Banana Stand vinyl. I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone is Wednesday's second fulllength album & first as a full band. The Asheville, NC quintet (guitarist/ vocalist Karly Hartzman, lead guitarist Daniel Gorham, pedal steel guitarist Xandy Chelmis, bassist Margo Schultz & drummer Alan Miller) maximizes the dark dissonance of a three guitar attack to highlight the emotionality of Hartzman's bell-clear vocals & wisps of half-recalled memories & literary references that make up her lyrics. I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone's eight songs meld elements of shoegaze, grunge, indie pop & southern American culture into a uniquely personal style of modern rock music that resonates with power & tenderness. The ever-darkening & deepening of Wednesdays' sound on I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone owes a debt of influence to The Swirlies, Arthur Russell, Red House Painters, Tenniscoats, Ana Roxanne, Acetone, & their continued collaboration with MJ Lenderman (who lends backing vocals to the songs "Billboard" & "November"). I Was Trying to Describe You to Someone was recorded at Hartzman's home with engineering assistance from her roommate Colin Miller. The depth & clarity of the recordings balance the distorted volume of Wednesday's live performances with the intimacy of Hartzman's voice. Her words hold the center of the chaos, unobscured by the power of the band. Hartzman describes her lyrics as "attempts to access old personal memories & do them justice through prose, with inspiration from the writings of Richard Brautigan, Flannery O'Connor, David Berman & Tom Robbins, & movies like Steel Magnolias."

From the sunny shores of Miami, Florida, Fat Produce is leading the charge in today's soul-jazz scene. Their latest release features two classic tracks, "No Way" and "54-46 Was My Number," which are beautifully molded into Fat Produce's unique sound led by guitarist Addison Rifkind and drummer Michael Duffy. This limited 7" single offers a preview of what’s to come from this rising trio.

The influence of Boogaloo Joe Jones is undeniable, so incorporating his 1970s classic "No Way" into their repertoire was a fitting tribute for the band. With a deeper sound and an infectious groove, Fat Produce pays homage to this musical giant, guaranteed to get everyone moving on the dance floor. On the flip side, "54-46 Was My Number" is a reimagination of a Toots & The Maytals original, transformed into the instrumental style of a soul-jazz guitar trio. Rifkind's lyrical guitar work breathes new life into Toots' original vocal melodies, embodying the essence of soul-jazz and crossing genres to keep the spirit of feel-good music alive.

Both tracks were recorded on a Tascam 388 at Studio Del Sol in Boca Raton, Florida, by Travis Acker and mixed at The F-Spot HQ in Los Angeles by D.M.C. With upright bassist Nestor Del Prado joining the duo on this album, Fat Produce's forthcoming sophomore LP is set to be released in October 2025.

The vinyl is a collaboration between two indie labels KXNTRAST and U JAZZ ME.

The record was pressed on 180g vinyl with printed innersleeve.

HER NAME WAS YUMI is the title of hoshii's second studio album, created by saxophonist Kuba Więcek in late 2022. On this album, the musicians deliberately free themselves from the burden of European music genres, exploring sounds that carry a spark of hope and a free spirit. In the musical layer, they focus on deep synthesizer basslines, intensification of electronic sounds and an extensive layer of samples, redefining their approach to composition.

The album title refers to YUMI (夢美 - from Japanese "beautiful dream") - a friend of hoshii who brings him to Earth when he feels tired of life on the distant planet Versus. However, even among earthly sounds, loneliness becomes inevitable. At the right moment, YUMI, overcome with longing, decides to fly and find her friend.

HER NAME WAS YUMI is a musical journey full of experiment, freedom and a new sonic identity. The album shows hoshii in a new version - even more conscious, bold and not limited by genre frames.

Kuba Więcek - alto saxophone, electronics

Grzegorz Tarwid - synthesizers

Max Mucha - bass guitar, synthesizers

Miłosz Berdzik - drums, glockenspiel

Second solo album by Arthur Satan, released on Born Bad, after 'So Far So Good', his pop solo debut, which was a pleasant surprise for fans of his notthat-garage group JC Satan 'A Journey That Never Was' is so big you'll need special furniture to accommodate this unreasonable, maximalist parade, crammed full with 1960s pop influences.

The record plays with heritage like a kid would unabashedly plan for a birthday party. No stupid treasure hunt, we're bowling with the heads of our foes, guitars are literally bleeding through the mix. T-Rex burgers, fountains of chocolate choruses dripping on Brian Wilson - shaped giant cookies: let's indulge. Each song is a musical family, each verse is an album, each riff is a title. In his Christmas gift list, Arthur probably circled absolutely every toy: his taste for completism never disappoints. He played almost every instrument, mixed the album and designed a whole graphic universe to go along with it. A visual artist by trade, also made a point of drawing a monumental fresco spreading out the fantasy landscape that haunts this album.

Sweden was a well-known scene for some of the best garage rock bands emerging in the 80s. The Backdoor Men may have been the most brilliant example of them all with the amazing vocalist Robert Jelinek, also known for his achievements with The Creeps. During a few years The Backdoor Men released some of the most epic jangly garage/pop/folk there was, decades before bands like The Hives. On this definite compilation everything is included – the singles, the cassettes, the demos. Enjoy a piece of 60s style dance blast.

With deep roots in jazz and a knack for blending it seamlessly with experimental music, drum & bass, and beyond, Titus has earned a reputation as a world-class drummer and a dynamic force across the national musical landscape. Growing up in Chicago's vibrant music scene, Titus flourished alongside fellow young artists in the early 2010s. His work quickly positioned him as a key figure in the city's jazz, hip-hop, and R&B communities, leading to collaborations that propelled him to national recognition. Continue to follow the thread of Luke Titus' many contributions to jazz and alternative scenes across America, and what emerges is a singular weave between his roots in Chicago, LA and New York communities. From What Was Will Grow A Flower is the second LP from the prolific young songwriter and producer, codifying his many musical leanings into an emergent, nearly clairvoyant statement of musical intent. Blooming and innovative songwriting, effervescent vocal hooks, virtuosic instrumental passages, and meticulously studied production techniques abound. About the album, Titus says "This album is about spirituality and connectivity, both with the universe and the self, as told through my personal journey. It questions reality as a way to deepen one's connection to it. I dedicate this album not only to anyone who has been through hard times, but to anyone who relates to the cyclical nature of the human experience. And more than that, I dedicate this album to my mom." As a producer and songwriter, Titus' fingerprints can be found on numerous acclaimed projects, including Noname's Room 25, Luke Titus & Cisco Swank's Some Things Take Time, Orion Sun's Orion, and Ravyn Lenae's Hypnos. Schnuppe sind Diana, Kat und Mel, aus Köln. Spätberufene Newcomerinnen, wenn man so will.

Midwest band Church Tongue have announced they have signed to Pure Noise Records and will release EP "You'll Know It Was Me" on 14th February 2025. The 6 track EP continues its complex, uncompromising and emotionally charged sound with guest features from Colin Young (Hardlore podcast), George Clarke (Deafheaven), and Crystal Pak (Initiate)"You’ll Know It Was Me is a short record about love. Love looks like a lot of things, and each track touches on it in its own way." says Mike Sugars. "People close to me have heard about me wanting to make this kind of record for a long time. I just hadn’t grown enough to realise the dream of it, and I knew it had to be a Church Tongue record. I’ve been with this band, these guys, for the majority of my life now. I’ve made records with other bands, and so have the other guys, but this idea felt sacred to my beginnings. I knew this record was in us, was who we are, and I’m honoured to have made it with my brothers."
