Lucent unfolds with the long form Biform, essentially a piece in two halves that perfectly sets the listener up for the lush widescreen sonic journey that follows. The album flows from start to finish building energy as it moves though it’s different phases culminating in the infectious groove of Perpetual.

This is the sound of Spooky back in the room doing what they do best, making beautiful emotive electronic music that transcends boundaries.

Gargantuan is the debut studio album by U.K. electronic duo Spooky (Charlie May and Duncan Forbes), released by William Orbit's Guerilla Records in March 1993.

Today Gargantuan is regarded as a landmark album in the history of progressive house and British dance music. As Guerilla’s standard bearer, they helped coalesce an immersive sound that was neither Detroit, nor Chicago, nor Manchester.

The duo became renowned for being at the forefront of the progressive house scene that emerged in the aftermath of the "post-rave comedown", joining fellow acts like Orbital and Underworld in re-casting house music in an energetic live environment.

Gargantuan has been out of print on vinyl since 2006 and is re-released on 21st June.

Following on from last year's massive E2-E4, Alex Kassian returns to Test Pressing Records with the next in the rework series. This time tackling Spooky's 'Orange Coloured Liquid' taken from their seminal debut LP, Gargantuam released in 1993. Spooky, alongside acts like Underworld and Leftfield were at the forefront of the burgeoning progressive house scene at the turn of the 90's. Now 32 years later, man of the moment, Alex Kassian has proved once again that he can do no wrong with two versions that run from the club to the home. John Beltran also makes welcome appearance under his Placid Angles alias and the original version rounds off the release.

Spooky has long been one of the hardest working soundmen in East London. At any given time you can see him streaming sets on Insta, blasting out tunes, and being the OG cat he always has been, with a reverence for the roots of Dub, from the Jamaican roots to US Garage and back to his backyard via his Grime/Dubstep/UKG cuts, which are always full of raw depth and swing.

This is why it was more a matter of what to fit on his first EP on LoDubs, given when the conversation was started about RAS Riddims a whole deluge of tracks came our way. Clarty Steppers is not only 6 of the best of those, but 2 bonus tracks in the accompanying DL, and the option to get those 2, and a extra VIP of one of those tunes which will only ever be available via the companion Poly Cut of this release

"Die Themen umfassen einen nordischen König, der über das Leben nachdenkt, während er erobert wird, einen alternden Sucher auf dem Weg zur Erleuchtung, Außerirdische, die Menschen jagen und sich der Gefangennahme entziehen, einen konfliktbeladenen Soldaten vor und nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg, eine schwangere Teenagerin, die eine schlimme Situation zu Hause hinter sich lässt, einen widerwilligen Helden, der in seiner letzten Schlacht siegt, und die Freundin eines Mannes, die ihn wegen seiner Verschwörungstheorien verlässt." Die Fans werden mit der ersten Single "Window to the World", einem energiegeladenen Up-Tempo-Art-Rock mit einem Hauch von Ska und Reggae, etwas Neues erleben. "Somewhere North of Nowhere" ist ein geradliniger Prog-Song mit einzigartigem Bridge-Teil. "Underneath the Orphan Moon" ist eine düstere Ballade über ein Teenager-Mädchen, das einer schlimmen Situation entflieht. Der stimmungsvolle und cineastische Song erinnert an einen klassischen Elton-John-Song, mit echter Streichergruppe. The master of all things creepy, Widow slithers back with his sophomore DDD release. 'Spooky Stories' will take you down the dark rabbit hole into a world of scares, spirits and suspense.

Widow's sound is characterised by a brilliant use of negative space, it's often what's not there as much as what is. Haunting atmospherics, deep bass, minimal drums and cheeky samples complete the picture.

The third instalment on O’Flynn’s club label Hundred Flowers is a collaboration between Spooky - J (Nihiloxica) and Ekhe.

Two high speed and energetic bangers in their rawest form, these are club weapons that can be used to spice up any set.

A distillation of dance floor energy, the record is the result of a live improvised performance over New Year’s Eve 2019/20.

Spooky - J: "We both enjoy jamming together and not planning too much ahead of time, so naturally it makes sense to improvise at live shows. It also leaves space for the music to go off on a tangent depending on what the crowd or we are feeling.”

Ekhe: “Live improv becomes a real antidote for my concerns about preparing music. Instead, you’re creating something in the moment, directly corresponding with the energy around you, which in turn is influenced by your sound. Getting caught up in that is unlike anything else."

Spooky - J is currently on tour with Nihiloxica and the pair have a gig planned for this NYE in Amsterdam.

This record is special release for the label. It's a tune I have been chasing for years and just had to get released so that everybody can own a copy. Originally written in 2006, Snow Forest was a Slew Dem anthem and when I got to know Spooky in 2009 it was one of the first tunes I asked him for. Rarely given out to anyone, it was one of my favourite dubs but I always dreamt of putting it out on my label. After finding the original CD that Spooky gave me back in 2010 the time was right to finally get it pressed up on vinyl and in the shops. Backed with Funky Dub, a tune from 2009 that still gets a massive reaction.
This release shows that good music is timeless, simultaneously cartoonish and menacing with a blend of rudest bass and daftest melody in a proper UK style.
