brand-new remixes from Biesmans and Zzino, alongside remastered versions of the original mixes.

Biesmans: "I grew up with the Serious Beats compilations and started buying my first vinyls around the time "Can You Feel The Pain" got released. Remixing this project really felt like a full circle moment for me."

Joining the release is a brand-new remix from Zzino, one of the pioneers of the Belgian techno movement and a key figure behind Hyper Pearl. His version reconnects directly with the track's roots while bringing fresh energy and perspective.

Together, these remixes celebrate the enduring legacy of "Can You Feel The Pain" while introducing the track to a new generation of listeners. The release highlights the lasting influence of Belgian electronic music and demonstrates how truly great records continue to evolve across decades.

Y-TRAXX'S "MYSTERY LAND" RETURNS ON VINYL WITH NEW REMIX BY ROY ROSENFELD:

The legendary trance anthem Mystery Land by Y-Traxx returns to the spotlight. First released in 1995, the track achieved iconic status after featuring prominently in the 2000 box-office No. 1 movie Kevin & Perry Go Large. The original track is now being reissued on vinyl. The release includes the Original Mix, the classic Sickboy Courtyard Mix, the Søluna Remix - winner of the Beatport Remix Contest - and a brand-new remix from Roy Rosenfeld. Available from 3 April via Serious Beats Classics.

With its hypnotic melodies, driving beats, and mysterious atmosphere, "Mystery Land" became a symbol of the 90s trance scene and grew into a cult classic. The track was picked up worldwide by influential DJs, including Paul Oakenfold, and featured prominently on his mix album Perfecto Fluoro (1996).

The new remix by Roy Rosenfeld brings a fresh, modern take to the iconic track, preserving the emotion of the original while adding a powerful peak-time, sunrise energy. Rosenfeld comments: "Remixing Mystery Land was an honor for me. I've loved this track for many years, so the process was very natural and fun. The vision came quickly, keeping the emotion of the original and pushing it into a peak-time, sunrise energy."

Mosimann: "This track is very important to me. Fred Rister was much more than an influence: he was the first to truly get me into music production when I was 20 years old. Before he left us, he handed me the stems of Drop That Beat and told me: 'If one day you feel like it, work on a version.' It took me years of reflection, doubts, and memories before I found the strength to do it. Today, with the blessing of the two original composers, I'm finally releasing this version. Hometown Crew ist eine fünfköpfige Youth Crew/Hardcore-Punk-Band aus Weert, Niederlande. The original version of 'Serious' was included on Kazzey's 2022 album Voyage. The collaboration between him & LA modern funk mainstay XL Middleton became a favorite in the street dance scene, soon becoming used in innumerable videos & dance battles internationally. It also found its way into heavy club rotation thanks to forward-thinking DJ's who include the modern funk sound in their sets, from the west coast of the US, to Japan, and back to Kazzey's native France. Now, the track is finally being pressed on vinyl and included on the b-side is a bonus remix (the 'Midnight Drift Remix') bringing a silkier, late-night edge to this certifiable dance floor filler.

New Jersey-born Ali Berger is a drum machine specialist and low-key US dance music standby, now based in Pittsburgh after spending the 2010s in Boston and Detroit. His catalog of original music runs deep, with over 60 releases on his Trackland label and EPs on imprints like Spectral Sound and Sequencias, all resulting from a lovingly-cultivated studio approach which respects improvisation as a spiritual practice.

Here with this sublime release on Scissors and Thread, Ali shares a multitude of sounds and atmospheres across the five tracks. As Ali himself puts it “This record collects tracks from the last three years, plus 0221 (Serious Mix) which is from 2018. There's a full cross-section of production techniques represented here, from one-take jams to multi-tracked compositions, but through it all there's a deep melancholy which (I hope) is tempered by enough groove to be uplifting. Maintaining emotional balance takes constant, caring attention; music is a part of that process for me and these tracks reflect that.”

This balancing of melancholic atmospheres and groove is evident throughout - Rhythm & Simplicity is a low key thoughtful banger for the more discerning dancefloors, while A New World To Forget also exhibits a deep love of cultured house music and analog drum machines. Tape Jam pt 2 is the perfect mix of improvisation and pure groove, put down in a rough and gritty fashion. 0221 (Serious Mix) merges a breakbeat with pads and synths that give off a balearic sunrise vibe, while Motion Anthem wraps up the EP with a tougher groove coupled with wistful melodies and oceans of feeling.

DJ HS is undoubtedly one of the most emblematic figures on the nightlife scene in Belgium and Northern France. With a career spanning over 35 years, he made his mark as Lagoa's legendary resident for 8 years (1994 to 2002). His unique musical style, a skilful blend of Tek, Hardtek, Electro, Tekclub and Jumpstyle, has made him an essential reference. These are no less than must-have classics in their respective genres. A must-have for all DJ HS fans. All tracks were composed and produced in collaboration with Frédéric de Backer (Ba-Back / Fred Baker), one of the most prolific producers of the last 30 years.

DJ HS est incontestablement l'une des figures les plus emblématiques de la scène nocturne en Belgique et dans le nord de la France. Fort de plus de 35 ans de carrière, il a marqué les esprits en tant que résident légendaire de Lagoa pendant 8 ans (1994 à 2002). Son style musical unique, un savant mélange de Tek, Hardtek, Electro, Tekclub et Jumpstyle, a fait de lui une référence incontournable. Toujours passionné par son métier, il enflamme chaque week-end les pistes de danse des plus grands clubs et festivals.



Nous sommes ravisde vous présenter le tout premier Best Of de DJ HS (The Anthems) sur Serious Beats Classics, comprenant pas moins de quatre de ses meilleurs morceaux sur un seul et même vinyle ! Il s'agit là non moins que de classiques incontournables dans leurs genres respectifs. Un "must have" pour tous les fans de DJ HS. Blue/Black Marble Vinyl, limitiert auf 200 Exemplare. ARROW MINDS sind eine melodische Metalcore / Hardcore Band aus Rostock, Deutschland. Sie wurden in einer kalten Winternacht im Jahr 2016 gegründet. Wenn du Bands wie Strike Anywhere, Avail oder Architects magst, wird diese Band deine Welt auf den Kopf stellen. Ihr neues Album ist ein großer Schritt nach vorne im Vergleich zu ihrem letzten. Man merkt, dass diese Band ihren musikalischen Weg gefunden hat. Ihre kraftvollen und aussagekräftigen Songs repräsentieren alles, wofür eine moderne Metalcore-Band stehen sollte - schnelle, aggressive Melodien, die zu eingängigen Hooks führen; mit Texten, die nicht versuchen, nur leere Parolen raus zu hauen, sondern vielmehr notwendige Fragen stellen und Statements setzen.

Uns konkret fragen "wie geht es mir wirklich?" Auch wenn wir uns der Antwort bewusst wären, können & wollen wir so ehrlich & mutig mit unserem Gegenüber sein? Limitiertes white/black marble Vinyl. Terror ist eine amerikanische Hardcore-Band aus Los Angeles, Kalifornien, die 2002 gegründet wurde. Angeführt von dem unermüdlichen Enthusiasmus von Frontmann Scott Vogel, haben Sie sich seit ihrer Gründung um die Jahrtausendwende einen starken Ruf erspielt. Ihre Mischung aus schnörkellosem, brutalem Hardcore und New Generation Metal, schlägt eine Brücke zwischen Jung und Alt und sorgt für einen höllischen Pit. Scott Vogel ist eine Schlüsselfigur für das Überleben der Szene, da er sein normales Leben zu Hause aufgegeben hat, um trotz gebrochener Gliedmaßen und Bandscheibenvorfälle immer wieder auf der Bühne zu stehen.

NYHC-Schlagzeuger Legende "Will Shepler" (früher bei Agnostic Front, Madball) und Sick Of It All-Bassist Craig Setari (ebenfalls früher bei Agnostic Front) hatten die Idee eine neue Punk Rock Band zu gründen. Will rief seinen langjährigen Freund, den Gitarristen und Sänger Scott Roberts (früher bei Biohazard, The Spudmonsters, Bloodclot!) an, der Biohazard nur wenige Wochen zuvor verlassen hatte. Für Scott war es das perfekte Timing, denn er wollte weitermachen und etwas Neues von Grund auf mit völliger kreativer Freiheit und Leidenschaft schaffen. Bald darauf begannen Scott und Will mit der Arbeit an dem selbstbetitelten Debütalbum von The Take. Craig war mit dem hektischen Tourneeplan von Sick Of It All beschäftigt, also rekrutierte Scott seinen Freund Eric Klinger (ehemals Pro-Pain), um das Line-up zu vervollständigen.

Purple/Black smoke vinyl. Limited 300 copies. Morning Again formed in the 90's and helped create the metalcore sound that is so popular today. The band become well known by combining different aspects of metal and hardcore with Politically charged lyrics and messages. Over the years the band has released Multiple 7", Ep's as well as a full length on Revelation Records. This new Ep contains the same energy, passion and aggression that the band has always had. Sonically this is their best recording to date and let's us hear what Morning Again sounds like with the most modern recording technology and an amazing producer/engineer once again. "Borrowed Time" was recorded by Beau Burchell from Saosin in Orange County, CA. He has also worked with The Bronx, Trash Talk, Underoath and Senses Fail. This new record has a song called "Resignation" which features guest vocals by Trevor Strnad from The Black Dahlia Murder.

Magenta/Black-Smoke Vinyl, limitiert auf 250 Exemplare. Die Metalcore/Screamo-Band Stick to Your Guns wurde 2003 von Sänger Jesse Barnett in Orange County, Kalifornien, gegründet. Die Band, die mit Größen wie Comeback Kid und Protest the Hero verglichen wird, wurde von Sumerian Records-Chef Ash Avildsen entdeckt, der die ohnehin schon angesagte Band auf ein Live-Showcase setzte. Kurz darauf unterschrieb die Band einen Vertrag mit dem Label. Das erste Album der Band, For What It's Worth, wurde 2007 veröffentlicht. Die Band wechselte im Anschluss zum Indie-Metal-Label Century Media, das im Frühjahr 2008 das Nachfolgealbum "Comes from the Heart" veröffentlichte. Comes from the Heart ist die zweite Veröffentlichung der amerikanischen Hardcore-Punk-Band Stick to Your Guns. Das Album erreichte Platz 33 der Billboard's Heatseekers Charts. Diese Vinyl Version enthält 4 Bonustracks, die bisher nur auf einer limitierten CD-Version erhältlich waren.
