Balladen spielen in der Geschichte der Rockmusik eine ganz besondere Rolle. Einerseits dokumentieren sie die emotionale Seite des Genres und
zeigen, dass hinter (fast) jeder harten Rockerbrust ein weiches Herz schlägt. Zudem werden ruhigere Nummern auch in weniger Rock-affinen
Radiosendern gespielt – und von den Hörern für ihren gefühlsbetonten Tiefgang geliebt. Und drittens: Balladen sind in einer zunehmend hektischer
werdenden Welt oftmals kurze Momente des Innehaltens, des sich Besinnens auf die wesentlichen Dinge des Lebens. Kein Wunder also, dass die
Balladen-Compilations der Axel Rudi Pell Band ein absolutes Erfolgsmodell sind. Allein von ‚The Ballads I‘ (1993) bis ‚The Ballads V‘ (2017) sind weit
mehr als 250.000 Exemplare über den Ladentisch gegangen. Unter den aktuellen Top-10 der über Spotify meist gestreamten Pell-Songs befinden sich
allein neun (!) Balladen! Die Beweislast ist also erdrückend, wenn Fans des Bochumer Gitarristen und Songschreibers regelmäßig auf eine Fortsetzung
dieser Veröffentlichungsreihe drängen. Mit Erfolg: Am 21. April 2023 erscheint ‚The Ballads VI‘ als CD, Doppel-Vinyl-LP und digitaler Download, wie
gewohnt über Steamhammer/SPV und wie nicht anders zu erwarten mit kleinen Überraschungen. ‚The Ballads VI‘ ist somit nicht nur die neueste
Ausgabe der beliebten ARP-‚The Ballads‘-Serie, sondern auch der direkte Nachfolger des Studioalbums ‚Lost XXIII‘, das sich im April 2022 auf Platz 2
der deutschen Verkaufs-Charts platzieren konnte.

Kram is a new project featuring members from Sudakistan - On the
project, Kram has moved on from Sudakistan's trademark combination of
punk, garage rock, psychedelia and latino rhythms in favour of a more
atmospheric sound that takes influence from kraut and hip hop but also
Swedish indie rock and pop without losing the energy that made
Sudakistan one of Scandinavia's most loved live bands and lead them to
EU, UK & US tours featuring appearances on festivals such as Roskilde
and SXSW
The album is out released by PNKSLM Recordings (ShitKid, Les Big Byrd, Sibille
Attar etc.)

Heute auf dem Geschenketisch: Eine Vinyl-Neuauflage vom lange vergriffenen Longplayer "VI". Das 2013 veröffentlichte Album steht auch kurz vor einem runden Geburtstag und darf endlich wieder über die Plattenspieler rasen! Wer den Onslaughtklassiker noch nicht kennt: Wir können versprechen, dass es hier pfeilschnellen, aggressiven und erstklassig gespielten Thrash Metal zu hören gibt, der mit einer Überdosis Adrenalin ausgestattet ist, der trotz aller Brutalität aber stets eingängig bleibt. Klasse Platte einer wichtigen Band.

Nach dem längsten Winterschlaf aller Zeiten - die neue Spidergawd! Aufgenommen und gemischt in den Sörgarden Studios September 2020, und das erste Spidergawd-Album mit Brynjar Takle Ohr an der Co-Leadgitarre. Mit der Einführung zweier Leadgitarren hat die Band endgültig ihr musikalisches Rückrad gefunden. 'VI' konkretisiert dieses Neue Inkarnation mit voller Power! Zurück ist auch Saxophonist Rolf Martin Snustad, der die Band 2019 verlassen hat. Spidergawd machen exakt da weiter, wo sie schon bei S. 'IV' und S. 'V' aufgehört haben. Der Unterschied diesmal ist der Co-Songwriter Brynjar Takle Ohr, während sich beim Vorgänger noch Bassist Hallvard Gaardløs als Co-Pilot austoben durfte. Die jetzt aus fünf Musikern bestehende Band liefert wuchtigen Hardrock mit klassischen 80er-Jahre-Reminiszenzen, zitiert Bands wie Thin Lizzy & Co und zeigt dabei unmissverständlich auf, 'wo der Barthel den Most holt'.
Eine umfangreiche Europa-Tour ist für 2022 in Planung!
Das abermals aufwendige und ansprechende Artwork ist der wieder der Idee der grafischen Wiedererkennungsmerkmale bei Spidergawd geschuldet.

East Coast minimal wave institution Xeno & Oaklander’s seventh full-length further distills their iconic noir synth pop into a streamlined suite of gleaming, graceful retrofuturism. Inspired by ideas of synesthesia, scent, star worship, and obsolescent technologies, the duo of Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride began conceiving the blueprint of Vi/deo while sequestered at their Southern Connecticut home studio during the pandemic. The context of isolation, streaming, and remote dreaming seeped into their chemistry, manifesting as both homage to and meditation on a certain cinematic strain of technicolor fantasy: the screen as stage, distance disguised as intimacy, where tragedy and glamor crossfade into one.



Opening with the precision synthetic melancholy of “Infinite Sadness,” the album marks a peak fluidity between the pair’s fusion of analog electronics and poetic melody, both refined and oblique, classic but contemporary. Wendelbo modeled her singing on “a young boy in a choir,” alternately holding notes and whispering them, with the lyrics clear, the voice elevated. LA-based rockers The Bronx return for their sixth studio album 'Bronx VI' which comes out worldwide on Cooking Vinyl August 27th. Bronx VI builds on the legacy The Bronx has established in its near two-decade existence, but which definitely proves the door to what’s next has not just been kicked down, but chopped up and burned to a cinder. Yes, the first four tracks – “White Shadow”, “Superbloom”, “Watering The Well” and “Curb Feelers” – bristles with the wild and untamed energy that’s defined the band from the off, but then – all of a sudden, as “Peace Pipe” kicks in – the pace and mood shifts to something a little less aggressive. Elsewhere, “Mexican Summer” and its (relatively) chilled-out mariachi vibes serve as an homage to the band’s alter-ego, Mariachi El Bronx (and was written while that incarnation of the band was on tour), while fatalistic closer “Participation Trophy” masks the Caughthran’s existential dread behind searing riffs and a catchy, defiant and exuberant melody. “The feelings I got when writing for this sixth record is the same type of feeling I got writing “Heart Attack American”. It all comes from the same place and it’s all still 100% genuine and real. Believe me – I’m still feeling the raw emotion that I felt when this band first started. Coming from Oslo, Norway, Bizarrekult is bridging the two identities of it mastermind - philosophical depth
of frozen Siberian steppe and the majestic beauty of Norwegian soil on this debut album. Bizarrekult was
formed back in 2006 as a response to the chaos of the surroundings and already with
a first demo got attention through 2000 copy split CD release. However, following the second studio demo
and then a two track rehearsal demo in Bergen, the project was laid on ice. “Vi Overlevde” (we survived)
speaks to the heart of every post-Black Metal fan that is looking for something different. The tracks
are filled with great riffing and beautiful melodies, tightly connected to the lyrical themes of frustration,
despair, sorrow, forgiveness and finally - hope.

The sixth album by Rhys Celeste aka Microlith on Fundamental. "We always tried to release all the tracks Rhys sent to us as best as possible and this new album follows the same concept, design and the same quality standards, the best." Fundamental Records has the authorization and full support of the Rhys family to release this album and also the previous albums that Rhys composed during the years 2015 and 2016, albums that never were released on vinyl before. "We can proudly say we did all we can to keep the music of Rhys alive and available on vinyl in the best possible quality. All tracks have been thoroughly mastered for the best possible sound quality." This is the last project that will be released under the Fundamental Records label. Gerd Janson, Lexx, Bell Towers, Belia Winnewisser, DJ Kaos and Never4ever remixed Ethimm’s By Night EP.

We all know Nights are nicer when you are with your friends, so Ethimm asked some of his old friends and favorite acts to remix his recent EP ‘By Night’. Quite a few hopped on the bandwagon: Germany’s most prolific remixer and DJs DJ Gerd Janson turned Ethimm’s ‘Lies’ into a relentlessly deep and driving house cut with drums reminiscent of New Order. Balearic boss Lexx stripped the track down to its bare vocal and rebuilt it with a 90ies New York vibe. Bell Towers added his prototypical leftfield approach to ‘Don’t Go Away’, while Berlin’s legendary DJ Kaos remade it into a classic acid stomper. The remix EP is completed by newcomer Never4Ever’s breakbeat treatment of the same track and swiss experimental queen Belia Winnewisser’s treatment of ‘Island Jam’.

Zodiak Commune Records presents the sixth and last release of the White Cyclus series: Called ZC-KORE003 - White Cyclus VI EP. This time Zodiak Commune Records zooms in on Italian producer Acidevice. He started out in 2012, since 2016 as Acidevice. His style is a mix of Acid Techno, Hardcore Techno and lo-fi elements. All content is produced by Acidevice. For the third track he joined forces with JM23, a close friend from Spain.

The legendary Moscow club Propaganda celebrates its 20th Anniversary in April 2017 and launches a brand new record label. The label will cover different styles of intelligent electronic music, focusing on techno in the first year. At the beginning there will be released music by great artists who had performances at Propaganda club in past. More artists will be involved and more excellent music will be released over time.

Sex Tags Amfibia presents Norwegian/Sami multi-crafted artist Geir Tore Holm's landmark sound piece "Writing in snow" - a typically poetic, funny and down to earth approach to nature, sound and every day reflections in the artists trademark style. Holm has since the early 90's been part of breaking down the established notion of ruling institutional qualities in Norway with countless projects involving sculptures, food, installations, farming, photography, video, sound & music (also incl. on AMFIBIA 10 - Sørfinnset Skole/the nord land 10"). This piece is feat. on a one sided flexi disc - an easily transportable and physical presentation of a sonic piece - outside the galleries and museums, and rather in peoples homes.

Optimo Music präsentiert eine neues Sublabel, das auf den Namen So Low hört. There´s not much known about Fabror Resande Mac but them hailing from Stockholm Sweden and having released even fewer matrial yet... an ep on Afficicionado and one on Back to Baleraics.
But both to much applause and already being sought afterness.
FRM do masterfully crafted, slow paced (pacific) coastal sound with all the ingredients for making you long for more. Steady bass pulses, mechanical percussion, punctual punches make waves from underwater to hyperspace - seductively deep and almost see through light.

Once again, Perm has turned just the right knobs to give you the perfect soundtrack for your personal journey into Techno wonderland. The Leipzig based wizard simply knows how to leave dancers both dizzy and beatific. When those strings in "03-VIII" come together to its climax you're more than ready to embrace the night. The focus in "03-IV" is more heavy on the drum work with just the right amount of subtle tripping hazards. "03-III" builds and builds without ever bubbling over while the mighty "03-VIII" comes with a Boom-Tschak-Electro feel to it. The artwork comes courtesy of Carl-Johannes Schulze.

February 2014 saw the band release their 'Back To Bagarmossen' EP on London/Stockholm indie label PNKSLM Recordings. The 10' vinyl received huge praise both internationally and at home, even picking up mainstream TV coverage on Sweden's TV4. Following the EP, Les Big Byrd are now preparing to unleash their debut full length release, 'They Worshipped Cats', on Anton Newcombe's A Records ,Anton has co written & plays 2 tracks on the album . They are supporting the Brian Jonestown Massacre on their European tour . When Anton recently visited Stockholm with his band The Brian Jonestown Massacre, the guys accidentally ran into each other at a local record shop, and started talking about music. Anton invited the band down to his studio in Berlin to record and jam for a few days and it was there that a big part of "They Worshipped Cats" was conceived and recorded. Les Big Byrd was formed in Stockholm by Joakim Åhlund and Frans Johansson a couple of years ago. They each eventually joined different rock bands that brought them out of Sweden and into a different world. Frans' band Fireside, got signed by Rick Rubin to his label Def American and Jocke had a taste of international success with 60's-influenced garage-pop outfit Caesars, as well as his other, more electronically flavored project Teddybears. They decided that they still - in spite of everything - had their love for music intact, and the dream in common to get the perfect band together and give it one more shot. They recruited Jocke's former bandmate, drummer Nino Keller and keyboardist Konie and started jamming and rehearsing. Joakim had been running a recording studio in Stockholm, writing and producing for Swedish and international artists, including Robyn and Håkan Hellström, and had also directed music videos for prominent Swedish exports such as Bob Hund, Refused, Broder Daniel and The International Noise Conspiracy. Keyboardist Konie also runs a studio in Stockholm, where he's been recording a number of film scores as well as many of Swedens most interesting black metal acts.
