Als Gitarrist Grant Green im September 1964 zum ersten Mal mit dem Hammond-Organisten Larry Young
und dem Schlagzeuger Elvin Jones ins Studio ging, um das mitreißende Trio-Album “Talkin’ About!”
einzuspielen, lag Hochspannung in der Luft. Zwischen den drei Musikern entwickelte sich auf Anhieb eine
besondere Chemie, die nach einer Fortsetzung der Zusammenarbeit verlangte. Bereits zwei Monate später
kehrten sie mit dem Vibrafonisten Bobby Hutcherson ins Studio zurück, um das Album “Street of Dreams”
aufzunehmen, auf dem sie sich von ihrer subtileren Seite zeigten. Bei der Zusammenstellung des Repertoires, das von atmosphärischer Eleganz geprägt ist, setzten die Musiker auf seltener gespielte Standards
und Songs, die normalerweise nicht von Jazzinstrumentalisten aufgenommen werden.

Man könnte fast meinen, dass Jimmy Smith um jeden Preis seine Vielseitigkeit beweisen wollte, als er
im Februar 1958 mit seiner Entourage in den Ballsaal des Manhattan Towers Hotels einzog, der von Rudy
Van Gelder in ein Aufnahmestudio umgewandelt worden war. Binnen zwei Tagen machte der Meister der
Hammond-B3-Orgel dort Aufnahmen für drei sehr unterschiedliche Platten. Am 25. Februar zunächst mit
einem mit Blue-Note-Stars gespickten Sextett für das ausgelassene Album “House Party” und das eher
bluesig-andächtige “The Sermon”. Am darauffolgenden Tag ging er mit zwei unterschiedlichen klassischen
Orgel-Trio-Besetzungen erneut zu Werke, um “Softly as a Summer Breeze” einzuspielen - ein schwungvolles
Album mit teils balladesken Standards, einer cool groovenden Eigenkomposition und einem Stück von Thelonious Monk.

Originally released in 1997, Jeffersonville is a hidden gem of late-'90s American indie rock, blending heartfelt songwriting, melodic guitars, and the raw charm of the DIY underground. Formed in Burlington, Vermont, Guppyboy served as an early creative home for musicians who would later go on to form The Sixth Great Lake and The Essex Green, making this album an important chapter in the story of American independent music. This deluxe double LP edition presents Jeffersonville in its most complete form to date, featuring previously unreleased and non-album tracks not included on the original release. Expanding on the original album while preserving its intimate, homespun spirit, this definitive edition shines a new light on a long-overlooked cult favorite. Geometrik Records is delighted to once again play a part in the exclusive recovery of Marcelo Expósito's previously unpublished work, which had been lost since its original creation in the 1980s. Marcelo Expósito is one of Spain's most internationally renowned contemporary artists, whose work is regularly exhibited across Europe and Latin America. He began his career at a very young age during the era of sound experimentation that flourished in the wake of so-called industrial culture, which found particularly fertile ground in Spain. As co-editor of legendary publications such as the fanzine Experiencias (1983) and, above all, the cassette-fanzine publisher Necronomicón (1983-1987), which operated on an international scale, Marcelo Expósito has, in recent years, been reconstructing those of his sound experiments that had been lost for decades. The album we are now presenting brings together material previously released on cassettes as EGK023 in a very limited edition. These tracks have now been remastered and expanded to complete this record, which noise musician Mattin has described as "secret recordings that constitute a gem from the rich Spanish underground of the 1980s". In the words of Luis Alvarado, editor of the Peruvian label Buh Records, this album allows us to appreciate how "Expósito developed a style of his own that understood sound as a malleable material open to chance. The recordings gathered on The Lost Tapes reveal an artist who moves as much through territories of unsettling textures and atmospheres as through zones of abstraction and radical noise". Influenced by the early work of figures such as Maurizio Bianchi, Nurse With Wound, and La Otra Cara de un Jardín, the release of this album provides a key piece in reconstructing the genealogical puzzle of Spanish experimental music. This carefully curated edition-in Spanish and English-includes a lengthy essay by Marcelo Expósito on the creative processes behind his work and the historical context of the industrial culture of the 1970s and 1980s, as well as extensive liner notes contributed by Vittore Baroni, editor of the legendary Italian label Trax; Francisco Felipe, co-founder of the Ars Sonora programme on Radio Clásica (Radio Nacional de España) and one of the most active names on the Spanish experimental scene of the 1980s; Mattin and Susana López (Susan Drone), key figures in the sound experimentation of the generation that emerged in the 2000s; as well as the aforementioned Luis Alvarado.

Phase I marks the recorded debut of Supereon , a Norwegian trio formed in August 2024 and rooted in the ever- evolving Scandinavian jazz scene. Consisting of Alexander Hoholm on double bass, Martin Gjerde on piano, and Raymond Lavik on drums, the ensemble brings together three distinct musical voices in a collective pursuit of sound, texture, and rhythmic interplay. Recorded in June 2025 at Studio Martin in Roros, the album was produced by Hoholm in close collaboration with David Aleksander Sjolie .

The result is a recording that captures both clarity and immediacy, allowing the trio's intricate interplay to unfold with a natural sense of space and depth. At the core of Phase I lies a process rather than a set of compositions. The music is entirely improvised, shaped in real time from short rhythmic ideas that serve as points of departure. From these concise impulses, the trio develops expansive sonic landscapes where repetition, variation, and subtle transformation create a sense of forward motion. Drawing on influences ranging from the minimalism of Steve Reich to the textural sensitivity of Nils Frahm and Olafur Arnalds, Supereon crafts a sound that is at once rhythmic, meditative, and hypnotic. As its title suggests, the album stands as the first chapter in an ongoing journey - one that will continue to unfold in future phases.

Fresh Milk Records proudly presents the launch of its new repress series, Fresh Milk Rewind. The first release, FMRW001, revives three legendary Gass Club anthems originally released in 1998. Featuring rolling grooves by Daryl Bryant and lush vocals by Jo Bryant, this timeless EP has become a must-have for serious collectors. Long-sought after due to its limited original pressing, it is now available once again.

Bridge was to be the Edinburgh-born Kieran Warren’s debut release circa 1994 on Metatone - a short-lived techno label by J. M. Adkins (Electro Music Union) and Damon D'Cruz (Jack Trax, Chill). As fate had it, Metatone folded before the album got printed, and the music was lost in time. That is, until Adkins tipped the Cold Blow boys off while they were working on his anthology, the 2019 double LP "Electro Music Union, Sinoesin & Xonox Works 1993-1994".

Atonal’s Cithare EP last year was the world’s first glimpse at the fuzzy, warm techno archives of Kieran Warren. As a sequel, Cold Blow has restored and compiled their vision of the ‘94 “Bridge” while tapping into the same demo archives that were being scoured through by Metatone in their day.

Essential for the fans of early Aphex Twin, the album moves between warm melodic techno cuts and nostalgic ambient pieces before reaching the grand finale of Arkanoids, an 8-minute ambient epic straight from the school of Selected Ambient Works 2.

Through his productions, DJ sets and close ties to a network of like-minded artists, he has helped shape a contemporary sound defined by tension, detail and forward momentum. For his curation, the focus lies on connection. Bringing together artists operating within a shared sonic language, the release reflects a generation where precision, movement and emotional depth exist in constant dialogue. The record opens with Connection, a first official collaboration between Yanamaste and Alarico. The track captures the intersection of both artists' approaches: Yanamaste's intricate and distinctive synth work meets Alarico's driving, forward momentum. Fast, pulsing and tightly controlled, it unfolds through cycles of tension and release, stripped back to its essential elements. On Crimson Leaf Minstre, Toru Ikemoto builds a detailed and contrasting sound palette. Bright, delicate elements interact with darker stabs that disrupt and reshape the rolling bassline, creating a sense of movement that feels continuous rather than moment-based. The track leans into depth and variation, balancing clarity with a more mysterious tone. Blue Lights by Lea Occhi & Amotik shifts into a more groove-led space. What begins with a functional framework gradually opens up - subtle chords and restrained vocal elements add texture and attitude without overtaking the structure, resulting in a track that feels both light and deep. Closing the record, IB1809 sees Alarico return with a defining statement. Reduced but highly present, the track builds around a strong rhythmic core, where chords, melody and vocal fragments interlock with precision. There is a sense of contrast at play - melancholic yet driven, vulnerable yet forceful - culminating in a moment that feels both functional and expansive. Across all four tracks, the release remains tightly focused - fast, dynamic and cohesive, with a strong emphasis on movement and detail. As the fifth entry in the series, it captures a distinctly modern strain of techno, where emotional nuance and rhythmic intensity are no longer in opposition, but fully aligned. Bat by Toobris opens the record with a powerful, straightforward statement. Francisco D’Argento may not have been a pioneer of the Italo Disco movement that emerged in the late 1970s and early 1980s, but his sun-soaked, refined approach captured the spirit of the era with unmistakable charm.

While D’Argento received critical attention from local press and music journals, his work unfortunately never connected with a wider audience. In later years, his output gradually slowed, and his early recordings slipped into obscurity.

With the support of the D’Argento estate, this forgotten gem has been lovingly restored and remastered from the original ½-inch tape, bringing new life to an overlooked piece of Italian electronic music history.

This release presents the original version, an uptempo, high nrg direct italo cut featuring D’Argento’s own vocals, alongside the voice of his second wife, actress and model Eleanora D’Argento.

Donald Dust delivers a powerful and thumping rework for the A2 the “Squish Mix”, a stretched-out, dubbed-out interpretation built for those late-night, hot and heavy dancefloors.

Dr Valentine takes things into the cosmos with the “Nello Spazio Mix”, slowing the tempo and drifting into hypnotic space.

James Pennington, aka the Suburban Knight, returns to the Resistance as Dark Energy, a totally unknown form of matter that with this double pack again frustrates the programmers of sound as they have no counter for it. Concise collection of folkloric grime instrumentals to rise from a new moniker taken on by the elusive First Circle. A breadcrumb trail of effortlessly crafted early 2000s-era grime, trap and drill instrumentals can be found on a fairly sparse Soundcloud account and numerous NTS shows spanning the last ten years, on which he is known to play almost entirely his own material. Now a different energy takes hold on »Ley Lines«: ten tracks by the enigmatic producer to be released both on a label and in physical format for the first time.

»Ley Lines« was born from a meandering quest through South London’s more leafy dwellings. These cherished regions became a place of refuge in which to ruminate on the hopes that love and community can outlast the dwindling state of Britain’s social and political climate. Photo documentation was made which would later form the genesis for each track, and a return to the studio resulted in something which could not be fitted into the existing First Circle discography.

Harpsichord and brass samples (»A Plan Is Formed«, »Hilly Fields«) are underpinned by murky bass loops and tight militaristic percussion – motifs recognisable amongst white label grime’s most influential producers (Wiley, Skepta, Lewi White etc.) that push the formula into far more rapturous territories than any of FC’s previous productions. The more introspective moments of the album (»Wares at the Ivy House«, »Blythe Vision«) put local field recordings and devotional reverberant ambience to the forefront, alluding to St Circul’s proto-dungeon synth influences and giving the whole album a unique world all its own.

Veröffentlicht als Teil von Boomkats ,Documenting Sound"-Reihe war diese Veröffentlichung eine Offenbarung, die über die hochintensiven Hard-Drum-Kracher hinausging, die über Livity Sound, Nervous Horizon und sein eigenes Label Sumac erschienen waren, hin zu einem eher ambienten Ausbruch seiner markanten Percussion und gewundenen Maqam-Melodien. ,Please" ist ein noch intimeres Werk, dessen Cover eine Nahaufnahme von Beeler zeigt , der in der einen Hand eine Tasse Kaffee hält, in der anderen seine Habseligkeiten. Handy, Schlüssel, Tabletten, Tiger Balm. Es ist eine zutiefst persönliche Darstellung des Alltags, die die gemächliche emotionale Resonanz der Trackliste des Albums widerspiegelt. Ein melancholischer Ambient folgt auf das verzierte Dahintuckern von ,Seven Eight, Too Late", das von Downtempo-Atmosphären heimgesucht wird. Das sanft groovende Klavier, die Gitarre und der Bass des Abschlussstücks ,Traffic" verschmelzen mit dem organischen Nachhall und Verklingen von Raum und Zeit. ,Ich fühle mich nicht ganz wohl dabei, diese Tracks zu veröffentlichen. Ich fühle mich verletzlich", sagt Beeler, der Smalltown Supersound-Labelchef Joakim Haugland als entscheidend für die Verwirklichung von ,Please" würdigt. ,Ich bezweifle, dass diese Demos jemals von jemandem gehört worden wären, wenn er sie nicht aus dem Ordner geholt hätte." Aber haben wir nicht Glück, dass er es getan hat? Die schwülen Keyboard-Improvisationen des Albums bei Höhepunkten wie ,Right On Time", ,Pa700" und ,Open Era" sind eingebettet in eine Mischung aus schwankenden Found Sounds und mikrotonalen Läufen. ,Bei einigen Songs spiele ich auch einfach nur Keyboard über einem Loop, den ich erstellt habe. Da gibt es nicht viel Produktion oder Glanz, hinter dem man sich verstecken könnte", erklärt Beeler. ,Gerade diese Tracks wirken ziemlich roh." Diese behutsamen Schritte außerhalb von Beelers ästhetischer Komfortzone aus Kontrolle und Funktion hin zu ungefilterter Offenheit erzeugen eine spannende Spannung. ,Please" nähert sich gekonnt jenem schwer fassbaren Punkt zwischen Distanziertheit und Sentimentalität, wo das Alltägliche, das Spezifische und das leicht Absurde auf das Tief empfundene und aufrichtig Bewegende treffen.

"aethermead", das neue und 20. Studioalbum von Of Montreal, lässt die Sounds der frühen Jahre wieder aufleben, während es gleichzeitig die künstlerischen Grenzen ihres unverkennbaren Indie-Pop/Rock-Stils erweitert. Frontmann & Songwriter Kevin Barnes, bekannt für seinen einzigartig-produktiven Output und großartigen Kollaborationen mit Künstlern wie Solange, Janelle Monáe und Jon Brion, nahm die LP mit Toningenieur Drew Vandenberg (Faye Webster, Toro y Moi) in seinem neuen Heimatort Brooklyn auf. Entirely written and composed by UK producer Pizza Hotline (apart from "GLACIER ZONE", a collaboration between Pizza Hotline and DJ Total 90), the stellar 8-song album was initially released as a limited cassette in January 2022 and quickly gained cult status - making a full-on vinyl release quite the necessity. It’s here now with the the previously unreleased track "POLYGON DREAMSCAPE" (which sounds as magical as its title) and 45rpm cut for louder, bigger, deeper bass rumbling.

Spellbinding, atmospheric, and beautifully melodic, Level Select is a large scope dreamy adventure of liquid DnB filled with ambient escapades, ethereal jungle, high vibe breaks, and a heavy loving dose of late 90s / early 2000s video game influences. For Fuse's fifth release, Brussels' Altinbas returns for a whirlwind of meditative and harmonious techno. Solidifying his identity of focused yet vibrant club music, the Fuse resident and label co-curator offers his second contribution 'Sustain' as a dancefloor-enveloping take on modern techno. Known for rich chords, whipping pads, and dry percussion, Altinbas proves once again that his touch as a producer revolves around balance and calculated effect.

'Trail of' kick starts the EP with flourishing synthwork and a taste of dub as has become the Belgian artist's signature. Dotting toms as rhythmic accents and a low to the ground shaker make for a swaying introduction with an infectious groove. Breaking things up in the second track, 'Life Force' presents Detroit style chord stabs and playful rhythmic work. With a mental synth at the foundation, the track presents 909 drums to reinvigorate atmospheric synths that make 'Life Force' a subtle hybrid of classic club genres. With a wink at Fuse's heritage and a peak into its future, Altinbas' focus on enduring music can be felt throughout 'Sustain' and truly understood in the Brussels club. As a fitting follow up, 'Purpose' opens the B-side with illuminating chords and rounded sound design and a pulsating low-end. With almost a lighthearted tone, the record fits across genres and rooms, claiming movement instead of mood as its sole medium. The title track 'Sustain' proves just that - a melodic sequence and progressive arrangement make for an intensely euphoric closing.
