Das aus Benton Harbor, Michigan, stammende Trio The Three Sounds - bestehend aus dem Pianisten
Gene Harris, dem Bassisten Andy Simpkins und dem Schlagzeuger Bill Dowdy - gehörte zwischen 1959 und
1962 zu den kommerziell erfolgreichsten Zugpferden von Blue Note Records. In dieser Zeit veröffentlichte
das Soul-Jazz-Trio sieben eigene Alben bei dem Label und begleitete auf zwei weiteren die Saxofonisten Lou Donaldson und Stanley Turrentine. Nach einigen Aufnahmen für die Labels Verve, Mercury und
Limelight kehrten The Three Sounds 1967 mit einem neuen Schlagzeuger und einem leicht modifizierten
Sound zu Blue Note Records zurück. Auf dem Album “Soul Symphony” arbeitete das Trio - nun mit
Henry Franklin am Bass und Carl Burnett am Schlagzeug - mit einem von Monk Higgins arrangierten
und geleiteten Orchester zusammen. Höhepunkt des groovigen Albums ist das 25-minütige Titelstück, ein
wahres Soul-Jazz-Opus , das wie alle anderen Kompositionen des Albums aus der Feder von Monk Higgins
stammte.

Kaoru Watanabe veröffentlicht mit The Arch ein Soloalbum, das in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Produzenten William Brittelle und Executive Producer Shahzad Ismaily im Rahmen des Open-Residency-Programms von Figure 8 entstanden ist. Auf zehn Stücken verbindet Watanabe traditionelle japanische Instrumente wie Shinobue- und Ryuteki-Flöten, Taiko-Trommeln, Narimono-Percussion und Koto mit Jazzimprovisationen sowie akustischen und elektronischen Klangquellen. Neben den traditionellen Instrumenten kommen unter anderem Klavier, Synthesizer, Tenorsaxophon, Sopran- und Altflöten sowie Harfe zum Einsatz, die Watanabe selbst spielt. Das Album bewegt sich zwischen unterschiedlichen klanglichen und stilistischen Ansätzen und verbindet traditionelle Elemente mit zeitgenössischer Komposition und Improvisation.

Singer-Songwriterin, Multiinstrumentalistin und Produzentin Agnes Obel kehrt mit dem mit Spannung
erwarteten neuen Album ”The Meaning of Flowers” zurück, das auf die gefeierte Veröffentlichung von
”Myopia” (2020) folgt.
Die aus Dänemark stammende Wahlberlinerin hat das neue Werk vollständig in ihrem Berlin Studio
geschrieben, arrangiert, aufgenommen und produziert. Auf 12 atmosphärischen, genreübergreifenden
Tracks fängt ”The Meaning of Flowers” eine Phase tiefgreifender persönlicher und kreativer Transformation ein.
Inspiriert von der Geburt ihres ersten Kindes erkundet Obel Themen wie Neubeginn, Verbundenheit und
Metamorphose und reflektiert darüber, wie neues Leben den Körper, den Geist und die eigene Beziehung
zur Welt verändert.
Ihre neue Musik schöpft dabei aus vielen Quellen – von der Dichtung Enheduannas (der ersten namentlich

Der Soundtrack zum Oscar-prämierten Animationsfilm „Wallace und Gromit - Auf der Jagd nach dem
Riesenkaninchen“ feiert nun sein Vinyl-Debüt auf Picture Disc. In dem zweiten Spielfilm von Aardman
nach „Chicken Run“ begeben sich Wallace und Gromit auf ein urkomisches Abenteuer, bei dem sie gegen
ein riesiges „Wer-Kaninchen“ kämpfen, das die Ernte ihrer Stadt vernichtet. Die Filmmusik wurde von
Julian Nott komponiert, der auch bereits die Musik für die vorherigen Teile der Reihe geschrieben hat, und
von Hans Zimmer produziert.

Ipecac freut sich, Cor de Lux in der Familie willkommen zu heißen. Das Quartett aus North Carolina kreiert eine grenzenlose und lebendige Mischung aus Post-Hardcore, Shoegaze und experimentellem Gitarrenrock, die sich lebendig anfühlt und nicht hastig zusammengeschnitten wirkt. Sie lassen sich von Acts wie Fugazi und Blonde Redhead inspirieren und standen bereits mit Pile, Superchunk, Archers Of Loaf und anderen auf der Bühne.
