No-One Driving is a collection of John Foxx singles and B-sides, all released 45 years ago in 1980 and now set for release on black vinyl. Includes the singles ‘Underpass’, ’No-One Driving’, ‘Burning Car’ and ‘Miles Away’, the latter hinting at a new direction after the minimalism of his 1980 album, Metamatic. Some of Foxx’s strongest work is on the B-sides with the likes of ‘Film One’ and ‘Mr. No’ being particular Aphex Twin favourites, while ’This City’ could easily have been a single in it’s own right. An alternative take on ‘20th Century’ became the theme for the Janet Street-Porter TV magazine show, 20th Century Box which was first broadcast by London Weekend Television in 1980, but this B-side remains the definitive, full fledged version. To complete the album are two tracks - ‘Cinemascope’ and ’To Be With You’ - which were later constructed by Foxx out of original cassette recordings, notes and lyrics from the Metamatic sessions and have never been released on vinyl before.

Conceptualized and written during the chaotic fall months of 2020, Hiss Golden Messenger’s O Come All Ye Faithful recorded shortly after the widely hailed Quietly Blowing It is a meditation on grace, loss, hope, and community. Explains songwriter M.C. Taylor, “Big, brash holiday music the type that we hear in big box stores in the middle of December has never resonated with me, and this past year it felt absolutely dissonant. I wanted to make a seasonal record that felt more in step with the way that I, and so many others, experience this time of year: quiet, contemplative, searching, and bittersweet.” Contributors to O Come All Ye Faithful include many members of Hiss Golden Messenger’s extended family, as well as special guests like GRAMMY Award winner Aoife O’Donovan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Erin Rae, and Buddy Miller. dancer and choreographer Faizal Mostrixx"s singular vision of
East African electronic music is a lush sonic tapestry of
polyrhythms, modern dancefloor styles, amapiano, Nile basin
ceremonial chants and Pan-African field recordings. A stalwart
of the explosive Kampala electronic music scene Mostrixx has
collaborated with the Nyege Nyege collective appearing at both
the African and European editions of their festival. Mutations is
Faizal"s second full length album, following close on the heels of
his acclaimed digital EP Transitions (May 2022 / Glitterbeat). In
their review of Transitions, The WIRE noted: "If today"s currents
in East African electronic music have a more mainstream
destiny, this might be how it starts."

It's spring of 2023 in the North Carolina Piedmont, and songwriter and singer M.C. Taylor - leader of the band Hiss Golden Messenger - is feeling alive. Joyful. Eternal, he might say. For the Grammy-nominated musician, whose albums have traced an internal path through adulthood, fatherhood, spirituality, and depression for well over a decade, this is something new. "The tunes on Jump for Joy were composed in free moments throughout 2022, a year during which Hiss was on the road more or less constantly," explains Taylor. "And perhaps because the post-pandemic energy out in the world felt so chaotic and uncertain, I found myself thinking a lot about the role that music has played in my life and how exactly I ended up in the rarefied position of leading a band and crew all over the globe through dingy graffiti-scrawled green rooms, venerated music halls, dust-blown roadside motels.

Sometimes playing in front of 5,000; sometimes 200. Sleeping sitting up. Laughing until my stomach hurts. Not being able to fall asleep at 3 a.m. in some anonymous bed because my mind is spinning with anxiety or depression or adrenaline, or because my ears are still ringing. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, then robbing Paul to pay Peter back. Over and over again. It's an outlaw life but one, I'm coming to realize, that makes me happy." The songs that make up Jump for Joy - the sharpest and most autobiographical that Taylor has written under the Hiss name - read as a sort of epistolary, postcards between the present-day songwriter and his alias Michael Crow, a teenaged dreamer very much like Taylor himself, who trips his way through the 14 tunes that make up the record. In this way, Jump for Joy is a meditation on a life lived with art, and the ways that our hopes and dreams and decisions bump up against_ and, with a little bit of luck, occasionally merge with real life. "Creating this character became the way that I could explore these vulnerable, tender moments that were so decisive in my life, even if I didn't know it at the time," explains Taylor.

Produced by Taylor and engineered by longtime Hiss compatriot Scott Hirsch over two weeks in the late fall of 2022 at the fabled Sonic Ranch studio in Tornillo, TX, just a short walk from the Mexican border, Jump for Joy dances with joyful, spontaneous energy that feels like a fresh chapter in the Hiss Golden Messenger oeuvre. A compilation of tracks that rearrange Okinawan folk songs into Jazz Funk, crossover, and large ensemble jazz, featuring works by Kiyoshi Yamaya, who was also highlighted in "Diggers Dozen" (BBE) by the Japanese DJ MURO, known as the "King of Diggin," and "Wamono Groove: Shakuhachi & Koto Jazz Funk 1976" (180g). This collection debuts as the latest installment in the "Ryukyu Rare Groove" series, which was originally released in Japan in 2003 to great acclaim.

Pratts & Payne, the South London pub that sits around the corner from the famed home studio of producer Dan Carey, has an important place in the history of Royel Otis. When making their debut album with Carey in early 2023, the Australian duo - childhood friends Otis Pavlovic and Royel Maddell - would decamp to the pub to finish lyrics and make decisions on the direction of their first LP. "Dan would ask us to record vocals," Royel remembers, "and we'd say, 'Just give us half an hour, we're popping to Pratts & Payne', and we'd have a pint, a few shots, and get some lyrics down." Eventually, it made such a mark that they named the record PRATTS & PAIN. Across the debut album, Royel Otis swing between melodic, pop- inspired indie and woozy psych, but it never feels tied to one lane. As soon as one style or mood has outstayed its welcome, they handbrake turn into psychedelic weirdness or dissonant noise, keeping everybody on their toes. After the table was laid on the two EPs, PRATTS & PAIN brings everything from the band's history together on a record that's reverent towards their beginnings but unafraid to push forwards into new sounds. This loose, open formula for what makes a Royel Otis song is written all over PRATTS & PAIN, an album defined by its sense of fun and adventure. On the tracks 'Velvet' and 'Big Ciggie', Carey's 11-year-old nephew Archie appears on drums, and a spontaneous energy ran through the sessions, one which can be heard across the album. On first single 'Adored', they master the perfect indie-pop hit, while 'Sonic Blue' keeps this underlying energy but sets screeching guitars over the top. 'Velvet', meanwhile, has the stomping energy of Talking Heads, while 'Molly' is an unsettling and deeply atmospheric slow jam. Whatever sonic template the music might be based on though, the crux of Royel Otis comes back to a foundational DNA of mutual trust. Royel says: "We have fun together, and it's not difficult. I trust what Otis thinks and what he does, and I back it. If you back each other, something good comes from it."

September 2025 bei RVNG Intl. und ist eine gewagte und doch intime Reflexion über die ungefilterten Komplexitäten menschlicher Beziehungen. Ohne die fiktiven Erzählungen der letzten Alben der Künstlerin kommt „A Danger to Ourselves“ von einem Ort der emotionalen Aufrichtigkeit. Dalts Stimme steht im Mittelpunkt und wird von einer üppigen akustischen Orchestrierung, perkussiven Instrumenten und einer Reihe hochkarätiger Mitstreiter unterstützt, die sich wie ein tiefes persönliches Gespräch entwickeln.



Die in Pereira, Kolumbien, geborene Dalt wuchs in einer musikbegeisterten Familie auf, die sie im Alter von neun Jahren dazu ermutigte, eine Gitarre in die Hand zu nehmen. Dalt folgte diesem kreativen Impuls, war fasziniert von computergestützter Produktion und verließ eine aufkeimende Karriere als Bauingenieurin, zog von Medellín nach Barcelona und schließlich nach Berlin, wo sie ihren unverwechselbaren, abenteuerlichen Sound entwickelte. Mit „Anticlines“ (2018) und „No era sólida“ (2020) und vor allem mit „¡Ay!“, Dalts bahnbrechendem Sci-Fi-Bolero-Album von 2022, hat sich ihre Arbeit auf immer anspruchsvolleres Terrain begeben. Auf dem Weg dorthin hat Dalt ihre Praxis auf die Vertonung von Filmen wie „On Becoming a Guinea Fowl“ (2024), die HBO-Serie „The Baby“ (2022) und den bevorstehenden psychologischen Horrorfilm „Rabbit Trap“ ausgeweitet, während sie Klanginstallationen und Performances kreiert, die ihre leuchtenden Modulationen und ihren unverwechselbaren, sich entwickelnden stimmlichen Ansatz zur Schau stellen. „A Danger to Ourselves“ entstand aus fragmentarischen Erklärungen, die Dalt aufschrieb, während sie das Leben auf der Tournee von „¡Ay!“ und die prägenden Momente einer neuen Beziehung meisterte. Im Eröffnungstrack von Unlearning Vol. 2, seinem fünften Soloalbum, bricht Evidence zunächst mit Mustern. "Set the autopilot, cruising speed", sagt er - eine Zeile, die an seinen charakteristischen entspannten Flow erinnert. Aber anstatt zu cruisen, wählt der aus Venice stammende Musiker die Störung. "That's a setup for a punch to land with 'true indeed'," fährt er fort und gibt den Ton für ein Album vor, bei dem es weniger um Bequemlichkeit und mehr um Transformation geht. Der Titel des Tracks "Plans Change" könnte nicht passender gewählt sein. Seit seinem Auftauchen mit Dilated Peoples hat Evidence immer eine kühle, mühelose Kontrolle ausgestrahlt. Aber "Unlearning Vol. 2" lehnt wie sein Vorgänger aus dem Jahr 2021 jedes Abgleiten in den Status eines Vermächtnisses ab. Es ist nicht nur ein stilistischer Schwenk, sondern eine tiefere, introspektivere Reise, die in technischer Meisterschaft wurzelt, aber von Instinkt und Neugier angetrieben wird. The second installment in the SEMPLATE series arrives with force, presenting "Clones" — four-track EP by British duo Evasion & Conman. Run of 200 copies on transparent red / black splatter vinyl. Across the record, Evasion & Conman navigate the spaces between drum and bass, jungle, and breaks, crafting a sound that is both raw and futuristic.

The journey begins with A1 “Closure”, a heavy workout at 165 bpm, driven by pounding drums and a sparse, stripped-back propulsion. On A2 “Nashi” at 147 bpm, unveil perhaps the most lush cut on the EP — a rolling jungle track rich with textured breaks and atmospheric washes. Flipping to the B-side, B1 “Acid Reflux” sits at 140 bpm, swirling with eerie synths and snarling bass that push into darker territory. Finally, B2 “Clones” fires off at 170 bpm, delivering a vision of futuristic broken drum and bass: fractured rhythms, stark bass hits, and cybernetic touches.

As Dustin Zahn's Enemy Records celebrates its 20th anniversary with a string of special releases, Marcal returns once again with 4 new signature style tracks. The EP demonstrates further refinement of Marcal's shamanic tribal grooves that everybody knows and loves, along with an artistic progression towards weirder and deeper sonic territory.

The vinyl ends with what is possibly Marcal's strangest and deepesttrack yet, "Perpetuity Wing." The track invites listeners into a lucid dream state via ethereal vocals and hypnotizing percussive work.

In 2000 Belgian singer and composer ZIPPORA surprised the international trance-scene with her debut-single LOTUS EATER. In was produced at the time by ILLUSION-DJ DJ Philip and BYTE inhouse-producer EDDY WEYNS. 25 years later it gets a massive remake by none the less than NICO PARISI (known as a resident-DJ in ATMOZ and producer/remixer of Nunca, Aqualords, Nico Parisi of course and the legendary track METRO).

Dillinger one of the most consistently successful DJ’s to come out of the Jamaica, fondly remembered for his massive ‘Cocaine In My Brain’ hit from the great CB200 album and the later reworked ‘Marijuana In My Brain’ which gave Dillinger crossover hits in both England and Europe. But the versatile DJ has many more strings to his bow.

Dillinger (born. Lester Bullocks,1953 Kingston, Jamaica) began his musical venture around 1971, working asa DJ to Sound Systems run by Prince Jackie and El Brasso.1974 saw his first vinyl release in the form of ‘Freshly’ for Producer Yabby U and in 1975 he came with the great ‘Brace A Boy’ for the young Mr Augustus Pablo.But his first album release was through Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One setup, where he let Dillinger fire some vocals over classic Rocksteady rhythms. It took the form of ‘Ready Natty Dreadie’. It was his time at Joseph ‘Jo Jo’ Hookim’s Channel One Studio that produced his second album set(a crossover release and fore mentioned) the timeless 1976 classic ‘CB 200’. It contained three big singles in ‘Plantation Heights’, ‘Cocaine In My Brain’ and ‘Crank Face’. The reworked ‘ Marijuana In My Brain’ even became a No 1 hit in Holland in 1979.

We have taken our set of tunes from his classic 70’s period when Mr Dillinger could do no wrong.Alongside the big ‘Cocaine’ and ‘Marijuana’ hits the great opening track ‘Love Is All I Bring’ sees him working over Alton Ellis ‘Still In Love With You’ which Itself turned into ‘3 Piece Suite’. ‘Money Alone Is Not All’ where he works over Barry Brown’s ‘Mr Money Man’, ‘Hear and Deaf’ working over Johnny Clarke’s ‘Nobodies Business’. ‘King Pharaoh Was A Baldhead’ has him working Frankie Jone’s ‘ Jesse Black’ cut. ‘Concubine’ reworks the Mighty Diamond’s ‘Mother Winney’ and ‘Time So Hard’ sees Dillinger telling it like it is over Ronnie Davis’ original ‘ Time So Hard’ cut, empathizing the points in fine style.

It's utterly refreshing right off the bat with Vahagn M & Ycrow layering up jazzy keys with nice contemporary deep house swing, UNDO takes things into a vibey live jazz lounge and Your Friend Daao lays down shuffling and broken drum patterns that are effervescent with Neo-soul and nu-jazz energy. Elsewhere, Yerevan Calling's 'Next Step' brings stuttering jazz swagger and Shhau & Mesrop sink into a deep and soulful late-night sound on 'Andset'. There is a great deal of musical charm and originality to all of these fresh fusions, which makes this is vital LP.

Livity Sound welcomes Joe Milli to the fold with an assured EP of crisp club workouts that land between techno's evocative depth and UK funky's offbeat, drum-focused functionality.

Over the past few years Milli has been establishing his sound across a swathe of radio shows, guest mixes and releases, and he lands on Livity with a timeless take on the label's commitment to stripped back, atmospheric soundsystem music.

There's variety across the Deep Forest EP, ranging from the balmy bassweight house of the title track to the deep-diving dub pulses and bruk drum science of 'Look Again'. 'Keep That Wire' draws nervous energy from its synth hooks and the taut, angular beat before the rolling Detroit techno pulse of 'Expressions' brings the EP home in punchy, percussion-loaded style.

In line with past releases from the likes of Bakongo, DJ Polo and Tribal Brothers, Milli's strength lies in his ability to bend the UK funky formula to different styles, all precision-tooled for the club.


Livity Sound is a label set up by Peverelist in 2011 as a vehicle for a raw and exploratory strain of UK techno, rooted in the heritage of UK dance music and sound system culture. It has since become one of the UK's foremost protagonists for cutting edge underground electronic music.

Originally released in September 2024 we continue the re-release of Clark’s recent catalogue with the chance to get some limited vinyl versions of ‘In Camera’. Since his first composition credit in 2016 with The Last Panthers (Warp) Clark has built a reputation for expanding film and TV scores into intricate, exhilarating soundworlds of their own. Here Clark has expanded his score for Naqqash Khalid’s award-winning debut feature ‘In Camera’ stretching out the film’s surreal ‘modern fairy tale’ atmosphere with reversed vocals and gauzy synthpop-esque chords. Of the recording process Clark says: “Using my vocals but abstracted in a way that totally matched the film was the most unique challenge. I was going to just include the cues but got far too into recording new stuff that fitted the tone and emotion of the film. The record has a very distinct colour/ feel. It’s drenched in muted joy/ dark euphoria”. This includes a gnarly cover of the Carpenters’ ‘Superstar’ that burns closer to the frazzled Sonic Youth version.

It comes from prolific Tokyo based DJ and producer Hoshina Anniversary. A simple drum machine groove, a manic melody, witching siren sounds, psychedelic voices, some soft chords, and soulful high-pitched singing, somewhere between Dam-Funk coolness and Ian Svenonius-The-Make-Up sixties pop longing. One for warm sexy nights under neon lights. Out there in psychic realms. The flip brings a Dolphins interpretation. Yes, that feverish trio behind R.i.O., consisting of Nadia D'Alò, Benedikt Frey and Menqui. Their freshly recorded version comes with haunting nonchalant singing, displaying the tunes core melody as a more prominent actor of the play. Michael-Mann-Pop-Nostalgia with a baroque touch, that waves dark-ish. Even some Jon Hassle feeling is in there. Hoshina Anniversary disclosed, that the original song is inspired by jazz musicians like Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorius and Keith Jarrett. None of them is directly stylistically audible. But their kind of blue is all over. On the A as well as on the B. Twice soul music for the free.

Nach über drei Jahrzehnten Karriere und über zwei Millionen verkauften Alben bleiben PARADISE LOST die unangefochtenen Könige der dunklen Seite des Metal.
Die 1988 in Halifax gegründete Band wurde mit ihren frühen, bahnbrechenden Alben wie dem treffend betitelten „Gothic“ von 1991, einer Mischung aus Härte, düsterer Melodie und Atmosphäre, schnell als Pioniere des Gothic Metal bekannt. Sie waren nie eine Gruppe, die kreativ statisch blieb, und haben im Laufe ihrer Karriere unzählige Wege dunkler Musik erkundet, von schlammigen Doom-Death-Wurzeln über die Eroberung des Metal-Mainstreams mit den gewaltigen, satten Klängen von „Draconian Times“ von 1995 bis hin zu experimentelleren, elektronischeren Einflüssen. Sie haben so unterschiedliche Künstler wie CRADLE OF FILTH, HIM, GATECREEPER und CHELSEA WOLFE beeinflusst.

Jetzt, im Jahr 2025, kehrt das Quintett aus Yorkshire mit seinem atemberaubenden 17. Album „Ascension“ zurück, einem Album, das ihre Krone weiterhin strahlen lässt und unterstreicht, wie sie ihre Position erreicht haben. Produziert von Gitarrist Gregor Mackintosh in den Black Planet Studios in East Yorkshire, mit Schlagzeug und Gesang aus den NBS und Wasteland Studios in Schweden, durchqueren die zehn Tracks die gesamte Klangvielfalt der Band – von knallhartem Heavy Metal bis hin zu himmelhohen Melodien – und bewahren dabei eine unwiderstehliche Moll-Melancholie.

„Die Leute sollten erwarten, dass wir noch trüber werden“, scherzt Frontmann Nick Holmes auf die Frage, was Fans 2025 von PARADISE LOST erwarten können. Die Erklärung des Albumtitels und der Texte macht jedoch deutlich, dass sie ihr Handwerk weiterhin beherrschen, wenn es darum geht, solche Erwartungen zu erfüllen. „Der Albumtitel entspringt dem Glauben an den Aufstieg zu einem besseren Ort, in der Fiktion von der Erde in den Himmel, und all den damit verbundenen Anforderungen“, führt er aus. „Im wirklichen Leben streben Menschen oft von Geburt an danach, an einen besseren Ort zu gelangen und ein besserer Mensch zu sein, ungeachtet der Tatsache, dass der einzige Lohn der Tod ist.“ „Die Texte handeln von allem, was das Leben uns entgegenwirft“, fährt er fort. „Es ist nie vorhersehbar und kann gleichzeitig auch erschreckend sein. Wie Menschen mit dem Tod umgehen, welche Krücken sie benutzen und wie der mentale Zustand von lebensverändernden Situationen beeinflusst wird, ist immer wieder faszinierend.“

Genau wie die Musik selbst. Der Album-Opener „Serpent on The Cross“ beginnt mit einem herrlich düsteren Riff, bevor er nach der Hälfte in donnernden klassischen Metal übergeht, angetrieben von Doublebass-Drumming und einem fast METALLICA-artigen Riff. In „Silence Like The Grave“ singt Nick „über die Sinnlosigkeit des Krieges, das Sammeln von Punkten für die Menschheit“, untermalt von perfekter Gothic-Metal-Kulisse. „Tyrant’s Serenade“ zeigt derweil die tief verwurzelte Fähigkeit der Band, Einfachheit gewaltig klingen zu lassen, gekrönt von Gregors charakteristischen, eindringlichen Gitarrenleads. „Lay A Wreath Upon The World“ beginnt als ruhige Elegie, bevor es zu einem traurigen Höhepunkt gelangt, und das Schlussstück „The Precipice“ führt mit Klaviermelodien, bevor es zu einem würdevollen Abschluss führt.
All dies zeigt meisterhaft die Bandbreite dessen, was PARADISE LOST geleistet haben und leisten können, auf eine Weise, die bis heute keiner anderen Band vergleichbar ist.


„Nach 35 Jahren ist alles bewusst“, sagt Nick. „Bei einem so umfangreichen und abwechslungsreichen Backkatalog ist es schwierig, nicht hundertprozentig sicher zu sein, woher alles kommt. Aber letztendlich kommt es einfach darauf an, ob uns die Musik gefällt, die wir machen. Wenn ja, bleibt sie! Das hat sich seit unserer Jugend nicht geändert.“ Ascension ist ein stolzer Bestandteil von PARADISE LOST. Das Elend hört nie auf, aber, sagt Nick, so mögen sie es eben. „Ironischerweise“, lacht er, „ist es immer am angenehmsten, miserable Musik zu hören – und zu schreiben, schätze ich.“

Freak Show is the second album by the popular Australian band Silverchair, which charted in different lists all over the world (US, UK, Australia, Canada and many more). After their debut Frogstomp they were fusing more elements together in their music. Freak Show contains a lot of strong hooks and the song writing skills increased. This post-grunge album is more versatile in comparison to their earlier work and it marks the beginning of the definitive band sound.

Silverchair were an Australian rock band formed in 1992, who have sold over 9 million albums worldwide. Their sounds evolved during the years from the grunge and alternative rock to pop and art rock. In 2011 they announced their “indefinite hibernation” and it is still unknown if they ever going to return on stage.

More than once Jay Richford and Gary Stevan’s Feelings has been described as the greatest library record ever released. Of course Be With can’t be seen to be playing favourites, but we have to admit, it’s pretty good. Insanely rare and immensely sought-after, it’s a tough funk, street jazz masterpiece coveted for many years by collectors of all musical genres.

Since its original release on Italian label Carosello in 1974, Feelings has appeared on several labels with different sleeves and even under a different artist. Indeed cult library label Conroy put it out in one of their iconic red sleeves in 1976 and yes, Feelings has indeed had more than one modern re-issue since these “original” releases. But a record this special deserves to be kept in press and we think it deserves the Be With treatment.

No, Jay Richford and Gary Stevan aren’t two of the most Italian sounding names. As the story goes these were the pseudonyms adopted by Stefano Torossi and Giancarlo Gazzani who wrote the album but couldn’t use their real names on the original release for legal reasons. But Stefano Torossi himself later both clarified and confused the tale further by explaining that Feelings was the work of four people not just Gazzani and himself. Fellow composers and musicians Sandro Brugnolini and Puccio Roelens also worked on the album and as Torossi himself explained “we all worked together”, with all four gents “dividing the royalties in equal parts… that’s the story.” Right, so, with that all sorted out let’s get back to talking about the music. And what music it is.

Long hailed as a holy grail of library music, Feelings is the epitome of the sort of cinematic orchestral jazzy funk that is “that 70s library music sound”. Infectiously funky, deliciously melodic and with impeccible, elegant production, this record is the showcase for a stunning set of compositions and arrangements and with performances that are nothing short of virtuoso.

The record’s first side lifts off with “Flying High”, soaring brilliant and shimmering. Funk licks, menacing strings and swaggering horns combine for an ice-cold intro groove that Isaac Hayes would surely have envied, before the steady-paced drums deliver the slo-mo TKO. The string-drenched cop-funk of “Going Home” raises the tempo. All funky quick-fire bass lines and killer electric guitar soloing. A real thriller.

“Walking In The Dark” positively drips in blaxploitation-funk drama strings and horn struts, all laced with delicate drums, velvet piano and more filthy wah-wah. “Fighting For Life” is another funk-fuelled workout built around an effortlessly relentless drum track that refuses to give up until even the stiffest-necked head is nodding.

The loping, open drum break that guides the much-loved “Feeling Tense” through its early stages would be good enough on its own. The heavy bass gloss, swirling strings and ominous horns that follow take things to the next level.

The second side opens with another favourite “Running Fast”, and the track does precisely that. This is one fine rollicking chase theme underpinned by frenetic (yet funky) Fender Rhodes and skipping bass and drums. Those sweeping strings are a gorgeous extra. It’s a deliciously feel-good groove that sets the heart racing.

“Loving Tenderly” envelops us in warm, velvety night-time vibes with easy listening horns and slinky strings dialing up the seduction. Definitely one for the lithe lovers out there. The pace picks up on the electrifying “Fearing Much” where strings dart around deep bass, buzzing guitars and another funky drum break. The lush, melancholic “Being Friendly” is another easy beauty, all warm Rhodes and strings. Majestic stuff that puts an aural arm around you. The climactic “Having Fun” rides a pulsating, bass-heavy drum break with snatches of a funky guitar refrain, some luxurious keys, sweeping strings and triumphant horns. Sensational.

The Only Ones played not-so-fast guitar rock that sounded deeply indebted to the New York Dolls and other mid-70s proto-punks.

“Another Girl, Another Planet”, which is their most successful track and has since been covered by many other performers.
Since the Nineties, the album has appeared on several all-time greatest albums lists, including the book 1001 Albums
You Must Hear Before You Die in 2006. This edition of The Only Ones features remastered audio and is available on black vinyl.

If there is one person, who has been causing a stir on the international club circuit recently, it is Barcelona's John Talabot. Already his debut “My Old School“ (which is meant literally by the way) on Permanent Vacation in 2009 and shortly after that the single “ Sunshine”, which he put out on his own Hivern Disc imprint, made him one of the most promising musicians of the Spanish electronic scene. And those two releases also already set the mark for John Talabot’s unparalleled music: raw, loopy, heavy on the kick drum, sample based, moderate on the tempo, distorted on the drums and light years away from the clean and ever revolving house sound of today. This unique style which also blends influences from afro beat, Detroit techno, Chicago house and cosmic disco, but also northern soul or the energy of Flamenco, immediately turned some heads around. James Murphy, Âme and Aeroplane started including Talabot music in their sets like it was the most natural thing. However - and this is quite rare - he not only gained legions of fans in the house and disco community, but also amongst the leftfield pop and indie rock followers. NME and Resident Advisor both had “Breakthrough“ features on John Talabot and he can be proud of a “Best New Music“ dubbing on
Pitchfork. (Being rather elusive on showing his face in magazines or the web it also came to some funny rumors that John Talabot was the alter ego of a well-known techno producer from Detroit).
At the same time he drew the attention of like-minded artists like James Holden and Luke Abott from Border Community, Blondes or Delorean, which lead to a bunch of fertile collaborations: Luke Abbott and Blondes remixed Talabot’s “Sunshine“ single , John Talabot remixed a track by Delorean and vice versa Delorean’s Ekhi contributed vocals to the track “Journeys “ on John’s album). Another example is the Young Turks Label (home of Jamie XX, Holy Fuck, El Guincho or SBTRKT ) on which he released the “Families“ EP in 2010. It was praised beyond limits. Pitchfork for
instance hailed: “… where pop and house influences sweetly buffer up against one another to provide an unyielding sense of elation“ and even brought Talabot a comparison with artists like Four Tet or Caribou.
While staying true to his sound, John Talabot has nevertheless shown a constant evolution as a producer since his first release. He has traced a solid musical path that has turned him into one of the big references of European House and has made him also a highly in demand Remixer (for the likes of The XX, Francesco Tristano’s “Aufgang” project, Shit Robot on DFA, Thaiti 80, Joakim or Teengirl Fantasy to name just a few ).
A progression that now crystallizes in “ƒin”, his first full-length album for Permanent Vacation. A record, in which the Barcelona mastermind sets aside the danceable immediacy to expand his stylistic palette more than ever. For that purpose, Talabot melts all the elements that have constructed his distinctive sound until now and makes them emerge from a new perspective, in which the construction of complex song structures, intricate rhythms and superpositions of ever-evolving melodies and atmospheres pick up the baton of the “a kick-drum and a sampler” philosophy of his initial productions. The result brings us 11 tracks (we should call them songs really!) dominated by dark ambiances, gaseous textures and bittersweet moods that, above all, reveal a kind of vivacity that’s really hard to find in contemporary electronics. “Fin” is far from being a track collection. GOODWIN, das Soloprojekt des The Slow Show-Sängers Rob Goodwin, hat das Debütalbum 'PEEKABOO' angekündigt, das am 19. September 2025 über PIAS Recordings veröffentlicht wird. An Goodwins Seite ist dabei Lambert, der mysteriöse, maskierte Pianist und Komponist, der u.a. für seine Zusammenarbeit mit Künstlern wie Nils Frahm und Ólafur Arnalds bekannt ist.

The undiscovered recordings of jazz pianist Fumio Itabashi's iconic work Watarase were compiled from the perspective of a pioneering figure in the Japanese jazz scene, Minoru Wakatsuki, and garnered widespread acclaim with Watarase ECHO. The second installment, Watarase VOICE, focused on "voice" and featured unpublished tracks with a diverse range of vocalists. Now, as the third volume in the series, the complete version of the 2001 performance of Symphonic Poem “Watarase” by the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Kazuhiko Komatsu, with Fumio Itabashi and Yukki Kaneko, will finally be released! The full version could only be heard on VHS video at the time, and is now being released for the first time as a physical edition, making it a highly anticipated and long-awaited release.

Bleeds is not only the best Wednesday record_it's also the most Wednesday record, a patchwork-style triumph of literary allusions and outlaw grit, of place-based poetry and hair-raising noise. múm are returning with a new album on Morr Music. »History of Silence« is the first full body of work by the Icelandic collective since 2013's »Smilewound« and their seventh studio album to date—recorded, deconstructed, put back together again, refined and finished over the course of two years. Vibrantly oscillating around a carefully curated palette of electronic and analogue sounds, the eight new tracks reflect the group's continuous strive to explore sonic spaces through subtle yet gripping songwriting.

For a long time now, múm have been exploring the idea of distance in their music. In the beginning, this was born purely out of necessity. Founded in Iceland in the late 1990s, the members soon began embarking on journeys across the world—collectively while touring, but also individually, exploring new places to live and create. Settling in, moving on, catching up: The concept of distance soon became an integral part of the collective's process. »History of Silence« leans into this idea, with space and time becoming indispensable pillars of the arrangements. While being coherent and structured, they echo their origins from different seasons, cities, and spaces—neatly stitched together with unparalleled craftsmanship. They breathe an overall airy and intimate atmosphere, yet resonate with the structural heft of time.

On »History of Silence« time manifests in unexpected, liberating, and mesmerizing ways. It does not move reliably forward; it drifts, takes twists and turns, even disappears completely. Electronic textures blur into acoustic sounds, voices flicker and dissolve, melodies stumble and repeat. The arrangements often feel like they’re wandering, gently resisting direction. »Our Love is Distorting,« for instance, begins with a subtle piano motif, playing hide and seek with feedback noises, digital artefacts, and lush—yet very quiet—string arrangements, before gradually forming into a distinctive song. It's a perfect illustration of múm's general approach on this album. »Mild at Heart« turns this idea upside-down, flowing freely from start to finish with moments of silence sprinkled in—serving to emphasize the musical elements. The music on »History of Silence« moves like weather: unexpected, intimate, quietly detailed. Contrasted with vivid phrases, rhythmic shifts, and small hooks, the album offers a new angle of compositional clarity and vision.

Work on »History of Silence« began at Sudestudio in southern Italy. Additional recordings were made in Reykjavík, Berlin, Athens, Helsinki, New York, and Prague. The strings were recorded by Sinfonia Nord at the Hof concert hall, Akureyri, arranged and conducted by Ingi Garðar Erlendsson, who has worked with the band for many years. The orchestral elements don’t dominate the record—instead, they surface gently, adding depth and resonance to the songs without disturbing the songs' fragility.

Contrary to what the album title suggests, »History of Silence« is a collection of bold and colorful songs, no matter how muted they might sound at times. They tickle like a feather drifting through the wind, ending up in unexpected places, stimulating long-forgotten thoughts and feelings, intimate moments of introspection. The songs move through the echoes those moments leave behind: the emotional traces of things unsaid, the weight of stillness. Offering closeness by means of distance and much-needed support.

For a long time now, múm have been exploring the idea of distance in their music. In the beginning, this was born purely out of necessity. Founded in Iceland in the late 1990s, the members soon began embarking on journeys across the world—collectively while touring, but also individually, exploring new places to live and create. Settling in, moving on, catching up: The concept of distance soon became an integral part of the collective's process. »History of Silence« leans into this idea, with space and time becoming indispensable pillars of the arrangements. While being coherent and structured, they echo their origins from different seasons, cities, and spaces—neatly stitched together with unparalleled craftsmanship. Work on »History of Silence« began at Sudestudio in southern Italy. Additional recordings were made in Reykjavík, Berlin, Athens, Helsinki, New York, and Prague. The strings were recorded by Sinfonia Nord at the Hof concert hall, Akureyri, arranged and conducted by Ingi Garðar Erlendsson, who has worked with the band for many years. The orchestral elements don’t dominate the record—instead, they surface gently, adding depth and resonance to the songs without disturbing the songs' fragility.

Dutch-born, Belgian-based artist Chantal Acda has been releasing her music and touring internationally since 2006. Her impressive and eclectic catalog includes numerous band projects, collaborations, and solo albums. The 2024 album Silently Held, recorded with The Atlantic Drifters, is nominated in 2025 for an Edison Award in the Netherlands. Her upcoming album, The Whale, will be released on September 19, 2025, followed by an extensive European tour. The album was produced by Chris Eckman (The Walkabouts) and recorded with her live band, which she has been performing with for over a decade. The songs were co-written with band members Eric Thielemans, Alan Gevaert, Gaëtan Vandewoude, and Niels Van Heertum.

The sound of The Whale is rougher and more rock-oriented than her previous projects, but her signature introspection and vulnerability remain at the core of the music. Singles “Heads” and “Make It Work” have received airplay in Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK, and Germany.

In the past, Chantal has recorded and performed with artists such as Bill Frisell, Nils Frahm, and members of Low, Múm, and Efterklang. Currently, she is also a member of the bands Distance, Light & Sky (with Chris Eckman of The Walkabouts and Eric Thielemans) and Isbells.

Halima's debut album SWEET TOOTH is a bold declaration of power from an undeniable talent. Seductive, restless, and deeply assured, the record unspools like a night in motion. In the afterglow of her 2024 EP on drink sum wtr, praised by Clash Magazine, The Fader, BBC Radio, and others, the Brooklyn-based, UK/Nigerian musician solidifies her sound and expands it tenfold. If EXU was a spark, SWEET TOOTH is the full burn. Not so much genre-less as "genre-full"; the album spans a bright, lush world where club bangers meet deep ballads in a striking, fully-formed hybrid of honeyed Afro-pop and scorched R&B. Across its eleven tracks, Halima maps the push-pull of desire, transformation, and emotional reckoning. "Sweetness on my terms," she offers a mantra for reclaiming softness without surrendering strength. "The album is about the journey to reclaim one's self amidst the chaos of life and ultimately acts as a love letter to the pleasures and pain of these human pursuits." While SWEET TOOTH declares Halima's artistic arrival, she calls it an epilogue, a reflection on past behaviors and lessons learned. "Am I the person that I wanted to grow into becoming? I think so. Following the "rich jangle and big, well-developed songs" (Bandcamp) of 2023's Bananasugarfire, Edling sought to deconstruct his creative process by centering collaboration instead of a more solitary pursuit in songwriting, even as personal matters made isolation a more natural instinct. He describes taking time to make notes of the ways, timing and forms in which songs came to him in the process of demoing the record, and regularly questioning if his approach was like that of "watching a pot of water boil" or waiting for a bolt of light to appear in the sky. In many ways, Shooting Star is an appeal to the muse, a record of "songs about writing songs" born from Edling's desire to trust his instincts despite the posturings of inner demons and creative roadblocks, and to celebrate the little wins along the way. The result is a sprawling new work packed to the brim with playful eccentricities and dynamism, one that owes as much of its inspiration to mid-century folkies like Michael Hurley and Karen Dalton as it does to alt rock of the nineties like Yo La Tengo and Stereolab. Shooting Star is a constellation of influences, experiences, reckonings-with the state of the world, with others, with creativity, with oneself-with no two songs created in the same way. In 2022, Meral Polat released her debut album "Ez Ki Me" as a singer under the name Meral Polat Trio. "Ez Ki Me" roughly translates to "Who am I?". The album was a search by the singer for her Alevi Kurdish roots. In her lyrics, Meral incorporated many poems from her late father, Adi Ihsan Polat. The album received positive reviews and was nominated for a Music Award by Songlines.

On her new album MEYDAN, Meral primarily showcases her own voice, that of a woman exercising her right to live on her own terms, free from the oppressive interference of patriarchy. The album celebrates female strength, inspired by the philosophy of "JIN, JIYAN, AZADI" (WOMAN, LIFE, FREEDOM), a phrase originating from Kurdish-led women's movements. JIN, JIYAN, AZADI symbolise resistance to oppression and the fight for women's rights.

Musically, MEYDAN takes it a step further than the debut album. Meral welcomes drummer Jens Bouttery to the band, along with many inspiring guest musicians. The track "Cenek" features a determined choir of 26 women of various ages and cultural backgrounds. In "Çiya Icaro", Meral shares a duet with Bolivian artist Ibbelise Guarda Ferraguti.

On MEYDAN, Meral and her band continue their exploration of Anatolian and Mesopotamian music, particularly the Turkish psychedelic rock revolution of the 1970s and the ancient Kurdish Dengbej traditions. The band travelled to Istanbul to record with Murat Ertel from Baba Zula and trumpet player Can Omer Uygan. In addition to Anatolian music styles, influences from Mali Blues and Nigerian Afrobeat are embraced. Another notable guest is Senegalese musician Mola Sylla, who lent his voice and improvisational talent to the track "Govend".

While the drums, keyboards or guitar, and Polat's voice still form the core of the album, each track also contains its own collage of synthesisers, vocal harmonies, percussion, organ, piano, distorted guitars, and guest musicians. All tracks were mixed by the exceptional Belgian mixing engineer Pieterjan Coppejans, who added depth to their sound. All of this results in a particularly rich and uplifting album with a message.

With over 200,000 subscribers, this YouTube channel aims to highlight everything related to the "Retro Gaming" culture and the nostalgia that surrounds it.


These albums put together all the musical credits of the 3rd and 4th seasons of Edward's YouTube channel. All the remixes come from the games featured in Edward’s videos.


This is like a tribute to the original composers of these tracks, who have carried these videogames even further than expected, thanks to their musical talents.

Will Johnson und die verbleibenden Mitglieder der beliebten Band Magnolia Electric Co. haben sich für neue Aufnahmen als Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. zusammengetan. Im September werden Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. ihrem verstorbenen Kollegen Jason Molina Tribut zollen und vom 18. bis 21. September 2025 vier Konzerte in Texas geben. Will Johnson ist der texanische Songwriter von Centro-matic, South San Gabriel und derzeitiges Mitglied der 400 Unit mit Jason Isbell. Johnson veröffentlichte im April 2025 sein zehntes Soloalbum "Diamond City" und war Teil des 2009 erschienenen Gemeinschaftsalbums "Molina and Johnson", für das eine Tournee aufgrund von Molinas Alkoholproblemen abgesagt werden musste. Die vier Konzerte folgen den ausgetretenen Pfaden von Molina und Magnolia während ihrer sieben Jahre als Magnolia Electric Co. und markieren den 20. Jahrestag einer Texas-Tournee, die 2005 zur Unterstützung der Alben "What Comes After the Blues" und "Trials and Errors" stattfand. Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. (mit Will Johnson und Mike Brenner, Jason Evans Groth, Michael Kapinus, Mark Rice und Pete Schreiner) trafen sich Anfang des Jahres in Texas, um neue Studioversionen der Songs von Molina und Johnson aufzunehmen, angelehnt an die 2018er Zusammenarbeit "Goshen Electric Company" von Magnolia und Oaks erinnern. Die Sessions wurden von Johnsons langjährigem Kollegen Britton Beisenherz aufgenommen und gemischt und von Magnolia-Mastering-Ingenieur Matthew Barnhart gemastert. Das Cover ziert ein ikonisches Artwork von Will Schaff, dessen Kunstwerke mittlerweile untrennbar mit Jason Molinas Songwriting verbunden sind.

Joan Shelley folgt ihrem von der Kritik gefeierten Album ,The Spur" aus dem Jahr 2022 mit ,Real Warmth". Ihr siebtes Album, das in Toronto mit dem Produzenten Ben Whiteley (The Weather Station) aufgenommen wurde, enthält 13 Titel mit zahlreichen Gästen aus der fruchtbaren Musikszene der Stadt (Tamara Lindenman, Doug Paisley). Shelley tourte bereits mit Richard Thompson, Patty Griffin, Wilco und anderen um die Welt. Sie spielte im Lincoln Center, beim Newport Folk Festival, war auf den Covern des Acoustic Guitar Magazine und des Fretboard Journal zu sehen und war zu Gast bei WTF with Marc Maron und Fresh Air.
