For this second volume of UK ELECTRONICS, we’ve once again selected, here at Delodio, some of our favourite tracks from Mindscan Tapes, an English DIY label active from 1988 to 1994, run by Robert Maycock, a young Englishman with an extraordinary ear.. Its Beatronic and UK Electronics compilations brought together electro, early techno, ambient, experimental, house and industrial music at a time when most labels stayed within clearly defined genres.

Here at Delodio, we are amazed by the contrast between the quality of these cassettes and the label’s extremely underground nature: its best-selling title has barely sold 30 copies.

More than a compilation, the album is a tribute to the artists involved, Robert’s artistic vision, and the pre-internet DIY culture that connected music obsessives through mail, flyers and home-copied cassettes.

Jenkins ist den meisten als Produzent/Toningenieur hinter Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo und der für den Grammy nominierten Frollen Music Library bekannt. Als hauseigener Toningenieur für Aufnahmen und Abmischungen bei College In-House-Aufnahme- und Mix-Ingenieur bei Knowledge Records hat Jenkins die klangliche Grundlage für die instrumentale Cinematic-Soul-Bewegung von Melbourne/Naarm geschaffen. Auf ,& Friends" setzt Jenkins seine Fähigkeiten für seine eigenen brillanten Kompositionen ein. Das Album umfasst 12 introspektive Instrumentalstücke - tiefe, cineastische Odysseen, die von Romantik und Aufrichtigkeit durchdrungen sind und jenen unverkennbaren ,Freak Funk Bump" haben. Jenkins erklärt die Konzeption von ,& Friends": ,Ich wollte ein Album schreiben, auf dessen Aufnahme ich mich mit meinen Freunden freuen würde. Die Musik, die ich schrieb, hatte eine Funk-Sensibilität in Bass und Schlagzeug, kontrastiert durch einen eher cineastischen Ansatz in Bezug auf Harmonie und Melodie, mit Gitarren, die sich dazwischen schlängeln und gleiten. Ich habe versucht, diesen Kontrast zum Charakter des Albums zu machen. Ich fand, dass jeder Song die gleiche Instrumentierung und die gleichen Musiker haben sollte. Das wurde zu einer angenehmen kreativen Herausforderung: Wie viel Variation konnte ich im Laufe des Albums aus denselben acht Instrumenten herausholen? Ich wollte innerhalb dieser engen Grenzen so viel Vielfalt wie möglich finden." Jenkins hat diese Prinzipien bei den Aufnahmen zu ,& Friends" angewendet und langjährige Musikpartner wie Hudson Whitlock, Darvid Thor und Callum Riley (Karate Boogaloo), Lachlan Stuckey und Jethro Curtin (Surprise Chef), Lewis Coleman und Lena Douglas (The Cactus Channel) zusammen, um unkonventionelle Arrangements für drei Gitarren, Klavier, Streichersynthesizer, Hammondorgel, Schlagzeug und Bass zu verwirklichen, wobei Jenkins selbst den Bass und die Produktion übernahm. Das Ergebnis ist ein auffallend einzigartiges Album: Mal gibt's malerische Stimmungen, mal funkige Rhythmen, die zum Mitwippen einladen, wobei die drei Gitarren und drei Keyboards genau im Stereofeld angeordnet sind. Das Album zeigt die Einflüsse des Filmkomponisten Bernard Herrmann, des Lounge-Pioniers Les Baxter und Lamont Dozier von Motown, zusammen mit den exzentrischen Eigenheiten von JNBO. Efficient Space honours the memory of producer and MC Ali Omar with Hashish Hits, a posthumous selection from the dub rebel’s self-released discography.

One of ten children in working-class Liverpool, Omar drew deep influence from his father's Arabic heritage—a thread central to his identity and sample origins. After art school and a spell clubbing during Manchester's halcyon days, he relocated to Sydney, where he cofounded the blunted downbeat duo Atone with fellow British expatriate Andy Fitzgerald. As an MC, he infiltrated the city’s house, dub, jungle, and bass circuits, becoming a regular fixture at the Bentley Bar, where he commanded the mic with his versatile, rumbling baritone and charisma.

Freakishly talented in the studio, Omar was a pioneer of the Akai sampler and Atari, deftly recording live sessions straight to DAT. Drawing on industry insights from his sister, Merseybeat firebrand Beryl Marsden—who supported The Beatles on their final UK tour and was signed to Decca and Columbia—the non-conformist sought to build a self-sufficient business model. Between 1998 and 2004, he independently issued four albums on CD through his Hashish Studios imprint, hustling copies directly to local record stores and live shows for instant returns, even hand-sewing screen-printed hessian sleeves for his final release.

Uncompromising in his principles and refusing to suffer fools or charlatans, Omar relished the opportunity to collaborate with those who embodied the same spirit. Hashish Hits offers a snapshot of his inner sanctum—Fitzgerald on the opening track's billowing smoke stacks, the serpentine vocals of Gina Mitchell and the magic hands of mixer Louis Mitchell on 'On Release,' and Wicked Beat Sound System’s Kye on 'Poor Man Beggar Man Thief'. Meanwhile, 'Suicide Bomber' smoulders with the tension of a lost Muslimgauze relic, as the instructional 'Roll Up' and 'The Last Straw' spiral deeper into Omar’s signature production vortex— where space stretches in slow motion and walls reverberate with ricocheting delay.

A true icon of Sydney’s underground scene, the larger-than-life Omar passed away on 23 June 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer. He is remembered for his assertive spirit, larrikin humour, wild anarchic personality, and enduring mantra: “Love and live your life”.1

Existing between Moscow and Milan, Interchain is a group that has been a cornerstone in the Moscow scene through the years, appearing and disappearing as they see fit.

The duo now debuts on L.I.E.S. with their "In My Apartment" lp. This records steps into a world of total disjointed angular electronic no-wave madness, somewhere between Devo and Liasions Dangerous...sharp sequences, thumping dx basslines, freaked out, on the verge of snapping vocals and bugged out textures. This music pushes and pulls the listener around until something just goes off inside of you. These nine tracks are on the boiling point, absolute frantic no-wave energy that will rock the floor.

Jason Singer spent years building Michigander from a DIY solo project in Kalamazoo into a national indie-rock staple through little more than a guitar and a refusal to quit. On his second album, Over Before You Know It, Singer isn’t retreating from the world, but learning how to move through it. The record finds power in the tension of living with both the good and the bad, refusing to let outside noise or internal doubt act as a roadblock. “We spend so much of our lives trying to build something that we never have the time to enjoy. That’s the lesson I’ve learned over the past year,” says Singer. “Tell people you love them. Take care of yourself. Fight for the good. That's what this album stands for.”

For decades, dancers, collectors, and fellow selectors have asked Beppe Loda the same question: "Where do you find these records?” The answer remains classified. What we do know is that few figures in dance music have spent as much time digging, discovering, and championing forgotten sounds as the Italian maestro. Long before algorithms, reissue campaigns, and online marketplaces made obscurity accessible, Beppe was uncovering hidden treasures and introducing them to adventurous dance floors. His influence stretches from the legendary Typhoon club to the present day, inspiring generations of DJs, collectors, and cosmic music devotees along the way. Italian Spaghetti Disco Freak Vol. 5 offers four more clues. Drawn from Beppe's vast archive and lovingly retooled for modern-day disco freaks, these edits are a reminder that the best dance floors are built on surprise. Strange records become anthems, forgotten melodies become obsessions, and once again Beppe proves that nobody keeps dancers guessing quite like he does. By now, the evidence is overwhelming. Beppe's well of Italian disco appears to be bottomless. Every time it seems impossible that another forgotten gem could emerge, the maestro somehow uncovers another one. The mystery continues. Seeking to build with the remnants of forgotten sounds, Mystery Friend is a channel through which all these elements flow and take on meaning, generating a new timeless concept where past and future coexist in harmony. Acid Tracks EP is the debut release from Sebucan Records (SEBR001), a record store based in Montevideo, Uruguay, founded and led by Louis Merlán, a DJ and selector with over 20 years of experience in the electronic music scene. Produced by Argentine artist Mystery Friend, the EP comes wrapped in a visual identity by Uruguayan designer Diego Prado, translating the sonic concept into imagery of analog machinery and vintage mechanisms, weaving a dialogue between the industrial and the mystical that echoes the music from start to finish. Bordello A Parigi Distribution carries this release beyond Uruguay’s borders and into record shops and collectors’ hands around the world. Acid Tracks EP is an invitation to lose yourself in the groove, to let the ancestral and the futuristic merge into a single pulse. Pressed on vinyl, made to sound loud, to dance to in the dark, and to stay with you.

New York’s Ma Sha brings wigged-out rhythms to Nerve Collect with an explosive, future-facing new EP. The six tracks prove she is bound by no rules but knows exactly how to energise the club.

Ma Sha deals in sounds that operate outside the usual boundaries and demand full-bodied, physical reactions. She has become a driving force in the New York underground with Kindergarten, which is both a much-loved party and a much hyped label. Though built on global techno foundations, Sha’s grooves range from peak-time brain melters to more twisted and rugged, always at high tempo and with plenty of invention on labels like Steel City Dance Discs and Rhythm Section International.

‘Salpa’ opens with a clipped rhythm drenched in neon and psychedelic swirls as oversized bass cocoons from below with glitchy vocal fragments and hard but bouncy techno momentum. ‘Gillz’ swallows you in waves of bass and rubber kicks while screwy synths spray across the mix while a syncopated broken beat brings irresistible funk to a post-human world. ‘Shots’, a collab track with Hodge, works in overdrive with rising tones and liquid metal textures that trap you in a hall of mirrors. Intense club pressure builds with pristine percussion and hyperreal vocals.

‘Spinmachine’ is a freaky sound world of fuzzy synths, cantering drums and static electricity that is full of threat and never lets go. ‘Total Energy’ locks into rolling drums and hyping swing with descending leads and a sense of future rave chaos designed for sheer dance floor release.

Ma Sha’s sound designs feel beamed back from the future to rewire familiar rhythms that tickle the brain as they make their way through your entire body.

A2 - Four films?? That’s about as insane as this edit; a swaggering, mop-topped and dubbed-out groover boasting a ph-fat flamenco freakout at its klymaxxx. Would Harvey play it? Dunno, but the bootleg variety definitely already does.

B1 - Shades of Rimini as the pianos set over another rubbery bassline and the Adriatic Sea arpeggiates its ocean spray all over the gaffe. If this ain’t heaven, we’re not sure what is.

B2 - Nothing like a lashing of nutritious Italo-dance slop to carb-o-load the dancefloor at its peak. Just watch as the crowd devours this Ragú of musical flavours, with elements of Disco, New Wave, Acid House and Jazz all thrown in the pot.

Emotional Response presents the first of 2 EPs by Laura Sparrow aka LNS, the Calgary raised, Berlin based producer and DJ with 8 acid-tinged cuts that are equally expansive and inspiring, personal and inventive.

After her debut Malinge Range (cassette) on fellow native Canadian 1080p label in 2016, LNS moved to Berlin and has released a steady stream of 12”s, exploring ambient, dub, electro and techno. Initially appearing on Vancouver émigré’s Jayda G’s (alongside Fett Burger) Freakout Cult label before settling at DJ Sotofett’s cult WANIA label and more recently on the legendary and ‘original’ German techno label, Tresor.

A love of the Roland TR-303, alongside deep diving into breakbeat creation, manipulation, mutation and production, plus some intrepid mixing and post-production assistance, development and support with DJ Sofofett, have led to a collection of some of her favourite music to date.

LNS-ID 1 and LNS ID 2 are the result. Recorded during a burst of creativity through dedication, new studio equipment and learning techniques, as well the necessity of artistic expression in the moment.

Two sets of four tracks based on the acid tradition in the more restless corners of 90s and early 00s Braindance. Acid lines drive the melodies, while drums move between sliced break fragments and the familiar sounds of the Rolant TR-606 and TR-808.

Pads drift in with a warm glow or at times, quiet ghostly tension. The results are music that leans towards atmosphere and memory, something almost nostalgic that was built for those of us who still chase the more expressive edges of acid.

Der Song beginnt mit einem fiesen Bass-Growl, das abrupt in einen Techno-Beat übergeht, der mit klirrender Kuhglocke und scharfer Hi-Hat gespickt ist. „I feel the pressure / Man the pressure I feel when we're together“, singt Sänger Brady Keehn kühl, aber bestimmt, in den ersten Zeilen. Manche Bands finden ihren Groove und bleiben dabei, andere erfinden sich ständig neu. Sextile gehört zu den letzteren, die den Nervenkitzel einer sich ständig verändernden Landkarte genießen. STAR CREATURE is proud to welcome aboard a new collaboration between some of the globe’s heaviest funkers. French disco collective Spaced Out Krew (S.O.K.) and Geneva’s Ghostape have teamed up for two sides of cosmonautical freaky mutant funk selected from vaults by label-head TIM ZAWADA. Drawing inspiration from the backroom and basement boogie bombs of yesteryear, the krew has assembled 2 giant cuts of bass heavy, booty shakers with a dangerous feeling twist, perfect alternative cuts to keep a set on the edge.

What changed between Av. General Roçadas and Junkeira? Seven years in people's lives — yet the team's commitment remains untouched, and the steady hand on the plumb line that keeps dance music (still) upright holds firm. Years of sustained research and field work from both producers, with their own records, mutually independent and independent too in how they brought them to life. Moreno Ácido has been navigating detours through a conceptual yet grounded underground — in sound and in format (two self-released cassettes since 2019) — while keeping one eye on the floor. His post pandemic reawakening carries a clear message: Call to Action is the label that in 2023 put the still-in-demand Trash/Treasure out on vinyl. Diogo keeps Discos Extendes as his shelter, gathering talent and retreating into it. At the same time, a disseminating vocation — that talent turned outward, on a mission to champion the different sensibilities that can converge in music made for dancing.

Junkeira is direct. It hides nothing in its intent, nor does it conceal the origin of its love, nor the way it exercises its fascination with the source. Geography can define movements, described and echoed countless times outside and then inside the net. The signifiers are known to all — it's a matter of applying them with respect and flow. Perhaps the craft in this production really does come down to love, when it comes to it. What is "WTF" if not a declaration of love — at the very least of closeness — to the sonic essence of the English rave? The piano stab, the breaks defining that hardcore state of mind, the string bed lifting feet off the floor. Closing out the EP, "Freak" gathers different emotions — eyes still shut, body in comedown while still moving. Chill. Everything rounded. Bassline, vibes, vocals woven into the rhythm.

Rewinding, the opening track "100 Planos" is a throwback to Roçadas (2019) — harder on the ground, with a 4/4 beat broken up by claps, a circular structure built for DJs, with mix-friendly entry and exit points. Then "Turbo Love" puts the keys in control, foregrounding them, letting a car alarm ring out and balance the beat — a reverential nod to UK Garage felt as raw material, already part of the lineage that has been the continuous evolution from Disco onwards: an evolution that traces a line and its branches, from which you can isolate any chronological point since at least 1977 and combine whatever elements form a personality. The spirit lives, as summer kicks in.

Prozak has been kicking out the garage-house jams for a while now, and always on the best labels, from Time Is Now to Instinct, which is run by Burnski, who also heads up this one. And it's another case of pure fire from the off as 'Freak Ya Right' layers up silky, melodic bass with charged up synth stabs and a bubbly groove. 'No Use For Love' has a darker 90s undercurrent with organ basslines and more coarse percussive textures. 'Classics' cuts loose with an off-balance bassline that's cartoonish and oversized, while 'Ravers Inside' shuts down with plenty of pent-up funk and playful samples that will destroy the floor and nothing less.

Welcome back, hope you've had a good trip so far. While we're digging global tunes, let's not forget what's cooking in our own yards. No less then a new dub don has risen from the wastelands of bratwursts, nutcrackers and garden gnomes: Toni Wobble is looking back on over 20 years of roots in punk, free parties and political movements. From anti-nuclear activism to the Gaggeldub performances, Toni's dug deep into the Dub universe: from Dubstation to Rootsbase to Subardo. By 2012, Toni became a respected operator of Leipzig's Plug Dub Soundsystem. Soon after, he didn't hesitate to create the very own solarpowered Sunplugged sound. Toni's live dub sets hit with all depth and energy of low bass sound culture, shaking the foundations with refreshing freakuency adventures. After a guest spot on our 18th release, helping RUZ dubbing out a deep b-side, it's time to unleash the full Wobble fury on 45Seven!
Out In Da Streetz was born in a lockdown, when urban life got stall, opening space for experiments. Inspired by Juke and Footwork at nights such as Bassmæssage, Toni ventured into Jungle production - the genre him love from way back. The result is an opus of subs, breaks, skanks and dubs. Expect 30 Hertz bass, wobbly midranges, halftime snares and Jungle edits sharp like razor. Don't miss the Ini cameo and hand-made skank work straight from the lab. The result ain't just a track, it's a state of inner and outer emergency, a deep dive into groove, texture and creative chaos.
Irie Cruise rolls up like a cloud of green smoke riding through the streets with a sick ride in a surreal vibe. Rootsy rhythms meet subtle Jungle twists inbetween the twinkles of Dub and the flickers of breakbeats. When the hook drops, the impulse fires up, the lowrider bounces through the turns of skanks, throwing dub delays and gliding deep into the night. By the final tone, you didn't just take a ride, you're actually a bit closer to the sun.
Toni Wobble is giving the full hundred. Dub ain't just a genre, it's a portal to infinite spaces of sound. It's a culture, a process and an attitude, all about echo, bass and space. But it's also about experimentation, consciousness and transformation. Each delay loop is reshaping reality, tearing it down and rebuilding it from the ground up. D.U.B. equals to deep universal beats, the universal frequency... Deep, wide and open. Tune in and dub out!

Tokyo's Realrockdesign collective marks a full 30 years of cross-disciplinary creativity with the first of a planned trilogy. The A-side hands over a crown jewel from West Coast legend DJ Garth's Grayhound catalogue in 'Twenty Minutes Of Disco Glory', which gets remixed by DJ Harvey with a slow, deep, dark and come-to-me groove with a fizzy motif lingering like a trapped bee. The flip turns to German veteran Nectar, who is enjoying some deserved time back in the spotlight and shows why here: 'Fairy Trails' is a deliciously psychedelic descent into the underworld that perfectly befits its title. 'What Tha?' is paranoid and unsure with a writhing bassline, detuned synths bringing a freaky edge and a dubby, shuffling groove that is as inviting as the rest of the track is wonderfully weird.

Barranquilla born multi-instrumentalist Pernett is undoubtedly a true pioneer in fusing Colombian folklore with electronic elements. Back in 2003, when he released his first album “Música Para Pick Up”, Humberto was immediately seen as genius by some, crazy and outrageous by others. How dare he incorporate synthesizers into traditional music? What would be called this avant-garde genre where gaitas, traditional drums and keyboards come together? To this date, Pernett has released 6 albums, worked with an impressive number of prestigious artists such as Phil Manzanera, Calle 13, Novalima, or Quantic, and is still influencing whole generations of forward-thinking musicians.

A-side “Vamos A Hacer - Ben Matik Instrumental Edit” is a joint collaboration between Pernett and renown British producer Will Holland aka Quantic. A heavy blend of funky breaks and cumbia. A 7-minutes version, exclusive to this 10″, has been especially taken out from the masters vault, and edited by Ben Matik: the original short version takes a unexpected turn to a completely freaked-out “Puya” rhythm, where gaitas and synths perfectly merge together.

B-side “El Pajarito - Ben Matik Instrumental Edit” is a deep downtempo anthem, a perfect fusion of powerful electronic beats, 808 bass, analog synths and gaitas. special attention should be paid to the enchanting voice of Diana Pereira on this one.

Solid Groove founder Aubrey returns with a definitive EP that throws it back to the 90s with a collection of tracks from his Cheap Knob Gags label that he headed up with Josh Brent aka Schatrax. 'At The Crack Of Dawn (1999) Knob 5' is hot, humid, muscular house with tight synth loops and dusty layers of texture, then 'Bell Ringer (1999) Knob 5' slows it down with a more pensive and dubby groove. Flipping it once more, 'Does He Rent It Out (1995) Knob 1' is a speedy and tightly coiled rhythm with techno synths, tribal percussion and nods to free-tekno. 'Getting Your Palm Read (1995) Knob 5' is an unhinged and manic tool for the freaks and true to the ADHD nature of this EP, 'Manhole (1999) Knob 6' then slows into jazzy loops before 'Manhood 1996 Knob 2' takes off at full throttle once more. Wonderfully mad.

Mateo Dufour and Cosenza return to Key Records as part of the label’s family, this time joining our second vinyl release with Sweat, representing the Rio de la Plata sound on the dancefloor.

The A-side is led by ‘Sweat’, a high-impact, peak-time track driven by a penetrating vocal and a distinct vintage character. Road-tested over the past months, it has become a true secret weapon in sets by artists such as Traumer and Enzo Siragusa. Following that, ‘Girl (I Want To)’ lowers the intensity, moving into a more groove-driven and sensual territory, creating a natural contrast within the side.

This new volume of Casquiat diesel into the streets of LA and mixes up the raw realities of life and plenty of lyrical and production innovation across mutant rap, hip-hop, breakbeat and dub sounds. 'Mexican Illegals' is a big opener with distorted bass blasts and ice-cold analogue beats with a stylish delivery up top that twists and turns between the drums. 'Fuck Ice (bonus beat)' is menacing and full of swagger with saw tooth synths and infectious syncopation, then 'Pistol Grip Pump' (Casquiat remix) is an early rap sound made freaky with sci-fi production touches and larger than life bars.

Mean Streak (Joe Koshin & SSSLIP) chose Suckerpunch as the vessel for their first outing under the new moniker. 4 killer cuts of nasty, freaky & wigged-out tech house. Proper mean business.

After the success of their first collaborative album Blue House Rockin’, Soul Sugar and Dub Shepherds reunited at the Blue House Studio for a new analog-heavy recording session.



Super Freak is the first single from these sessions: a fiery 70s-style reggae reinterpretation of Rick James’ classic. Led by Jolly Joseph’s signature falsetto, it rides a heavyweight bass line, playful reggae groove, and warm layers of organ, piano, guitar, and Mini Moog, all recorded live on vintage gear.



The journey continues at Bat Records Studio, where Dub Shepherds apply their trademark “hard mix” on 24-track tape,

bending sound, space, and rhythm into a deep dub sorcery.



This 7-inch 45 rpm single features both vocal and dub versions and paves the way for the forthcoming album Blue House Rockin’ Vol. 2.

Bahamadia’s 1996 debut album Kollage is rightly regarded as one of the greatest rap albums of the 1990s. For the first time ever, Be With present the definitive double LP version of this eternal hip-hop classic, including the legendary "Path To Rhythm" which never appeared on the original LP or on vinyl, anywhere. An indelible VIBE from start-to-finish, Kollage presents Bahamadia's swirling rhymes delivered with an irresistibly butter flow and razor-sharp assuredness over a steady slew of smoothed-out, jazzed-up, blunted beats. Achingly cool and effortlessly funky throughout, it's an absolute must for true 90s hip-hop fanatics.

The entire Kollage project was recorded at D&D Studios and the ties to Gang Starr are keenly felt, with DJ Premier producing five tracks in addition to the killer songs Guru had already produced with her. Working with the cream of the mid-90s East Coast sound, Kollage is, accordingly, a record that demonstrates a varied musical taste with disparate influences, as Bahamadia has previously stated: “The title Kollage was a reflection of my state of mind. I first got interested in music from playing my parents’ and grandparents’ records, as well what I heard on the radio. I wanted Kollage to reflect that diversity both lyrically and sonically."

With intelligent, poetic lyricism and a laconic verbal style bursting with both warm texture and deceptive energy, Bahamadia’s flow was as inspired by Aretha and Nancy Wilson as it was Q-Tip, Schoolly D and Lady B. Swaggering out the gate, "WordPlay" finds Bahamadia confidently showcasing her considerable old-school battle-rhyme skills over a Guru beat that utilises an infectiously bouncy bassline with splashes of sultry jazz horns and a Jeru vocal snatch for the hook. Up next, the quietly shimmering and ruggedly beautiful "Spontaneity" is one of the most alluring on the record, Da Beatminerz crafting a brilliantly soulful and jazzy soundscape for Bahamadia's effortless vocals to float across. It's followed by "Rugged Ruff", where the rapper carefully constructs a swift off-beat flow over Premier's raw jazzy fire.

With smooth spacey synth vibes overseen by former Geto Boys producer N.O. Joe, "I Confess" is, without question, a fly love song and soothing (p)-funk groove. "UKNOWHOWWEDU" is an airy, chilled tribute to her hometown. Produced by Ski Beatz & DJ Redhanded, it rides a gloriously mellow break. It's a true Philly anthem, shouting out a who’s who of the entire city’s scene. Early banger "Total Wreck" follows, presenting a murky Guru instrumental elevated by jazzy horns. Bahamadia invokes the title's suggestion, firing her brilliant bars more aggressively than we’re accustomed to. More Beatminerz-brilliance comes in the way of "Innovation", an opportunity for the MC to invoke Freestyle Fellowship in her forward-thinking and literary verses. "Da Jawn" features hometown buddies The Roots, with Black Thought gliding into a back-and-forth with Bahamadia over ?uestlove’s warm, snapping percussion. With the strut club banger "True Honey Buns (Dat Freak Sh*t)", DJ Premier provides some laidback vibrant boom bap for Bahamadia to share a wild, cautionary tale about a night out with her girl, Kia.

Fan favourite "3 Tha Hard Way" is a hypnotically sinister cut, with Bahamadia, K-Swift and Mecca Star taking star turns to coast over DJ Premier’s raw beat whilst the tender "Biggest Part Of Me" is a heartfelt stunner dedicated to her son. Incredibly, only the European and Japanese CD versions of Kollage was released with the brilliantly breezy “Path To Rhythm”, featuring Ursula Rucker. Whilst ostensibly a "bonus track", it's anything but, to our ears. Very much in sonic conversation with KRS-One's stretched-out sleeper classic "Higher Level", it's absolutely essential so we had to include it, appearing on wax for the first time here, exclusively. Quite a coup.

Somewhat predictably, whilst Kollage was released to significant critical acclaim, it suffered from disappointing sales. In the intervening years - and for far too long - it was a criminally underrated record, an increasingly hidden gem. We hope this double LP reissue - which looks and sounds amazing - will go some way to correct this. This 2024 Be With double LP re-issue has been mastered for vinyl by Simon Francis, cut by Cicely Balston and pressed at Record Industry. It's too bold and beautiful to remain overlooked and underserved.

Alarico returns to Mutual Rytm with his 'Drops Of You' EP, packed with his mind-bending signature rhythms while focussing on a more minimal and atemporal approach than before.

Milan-based artist Alarico has firmly arrived on the world stage in recent years. Taking cues from the harder realms of techno of the 90s, he adds his own quirky rhythms and quickened sense of groove to showcase his modern take on the genre. Building on material dropping via his own Katana Records, with high-profile support from bigname DJs across the scene, he breaks new ground again here on this compelling new EP as he returns to SHDW's label Mutual Rytm with 'Drops Of You'.

Excellent opener '0 Kelvin' races out of the blocks with wiry synths and percussion that sounds like knives being sharpened, all over tight, punchy techno drums. 'One More' then gets more twisted with freaky synth line scurrying about the mix while hammering hits and bouncy drum programming races onwards into an unknown future.

'Asma' slips into a deeper but no less impactful groove - the tightly coiled drum funk is overlaid with soulful vocal whispers and militant snares that cannot fail to sweep dancers away. Next, the slick 'Sunburn' keeps the pace high and is another warp-speed techno excursion with bold drum patterns and dry hi-hats cutting up the beats. It's a fulsome sound fleshed out with great synth detail and euphoric vocal cries, before closer 'Drops Of You' layers broken beats, vocal snippets and psychedelic synth colours into an intense and emotional workout.

Alongside the vinyl cuts, three digital-only offerings are also loaded into this one as a trio of treats in the form of 'Sino', 'What For' and 'Erased', with each track harnessing pacy, energetic rhythms, a mix of bright and murky sonics, and tunnelling grooves crafted for maximum impact.

PPP: a whirlwind new link-up between contemporary club heartthrobs Piezo, DJ Plead and DJ Python. A trio of the best in the game come together for a new collaborative project on Facta and K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint.

The project was recorded gradually over a two year period at Piezo’s studio in Milan. Initial sketches were written when Python came to stay for a few days in late 2023. Later, when Plead travelled through the city, he stopped by to add his own contributions - and the record grew incrementally and organically from there across multiple visits.

The initial MO was to workshop a warped take on early 00s minimal and tech house - but at a certain point the record took on a life and soul of its own, spreading out in a number of disparate yet interconnected creative directions: from the peak-time euphoria/melancholia of ‘Wisco’ through to the shoegazed minimal of ‘Plz’, via proggy psychedelia (‘Bborn Again’), glitched Perlon reconstructions (‘Pez’) and downbeat downtempo (‘Coni’).

At points you can clearly hear their individual voices break through: be it Python’s whale-song melodies on ‘Coni’, Plead’s frenetic hand drums on ‘Wisco’, or Piezo’s sound-design freakouts on ‘Pez’. At other points the joins are harder to find as the record takes on a unique voice far beyond the sum of its parts.

Madonna and Big Daddy Kane, Naomi Campbell and Kate Moss — Lord Wavo is back to keep the standards high with the follow-up to his previous Threesome EP. On this sequel Hus picks up where he left off and keeps the same soulful vibes going, still going solo apart from the hook by Miles Bonny and with the menage a trois vibes provided by Buckwild, Prince P, Macapella and Chin Beats.

BLK ODYSSY is an Austin-based artist and producer whose boundary-pushing sound blends soul, hip-hop, rock, funk, and pop. Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, and raised in a household steeped in neo-soul, BLK began channeling his voice through music after the unjust killing of his older brother by police at age 12. That life-altering loss and the experience of growing up Black and male in 21st-century America fuels his raw, layered storytelling. His debut album, BLK VINTAGE (2021), written and produced with close collaborators, served as both a celebration and a critique of Black identity in America. It was met with critical acclaim and re-released in 2022 via Empire as BLK VINTAGE: The Reprise, featuring Mereba, Benny the Butcher, George Clinton, and Baby Rose. The project has since amassed over 100 million streams and positioned BLK ODYSSY as a standout voice in modern soul. His 2023 sophomore album, DIAMONDS & FREAKS, continued his ascent, merging surrealism and social commentary with contributions from Rapsody, KIRBY, Bootsy Collins, Cory Henry, and production from The Alchemist. NPR called BLK “a surrealist R&B auteur,” while Pitchfork praised his ability to bend genre into a cinematic sonic experience. In 2024, following a surreal Tiny Desk performance and festival appearances across Europe—including a headline set at North Sea Jazz Festival and Lollapalooza in Chicago—BLK ODYSSY launched a bold new chapter, with his third studio album, 1-800 FANTASY. The first single from the album, “WANT YOU” (co-produced by Tyler Johnson, known for his work with Harry Styles), marked a shift in tone. That was followed by “XXX” featuring Wiz Khalifa, and “STANK ROSE” featuring Joey Bada$$. Funkadelic’s eleventh studio LP, released in 1979, was more militant in tone than its predecessor 'One Nation Under A Groove' which described a Funk utopia. In contrast, ‘Uncle Jam Wants You’ stated mandate was to “rescue dance music from the blahs”. The album features a 15-minute version of what was to become the Funkadelic’s last hit single ‘(Not Just) Knee Deep’, an edited version of which made no.1 in the US R&B chart. This was Funkadelic’s first album since 1972 not to feature a cover design by artist Pedro Bell (although he did contribute the interior design). A reference to the “Uncle Sam Wants You!” US Army recruitment poster, the sleeve depicts George Clinton aka Dr Funkenstein in a Huey Newton Black Panthers pose. ‘Uncle Jam Wants You’ and Funkadelic-Parliament had a huge influence on Prince, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Bill Laswell, Tupac Shakar, De La Soul and many more across all musical genres. George Clinton’s genius Funk & Style will continue to be an influence for many more years to come... FUNKADELIC Masterminded by the larger-than-life figure of George Clinton, Funkadelic was a key component of his influential P-Funk empire. Funkadelic’s unique combination of Rock, Psychedelia, R&B & Soul led to the band crossing over to the pop mainstream & gaining a vast international following, becoming one of the most important & influential groups in music. On 6 May 1997, Parliament / Funkadelic were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame by Prince. To commemorate six decades of thrilling & delighting fans, George Clinton returned to the stage in 2022 for a series of concerts. At times on the A-side, these tracks are psychedelic…driving bass lines over syncopated claps and rimshots with building, atmospheric swells inviting you to tumble down the manhole into a world of insomniac crime bosses and bleary eyed pleasures. The B side opens with a more techno tempo, but keeps the swirling percussion cooking. The record ends with an ominous daybreaker. You can hear the arrival of a grey dawn.
